Headcanon that Coco didn't actually know her father's name.
She was three or four when he left. As far as she was concerned, his name was Papá.
She remembered her mother singing and dancing with him, but she had no memories of Imelda actually calling Héctor by name.
And afterwards, Imelda got rid of anything that belonged to him, anything that might bear his name. She never mentioned his name again. Oscar and Felipe didn't either.
Coco had the picture, so she knew what he looked like, but not his name. Even the letters - they were all addressed to Coco, and signed "Papá." Yes, there were many parts that were for Imelda - Imelda was the one who read them to Coco, since she presumably couldn't read much more than her name - but they were for Coco, which was why she had them when Imelda began her purge.
Even if Coco had wanted to try to find out more about her father after her mother died, she couldn't. She wouldn't get very far without a name.
She spent the rest of her life clinging to a fading memory of a kind man with dark eyes and a guitar. She would take out his picture and look at it. She was glad she only had daughters, because if she'd had a son she would have been conflicted about whether to want to give her father's name as a middle name, and she didn't know it.
Miguel finally discovered his great-great-grandfather's name - well, in a believable way that he could tell everyone else, anyway - after going to the town hall and digging through old records for hours and finally discovering a marriage license for Héctor and Imelda Rivera.
Depending on when Coco died, though, she may not have been alive to see this.
Depending on whether Miguel told his great-grandmother about his adventure in the Land of the Dead, she may or may not have died still not knowing her father's name. Not until a weeping young man embraces her in the Department of Family Reunions, and, crying herself, she melts into his embrace, hugging him back, and she hears her mother's voice saying softly, "Ay, Héctor, Coco."

Hola!
Ehmmm.... 😅
I know Easter was a week ago! But until now I hadn't been able to publish this drawing that I had prepared...
Will I show it even if very late?! Yep... Why not... 🤣
Nothing, it was just Hector and Miguel entertaining with the tradition de los cascarones, They paint and fill the eggs with confetti and then basically smash them on their friends' heads!
So ummm... Happy Easter... 😅💜

Hi! In fact, almost all the drawings here are not random shots, they are illustrations for my big crossover Encanto and Coco.
I'm writing a story in a different language on a different site. And here I would like to share small sketch shots and tell you about the plot to bring those interested up to date.
It all starts with 15-year-old Bruno, who has an involuntary vision with a toast of Ernesto and Hector. He has no idea who these people are, but the vision continues to haunt him for another four years, appearing more and more often. In the end, Bruno talks to Alma and she lets him leave Encanto so that he can find out why his Gift makes him see this prophecy for so many years.
He meets Ernesto and Hector before the fulfillment of the prophecy, but manages to prevent it at the last moment.
Before returning to Encanto, he spends a few days with Rivera. He meets them and gets wonderful understanding friends, but he has to leave them and return home.
About six months later, Rivera goes on a final journey and finds Encanto. They settle there.
Imelda opens a shoe store, Hector helps her. Imelda becomes a friend for Juliet and Pepa, Hector calls Bruno a brother, Coco is everyone's favorite, and Oscar and Felipe just bring chaos to the city.
Here are a few pages of the triplets' interaction with Rivera.
I understand that this thing is naive and stupid, but I want to have a happy corner in my life where my favorite characters are in order. Therefore, Hector remains alive, and the problems of the Madrigal family are solved by the Rivera family, who, with their fresh look, make Alma and the city think about their actions.

Been helping my buddy @energeticpoltergeist with their El Tigre time skip au, and these are just some of the drawings have done for that
These are Manny and Frida’s kids
Fun fact The boys named Jorge Junior after Mannys grandpapi (and the creator of the show, of course) the girl’s named Marga because that’s my great aunts name lol
Wholesome family sketches ✨
Also, even though Jorge is the one with the sombrero of chaos, he considers himself to be aligned Good while Marga with the boots considers herself to be aligned evil. don’t we love the old switcheroo.

Small Coco Details (pt 1)
All right. I did this with Encanto, and now that I'm dipping my toes into the Coco fandom, I thought I'd do the same with this one. :) Just some little background details and things I saw that I thought were cool.
Spoiler warnings (duh)
Okay, who noticed that when it started raining, raindrops started landing on the papel picado (I think that's what they're called)? Because I only noticed during this latest watch through.
Speaking of noticing things, this is Imelda with her grandkids, right? But according to the family tree, she only had Elena and Victoria as her grandkids. So who's that third child? Is there more to the Rivera family than what we've seen?
Going off that last vein of thought, I'm going to say that yes there is more to the Rivera family than what we know. In the movie we only see Imelda, Rosita, Victoria, Felipe, Óscar, and Julio in the Land of the Dead. But there's what looks like six people (5 frames) on the ofrenda that are unaccounted for during the movie. I wonder who they are?
Bit more of a close-up of a few of them. I understand from the director's point of view not wanting to crowd the viewer with so many characters, but... from a story viewpoint, who are these people and why weren't they with the family on Día de los Muerto?
If you look at the Alebrijes that Miguel plays music on, you can see a little Pepita on the table. :) Isn't she adorable?
And of course, who could miss the Toy Story and Monster's Inc references?
Can we get a moment of silence or an F in the chat for this nameless dude who inadvertently killed one of the 'most beloved singers in Méxican history'? Because even if this dude doesn't go to jail for an accident, you can bet that he's going to have to leave the country after this. Ha... and you thought you were having a bad day.
Miguel's face when he hears his Abuelita coming down the street. He looks like his skeleton's about to jump out of his skin... He might've had better luck if that were the case, honestly. Then again, while Mamá Imelda does seem more frightening at first, she actually seems to be a bit more willing to listen than Elena.
Finally (for this part anyways), look at Rosa giving Miguel that smug grin. She's gloating that Miguel's in trouble and she's not. I think we've all dealt with people like that, siblings cousins or otherwise.

What I feel like a lot of people on Tumblr don't understand is that it's normal for families to argue and fight. It's normal for families to get on each other's nerves and rub each other the wrong way. It's normal for families to have conflict. And this does not mean that the family is abusive or doesn't love each other.
Siblings will argue! Romantic spouses will say unkind things to each other! Everyone says things they shouldn't have when arguing. Because people argue.
The world is not divided into "people who have never done anything to hurt any of their loved ones ever" and "abusive toxic dysfunctional relationship."
You can fight with someone and still care about them. You can fight with someone and make up later - or not make up later but do things in lieu of an apology because that's how your relationship works. You can even not like someone but still love them.
It does not mean that a family is bad if they are not in perfect loving agreement some of the time, or even most of the time. It just mean that they're normal people.
Obviously arguing a lot isn't good. But never arguing at all isn't good either. That means that either one or more sides are too afraid of the other to voice their opinion, or that they are so removed from each other, their lives are so separate, that they have no relationship to speak of. That's no good either. What is healthy is to disagree sometimes, to talk things out. Even if that means sometimes yelling things out.
This was brought to you by someone who got sick of seeing all the posts about how abusive the Madrigal family is.
This was also brought to you by someone who got sick of seeing all those old posts about how abusive the Rivera family is.
This was also brought to you by someone who got sick of seeing all those posts about....pretty much every relationship in Warrior Cats, actually. Really. Name a relationship - romantic, platonic, parent-child, sibling, anything - and there's been posts complaining about how toxic/abusive/dysfunctional it is. Incidentally I think the term "toxic" is thrown around a little too much.

The level of found family displayed so far in season 3 of the Witcher is so lovely. The obvious parts are with ciri, yen and Geralt, but the willingness to bring jaskier in and the love they all have for him, especially the dynamic between jaskier and ciri
