Uriel's Star Ring
Tumblr media
Thank you @fuckyeahgoodomens for sharing the image
Getting the high-res image of Uriel and their ring today was an unexpected gift! It's not that I haven't done any work on them before now - I have, you just haven't seen it yet, because I needed a bit of a "key" to unlock it and the ring was always a major element of that. Because they are one of the archangels they do have a role and purpose, it just hasn't been made all that clear yet, and I don't think we've seen the best of them yet, either.
Uriel's name means "the light of God" and they are included as part of the main four archangels as they are considered needed to balance out the fourth compass point, the North. Their colour is yellow, and they carry a scroll signifying wisdom.
Up until now that was how I was considering Uriel, as playing a balancing role to hold Michael back. But now it looks like Uriel might have a bigger role in the future. I hope so.
Anyway, here's the ring:
Tumblr media
It's a star! - a Marian Star, which is one of the symbols of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Its a modified star of David, used to highlight Mary's role in as a helper in bringing humans towards salvation - that is, the restitution of the original harmony between God and humanity brought about by incarnation and redemption (Second Coming, any one?)
Stars are symbolic of faith, hope and inspiration (and yes, I am including some Tarot symbolism here.) They are a guiding light in the dark just before the dawn, they aid the navigators to cross the seas and one guided the Wise Men to Bethlehem. Without that starlight giving us a sense of purpose it can be hard to continue on in challenging times.
In the Tarot, there is a dark side the The Star: Ideals and expectations can be too high, abandonment, arrogance, haughtiness, theft, loss. The GO Uriel does tend to maintain a rather cold, distant and haughty demeanor.
The card for The Star in the classic Rider-Waite deck, Number 17, is perhaps an interesting one to include for discussion here.
Tumblr media
In the back right of the card is the Tree of Life, the companion to the Tree of Knowledge, from where the apple was taken. Eating from this tree is said to give you immortality, and this is what Aziraphale as Guardian of the Eastern Gate was really supposed to be protecting humans from getting back into the Garden to. The bird sitting on it is an ibis, a bird connected with immortality in Egypt. The nudity of the maiden represent truth unveiled, and she is young to represent a new start and renewal, because the card before this one is the Tower.
You've already seen the Tower card in S2 - it was in the Job minisode, when lightning struck Job's house to start the destruction. The Tower is card that signifies great change, often in a sudden and catastrophic way, and the breaking down of the structures that once supported and protected us, so we can move on. (Sound familiar?) So, I'm wondering, perhaps Uriel will have some surprise role in helping to reshape the order of things in S3?
There are twenty cards in the Major Arcana of the Tarot and they can be looked as a spiritual journey of sorts, starting with The Fool then working through to the World. Now I've seen Uriel's star ring, and knowing how many other Tarot connections there are, perhaps we need to look at that as well - I know there are other Tarot experts out there who are probably better readers than me!

sorry that this is now a blog about tarot cards i pull after meditating but before doing yoga like your aunt who's really into crystals (i'm not going to get into crystals) but. one of the reasons i started meditating was that i had an Experience last year that demonstrated for me somewhat forcefully that one of the benefits of taking a moment just to sit with yourself can be less about "clearing your mind" and more about just seeing what the fuck is hanging out in there all the time that you're not paying attention. today i kept having thoughts and vague outlines of potential emotions about my old teaching jobs floating up, which considering it's been almost two years since i saw the inside of the classroom was Interesting. so i pulled for let go / let in / context and, once again: lol. the empress is kind of both the girlboss and the mommy of the major arcana - she literally is the woman who can do it all - but, well, she can be the first-grade teacher, too, right? nurturance, childrearing, maternal(ly adjacent) care and guidance. yeah. and she's, like, organic and flowy, yeah, but settled, even stately, too: there's a certainty to her, a sense of deep intrinsic alignment with her place in the world.
and then the eight of cups, a card i've drawn before and had a hard time getting my head around but which today feels very clear: walking away from something lush and lovely, from your heart's desire which somehow left you not quite whole. the sun has set; even the moon is asleep. the empress receives the flow of water, the eight of cups walks away from it, stoop-shouldered, using a stick to climb uphill. going into - the mountains, kind of, but we don't know what exactly. walking away, not yet walking to. walking to something but you don't know what yet. the future is coming because it always does, but you don't know what that means yet. you just know the place you left was good but not right. not a harsh card, but a sad one, i think. which, this draw is great for me because i love getting "good" cards in "bad" placements and "bad" cards in "good" ones," and this one is both - the deck isn't saying, keep going, the road is dark but the empress lies on the other side. it's saying, you remember what it was to feel like that. you remember what it was like to think you were in your element, in tune with self & surroundings, operating as a figure of protection and cultivation and care. (as i was reading through meanings because i'm still a noob and mulling over the reading, all too well (10 minute version) came up on shuffle - wind in my hair i was there, etc.) it was good until it wasn't, but it's gone. in the end it wasn't your home. it's time to let it go.
