So I've been thinking about the animal Desmond posts again, and I just thought, mainly from the fact Ezio is a 'noble', how would a Desmond Peacock work out? Because if there's one thing a lot of people get now days when they have a lot of money, it's fancy ass peacocks that are annoying as hell, screeching all day. And like, Ezio's dad and brothers can't get arrested if they can't get past the courtyard gate because of the huge, fancy, chicken, right?

And Desmond's main attacks are to screech and to grab anything he can with his beak, making this Assassin's Creed version of...

Just... imagine Untitled Goose Game but with a Peacock and the objective is to keep the soldiers occupied while the Auditores leave using the back door.

And then the end of it would be Desmond getting hurt by the guards (those assholes) and getting all the care and love from the Auditores for saving their lives.

I'm sorry this is so horrifically long, but you ended up asking about one of my longest and long-standing projects! And please feel free to send as many asks as you like!

I don't even remember what I saw that reminded me of the concept of a Soulmate Goose (AO3 tag: "Alternate Universe - The Soulmate Goose of Enforcement"), wherein the premise is: one day, you wake up with a goose sitting on you and it leads you in some way or another to your soulmate, shenanigans ensue (it's often paired with the tag "Goose-typical violence"), and then you say oh and kiss and/or complete whatever other romantic rituals the author deems necessary, the goose disappears, and presumably, you continue to kiss and hold hands for eternity or whatever.

At around the same time, a friend informed me that Cody calls Anakin almost exclusively by his first name in the books and comics and the sheer disrespect necessary for that to happen absolutely killed me. I did not and will not be doing a fact-check because I believe we need whatever droplets of joy we can wring from this wretched washcloth of a timeline.

Looking at the dates, I'd just published my first Clone Wars fic and discovered two things in the process: 1) I needed to write more clone relationships immediately; 2) Cody's a right bastard.

Naturally, I decided it would be hilarious for Cody to get his goose and for it to run directly for Rex…only to be intercepted by one Anakin Skywalker. Anakin is, of course, enthralled with the idea of true love and building a home and a sense of belonging.

Cody would rather put own his eyes out with a spork. Hijinks ensue.

I started writing from Cody's perspective and got pretty well into it before I realized that in order for this rom-com scenario to work he'd have to: 1) realize that Rex likes him very much, 2) realize that, he, too likes Rex as a human person. At this point in the story they'd been fucking for months. Cody has been extremely chill and very relaxed about Rex in the CC groupchat. There was a whole thing with a grenade and a compass.

So I had to start over with someone who both had at least 50% of this mission-critical information, or at least the ability to stop playing 5D asshole chess with himself to figure it out, and also didn't make me want to do a little recreational enucleation.

Sorry, Rex.

A couple other fun facts:

The goose is a manifestation of the Living Force and therefore cannot die. Cody discovers this and starts sending GT-0101 on air reconnaissance missions.

The goose will not be paid in kisses or revelations. The goose demands blood. The goose will only accept human sacrifice; that is, total emotional honesty and nothing less.

(Does Cody just end up dying with the goose still next to him? Who can say.)

What this means is that you could fuck in front of the goose all the livelong day and it would remain, with its beady eyes and horrible beak teeth.

Cody is the first clone to get a goose. Make of that what you will.

If anyone is up to the task of—er—wooing Cody, it’s Anakin, I suppose.” They look over to where Cody and Skywalker are engaged in a ferocious tug-of-war over the goose. Skywalker seems to have clasped Cody’s hands over his death grip on the bird, and Rex can practically smell the yearning as his general makes aggressively optimistic eye contact. Cody doesn’t break his glare because he’s always been braver than Rex. “Skywalker,” he says. “Don’t make me take your other hand.” Rex turns back to General Kenobi. “You want to put credits on that, sir?” “The Force works in mysterious ways,” Kenobi says, much too cheerful, and gives Rex a side hug, something he has never done before in his life. Everyone is being extremely normal about this.

Another Yuletide fic exchange has come and gone, and now it's time for the reveals post.

First: my wonderful gift. It's the Christmas special The Bear deserves; funny, moving, sharply observed. It is, as Sydney Adamu would say, fire.

Sunday Special Author: LearnedFoot Fandom: The Bear (TV 2022) Details: Rated T, Gen, 2073 words Tags: Sydney Adamu, Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto, Richard "Richie" Jerimovich, other characters make appearances too, Friendship, Found Family, Christmas, Post-Canon Summary: The Bear stays open for Christmas.

Second: my recs list for Yuletide 2022, a work in progress. It's an eclectic bunch of stuff right now, including Stand By Me, Piranesi, 17776, Ask a Manager, and more.

Below the Waves for rueckenfigur Fandom: Polar Explorer RPF Details: Rated G, Gen, 1813 words Tags: Francis Crozier, HMS Terror, Historical, Sailing, Franklin Expedition, Ross Expedition, POV Inanimate Object Summary: "A ship can have favourites; sailors know this in their bones. And Crozier—quiet, steady, respectful—was hers." Notes: This isn't a Terror fic per se, but I'd be lying if I said it wasn't heavily influenced by that show. I mean, I went and stuck a quotation from the show in the epigraph, and Lt. Little in this story maybe owes something to Matthew McNulty's portrayal in the show. In any case, my recipient had asked for a story about Francis Rawdon Moira Crozier, and after a speed-run through assorted works of nonfiction, this is where I ended up, telling his story from the point of view of his ship, HMS Terror, who still dreams of him as she lies 21 metres below the surface of Terror Bay. The title is from Heidi Berry's song of the same name, and the mood of the story is basically that song as well.

