H/t to @cozotoro on this one, they recently brought up a very cool Mamimi fanart that is apparently from something I did not know existed; The "GAINAX NET Art Musuem", a collection of CDs Gainax released assembled special art that they published on their website. Btw their OG website was amazing:
Tumblr media
So this art wasn't just a "whatever" collection, they put some degree of work into it. The CD cover is great of course;
Tumblr media
But anyway I just wanted to highlight a few of them that I think are neat. The original shared one is of Mamimi (from FLCL ofc) by Tsurumaki himself:
Tumblr media
Which, being dated to 1999, makes this something from right in the middle of production. I love this piece because its hitting all of my boxes right now - after reading paragraphs of Tsurumaki talking about the manga influences of FLCL, how much this art screams the styles of Moyoco Anno & Kyoko Okazaki is a direct proof of that influence thread. The color stacked with the sketchy fill of her jacket really sells that haggard, aimless fog of the rebel teen. (Having no bra isn't hurting that vibe either)
Tumblr media
Takeshi Okazaki being aggro as fuck on this one, love the perspective shot. Rei is portrayed as passive and without agency very often, but not so much with this level of vulnerability, and I like how it plays that note on both the physical and emotional levels.
Tumblr media
Here we have Hajime Ueda doing fanart for The Wings of Honnêamise, which is exactly the tonal opposite of everything he stands for and therefore the perfect choice for his gremlin hands. Making everything a fish-eye lens so that the picture is itself a globe the rocket is taking off from is just cute shit.
Tumblr media
This one actually broke containment, you see it in FLCL fanart dumps around the net. Yusuke Yoshigaki may be one of the youngest of the FLCL crew but he obviously gets it. Though he apparently hates Ninamori, poor girl getting very short billing here.
Tumblr media
Fucking Princess Maker fanart, I have never seen Princess Maker fanart! Princess Maker 3 girl has a great outfit, what a trim, even if Princess Maker 2 in the middle is ofc the best game in the franchise
Tumblr media
This Nadia piece by Nishigori works well for me, I love how smooth it is with the faded colors and thin lines while Nadia is still rocking things like a rainbow belt. The "modern AU" genre complete with girl-with-oversized-headphones is always a win, and hey now its retro; and I appreciate how modernized Nadia is while still looking like herself, its a good style blend.
Tumblr media
Obligatory Imaishi Gonna Imaishi!
But yeah there is a lot more in there, actually this is one of several volumes of CD's. Definitely worth a look.

YOI Future!Verse ABO AU - 4 Koma set
But we wanna watch!
The next day...
*Yuuri, waking up sometime in the afternoon, vaguely remembering staying up to Skype with Yurio and Victor to congratulate Yurio on another gold*
*Yuuri, feeling absolutely sick to his stomach and overall terrible*
Yuuri: I regret everything and being an adult is terrible.
What happened: They all stayed up to watch all the skating, then Yuuko dragged the triplets to bed after the winners were announced. Yuuri, Minami and the twins stayed to Skype the Russians, Minami and the twins falling asleep part way through. Yuuri finished the Skype then passed out. Minami woke up a few hours later, forced himself awake and carried the twins and Yuuri to bed, it’d be terrible if any of them got sick or Yuuri woke up sore! He meant to return to his own room but ended up passed out on top of the covers. He’ll wake up soon and freak out to be accidentally sharing a bed with Yuuri...)

#3 Victor and Yuuri 😍❤️
Here’s some sappy teasing just for you!
If you like these prompt responses, please check out my Ao3 (126 YOI stories alone lol)
Quarantined Prompts
Sleep clouded the last unconscious pieces of Yuuri’s mind as he blinked himself awake. The bed was empty next to him, both Makkachin and Victor missing from spots that they had only recently made their own. It felt weird to wake up without Victor’s hums as he got dressed and the immediate face full of Makkachin kisses, especially when Yuuri discovered that Victor’s spot was cold.
Sweatpants and a hoodie found their way onto Yuuri’s body before he was fully coherent, his feet stumbling as he pulled on his socks and headed for his door.
The dining room was quiet, more quiet than Yuuri had seen it since he and Victor had returned from China. His mother leaned over a far table, cloth wiping in efficient circles to clear away the mess left behind from patrons who had already gone. She smiled at Yuuri when she caught him standing in the doorway.
“Vitya,” the diminutive was new and his mother looked pleased as she said it, “he went to Yuuko’s. He told me to tell you that you could meet him there.”
Ice cold fear dropped into Yuuri’s stomach. It had been a matter of self-preservation that he had not let Yuuko and Takeshi get Victor alone. After the last time, when they had revealed to Victor that Yuuri practiced because he didn’t have friends, Yuuri had made sure to limit their interactions to when Yuuri could keep an eye on his traitorous friends.