the bottom of the deck told me this is definitely not about the star, which at first i was kind of miffed about, like, um but i could really use the star about this actually. the star is so sweet and gentle and felt so much like it would fit into the story here: the thing that comes after the tower has fallen and you're still around, the symbol of survival and healing and hope. i wondered if maybe i should be more flexible in reading the bottom card - people do it all kinds of different ways, and most of the ones i've seen are closer to a final word or overarching theme than beth maiden's Definitely Not About reading - but that felt like a copout, especially since as i said i do love a friction between meaning and placement. the thing i liked when i was getting into astrology was the way that it was totally fake but also completely fixed, and like any game it's only fun if you follow the rules; if there's something in your natal chart that doesn't feel true, the question becomes, well okay, in what was could this be said to be true about me, even if it doesn't feel like it? the banal but very real truth that both underlies and emerges from this very fake exercise is: everything can be said to be true about everyone, actually, depending on perspective and choice, which are not necessarily the most important things in life but are maybe the most important things in life that lie to any degree within your control. this is perhaps very obvious to you but it is not a way of thinking that comes naturally to me, so i find value in things that force me to confront it. the less witchy tarot practitioners talk a lot about using it to get in touch with your subconscious, but for me so far i appreciate just as much these moments where it pushes the kind of mental flexibility i'm good at in impersonal domains (such as questions like "what do these weird-ass pictures with 9 million different very long interpretations of them available online mean") and historically pretty bad at in examining my actual life.
so: i was somewhere beautiful, doing beautiful things, and then i had to leave. and it's very tempting once presented with the opportunity to finish that story by saying, and in the dark night i saw a star rising and felt within me the serenity of water flowing and i knew that i had survived and i was going to be okay. or the road is hard but i know at the end of it lies a tranquil clearing where i will find grace. but it's only fun if you follow the rules, so that's not the story being told; in fact i am being cautioned against telling that story. the star at the bottom of the deck is a warning against jumping to the aftermath, which is another way of saying jumping to conclusions; a warning against wanting to get to the part where it's easy. the star itself can be a warning about this too, right - it's possible to be too starry-eyed. a nudge against the realm of wishes and dreams; a reminder to stay on the dimly lit path. to let in the eight of cups, and not to rush it out the door. it's a sad card: let the sadness in. the steepness of the climb, the rocks beneath your feet.
which, like, yeah, but also: thank god for the page of pentacles hanging out beneath all this, tbh. the curious beginner in the suit of material things, such as for example someone who has switched careers and is extremely much still figuring things out: yes. but i like also the way it plays with the cards above: the brightness of it, the upturned hands, compared to the eight of cups' dark night and stooped shoulders. the way the visual motifs are not dissimilar to the empress - the sun-drenched yellow background, the earth full of growing things (compared to the eight of cups' featureless grass) - but pared down, smaller and simpler. little budding flowers at your feet, instead of stalks of grass; trees clustered humbly in the distance instead of a lush forest surrounding you. no crown or scepter, just a cloth hat and one single coin. the page of pentacles lacks the empress's abundance, but you can see all the way to the fields and mountains in he distance, and it's a hell of a view. it goes well with the star at the bottom, too, the two of them clarifying: this story isn't about dreams or hope or the redemptive expanse of the life you're building; it's just about building it. about learning to live in that place of newness, wanting more but content with the little bit you have so far. pentacles are the suit of earth: don't look to the sky for a sign from the heavens; just keep your hands busy and your feet on the ground.

Touhou Arcana write-up
Tumblr media
((So... my internet was out for a few days, and I have been playing Persona 4 Golden for a while, so I decided to do a write up for all the major arcana.
Everyone’s list is very different, SO THERE’S DEFINITELY GOING TO BE DISAGREEMENTS, but if you have any, let me know what you think!
Note: This is strictly going through Arcana descriptions and meanings!
---
0: Fool - Cirno, The Three Fairies The Fool represents innocence, divine inspiration, madness, freedom, spontaneity, inexperience, chaos and creativity.
Aside from the memes of Cirno being an idiot, I couldn’t think of a better tie than these two. (four?) All of them are leaders of their own right, they’re pretty much free to do what they please, and most importantly, creative and inexperienced.
I: Magician - Marisa Kirisame The Magician Arcana is commonly associated with action, initiative, self-confidence, immaturity, manipulation, and power.
THE STAPLE GIRL OF THE MAGICIAN ARCANA, MARISA HERSELF-... She’s the self confident one, immature to a fault, and her whole stick is ‘DANMAKU IS POWER’. So yep, this fits her extremely well!
