(it probably wasn't actually Idia's fault)
(or was it)
some quick initial reactions to celebrate Diasomnia Day One! it felt like a bit of a short intro, but oh, what a tasting menu of things to come.

MAWS AU - the Kryptonite sphere does not get brought to Thanksgiving and the ship doesn't activate. All the drama is interpersonal :)
(obviously: set during the Hearts of the Fathers, spoilers ahoy) The kitchen smelled wonderful, the roasting turkey, the  hot honeybutter rolls, James's yams with marshmallows, potatoes with enough herbs for all of scarborough fair.  Martha had prided herself on a  cozy kitchen, a welcoming home.
"What do you mean, an enemy?" Martha Kent interrupted her husband's good natured advice to their son. Her Clark did not call people enemies.  Oh, they'd taught him well, he tried to see the best in people like Jonathan, but he also knew to believe people when they showed him who they were. When he'd come home in second grade with blood on his shirt sleeve from a fight, he'd been honest about it-- bullies. When he'd lost a chess match in the finals to a cheater,  Clark had used words like 'opponent.'
"Um," Clark said. Ma thought about what she'd read in the article, about that Mr. Ivo and his attack on Metropolis.
"Clark. Who's the enemy?"
"I..."
"Ma, really, you don't--"
"I don't what?" she asked. "Clark. What happened?" she reached up to put a hand on his cheek, tilting his face down so she could see him. His eyes had a haunted look in them. Someone had scared her baby.
"I didn't want to worry you," he said. "General Lane..."
"He's not the nicest man," Ma started to say, out of a sense of hospitality. Lois's father was, after all, a guest. "Clark. Is this just that he's made Lois feel bad? Tell me the truth."
"No," Clark said. "I...I didn't know he was her dad. He--"
"What did he do?" Ma said, a chill like the worst of winter icing her words.
"He caught me," Clark said, looking down. Not at her. At his wrists, like he expected something other than skin and shirtsleeves and Jonathan's best cufflinks to be there. "He said I was responsible, all those people who died...that I'm an invader." The words spilled out of her baby's mouth, the same way they had when he'd talked about needing to quit the football team, like his pain wasn't worth anything.
"Oh," Ma said, quietly. "Oh, Clark. Oh, don't you worry, honey. You stay right here. I'll take care of this."
"Martha," Jonathan said warningly, knowing enough about his wife that the turkey was no longer the priority.
Ma ignored him, reaching up on her tiptoes to take down her grandmother's cast iron skillet. It had always served her family well, no matter what purpose it was needed for.. "Jon, you stay with Clark. I'm not having that man eat at our table."
"Ma, no!" Clark protested. The kitchen door started to open.
"Clark. You may have all those powers, but I am your mother. That man tried to kill you." Ma insisted.
"Hey, I'm just grabbing the--what." Jimmy stared. "Uh. Mrs. Kent?"
"James," she said, smiling. " You can take the yams out in a minute, dear. I need to settle something with our intruder."
"Indrude--ma, no!" Clark followed her, his long strides a match for three of hers, but she still reached the living room first.
"Get out of my house," Ma said to the General, interrupting whatever silent, awkward conversation had been happening between him and Lois.
"Excuse me?" he said, standing, automatically shifting his feet. Ma narrowed her eyes. She knew a defensive stance when she saw one.
"Lois, honey, you can stay. But he's not welcome."
"What's going on?" Lois asked. "Clark?" The look on his face caught her breath. "Clark?"
"The General," Clark said, hollowly. "Lois, please tell me you didn't know."
"Know wha--"Lois looked green as she registered the Important Capitals. "Oh, oh my god. Dad. Tell me you didn't."
"Didn't what? Lois, what is this?" The General looked almost bewildered. Ma wasn't sure if it made her angrier that he might be pretending not to know what he'd done, or if he was really so blind that it didn't matter. She was angry all the same. “Tell me you didn’t kidnap and try to murder my boyfriend!” Lois exploded. Ma felt a rush of kinship with the girl. She could stay as long as she liked.
"You're the one who kidnapped Superman? And attacked Cadmus?" Jimmy finally pieced it together.
"How do you know about any of that?" The General asked, eyes still on the threat.
Ma gripped the skillet by the handle, forcing his attention back to her, taking two deliberate steps to place herself between her son and the couch where a monster in uniform -metaphorical uniform, anyways, though not metaphorically a monster-  stood. "General, It’s best you leave now. If you come near any of my children again, so help me, the pigs down at the Anderson's get mighty hungry in winter. Now git."