Pausing only to press a kiss to his mom’s head (a habit he had picked up from Victor and then continued when he had realized how much it made his mom smile), Yuuri snagged his shoes and ran out of the inn.
Hopping from foot to foot, Yuuri yanked his shoes on and then set out towards the Nishigori household. There was no telling what embarrassing information Yuuko and Takeshi had already shared with Victor and Yuuri knew that there would be a serious need for damage control.
The sound of Takeshi’s laughter floating out of front door reinforced all of Yuuri’s worries. Flicking his shoes off with his toes, Yuuri rounded the corner and stopped short when he spied Victor sandwiched on the couch between his friends and Makkachin splayed on the ground with the triplets draped over her.
On the screen of the television in front of them was a video that Yuuri had sworn he had destroyed. A chubby, more clumsy version of himself moved over the ice, wearing a hand-sewn copy of one of Victor’s costumes that his mother had made for his eleventh birthday.
“You’re the cutest kid who ever existed!” Victor squealed from his place on the couch, his feet bouncing along with the music of little Yuuri’s program and his eyes flitting between the screen and Yuuri’s flushed face. “I’ve seen all of these videos Yuuri! So many!”
Snapping out of his trance, Yuuri stomped across the room and snagged Victor’s wrist. “That’s enough,” he announced, his eyes narrowing as Yuuko and Takeshi started to protest. “You too, Makka,” he called, whistling quickly between his teeth as he dragged a protesting Victor to their shoes and out of the door.
“Yuuri! Yuuri, stop!” Victor laughed, flipping Yuuri’s hold on his wrist so that Victor was holding Yuuri’s hand instead. “Yuuri, don’t be embarrassed. You were adorable. I love that I played a part in your inspiration to skate.”
“It’s always been you.” The words were a whisper and Yuuri let himself be pulled around to face Victor. Before Victor could ask him to repeat himself, Yuuri took a deep breath and spoke again. “It’s always been you... you were always my inspiration.”
Saying it out loud made Yuuri’s cheeks burn, but the brightness of Victor’s smile made him forget how to breathe. “Even before I knew you, there was a part of you that was already... in my heart...”
A sharp yank brought Yuuri crashing into Victor’s chest as Victor’s arms crushed him into a hug. “My Yuuri, you can’t say such things. My heart can’t take it.”
Laughing against Victor’s shoulder, Yuuri wrapped his own arms around Victor’s back. “It’s true. You’ve always been the star I looked to.”
Soft flakes of snow began to fall, dusting over their shoulders and catching in their hair as they stood in an embrace that neither of them seemed bothered to break. “I’m just glad they only showed you skating videos.” Yuuri sighed, rubbing his hands up and down Victor’s back.
“Oh they didn’t,” Victor tilted his head back slightly with a glint of mischief in his eyes. “There was this one video of you... drunk...”
Squeaking, Yuuri jumped out of Victor’s arms and started to back away. “Victor, I... I can explain...” He unfortunately had no doubt about which video Victor had seen and there was no way he wanted to discuss any part of it.
“But Yuuri! I want to do all those things you promised to my poster!” Victor reached out to grab Yuuri’s hands but Yuuri was already running. “I’m faster than you!” Victor yelled, slipping on the falling snow as he took off running after Yuuri.
Their laughter and Makkachin’s happy barks carried them through the snow and all the way home.

BTMH: Chapter 28: Hot Pot
Tumblr media
Seonghwa squished Makkachin’s cheeks and Y/N pet him as Seonghwa did so. Y/N loved Makkachin, he reminded her of her own dog who had passed. She was so glad Seonghwa brought him with him when he came from Russia.
“Makkachin, behave while I’m gone,” Seonghwa picked up Makkachin under his arms and hugged him. “Don’t you dare steal any steamed buns.”
Y/N had gotten up and walked over to the door, dragging a suitcase behind her. She had on a pair of boots, leggings, a shirt, a long puffy jacket, a scarf, and a beanie. She also had her signature knee brace on. “Seonghwa, we’re going to miss the flight!”
Seonghwa nodded and pet Makkachin one last time before walking to where Y/N was standing. Y/N pulled her surgical mask down a little and smiled at her family. “Okay, I’m off to Beijing,” Y/N said.
Minako, the Nishigori family, and the Katsuki family wave as they leave for the airport.
“We’ll be rooting for you!” Hiroko called.
“Good luck, Y/N!” The triplets said.
“I’ll be right behind you!” Minako called.
“Hwa, let’s take a picture!” Y/N said.
Seonghwa looked down at his girlfriend and nodded. “Alright,” he said. He bent down a little and Y/N took a selfie of the two of them.
“Can I post it?” She asked.