II: Priestess - Rinnosuke Morichika The Priestess Arcana is a symbol of hidden knowledge or other untapped power, wisdom, mystery and patience when it appears in tarot readings.
Can’t get better than Rinnosuke himself, IMO. Father figure of both Reimu and Marisa, people approach him for wisdom at times and he’s also shrouded in mystery, and not to mention a really patient person.
III: Empress - Hong Meiling, Shinki The Empress represents mothers, prosperity, creativity, sexuality, abundance, fertility, protection, and comfort.
I really don’t have to explaint his one! Meiling is the bind which ties everyone together, as well as Shinki does, not to mention the bit about protection and comfort. There’s no better arcana for a motherly figure.
IV: Emperor - Remilia Scarlet, Toyosatomimi no Miko The Emperor symbolizes the desire to control one's surroundings, and its appearance could suggest that one is trying too hard to achieve this, possibly causing trouble for others; some elements in life are just not controllable.
‘BUT REMILIA IS BEST FIT FOR DEVIL’ you say! Devil’s more of temptation, and Remilia’s more controlling than being the symbol of temptation, and not to mention that she isn’t entirely selfish, actually caring for the residents of the Scarlet Devil Mansion.
Either way, both Miko and Remilia do sometimes cause trouble around them (Remilia especially), and not to mention really ambitous.
V: Hierophant - Keine Kamishirasawa, Byakuren Hijiri The Hierophant is a symbol of education, authority, conservatism, obedience to rules and relationship with the divine.
Keine and Byakuren being both teachers in their own right, and also quite lawful as well. Byakuren also gets the extra point of being in a relationship with the divine, being head monk and all.
VI: Lovers - Alice Margatroid, Sakuya Izayoi The Lovers Arcana initially represented two paths life could lead to, and thus a symbol of standing at a crossroad and needing to make a decision.
Between Alice being in Hell with Shinki and choosing her life to be in the forest, as well as Sakuya either being a vampire killer and serving one, I think this fits pretty well!
VII: Chariot - Chen, Yuugi Hoshiguma The Chariot Arcana is a symbol of victory, conquest, self-assertion, self-confidence, control, war, and command.
Ah yes, the arcana usually tied with war gods. Both are self-confident, and these usually have a goal they wish to attain at any cost. In this case, I’d put Chen and Yuugi!
VIII: Justice - Shiki Eiki The Justice Arcana symbolizes a strict allegory of justice, objectivity, rationality and analysis. In tarot readings, it means that one will have to face a trial of their justice.
OKAY I’M SURE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DISAGREE WITH ME ON THIS BECAUSE SHE’S NOT JUDGEMENT-... But Justice is very different from Judgement, which I’ll explain below. But I feel Justice fits Eiki more, as she is the pinacle of rationality and objectivity.
IX: Hermit - Satori Komeiji, Patchouli Knowledge The Hermit is associated with wisdom, introspection, solitude, retreat and philosophical searches.
With Satori being the philosophical mind reader she is, along with Patchouli being the moving library, this is pretty much a big given.
X: Fortune - Tewi, Joon Yorigami The Fortune Arcana is portrayed by the Wheel of Fortune and symbolizes fate, luck, fortune and opportunity.
Can’t get any better than these two, for self-explained reasons!
XI: Strength - Momiji Inubashiri The Strength Arcana is associated with the morality about the stronger power of self-control, gentleness, courage and virtue over brute force. It can also represent creative or physical energy that needs to be or is about to be unleashed, sometimes out of desire to be recognized.
This is not physical strength, but inner strength, and IMO, Momiji is the most self-controlled yet also desires to be recognized by the higher ups for PUTTING UP WITH TENGUS-
XII: Hanged Man - Hina Kagiyama, Medicine Melancholy The Hanged Man Arcana is associated with self-sacrifice for the sake of enlightenment, the bindings that makes one free, paradoxes and hanging between heaven and earth.
Can’t think of anyone else but these two in this category. People in this Arcana are really self-sacrificial, and both of them fit the bill .
XIII: Death - Yuyuko Saigyouji The Death Arcana symbolizes metamorphosis and deep change, regeneration and cycles.
Do I need to explain this :D
XIV: Temperance - Reimu Hakurei, Konpaku Youmu The Temperance Arcana is a symbol of synthesis, prudence, harmony, and the merging of opposites.
No better person than Reimu herself. She’s the Hakurei Shrine maiden, mediator of both humans and youkai, going out to restore order after every incident and to keep the balance in check. Depressing job 10/10.
XV: Devil - Seiga Kaku, Kanako Yasaka The Devil Arcana represents the urge to do selfish, impulsive, violent things, and being a slave to ones' own impulse and feelings. Occasionally, it is also portrayed as a symbol of temptation.
