I don't think Buddy asks Helio any questions.
Kristen asked 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' because she believed in all the good things she was taught, but noticed the strange disconnect between the world as it was and the world as it was taught to her. So she thought, surely, if I can't come up with the answer, Helio will have it. And she hates him for dodging her question.
Buddy is far more deluded than Kristen ever was. And he is far, far angrier inside as a result, even if he deliberately conceals this fact from himself to protect himself from the inevitable mental breakdown this would cause. Buddy is not as altruistic and giving and caring as Kristen is. He wouldn't question why he was betrayed or dig into a question like 'Why do bad things happen to good people?' Those aren't the answers he needs, because of course he'd be betrayed by someone outside the church, that makes perfect sense. Of course bad things happen to good people, we simply live in a fallen world.
Or, well. He used to live in a fallen world. Now he's dead here. In Helio's divine domain.
I think Buddy, as he wanders through fields of corn to the big farmhouse where Helio is chilling out, privately thinks about the fact that Kristen Applebees' horrified expression was the last thing he ever saw before a sharp pain in his throat. I think Buddy assumes Helio knows he's thinking this and apologizes for bringing thoughts like that into paradise. I think he thanks Helio for recognizing his devotion and bringing him here once he died and dutifully deceives himself about his own rising emotions at contending with the fact that he's dead now.
After all, he was raised to die. He was raised to want to die.
To want to be here with his god whenever it was he called Buddy to him. So he doesn't feel upset, no, of course not. He's just a little surprised at how sudden it was. (How completely random. How unceremonious and unfair.) He's a little bit worried how his grandparents would react to the news is all. (He cracks a joke that maybe he'll see them here shortly after they do get the news. He doesn't laugh at it.) He had his own plans for how he'd spread the good word in life, but of course, Helio had other plans. (Nothing Buddy ever wanted really mattered. He knew that, he knew the will of Helio was the real thing that mattered, and everything else was just a small list of preapproved extracurriculars in the syllabus of his life.)
He can't be upset about this.
He shouldn't be upset about this.
This is his reward.
This place and these people and this god are his reward for a life of service and devotion and walking in the light.
It's not his place to be upset about his own reward. Kristen got upset when she went to heaven, when she met Helio, and look where that got her.
Look... look where that got her.
He thinks he hates her. For looking at him like that. All the ways she looked at him. Like he was something pitiful and contemptible. Someone she needed to threaten away from her little brother. Someone she has to double and triple check if he's going to revive her when he's under magical oath to do just that or lose his connection to a divinity she threw away after being chosen.
And then. In that last moment, she looked at him and he saw grief and horror and caring. Like his death was awful and unfair and tragic.
And he thinks maybe he hates her for that. For challenging him every conversation they had and looking at him like she knew something he didn't. Like she was above him. Like killing your own god twice in life is a preferable fate to living for the promise of eternal sunlight and cornbread in death. A promise which was kept to him.
Kristen was promised to Helio, too.
And he can't unsee her face. He can't move along and focus on what truly matters (Helio, the church, spreading the word, doling out divine punishment when needed) because he's reached the end. There is nothing left. Only this bright sunny cornfield and a god who... is nice. And who cares about him, personally. He got Buddy's name wrong the first and only time they held audience.
He thinks he hates Kristen, and he hates that that hatred isn't immediately squashed out of his soul just by being here. In paradise. Where he belongs. Where every follower of Helio belongs. Where he never has to have anyone look at him the way Kristen did ever again.
I don't think Buddy Dawn asks Helio any questions. Because how do you ask the god you devoted every waking minute of your life to, 'Why do I hate it here? Why does this feel like hell?'

Once upon a time the Strawhat crew believed that their Captain was one of a kind. They took his energetic nature, clear motivation to only do what he wanted as his current mood directed without any thought beyond that, stubbornness, and still unwavering joy in the face of most things as the concoction that could only be Luffy. However they were all collectively shocked when you crash landed into their lives and promptly made them realise that everything that made Luffy his loveable yet exhausting self was also very clearly what made you you too and when you and Luffy first interacted it was like two points finally connecting, never to separate. 
All their adventures before you came along seemed like such a breeze, how naive they had been in those days to consider it difficult to keep up with Luffy’s optimism and spontaneity. After you joined the crew if felt like double the work. It didn’t matter if they had eyes on one of the chaotic pair you two created because without the vigilant supervision over both of you, it only assured a disaster that could have been avoided. It never mattered to you or Luffy because at the end of the day you two would be laughing and telling the drained crew that it had worked out in the end and that there had been nothing to worry about. After a while it wasn’t the lack of thought to the crew and their wants of an easy time on an island to explore that frustrated them, it was the fact that you and Luffy still hadn’t realised you had feelings for each other and continued to act like oblivious morons every single day while also so clearly showing them and anyone else you interacted that you were two idiots in love. 
“They’re doing it on purpose.” Nami muttered one day, arms folded tightly across her chest as she glared at you and Luffy running about the deck of the Sunny, laughing and chasing Chopper without a care in the world. Suddenly Luffy grabbed one of the masts and propelled himself through the air. Chopped managed to dodge but you ended up being the one Luffy tackled loudly onto the ground. There was a beat of silence before the two of you burst out into loud laughter once more, doing nothing to move out of the position you were currently in. “They have to be doing it on purpose. They’re evil geniuses.”
“Don’t give them so much credit. They’re both just blind to how they really feel.” Zoro disagreed from his spot in the shade, opening his good eye to look you and Luffy’s way. “Don’t know how many times the stupid cook and I have brought it up. Luffy just believes he loves them the same way he loves us as his crew.”
“Oh no, that’s a very different kind of love compared to what he feels for us.” Usopp said with a small shake of his head. He supposed that the only reason this whole matter hadn’t been resolved yet was because of your personality. Anyone else would have been more aware of the difference and clear feelings and actually talked things out with their Captain. Everyone seemed to let out a collective sigh of exhaustion and resignation. All of them wishing-more for their own selfish peace of mind more than anything- there was something to be done and help you both realise your feelings.
It wasn’t until a week later that the crew stopped at a new island to relax and enjoy while they waited for the Log Pose to set. While some took to resupplying the ships, others took to exploring. You weren’t exactly annoyed that you hadn’t gone with Luffy, you were just confused at why Usopp and Nami insisted on you joining them on their shopping trip and no one else coming with them. Had they had a fight with some of the others on the crew that you weren’t aware of? You certainly hoped not, you didn’t like the crew fighting amongst themselves. 
“Are you sure this is going to work?” Nami whispered to Usopp as they remained a couple paces away from you. Operation: Divide and Conquer might have had a good name but the strategy didn’t seem all that good except try and get you to confess to Luffy by either making you jealous or straight up lying. If they couldn’t get through to you, they would try the same tactic with Luffy.
“It has to!” Usopp hissed back, quickly throwing you a nervous smile when you looked over your shoulder with a curious tilt of your shoulder. “Hey let’s go in here!” He called out in a panic, pointing to the closest store. You stopped and shrugged, going along with whatever the sniper wanted. You had nothing to buy on this trip so you were just here for company and fun. Still this wasn’t what you’d thought would be on his or Name’s shopping list.
“Is someone getting married?” You asked, looking around the store filled with elegant gowns, robes and suits. Suddenly your eyes lit up as you hurried to hug Nami and Usopp tightly, so this was why they had insisted on you coming with them. You couldn’t fully understand why they were being so secretive but it didn’t matter given how overcome with happiness for them. “You guys! I’m so happy for you both! Have you told the others?! Are you getting married on the island?” 
“WHAT?! NO! ” Nami blurted out in shock while Usopp could only shriek at the implication. “We’re not getting married!”
“Oh…that’s a shame.” Your smile fell slightly. “I always thought you two made a nice couple. Guess I was wrong. So who is getting married?” You asked, staring intently on your friends who stammered and struggled to think of something. Operation: Divide and Conquer was crashing and burning around them and their brains all but blanked as together they rambled together while you patiently listened. Neither of them really knew what they’d told you or knew if it made any sort of sense but you seemed to accept it and continued with your day with the frazzled pair.
When you returned to the Sunny later that day you went to your usual perch of the railing near Sunny’s head. Silently you thought over what Usopp and Nami told you and were beginning to work it out in your head when Luffy appeared beside you with a bright grin. “Hey, what’s got you so frustrated looking?” He asked, oblivious to the rest of the crew on the deck; all of them pretending to go about their business when they were only making sure they were close enough to hear. 
“I’m thinking about Usopp.” You explained in a dazed tone, absently running your fingers along your bottom lip, deep in thought. Luffy frowned slightly while different sets of eyes glanced Usopp’s way, all confused about what he and Nami did while they were alone with you. “I’m trying to work out this wedding.”
“Usopp’s getting married?” Luffy asked. On the one hand he was happy but on the other hand he thought Usopp would have told him personally. “To who?”
“That’s what I’m trying to work out.” You mumbled before taking a deep breath, deciding to start from the beginning. “Usopp’s enemy wants him to marry their princess to avoid a great battle but he doesn’t want a fight or to get married so he needs to make them think he’s already married so they don’t get angry right? He needs Sanji to cater the wedding, Brook to preform the music, and Zoro to be his bodyguard so they’re out. Nami said because she’s giving Usopp the money for the wedding that’s the only favour she’s doing and won’t marry him as well because that’s not fair. Usopp said he can’t marry Franky or Robin because they’re like his parents and Chopper’s a reindeer and that’s weird. Which leaves us.” 
The more you explained the situation the more Usopp and Nami shrank towards the floor out of despair and embarrassment. Why had you believed that nonsense enough to now relay it to the entire crew who were now looking at them in bafflement. Through it all Luffy hadn’t taken his eyes off of you. He didn’t want Usopp to be forced to be married to someone he didn’t like but it didn’t stop him from quickly turning on his heel and looking to his friend. “Usopp I’ll marry you!”
“You can’t marry me dumbass!” Usopp shouted back making Luffy glare, all but standing in front of you to block you from Usopp’s stare.
“Well you’re not allowed to marry them. So it’s me or the princess.” Luffy told him with defiance in his eyes.
“Why can’t he marry me?” You asked curiously while getting to your feet, watching Luffy blink as he only now considered his fierce sense of protectiveness and possessiveness towards you. 
“Because I don’t want him to?” He suggested with a shrug. “I don’t want you to marry him, I don’t like it.”
“Well I don’t like you being married to Usopp.” You added, voicing your own reluctance and unhappiness at the thought of Luffy marrying…well anyone. There was a silent exchange between you and Luffy as though you were communicating in your own way through a look alone. Together you both grinned with a faint blush creeping across your cheeks as you both whipped your head towards Usopp and declared in unison.  “Usopp you’re marrying the princess.”
While it hadn’t been the grand romantic epiphany the crew had been expecting to witness, they could tell that a shift between you both had occurred. There was something a little more intimate between you both while you both remained your happy, energetic selves. No one on the crew had the heart to tell either of you that Usopp had been completely lying about the arranged marriage so they never mentioned it again. They were however all in agreement that if it ever was brought up it was to be brushed aside and explained as a story Usopp had been thinking of writing and nothing more. But from the looks of things slowly developing between you and Luffy they could all see that it was shaping up to having a happily ever after.