He nodded. She smiled and posted it with the caption: ‘Here we come, Cup of China! #figureskating #grandprix #onloveeros #ynonice’
When Seonghwa and Y/N got to the airport, Seonghwa grabbed Y/N’s hand while they walked.
Y/N looked down at their connected hands and then back at Seonghwa. “What are you doing?” She asked.
“What? I can’t hold my girlfriend’s hand?” Seonghwa asked.
Y/N shook her head and didn’t say anything else. Y/N was just being shy because that was the first time he had done that. She didn’t think he’d want to make it obvious to everyone that they were dating quite yet, but she was wrong. She heard camera’s click and she pulled her face mask back up to cover the majority of her face.
Once the pair got to the gate they handed in their tickets and entered the plane, walking back to the coach section where their seats were. Y/N always flew coach. She had a feeling that Seonghwa normally didn’t and felt bad that he would be having to stay in the cramped area.
Y/N put her carry-on in the overhead bin before sitting down in the seat by the window. Y/N liked to look out the window as they flew.
“I haven’t flown coach in a while. Want to get some champagne?” Seonghwa asked. Right after he remembered how things went the last time she got drunk and regretted asking that.
“Uh, Seonghwa, can I just get some sleep?” Y/N asked.
“I’m surprised you can sleep in such a cramped seat!” Seonghwa said.
Soon enough both Y/N and Seonghwa were sleeping, Y/N resting on Seonghwa’s shoulder as he rested his head on top of hers.
‘Hello. I’m Katsuki Y/N, one of the top co-ed’s figure skaters certified by the JSF. And at last… China’s on! The Grand Prix Series Opening Event!!! The Cup of China Short Program!’
“Welcome to the Figure Skating Grand Prix Series, where top figure skaters will compete to determine the world’s best figure skater. This event marks the start to the race to the podium,” the announcer said. “At Skate America, Seokjin de la Iglesia won his first gold in his home country, while Baekhyun Ji placed third. Both will now compete in the Cup of China. At Skate Canada, Yeosang Leroy, the bronze medalist at last year’s Grand Prix Final, won the gold. We also saw an awe-inspiring Jongho Plisetsky, age 15, win silver at his first senior event. And finally, tomorrow will be our third event in the series, the Cup of China. Japan’s late bloomer, Katsuki Y/N, age 23, will be aiming for her second consecutive Final Qualification. She’s declared her program theme to be “love”. Survive with the power of love.”
Y/N was sitting in a chair, talking to some interviewers while Seonghwa looked at something in the distance, thinking about something else. She had a hand on her hair and looked nervous, for some reason. “Huh? How much power of love do I have?” Y/N said.
Seonghwa looked back at them and crossed his arms. “Y/N/N, let’s go have hot pot already,” Seonghwa interjected.
“Hwa, I’m in the middle of an interview!” Y/N said, looking at him.
She had stopped paying attention when the interviewer asked, “So, you and Seonghwa are on nickname basis now?”
“Yeah,” Y/N said, not thinking about it.
“That seems like a lot more than just a coach and coachee relationship,” the interviewer said.
“Wait, what?” Y/N asked, finally zoning back in.
Behind them, Yakov and Felix walked. Seonghwa caught sight of them and turned around. “Oh, Yakov!” Seonghwa said, grabbing his coat. “Hey, hey… Want to come eat hot pot with us?” Yakov didn’t answer Seonghwa and continued to walk, and we all know how Seonghwa feels when he’s ignored. “Hey, why are you ignoring me?”
“Seonghwa!” Yakov said.
Y/N looked around confused. She had heard the electric guitar again. Who brought a guitar with them?
“Listen, Seonghwa, I feel sick when I see you playing pretend-coach. I’d prefer if you’d only talk to me when you’re ready to plead for your return to skating. Got it?” Yakov said.
Y/N had finished the interview and walked over to Seonghwa, standing behind him with part of her body not visible. Seonghwa narrowed his eyes and nodded before turning around and wrapping an arm around Y/N. “Yakov’s not interested. Let’s go,” Seonghwa said.
Y/N sat across from Seonghwa in the restaurant. He was happily enjoying the hot pot while she sipped on some soup and had some water.
“Look, Y/N/N! Shanghai crab! Drunken shrimp! Duck blood!” Seonghwa said excitedly. He held up a shrimp with his chopsticks.
“Wait! Hold that pose,” Y/N said, she snuck out her phone and took a picture. “Okay, you may continue.”
Seonghwa just smiled and continued to eat. He didn’t mind his girlfriend taking pictures of him, since he took ones of her, too. He loved taking them during her skates.
“Vkusno! Huh? You’re not eating the shrimp?” Seonghwa asked.
“It’s right before the competition, so I want to avoid raw food,” Y/N explained.
“It’s really good!” Seonghwa said.