I don’t think I need to explain Seiga, but Kanako literally tempted Okuu with the power of the Yatagarasu so SHE FITS HERE VERY WELL. MORIYA SHRINE CONSPIRACY.
XVI: Tower - Junko, Tenshi Hinanawi The Tower Arcana is commonly associated to overly arrogant, prejudiced and authoritarian organizations, which walk to their own ironic demise. Furthermore, it is also more generically used as an omen of doom and disaster.
The worst card in the deck. This card barely means anything good at all. Both are somewhat prejudiced, and Tenshi fits this arcana like A SHOE.
XVII: Star - Sanae Kochiya The Star Arcana is also commonly associated with hope, self-confidence, faith, altruism, luck, generosity, peace and joy.
Miracles. Faith. Joy. I don’t think I need to explain much about this one!
XVIII: Moon - Reisen Udongein Inaba, Flandre Scarlet, Koishi Komeiji The Moon Arcana is associated with creativity, inspiration, dreams, madness, illusions, fear, fantasy, the subconscious and trickery.
Three of them are quite creative people, with Flandre leaning quite alot into the ‘madness’ part of it. They can also sense things around them without being told, and these three are usually quite in touch with their senses.
XIX: Sun - Utsuho Reiuji, Aya Shameimaru The Sun symbolizes happiness, joy, energy, optimism, and accomplishment. Occasionally, it is also associated with one's initial happiness.
Both of them are just the biggest optimistic and energetic ball of fun you’ll ever meet, and Okuu does her job quite well! Aya... not so much, since her newspaper isn’t very popular-
XX: Judgement - Kasen Ibaraki, Hata no Kokoro The Judgement Arcana is associated with realizing one's calling, gaining a deep understanding of life and a feeling of acceptance and absolution.
You’d expect Eiki here, but Judgement is the reflection of one-self, and accepting who you are. They view the world with infinite possibilities, and I believe Kasen and Kokoro fits this out to the letter.
XXI: The World - Yakumo Yukari, Okina Matara The World Arcana is a representation of the world's totality, the symbol of fulfillment, wholeness and harmony.
Don’t need to explain this, really! Gensokyo is primarily their creation, after all!
---
Anyways, if you made it this far, thank you very much!))

Grimmtober Day 24: The Gold-Children
“Listen,” said the fish, “I see very well that I am fated to fall into your hands, take me home and cut me into six pieces; give your wife two of them to eat, two to your horse and bury two of them in the ground, then they will bring you a blessing.” The fisherman took the fish home with him, and did as it had bidden him. It came to pass, however, that from the two pieces that were buried in the ground two golden lilies sprang up, that the horse had two golden foals, and the fisherman’s wife bore two children who were made entirely of gold.
--
This story is an ATU type 555, and it goes as follows:
A fisherman once caught a magnificent golden fish. The fish asked to be let go, and promised the man great riches, so long as he told no one how he came by it. The man agreed and when he returned home, he found his house became a castle his larder full. He and his wife were happy for a while, but the wife, curious as to how they came across this luck, badgered the story out of him and the magnificent home became a poor man's hut once more.
The man went out to the ocean and caught the fish again, and the fish made him the same offer. The man agreed and lived lavishly once more, but again his wife badgered the tale out of him and they lost it all. The fisherman went out a third time, and the fish knew he was fated to be caught by this man. So he instructed the fisherman to cut him into six pieces and feed 2 to his wife, 2 to his horse, and bury the last 2 in the ground in front of his house.
The man did as instructed, and presently his wife gave birth to twin sons of gold, the horse to twin foals of gold, and two golden lilies grew from the pieces buried in the ground. Years passed, and boys, horses, and flowers all grew up strong and healthy.
The young men decided then to seek their fortunes in the wide world. They each mounted a golden horse and told their father that the lilies would inform him of their health - they would wither if the boys were ill and die if they died. And so they set out into the world. But they made such an unusual sight that they were mocked mercilessly by all who saw them.
One son was so ashamed that he turned around and went home to his father, but the other rode on until he came upon a forest full of robbers. The boy was still undeterred and covered himself and the horse with bearskins to hide their golden skins. With this disguise, he was able to pass through the forest unmolested.
He reached a town, still covered in skins, and met a beautiful maiden. The two were immediately taken with each other, and the man soon proposed. They were married and the maiden took her to her father's home, where the man mistook his son-in-law for a beggar. He was furious, but the daughter was able to calm him, and when he saw the young man in the morning with his resplendent golden skin, he was relieved.
