This family is cursed, its bloodline is nothing but filled with filth and sin, all flowing in fheir body as well. This is the confession written by the late Empress to that child, the embodiment of karmic debt.

That child was born out of a heinous act of the late Emperor, the crown prince's wife was assaulted by him. She cried to me, begging for a miracle to happen, to take the baby in her womb away. She tried aborting it but was faced will countless failures as was evidently shown by her enlarged stomach.

Truth be told, I was grateful for the fact that it was her who bore it and not me. Is it a sin for me to think like this? I am merely praising God for his benevolence to me. Had it been me in her position, what would be left out of me?

The baby was born under the sky that was blanketed by stars as though all deities were laughing at its state. Not only was it an embodiment of guilt and shame, its condition was pitiful.

Am I in the wrong for praising God that my sons were born healthy and normal without any anomalies? Perhaps God started to doubt me and punish me...

The mother of that child was unhinged. It wasn't a rare sight for me to see her crying along with the baby. It wasn't rare to see its father glaring at the baby with hatred and grudge.

As time passed, the baby grew up into a toddler. One day, it crawled to me with these large eyes blanketed with the stars I saw that day on the day of their birth. It smiled at me warmly. It made me feel ashamed of how I was grateful for my fate. It made me feel guilty. With trembling hands, I embraced it. The child laughed at me and its hands flapped to my side.

Have they even been embraced by their parents?

That didn't matter. What matters is that I saw her try to murder her own child years later. I saw it. I saw it. I saw it. The pillow was placed on top of her child's face, and the child stayed still. Dead?

... if the child died... and if her crime was discovered... she would be banished... and the crown prince would be devastated and decided to descend from the throne...

That way my husband would be the next Emperor with my son, Erickson, standing next in line!

In the end, I remembered how the child looked at me. It was looking at me as though I was their mother...

I yelled for the guards and they immediately separated the mother from the child. Had I not been fast with my voice and thought, I would have never been able to see the stars in their eyes.

She cursed me for doing so. My brother-in-law was not happy with me but who was I but if not the mother of this nation? Even if I wasn't the mother of this nation, I was still the mother this child wished they could have. Had I been consumed with greed completely, I would have never been able to live without guilt placed on my shoulders. The bruises and cuts on the child were merciless, inhumane.

It took 3 years for me to be able to take them into my care. It took 3 years for my brother-in-law to back away from the position. It took 3 years for me to finally be able to embrace that child again.

I introduced them to my sons, Erickson was the first to talk to them although his question was rather unethical.

"Mother! Are they a girl or a boy?"

Nonetheless, they were not hurt by that question. It made me think, that if I couldn't take them in as my child, then they would become my lady-in-waiting. Starting then, I started dressing them up in dresses, growing their hair, and teaching them the etiquette of a lady. They were smart enough to understand everything in a short time, allowing me to let them study what Erickson and Noel had been studying.

The three grew up together, they were going along with each other whims. Noel who had always been quiet once eventually opened up to them while Erickson would always try to monopolize their attention.

Erickson, there's something wrong with him ever since he was little. He didn't have the mind of children around his age, he matured too early. Noel, on the other hand, was a bit slow in his studies as he showed more passion for martial arts.

Erickson was crowned shortly after he reached his teenage years, I am glad Noel did not show any sign of envy toward his brother. The Emperor did not oppose the idea of Noel being a knight as well.

Then, a prophet came to visit us, Her figure was hooded by a cloak but it appeared that she was a little girl of 12-year-old.

'One of your sons shall be of a priest,' she said, 'and that man would be the downfall of this nation.'

That man. Who exactly was this 'that man?' Brother-in-law was out of this nation, his whereabouts unknown.

Noel came to me, he insisted on his plan of marrying that child. God, what am I capable of? To tell them this bitter truth? I should have noticed how blushes crept through my son's ears whenever he was around that child. What should I do? He threatened me. He threatened me with his own life and that child's life.

'I don't have the heart to kill my family but I am well capable enough to bring who I love to my grave.'

Even if I told him the truth, he would not falter, I can see that. Because he is my son. Right? This is for his own happiness, right? What am I doing wrong God? If I ever told him that one truth, what would he do? I doubt he would just let things be. I truly doubt that's the case. Because he is capable of bringing someone he loves to his grave if he couldn't have them in this life. I don't want the two of them to die, God, am I doing this right?

Please forgive your Mother for doing this, Noel, Erickson. Mother couldn't decide what's best for everyone. Mother wants Noel to live. Mother did not realize that Noel was feeling lonely this whole time.