Y/N put a hand on her face and sighed. “Hwa, I ran my mouth too much at the press conference. What will people say if I lose after all that?”
“Don’t worry, after last years loss, they aren’t expecting much. As long as you try they’ll be satisfied,” Seonghwa said trying to reassure her.
“Oh, Y/N!” Yunho said.
“Yunho! Hey,” Y/N said with a smile.
“So, this is where you were eating,” Yunho said.
Seonghwa held up his hand in a wave. “Hi!”
“Oh, hello. But talk about a coincidence. Oh, can I invite Ciao Ciao,” Phichit asked.
“Huh?” Y/N said. Did Yunho want to invite Celestino? Why would he want to invite Celestino? Did he not know how awkward it was for Y/N to see him after things ended?
“You want to see him, don’t you?” Yunho asked.
“Not really…” Y/N said. She was being honest. She really didn’t want to see Celestino. It was going to be awkward and Y/N didn’t want to deal with that. She was fine with it just being her, Yunho, and Seonghwa. That was fine with her.
“Ciao, ciao!” Celestino said.
When Y/N saw Celestino show up she got up and moved to sit next to Seonghwa so Celestino could sit with Phichit. “Um, hello,” Y/N said.
Seonghwa smiled as he held a shrimp with his chopsticks. “Want some shrimp?” He held the shrimp closer to Celestino.
“Oh, that kind of food doesn’t agree with me—” Celestino said. Seonghwa ignored this and held the shrimp closer to Celestino, who shrunk away from the shrimp. Celestino really didn’t like shrimp.
“It’s really good!” Seonghwa said enthusiastically.
Y/N gently grabbed his arm and pulled his hand away from Celestino. She looked over at Seonghwa once he turned to look at her. “Hwa, Celestino is allergic to shellfish, he can’t have any,” she explained. Seonghwa nodded once he understood.
“Hwa?” Yunho asked. He raised an eyebrow at Y/N and then grinned. “You’re dating aren’t you?”
Y/N practically jumped out of her seat. Before she even got the chance to respond, Seonghwa did it for her.
“Yes, we are,” Seonghwa said.
Yunho squealed. “That’s great!”
Meanwhile Baekhyun Ji Is standing in front of a grill, eating some street food made by the chef in front of him. His face is flushed lightly from the cold. Even thought he was from China he still wasn’t quite used to how cold it would get during winter. Even with a puffy jacket, scarf, and warm hat he was still chilly. He couldn’t wait for summer to return.
“Baekhyun!” Seokjin yelled from behind him.
When Baekhyun turned around, he saw Seokjin waving at him excitedly. Once he stopped waving, he started walking towards Baekhyun, his signature smile on his face. Seokjin finally stopped walking once he was in front of him. “I thought I’d find you here,” he said.
Baekhyun still had a mouthful of food when Seokjin spoke to him. “Seokjin,” he said, it coming out weirdly because he still had food in his mouth.
Seokjin breathed into his hands before rubbing them together, they were very cold. He wasn’t used to the cold and he did not enjoy it. “I was worrying because you weren’t answering,” Seokjin said as he waved his phone.
“Sorry, sorry,” Baekhyun said.
“I got a call from Yunho. He wants me to come to a hot pot place to interpret,” Seokjin said.
“What? But I don’t like hot pot,” Baekhyun said.
“Seonghwa’s there, too,” Seokjin said. Seokjin knew Baekhyun was a big fan of Seonghwa, so just mentioning that he was there would be enough to get Baekhyun to come with him.
“I’ll go!” Baekhyun said.
“Right? Y/N’s there, too,” Seokjin said.
“I want a selfie with Seonghwa to post online!” Baekhyun said.
“What about Y/N?” Seokjin asked.
“Eh, I’m only going for Seonghwa,” Baekhyun said.
“Okay, let’s get right to it,” Seokjin said.
“Yay!” Baekhyun said.
Felix Popovich had been walking past, carrying two things under his left arm. He smiled and looked down as he heard them talk. “So young,” he said as he walked past.
“Hurry up and finish,” Seokjin said, starting to get a bit impatient while waiting for Baekhyun to finish.
When Seokjin and Baekhyun finally arrived at the hot pot restaurant, they did not expect to see what they did.
Y/N was blushing when they finally got there. After all, she had a shirtless Seonghwa clinging to her. “Oh, sorry. Seonghwa’s had way too much to drink,” Y/N explained. The two nodded in understanding. Seonghwa had no shirt on and had his arms wrapped around Y/N’s neck. His face was flushed red from all the alcohol he had. Celestino, on the other hand, was foaming at the mouth with his head down on the table. Yunho poked his cheek a few times before taking a picture of the scene with his phone.
Seonghwa started to shake Y/N. “Let’s all go to a hot spring,” he said.