Long Story
Most of people in the fandom create a new Criminal Case OC for Season 4 by making them an ancestor or ancestress of their main OC, and then there's me who always has Heaven for Season 4 and not an ancestress of her (long story).

What is your take on Kaname and THW ship if it isn't romantic? How does it compare to Yume?
hello i'm glad you asked! i've been thinking about thie series for a while! and to answer it:
(this is my personal take and you can agree to disagree but i will stand by my opinion. if you ship THWxKaname and aren't happy with my answer please just kindly leave my blog without trying to convince me)
i don't think kaname loves THW romantically although they were in romantic relationship. in the sense of... it's clear there's a panel where she kissed him on the lips so their relationship were romantic.
i think they were together because: at that time, both were looking for companion with same goal in mind. their action were quite controversial. so, they did bond overtime.
but he wasn't attracted to her that much. he didn't have the hots for her like he did to yuki. yeah i'm not even joking on this part. haven't we read enough how much kaname yearn for yuki physically? kaname is literally so horny when it comes to yuki. we've seen how they kiss or drink blood.
Tumblr media
(with this description, i'm pretty sure attraction is a big part of relationship for a man like kaname................ god i love him . taken from volume 10 btw)
so THW's kiss with kaname is a pale comparison. in my personal opinion, it's rather one-sided. (THW leaning in for a kiss and kaname's somberly touch her flowing braids... i feel like this could be any woman x kaname if she is the one giving him direction/power/companionship at that time., i think it's expected when two opposite gender that respect and doesn't hate each other spend a lot of time together. he's got his 'he's just a man' moments if you know what i mean when he take blood from ruka)
let's say he had a slight attraction to THW. still, it's already over once she's dead. he also had completely moved on from THW, yuki herself asked if kaname is looking for replacement for her and he said 'no one can be a replacement to anyone'. he didn't lie when he said this. there's literally no need for him to lie. he did regret losing THW but that's it.
(let me add some personal opinions/headcanon : i also don;t think THW and kaname had done anything more than a kiss. i long wondered how did kuran family has descendants if kaname didn't have a child himself back then with THW? if he had one then surely he would had a reason to live , or at least the child will appear in his memory. but, no that just doesn't exist. the more accurate guess would be : perhaps kuran family doesn't consist only ancestor kaname, but he had other siblings/family member who procreated and that is where yuki/rido/juri/haruka came from. the reason why they weren't in picture was because they didn't agree with kaname's goal to live alongside human. so they separated way) (ya know this could be provven wrong in the future VKM chapters as the series is still ongoing but i will stand by my opinion for now as it makes the most sense. if you think about it, someday ai's descendant will call rido as 'kuran ancestor' too.)
rather than in love, it's more appropriate to say kaname is still in the same page with THW when it comes to problem solving. because, they were doing the same quest together. and he actually agree that her plans to kill are purebloods and her decision to sacrifice herself were GOOD SOLUTIONS. when all plans failed, he remembered he could use her solutions.
this is the space where Yuki came in too late to save Kaname. it's not entirely Yuki's fault because Kaname deliberately keeps Yuki away from this problem because he knew how she'd sacrifice herself for him and he don't want that.
when it comes to yume, eventhough kaname sees yuuki as his lover and beloved, he was unable to see her as his equal. perhaps it's due to big age gap between them. therefore, kaname already has this mindset that decide yuki can't handle this much of a problem. and even if she can, he wouldn't let such a baby get involved in this problem.
the point in his struggle is he wants her to live and be free, just like he wanted himself to live and be free. kaname longs for the mortality and carefreeness that might set him free from his responsibility and burden (but he can't, so he try to at least give it to yuki. but OOPS, he turned yuki back into a vampire and now he's gotta keep those purebloods and opposing vampires in check...cause they're not endangerin only him, but yuki as well. not to mention the furnace and vampire hunter weapons are getting less effective.)
kaname meant it when he said yuki has became a hindrance for him. this is exactly why at the end of series, he wanted zero to be with yuki.
originally, that is not what he wanted, he wanted yuki for only himself. this is shown where he turned yuki back into vampire. although this was initiated by yuki. let's admit he partly agree so he could have her by himself. and show zero that yuki is HIS. that was not a part of his original plan.
but then he realized things have gotten too complicated and the price is too high to pay. (the price is yuki's safety and happiness that he fought for long and many times. he also saw that yuki wasn't as happy as she used to be in her new life as vampire and he felt guilty for it)
by the time he said she is a hindrance, he already hated himself. perhaps he already hated himself from a long time ago and now he got to see for himself how far his course of actions have gotten everyone in trouble. he didn't feel like he deserved yuki's warmth for a slightest. for him, it's already over. everything is over. his life is over. he wants nothing but redemption. i think this explains why he's so nonchalant when yuki held him tight. but, he still talked to her once he heard yuki erased zero's memories to chose him.