now despite you and yunjin or jennifer being on relatively bad-ish terms after the breakup, you would still rush over to her if she were to reach out to her. 
you had a bad experience to be attached to the past. so you made a rule to yourself that if that was the past call you would never answer. it was a toxic trait nonetheless you had but for some odd reason, yunjin was always the exception to this rule. 
even when one of your exes of the past called for some reason you always never answered them except her. 
it was a nice sunny day when she broke up with you. you were a producer at sm and she was a hybe trainee in a secret relationship with each other. both of your companies would definitely not like to see the top-ranked either dating each other or worse 'spilling' company secrets to each other. 
both of you were walking through a secluded park just outside of the center of seoul where the sun was shining down happily. your hand in hers, just looking like a super clingy best friend in public. both you and she sat down near a pond in the shade just admiring how the light refracted in the pool. birds chirping softly all around, the sound of a bush being ruffled while a squirrel went through it, and yunjin head on your shoulder. 
to you, this was the perfect moment until it wasn't. "hey, y/n," yunjin whispered out your name as if she didn't want you to hear it. 
"yea yunjin," you whispered back to her jokingly, still laying your head on top of hers. 
she shifted her head away from you holding your shoulder forcing you to make eye contact with her, "i want to break up."
you stood silent for a second debating if she was joking or actually serious. "is this like a joke or uh you're serious?" you questioned her as she held your shoulder still. 
she only removed her hands from your figure where she had silently nodded as her panicked eyes tried not to meet yours. two figures on the bench no more than strangers now. "can i at least ask why?" you said breaking the silence between the two of you while trying to take her hands in yours to make sure she panicked a bit less. 
she bit her lip and she cried oh so sadly. she shook her head as her hands retreated from yours leaving you alone in our or more like your little place now.

that incident happened about nine months ago and well yunjin had made it into being an idol. meanwhile, you had gotten lucky and were assigned as aespa exclusive producer at sm. you still couldn't get over the fact that the american had broken up with you in such a matter and blocked you. 
 it was a weird experience moving on to yunjin never having the closure that you had usually gotten from your previous relationships. but there was something about yunjin that you weren't able to let go of. it didn't help that aespa was friends with yunjin always when going over to see her told you about how fun she was and thinking that both of you would get along. 
you of course brushed it off with a cool, "i uh gotta make deadlines," every time though it wasn't an exact truth it wasn't really a lie. even with about a year behind you after the incident, you were definitely not ready to face the new idol, or ever for that matter. turning back towards your bright lighted monitors that were filled with new lyrics and tracks for aespa comeback. as you hear, the four idols behind you discuss random things as you set up the booth for what they need to record next.

yunjin was a wreck. 
 or at least that's what she thought she was without you. ever since that fateful day of having to break up with you. in order to save face for both of you since you were outed by one of her fellow trainees. she had never felt so empty on the inside; yes, she had these amazing girls in the world to be in the group with. don’t get her, le sseafim was the most amazing thing to ever happen to her, but was it worth sacrificing her entire half to do this?
 over a month ago, she was so sure of her decision, but yet here she was crying on the floor of a random practice room at 2 a.m. with multiple calls from the two eldests and numerous messages that seemed to never end. her brain has always been scattered for the past week, no matter how much reorganizing, journaling, or songwriting she has done. 
 a blurb of the week is what it was. too fast to recount everything, but too slow to pass by. She could always find time these types of weeks to think about you. did you block her back? maybe you have someone else now? or worse, maybe you had forgotten her completely.
 whatever the case was, it didn't end her undying craving to see you or be in your presence again. the comfort you had provided the past her, the soft sunlight that always seemed to shone down on you with your walks in the parks, and that stupidly adorable laugh. for now, all she could convince herself was to hold herself back while warm tears were streaming down her face. as she utters to herself underneath her breath, ‘"i wish i could see you again,” ' while packing all her things and heading to le sserafim dorms again.

you on the other hand were also not doing too hot either.
you weren't a complete mess per say but let's just say your bosses weren't very pleased lately with your worth ethic. checking your phone constantly for messages, how you didn't put aespa constantly at work like some fellow producers, or how long it took you to produce a song for them.
all of these criticism were slowly but surely killing your creative output and also the insurmountable pressure from fans to create another song that tops the last didn't help either.
you know what you needed yunjin. no wait. you don't need her, she left you. or at least that the argument you always battle against yourself. you went down to the vending machine as the machine light flickered, with a variety of snacks reflecting your tired figure. it was just another day of the week for you, the company barren at this unholy hour you were here.
another unhealthy energy drink entered your system by the time you had left the place where the machine was as you made your way back towards your second home. you hear slight whispers and giggles from across one of the halls. you look over curious to see who would also be at this hell hole willingly, seeing three figures you could make out. winter, ning ning, and her.
god. she look like she was doing well. you quickly turned back towards the direction of the studio after briefly seeing her not wanting to draw any attention yourself. a small smile plastered over your face as you walked away from the scene.

oddly enough you never turned back and saw the figure looking back at you with such shock at your state.
yunjin had never once seen you look so disarrayed or sleep-deprived in her life. she knew that you still worked at sm for some time now but never knew what you were up to.
her thoughts were interrupted by an excited ning ning, "oh! that's y/n do you know her?" the youngest asked.
she looked over where your figure once was, lingering a little bit too long in her opinion to be over her ex. a simple reply of  "no," was given as the younger simply pouted, and the eldest being a little skeptical of her answers to her actions. 
“you sure?” the short-haired girl questioned, looking over at the american in disbelief. yunjin noted how her facade was slowly crumbling in front of winter. panic rushed over her taking over her head again as she felt her heartbeat slowly travel to her head like a punch each time it pounded. 
“yep,” she shakily replied as she racked her mind with a single excuse of wanting to see you. the aespa members had bought the lie for now, but she now looked at her sweaty hands gripping her phone again. wanting, no. needing to call out for you just down the hall but she couldn’t then and there, especially with people.

it was six am the next morning where you had received a call. you flipped over the incessant noise making phone calls to see who was crazy enough to call a person at this hour. it was you ex. yunjin. 
you looked in pure shock and disbelief. deciding not to pick up the phone but instead let it ring through. picking up the phone a minute after your ex had call you. only too see that she had left a message.
curious to see what your ex had to say after your not so amicable break up you pressed play. there a single sentence was shakily uttered out from the voice you had loved so dearly.
'meet me at our place.'
then the message had ended. you rushed out in your pajamas, towards the park you and yunjin had always visit before. grabbing only your phone and wallet before rushing out.
after 15 minutes of sprinting to the park you saw a figure sitting waiting out on the bench facing out towards the pond that both of you once enjoyed. you walked slowly out on the path now not wanting to disturb her but of course you had to step on a twig, snapping it. making the figure turn its head around facing you wide eyed and seemingly almost out words.
"you came?" yunjin uttered out in a low voice as if she was never truly expected you to show up. after all she was the one who abandoned you for no reason, explanation, and had blocked you on all social media.
you smiled at her gently, before responding softly back "you called?" finally glad too see her and talk to her once again.