Yunho took another picture of Celestino before laughing softly. “Celestino, keep it together!”
Seokjin and Baekhyun were standing with their phones out as they trembled.
“Hot spring…Hasetsu Hot Springs, great place…” Seonghwa said.
Y/N was silently freaking out. Why did he always act so crazy when he was drunk? And why is he advertising the hot spring while they are in China? It’s not like they can just drive over to Hasetsu for a quick dip in the hot spring.
“Seonghwa. What are you saying? Hey! Don’t strip!” Y/N shouted as she attempted to stop him from taking his clothes off. Why was he so eager to take his clothes off?
“This is getting kind of R-rated…Is it okay to post this online?” Baekhyun asked.
Seonghwa ripped his pants off, throwing them in the air, causing them to land on Seokjin’s head.
“Hey! Someone help!” Y/N shouted.
Seonghwa took his underwear off next. This time it landed on Baekhyun’s head.
Y/N was freaking out. She was trying to make him stop without seeing him naked, it wasn’t working very well.
“Don’t. Restrain yourself,” Seokjin said.

I completely forgot about Yuri liking Yuko! Thanks! You're awesome!
You’re welcome! I’m kinda amused at how the writers wanted us to think that Yuri and Yuko would be an item, but all of a sudden, here comes Axel, Lutz and Loop from Yuko’s marriage to Takeshi and Yuri’s seen them before to boot. TBH if it weren’t for the Nishigori family, majority of the anime wouldn’t have happened, so give them some credit.

To All The Skaters I've Loved Before
Chapter Thirty-Three: My Dear Yuuri
Dear (Uncle) Yuuri,
This note is from Axel, Lutz, and Loop Nishigori and Victor Nikiforov. We want to say that you are a wonderful person and we are so happy that we get to live so close to you now. We love watching you skate and we are proud of you all the time. Please keep this note for good luck, so you can read it before every competition and do your best!
Love,
Axel, Lutz, Loop, and Victor
P.S. The girls have run out of patience for writing, but they wanted me to add that they hope you'll teach them to skate just like you one day. I hope to learn a thing or two also. — Victor
The large, blocky lettering juxtaposed with Victor’s neat script sends a stab of guilt through Yuuri. He at least should have read this one, despite his ambivalent feelings about opening the rest of them. Even though it had been easy to pick out from the bunch, with his name written in messy, childish writing on the surface of the folded up note, it had somehow gotten lost in the mix of the rest of them.
Stored in his barely-used bedroom, the box of notes had completely fallen out of his conscious awareness, with everything else that had been going on in the past few weeks. Near-constant training for the Final and time with Victor filling in all the gaps had meant there had been no time or energy for anything else.
But that’s not strictly true. He had decided not to think about it too hard. He’d let himself indulge in the lingering fear that all the notes before their relationship had become real would turn out to be blank, or would mention Victor’s intentions to get back together with Chris. That what had happened in Beijing had been an impulse decision on Victor’s part, or a passive choice to let things just happen.
He hadn’t wanted to know. He had been happy with Victor, and he didn’t want whatever he might have found out from the notes to put a damper on that. But now…
He spreads out the folded notes on the table, and Phichit picks up the one he’d already opened, from the triplets.
“This is adorable,” he says. “Are they all from the triplets?”
“Just that one,” Yuuri says, turning over one of the notes in his hands. There are tiny numbers scrawled in the corners of each of them — the dates. “The rest are from Victor.”
“And you haven’t read them?” Phichit frowns.
“At first, they were just for show — a ‘thoughtful gesture’ to be caught on camera, for Chris to find out about,” he explains. “At the time, I thought they might be blank, and that I would just end up feeling like an idiot for thinking there would actually be a message for me.”
“That’s— Ugh, Yuuri. You and Victor were friends, even back then, weren’t you? He probably wrote little things to be nice, at least.”
“I know, I know.” Yuuri groans. “I’m awful.”
“Don’t make me flick you again,” Phichit says, warningly.
“Maybe the complete lack of therapy since I moved back to Japan wasn't the best choice ever,” Yuuri mutters.
“Uh, yeah.” Phichit sighs, sitting down across from him. “Are you going to read them now?”
Yuuri nods, and finds the note with the earliest date. All the way back at World’s, Victor had given it to him right before the free skate.
Dear Yuuri,
From the bottom of my heart I want to thank you. You became a shining ray of hope when my life seemed otherwise dark and drab. I'm so glad we're friends.
Cheers to the beginning something wonderful.
Yours,
Victor
Tears prick at his eyes. God, he’s an asshole. If this one has a heartfelt message — the one Victor had given to him literally right in front of Chris — the one most likely to have been just for show — then the rest probably have real messages, too.
The next note had been been right before he’d performed Eros for the first time, in the mini competition against Yuri Plisetsky.
