There needs to be a vigilante AU where Midoriya and Todoroki are both vigilantes, who start out only seeing each other in passing. Eventually they’re forced to work together, and over time they fall in love and become an inseparable duo.
Everyone makes Todoroki a hero in vigilante aus, and while I can understand that it is for the dynamic between Midoriya and Todoroki, everyone forgets that Todoroki is just as willing to throw himself into situations that break the law to save people. He almost threw hands with the chief of police over it ffs.

Random Quirkless Pro Hero Deku facts
- Pro Hero Izuku has a lot of weaponry on him at all times but he’s personally a big fan of knives. He’s usually got at least 5 or 6 on him at all times in all different sizes. He likes them because they’re multi-use, intimidating and, in the hands of a skilled wielder (like Izuku definitely is) can end fights without permanent damage. His favorite knife is the one he stole off of Stain to Iida’s dismay but its just a really good knife okay, Tenya, nothing personal.
-  Todoroki is rescue hero working at Froppy’s agency in Nara (kind of the middle of nowhere). He doesn’t really get involved in the big villain battles unless he’s caught up in them, does no marketing for himself, rarely takes interviews, does his best to just be another hero... and yet he’s #20 in the charts. He is the highest ranked rescue hero who goes out of his way to avoid the spotlight and he doesn’t know why he’s so highly ranked. This is because he doesn’t understand the overwhelming power of THIRSTY fans.
- Izuku and Katsuki have a very special relationship. They read each other so well, are a well-oiled, scarily efficient team in battle. Outside of that, they’re disasters. Due to past experiences with ‘friendly spars’ that have gotten out of control they need a minimum of 2 babysitters pro heroes to spot them and be in a qualified facility before they go at it (which they don’t always do). Most every time they meet up they’ve got to rough house a bit to everyone’s horror. Bakugou will get loud and indignant if you call them friends but then rant for 30 minutes on why Deku is one of the best damn heroes he’s ever known.
- Speaking of which, on an operations level Izuku and Katsuki are much better separated than partnered. Kiri much more approachable and adds a sense of balance to Bakugou which is why he’s #1 not long after Izuku leaves. Izuku/Katsuki together were terrifying but a little bit too chaotic? They egged each other on where Kiri calms Bakugou down and Izuku forced to be “in charge” (as composed to constantly competing with Bakugou) of others also makes him less reckless. They’re still a brutally efficient combo but they’ve both agreed that separation really helped them grow.
- Gran Torino went senile not long after Izuku graduated Yuuei having fulfilled his promise to both Nana and Toshi and couldn’t fight any more. Izuku took care of him the best he can and put the old hero up in a luxurious old age home, he visited once a week watching more and more of his mentor slip away. He died when Izuku was still working at Two Hero with Bakugou and it was one of his incentives for leaving the agency and forming One For All.
- Shinsou ended up in the Hero course during their second year, but he went to 1B. Still maintained a good relationship with Izuku and the 1C gang. After graduation, he was surprised when Yaoyorozu offered him a position at her agency. He works there mainly in intelligence gathering, interrogation and general agency management. He still does field work but not nearly to the extent of other heroes.
- Shinsou and Izuku are the lowest ranked in their grade, Shinsou being in the 90s while Izuku is in the high 70s. Izuku will never let his friend forget that he, quirkless and hated by the system, is higher ranked than Shinsou. Its really because Shinsou is kind of a reclusive hero only known because he works at such a prestigious agency. If and when Shinsou decides to make an effort at his popularity it’s all over for Izuku. Until then, Izuku will lord it over him.
- As for the 1C gang, Patrick moved back to America right after graduation. He’s doing odds and ends, still trying to figure out what he wants to do. Does frequent calls/visits to Japan to visit his high school friends. Korudo did end up working his father’s company but on his own terms, donates a lot to Izuku’s AFO foundation. Izuku probably sees Taketsu the most, she’s a quirk lawyer and works with Izuku professionally in terms of quirk advocacy and advancement.
- Hero Names: Bakugou - Kacchan, Todoroki - stays as Shouto, Aoyoma - Lumiere, Shinsou - Hypnos
- As soon as he graduated, Izuku moved into All Might’s old apartment because he couldn’t stand to sell it. He left it almost identical only converting the back study and pretty much living out of boxes the first few years. He’s very, very slowly taking down All Might’s things and putting up his own but each change involves a lot of struggle and crying, but it feels like healing. In addition, Toshi was able to change his will before dying so Izuku inherited an insane amount of money from All Might’s estate. He couldn’t spend it all in his lifetime if he tried. He mostly keeps it away but donates a lot of it to AFO and other charities.
- Deku is a fan favorite as far submissive ships go. In every fan pairing he’s put in (and there are some wild one out there) he is the delicate, submissive quirkless partner. When asked on it, 1A just comments “have you ever actually seen Deku??” still the trope persists. Popular fan pairings are Bakudeku, Shoudeku, Iideku and Uradeku.
- The Class has varying ways of referring to one another, most of them feel comfortable calling each other by their first names but almost all continue to call Iida by his surname (except Ochako and Izuku when he’s feeling annoyed/sappy). Izuku and Katsuki have a whole language of names within the names they call each other, all you should know is that if you hear Izuku say “Bakugou” or Katsuki “Izu-chan” you better run like hell.
- Midoriya Hisashi was officially killed halfway through Izuku’s Third Year in a villian attack at his office in America. Inko was distraught but Izuku really couldn’t bring himself to mourn a man he never knew (and was already exhausted still grieving for All Might). Inko and Izuku got a sizable payout from it, ensuring Inko will be able to live comfortably for the rest of her life. Izuku never touched the money, relying first on All Might’s money then his own when he had to. ((Most people know I’m pretty ham for DFO so let me say this, on paper “Midoriya Hisashi” was killed it’s up to you if someone else is still around)
- While OFA doesn’t have any permanent staff, it does have heroes who frequently work there. It started this way because Izuku couldn’t get any heroes to permanently attach and kept it up once he realized the versatility it gave him. Shouto and Uravity usually do at least one or two stints a year. Pretty much all of the unattached heroes of 1A have worked with Deku multiple times (even a few attached, Ingenium surprising everyone by leaving his agency for a month to work with his old friend). Lemillion does it when his schedule allows and a few veteran heroes like Present Mic and Cementoss have done work there as well. And while Number One Kacchan hasn’t officially worked at One For All, he and Red Riot partner do enough inter-agency work that they kind of have.