And I did not know Erickson was too.

'Mother, I'll be courting them as the next Empress.'

Erickson had always been the child that took what Noel had. Everything Noel had will be monopolized into, including his honor as a knight and his fiancee.

I opposed it of course, not only was it because of the filth in their blood, but they were Noel's fiancee and were incapable of bearing children.

'Mother, I don't care about my descendants. Noel could just continue it for me.'

He had no interest in looking for concubines, he was serious about them. Why? Didn't Erickson want them only because they are Noel's bethroed?

I couldn't do anything. I can't do anything. The person you two love is your Royal Uncle; how am I supposed to reveal that truth without having one of them spilling bloodshed?

I don't know. Perhaps this is my punishment. Perhaps I have always been sinful all along, feigning ignorance and self-justification, this is my punishment.

In the end, I remain selfish. I will bring this truth to the grave with me, this way everyone will be spared this unnecessary bloodshed. Noel was sent away while Erickson wedded that child.

Yes, this way, no unnecessary bloodshed would happen even though Noel had to lose his footing, literally.

I will lock this truth into the Pandora's box so that the child won't have to feel disgusted and bathed in guilt.

michigan turning fully blue (house & senate flipped for the first time in 40 years) is not a fluke of 2022's engagement only, is not because only of abortion being on the ballot (although it was one of issues that contributed to turnout), or anything else. it is because organizers in the state have been working consistently on the issue for over half a decade.

in 2017, average everyday people got together and formed Voters Not Politicians with the goal of taking away making the state district maps away from politicians and putting it in an independent commission. Michigan is one of 3 states that has petition-driven ballots, and they were able to get enough petitions to put it on the ballot for 2018. this is after forming connections with other left-wing groups and organizations, including SEIU, teachers unions, ACLU's newly created People Power. etc. who helped contribute financially and get the word out.

VNP was at literally every corner, every store, every college campus, doing both petition signing and voter registration. they were literally up our ass every day for months. VNP was made of up average people. we were not lobbyists, we were not politicians, we were just people. the majority of them were grown adults, people in their 30s and 40s and 50s. i was the youngest person for years in my section of it in my corner of southeast michigan. i was a full-time college student and could only contribute maybe, maybe an hour of my week to it. and because of my age, i was able to show them what younger generations thought and how we worked, to connect them to college campuses and students who wanted to get involved, and so it grew yet again. and with the advertising campaign they were able to pull as well the ballot was able to pass with 61% support.

then, the GOP tried to shut it down. it went through so many courts. there was genuine fear, especially in the wake of multiple states gerrymandering efforts being shut down by their states supreme court if not the national SC, that it would happen in michigan too. but it didn't. we were lucky, and we were organized, and we had lawyers backing us up from the partnerships and relationships we had built in the years prior. we knew it was going to happen, and so we weren't caught off guard. we were ready. throughout the entire multi-year litigation it went through.

we created new maps. and then, 2022 comes. we have a shot at turning the state blue. Roe v Wade happens, but before that, organizers are doing massive voter registration as well again. people are talking to family members, to friends. political education is going on throughout the entire state, hell, the entire nation. it is a group effort. people are becoming aware of what's at stake.

and then this week happens and the results come out. it was a combination of organizer's work, of direct involvement with communities, of seeing what the GOP desires and how much they are able to destroy, of the chance of gen z outvoting boomers, that pushed everyone to work overtime to get us across the finish line. it is a combination of chance of current events combining to the perfect storm, luck for the circumstances and Michigan's unique situation (like all states having unique situations), but also heavy heavy heavy and consistent consistent consistent daily weekly and monthly work.

THAT is why michigan is blue. because we believed. because we hoped. because we got together and put in the work. because we pushed and we knew that there was a big possibility we wouldn't succeed, but we tried.

you have to try too. you have to contribute too. it is never too late to get involved. no matter what the stakes are, or how successful it is, you never know what the outcome will be 100%.

Fars Agency: "Explosions were heard near Isfahan Airport and the Ashtam Shakri base.” (Approx. 200 km from the top of the Persian Gulf.).  Iranian reports: there were 3 explosions in Isfaya, and the force of the explosions shook the area.

Israel’s early morning retaliatory strike, however, appeared to be “limited,” a military source told Fox News.  No statements out of Israel.

Many Iranian residents have documented explosions in various areas of Iran using suicide drones.  Iran is currently denying.

