It is said that the sins of the father should not be cast upon the son. Unfortunately, a father's miscalculated bargain can still come back to haunt you—Arthur is twenty-one, has a kingdom to rule, and apparently, a magically binding marriage contract with the Prince of Escetir. Prince Merlin, who has magic, a dragon, great dislike for Arthur, and still no intention to back out of the contract.

The worst part is, to a degree, Arthur understands—as a sorcerer, he wouldn't trust Uther Pendragon's son either. So he simply has to convince Merlin that he can be trusted, and the contract can be broken while they secure peace between Camelot and Escetir. It's a good plan.

Right up until forces conspire against both their kingdoms, more secrets come to light, and Arthur starts coughing up flowers.

Though Arthur hadn’t felt it, time had passed while he’d been with the Sidhe after Camlaan. When he returned to Camelot, fully healed and with Merlin at his side, it was to find Gwen remarried and with a family. He grieved but stepped aside, only wanting his one-time queen and love to be happy. Several years later, he and Merlin are bespelled by a dying witch, who insists they are both fools. They soon learn that if they don’t kiss every few hours, they are stricken with a severe illness. Knowing it will put the crown at risk, they keep it secret from all but a select few and quietly adjust their lives around it. Soon it becomes apparent that there is only one cure for the spell, but Arthur has long since come to terms with his unrequited love for his manservant and is afraid of all that will change if they go through with it.

And another month goes by!

In March, we received 45 fantastic fills from 23 wonderful participants, 36 of which will be listed below the cut! We've got 27 fics, four artworks, three fic + artwork combos, one fic + moodboard combo, and one lovely gif!

Since peach is still pretending people are interested in the stats part of the monthly round up, she's going to prattle on a little longer about ships. Gen/no ships came out top again this month with 16 works, while Merlin/Arthur came in second with 14. Merlin/Gwaine is third with two fills, and then we've got Gwen/Morgana, Merlin/Will and Lancelot/Will all with one.

(Another fun stat for you - there are only six works for Lancelot/Will on ao3, and a third of them are bingo fills!)

WIP Snippet: Untitled Pureblood ABO

James Potter freezes at the sound of glass shattering on the stone floor of the Great Hall. He jerks around as quiet falls over the previously clamoring students. The room is rarely anything but loud; the fact that silence has fallen across the table in waves means this isn’t a casual error. Someone didn’t just accidentally knock over a crystal goblet.

The Ravenclaws are craning their necks at the Slytherin table, which is all the information he needs. They rarely act like rubberneckers, for all that they’re inherently nosy and wanting to know everything about everything and everyone.

Seriously, is there anything more nosy than a Ravenclaw looking for information or gossip or the like?

It’s the stunned look on the Slytherins’ faces that really gets to James, though. He hasn’t seen that many purebloods so visibly stunned in his entire life. Each and every one of them are staring at Master Omega Regulus Black.

Regulus Black is the highest ranked Omega in the school. He’s assumed to be the highest ranked Omega in Avalon, but James knows that isn’t true. Because, if it were, James would know. After all, James Potter is descended from Arthur Pendragon himself. Has been named by Mother Magic as the High Alpha King of Avalon.

Still, Regulus’s porcelain skin is even paler than normal. His stormy gray eyes are distant, as if he’s seeing something beyond the walls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry itself. His tousled black curls are a harsh contrast against the paleness of his skin.

Given the attention focused on him, it’s obvious that Regulus is the one who dropped and shattered a goblet. That makes no sense, though. Regulus is especially graceful. James hasn’t ever seen Regulus be clumsy a day in his life. And seeing as Regulus’s older brother is James’s best friend and has been all their lives, he has a plethora of experience and memories to draw on.

Regulus stands with alacrity, his Omega aura spreading out across the Great Hall.

Shock-awe-disbelief-honor-anticipation fills the air.

“What is going on?” Lily Evans asks.

“I’m not sure,” James replies.

Molly aka. Eva Wei (Oban Star Racers) - this precious girl has been one of my favorites since discovering this underrated show. She's got such a great personality, and I love how a show in 2006 really said "we are going to allow this 15 year old girl to be angry, bitter and sad and have the ones responsible for it actually acknowledge their wrongdoings". Absolute gem of a character and story.

Flulu (I Was a Teenage Exocolonist) - as a lot of my newer followers probably know, I absolutely adore Flulu. She works so hard for the colony, all while also trying to take care of Sol to the best of her abilities. I love how, even if you make choices where their relationship isn't the best, you can still tell that she loves them and that everything comes from a place of genuine care.

Arthur Pendragon (Seven Deadly Sins) - my boooooyyyy!!!! Arthur is my absolute SON, and what the author has turned him into is criminal! SDS in general is a big ol' tire fire, but Arthur was the one precious, shining light in the darkness, and I hate what he's become in the sequel. Still love what he used to be, though, and that's the character I cling to.

Su Lüxia (Cheating Men Must Die) - want to see justice done for the characters who suffered, just so the so-called protagonists could have their happy ending? Well, Su Lüxia is here to do just that! She is a Queen and not at all a good person in the traditional sense, but she doesn't need to be. I like Lüxia for the catharsis she brings, whenever the bad people finally get what's coming to them, and for the hints of her true self shining through in those brief moments.

Naven Nuknuk (Epithet Erased) - a mild-mannered little man with a lot of power, who cares for a group of children and probably has a secret agenda? Yes please. I adore characters who are morally grey, but hide their intentions so well, you don't know where you've got them. Add in a soft spot for kids, and I am guaranteed to love them.

Qifrey (Witch Hat Atelier) - a mild-mannered man with a lot of power, who cares for a group of children and definitely has a secret agenda? (Wait... this sounds familiar.) I love Qifrey for all the same reasons, I love Naven, and I'm not afraid to say it. He's also just precious, and I would die for him.

Sidon (Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom/Age of Calamity) - I love Sidon so much, I actually squealed at his re-appearing in TOTK. Anytime I see this man, I smile. He deserves good things, end of story.

Orie Harada (Oli Oli Soup) - Orie is a comfort character to me, living the life I dream of. Working as a bookbinder, and spending her days eating good food and being enthusiastic about it. She's funny, creative, and realistic in all the best ways.

Alpha (Yokohama Shopping Log) - Alpha and her story falls into a similar box as Orie and Oli Oli Soup: a character and story that brings me peace and comfort, even in the quiet melancholy. On every re-read I smile, laugh, and cry with Alpha during her time in a world that's slowly falling apart, but even so life still goes on.

Marak Sixfinger (The Hollow Kingdom) - the ones who know me for my Elsewhere University fanfics are aware, that Foxglove is Jareth's (Jim Henson's Labyrinth) son... but Foxglove himself is actually more inspired by Marak of Clare B. Dunkle's Hollow Kingdom books. He's cunning, he's a smartass, he's every bit the tricky goblin king I adore, with a soft spot for his not-fully-human wife. This guy is 100% why I love Foxglove and writing him so much.
