Hi Anon! Firstly, I’ve decided to move away from Viv and her toxic fandom so apologies if this response is late. I must say it is interesting that you’ve lurked so long to do this, and anonymously too.

Angel sexually harasses Husk. Husk sung a song that compares his situation (involving no SA from Alastor) to Angels and calls him a loser and whiny bitch. That’s pretty invalidating to one’s experiences as well as making it all about himself because he’s miserable and unable to deal with it healthily outside of alcohol.

Before you tell me that I’m “misunderstanding” the lyrics like a great deal of rabid fans, let’s just say personal experience gives me great insight to how nasty this comes across. Not to mention no actual build up for the relationship, the points I made about Pilot and IG, etc etc.

I don’t know if you’re one of HunterGirl’s little groupies, if you are, don’t you find it unprofessional that staff allow such toxicity within their fans? Rhetorical. Regardless, it is toxic. It’s poorly written. And that extends to the entirety of Hazbin, Helluva, and Spindle itself plus its community.

So briefly, I was never wrong about the toxicity. If you feel differently, that’s your opinion. But to lurk until this moment to strike, anonymously, is intriguing. Especially since this blog is hardly used.

Regardless, you’re fully entitled to your opinions and feelings, as am I. You’re free to enjoy the show, and hopefully you are enjoying the show. I hope it lives up to your expectations. I hope you have fun. And I do encourage healthier behaviours. We’re polarised. Why should you care about what I have to say - even with personal experiences - if you disagree and wish to indulge? Enjoy yourself and your life. Continue to hold your opinion. I won’t change your mind and you won’t change mine. Maybe this is to “rub it in” but I don’t take it as such. I do recommend a better focus. One that is healthier to you. I’ve drowned in enough of the vitriol Viv and her influence rot. It serves my health no good and she’ll reap as we all do. I suggest you do the same. If you enjoy it, and don’t find it toxic, then relish as long as you don’t behave like a prick. To me, it’s toxic, so I embrace healthier habits. I live my life.

I know this is a massive tangent, but what I’m trying to get across - outside of the question itself - is better influence. The least I can do is present to you good self care. If you enjoy it, enjoy it and stick with those who do. For myself and others who’ve been through trauma, that episode was extremely distasteful (though some felt seen and I will not take from that). So… I simply keep a healthy distance from her shit now. I’ve seen the fandom be the most vile, subtly enticed by the staff. The least I can do is encourage better habits to counter how despicable people have been encouraged to act.

TLDR; I disagree, agree to disagree, please don’t pick up toxicity from the fandom. None of this is sarcasm.

I dislike how John is portrayed in BBC Sherlock & now in the Sherlock & Co podcast (altho the latter gets a pass). Even before the terrible S4 portrayal of him, his character was never done to justice - he was a soldier and army doctor for God's sake! He must be v smart in his own right. Then we never got to explore his backstory, navigate the complexity of his PTSD and trauma, etc. I get that Sherlock is the main character but there wouldn't be the Adventures of SH without John's skills!

I'm sorry that modern Johns don't seem to compare to ACD John for ya, and that's fair. It's all subjective.

I don't really have a dog in this race since I've not listened to Sherlock and Co so I'm not sure of his portrayal. However, I adore BBC John except for the character assassination of him in S4, and I personally thought he was well-adapted for modern-day, complex, and amazingly portrayed by Martin. But again I'm biased towards BBC Sherlock.

I would have loved if BBC Sherlock explored more of John as well, I can agree with you on that for sure, and they did him SO DIRTY in S4, so it's great that we have fandom that can do that! <3

I’m starting to write my own Butchlander fic but I’m stuck on what they should call each other. Different fics seems to do it differently and sometimes within one fic there’s different names. What is considered correct?

Uh, well I’m not sure I’m aware of any ‘correct’ way to do it. They don’t converse enough in canon so you can extrapolate however you wish. For me personally… it heavily depends on the POV.

Billy’s going to be “Butcher” in his own mind, but “William” in HL’s. Unless and until they’ve gotten so familiar that he switches over to “Billy” (and Billy’s probably not going to be enthused about that kind of familiarity, because his family and Becca are the only people we see use it).

I think HL is going to be Homelander in both of their minds, but Billy will avoid calling him that because to him it’s a gross word, forever tied to Vought and generally unpleasant memories, and using it gives it legitimacy. So he’ll deploy ‘cunt’ or ‘supe cunt’ if they’re on bad terms, resort to John or Johnny to get on his nerves (and HL’s reaction to this can range from indifference to irritation that someone is resurrecting his lab name), ‘mate’ if he’s standoffish, and then ‘love’ is used sarcastically until it isn’t.

But there are many other ways to approach it. I’ve seen Billy call him ‘Homie’ in fics, which is pretty cute. HL calling Billy William at every turn and level of intimacy is also fun. Just don’t call HL Gillman unless you really love the comics. That wiki page for the TV show is a mess. Call them whatever you want! Hope to see your fic soon! 🥰

smosh should stop making the agree to disagree vids (or lock the comments on those vids but obviously that defeats the purpose of the videos) because apparently people in youtube comments decide that the cast’s responses to stuff is grounds to psychoanalyse and condemn them based on what we see in youtube videos.

there’s plenty of shit i agree with people on, plenty of shit i don’t. but i’m not gonna act like i know how everyone is as a person based on all of it when i’ve never met them personally and haven’t personally interacted with them.

Glass Onion and Mona Lisa

My friend and I disagree on this, but for them the Mona Lisa was real, and the consequences are ridiculous for Miles. I like this but I prefer:

The Mona Lisa is fake, Miles is just too stupid to know. The French Government had copies made for dumbass rich people to rent, and it's probably in the small print that it's not the real Mona Lisa. That way, when he has to report that his fuel exploded and he circumvented the security, he is still contractually obligated to pay for everything, and he goes down as an even bigger dumbass.

My friend thinks there's more cultural weight and significance if the real one is burned, I think it's more karmatically humorous if it's fake.