Dear Yuuri,
I’m truly touched that you've allowed me into your life and into your home. You've been working hard and it shows every time you skate. I'm so glad to have the opportunity to help you realize your full potential as a skater, and my life is better for it.
Yours,
Victor
Yuuri presses his fist to his mouth, tears spilling down his cheeks as he blinks hard. How could he have ever thought Victor could be cruel enough to give him blank notes?
“You okay?” Phichit asks, and Yuuri nods silently.
The next note is the one from the triplets, and the one after that is from while they had been sightseeing in Fukuoka. Victor had noticed a few people aiming their phones in their direction, and he’d winked at Yuuri as he’d conspicuously slipped the note into his back pocket.
Yuuri unfolds it carefully.
My dear Yuuri,
I can't adequately convey how much you have changed my life for the better. Every day I wake up with a purpose that I had been missing for a long time before I came with you to Hasetsu. My greatest wish is that I will be able to create such a positive impact on your life as well.
Yours,
Victor
Yuuri smiles through the tears streaming down his face. He hadn’t realized how much Victor’s time in Hasetsu, even early on, had meant to him. He’s hit with a powerful urge to rush out of the room and assure Victor that the impact he’s had on Yuuri’s life has been overwhelmingly positive.
But it will take only a few minutes to get through the rest of them, and then Yuuri will have the context he’s been missing all along. Mari is out there with Victor; he’ll be okay in the meantime, and he deserves for Yuuri to properly read his notes, after all this time.
Yuuri sucks in a breath at the date on the next note. The Fukuoka championship, when he’d been trying his hardest to distance himself from Victor, fearful of his own feelings.
Yuuri,
I miss the closeness that we had. I don't know exactly what I've done wrong, but I want to make amends. I feel like there's a wall between us and my heart aches that I don't get to see the real Yuuri anymore.
I didn't mean to pull you into the deep end.
Let's walk along the beach, instead. Maybe we can wade together in the shallows. And one day, if you can trust me again, we can learn to swim.
Victor
Yuuri sobs. He’s put Victor through so much shit. And Victor has been nothing but gracious and understanding through it all.
… wade together in the shallows…
When was it that he had told Victor about his feelings about getting close to people being like venturing too far from the safe shallows? Hadn’t that been a months before Victor would have written this note? And he’d remembered that detail…
Victor had told him that he’d thought Yuuri had pulled away because he realized that Victor had developed feelings. That must be what he’d meant by ‘pulling him into the deep end’. With this note he’d been trying to tell him that it was alright if Yuuri didn’t reciprocate, that he was still happy to work towards just being his friend again.
Friendship has always been a deeply significant relationship for Victor. Of course a conversation with Chris about it would sound like something of enormous emotional importance.
He curls himself over, pressing his cheek to the table. “I don’t deserve him, Phichit.”
“That’s up to him, I think,” Phichit says, carefully. “So you believe him about Chris, then?”
Yuuri nods, grabbing a Kleenex from the box on the nightstand and blowing his nose. Ugh, he’s such an ugly-crier.
What’s the next one? He takes a deep breath. This is it: the note from the night of the Beijing short program. Had Victor really been planning on taking him out to dinner and telling him how he felt? The note probably won’t say anything outright, but given what had happened that night… He’ll just read it and see for himself.
My dearest Yuuri,
I think — I hope — I understand, now. I'm so sorry I didn't see it sooner, if I’m right.
I'm looking forward to having dinner with you tonight. I hope we can work everything out, and start a new chapter together.
Yours always,
Victor
Yuuri covers his mouth with his hand, caught between sobbing and laughing, smiling and crying. Victor must have already picked up on his feelings at the time, but hadn’t pushed him to talk; he’d listened when Yuuri had asked him not to say anything, even though Yuuri had been completely off-base about what Victor had wanted to talk about.
He scrambles to open the next note, the one Victor had given him before the free skate, after they’d had their night together. He really has no excuse for not reading this one before.
My Yuuri,
You came back to me. I can hardly believe it.
The circumstances that brought us together are so strange and unlikely; it seems like fate that we would find each other in truth despite the layers of pretense we’d placed between us.
Waking up to your smile this morning was true bliss.
Yours always,
Victor
Yuuri sniffles, and pulls off his glasses to dab at his eyes. He laughs wetly. Victor has no room to make fun of the flowery language Yuuri had used in his love letter.
“What are you going to do?” Phichit asks.
“I’m going to go out there.”

Yuri On Ice headcanons 10
Woo! Double digits! I’ve been really liking doing these head canons and little AUs. I used to write all the time from junior high all the way through college and then I just kind of lost the time to write. Doing these every day makes me set aside time and hs got the creative juices going. So thanks to all who read them!
Part Ten!