- Over the years OFA acquired the respect of many heroes but there’s still assholes who refuse to take orders from a quirkless man. Now officially Deku has no problems with those who do not wish to work with him, it’s well within their rights. However, he’ll usually slyly make it known that people have turned down offers from him or spoke against him. And suddenly those bigoted heroes find they’re getting less support from those connected to Deku (a number that grows bigger by the year). There are less team-ups, less chance of being voted for hero titles, more whispers about how a hero being quirkist in this age is so old-fashioned and not cool. The heroes are like ??? how the hell did this happen while Deku sits there and smiles, not having lifted a finger. He’s a kind man but a vindictive one for sure.
- Izuku named his foundation after All For One, the villain who terrorized Japan and ultimately killed All Might, purely out of spite. While Izuku never confronted him in this universe, he knows the villain is still out there. The AFO Foundation took a name that was once feared and turned it into something that could bring people hope. He wanted to tell all the wannabe criminals who would recognize the name that Izuku knows and he’s not afraid. Also he still considers it his duty as AM’s successor to stop him so the Foundation is two middle fingers up to AFO as a challenge.
- Rikimaru-shishou (Izuku and later Shinsou’s martial arts teacher in TLWA) has mostly retired from teaching, only taking a few students here and there. Izuku still keeps in contact when possible, meeting up for a friendly spar when he can squeeze it in. Most of the students Daiki takes these days are kids Izuku recommends with puppy dog eyes.
-Mirio and Izuku end up developing a pretty good relationship. It starts when Izuku tries to intern with Nighteye in his first year and it’s pretty ugly. Nighteye refuses to take him but some, not all, of the Izuku/OFA/Mirio situation comes out. Mirio is very disturbed that his mentor was grooming him to be All Might 2 and kind of separates from Sir and takes Izuku’s side. Really excited by Deku’s vision for a better hero society and they have a big/lil brother relationship. Is super okay when Izuku takes the SoP title from him, like Izuku not bothered with rankings but he knows how important it is to his bro.
- So good news first, Mirio and Tamaki are long term partners and adopt a little girl, Koharu, who has a ‘villainous’ quirk and was abandoned by her family. Mirio being on paternity leave is one of the factors that allows Izuku to take the SoP away from him. So uh bad news, Eri was never recovered during TLWA version of the Overhaul arc. Don’t ask me exact details cause I don’t know lol but Izuku wasn’t really involved and Overhaul and few of his men managed to flee Japan with Eri and haven’t been found since. Mirio and Tamaki both took the loss to heart which is why they wanted to try and pay back that mistake. They’re both great dads though.
- Due to being so outrageously busy during their first year as Pros, Bakugou forgot to maintain a regular haircut schedule so it started to grow out. Izuku and some others commented that the longer hair looked good on him. It got to the point where it was getting in the way so he ties it back in a little tail that looks like a little explosion. That, and his permanent facial scruff, make him a very attractive hero but his personality still leaves a lot to be desired.

Bakutodo number 10. Everyone want to know who is dating pro hero Shouto, all the fans and media talk about it, pairing him with almost all the guys except bakugou and he gets angry because he is the one dating todoroki, so he does something to make them realize todoroki is his. Thank you, you are the best ❤

tdbk: [10] aged up characters
৵( °͜ °৵) my face when writing this
***
“In recent news, the internet is absolutely ablaze with rumors concerning pro-hero Shouto after pictures surfaced of him off-duty at a café with fellow hero, Deku. Things are heating up as Shouto continues to neither confirm nor deny these rumors.”
“Well, Natsuko-san, we have to remember that Shouto is known to be friendly with numerous heroes. Just look at these photos of him with Ingenium captured last month: the two look awfully close.”
“I agree. Shouto also spends a lot of time with Uravity and Creati. It’s impossible for the press to pin him down to one partner: there are just too many to choose from! I’m favoring ‘Shouravity’ myself, but ‘Shoudeku’ is also—“
Bakugou presses the remote’s off button so hard that he nearly breaks it. “What. The. Fuck?” he says out loud, glaring at his own reflection in the black TV screen. He pretends it’s that bastard Todoroki, who swore him to secrecy about their relationship. What’s the fucking point of that, anyway? And why does the damn media never put them together?!
“Bakugou!” There’s a loud knock after the shout. “Open up! I brought you tangerines!”
“The fuck?” Bakugou scoffs, vaulting the couch to reach the door. “Oh, it’s you, Round Face.” He doesn’t have time to get out another word before she shoves two full bags of tangerines into his hands. “Okay, what the hell is this?”
“My aunt visited from Sapporo and brought these. Tsuyu and I have way too many of them, so everyone gets some—including you and Todoroki.” She peeks over Bakugou’s shoulder, like Icy Hot might be hiding behind the couch. “Is he home?”
“Get in here before you start small-talking.” Bakugou pulls her inside by the sweatshirt hood. “Haven’t you heard? That bastard’s in a committed relationship with Deku now. Him and every other fucking hero in the city.”
“What?” Uraraka takes a seat at the kitchen island with a frown while Bakugou starts unpacking the ungodly amount of tangerines. “What do you mean by that? He’s head-over-heels for you.”
“Don’t say it like that,” Bakugou stresses. “Fuck. Haven’t you been watching the news lately, Gravity? Icy Hot’s in a love affair with everybody but me.”
“Oh, you meant that!” Uraraka lets out a breath. “I thought you were serious. That’s just the pro-shippers, Bakugou: it’s all just fluffy rumors and speculation. People think you and Kirishima are a couple all the time.”
“But why doesn’t anybody put him and I together?” Bakugou grumbles. “Don’t we have chemistry? It’s obvious we fucking do. Dammit, this is pissing me off.”
“It really bothers you, huh?” Uraraka reaches over to grab a tangerine. “You know it’s not true, though. Why don’t you two just come clean to the media?”
“That Half bastard doesn’t want to. He says it’ll ‘invade our personal life’ or some shit.”
“Well, he’s not wrong. Tsu and I had cameras tailing us for weeks when we went public… But if the whole thing really bothers you that much, you should find some kind of solution.”
“Solution?” Bakugou frowns at Uraraka’s hands as they pull off pieces of orange fruit skin. “What kind of… solution?”