Chris’ POV
I got invited to a party tonight. It’s some celebration for a certain YouTuber I’ve never met before, but a party is a party when it comes to LA. It never really matters who they are, but getting invited is enough. 
I dressed in a black hoodie, dark pants, and a white beanie pulled over my head, concealing the long hair I have yet to cut. 
I haven’t talked to Sunny since the break up. It’s weird to even call it that considering our entire relationship was long distance. I don’t even know if I can count it as a real relationship, but I know she would, so I don’t want to be the asshole who doesn’t see things the same way. 
The worst part about all of this is the fact that there’s no one I want more than her. It’s always been that way, and it’s never going to change. It’s always been her, and the fact that we’re on opposite sides of the country makes this all so unfair.
The love we have for each other has always been so strong, and I thought we could handle anything. I thought distance wouldn’t be so bad. We would work hard, and our determination would show how much we love each other. We would have to fight for it and prove to the other person that we wanted it, and I know we both did.
So why did it have to go this way?
I want to reach out and ask her how she is. I started to, but she left me on read. Petty little actions from her side of things that made me think I would never be able to get through to her. 
I know she’s upset, and I can’t blame her, but my intentions were there. I knew it would only get harder, and I needed to end it before it would have made the breakup worse. I love her so much, she knows that. It’s like she’s trying to convince herself otherwise so she doesn’t come back to me.
Above all, I just want my best friend back.
We used to be able to talk about everything. Hell, I knew what fucking tampons she used because she would send me out to get them when we were in high school and she couldn’t leave the fetal position in her bed from her cramps hurting her so badly. 
I knew what time of the year was her least favorite and how to cheer her up so she didn’t struggle for months. I knew how she liked her food so I could make sure the order was perfect for her when we would go through a drive-thru.
This was all so unfair, but I need her to work with me, and she refuses. 
I followed my brothers to the Uber and sat silently in the backseat behind the driver with my phone tucked in my pocket. I felt like an idiot for checking the notification every time it vibrated. I hoped it would be her, but it never was. 
Like an absolute idiot, I text her again, surely making a fool of myself. 
Me: Can you let me know you’re okay?
I tuck my phone back into my pocket and pull it back out when I feel it vibrate again. 
Progress has been made, because she read it, and reacted to the message.
I have to remind myself that it’s something when I see the thumbs up tacked to the top of my message to her. While it’s not much, it’s something and I have to be grateful for that. 
I met up with some of my friends at the party, all of whom were waiting for me to arrive with shot glasses in their hands. I don’t bother asking what the drink of choice is before I throw it back, letting it burn my throat and make me choke on a cough. 
Without getting a chance to ask for a drink, a different cup is shoved in my hand. I take a sip and purse my lips in disgust at the shitty beer they bought for this party. Once again, I remind myself to be grateful, because at least something is going to be getting me drunk tonight. 
It doesn’t take much to get me drunk tonight. I woke up late as usual and hadn’t eaten until we arrived here, and the only food I’ve put in my body are small snack plates that are arranged on a large table. Crackers, cheese, and pieces of pepperoni. Basically a fucking lunchable pack scattered across a charcuterie board. 
The same girl keeps bringing me drinks. She wants to get me drunk, and I know why. She knows what she’s doing, and even though I do too, I don’t bother telling her to go away. I’m known for being a piece of shit at the last minute when I could’ve prevented all of this. That became obvious with me and Sunny, right? 
She has dark makeup covering her eyes, and the lighting only makes it harder to see her face. Not to mention I’m tipsy and my vision is starting to go out. She reaches for my hand, the one not holding an almost empty beer, and she places it on her shoulder. I play with the strap of her tight dress while she pulls herself closer to me. She wraps her arms around my own, holding herself at my side, making me wonder if I’ve said anything to invite this arrangement that I’ve already forgotten about. 
Once my friends walk away from us, she raises herself on her feet to whisper in my ear. 
“Do you want to go somewhere?”
I furrow my brows, sipping the rest of my drink. “Not really.”
She pouts her dark red lips at me. “Why not?”
I set my empty cup down and lean against a table. “I can’t even see straight right now. You could be a dude in a wig for all I know.”
She laughs a bit at me, but I’m not making jokes. She takes both my hands and traces the curves of her body with them. “Does that prove anything to you?”
A shiver goes up my arms as I feel her body. My head feels like a fucking bowling ball. My legs are frozen but somehow also feel like they’re about to give out. My eyes can’t stay open, I’m starting to wobble, but when I fall forward, she catches me. 
“I got you,” she whispers, holding me carefully. 
“Where are my brothers?” I ask quietly, unable to speak any louder without feeling like I’m going to projectile vomit. 
She looks around the hall we’re in. “Maybe they’re occupied too.”
I shake my head. “No. Take me to them. I have to find my brothers.”
She goes to argue with me, and yeah, she’s hot, but she’s not who I want. 
I push myself off of her and struggle to stand. I look like an idiot when I try to walk away. I’m falling into people and trying to open my eyes enough to see either of my siblings. I shake my head, tears starting to pour out. “You don’t get it. She’s all I wanted. I fucked it up. I rushed into everything. I went too fast. We could’ve been perfect, Nick–”
“Okay!” he interrupts me. “And maybe you just weren’t. Maybe it wasn’t enough. I mean, fuck, Chris!” he runs his hands through his hair. “I’m sorry that you’re heartbroken, I really am, but you can’t keep burrowing your head under the dirt and moping about the same thing. If she’s not talking to you anymore, then that’s on her. You can’t make her want to come back to you. Just give her time, and she’ll come around if she really wants to. If she doesn’t, she’s not who you thought she was. Either way, you need to get your act together. You can mope in your room, but don’t get trashed here in front of everyone.” 
The words hit me like a fucking knife, cutting me open after every single one. I feel so hurt that I have to check to make sure I’m not actually bleeding out right now. 
I want to kill him for what he said, the way he talked about her, but I’m so weak right now I can’t even move, and by the time I have that strength back in my body, I won’t even remember this interaction.
He sits outside with me and forces me to drink a water, waiting until I’m composed enough to go back inside.

Needless to say I thought I was going to throw up when I read that message. 
I had barely finished my shift at work, only just clocking out and walking to my car. My bag almost fell out of my hands when I read what he wrote for me.
Chris had been trying to reach out for some time now, but in all honesty, I just needed a break. I needed to get myself back on track and try to piece myself back together after he continued to rip me apart, sew me back together, and rip me apart again. It was exhausting. I was exhausted.
Above all, I love him no matter what our relationship is, so when he texted to make sure I was okay, I of course answered. It may have only been a thumbs up, but it was something, and that’s what he wanted.
No one is ever going to love you the way I did.
Maybe that’s true, but hopefully no one else destroys me like you did too.
I love you more than anyone else and I always will.
Then why did you throw us away?
I let the questions consume me on my drive home, and once I make it to my shower, everything unfolds. I’m a sobbing mess, embarrassed at the control he has over me. I want to scream at him. I want to hate him and never worry about him again.
But he’s the same guy who would ask me if I wanted a Barbie or a Spiderman tattoo when I scraped my knee riding our bikes.