Tumblr media
<Additionally, it explains why he decided to leave after their night together. Things have gone wrong so many times. Why would it work this time? It's the state of a depressed mind.>
ultimately he just want to protect yuki and prevent her from perishing like THW. because, he might not 'love' THW romantically or passionately but her sacrifice showed him how regret feels. he learned from it and try his best to prevent it in the future.
this is also why he rushed to throw his heart into the furnace, he didn't want yuki to change his mind again knowing her safety is at stake. especially when he know yuuki is too empathetic and caring of others.
kaname has this mindset : "If you want to marry an Angel, you must first create Heaven for her. Angels don't live in Hell".
as her ancestor, brother, husband, lover, he feels responsible to yuki's wellbeing.
unironically, he's a simple logical man. he's got a goal in mind and no price is too high to create heaven for yuki, a safe place she can live in. even if the cost is his own life and happiness

"What will you dream into,
Into what will we weave?
What will we hold onto from what has been built before?
What needs unweaving?
What will we sweep out from under these mile-high, millenia-long rugs?
Will we let those industries sleep?
What will we dream into,
What will we weave?"

Day 4 - High-men
“What do you suppose the catch is?” Valandil asked, looking out over the western coast of Númenor.
“What?” Ontamo was caught off guard. “Why should there be a catch?”
Valandil scoffed incredulously. “You cannot honestly believe that we are simply meant to sail around the island and camp for a night on the beach. That’s too easy!”
Ontamo rolled his eyes at his friend’s dramatics. “We are practicing going ashore without a dock, setting up a military standard camp, and taking watches. All skills we shall need on deployment.” Almost as an afterthought, he muttered, “Not everything has to be a challenge.”
Valandil shot him an annoyed glance, but got back to work.
As they neared the shore, the sail master appeared behind them. “Cadets.”
Valandil and Ontamo straightened and saluted instantly, startled. “Sailmaster!” they chorused.
The sail master did not look particularly impressed, but neither did he correct them. “I have an additional task for the both of you tonight.” Valandil held his breath and he could sense Ontamo doing the same beside him. Additional tasks were usually assigned as discipline, but occasionally, the sail master would give out extra responsibilities as opportunities to prove oneself.
“Your friend, Cadet Isildur, I want you to watch him tonight.”
Valandil and Ontamo shared a glance. “Watch him, Sailmaster?” Valandil asked.
“Yes.” The sail master towered over them and they tried not to be intimidated. “I fear he will do something particularly foolish tonight. Prevent him.”
“Yes sir!” That was… a fair request, Valandil thought. As talented a sailor as Isildur was, he was not known for his common sense. The west side of Númenor was sparsely populated, rural at best. Who knew what sort of trouble would await the man who acted first and thought later?
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Isildur…” Isildur shook his head in a vain attempt to rid himself of the voice. She was always louder the further west he went. Luckily, his regiment had no women, so all he had to do was ignore any female voices and pretend he wasn’t going mad. Or that the ghosts weren’t driving him mad.
“Isildur.” She plagued him all throughout evening drills, Her voice rang through his ears as he laid out his bedroll. No matter how hard he tried to block Her out, Her voice was there, beckoning.
“Isildur!” Isildur tossed and turned late into the night, oblivious to his friends’ worried glances. He couldn’t possibly sleep with someone shouting in his ear, but he could hardly tell someone about Her without his madness becoming known. He just had to wait until they sailed back east. He had to leave before…
“ISILDUR!” Her voice rang from the mountains like a fallen temple bell and Isildur could take it no longer. Like a man possessed, he leapt from his bedroll and took off towards the mountains, quick as an arrow from a longbow.
Valandil, who had been resting nearby, followed hot on his heels, pausing only to kick Ontamo to wakefulness. He didn’t even stop to salute the sail master as he tore past, just called over his shoulder, “I’m in pursuit!”
Isildur dashed up the slope and crashed through the underbrush, heedless of the scratches he was surely collecting. Up and up and up they climbed, Valandil always just a few steps behind his friend.