Attacks in Syria and Iraq as well.  Reports of loud explosions heard in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad.  In Syria reports of attacks on airports in Yizraa, Al-Talaa, and a radar station by Karpa.

Conflicting reports if attack was on Iran air base, or on nearby Iranian nuclear development facility.

SC vs ND: SC obviously (and I need them to destroy those zionists) and I think Oregon St. could make something happen but I think after the Naismith "snub" (quotes cause I'm 50-50 on this) Hannah is gonna be on one and Oregon St. doesn't have anyone who can stop her.

Texas vs Stanford: Texas because Gonzaga does nothing for me and Stanford v NC-State is gonna be really interesting, but ultimately I don't see how NC-State stops Cam and Kiki.

Iowa vs UCLA: Listen I think Colorado can beat Iowa. I just don't think they can beat the refs+Iowa+the narrative the networks want. The same honestly could be said for LSU-UCLA because the LSU-Iowa rematch is what the NCAA wanted but I think UCLA can overcome that (as opposed to Colorado) because they're a better team and because LSU has been unimpressive to me

UConn vs USC: Baylor does not impress me at all and well the UConn-Duke matchup *pray pray pray* I'mma shut up about it because I'm not in the mood to jinx things

Final 4:

SC vs Stanford: I think the ND vs SC game will be a lot better than the one in Paris but SC is just too much at the end of the day. And again with Stanford-Texas, I could see it go either way but I just don't see Texas stopping Cam-Kiki both

UCLA vs UConn: UCLA is a better team but again there's a narrative and refs and even despite that as we saw last year, it could still be Iowa, but I still think it's gonna be UCLA. USC vs UConn, Juju vs Paige might cancel out but I'd like to think the rest of the UConn team (if they show up) is better than the USC also just who's gonna guard Aaliyah?

SC vs UConn: I do actually have Stanford in my bracket but as you said they're kinda not giving me the greatest vibes and well SC is SC. On the other side though, fuck it, in Paige Bueckers we believe. But also, I think this is a much better team than the one that faced UCLA in November. We were figuring things out and the team's morale was really low, I think we'll be much better. Also never underestimate Cori Close's ability to be outcoached especially if it's Geno of all people. A

Champion: I'm not gonna say it but y'all know what I'm thinking. Does it make sense to pick SC? Yes. If you're a betting person, do that. But me I'm here for vibe so once again, fuck it, in Paige Bueckers we believe!

How the Prison Realm is a worse solitary confinement and what that means for Gojo Satoru:

With Gege stating that they hope to end the series this year and Gojo possibly being released from the Prison Realm very soon, I decided that it was time to write about my favorite theory for the series, especially since I haven't seen anyone else make a full documentation about it.

Content Warning! This theory will discuss in depth about horrific prison conditions, torture, suicide, self-harm, and severe mental health problems.

Spoilers for the manga up to Chapter 213.

To start off I HIGHLY recommend reading This post explaining the theory about Gojo’s left eye! Its very interesting and some of its concepts overlap with this theory. 

What exactly is solitary confinement?

Solitary confinement (SC) is a method used in prisons to punish disobedient/dangerous inmates. SC is carried out by isolating the inmate within a small room that's typically 6x9 ft. The cells may or may not have windows to see out of, have just enough room to contain a bed and a toilet with little space to walk around in, have blank walls, and little to no way to tell the time. Inmates are typically kept within the cells for 22-24 hours a day for however long the prison deems necessary. This can span from a couple of days to years.

The only contact inmates typically receive when held within a SC cell is restricted to the prison guards that give them food through a smaller door built into the steel door that keeps them trapped.

SC’s conditions have SEVERE effects on both mental health and physical health.

The psychological effects of SC are as follows:

Anxiety / Paranoia / Obsessive thoughts

Aggression / Decline in impulse control

Depression / PTSD

Insomnia / Loss of Identity

Cognitive disturbances / Psychosis

Losing touch with reality 

Increase risk of Self-harm and suicide

Hypersensitivity

The physical effects are as follows:

The shrinking of the hippocampus / Surges in the amygdala

Slowed brain activity / Worsening of intellect

Social Pain (Body translates this into physical pain)

Worsening of perceptual motor skills

Fewer/smaller/decreased connections of neurons

Fewer blood vessels in the brain

Hypertension / Increased heart rate / Shaking

Muscle atrophy / degradation of eyesight

Weakness / Loss of weight

To put it simply SC is designed to break its prisoners. Many of those who have been through SC have stated they would injure themselves to remind themselves that they are still real or even to force guards to enter the cells so that they could have a shred of human contact, even if it means being beaten by the guards and obtaining a longer sentence. Those who have gotten out have said the effects are long term and they have become afraid of being in open spaces or afraid of interacting with people. 