“Dunno: it’s between you guys.” She tosses the peel in the trash on her way to the door. “I’ve gotta get home, but I hope you clear things up.”
Clear things up, huh? Bakugou thinks an absolutely terrible idea might be starting to form…
***
“What is this?”
Bakugou looks up at Todoroki innocently as soon as he hears the confrontational tone of his voice. “What’s what?”
“You know what.” Todoroki gestures at the back of his hero uniform. “It’s obviously you that put this here. ‘Property of Ground Zero’? Who else would sew this into my clothes?”
“No fucking idea,” Bakugou mutters, studiously avoiding eye contact. This is the only idea he could come up with, and it seems childish after the fact. Not that he’ll ever admit that, of course. “Guess you’ll have to go out like that. Damn.”
“I can’t believe you…” Todoroki pulls on a jacket, quietly fuming. “This isn’t over. We need ta talk when I get back.”
“Uh-huh,” Bakugou says, watching him go. When the door closes, he mutters, “Wonder how long it’ll take him to notice the jacket says the same thing.”
The answer is never. When Bakugou flips on the TV after returning from his own hero work, there’s a—rather flattering—picture of Todoroki taken from behind, still wearing the ‘Property of Ground Zero’ jacket. Even though he meant for this exact thing to happen, Bakugou almost chokes on his water.
“The news is now on fire with these steaming hot pictures of Shouto wearing what appears to be a calling card of fellow hero, Ground Zero,” one of the news anchor announces cheerfully to her co-hosts. “As usual, Shouto is neither confirming nor denying—and the rumor mill is certainly churning!”
“Does he even need to confirm it?” another anchor replies. “I mean, the evidence is right in front of our eyes—and the new ‘Shouzero’ tag is already trending!”
Oh fuck. Well, Bakugou’s definitely dead as soon as Todoroki gets back. But hell, at least the whole world knows now: Icy Hot is fucking his, and nobody else’s. Of course, that won’t save him from a verbal smack-down.
“What on earth were you thinking? We agreed to keep it a secret, and you went and exposed our relationship to the whole world in the worst way possible—“
“I wouldn’t say it was the worst way possible.”
“Don’t interrupt me when I’m mad at you.”
Rather than sitting through an hour-long rant, Bakugou takes Todoroki by the hips and pastes on his best apologetic smile. It probably looks more like a satisfied smirk, but he’s trying, dammit. “I’m sorry you’re pissed, okay? I couldn’t stand the endless rumors about you and literally everyone else. I’m a little obsessed with you, y’know?”
Todoroki sighs, but his hands move to Bakugou’s elbows. “You should’ve talked to me. I’m actually reasonable, unlike you.” He pauses, lips twitching into that maddening half-smile that Bakugou can never get enough of. “But I’m a bit obsessed with you, too.”
“Good.” Bakugou pulls him into a too-tight hug that neither of them really mind. “You’re not allowed to grow tired of me, just so you know.”
“As if that would ever happen. I’m branded with your name now, after all.”

“Raison D'être”
Chapter 6: Hanging Heavy.
Anime: Boku No Hero Academia Pairings: TodoDeku [Todoroki Shouto x Midoriya Izuku] Rating: Teens and Up Words: 24,894 Status: Ongoing Chapters: 6/? [multi-chapter] Chapter Summary: It was a month after Todoroki started refusing to use his fire side and Endeavor was getting desperate, that he was presented a small freckled green-haired child. “A pet, a toy, a friend. Call him whatever. He’s yours.”
Mirrors: FFN | Ao3
AN:
First of all, I'm sorry if it looked like Midoriya and Todoroki would have gone through with their fight, that isn't what I meant at all. And Midoriya already gave an order back there, soya.
And just a heads up, I want to be clear to all of you that I don't hate Bakugou. (LOL! That's exactly what someone who hates Bakugou would say. xD But seriously...) I just don't think he's done enough to redeem himself canon-wise. I just want more from him, that's all. So, please don't take offense. I just figured it would be nice to exploit that little weakness everyone seems to be forgetting. In this story, he will serve as the passive-aggressive wingman. Like, the devil on their shoulders. ;3
"Raison D'être"
Chapter 06: Hanging Heavy.
Even though Todoroki was the one who forfeited, the one who gave up and surrendered. Midoriya was the one who walked away in tears, the one who ultimately lost. And the worst part was not that he knew continuing the fight wouldn't have changed the outcome, it was the fact that he knew Todoroki wasn't wrong. Well, he knew he wasn't wrong either but... it was just sad. The sad and pathetic reality that the strong have the privilege to do whatever they want with their power. While weak people like him, are left to struggle for as much as they can without ever really getting anything out of it. Feelings, reason, and circumstances don't matter after all. Not when the result doesn't offer change.
Todoroki advanced to the next round, and even though no one seems to be happy about this development, including the audience, the show went on. Midoriya didn't go back to the stands right away, choosing to spend time by himself to cool off. Thinking about how he would have to explain to All Might everything that happened, regardless of whether everything was broadcasted live on national television. And then there was Endeavor. But he didn't want to think about that yet. After a couple more battles, Todoroki's next fight was announced, and the green-haired teen made his way back out to watch the rest of the competition. Everyone seemed to be giving him concerned looks as he made his way to the front of their seats. He slid down beside Kirishima, which he belatedly realized was a mistake.
"Dude, are you okay?" The redhead tried to reach out a comforting hand, but decided against it halfway.
"Do I look okay?" Midoriya was gritting his teeth, but it's not like he meant to be rude. He just doesn't really want to talk about it right now.
"Yeah, well I mean..." Kirishima sank back.
But before Midoriya thought they would finally leave him alone for now, Kaminari spoke from behind them. "Dude, you just like, rejected the prettiest boy in class! On national tv!"
Midoriya felt incredulous. "That's what you're worried about?"
"Well yeah, dude. Because you broke your Bocchan's heart..." Kaminari continued, as if not getting a hint.
"Which is so not manly by the way, not that we didn't get your point." Kirishima took the blond's side, recoiling after being glared at.
The green-haired teen shakes his head with a sigh. "Oh, my God... I'm not gonna stand for this."
Midoriya stands from his seat before Kaminari could retort about how he was actually sitting, only to stop in his tracks as the biggest iceberg he's ever seen erupted out of nowhere.