Just as Valandil thought his legs would give out from under him, they reached a clearing on top of one of the smaller hills and Isildur skidded to a stop. “Isildur?” Valandil tried. “Isildur, we need to get back to camp.”
Isildur didn’t respond. Instead, he entered the clearing as if in a trance and walked towards the shrine in its center. The shrine was clearly ancient; a cracked, moss-grown pillar with a statue of a woman on top. It was surrounded by deep blue, faintly glowing flowers.
“Isildur, this place is creepy. We are going. Come on.” Valandil made to grab him by the wrist, meaning to drag him back to camp, but was crashed into from behind by Ontamo. They fell to the ground in a heap and, before Valandil could stop him, Isildur reached out and took the statue-woman by the hand.
The very air seemed to freeze in its place. All of the night animals ceased their noise. All save the nightingales. Dozens of the birds gathered and began to swarm the clearing, screaming, clicking, and warbling.
Valandil recovered first, rushing into the swarm with Ontamo close behind. The birds repelled them at first, pecking their faces and clawing their hair, but they dispersed soon enough. There, at the center, Isildur lay crumpled at the foot of the statue, unharmed save for the blood streaming from his nose.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isildur woke to a pounding headache the next morning back on the ship. Her warning still rang through his mind. “It is too late to turn back. They are going to destroy your people and you with them if you do not go soon. Flee to Middle Earth, you and all those who are still Faithful. Go!”
He pondered on Her warning. Its meaning was obvious: the Faithful needed to flee before it was too late. The rest was not so clear. Who were “they”? Why had She chosen to warn him of all people?
He sat up in his hammock and immediately regretted it as his head started spinning. “Good morning, Singollo,” came Valandil’s tired voice from the hammock next to his.
“What’s the time?” Isildur grunted, ignoring the jab.
“I do not know, nor do I particularly care. The sailmaster sent me down here to rest since I didn’t get much sleep last night. Too busy chasing you through the jungle.” He slung his arm over his face dramatically. “He wants to speak to you, by the way. About what happened last night.”
“About what happened la- oh no…” The details were fuzzy in Isildur’s mind, save Her warning, but he did remember leaving the camp without the leave of the sail master. He flipped out of his hammock, landing semi-gracefully on the floor. “I don’t care what kind of flowers they use in my funeral, just make sure they are blue?”
Valandil huffed a laugh, ignoring Isildur’s struggle to get his boots on. As he dashed out of the room, he paused in the doorway. “I really am sorry about last night. I do not know what came over me, but I am sorry for leading you on a wild goose chase.”
“It is not the end of the world,” Valandil sighed. “Although I may use it as an anecdote in your eulogy if you do not hurry up and get to the Sailmaster. He will have your head if you are late on top of everything else.”
Isildur’s eyes widened comically and he all but ran from the room.
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Isildur knocked on the door of the captain’s quarters, willing his hands not to shake. He entered as soon as he was bid and stood at attention. “Sailmaster, I am deeply sorry for what happened last night. I do not know what came ov-”
“Peace, cadet,” the sail master interrupted him. “You are not in any trouble. Temporary madness is not an uncommon reaction to the West for the descendants of Elros.”
Isildur blinked. “It is not?”
The sail master shook his head. “No, although I admit yours was a stronger reaction than I’ve seen. The entire point of this exercise is to identify cadets such as yourself. Studying family trees is not always useful, as some of the Tar-Minyatur’s line are entirely unaffected and there have been many affected cadets who were not… related to him on paper, if you take my meaning.”
Isildur nodded. “I understand, Sailmaster. But, what is to be done about…this?”
“The solution is simple. You will only ever be deployed on the east side of the island, never the west. Now go,” he waved his hand dismissively. “Back to your post, cadet. You have slept long enough.”
Isildur saluted, a bubble of relief bursting in his chest. “Yes, Sailmaster. Thank you, Sailmaster.”

Big shifts are coming — well, there’s already a big turning of the Great Wheel coming, either Yule or the Summer Solstice depending on where in the world you are — but today’s draw is a big one. The new turn will bring wisdom, hard-won, and new growth, but something will also be lost. The Gods are present for this turning; maybe They’re present for all of them, or maybe this time something different is happening and Their presence is requested. Focus on honesty and prayer, authenticity in your words and deeds, and keep a close watch on your resources. Things are going to move fast now so go with the flow. What’s happening now is large-scale and it’s important to stay on the right side of it. [Image shows 10.