Bell, Book, and Candle for BeccaLee Fandom: Control (Video Game) x Piranesi - Susanna Clarke Details: Rated G, Gen, 1533 words Tags: Emily Pope, Original Characters, Crossover, Crossovers & Fandom Fusions, Found Documents, case files Summary: Correspondence relating to OOP27-UE. Notes: I wasn't sure if I was going to manage to write anything other than my assignment this year, but I'd been listening to the audiobook of Piranesi while doing some long pre-holiday drives. So I went poking around the prompts and found that BeccaLee had requested both Piranesi and Control. I did very much like the idea of mashing up the House and the Oldest House, and also the idea of there being other Oldest Houses. There's not really a plot here per se; it's more of a vibe, and in particular the shared vibe of both canons that suggests something Larger and More Powerful At Work. And of course the characters from the world of Control would see Piranesi's House as something creepy at best, and outright dangerous at worst.

The Cunning of the Goose is Immeasurable; Its Mischief Infinite for Lielac Fandom: Untitled Goose Game x Piranesi - Susanna Clarke Details: Rated G, Gen, 1133 words Tags: Piranesi | Matthew Rose Sorensen, The Other | Valentine Andrew Ketterley, Goose (Untitled Goose Game), Crossover, Crossovers & Fandom Fusions, Prequel Summary: Entries for the Fourth Month in the Year the Albatross Came to the South-Western Halls. Notes: Lielac had requested Untitled Goose Game fic and their prompt offered a blank cheque for crossing the game over with literally anything. And, again, since I had Piranesi very much on the brain, I thought, well, why not have the Goose pay a visit to the House? What if the Goose is an agent of mischief and chaos that transcends space and time? Once the idea formed, the story practically wrote itself. I also constructed it such that it is set a month before the beginning of the novel, which averts spoilers of any significance. I'm tempted to expand on it—probably the only reason it's not longer is that I literally wrote it two days before the collection went live, and I wanted to get it done. But really both Piranesi and the Goose deserve more shenanigans together before the Goose buggers off to wherever it came from.

FL4K had just departed the spaceship when the goose made itself known.

The trip to Pandora had been dull, and they were eager to disembark and begin hunting for the Crimson Raider recruitment center. According to one of the crew, the small town was only a few miles from the landing site. FL4K had anticipated the journey to be half a day’s travel at most.

They had not anticipated to be greeted by a goose upon their arrival.

The loud, sudden honk caused FL4K and the other exiting passengers to stop and look around warily. Standing before them was a large, white-feathered bird that had been conspicuously absent seconds ago. At this close distance, the serrated edges of its orange beak are easily visible. This species is familiar to FL4K, which makes its presence on the gangplank all the more confusing.

“Geese are not native to Pandora,” they observed.

The woman behind FL4K twisted the ring on her left hand nervously. “That’s a soulmate goose. They go wherever they want.”

Hi! Could I request a twisted wonderland fic/headcannon with Idia, Malleus, Rook, Azul, Jade, and Floyd reaction when mc/Yuu/reader turns into a goose? I was thinking something like mc/Yuu turned into a goose from a potion class accident, and they act like the goose from Untitled Goose Game, but cuddlier. Like they are still a little menace, but also want to be pet and cuddled.

- When you feel sleepy you sit on his lap, and when you shake your head before sleeping he has a whole heart attack right then and there, and when I say heart attack I'm not exaggerating, he may have a stoic face and not react as much to things but when it comes to you it's different.

- He has you sitting on his head his horns acting as a support so you won't fall of his head while Sebek is throwing a temper tantrum as Silver tries to calm im down while Lilia is cooing and gushing about you guys saying how it you guys are together while taking pictures and Malleus is just standing there like that standing man emoji while you on top of his head is just watching all of this shit go down as you try not to laugh.

- Once Rook finds out you turned into a goose he's swooping in to get you and once you guys are alone he starts spewing all his fancy french words to you, that you dont even understand.

- He brings you to Pomfiore and gets students there to treat you like royalty but honestly your not complaining at all like free food? Count me in! Wouldn't wanna miss free food.

- I feel like he would get blush and put it on you, then would go on to give you instructions on what to do so he could take pictures and post on magicam, he literally acts as Cater for a day before having to find a position to turn out back.

- Once he finds the potion he's a bit sad you can't stay a goose forever but he's happy your out of the form cause now he can kiss you all he likes.

- Jade look down at you as you look back up at him, you get scared of his stare thinking he was planning on eating you and putting on the menu of Octavinelle but he picks you up and tries to feed you a mushroom.

- Ok but seriously though I feel like he would try to put you in babys clothing I don't know just a hunch. Or he would just put u in a pond and watch you swim around it's a bit stressful for you since your literally being watched while swimming.

- But in the end he finds the potion to turn you back into your human self

- Floyd is chaotic wish the bed of luck to you cause bro will give you the most tight crushing hug he's ever given you while you make goose noises struggling to breath and he lets go laughing really hard as you run your little goose legs away from him.(You don't make it far before you her steps getting closer and being picked up to eye level with Floyd)

- When he gets bored he closes your break with his hand and you try to escape but then his other hand holds you down and you just sit there so done with life.

- He definitely is to lazy to find a potion for you so he makes Azul and Jade do the work, and once your back to our human self he give you a bone crushing hug again and laughs manically but it's ok you love him either way.