As it turns out, it came from his Bocchan, who had just won his fight against Sero. They didn't even notice the fight started, thanks to the duo, not that it mattered or changed anything.
"See, Midoriya? You made Todoroki upset." Kaminari really needs to put a sock in it.
"Man, remind me never to get on his bad side." Kirishima comments, before a string of 'Don't Mind' erupted from the rest of the audience.
But Midoriya just stared, unaffected. He knew this wasn't his Bocchan's best yet.
It didn't take long until there were only two contenders left. Todoroki and Bakugou. The audience roared in cheers as the two made their way on either side of the arena, a mix of suspense and tension palpable among class 1-A.
"So, who do you think'll win, Midoriya?" Kaminari leans on his backrest, he really needs to respect personal space.
"Bocchan, of course." The green-haired teen answers with a huff, he's had his arms crossed and mouth in a pout since Sero's fight because of their teasing. And no one's letting up.
"How do you know?" Kirishima asked from beside him, hoping for some smart analysis like the freckled teen usually gives.
But that wasn't the case for this one. "Because I told him so." Midoriya's face didn't show confidence or pride, he just looked like someone stating a fact.
Kaminari and Kirishima glanced at each other with an awkward smile before looking back at the arena, just in time to see Todoroki attack first with a huge whirlwind of cold wind. Not ice. And it wasn't even directed at Bakugou, but upwards to the great expanse above them. It looked like a hurricane, it felt like it too, spreading chilly air around the stadium in powerful gusts, with Todoroki at the eye of the storm.
The view cleared out soon enough to reveal the two standing in the middle of the arena as they had before, Todoroki's first attack not seeming to have any effect at all. But the bi-haired kid's words seem to imply completely otherwise. "Sorry, Bakugou. But Izuku asked me to win so I will."
"No way in hell, you half-ass fucktard." Bakugou remained in a defensive stance, preparing to attack at any given chance. Except he might not get one, he realized that belatedly as he felt a shiver travel up his spine. Todoroki was just standing there, in front of him. But it's not like he needed to move or say anything for him to understand what was really going on. He already felt it. It was cold, his breath coming out in white puffs. "Man, I really hate your type."
And as the rest of the people in the stadium slowly registered the sudden drop in temperature, the first flake of snow fell overhead.
"Holy-!" Kirishima stood gaping at the dark and cloudy sky, they didn't even notice when the weather changed. "It's snowing!"
"Todoroki made it snow in the middle of summer!" Kaminari exclaimed, hands pulling on his hair.
"I don't get it, so what?" Mineta wrapped his arms around himself, shivering. "That attack didn't do anything, now it's just cold."
Yaoyorozu was the kind soul who offered an explanation, as well as the one who started making space blankets for everyone. "Well, I mean. Bakugou's explosion comes from the nitroglycerin in his sweat so..."
"That means-!" Kaminari turned back to the fight. "This snow is-!"
"Oh, my God..." Kirishima palms around his mouth. "Bakugou! Don't lose! Do your best!"
From beside him, Midoriya falls rigid, but not from the cold. He knows he should probably be feeling responsible for this, and he will probably feel guilty if Bakugou does end up losing. But it's not like it was a big secret, everyone knew. And it's not like the blond actually took care in hiding the limitations of his quirk. Still, Midoriya was not expecting his Bocchan to go all out like this. He's seen him make snow before, but this was just on a whole different level. The scale of the snow covered the entire stadium, and he was sure it went well throughout the school grounds. But how? Well, he was never really sure of the extent of his Bocchan's quirk, still this feels a little too over the top. The hurricane didn't feel enough to cause a snowstorm at all. So where did all this came from?
Midoriya went slack as the realization slowly dawned him, unconsciously mumbling to himself. "It was from the big iceberg from the fight with Sero... Bocchan didn't melt the ice into water, he vaporized it. He had it planned all along... He knew Bakugou could blow up his ice, but not every single piece of snow, not the cold weather, not the sky, and not when he had just blasted his all during the fight with Uraraka. Kacchan doesn't have a second quirk that can counter the weakness of the other. And we weren't allowed to wear our costumes so he doesn't have stock either. He could try forcing the sweat out, but pores in the skin close up when its cold..."
"Man, Midoriya... you're painting a really grim picture there." Kirishima breaks him out of his trance.
"But if Bakugou can't use his quirk then..." Kaminari looks towards them.
"This is practically a fight between someone who has two quirks and one who can't use any." Yaoyorozu finishes for him.
"Bakugou's practically quirkless." Mineta couldn't help muttering.
And that finally strikes a cord through Midoriya. Now he regrets it.
But seriously, his Bocchan is showing how great the gap really is. After all, the difference between being Number One and Number Two is not just one point.
"If it's cold enough, Kacchan won't sweat."
Todoroki wasn't paying much attention at the time, but that doesn't mean he didn't get it. It was simple enough to understand, it had always been a given. Now he had the advantage and he could probably win. But that doesn't mean Bakugou would make it easy for him. The resident Bomberman blasted his way towards him, attacking relentlessly albeit with weaker explosions. Todoroki knew Bakugou would not let up, but it took him great care to summon diamond dust, and even more to blast ice fog. He's not exactly having it easy as one might think. Still, he knew he could not use regular ice as much as he wants, and definitely not his fire lest he risks losing. So he went on the defense, nullifying Bakugou's explosions by blowing cold gusts while forming ice shields and attacking subtly by continuously lowering the temperature. He would not dare let the other get near enough, and he has to work quickly. It was really just a matter of how long Bakugou endured.
For some reason though, the blond's explosions were only getting stronger. As if he was using them to warm himself, and the relentless movement is making contributions. Todoroki definitely wouldn't put it past him, he was just as stubborn as a rock. It was also hard on Todoroki because the sun was working against him. Sure he managed to summon dark clouds, but there's a big bright summer sun right above that and he didn't know for how long he could manage to keep the snow falling. He knew it probably would have been impossible to make it snow in the first place if he didn't vaporize that iceberg. It was a good thing he came prepared, but now it seems a battle of endurance would not go to his favor. He needed to take down Bakugou before the blond could completely warm himself up. So Todoroki does the same, vaporizing the frost all over his body. And when Bakugou jumps for a bigger attack, Todoroki summons a mountain of ice from the entire arena and turns it into an avalanche, making sure Bakugou gets toppled over.