The next morning I woke up angrier than ever. 
How dare he do this to me. This back and forth and push and shove, I love you, I can’t be with you, but no one will love you like I do bullshit. I’m tired of it. It’s not fair, and it’s damaging to our friendship, which should be what we’re trying to salvage above anything else. 
I’m barely thinking when I reach for my phone and call him. I know he’s probably sleeping, and part of me wants him to wake up and hear me rip him apart for a change, while the other part of me hopes he doesn’t answer so I can say I tried and then never do this shit again.
“Hello?” he groans, his voice a groggy mess. Just as I thought, he’s asleep.
I hate the way my entire body softens at the sound of his voice.
“We need to talk.”
“Right now? he asks. “It’s five in the morning Sun–”
“Do not call me that.”
He sighs. “I get not calling you baby, but now I can’t even call you your nickname?”
“No, Chris, you can’t.”
My tone is clear. I’m a pissed off, worked up mess. He knows that. It’s obvious. 
“What did you call me for then?” 
My throat tightens. Sharp stabs thrash at my flesh, and then I realize the knives I’m picturing at my neck don’t exist. 
My voice breaks slightly, but I cover it up enough. “What the fuck was that text last night?”
He sits up in his bed so fast I can hear the bed shift through the phone. “What text?”
“No one is ever going to love you the way I did, and I love you more than anyone else and I always will,” I enlighten him. “What? You don’t remember!”
He pauses. “Actually… no, I don’t remember.” Silence fills the call. “I was at a party last night. I got drunk, and I texted you. I was busy thinking about how you cut me off entirely after I tried to keep things normal between us, and then while I was drunk I must have had a breakdown and texted you.”
At this point, I’m furious. The words spew out of my mouth before I can think about what I’m saying. 
“Did you have fun fucking another girl while you were thinking about me?” 
He doesn’t say anything for a moment, clearly thinking about if he should throw a comment back at me, or if he should be the mature one for a change. 
“No, Sunny. I didn’t. I was busy sitting outside with Nick drunk off my shit, not thinking straight, trying not to throw up, while I cried over the fact that I thought you hated me and I lost you for good. Was a girl trying to come home with me? Yes. Did I get the fuck away from her because she wasn’t you and no girl will ever fucking be you? Yes, I fucking did.”
Guilt treads through my bloodstream. The snap at him only felt good for a second until he broke the dam that held him together and told me everything he felt about me and him.
“Then why did you break up with me, Chris?” I finally let go and let the tears fall. “Why didn’t you fight for us–”
“I was fighting for you every fucking day, Sunny! Every day! I had to get up every morning and not know when I was going to see my girlfriend. What’s the fun in that?! You and I both know this was the right decision for right now, and if you want to hate me for what I decided to do, then you must not want to be with me in the future, because if I said that I fucking promise that we’ll be together someday, just not now, then that should be enough,” he fires off.
“I’m sorry.”
He inhales deeply, gathering himself again. “Work with me here. I’m promising you that we’re going to make it out of this alright if you just fucking work with me. No more of this back and forth fighting shit. No more of us not hearing the other person out. I want you in my life no matter what it fucking is. Now can you say that you understand and you love me too and that you trust me that this is the right decision so I can go back to bed? I have a hangover, Sunny. Please.”
Someday.
That’s better than never in a million years. 
“I love you,” I mumble, even though I’m trying to scream it. “And I trust you.”

It was a hot day. The sun shined bright and no dark clouds were visible in the sky; it was the perfect day to go to the beach, and oh, Ellie was dying to. She gets into her truck and makes her way to the beach, quietly singing along to the song that plays on the radio. Ellie smiles and he continues. “There’s some drinks on the cooler right there,” Jesse points to a small light-blue icebox a few steps from them. “And some snacks on the bag beside it,” She nods looking at the black backpack. “Feel free to take whatever you want; Dina and Y/N are taking a swim.” Ellie turns her gaze to the wide blue ocean, watching as you and Dina laugh splashing the water around.
“Thanks. You getting in, too?”
“Yeah, just wanted to drink a bit and catch a tan first.” Ellie stands and walks towards the cooler, opening and getting a beer. Going to sit again, she opens it and takes a sip, the cold liquid refreshing her throat as she lays her back onto the beach chair. “What about you, gonna take a dip with Y/N?” She chuckles and turns her face away from him.
“I don’t know what you mean by that,”
“Haa, I’m not so sure about that. You think we don’t know what y’all were up to in your car when we came to the beach last week?”
“We just… Talked. And- and we hotboxed.” She trips over her words, shy over the little escapade you two had.
“Whenever two people who have insane sexual tension are together, in a closed space, they do a lot more than just talking.” Jesse proclaims as if it was a matter of fact and Ellie rolls her eyes.
“Whatever… You’re so annoying.”
“I know,” He says proudly as he places his drink on the sand and stands up. “I’m gonna go play mermaids’ with Dina now, wanna come?”
“Not now, go ahead.” Ellie watches as Jesse lets out an alright and he begins to walk towards the crystalline water, swimming towards you and Dina who smiles as he approaches. Soon the three of you engage in a conversation following up by Jesse making an exaggerated mermaid act, causing you and Dina to swim a little further from him.
“Can you two please stop being boring bitches and have fun?” He pleads, upset over the fact you nor his girlfriend wanted to act like kids in public.
“Yeah, no. I’m not gonna swim around and act stupid like you.”
“You’re just mad I have childlike wonder, Y/N.” He goes closer to Dina and wraps his arms around her. “Will you play with me, Dina? You can be Ariel and I’ll be Prince Eric.”
“We can reenact that scene where he drowns but instead of saving you I just swim away.” Dina suggests and he lets an annoyed huff out.
“Wow, I thought you loved me.”
“God, Jesse, when did you get so dramatic?” She hugs him back and he kisses her cheek. “I’ll play with you.”
“Y/N?” Jesse looks at you with puppy eyes and you hum. “Will you play with your dear friends?”
“No, but thanks for asking.” He kisses his teeth and throws the salty water in your direction. “Jesse!”
“You should go be boring with Ellie,” He says, pulling Dina closer to where the ocean got deeper. “She's by our stuff.” A smile appears on your face as Jesse lets you know she’s already here, you begin to swim back hurriedly, excited to see Ellie again. “They’re down bad for each other, huh?” Dina nods in agreement, the two of them watching you running towards the spot you all settled in when you arrived at the beach earlier this morning.
When Ellie sees you walking towards her, her green eyes sparkle with desire as she looks down at your body, almost exposed under the tiny bikini you’re wearing. “I was just finishing up, and–” Ellie fingers trace up and down your soft skin, she looks down at your chest, covered by a small burgundy triangle top, and then backs up your eyes as she clears her throat. “To be honest, I was hoping you'd come here. I brought you something.” She leans forward on her beach chair with you still seated across both her legs, and places her can onto the sand, grabbing her tote bag. You observe her attentively as she removes a scratched metal tin and places it into your hands. Opening it, you see four perfectly wrapped blunts.
“Really? They're for me?” You give her a toothy smile, making her heart melt.

