Crystal gem redesigns. I like to think they started off looking like actual aliens but took on more humanoid forms the more time they spent on Earth. These would be their forms at the beginning of the series. I made Ruby and Sapphire’s designs make more sense as the components of Garnet. I gave everyone ears because I didn’t really understand why they gave the human-looking aliens every human feature except for ears in the series, also because I wanted them to have earrings. Pearls pointed ears are sort of a remnant of her alien look and match with her pointed nose.

She's one of the villagers in Starlights cult village!

She was pretty onboard for the whole "equalization" deal, because despite being a unicorn in a town with the likes of Sunburst and Starlight, her magic is pretty weak. And not an "in-comparison" weak, she can barely lift a single box with telekinesis. So deep down, she enjoyed when everyone's magic was made weak to put them all on equal footing.

When the magic returned, she had a rather hard time adjusting, and ended up leaving the town in order to re-discover herself. The most "advanced" magic she can do is cause flowers to bloom and grow rapidly, and she peddles the flowers she grows to earn train fare to travel Equestria.

opal is a painter to me,, amethyst is rebellious and a bit of a rascal and that paired with pearls orderly bisexual aunt energy screams that their fusion would be really into art, especially stuff like bauhaus or dada idk. this is the aunt who gives you money for weed and shows you her creepy fucked up paintings but they all have deep meanings and helps you interpret art in your own way.

sugilite is a big music fan to me. unstable and evil my fuckin ass this girl is forever taking a smoke break outside the club. she has never been in the club, just hangs around outside to listen to whats playing and talk to people about the better music that shed rather be listening to. this is the aunt who you never expect to see but who gives esoteric sage advice because she thinks its funny to confuse you.