There is no benefit to SC, it makes violent inmates worse and non-violent inmates can become aggressive.

Many inmates commit suicide within SC or eventually do so after release due to the resulting mental health issues. The United Nations declared SC for more than 15 consecutive days to be torture.

Now that you know what the conditions/effects of SC are, lets take a look at how that relates to the Prison Realm (PR).

We only have a single image of what the inside of the PR looks like.

And just by this singular image you can immediately find similarities between the PR and SC:

Little to no room- While SC gives you at least a little room to walk around, the PR seems to have ZERO room for its inmate to move around in. Seemingly it contains its inmate within the dimensions of that persons body.

Complete isolation- The PR is a pocket dimension designed to completely separate its inmate from the rest of the world with absolutely no contact with the outside world or any other living beings.

No way to tell the time- Gojo states that time doesn't pass within the PR which means he will have no way of knowing how many hours, days or even years have passed while he’s contained within. 

Kenjaku even tells us that like SC the PR can only contain a single inmate and that the only ways out of it is either by being released intentionally or by suicide. Considering the current known similarities its no wonder Jogo states that the PR is taboo.

There's also symbolism that implies that Gojo wont be coming out of the PR the same as when he entered it.

As an artist I can tell you that blotting out the face the way that the PR does to Gojo’s before his capture is something we use often to symbolize a few things. Its been used to show that someone is inauthentic (eyes are the window of the soul) and/or that that person is corrupted. 

Trains are also a symbolism here since they can represent change and a transitional period. 

One thing that I think shows that the PR has some sort of effect on its inmate is the fact that Kenjaku wants to one day release Gojo from it. Its become obvious that Kenjaku does everything simply due to scientific curiosity and I believe that this is no exception to that. If the PR does effect Gojo, Kenjaku would ABSOLUTLY want to release him to observe its effects.

And if the PR effects Gojo the same way as SC would than it will be catastrophic.

Gojo has already shown signs of mental instability throughout the series. He’s unhinged when taking a fight seriously and seemingly had a manic episode during his rematch with Toji.

And after he kills Toji, when Geto finally arrives he seems to have started dissociating. Which he relies on Geto to help guide him and make the right choices.

Gojo has also shown multiple times that he wants to simply kill all the higher ups and be done with them all. 

Jujutsu Kaisen has had many moments that discuss mental health, whether that be during Geto’s downfall, Yuta stating he attempted suicide or Yuji’s current declining mental health and willingness to die. Gege knows what he’s talking about and its abundantly clear that the PR is based off of SC. 

This means Gojo is undoubtedly going to have serious issues when he’s finally released from the PR. 

He’ll be more aggressive than ever, his impulse control will be fucked, he might come out of there hallucinating and unable to even tell what’s real. Which if all of this is the case there is NO chance that the higher ups wont be slaughtered. He already wanted to kill them before and now that most of his friends are dead, his students are mutilated, the higher ups have exiled him and finally him losing the two children its implied that he raised? I can’t imagine he won’t finally snap. 

We’ve seen what happens to those jujutsu society deems worthless from both Maki and Toji. Maki murdered her entire clan and Toji became an unstable mess. It won’t be surprising if we will finally get to see what happens when they put ALL the expectations on someone. When they demand perfection. 

Gojo has been able to pick himself back up every time something has gone wrong, but I don’t think he will be able to do that this time. 

The higher ups at the very least will die, that I’m sure of; However, I think Gojo might take down both the Kamo and Gojo clan too. If he’s in such an unstable state he might just say ‘fuck it’ and kill everyone who had a hand in keeping their society the way it is. 

Gojo has now been in the PR for 16 days. This exceeds the UNs limit of 15 days for being held in SC.

Ukrainian pilots start training in F-16 based in Arizona

Ukrainian pilots began training of the F-16 in Arizona with the Arizona National Air Guard, leaving Kiev one step closer to acquiring the U.S.-made fighters that Ukraine says it needs to help defend its sovereign territory and its citizens from Russian troops.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink announced the training in the X, saying: “This is an essential part of the construction of Ukraine's air defense. The United States is proud to work with European partners to support Ukraine against Russia's brutal aggression."

A National Guard spokesman said on Thursday that the 162ª Wing of the Arizona National Air Guard in Tucson began training a small number of Ukrainian pilots this week “in the fundamentals of the F-16”, with the training expected to last several months. Normally, F-16 training courses last about eight months, according to the Pentagon.

