Mt Rundle Sunrise
flickr
Mt Rundle Sunrise by `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ Via Flickr: This mountain is probably by far the most photographed inside Banff National Park and as you can see it's for a good reason! Being up here for almost a week, I can tell you that it definitely takes quite some hard work and lots of luck to get good photos. We mostly have sunny days, the type with not a single cloud in the sky. There's always some wind, too, making it near impossible to see any reflection in the lakes. That very morning (our 4th inside the park), I was rewarded for the first time with the right amount of clouds, color intensity, and near windlessness. It was so cold (~32F), though, but I was well prepared with a merino wool hat plus my down jacket's hood, 4 layers on top and 2 layers on bottom. However, there's no way to cover my fingers and at times I just couldn't feel them. There was no one around besides me in that section of Vermilion Lake that morning, but further down the road there were quite a few photogs clicking away. One was there throughout the night taking timelapse photos; another one (my new friend) was there until 2am to capture the Milky Way and returned before 5am. My new friend is a gifted and hardworking photog, his dedication is most admirable! (He's not on Flickr but on 1x.com.) It took me over half an hour to shake off the chills in my bones afterward, but looking at the images I captured, I found my "pain (cold) and suffering (lack of sleep)" so worth it. So far we only explored the southern section of Banff National Park. The more we go north, the less cell reception we will get. Currently we are back in Calgary to restock our food suppl. it's a beautiful city 80 miles east of Banff. I'm sorry I can't get to view your photos these days, may you continue to be blessed with good health and company! Thank you for your visit, my dear Flickr friends!

Out Of This World por `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ Por Flickr: Alien Throne, located in Valley of Dreams, is a hoodoo formed by erosive forces like wind, rain, and flowing water beating away at stacked layers of soft and hard rock. The softer layers wear down relatively quickly, while the harder layers resist for longer, and it ends up with such a unique appearance. Getting to the Valley of Dreams, and thus Alien Throne, is not easy. It’s in a remote wilderness area with no roads, no signs, and no official trails. Google Map failed to take us to the trailhead, as we gave up hope and turned around, we were then lucky to bump into a photographer whom we had met the evening before. He so happened was heading out that way for sunset & sunrise photoshoots. We followed him through some serious bumpy and sandy off-road trails, where a 4x4 and high clearance vehicle was a must. (GPS is not the exact location.) Thank you for your visit, wishing you a happy day ahead! PS: I'm on a month-long road trip, will catch up with you when I have time, energy and a fast internet!😊

Mars On Earth por `*⊹ ᑭɧყƖƖıʂ •٭ Por Flickr: Stone Wings, aka Flying Wings or Three Wings, are located in Bisti Badlands. Other than the Eggs, the Stone Wings are probably Bisti's most famous photo op. The middle wing is also an arch, called Klingon Bird of Prey Arch. The Bisti Badlands, NM, is one of the most unique places we have ever visited and definitely one of coolest places that not many people have ever heard of. "At one time, this 45,000-acre swath of desert was completely submerged by a sea during the Cretaceous Period. As the water receded, layers of sandstone, mudstone, shale and other sedimentary rocks were revealed, creating the Kirtland Formation, only to be carved out by braided streams that flowed through the landscape. The result is today’s dry, eerie badlands, which contain some of the most amazing sandstone rock formations on Planet Earth." ...Smithsonian Magazine We went there for sunset and saw quite a few of what looked to be mountain lions fresh footprints on the trails. Eek! (GPS is not the exact location) Thank you for your visit, wishing you a pleasant day/night! 💕🌹