Amber has been mad at you all week for you ghosting her without an explanation. Well, that was a little exaggeration. You left her on read for most of the day and then disappeared off to god knows where the next morning.
The reason you have been ghosting her is that you needed time for yourself. You had to admit, she was clingy. It wasn’t so much the fact that she would beg every five seconds for cuddles as it was the constant ‘are you coming back or what’s wrong?’ from her. The last thing you wanted to do was to make things worse and upset Amber further than they already were.
It was a Friday morning when you texted her if you could come over. She left you on seen, meaning that she was still mad at you. Of course, Amber never got mad. She was always too forgiving and understanding about everything. This just made you feel even more guilty, because now she was thinking that you had abandoned her again.
You looked at the window and saw rain pouring down outside. Not exactly ideal weather. The forecast called for sunny skies and warm weather throughout the week, but there was a chance that some of these conditions would be canceled out due to the heavy rainfall. You knew that you probably wouldn’t get to spend much time with her, considering how bad your luck had been lately.
Tears started flowing down your cheeks as you sat on the bed. This wasn’t fair, this wasn’t right. All Amber ever did was love you unconditionally. Sure, she might have been a bit overly dramatic, but in any other situation it wouldn’t matter.
You just needed space and you might’ve took it for too long. Now that you finally had enough space, you regretted leaving Amber behind. She deserved better.
You needed to apologize.
So you got dressed and headed out to your car. The rain continued pouring down relentlessly. Your windshield wipers weren’t doing much good here. You drove to Amber’s house in record time, knowing that you may not have another opportunity like this.
The tears were still flowing down your face as you got out of the car. The sky had begun to turn dark grey, which indicated that it wasn’t going to stop raining. You ran up to the door to Amber’s house. You pounded on the door as loudly as possible. There was no answer. You knocked again and tried to open the door.
“Amber please open the door…” you whined, hoping for some sort of response. You heard shuffling inside. “Please let me in… please I need to talk to you…” You waited for a moment but none came.
You slumped down on the porch with your head in your hands. How pathetic could you possibly look right now? Amber was going to hate you. She hated when people broke promises especially ones that you made. You had broken her heart after all.
You cried harder as you heard thunder rumbling in the distance. Rain started pelting down harder, soaking you through to your skin. It felt cold, colder than you expected it to, but you didn’t mind. You deserved this. You deserved to freeze to death while being soaked to the bone by the rain. But you didn’t want to die, not yet anyway. What you really needed was someone who loved you to hold you and tell you that it would be okay. And you didn’t think that someone could be Amber.
She was too forgiving and understanding and kind. She was far too accepting to understand that you couldn’t love her like she loved you.
With all of those thoughts swirling in your head you couldn’t keep your eyes open anymore. Everything was starting to blur. A small noise pulled you from your slumber.
Was that...?
Your eyes opened as the door unlocked and swung open. Standing in front of you was Amber. She wore only pajama pants and her hair was mussed. Her expression turned into one of surprise when she saw the state you were in. Then confusion washed over her features and she knelt in front of you to help you stand.
“What are you doing out here? Are you alright? Did something happen?”
You got up off of the ground and hugged her tightly. “I’m just really sorry for ghosting you all the time…” Tears spilled down your cheeks and onto Amber’s shoulder.
Amber sighed. “It’s fine. Really. I know it isn’t your fault. I mean, I’m not mad anymore...but I guess I don’t know why you kept doing it.”
“You were too clingy and I just wanted some space.” Your voice cracked as you said that. You pulled away from the embrace to try to wipe the tears off of your cheeks and face. But they just kept streaming down, so you just gave up trying and allowed them to keep falling. They were wetter now though.
“Baby, you should’ve told me…I would have understood.” Amber wrapped her arms around you and held you close, stroking your head gently.
“So you forgive me?” You asked, sounding hopeful.
“Of course. Why shouldn’t I?” She kissed the top of your head and then pulled away slightly to meet your eye contact. You smiled sadly then nodded, allowing tears to fall once again from your eyes.
She leaned in for a kiss and you reciprocated. It was perfect. Perfect for the first time since the breakup, at least. Amber held you until your breathing became easier and steadier. As she broke the kiss, your eyes fluttered shut and you leaned your forehead against hers. Both of you laughed softly as you regained composure.
She suddenly grabbed your arm and pulled you guys in the rain together. The water immediately soaked both of your clothes and hair, but neither of you cared. You stayed out in the rain with her, holding each other under the rain, feeling happy and safe and secure in each others embrace.
You didn’t want anything else.

'Wasn't it sunny two weeks ago?' John grumbles, taking a too-big gulp of too-hot tea as the usual outside chaos of a Monday morning in London is superceded by-- for fuck's sake-- snow.
His personal chaos, though, is (perhaps predictably) worsened by it.
Sherlock doesn't look up from where he's feeding Rosie from a beaker of scrambled eggs. 'Why is it that people insist on asking inane questions about the weather?'
John turns his eyes heavenward, then crosses to put his mug in the sink. 'I cannot wait until Rosie grows up so I can have a normal conversation with someone,' he mutters.
Sherlock makes a derisive noise. 'Rosamund is not normal nor should she aspire to be. And she is already conversant.'
As if on cue, a sound resembling the word 'Snow!' squeals into the kitchen air.
'That's correct, Ms Watson. 'Snow day.'
'Snow day!' Rosie repeats enthusiastically, flinging her hands in the air. John casually moves the beaker out of flight range. Eggs are relatively easy to clean up, but still.
He looks towards the windows, where the curtains have been pushed back to reveal that brightness that only comes with snow. 'There's barely half an inch out there, you know.'
'Doesn't matter,' Sherlock insists. 'Snow day, it is.'
'Her nursery is still open,' John puts in.
'Snow day!' Rosie yells again.
'I have to go into the clinic,' he tries. The thought of leaving now, though, makes him even grumpier than just the fact of it being a Monday morning with snow on the ground.
Sherlock leans into Rosie. 'What do you think, Rosamund? Don't you agree it's rubbish that your father insists on keeping hours at that dirty place?'
John rolls his eyes. 'Always nice to see your snobbery in full force, then.'
'Nonsense, I'm just stating a fact.'
'Rosie brings home shedloads of germs from nursery every day, Sherlock.'
'All the more reason for you to stop working, cut the number of foreign bodies by half.'
'Sherlock, what--' But John stops, mind stumbling to a conclusion as he stares at Sherlock. Whose neck is starting to redden.
'Never mind,' the detective says, clearly trying to sound neutral but failing. 'Go forth and remain part of the toiling masses.' He plucks Rosie up and takes her over to the window. 'We'll be here having all the fun, we won't miss you at all.'
John pauses, wavering. He puts his coat on, listening as Sherlock and Rosie chat in a language only they understand.
Then he stands up straight, and goes to kiss his daughter goodbye.
Her cheek is soft, her mouth gummy yet sharp with tiny teeth. 'Well,' he says, smoothing back her hair but looking only at Sherlock. 'I cannot say the same will be true for me.'
Sherlock's eyes widen almost imperceptibly. But John's not ready to say more, so he nods once, and makes his way out into the snow.

summary: ellie moves to a lonely coastal town, and finds herself with toes in the sand more often than not nowadays. she ignored the folk tales she'd hear from elderly residents, those about mythical creatures hiding in the sea. until she makes eye contact with something otherworldly one winter afternoon.

moving to a coastal town was certainly not on ellie’s bucket list. to be frank, the ocean, though peaceful, scared the shit out of her at the very same time. it’s not exactly the ocean that gave her the creeps; it’s the unknown that did it.
the ocean is the great unknown. less than ten percent of the entire ocean has actually been discovered and explored.
for all ellie knew, there could be giant sea monsters hiding below, ready to eat her whole the second she went in too deep. childish fear, but a real one.
her neighbours once told her old folk tales about mermaids hanging around the shore. she would smile and nod, but never believed the stories had truth to them. it just seemed far-fetched.
there’s always something different about the beach every time you go. it’s never the same.
ellie’s learned to expect that now. on her second day, her toe had been pinched by a crab when she stepped in the wrong place. now she makes sure to watch out for crab holes.
now that she was only a walk away from the beach, she found that if she wanted some peace it was the only place she could go. she’d walk along for a couple miles until she was isolated, choosing to sit on the jetty far from everyone else to be at peace with her thoughts. it didn’t matter when the wind would pick up and cause goosebumps to rise on her calves when the sun began to set - she’d look into the deep blue waters and watch schools of fish swim past if it was clear, and she’d stare at her own reflection when it was not. all that mattered was that she was alone.
she’d roll up her jeans and wade through the shallow sand on the warmer days, or let her feet hang off the jetty when the tide was high.
sometimes she was brave enough to bring her guitar with her. keep her hands busy. a perfect place to practise, where only the seagulls would hear.
or so she thought.