But when the fog clears, Bakugou is still holding on, glaring up at him as if looks could kill. The blond holds himself up and directs both of his fists on Todoroki, his limbs were shaking but he was obviously planning for a big explosion. That's when Todoroki decides to screw it and just blow up all the ice in fire. The air expanded and everything gets blown away. Bakugou notwithstanding.
It had been an exceptional performance if one should say, because if Midoriya wanted a show then Todoroki would deliver. He looked up at the audience as if seeking approval, and evergreen eyes met him squarely in a solemn gaze. The crowd around him suddenly cheered, albeit muted to his ears, belatedly making him realize that Midnight has just made her proclamation.
Todoroki won. [1]
They proceeded to the awarding ceremony immediately afterwards. But Midoriya decided not to join them on the field, remaining where he sat the entire time, watching from afar.
And with good reason too, as a bulky man in flames decides to join him shortly.
"I'll admit that wasn't what I was expecting," Endeavor started. "But I guess you did what you were supposed to..."
"Please don't say things like that, Uncle Enji." Midoriya doesn't spare the big man a glance, if he does he knows he'll only get scared. "You make it sound like we conspired for this to happen."
Endeavor huffs. "The important thing is that Shouto won, I couldn't care less about anything else."
Midoriya struggles to say anything anymore after that, and they keep the silence as they watch All Might present Torodoki with a gold medal.
"Bocchan confessed to me..." He says as if he's only realizing it now.
"So I heard." The man grits his teeth, and suddenly it's getting a little too hot.
The green-haired teen sweats, but he keeps his mouth shut this time.
Endeavor continues. "Reject him."
Midoriya gulps, but doesn't miss a beat. "I already did."
The flaming man spares him a glance then, and after a while, he speaks again. "I don't care what kind of quirk you managed to get your hands on, but with what little I've seen so far I wouldn't be against seeing a fight between the two of you someday. I'll let him decide when you're ready..." He begins to trail off before adding as an afterthought. "Just whatever you do, don't drag Shouto down with you."
"Of course." The child was quick to answer, meek, and apprehensive.
Endeavor heaves a deep breath. "But it's good that you got a quirk, we all know mere effort isn't and cannot be enough."
It was then when Midoriya finally looked at him albeit cautiously, but he still couldn't find words to say because there was no telling if that was a compliment or not, he just never knows where he stands with this man.
The much bigger man huffs, but he doesn't look back. "I admit, it was surprising to see you win the obstacle race without using a quirk, I don't know anyone else in Yuuei's history to have ever done so."
That was definitely a compliment, he guesses. It sounded positive enough. Midoriya could cry. "Uncle Enji... what if you didn't need to be Number One?"
It was out of the blue, but he's always thought about it. Endeavor was the only one who truly, and desperately chased after All Might. Despite the assurance of failure, and in spite of just the fact. It was an unhealthy obsession. Crazy, and out of touch. But still.
The flaming man fully regards him then, eyes burning though the expression is stone cold. He looks away.
"A hero's job is to save and protect, right? Why is that not good enough?" The green-haired teen pushes on, because even All Might yearned for victory.
"Some people just want to be the best at what they do." Endeavor's voice came low and tired, then he stands to leave and turns to his back to walk off. "Work harder."
Midoriya smiles sadly, sometimes words of encouragement work negatively and only increases pressure, especially when you already know you're doing your best. He manages to whisper back. "You too..."
He wasn't sure if the flaming man heard him or not, but if he did, he gave no indication. [2]
Bakugou watched in great irritation as Todoroki was presented a gold medal by All Might, the Number One Hero congratulated him, and all the half-ass bastard could do was mumble a thanks in gratitude. The nerve of that fucker, looking like he was about to cry in grief when he was the one who actually won. Where does he think he's looking at anyway?
Bakugou followed Todoroki's faraway gaze to see Midoriya crying on the bleachers, Endeavor was walking away from him.
What the fuck?
He had always been curious of what kind of life Deku had to live with the Todorokis, now even more so. The green-haired fucker seemed to be fine. He still acted like a wimp, just noisier now more than ever. Not that he cared, mind you.
The ceremony wrapped up, and they were free to go immediately. He followed after the half-ass bastard for some fucking reason and stopped to talk to him when they got into a secluded area.
"What the fuck was that about, half-ass?"
Todoroki stopped and turned to give him a black stare, well at least he wasn't too out of it to notice him. "What?"
This guy really makes his head throb. "Not 'what', you fucker. I saw Deku with your father, and he was crying. What kind of a relationship do they have anyway?"
Todoroki blinked. "The lack thereof."
Bakugou gritted his teeth, the bastard wasn't helping any. "Aren't you going to fight for him?"
"I always do."
The blond got a little miffed, but that was a good thing. He pushes on. "Even after he rejected you?"
"I told Midoriya I liked him, because I wanted him to know." The bi-haired teen lowers his gaze. "I'm not obliging him to return my feelings, I don't even need an answer."
Silence.
To say Bakugou was creeped out was an understatement, that sounded like something he wasn't supposed to know. Not like he thought ill of the half-ass fucktard, in fact he held him in some regard, being the person he has to defeat to prove he was the best. Still, he was not expecting the other would be the type that just blurted things out. It was good he wasn't just blinking at him though.
He scoffs, shoving both hands in his pockets. "I didn't think I could win against you the first time I saw your quirk... but I will next time for sure." He changed subjects, there was nothing more to say.
Todoroki just blinks at him again. "Sure."
Midoriya didn't come to sleep with Todoroki later that night, or the next night, or the night after that. In fact, they hadn't spoken at all with each other since the Sports Festival. They didn't even approach each other, all the while pretending to be normal. But who were they kidding, they were blatantly avoiding each other. And it was so awkwardly painful for the rest of everyone, they suffer.
It had only been three days, but you could clearly see the negative effects already. Both had dark bags under their bloodshot eyes, unkempt hair, and they yawn all the time, as if they never get any sleep. It would've been cute had they done it beside each other, but they just run away every time the other enters the same room. They used to be beside each other all the time, practically attached to each other's hip, you wouldn't think of one without the other. But now, they can't even meet each other in the eyes. Sitting in class equally unattentive and distracted, or moping.