Ten Hcs for Part 10!
The 10 Things Yuuri Absolutely Had To Bring To Russia (Skates Not Included)
The cactus- he’s had this little cactus since he was 15. Mari gave it to him one year for his birthday in the hopes it would be the one plant Yuuri could keep that Vicchan wouldn’t eat. It traveled all the way with him to Detroit and then back to Hasetsu. It’s absolutely second nature to pack it.
His Detroit hoodie. It’s worn and faded but it’s his oldest, most comfortable hoodie. It’s also three sizes to big so it makes him feel small even during off season.
The scrapbook Phichit made for him for his 23rd birthday. It’s horrifyingly embarrassing with numerous pictures of him pasted next to Victor cut from magazines. But it’s so Phichit who even went so far as to put in fake ads to make it more like a magazine all about his and Victor’s non existent (at the time) relationship. Honestly Victor has seen the posters. He’ll love this. And also demand phichit makes one for him.
Several pairs of chopsticks. He made this mistake when he moved to Detroit and he never realized he was picky about chopsticks until he tried to find a decent pair in America. And he may or may not have packed extra specific pairs for Victor and Yurio.
In the same being of thought, bento boxes. Again, three of them. Read above for reasoning. (Originally he only packed his, until his mother came bustling in with a new poodle bento box for victor and a tiger set for Yurio.)
House slippers. He wasn’t going to, hadn’t even crossed his mind, until he video called Victor and saw Victor’s own house slippers from the onsen nestled at the foot of the couch.
“Yuuri!!! Pack the really good rice your dad buys!” “Victor that’s going to cost-“ “I will pay with blood for it.” “...Right. I’ll have dad send a box of it...”
Physical pictures of his family, the Nishigoris, Minako, etc. When Victor opens this box, he pauses. He thought Yuuri was bringing older photos, Not ones where Victor himself is included in these photos with friends and family. Victor spends an exorbitant amount on frames, his heart is his throat.
A small cherry wood shrine, incense, and a copy of the picture of him and Vicchan. When Yuuri arrives he finds Victor has cleared a quiet corner in the study in anticipation. It’s perfect, right next to the window we’re it gets sunlight throughout the day. Yuuri would be lying if he wasn’t a little choked up over this.
His gaming consoles. All of them. He feels like it’s been years since he felt like he could make time to play again. But well Yurio brought up Breath of the Wild and Final Fantasy And. Well. He didn’t want to disappoint anyone.
BONUS: “Yuuri once more box arrived!”
“Huh? Two weeks after all the...other- NO VICTOR!”
“Mari said you forgot some things. Wow! Is this your entire poster collection? Yuuri there’s even MORE than what I found under your bed! Amazing!”

Studio Trigger Live Drawing with Mago (03/13/19): Transcript (Non-Verbatim)
Tumblr media
Studio Trigger streamed their fourth Twitch live drawing at 19:00 JST on March 13, 2019. The stream features Space Patrol Luluco character designer Mago drawing Trigger-chan from Trigger Girls and Luluco from Space Patrol Luluco, as well as a Q and A with producer Hiromi Wakabayashi and translator Tatsuru Tatemoto. A full video of the stream is available on Twitch here.
I’ve put together a transcript of the stream for anyone curious about the Q and A. While the transcript is not verbatim, all the meaning should still be captured.
Transcript
Tatsuru Tatemono (Tattun): Okay. Thank you for joining us on our fourth live-drawing session. We have Mago as our guest tonight. I’m aware that it’s very late for a lot of our followers. Thank you for stopping by. It’s 3:00 am in Seattle. Thank you very much for stopping by.
Again, Mago is our guest animator or guest illustrator today. As usual, Hiromi Wakabayashi is here as our MC. I, Tattun, will be doing the translation and moderation for the stream tonight. Tonight, we are having Mago draw Studio Trigger’s mascot character, Trigger-chan. I believe we had a special request from Mago that she wanted to draw Luluco as well. So, I think, uh, we would like…
Mago says that it’s a pleasure to meet you. She says that her name is Mago the Illustrator, and she’ll do her best today. Hiromi Wakabayashi says konnichiwa, as usual.
I’m sorry if it looks dark. It’s our camera. We’re going to be focusing on the illustration part a little bit more, so hopefully, the darkness won’t be too bothersome. I guess Hiromi brought a pre-release item from Promare that he was quality checking.
I’m very sorry. We’ll have our audio pumped up a little bit more.
So, we noticed that there’s a little glare on Mago’s tablet. We’re going to try to get rid of the glare so that you have a better view of how she is working with her illustration. Today, Mago is working with SAI 1, the first version of SAI. I believe she’s using the Cintiq 16, the newest tablet by Wacom. Otherwise, she’s using a wireless keyboard and mouse. When we upload the video on YouTube, I’ll make sure to cover all the specifics in the comments section.