you had a fascination with land above the sea. you collected anything you could find, and dedicated your life to learning what everything did and how humans lived above the surface. you’d never get close enough to be seen by anyone, you’d heard horrible things about what could happen if you were caught.
that’s why the pier was your greatest find yet.
the end of it led to a space where the ocean was deep enough that unless it was bright and sunny out, you wouldn’t be seen below the soft waves.
you were able to sneak under the jetty without being seen.
and the best part? this was the closest you could get to observing human nature.
a girl would come sit with her feet in the water everyday. she didn’t do much. she’d sit there, she’d speak sometimes, but you didn’t know who she would speak to. herself, maybe?
sometimes you’d hear different sounds, a sweet melody played by some kind of object you’d not seen before.
there was only one rule that you had, and that rule was to not be caught.
which sounded easy enough, but sometimes the seagulls would look down and squawk at you, finding a human with a fish tail an unfamiliar sight. you didn’t want to draw any attention to yourself or your cover would be blown.
but luckily it never seemed to faze the girl who sat on the jetty. in fact, she’d laugh softly, a sound that never failed to please your ears.
you always timed yourself perfectly - you knew what time she’d show up everyday, so you’d try to get there before she did.
sometimes you’d prop yourself up on a ladder down the side of the jetty to get a better look at her. not close enough for your liking, but it was all you had.
what you weren’t prepared for, though, was for her to look back and watch a seagull fly away, into your direction - she paused when she noticed you, and you were sure that your eyes widened just as much as hers.
both fearful, but for different reasons.
“how long have you been there?” she called out in an accusatory tone.
you dived off the ladder as fast as you could when you noticed her begin to stand up, presumably to walk in your direction.
ellie didn’t know what to think. first, she was disturbed that somebody was watching her - but the more upsetting fact was what she had seen. she didn’t know if her eyes were deceiving her.
there was no way - mermaids just weren’t real. it couldn’t be true, could it? and
she didn’t know anymore if what she had seen was even real - she began trying to look around but couldn’t find it, until she thought to try and look under the jetty.
this is a bad, bad idea, ellie, she thought, losing her balance slightly. when she knelt down, angling her head to look under the jetty, a pair of eyes met with her own. and the shock of it all had caused her to fall in.
you watched her, and you assumed she could swim, in fact, you assumed she had jumped in on purpose to catch you. you flinched and turned to swim away, when you noticed she wasn’t making any distance on you - she was struggling to.
you couldn’t just leave her there.
you felt like you knew her fairly well at this point, listening to some of the things she would say some days while she was at the jetty. not that much of it made sense. but you knew there was someone she had to return to. she often spoke about a joel. from what you could tell, he cared about her dearly.
you couldn’t just leave her there to die.
you mustered any courage and strength that you had swim back towards her, trying to calm her flailing limbs and bring her to the ladder at the jetty - it was a quicker and easier way to help her rather than to bring her to the shore.
she climbed up the ladder as fast as she could, coughing up water and trying to clear her throat so she could say something. you didn’t know what to say or do to make any of this better.
there was a voice in your head, telling you to turn back and swim away as fast as possible, and to never return. but you didn’t know why exactly you felt stuck in place.
the human cleared her throat one more time, meeting eyes with you finally. you noticed they were green. that was the one thing that you suspected was stopping you from turning away to safety - you were finally up close. you could see things you had never been able to see about her before. freckles covered every inch of visible skin.
she watched you, taking in the way your head tilted to the side as you stared at her. she breathed in heavily, noticing the gills on your neck and the random splatters of iridescent blue scales covering parts of your skin.
she reached out to you, very slowly, and you flinched.
she moved even slower now, running her fingers over a small group of scales on your shoulder, leaving bumps in their wake.
you were truly the most beautiful thing she’d ever seen.
moving to a coastal town had never been on ellie’s bucket list, but she was now glad she had.
“why?” she asked. “why did you save me? i didn’t mean to startle you- i just- i was shocked. why did you come back?”
“i don’t know,” you lied. “i couldn’t leave you there.”

Slow build like novel damn length okay, Very Fluffy, Pinch of Angst, Relationship Development, Hurt/Comfort, Older man/ Younger(30s) women, Alternative universe, fictional work (IDK WHY BUT I AM PUTTING IT) Probably more as I go.
Synopsis: Working in film as a make-up artist is hard enough, but then Walton Goggins requests you, well it's way too easy to fall down the rabbit hole.

Three weeks go by quickly. Time always flies when you are busy. Liz has gone back to her usual snot-nose self. Basically avoiding you at all costs unless you have to swap information. Katie had also taken the same stance on things. She was much more curt and would regularly give you side eyes. It hurt. You'd always like Katie, she may not have been a friend but the cold shoulder was rough. You'd also been traveling a lot more. The nice thing was Trevor and you would share rides. If you were slated to travel south of town you'd pick him up. North and he'd pick you up. Most mornings you'd try to snooze a little on the drive. He never pushed things, not that there was anything to push. But it was still nice not to have questions about your lackluster love life. Instead, you would just talk about him and Decon. They were getting on famously and had talked about potentially moving in together. 
As for Walton, he was his usual goofy self, but there was something off. He doesn't touch you as much. No hand on your elbow, or quick cheek kisses as he leaves the trailer. He wouldn't drag his chair over to make sure he sat beside you so that he could show you something funny he found on Instagram. Instead of sitting himself a little further from everyone, he seemed to have distanced himself from most of the crew. You didn't realize how much you noticed all the little things until they were gone. You've taken to eating lunch in the makeup and hair trailer. Trevor has been hanging with Decon and the rest of the props department. As much as you enjoy the company you can't help but feel like a third wheel. So eating alone while reading a book is just easier. Plus the book took your mind off the fact that you felt a heart-sick. Even though nothing had transpired, you had been more hopeful than you had realized. 
So instead you‘re busing yourself, already lining up another show for when this one is finished, which is a huge relief. Having a show slated ahead of time can be daunting and it depends on who you vibe with more than your talent. Thankfully your name has gotten out there, untarnished by Liz and you've clicked with a few heads of departments who are happy to have you. Your year is full, you even let yourself look over apartment listings. A good half of them are way out of your price range. The other half is several cities away, and with how expensive gas is, the lower rent wouldn't matter.
You let out a sigh checking your watch. Another fifteen minutes before the trailer would be swamped with people. You briefly wonder if you could get a nap in. The last week of night shoots had worn you out. A knock on the door pushes that thought away. 
“Come on in.” You call out expecting an AD or maybe Costumes to come in.
The door opens and Walton comes in, hat and sunglasses blocking out the unusually sunny day. You felt slightly annoyed that you'd have to redo his face, and Trevor would have to unflatten his hair. Your heart speeding up pushed that out of your mind. 
“Hey, Walton.” You say, trying unsuccessfully to ignore the butterflies in your stomach along with your elevated heart rate.
“Hey, gorgeous,” He says with that wicked grin as he settles in the chair across from you. The nickname makes you straighten yourself up.
“You're a bit early. But I don't mind,” You say, reminding yourself that you need to keep your distance if you are going to make it the next few months. 
“I am actually here to ask you a question.” His hands adjust his clothing. You wonder for a moment if he is as nervous as you are. The morning from nearly a month ago playing out, the thought of him full of jittery energy as you sat with him. 
“Oh?” You ask, taking a sip from your water bottle to hide your smile.
“Would you like to come out for dinner with me?” 
You worry at your lip for a moment. The man had barely spoken to you for almost a month and now was suddenly asking you out. It really didn’t make much sense. 
“Sure, who else is going?” You ask, having convinced yourself that he must have arranged a get-together like the weekend previously. There was not a snowflake in hell chance he was asking you on a date.
He looks down at his hands fiddling with his watch and taking off his shades to look at you. “Was kind of hoping it would be just the two of us,” 
Now your face is flushed, was this happening? “Oh- umm- like a date?”
Walton's cheeks turn pink and he rubs the back of his neck. Damn, you'd missed how bashful he'd get about you. “Yeah, a date. There's a sushi place close to me that I've been wanting to go to.”
“I would love that,” the words fall out of your mouth before you even have time to think. He grinned, his whole face lighting up, making the monetary lack of judgment worth it.
“Could I pick you up at your place around seven?”
You have a smile breaking across your face. “Now here I was worried about giving some ‘random man’ my address.”
His hundred-watt smile lights you up and you are half tempted to go kiss the dang fool. “I promise to only drive by a few times.”
The door opens and Trevor is coming in. You swore the man had both the best and worst timing. 
“Hey, you.” His face changes as he sees Walton. If thought bubbles were real you were certain ‘oh shit’ would have hung over his head. “I seem to have excellent timing interrupting you both.”
“No, you're good,” Walton waves his hand at him, a small smirk still pulling at his lips. “Was just ready to get myself looking good for the next scene.”

Trevor has been trying unsuccessfully to get you to spill the beans. But you refuse to tell him anywhere near where people could overhear you both. You'd rather avoid any more scoldings from Liz. The last thing you wanted was for her to get even more pissed off than she already was.
The day is finally done, and you're anxious to get home and change. Trevor follows you to the parking lot chattering about his plans with Decon. You can tell it's taking everything in him not to pester you for more details. 
“So are you going to tell me? Or do I need to follow you home?” He finally gives in. Part of you doesn't want to tell him, the rumor mill could feed itself. But this was Trevor, someone who you actually liked as a friend. He wasn't going to spill the beans on you.
You sigh, unlocking your car and dropping your purse into the front seat “I am just going out for dinner.”
Trevor's face lights up, and he all but screeches, “Really!?” 
You tap his shoulder and he immediately calms down. Looking around you are relieved no one seems to have heard his excited chatter.
“Really, you're actually going out on a date with Walton?” The man is so excited he is vibrating. He may be more excited than you are.
You do your best not to laugh at him “Yes, we are, the first date. It's nothing serious, just going to eat sushi.”
Trevor's eyebrows narrowed, confusion gracing his face.“Wait. It’s your first date?”
You turn back to eyebrows scrunched, “Yeah. He's barely spoken to me until today.”
Trevor looks surprised, “Wait. Hold on. I thought you two had just taken things” He makes indistinguishable hand motions. “Outside office hours.”
“What? No. He's practically avoided me since I broke down a month ago.” You are shocked that he hadn't asked about this before. 
“Holy hell. It took him that long to get it together.” 
You groan looking at your watch. “Stop it. I have to get going. Please don't tell anyone.”
Trevor made the zipper motion over his lips. “But you better text me when you get home. I want all the details.”
You roll your eyes but nod as you finally get in the car. Knowing full well you'd have a novel worth of text to read by the end of the evening.