"This is getting fucking ridiculous! Somebody punch the both of them or I will." Bakugou swears as he continued to glare at Todoroki, who was nibbling on some ice while staring at his phone.
"Just give them more time, they have to sort this out on their own." Kirishima was the ever kind soul.
"But it's so fucking annoying! If I have to listen to Deku's pathetic sobbing one more night, I swear I'll murder him!"
"Aww, come on, Kacchan. Don't be like that," The blond's glare turns to Kirishima at the nickname, but the redhead just laughs it off.
"Hey, I just noticed..." Kaminari suddenly speaks from Bakugou's other side. "Why is Todoroki eating his ice?"
"Oh, yeah... I saw him do that yesterday too." Kirishima nodded.
"Let's ask him then," Sero stood from behind Kaminari and walked half the room to get to the bi-haired kid's seat, anything to redirect Bakugou's attention. "Heya, Todoroki! Why are you eating your ice?" Straight to the point without any beats, or tact.
Todoroki blinks at him, but answers truthfully. "Because I'm hungry."
"Come to think of it, it is already lunch time." Sero looks at the clock.
"Then why don't you just buy food from the cafeteria?" Kaminari appears beside them. "If you want, you can even eat with us."
"No, he can't-"
Kirishima covered Bakugou's mouth and added. "Yeah! It'd be cool to have you around!"
They managed to snicker at their own stupid joke before Todoroki answered. "I can't go to the cafeteria because Izuku will be there, and I don't want to make him uncomfortable."
"Oh, my God! You poor creature! You've been starving this whole time!" Kaminari exasperates.
"Hold on! I'll go get you some food!" Kirishima proclaimed, and without another word, ran out through the door.
"We should probably buy lunch now too..." Kaminari glanced at Sero before following after Kirishima.
Sero looked back at Bakugou. "You coming?"
"No, just get me something spicy." Bakugou sits on Mineta's desk.
"Will do!" Sero gives him a thumbs up before leaving as well.
A momentary silence passes by the two before Todoroki breaks it. "I don't know how you have friends."
"Well excuse you, asshole, I'm a fucking delight!"
Todoroki just blinks at him, this time he doesn't even dignify Bakugou by humoring him with a 'sure'.
And after another moment of silence Bakugou almost explodes. "You know this is all your fault, right? He's acting like that because you spoiled him."
"You think so?" Todoroki asks but doesn't raise his head.
"I know so! He wasn't like that when we were kids." Bakugou leans back on his arms. "Before he was just a blubbering annoyance, now he's a cheeky blubbering annoyance!"
Todoroki chuckled, even just the thought of his charge lifted him up.
"You can cry, you know." The blond glances at him. "I'm gonna laugh at you, but you can cry."
"I won't... if I cry Izuku would feel guilty and sorry for me."
"So what are you going to do? Just continue staring at his pictures on your phone like a fucking stalker?"
Todoroki smiles sadly. "Maybe... I don't want him to catch me looking at him."
"Fucking creep."
"What do you think I should do, then?" The bi-haired teen sighs.
"Fucking talk to him obviously! Instead of causing troubles for the rest of us!"
Todoroki sighs again and relents. "My bad... I just don't think he's ready to talk to me yet."
"He's fucking fine, he even whines about you every night."
That was when the bi-haired teen finally looks at Bakugou, thinking that all this time Midoriya didn't come to sleep with him, he was with Bakugou.
"He comes to join me, Kirishima, Kaminari, and Sero to talk about you, fucker. Don't get any stupid ideas."
Todoroki breaks eye contact as soon as the message sinks in, and turns his head away in embarrassment. "My bad," he repeats.
The trio gets back then, as if summoned, and they let the conversation die. [3]
Later that night, Midoriya comes to Bakugou's room again with Kirishima, Kaminari and Sero. He plops down on the bed and grabs a pillow to try and suffocate himself since he's been nothing but dying since the Sports Festival, so he might as well. He's been so exhausted lately, having a hard time sleeping and nothing cheers him up, even with his mind plagued by his Bocchan, or maybe that's exactly the reason.
"So... how are you holding up, Midoriya?" Kaminari was the first to break the silence, taking a seat beside him.
Midoriya doesn't answer, he just grumbles and whines.
"Todoroki actually asked me to check if you were okay, because he doesn't want to approach you himself and make you uncomfortable," Kaminari confessed with a little tease. "And of course he asked me not to tell you, but I'm telling you anyway because I feel bad for the guy." He sticks out his tongue.
"Also, if you're wondering why he's on his phone a lot. It's because he doesn't want you to catch him staring, so he stares at some pictures of you instead." Sero winked at him.
"Oh, my God! Don't tell me these things!" Midoriya buried his face further into the pillow, ears all red and burning. "He's just like a brother to me, you know!"
Bakugou loudly clicks his tongue at him, but he blatantly ignores it. So the blond stomps over to him and grabs him by the head to make him look at him. "We're like brothers, you fucktard." Bakugou motions to himself and Midoriya with his other hand for emphasis. "You and that snowflake, on the other hand, don't act like brothers at all. Know the difference, you fucking nerd, you're supposed to be smart."
Midoriya opens his mouth to refute, but he couldn't think of anything to say, so he lamely pouts and the blond walks back to the low table.
"Are you still mad at him?" Kirishima asks, as Bakugou takes back the seat beside him.
"No, of course not... I just-!" Midoriya squeezes the pillow even tighter, "I can't get him out of my mind! There I said it! I always end up thinking about his confession! And it makes me hyper-aware of him!"
"Why don't you just go talk to him, seriously." Sero advised.
"I caaan't..." The green-haired boy whines like a dying animal. "I feel so awkward, and ashamed, and miserable!"
"But you still like him, right?" Kaminari pressed.
"I looove him!" Midoriya keens, with tears forming at the corners of his eyes.
"Then what the fuck is the problem?!" Bakugou snaps.
"It's not romantic..." Midoriya suddenly mumbles, looking away awkwardly.
"You're fucking blushing and gushing over him like a girl and it's not romantic?! Fuck you! That's it! Get out of my room!" Bakugou all but explodes, they were going around in circles and it was so fucking exasperating. Honestly, he doesn't know why they come to his room, of all people, to talk about shit. He opens the door and grabs them each by the collar before shoving them unceremoniously to the hallway. "And stay out!" The resident Bomberman slams the door to their faces.
