little girl, a patient: can I have a lollipop
doctor merlin in the 21st century: can you have— I have created butterflies from nothing and horses from smoke. I have seen empires rise, fall, crumble, and start from nothing but a fish in a poor man’s hand. I’ve fought witches and failed them too. I’ve laid waste to armies and blessed nations of people with health that will never make up for it. I have pantsed Kings and kissed Queens. I have stood upon the precipice of this world and called forth the ocean only for time to swallow me whole and spit me back out. And I would do it all again if I could grant you, dear Matilda, a lollipop.
little girl: strawberry?
merlin: say no more, Tilda, this should clear up the taste of that cold medicine right away

peter parker runs a tumblr account where he tells stories about the ridiculous things his dad says/does. It started as a way to keep all his stories in one place, and he didn't think much of one or two notes here and there.
He didn't expect it to go viral overnight, however, and it seems a little too late to reveal that the "dad" in question is billionaire Tony Stark.

Today on 'Iris is pissed off with the internet's perception of history': I just saw a tiktok about 'things every history girl has been obsessed with' featuring the tudors, Marie Antoinette, the Romanovs, and the Titanic and euughhrjfjrj. This is very dangerously close to just outright calling it 'girl history' and I'm really not a fan.
Tbh it goes along with a trend I've been seeing a lot that I like to call the 'coquette-ification' of history, in which what I presume to be teenage girls (with whom the 'coquette' trend has the most traction) fascinate over the presupposed 'femininity' and 'innocence' of female (usually royal) historical figures like Anne Boleyn or Marie Antoinette (obvs Titanic is an exception, I cba rn to try and analyse why that's considered 'girl history' but I think there's a reason). All of these fixations generally seem so focused on victimhood above all else rather than anything these historical figures actually did, which is something we really should've moved on from by now (did you guys not even see Six??? That was the whole message of Six!!!)
Anyway I could ramble for hours but the main point I want to hammer home is that history is so much more! From extremely niche details and people to broad systems of rule and oppression that we still see remnants of today! It is full of agents, from the average person to those famous historical figures like Anne Boleyn and Marie Antoinette who were their own agents, for better or worse, and weren't just subject to the actions of others! Just branch out, please

One of the really amusing things about college is that if you pay attention you sometimes can discern some of your professor's favorite pet concepts.
For instance, in my Topology course this semester, the Zariski topology has come up at least once in every single homework set so far, and in multiple lectures.
And okay, that's not that weird. The Zariski topology is a really important object in a LOT of fields, especially algebraic geometry. And discussing it at length is a really pedagogically sound move because the Zariski topology is a good example of a topology with a very well motivated structure (the closed sets are the algebraic sets!) that still very naturally gives rise to a lot of strange features, like the way all open sets in the standard topology are Zariski-dense. It was quite effective at startling me out of the complacency of unconsciously basing my intuition of how topologies behave entirely on the standard topology on the reals. So my professor bringing up Zariski so often doesn't necessarily mean he has any special affection for it.
except...
My professor writes many of the homework problems himself. Not all of them - the less interesting ones he lifts from the textbook- but some. Well, every single Zariski topology question I've encountered so far is an original from this guy. I know because the all the questions he writes personally have paragraphs of commentary contextualizing why he thinks the problem is interesting and where the ideas in the problem are going later in the course. And well- let's just say the asides on the Zariski topology have been copious indeed
AND THEN there's the way he talks about the Zariski topology in class! It's with this blend of enthusiasm and fascination only comparable to the way I've seen tumblrites talk about their blorbos. Like hey! Come behold this sgrungy little guy! Isn't he fucked up? Isn't he marvelous? And I look and I can only conclude YEAH that is indeed a spectacular specimen, he's so strange, I want to put him in a terrarium and study him (and then I get to! In my homeworks!)
Anyways. It makes me really happy picking up on how excited my professor is to share this topology with us. I'm kind of baffled that people assume math is a boring field full of boring people when there exist folks like my professor who get this passionate about a topology!

So the "Jesper is Wylan's sugar baby" jokes don't bother me TOO badly, but they irk me slightly because they're pretty much based on the fact that no one knows what an allowance is beyond the context of "spending money a parent gives to their child". An allowance in business is an amount of money given to someone for a specific business-related expense, so the "allowance" mentioned at the end of CK is just the amount of money they budgeted to put into the stock market, which Jesper is in charge of. Because you know, he's smart and also Wylan's business partner, not his incompetent pet. Ok maybe the jokes bother me some