Training at Morris National Guard Air Base follows English training at Lackland Air Base in Texas last month. Proficiency in English is required to fly F-16 fighters.

During a press conference in Brussels earlier this month, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that F-16 fighters could reach Ukraine by the middle of next year.

The deputy chief of staff of the U.S. Air Force, General David Allvin, said that the F-16 aircraft will be important for Ukraine in the long term, as the Ukrainian Air Force will be able to fully integrate the new fighters into its armed forces.

The news came at a time when the United States announced that it would provide up to $150 million in additional military aid to Ukraine.

The package includes more GMLRS rockets for high-mobility artillery rocket systems, ammunition for the National Advanced Surface-Air Missile System, TOW anti-tank missiles, AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles and 155 mm cartridges.

The availability of 155 mm cartridges has raised concerns in recent days, as U.S. partners, Ukraine and Israel need them to fight their wars - one against the invasion of Russia, the other against the Palestinian militant group Hamas, which killed hundreds of Israelis and kidnapped more than 200 others in an attack on October 7.

Washington said it is able to support the military needs of Tel Aviv and Kiev.

The final battle but is just a snowball fight and Les Amis are just really dramatic. And instead of the national guard it's Gavroche and his friends. At first les amis were going easy on them, but they quickly figured out kids move fast, and can hide real easy.

"Well well well, look what we have here boys," Gavroche smirks from the tree branch he sat. He held a snow ball as he stared down at Courfeyrac and Combeferre.

"You may think you have the upper hand, but there are two of us and one tiny you," Combeferre challenged. Big mistake.

"Is there, mon ami?" Suddenly three other boys appeared.

Courfeyrac held on to Combeferre in fear, "Now look what you've done. Gavroche, I'm always there for you. Take him. Please have mercy."

"Sorry, but this is a war. Fire!" Gavroche and his friends throw snowballs at the two as they both fall to the ground.

"We've been ambushed, up in the trees!"

Joly, Bossuet, and Grantaire didn't take is seriously at first, but now the two lost the drunk. They ran a bit hearing the snow crunch under their shoes. They heard the kids running after them and Joly's cane got stuck and he fell, "Go without me! Protect Musichetta! You both were the light of my life!"

Bossuet shook his head, tears threatening to fall as he ran toward joly picking him up in his arms grabbing his cane and running, "I'll never leave you."

The time it took for Bossuet to backtrack to get joly, was all the time the kids needed to get them in the line of fire. One boy throw one at Bossuet's head.

Upon feeling the snow that ricochet off his friends head, joly looked up. Bossuet had gone still in shock. He fell to his knees as collapse onto his side.

Joly moved so he can cradle his head before looking up at the sky, "noooooo!"

The kid laugh and moved on to joly hitting him in the side.

Somewhere along the way the kids took Jehan Prouvaire hostage. He was heavily guarded by two kids with arms full of snowballs. Feuilly was watching their moves. He needed to find a weakness. Without someone else, he was weak. He told the group they shouldn't have split up, but the kids forced them too.

He could hear jehan, "Vive la France! Long live France! Long live the future!"

Followed by a child's voice, "Shut up!" Before he heard what sounded like a snowball to the face.

Feuilly whispered, "no... no Jehan."

He was then spotted by the guards, "Spy!"

Before he can turn to run, multiple snowballs had hit him in the chest.

"Marius!" Eponine shouts as she jumps infront of a snowball. She gasped feeling so cold. Marius took her in his arms.

"No 'ponine, why would you do that!?" He cried.

Eponine smiled, "because Cosette is waiting for you inside with hot chocolate. You deserve to enjoy it." She was whispering as Marius watched he close her eyes. He sat there holding her until Cosette told them to come join the for their hot Coco.

Eponine perked up and lead Marius inside, this caused Gavroche to whine, "You're Supposed to be dead!"

Marius smiled and ruffled his hair, "Go get Grantaire, he doesn't believe you can do it."

Gavroche smirked and did as suggested.

Bahorel was up against a tree. His breath was the only thing he heard as he scanned the place around him. It was quiet... too quiet.

His hands shook from either the fear, or the cold. He gulped looking in the trees, not daring to move his back away from the tree.

He should have escaped with the others. Now he was alone. Suddenly a twig snapped. He threw a snow ball in the direction. There was nothing. He was going crazy. They're just a bunch of kids. Why was he so sc-

"Boo!" Bahorel screamed as a kid came from around the tree and throw a snow ball at him. Then another came and put one in his hood, pulling it up over his head. He was defeated.