Kirishima then calmly turns to face Midoriya, not reacting to Bakugou's outburst at all as if it was an everyday occurrence, which it really is honestly. "Would it really be so bad to go out with Todoroki, though?" He asks all of a sudden, or not so suddenly at all, going back to the conversation at hand as if they weren't just kicked out because of it.
"Of course not, he's the most amazing guy I've ever met! Bocchan is so handsome, and smart, and capable, and reliable, and nice to me, and buys me stuff, and spoils me a lot! It's just that, I'm scared. He's not someone I could afford to lose! He's more than a brother, or a best friend. He's my family. If I can't come home to him, I don't know where I'll go. I don't mind going out with him, but what if it doesn't work out? What if we break up someday? Then we wouldn't be able to go back to how we were before, and we might never talk again!"
"Midoriya," Kirishima holds him by the shoulder, effectively stopping his ramble. "You're not talking now."
It hits home then, and without thinking, Midoriya runs for his life or the love of his life for that matter.
AN:
Remember when I said I scrapped my drafts? Yeah? As it turns out, all of my foreshadowings became red herrings... I fail.
Anyway please review! And thanks!
Fic Facts:
1.) For the record, that fight between Todoroki and Bakugou was exaggerated. But I still think Todoroki is stronger, and someone needs to put that out there since I haven't read a story which exploits Bakugou's weakness yet. Also, I hope that makes up for the TodoDeku fight that isn't there. Sorry! xD
2.) I like playing with the idea that Endeavor acknowledges Midoriya to an extent. There was a little hint of that during the Sports Festival if anyone noticed... or was that just me? xP
3.) "Kacchan" = "Kaachan" (mother) ISTG somebody pry this pun from my cold dead hands.

And would you look at that? This story is one-year-old already! I'm sorry for always putting it off, I won't give you excuses. But next chapter we're having a lemon! Took me long enough! OTL

You said please send, so how about 37 with ShouDeku? OwO
        — pick a number and a pairing and i’ll write a minific!
37. “i won’t leave you”
“Can you promise that though? Right after All Might–” he stops speaking, staring into the distance. The word makes his face grow unreadable, distant. Shouto hates that face.
“Will you leave me?” he had asked, and Izuku only looked at him. “That’s why then. You were with me when I needed someone.”
The boy suddenly starts. “That’s not why.” He stares at Shouto, “Do you think I stayed because you were sad and lonely? I told you, I love–” he cuts himself off again with a sharp shake of his head, brows pinched.
Shouto doesn’t know what to do. He feels things crumbling away from under him and no amount of training prepares him for saving this sort of situation.
“I’m not in love with your sadness, Todoroki,” he says softly, sternly, before Shouto can even find the words. For the first time, the sound of his name is hard on Izuku’s tongue. He looks at him steadily, and then when Shouto doesn’t reply, he turns his head, staring out the window instead.
It’s the way he talks, Shouto decides.
He watches off from over the medic’s shoulder, steam rising from him as he regulates his temperature. Midoriya crouches by a girl, one of the survivors, too far away for Shouto to hear from here, but he can tell the man’s trying to cheer her up, just from the way he moves.
Maybe it’s his kindness, he tries again.
Then he winces, lifting his arm just in time to see another singed flap of cloth drift down from the already torn edges of his uniform. He sighs, toeing the scrap on the ground with his boot. He accidentally knocked one villain unconscious because he had gotten a little carried away during the fight too; he’s been so distracted lately.
He glances up towards Izuku again as the thought occurs. Maybe it’s the way he fights?
Shouto ponders that one just for a second, then throws it out, because it’s true Midoriya’s a very skilled fighter, but then he’d be just as attracted to Bakugou and that…wasn’t it.
“It’s really scary, right? But guess what happens next?” Midoriya is saying, as Shouto approaches.
A medic runs over as soon as she sees him, supplies held at the ready, but Shouto waves her away with a hand. He leans against the wall, crossing his arms over his chest, just outside of Izuku’s notice, but close enough to hear what he’s saying.
“And then, and then!! He’s so amazing! The moment All Might came, he would say, ‘Have no fear, for I am here!’ just like that! And then he’d do this pose–it’s not the same when I do it–but it’s sort of like this and it was so cool!”
And just like that, there’s a sudden tightness in Shouto’s throat, where old hurts haven’t wholly healed. Where they maybe never will, because the Symbol of Peace was just a man in the end. He can see it then on Izuku’s face too, the same loneliness, the same longing, the same buried sadness.
Maybe it’s that, he thinks to himself, but then he pushes that thought away forcefully, because he doesn’t want to be in love with Izuku’s grief.
“I’m not in love with your sadness, Todoroki.”
How many times have those words saved him? What sort of person would he be if that’s all he could give back?
But then it’s gone, and Midoriya crouches again, one hand on the girl’s head. “That’s partly why All Might was the number one hero, you know. When he came, you knew everything was going to be alright.”
“B-but if he’s g-g-gone–” her lips tremble.
“No!” Izuku looks startled, dropping back down next to her. “No no, don’t worry. See? We have more heroes. There’s a new number one now. Did you see the guy fighting? The one with the ice and the fire? The really amazing one, you know who I’m talking about?”
Over Midoriya’s shoulder, she spots Shouto as he approaches, eyes growing wide with recognition as their gazes meet. He holds up a finger, and she presses her lips together.
“That’s the new number one hero. He’s the Symbol of Peace you know; that’s a lot of responsibility. You can only be number one if you’re that good.”
“How good?” Shouto asks, and he fights a smile at the way Izuku jumps, face turning red to be caught in the act. He pretends not to notice, turning his attention instead to the girl as he bends, one hand on his knees. “It’s nice to meet you. My name’s Shouto.”
“Shou…to?” She echoes in confusion, and then, abruptly, her expression twists in fear. “Your real name?”
“What’s wrong?” Izuku asks, leaning forward.
She shakes her head, hands clasped over her ears. “No! Don’t tell me! ‘eroes are suppos’ta have ‘ero names. So no one hurts their luvved ones!” All of a sudden, tears have started spilling down her cheeks.
The two men exchange a glance. Then Izuku reaches out, gently pulling the girl’s hands from over her ears. “Don’t cry,” he hushes her, but she shakes her head stubbornly, eyes squeezed shut. “Shhh, it’s alright. He trusts you, that’s all.”