That night the golden man dreamed of hunting a great stag. When he awoke, he was determined to go find it. His wife begged him not to go for she feared a great misfortune would befall him, but his mind was made up. As he tracked the stag, he came upon the home of a which. He asked her if she knew anything of the stag, and she did. However, as they conversed, her dog would not stop barking at the man, and he threatened to shoot it. Enraged, the which turned him to stone.
The home-bound son saw his brother's lily wither and knew he was in danger. He resolved to rescue him, though his father was reluctant to let him go. He tracked his brother to the witch's house, and she called out to him, hoping to entrap him as well. But the second young man kept his distance and told her to bring his brother back to life else he would shoot her.
The witch reluctantly reversed the spell, and the two brothers reunited happily. They then rode home - one to his bride the other to his father, who knew all had gone well when the lily sprang back to life. They all lived happily ever after.
The common analysis of stories like this is that is a depiction of the miraculous instance of twins. In ancient times, twins could represent great luck or great misfortune, depending on the culture. In most myths and stories, twins represent a duality or opposites of some kind (Apollo and Artemis representing the sun and the moon respectively for example). In some tarot decks, the Lovers card is replaced with the Twins card - both are tied to the Gemini star sign and can represent a decision to be made.
The twins in the story also represent duality and diverging path. One brother is thickskinned, adventurous, and reckless, while the other is sensitive, a homebody, and cautious. And they take wildly different paths in life, one to fulfill filial duty, and the other to fulfill matrimonial duty. Both of these (caring for the aged family, and furthering the family line) were important roles for the sons at the time.
It highlights another duality as well: one brother tends to the past, the other looks to the future. And once this decision is made, there's no turning back, though the brothers reunite and are happy to see each other, they still part ways at the end. However, one choice is never posited as better than the other - both husband and son have equal weight within the confines of the story.
On a completely unrelated note: brother one absolutely deserved it, hell he got off lightly. He's lucky the witch didn't go full John Wick on him!

yo anyone in this thread
read tarot? i would like some second opinions on a spread i just did to make sure im not jumping the gun with my interpretations. im not gonna tell you my interpretation because i want any help i might receive to be unbiased by how ive read it.
the decks i used were the silver era tarot, and the goddess guidance oracle cards.
the question was basically “who is this person supposed to be for me? why are they in my life” about a specific person.
the silver era deck:
- death - 10 of cups - strength (reversed) - the star (reversed) - 6 of pentacles - 9 of pentacles
the bottom of the deck was judgement, reversed
goddess guidance oracle cards:
- kali (“endings and beginnings”) - butterfly maiden (“transformation”) - guinevere (“true love”) - aphrodite (“inner-goddess”) - sekhmet (“be strong”) - lakuhimi (“bright future”)
if you would like pictures of the cards, feel free to ask for them. i took pictures of the spread before i put everything away. if you have any questions abt it let me know

Moon / Luna Masterpost
! DISCLAIMER: The following informationc are may wrong. If you see any misinformations, let me know, but not in the harsh way please! The links where the infromations (mainly) are from, are at the bottom. There are everything assosiated with the sun, use, what is helpful !
Note: i’m starting to post things like this. Mainly about astronomy, green witchery, kitchen witchcraft, zodiacs and more. If you are intrested or it was helpful please let me know!
The moon has been captivating people since the beginning of time. It’s guided our way on the darkest of nights and pulls at the tides as well as our emotions. There are myths and stories about the moon from every ancient culture, and it is still a central part of many pagan religions and spiritual paths. Here we break down the basics of lunar magick into easy-to-digest chunks including the moon’s phases, magical properties, correspondences, and more. Lunar energy is great for divination and dream work and to counteract Mars and Sun influences. Stones that correspond to the energy of the moon tend to be white and/or luminescent. Luna reflects the light of the Sun and is the closest sphere to Earth: the abode of physical form. It does not generate its own light as the Sun does, but serves as a filter for it, refracting and reflecting it in a coarser, more obfuscated manner.
The Female Body & The Moon
Just as the moon is reborn, grows, reaches its fullest potential, then wanes again, so do our bodies. For thousands of years, women have noticed their moon cycles (menstruation – the syllable men meaning moon/month) syncing up with the moon’s phases. This is lunar magick at its core. Just as the moon waxes and wanes, so too does the womb. This is why the moon is often associated with the Goddess in forms of neopaganism and Wicca.
The Triple Goddess & Our Lives
Wiccans associate the Triple Goddess with the moon’s phases: the maiden (waxing moon), the mother (full moon), and the crone (waning moon). We all go through these phases in our lives (both men and women) corresponding to our youth, adult child-rearing years, and our elder years. So we are all attuned to the moon phases and lunar magick, it’s just that most people don’t realize it.
The Moon in Mythology: Most Lunar deities in Western Tradition are female, though male lunar deities are found throughout the world as well. Lunar deities are often associated with Motherhood or the Sea.