Enjolras hid behind the snow barricade he and his friends had made. He couldn't see anyone. He was alone. When he turned around he saw a group of kids, lead by petit Gavroche. Enjolras held his head in pride, at the army of kids. He was so proud

Gavroche stepped forward with a dark chuckle, "it seems your barricade has fallen Monsieur, any last words before we finish you off?"

"Long live the republic! I am one of them!" A voice called out.

Enjolras let his gaze fall on Grantaire who claimed the game was a waist of time. He watched him drop a snow ball and walk towards him.

He repeated, "Long Live the Republic." He stood beside Enjolras, "Finish both of us at one blow."

He than looked at Enjolras, "Will you permit it?"

Enjolras smiled and took his hand. He held onto him tightly.

"Ew! Fire boys." Gavroche called as the boys threw the snowballs once more. With that they claimed their victory. Les Amis, never stood a chance.

Far-right conservative Matt Gaetz, a Florida Congressman, is coming to Greenville to help campaign against his colleague William Timmons.   Gaetz will join South Carolina state representative and Fourth Congressional District Candidate Adam Morgan to keynote a campaign rally on April 23 at the Greenville Marriott.   “I’m looking forward to welcoming Congressman Gaetz to South Carolina,” said Morgan in a press release. “Matt is a strong leader in Congress and I’m thankful to have his support, as well as several other conservative members of Congress, who are committed to consistently fighting for conservative ideals and winning.”  Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the rally beginning at 6:30. Tickets required for entrance can be found here.  “Congress needs more America First warriors willing to fight the establishment, the uniparty and the special interests,” said Congressman Gaetz. “Adam Morgan is that warrior who will join me to fight the DC swamp to take back our country and restore our conservative values. I enthusiastically endorse his candidacy for South Carolina’s Fourth Congressional District and am excited to have him fighting with me soon for the country we love.”  Morgan, an extreme conservative who chairs the SC Freedom Caucus, recently garnered national attention on the social media app X, formerly known as Twitter, when he posted a video of him on the South Carolina House Floor claiming that dark money groups were behind the pressure for him to vote for an economic development.  “My constituents told me to vote no on the $1.3 billion VW project ($400 million of which is taxpayer cash). But the swamp wants me to ignore those ‘back home,’” Morgan posted to X, which received 1.3 million views.  Gaetz responded to Morgan’s post, saying “Inject this into my veins.” Gaetz has also openly spoken about Timmons on X, saying “We need better Republicans than this.”   Still, earlier this year, Timmons garnered former President Donald Trump’s endorsement for a second time.  "Congressman William Timmons is a terrific advocate for the people of South Carolina's 4th Congressional District," Trump said in a press release. A captain in the Air National Guard, he fights hard to secure our border, strengthen our military, support our veterans, grow the economy, defend our Second Amendment, and hold Joe Biden and the Radical Left Accountable. Review: This is a book that is great in some places, less so in others. I was actually tempted to stop reading it part way through because of how the story ends, and there will be spoilers in this review.

This book is a lot about failure, and overcoming failure, and then more and more failure. So much failure. This is a dude who... fails. He also succeeds but where the heart of the story is, well it's in his failures. He manages to end up in the famed Green Berets as a medic and assigned to Project Delta/B-52 but is basically kicked out for being a liability. He ends up in the 101st with their brigade LRRP team where he finds his first home. For those of you who read a lot about the VN war, you'll recognize a lot of the cast of characters in this section, with a majority of the focus being on his relationship with Rey Martinez. He then bounces around a bit, a little time in Germany, some time training medical stuff at replacement centers, and eventually as an Advisor in a few different areas. Throughout all of this he falls in love, fucks up the relationships, gets into a fucked up relationship, does a lot of drugs, gets drunk a lot, gets in trouble a lot, and eventually marries a VN woman who he later drifts apart from even though staying close to his brother in law who he fought with. At one point he tries to kill his XO and is court-martialed for it, but somehow manages to serve his time and rejoin the army for a very long career - totally unheard of but true! The problem with the book is that it is uneven, which keeps it from being a 5 star book... his coverage of certain battles is super finely detailed whereas his court martial and time in jail is barely a wisp of text. He tells more about using drugs and drinking than he does talking about his role as a medic and the training. Overall a good book and fills in some more stories from the 101st and the 302nd RF Co. He does a great job with the other cast of characters, and their stories and it's worth it just for that.