Shouto reaches out with his right hand, brushing away warm tears with cool fingers. Then he takes one of her small hands in his, comparing its softness to the calluses on his palm. “Sometimes they’re not a weakness. If someone comes for my loved ones, I’m going to protect them anyway. I’ll protect everyone. That’s why I’m the symbol of peace.”
She shakes her head again, pigtails flying. “But what about you?”
Izuku looks at him over her head, expression anxious, and Shouto tilts his head, regarding them both.
Then he says, “I have my own number one hero, so I’m not always alone. Do you want to know who?”
There’s a pause, and then she lifts her head, looking at him between knitted brows.
Beside him, he can feel Izuku shift closer, listening just as intently. Shouto pretends not to notice that too, crouching down so their heads are bowed together, like it’s really a little secret, just for them.
And then he leans over, bracing himself with five fingers pressed into the ground, and touches a kiss to Izuku’s cheek. He can smell smoke on Izuku’s skin, ash and dust. And below that, gone so fast it might just be his memory, he smells Izuku’s own scent, warm and familiar.
Maybe it’s that, he thinks, as he pulls back, but that too doesn’t feel like enough. It’s not enough for every new emotion he’s given because of Izuku, for every minute he finds himself waking up from a dream and finding another in his arms. It should be that, he thinks, but he can’t find a definition to suit it.
He looks to the girl, her eyes wide now. “He’s my loved one,” he says, “And I’m his.”
Her eyes grow even wider, reflecting the moon-saucers on Izuku’s face. Shouto makes sure he doesn’t notice that either (but he does take a note).
“We protect each other’s weaknesses. So that way we’re undefeatable.”
She begins to nod, slowly, “So you love Deku?”
“I do,” he says, without hesitation. “He’s my hero.”
She beams at him, before turning to Midoriya. “N’ you love ‘im? The nummer one ‘ero?”
Izuku flushes red, but then, slowly, he straightens up a little and his smile crawls onto his features for her, brave and modest and shy, and Shouto realizes, softly, that’s it.

I'M NEW TO THE HC REQUEST GAME but what is your opinion on tododeku meeting each other's parents for the first time/introduced as a SO (deku's already met endeavor, so). I need someone to bring up mr. midoriyama like I'm 72 chapters in and so far we only know their quirk is fire breathing
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO THE HC REQUEST GAMES ANON M’BOY !
Omg ok this concept always makes me laugh regardless of whatsituation because my family is personally so fucking weird I feel really badfor my cousins’ significant others coming to meet all of us and we’re all soTERRIBLE (but its also really funny re: The Easter Situation)
ANYWHO
Ok heres the thing. I know as much about Midoriya-papa asmuch as the next guy, which is NOTHING which sucks. SO IM GONNA MAKE SHIT UP.
I always pictured Midoriya-papa to be kinda likeMidoriya-mama – Pretty average, very sweet. He’s probably a little gangly, freckly from head to toe, kind of bad posture, curly hair for days. If Dekudidn’t become a Big Buff Cheeto Puff from his hero training, he would’ve grownup to look just like dad.
Unfortunately like Deku, he’s shy. Probably an office workerwho just can’t say no to overtime, thus him being kind of absent in Deku’schildhood. He loves his wife n son very much though !!
ANYWAYS
It starts with Shouto coming over pretty often. His homesucks of course Deku invites him over all the time, for studying or snacks orjust watching old hero videos.
Their relationship would be pretty quiet but Shouto wouldinsist on introducing himself properly – not until Deku’s ready for that though.
Shame they had to make out in his room and his mom forgetsto knock. Nobody was really ready for that, honestly.
Midoriya-mama is in shock – who wouldn’t be? – and Deku scramblesto explain things and Shout’s immediately up and bowing and offering a box ofsweets he brought just in case this sort of thing happened.
Midoriya-mama is frantic trying to take out the good teacups and the holiday tea because he’s a GUEST and IZUKU YOU SHOULD HAVE GIVEN ME MORE WARNING I HAVE TO BUY BETTER TEATHAN OUR USUAL JUNK
Deku keeps telling her not to worry, Shouto’s well-to-do,but he’s really not like that, it’s ok and— “Wait, you’re not… mad?”
Of course she’s not mad! She loves her boy and if her boy’shappy with who he loves, why wouldn’t that make her happy?
Maybe he ought to get a lock on his bedroom door though…
Midoriya-papa comes home late while they’re eating dinner –Midoriya-mama hesitantly asking Shouto questions, to which he replies smoothlyand honestly – and is mostly just thinking Oh, Izuku’s brought a friend home
But Shouto being who he is, stands up and bows and offersanother box of sweets (how prepared is this kid?) and introduces himself as ‘Midoriya-kun’sboyfriend’.
Deku looks like a strawberry he’s so red, it’s almost worsethan his mom catching them macking.
All in all, the Midoriya household is as welcoming as ever.Shouto’s awkward with it at first (what kind of family has dinner all together…)but sooner than he thinks, he’s found a comfortable home there.
On the flipside, uh, thinks get a little hairier.
Deku’s a lot less for introducing himself to Shouto’sfamily. Not because he’s ashamed or anything, but just because from what littlehe knows of Shouto’s situation (Depending on how far down the line this is, I’msure Shouto would tell him everything over time) he knows its rocky, and doesn’twant to make it worse.
Shouto, on the other hand, is eager to Piss Off Endadvor.
So yeah, Endeavor’s met Deku and stuff but maybe every timehe’s around Shouto tends to linger next to Deku a little more, maybe hold hishand a little more obviously, little little things.
So when Endeavor starts to get uncomfortably questioning,Shouto straight up kisses Deku. No questions asked.
Deku looks like he might faint. Endeavor too, actually.Shouto’s got the most satisfied look on his face.
Not much goes on with Endeavor after that. His mom is adelicate breach – they tell Fuyumi first, and she’s the one who helps introduceDeku to Todoroki-mama.
Todoroki-mama, is, of course, overjoyed that her littlestboy has found someone who loves him so much. ;__;
All in all, I think their families would be good! I mean,Endeavor is what he is (yo fuck that guy) so no matter what sort of protests hehas, Shouto would counter them all. He’s Just That Good. And we all know whendown to the wire Deku would defend Shouto with his life too. They’re just meantto be, really.