Once home you jump in the shower. Braiding your hair like Trevor had taught you, two braids on either side meeting in the middle and down the back. Mascara, eyeliner, and some tinted moisturizer go on. It’s quick and simple but does the job. Once you are mostly dry you move over to your stand-up wardrobe. You curse at the fact that eighty percent of your clothes are either black or stained.  Throwing caution to the wind you find a pair of black denim jeans and loose loose-fitting purple top. It's not like you're walking the red carpet. You wanted cute but functional. Digging around you're surprised when you find a pair of non-scuffed boots. They fit relatively well and shouldn’t give you blisters if you end up going for a walk.
A black handbag is filled with bits and bobs. Lip Chap, hair elastic, wallet, phone, a charging cable, a small container with Tylenol, mints, and ginger tablets. You also grab a black leather jacket that's light enough to carry but warm enough to protect you from the evening winds.  Years of running on fumes have taught you how to move quickly and travel lightly. Most of the time problems could be solved with what was on hand.
A few deep breaths and affirmative thoughts and you feel significantly better. It was going to be a good evening you repeated to yourself. Phone buzzing, you grab it out of your bag.
“Just downstairs.”
You quickly reply that you're ‘Coming downstairs’ 
Grabbing your keys you lock up and head out. Trying to calm your mind as you rush down the stairs. It was just a dinner date, sushi, and some chatting. Just because you haven't been on a date for almost six years doesn't mean you need to be full of anxiety. 
Being single and working in film meant you either dated folks who also worked in film or you didn't date. Unfortunately, you didn't have a bisexual bone in your body. Not to mention that most men that seemed interested were, well, slimy. So you had given up the ghost and thrown yourself at work. Now here you were walking down the hallway to get picked up by a man. Not just any man either, Walton Goggins, a man that could pull anyone and he had certainly pulled you. It felt a little surreal and frightening.
You stop at the door and try to still your mind. Then you push through and he is parked right outside. Leaning against his vehicle like he doesn't have care in the world. He's wearing a loose-fitting navy shirt, several buttons undone at the collar, with black pants, sunglasses, and a hat. Walton’s face breaks into a crooked grin when he sees you, his body unfurling as you come closer. You'd be lying if you didn't want to find out what was under that shirt.
“Well, aren't you looking good?” He says licking his lips and watching you come towards the vehicle.
You blush as you meet his shade covered eyes. “Not too bad yourself.”
He chuckles, and opens the door, “After you, m’lady” 
The drive is relatively short, being later in the evening meant that most traffic was gone. You both chat about the week, minor set annoyances, and future plans. Walton’s hand never leaves yours, his eyes occasionally glancing over at you. If he had asked you to just drive around you would have agreed. Walton parks the car in the parkade, and the two of you get out. He laces his fingers in yours as you walk down the sidewalk. 
The sushi place is tucked back off the main street in an old historical building. The sign is worn and the door hasn’t been painted in years. It was going to be good food. The server places you both in a booth in the back corner of a relatively empty space. The lights are dim and it feels cozy. You two sit beside each other and look over the menu. 
“Have you ever had Takoyak?” He asks, pointing at some deep-fried balls on the menu.  
“No, I haven’t. They are squid right?” You ask.
“Yes, they are delicious. I would recommend them, oh and okonomiyaki.” The fact that he can pronounce half of the words is impressive. 
“Do you want to share a few things?” 
“I think that is a marvelous idea.” 
The two of you order a table full of various goodies and some Saki. You share them and talk about the different foods you’ve tried. You remember vaguely the discussion you had a month ago, and he fills in on some of the more foggy details. You have no idea how long the two of you had sat there, most of the food has disappeared and you’ve found yourself thigh to thigh with the man. You lean back and hum, feeling slightly overstuffed and most definitely sleepy. 
“You worn out?” He says, his hand tracing patterns on your knee.
“Mmm, a little bit,” You lean your head against his shoulder, he’s warm and you can’t help how comfortable you feel. 
“Why don’t we get out of here?” He says quietly kissing the top of your head.
You nodded in agreement, really you’d go anywhere he’d want to go.
Outside the cool night has settled in, and you shiver slightly, tucking yourself into your jacket. Walton grabs your hand and leads you down the way. Around the corner, there is a little path that leads down to the ocean. Once there you both stumble down the sand until you find some driftwood to sit on. Looking back toward the lights of downtown. 
“The city is so beautiful at night,” He says, hands still holding yours.”All the lights reflect off the mountains and the seas. Looks like a painting.”
You wiggle yourself down the piece of wood so you’re resting against him, Watching his eyes sparkle as he looks at the light. Walton turns to you, watching your face, eyes going down to your lips before back up to your eyes. 
You take the hint and lean into him, finally, kissing him. It feels like it’s taken so long to get here, your heart is racing and you can’t help but let yourself linger. He pushes back against you, hand coming up to hold your face. It’s over so fast. He pulls back, and you just look at him. Sharp jawline covered in stubble, slanted nose, kiss redden lips, eyes watching you. 
“I want to kiss you again,” He says breathlessly, so you lean in scooting and push up against him, legs slotting between each other. You can taste the sushi and saki. If this damn man pulls away again you are going to lose your mind. But he does, you’re both breathless like two teenagers. 
“It’s been a lovely night,’ He hushes his thumbs brushing over your cheeks. “I wish I could stay out here with you all night.”
You smile at him snuggling closer. The two of you wrapped around each other watching the night sky. Large freight ships move in and out of the harbor, cars drive past, and other couples wander by. It’s peaceful in its own way, just the two of you holding hands and stealing kisses. You want to ask him to go back to his place. Wanting to make the first move, but you hold off.  Taking things slow, and steady. It was after all your first date.

I wanna theorise the Ghost Gang's ages

I think it's widely accepted that the Ghost Gang are believed to be kids, or at least the same age as the Pac trio. Their exact ages are never mentioned of course, but it has never really been brought into questioning either.
It's often a point of interest when fans talk about the Pacworld Wars or the Repository - either that Betrayus was cruel enough to enrol children to fight in his army, or that Stratos/The Freedom Fighters were cruel for supposedly allowing children to be sent to the Nether.
I've thought about this a few times, also as someone who saw the Ghost Gang as teens, but recently I've looked a bit more closely at the semantics of it all, and it's led me to this one big question:
Why are we assuming that the Ghost Gang ARE children?
Don't get me wrong, we have good reasons to believe they are.
They sound young
They often display childish or immature behaviour
They're familiar enough with the Pac trio to get along in ways that teenage friends would
Pinky has a crush on Pac, so we assume that they are both at least the same age...unless Pinky is a closet cougar.
But when you think about it, these traits can sometimes carry over into adulthood and do not always indicate child-like or teenage behaviour.
I've thought more on the matter, and I've come to realise that we also have a few reasons to believe that the Ghost Gang are in fact adults, or at least young adults.
Blinky is a Pac-Fu Master. The art of Pac-Fu is considered a powerful form of martial arts, supposedly more powerful than Kung Fu, and thus would take years to master. I highly doubt that a child would be able to reach Pac-Fu Mastery before becoming an adult, unless its a child prodigy. I think its safe to assume that Blinky spent several years mastering the art in order for him to reach Master level, so it makes more sense for him to be an adult. A young adult, at the very least.
Clyde speaks 9 languages. For a person to learn new languages, they have to reach an age of proficient academic understanding and dedicate some years to be able to speak multiple languages. According to google, it takes 2-3 years to become fluent in a new language. Multiply that with Clyde's languages, and he must be at least 27 years old. A loophole to this theory would be if Clyde learned all of his new languages in the Netherworld after he became a ghost.
Perhaps a gray area, but Pinky did allude to having a very busy social life. This could mean many things; either she's a teen who just likes to socialise or she's a young adult that likes to socialise. Leaning a bit more towards the latter, it could be that she's independent/old enough to make her own choices regarding dating and maintaining her busy social life (even though she spends most of her time with the boys).
A bit of a messy point, but it doesn't make a lot of sense for the Freedom Fighters to deliberately allow children to be turned into ghosts. These guys fought for freedom against Betrayus' war and tyranny, and good people like Zac, Sunny, Sir C, Spheria, etc were all part of the side that fought against Betrayus. Compare the Freedom Fighters with Betrayus and his army, and it's more likely that the Freedom Fighters would've opposed sending children to the Nether. So how did the Ghost Gang end up bodystripped? Probably because they weren't children, but were old enough to join Betrayus' army and thus face the consequences of such a choice. This makes it all the more likely that the Ghost Gang are young adults, between the ages of 18-30.
In the real world, some countries allow citizens to become part of the army as early as the age of 16. If we apply this to Pacworld, then we can stretch the perimeters a bit and speculate that the Ghost Gang are between the ages of 16-30. It would definitely make more sense in Inky and Pinky's case, who seem to act the youngest/least mature out of the four.
The Pacworld Wars and the politics surrounding who got bodystripped, and the bodystripping/soul-extraction matter itself, is quite the can of worms. For me, knowing all that we know, it would make more sense for the Ghost Gang to be young adults. They would be within the age of enforced enrollment in Betrayus' military, and that subsequently puts them in the same category of soldiers to be bodystripped.
What do you guys think? Am I reaching too far with this theory? xD
With all that being said, here is a ROUGH estimate on how I hc the Ghost Gang's ages to be, slightly tweaked from my previous guesses:
Blinky - 23
Pinky - 16
Inky - 18
Clyde - 27
Again, this is just a theory! If the Ghost Gang are legit teens, then they're teens I guess. This is just me trying to plug in the holes in the story for why children were fighting in the war in the first place - and send to the Nether in the first place.