Hello! I was just wondering if you've gotten any asks yet about Desmond being in the hunger games :0? Like whether he was transported there or something else :v
I don’t think I’ve ever had any asks for a Hunger Games AU. For this one, we can make Desmond be born in one of the other Districts and volunteers himself as tribute to keep one of the younger children safe. In this one, I suggest he be born as an orphan who takes younger orphans under his wings, teaching them to a bit of self defense and anything he can that won’t get the attention of the Capital’s goons.
He knows there’s something deeply wrong in this world he is reborn in and, given any other situations, he would have already started to make plans to rain hell on the people directly oppressing his district but he gets caught up in all the Hunger Games to save one of his fellow orphans.
If you want him to be caught up in the Hunger Games that Katniss was in, then I would suggest he be part of any of the District where the tributes died during the initial bloodbath in Cornucopia.
Desmond would probably feel sick about the whole ‘appealing to the audience’ and will be snidely making remarks about how disgusting they all are for watching all of these for entertainment, making him more or less a black sheep of the tributes that even his fellow tribute would try to shy away from.
Honestly? Putting Desmond who has the memories of 3 mentors and 1 grand master in a field filled with children?
Not a good deal.
He would never hurt innocent children and would even try to help them even though most of them (if not all of them) would doubt his sincerity. He would definitely go head to head with the Career pack and kick their asses but he wouldn’t kill them because they’re children and he knows that they were ‘conditioned’ to think of killing as normal but, at the same time, he would definitely make sure they would not be able to harm anybody else.
In all honesty, Desmond’s real enemy in the Hunger Games would be the Gamemakers and he’d definitely get into their bad side. The only reason why he doesn’t fall for their traps is because of his Eagle Vision.
If this does follow Katniss’ Hunger Games then Desmond would probably have a wary truce with Katniss (after saving Rue ofc) and there would be less death this time around with Desmond fucking the Gamemakers’ plan all the time, all the while goading the watchers to see how fucked up this is.
Honestly, at some point, Desmond is probably going to find a weak point in the location they’re in and exploit it, maybe even use the monsters they send out later in the game by having them attack the weak point and essentially jail breaking everyone out.
(Although, there’s probably some tributes who would talk about how this would only punish their districts and Desmond knows that they are holding their districts hostage so it’s really between two hard places)
Sidebar: Desmond would probably understand why District 13 is not ‘acting’ against the Capitol and he would probably side with the rebels but, at the same time, he would definitely not agree with a lot of the plans the rebels. This also has the side effect of the rebellion probably having Desmond as the symbol instead of Katniss (or maybe not, who knows)

I love that Tendou spends the entirety of Kabuto in love with Kagami. I love that it takes Kagami like 40 episodes to figure it out because he's a dog person trying to understand a cat. I love that Tendou seems so cold because he's so self-centred and blunt at times while overly vague and closed-off at others, but his love is all-encompassing and unconditional. I love that Kagami is the typical bumbling main rider in the role of the secondary, that Tendou is his rival but not vice-versa, because Tendou is still the true main rider who openly likes his ill-tempered secondary from the start, though he shows it in a way that no one who doesn't know Tendou would be able to understand. I love that when Kagami finally figures it out, he realises it's been love the whole time, and that there's no grand gesture needed. I love that he knows Tendou at that point. I love that he understands what Tendou wants to hear, and it's not bold proclamations or heroic speeches, but something that seems blunt and presumptuous in the way Tendou himself is. Cook something for me (continue to love me) (I want to be loved by you)

Luke -I already play it better than they do! I should work on that composition, instead. The elaboration is shaping up, but the transition between the second and third themes needs more clarity... a modulation? How did that theme go...
Weird, I can hardly hear it in my head. Is there something wrong with me?
Tumblr media
Luke "Not that it's any of your business, but I'm heading out. This house is poison to inspiration."
Melody "Oh, good morning to you as well. Do as you wish; we're about to have breakfast with Cedric."
Luke Ugh... of course that man is here again. No wonder my creativity gets drained!
Tumblr media
Cedric "-there weren't eggs in the fridge, so it's only cereals."
Melody "I confess I've lived with summoned food of late. Did you have trouble sleeping?"
Tumblr media
Cedric "Ah... the morning sun just woke me up. I didn't mean to disturb you."
Melody "I only distantly sensed you leaving my side. Say, do you think Shay would be able to look after your garden for a week or two...?"
Cedric "...Yes, I'm sure of it. What are you proposing?"
Tumblr media
Melody "A vacation. Eternity knows my head's too heavy with high witch problems! And you might know that even better still."
Cedric "...Oh! Yes, that could do good for us. I haven't traveled ever since Shay moved in, haha."
Melody "The first cold touch of fall always makes me miss the mountain air. And if all the meditating hasn't turned a certain old witch into stone already... it'd be high time for my mother and husband to meet properly."

Derek: After journeying for seven nights and seven days, the party finally comes across the old decrepit bridge that leads to the hillside where some goats are grazing!
Baxter: Child's play. I roll a stealth check to see if there is anything nearby and walk under the bridge.
Baxter: Rolls a fucking one.
Derek: Evidently, you see nothing but trip over someone sleeping.
Cove: A HOBO?!