The Moon in Astrology: As the moon moves across the sky, it passes through the various zodiac signs, primarily affecting our moods and reactions. Those who have a sun sign align to the water element will feel this effect most strongly. The moon travels through each sign every month, staying in each sign for up to three days before moving on. At the New Moon, she will be in the same sign as the Sun and at the Full Moon, she will be in the opposite sign.

Waxing and waning. Liminal states. Potentiality of manifestation. Healing. Psychicism. Dreaming and sleep. Lunar Herbs: Lunar herbs tend to be juicy and lightly sweet and with a sweet (sometimes cloying) fragrance. Either they produce watery fruits, or they have succulent leaves or both. Many moon herbs relieve mild pain and/or gently induce sleep. Many moon plants open at night and close during the day or release their scent at night to attract nocturnal pollinators. Moon plants often grow near water. White or silvery plants tend to correspond to lunar energy and sometimes these plants bear the mark of the moon even more strongly. Sedative, hormone-balancing, tonic to the brain or stomach, narcotic or painkilling plants. Cooling and moisturizing plants. Plants with moon-shaped parts. Plants with high water content. Moon altar:
Moon altars are sacred, magical spaces that you create to honor and harness the different energies of the lunar cycle. Like all altars, a moon altar is a place where you can focus and direct energy through your witchcraft. You can perform spells or meditations at your moon altar or simply send your gratitude up to the moon for shining down on you night after night. I want to start by saying there’s no wrong way to make a moon altar. You can set it up inside or outside, elaborate or simple, and everything in between. Though there are certain magical tools that you can include on your altar to add power and focus, there’s no specific set of directions to set up a moon altar. That means you can get as creative as you like when setting up your moon altar. As long as your altar feels sacred, special, and powerful, you’re good to go!
Traveling Moon Altars: You can take your witchcraft with you wherever you go! A popular way to do this is to use a small drawstring bag, an altar cloth tied up to make a pouch, or an empty mint tin to store the magical tools for your moon altar. Put travel-friendly magical tools in your altar containers such as small crystals, tarot cards, birthday candles, colored ribbon (for knot spells or color magic), or any other objects that you feel belong in your moon altar. These altars are great if you love to go hiking and want to set up an altar outside under the moon.  Stationary Moon Altars: This is what people typically think of when it comes to altars. These are the altars that are set up on a dedicated space in your home or outdoor area. Some witches will keep these altars up all the time; other witches will keep their tools in a box or drawer when not in use. These altars are great because you can deck them out with all kinds of trinkets and tools and not have to worry about losing or damaging these items during travel. Mental Altars: This is a more unconventional altar option that might appeal to you if you love visualizing. You can actually make a moon altar using only your mind. In your mind’s eye, visualize a sacred space in any location in the world and include any magical tools you’d like to use on your moon altar. Visualizing an altar is a great meditation on its own or combined with other moon rituals like taking a moon bath (in lunar light) or performing divination magic under the moon. If you don’t have the time or energy to set up an altar, you can sit outside under the moon or by a window and simply visualize your moon altar.
representing the moon on the altar: chrystals (Some witches believe that moonstone is best used during the waxing moon phase because all the other phases of the moon deplete or dilute its energy.), with plants, herbs, flower Candles to Represent the Moon: Any kind of candle can represent the moon because candles are tools that provide light. White tea lights are ideal for moon altars because they’re inexpensive, and they’re round like the moon. They also make black tea lights which are nice to use during the new moon. Use your moon candle for spells or divination methods like scrying and candle gazing. You can burn intentions with your moon candle if you like. You can also try lighting your candle for the waxing moon and full moon phases and keeping your candle unlit for the waning moon and new moon phases. Unusual Tools to Represent the Moon: egg, marshmallow, sugar or salt, ribbon, a mirror
Water of moon
associations: the chariot VII, Het, Homakhu, Apollo hte Charioteer zodiac: cancer stones: emerald, cat’s eye, pearl, moonstone, amber plants: lotus, moonwort, papaver somniferum, passionflower, water lily, white poppy, white rose colors: pale blue, viler, pearl, white, amber, dark greenish, brown, rich bright russet, maroon animals: crab, turtle, sphinx body parts: stomach beings: vampire scents: onycha, rose, lotus drugs: watercress magick: Power of casting enchantments; weapon is the furnace; figures are Populus and Via

The Wise Woman's Tarot arrived yesterday and I just finished the book. It is being sold on etsy. There are a limited number of sets left.
The cards are large: 6 1/2" x 3" and the cardstock is bullshit thin, bendy, and glossy. The minors have color coded borders: cups are blue, wands are red, pentacles are brown, swords are black, court cards are Maiden, Seeker, Shaman, and Priestess.