I genuinely believe that this whole discourse AMONG THE FANS about q!Sunny and q!Philza is just a simple case of bad miscommunication. Both in role-play and out of role-play. Something cc!Phil AND q!Philza alway establish is that the museum is an area that is outside of role-play. Sometimes he does bend that rule, however, majority of the time most conversations in there he doesn’t take seriously. However, the admin for q!Sunny chose to make that conversation about q!Tallulah cannon which there is absolutely nothing wrong in doing so. As a matter fact, I feel this is a very great story opportunity for an egg to have some slight tension towards another parent and am curious to see where this goes.
I can’t stress enough that what q!Sunny is feeling is absolutely valid for their character. Obviously an adult making light of very serious topics when their parent happens to leave is scary. It’s even more scary knowing that q!Sunny’s admin plays her as somewhat younger than the other eggs (at least that is what I have been learning). Of course she’s not gonna see q!Philza in a good light. And that’s fine.
The problem that many q!Philza viewers are getting annoyed by, including myself, is the constant mischaracterization and just plain villainizing of q!Philza by the fanbase .
No. He doesn’t dislike q!Sunny. He thinks she’s cool and often encourages q!Tallulah to get to know her!
No. He’s not resentful of her and taking his frustrations out on her. I genuinely don’t know how this idea came about.
It makes sense for q!Tubbo viewers to assume things about q!Philza based on just cc!Tubbo’s pov alone. They don’t know his character that well unless they watch him. It also makes sense that from q!Tubbo’s and q!Sunny’s pov, q!Philza is kinda rude and insensitive.
On that same thought, it makes sense for q!Philza to genuinely be unaware that his words and tone are scary/mean to both q!Tubbo and q!Sunny. He doesn’t know.
Two things can be true at once.
Just like people are allowed to dislike a character and their actions just as much as people are allowed to defend a character.
The whole thing about q!Philza’s tone is another can of worms entirely. Cc!Phil is quite literally a blunt, no bullshit type of guy. That’s literally how he is with EVERYONE, eggs included. But once again, q!Sunny is valid in feeling scared and a little put off by it.
This goes for both sides in saying that they just don’t know each other that well to read/understand each other. That’s why it’s so important that q!Sunny and/or q!Tubbo COMMUNICATE their feelings. Otherwise how is q!Philza supposed to know?
As a cc!Phil viewer, it really sucks seeing so many people paint q!Philza as this malicious figure that is INTENTIONALLY trying to bully an insecure child when that just isn’t the case. Could he have worded things better? Of course. Does that mean he was trying to make q!Sunny feel bad? No. Once again, it’s just bad miscommunication. Something that can easily be cleared up by both adults talking.
It’s also crazy to me that this got blown all out of proportion based on 1 damn sign talking about his tone.
Either way, you can like/dislike whoever you want. Just remember that it’s not always black and white.

obligatory disclaimer to all the "its just mc eggs its not that deep" people that this is about characters. we are allowed to post character analysis, even ones that arent positive, about fictional characters no matter what medium theyre from. this is 10000% about the characters, not the admins and there are moments i may not know about since i cant watch every pov but heres my thoughts on the sunny/leo "beef"
which it feels wrong, at this point, to even call it beef when its mostly one sided on leo's part and the adults are failing both sunny and leo
does leo have the right to be wary about the new eggs? 100%, absolutely
does that excuse her recent treatment of sunny? no
is leo to blame for her behavior? well, no, she's a child
do i think q!foolish and q!tubbo are good fathers? yes
did they both drop the ball in regards to this situation and should have handled it better? yes, but that doesnt mean its not too late now
again, i dont fault leo for being distrustful and cautious of the new eggs, its more than reasonable given what shes gone through. im glad she's warmed up to pepito and i think it's a good choice on foolish's part to not force her to interact with anyone she doesnt like while still encouraging her to try. that being said, i think he should say something to leo about how she has recently been treating sunny because it is quickly getting to the point where it is bullying, not "beef"
to be fair, maybe he hasnt seen [in character/roleplay] the extent to which she has treated sunny, and obviously none of the parents are aware of the baby fight club, but even then, someone should say something to leo if they see behavior similar to how leo treated sunny after the fight [although i believe foolish and roier are two of the only people she will actually listen to /neu] with that being said, i dont think foolish takes it very seriously and at the end day has a rather "well what can you do" type of mentality about it.
we know that leo is stubborn and can be a little hard headed, which is one of the reasons why i personally love her, but its been toeing the line in regards to sunny and i feel as though she crossed it during the baby fight club. sunny has been trying to take leo's feelings into consideration [among other eggs, such as tallulah, who excuse it as distrust of the new eggs despite being warm/neutral to both em and pepito while being harsher to sunny].
the fact that the fight ended and sunny was trying to leave when leo blocked the exit and continued to hit sunny shows that her feelings towards sunny are more than just apprehension. even ramon, leo's triplet, felt the need to step to in and separate them out of concern for sunny's well being.
i can also see the nuance of leo's behavior: its the first time where she has disliked someone and been forced to be in close vicinity/interact with them, and no one has taught her that this sort of behavior isnt ok so how is she supposed to know better?
its not an excuse by any means, but it doesnt make it any less bullying than it is. this is where the adults are failing not just sunny [by being bystanders] but theyre failing leo, too.
and sure, disagreements and fights between the eggs is interesting.. when it comes from both parties but when you have one egg--one child--who doesnt want to be around another egg child in consideration of their feelings while the other egg child vandalizes their things and hits them to the point of almost being downed--that's not a disagreement. thats bullying.
does leo have to like sunny? no
do i think that they have more in common and similar feelings of loneliness that they both dont realize, which could make way for a friendship? yes
would i mind if leo never warms up to sunny? no
its realistic. sometimes kids just.. dont get along and thats ok, its good to teach children that we arent going to get along with everyone or even like them [and not everyone is going to like us and we shouldnt try to force them to], but its also important to teach children that not liking somebody doesnt make it okay to treat them poorly or bully them.
in fact, this would be a really good situation in which both leo and sunny can learn the aforementioned, especially since their fathers are good friends that enjoy one another's company so i dont see them stopping hangouts anytime soon so leo and sunny will hopefully learn to, at the very least, be civil with one another. i hope this is the direction the story goes because a bully arc is one of the last things i personally want to watch
i understand its hard, especially when their first languages are not one that they share, but thats what the qsmp is all about, isnt it? coming together in spite of language barriers
im hoping the sunny/leo situation takes a turn for the better, even if it takes time to get to a point where they are mostly indifferent to one another w/o excessive antagonizing
with all that said, i will always have faith in the admins to give us their best, even if the outcome isnt what we wanted or expected