Most of the majors have not only been renamed but also reordered. There's no Emperor card (The Star is in his place.) There are two Empress cards (one representing sexuality and the other nurturing). The Devil and the Hierophant have been combined in the Oracle. There are way too many changes to list. Flash Silvermoon explains these changes as representing the shift from wholeness to separation, matriarchy to patriarchy, and something to do with Crowley, I'll address this in a moment. The minors, however, are true to RWS tradition.
The book is comprehensive and discusses card meanings, spreads, how to do readings (including a section on how to read for your pets) and tables that have information like the animal guides for each of the majors, astrological correspondences, there's even an appendix for the border designs for the majors and how they relate to the card (look closely and you'll see them). I really like that the manual is spiral bound so you can lay the pages flat.
I'm finding it difficult to describe the art. The style is closest to the Daughters of the Moon. There are some cards I really don't like (Oshun as the sensual Empress) and some cards I really like (The Valkyries in the 7 of Swords). There is a lot of racial diversity, the majority of the goddesses are young-ish but there are some elders, and I would say a good mix of different body types (including warriors who have actual muscles) but I still wish there were more fat women.
Okay, so now it's time to discuss the, shall we say, narrative of this deck. I could try to be nice but honestly I can't think of another way to say this other than it's absolutely bonkers. The tarot, says Silvermoon, is an ancient teaching tool that matriarchal societies used to preserve their teachings when patriarchal societies invaded. These matriarchal societies included Lemuria and Atlantis, who built Stonehenge and the pyramids by using sound to telekinetically move stones into place. Also Atlantis had magical crystal generators made of quartz I am not making this up it's in the book.
So basically the major arcana is this herstory from when everyone was whole (and also we were all hermaphrodites intersex) until The Patriarchy happened and Amazon warrior cultures were needed to protect the matriarchies. The Patriarchy remade tarot to be patriarchal but naturally its True Matriarchal Origins are hidden in the symbolism.
One thing I do like about this deck is that while many of the cards depict goddesses or legendary figures, some just have regular women. The Two of Cups has Israeli and Palestinian women with the cups and caduceus, in harmony instead of in conflict. The Four of Wands has two Ashanti women in front of their house. That said, there's also some outdated/offensive language like the E slur instead of Inuk/Inuit. There are also a lot of goddesses and such from living traditions (Silvermoon does not stop talking about Oshun) which I would say one of the problems of creating a multicultural deck, but especially a goddess-based deck. Speaking of Oshun, her depiction in this deck is one I really don't like. She's sort of splayed out/contorted with a river coming out of her vulva, and people are bathing in it. It just looks so weird. Also have I mentioned there are a lot of naked boobs in this deck? Another thing I'd like to note is that one of the spreads in the book is a "health spread" which assigns different body parts to astrological houses that you can use to diagnose health problems. I don't recommend doing this for a bunch of reasons. The other spreads in the book are pretty typical. I want to read for my pets now.
I would like to talk about the Lovers for a second. The Lovers depicts three people (again Silvermoon uses the h word) that are flowing into each other. At the bottom of the card there is a heart with the silhouette of two women having sex. She talks about people experimenting with gender, destroying the patriarchal nuclear family, and the only time the word "transgender" appears in the text, in a positive sense. There's no "woman-born-woman" nonsense, no hyperfixation on "blood mysteries" (menstruation is mentioned a few times throughout the deck), there is still some cissexism where woman = uterus and vulva but there isn't a huge focus on motherhood that I've seen in other decks (note: Silvermoon was a lesbian who had a ton of furry children).
In sum this deck is....something. If you're looking for a feminist deck with more updated terminology, I'd recommend Thea's Tarot (with its great companion guide by a nonbinary author). I'm not sure I can wholeheartedly recommend this deck but it's an interesting piece of feminist tarot herstory.

The Patchouli - Scarlet Tarot Deck
So I’ve always viewed Patchouli as something of a Kabbalist, and the Tarot deck has strong Kabbalistic connections.  Unlike lesser practitioners Patchouli works to keep her deck updated and personalized.  Thus she’s developed her own “Touhou” deck.  Here’s how I view her cards currently.
The Fool - Marisa
::: As the resident hedge mage, Marisa's careless and reckless approach to life and magic send Patchouli into fits.  But she can't ignore the fact that Marisa's both a powerful witch and a mover and shaker despite that.  Thus in her mind Marisa is synonymous with the Fool.  Even if that's solidly unfair to her.
The Magician - Ellen
::: Ellen is a more traditional magician.  Add in the woman's habit of forgetting entire schools of magic, and she fits the transient genius of the Magician arcana well.  This is her best way of respecting her friend.
The High Priestess - Alice
::: Alice has always seemed like a strong example of femininity in Patchouli's mind, and as she learned more of the woman's domineering nature as they interacted over the years her image slowly transformed to the powerful leader of the High Priestess.
The Empress - Reimu
::: While Marisa says Reimu isn't a master of soft power, Patchouli disagrees.  She sees Reimu's lazy violence to be a perfect fit for the Empress in Gensoukyo.  She also can't help but view the shrine maiden as more powerful than Marisa does, due to usually meeting the woman when there's a fight.
The Emperor - Miko
::: Miko is the embodiment of raw secular power here in Gensoukyo even if she is one of the religious leaders.  Patchouli views Taoism as a 'material' religion, and it helps that Miko is in fact a prince.  Who better to represent leadership? (or tyranny)
The Hierophant - Byakuren w/ Ichirin and Kyouko
::: Byakuren got put on this card as soon as Patchouli learned about the woman.  As a heretic magician who returned to Buddhism and worked to spread her brand of the faith far and wide Byakuren was perfect for both the religious and meta iconography of the Heirophant
The Lovers - Sanae & Momiji w/ Kanako
::: Due to her arranged marriage when she was younger, Patchouli always uses the 3 person lovers card.  While she's distant from (and only remotely interested in) the romance between the Tengu and the mountain shrine maiden, she feels it's a good fit for the card.
The Chariot - Tenshi
::: Few people represent failure through success (and success through failure) in Patchouli's mind as Tenshi does.  The daughter of the celestials is a walking disaster, yet she triumphs.  Usually.
Strength - Medicine
::: While Medicine isn't the lamb lying down with the Lion, she represents Strength based on what she is rather then raw power.  Patchouli respects the little doll's ability, if not her intellect.
The Hermit - Patchouli
::: She knows what she is.
Wheel of Fortune - Shion and Jo'on, Tewi and Hina
::: The two luck manipulators and the sisters of ill fortune make a solid set for the card of changing fates.  It's a little bad luck heavy, but Patchouli doesn't think much of luck.  Luck is what stabs you in the back when your plan has a failure.
Justice - Eiki
::: The big surprise is Patchouli accepting the idea that Shiki Eiki is just.  She usually has a disdain for authority.  However she recognizes someone who tries to see all sides and judge accordingly.
The Hanged Man - Akyuu
::: One who sacrifices all for knowledge.  Perhaps even too much.  Patchouli considers Akyuu's price too heavy to pay, but respects the need for understanding that led to it.
Death - Yuyuko w/ Rin and Youmu
::: Yuyuko is shown in reverse on this card.  Patchouli views the ghost princess as stagnation.  Youmu and Rin are upright, more useful signs of death as change, but lacking the strong presence to earn the card for themselves.
Temperance - Kokoro
::: The Menreiki is perhaps the perfect demonstration of balance and imbalance in both positive and negative forms.  Patchouli has been trying to get the girl in to be properly studied, but she's either refused or been spirited away by one of the Scarlet sisters.
The Devil - Remilia, w/ Sakuya and Meiling
::: While Patchouli says she keeps Remi as the devil as a favor to her friend, Remilia is a good example of hedonism and pleasure helping humans move forward.  Sakuya and Meiling are of course Remi's favorite victims, and members of the messy ‘love triangle’.
The Tower - Shining Needle Castle
:::A great example of hubris leading to disaster, Patchouli happily added it to her deck when it was revealed to Gensoukyo.  It also is one of the few buildings that even qualifies as a tower.
The Star - Raikou w/ Benben and Yastuhashi
:::The Star signals hope in the darkness, and Patchouli is one of the few people to understand how difficult Raiko's mission to keep the youkai awakened by the miracle mallet alive was.  This card is her respect for the act.
The Moon - Junko
:::This used to be Mokou, but the immortal's madness is nothing compared to Junko's dementia.  Patchouli happily made the switch when the Lunarian invasion was revealed and defeated.
The Sun - The three fairies
:::The blessings of children is one of the defining figures of the sun, but Patchouli doesn't have many children in her life.  No matter how childish Marisa can act.  So she instead turned to fairies.  The fairies of light are a good subject, because Cirno doesn't match well with the elemental themes of the sun.
Judgement - Flandre w/ the SDM
:::After long study Patchouli came to realize Remilia's deepest secret.  The knowledge that Flandre was fated to destroy the mansion and its inhabitants as surely as Loki was to start Ragnarok.  While they both fight that fate, she knows the future Judgement that awaits if they fail.
The World - Yukari and Okina w/ Dragon
:::Now that she resides outside earth, she has chosen a representation of Gensoukyo as the world.  Yukari and Okina represent the known sages, while the great dragon watches over all.  It's mostly a formality though.  As a legitimate diviner, Patchouli rarely draws the world.