Okay. So, I think we will get started with the Q and A session like usual. However, before we do so, note that this stream is brought to you by all the lovely support we receive from Patreon. Thank you. If you’re interested in becoming a supporter as well, the link is provided on our Twitter page. Please check it out if you’re curious. We try to provide digital rewards as frequently as possible, so if you’re interested in those things, do definitely give our Patreon a glance when you have some time!
So, for the people who are unfamiliar, Mago usually works on a lot of Studio Trigger’s SD character designs. She’s been a part of every single project except for DARLING in the FRANXX, which doesn’t really count because DARLING in the FRANXX is a collaboration work and not a 100% genuine Trigger show. Mago wasn’t part of Inferno Cop, either. Inferno Cop is a prestigious Trigger title, Hiromi says, so she needs more experience with Studio Trigger. We’re receiving some comments that Mago’s not a part of Turning Girls as well.
Well, that was the introduction. Let’s get started with the Q and A session. Again, if you’re a part of our Patreon, you will have the opportunity to cast a vote on what kinds of questions will be asked and what kinds of illustrations will be drawn during these streams.
Hiromi and Mago are explaining that Mago’s drawing is an interesting line-up of characters. You don’t usually see these two characters together because they’re obviously the same character.
I have a question from Paul Schmidt: “Mago-san, I noticed you're only credited as the character designer and with ending illustrations on Space Patrol Luluco in Anime News Network's (ANN) encyclopedia, yet on your Twitter profile introduction, you list Kill la Kill, so I was wondering how you were involved with Kill la Kill? The reason I ask is because I personally submitted the staff and company credits to the ANN encyclopedia page for Kill la Kill, and your name (まご) is not credited in any episode, at least according to the corresponding page on the アニメスタッフデータベース [staff database].”
So, Mago says that she wrote Kill la Kill on her profile because she was responsible for one of the back illustrations for the Blu-ray/DVD jacket and was also in charge of the small SD characters for merchandise. That’s why she wrote about her involvement in Kill la Kill on her Twitter profile.
What is an SD character? I think SD stands for “Small Deformed” or “Super Deformed.” I’m not too sure. If that’s not the term used in English, I’m very sorry. Please tell me the term used in English. It’s Super Deformed?
So, Hiromi says that it’s called Super Deformed or SD in Japan because it started out originally from Gundam or Macross, which had a mini-mech series called “Super Deformed.” Hiromi suggests that you should stop calling the designs “chibi” and use the term “SD” because that’s the term that the proper anime industry uses! [Laughing.]
I guess Mago is going to take her time on the color and make a very Canvas illustration.
We have a question from Chen Luohan (I’m sorry if I mispronounce your name): “Hi Trigger! The production of anime fascinates me. What is the pipeline in the production of an anime series? What do you consider first when starting out with the ideas? Story? Character? Settings? Thank you very much!”
Wakabayashi says that they come up with a concept and foundation for what kind of series they want to make first. The concept might be something very, very broad, like family love or family bonding. Imaishi might be simpler; he might just want an anime with drills and that’s it. Once Trigger has that keyword—for example, Gurren Lagann would be “drill”—Trigger gets together to brainstorm how to make an interesting story from the one keyword, like “drill” in the case of Gurren Lagann.
Mago says she’s never put too much thought into her style formation. She generally likes drawing illustrations with very few shadows and lines. Before she knew it, she came up with her current style.
Hiromi noticed that Mago likes to clean up or refine her lines. She says that she cleans up where she feels like it! Mago says that she thought it might be more interesting for the viewers if she’s working on various parts of the illustration rather than concentrating on one part.
Mago and a few of our studio staffs went to Comic Fiesta, a decently large event in Malaysia. The event was a few months ago, I believe, during the Christmas season, but we were talking about how it’s actually summer during winter in Malaysia, so the event was very warm.
All three of us are saying that if we’re invited to a local event, we’ll most likely come out if it’s not conflicting with our schedule. This year, we want to try various places and go outside of the States more, to anywhere in Europe, Asia, etc.
We have an interesting question from EiGi696969: “Mago, do you have any interest in directing? Would you like to direct an anime one day?”
Mago says that she has no interest. She is a manga artist as well. She explains that when she draws a manga, she has to do everything; she has to come up with the story and concepts, which is like directing. It’s a lot of work. She doesn’t think she enjoys it too much.
For example, Mago says that it’s hard to motivate herself when she’s coming up with a story because she wants to... If she’s told to draw a manga, she tries to draw a character she’s currently interested in drawing. It’s hard for her to draw a pre-existing character that she’s told to draw.
A while ago, Mago was drawing a series of manga that featured Studio Trigger. The manga was about the daily nonsense of Studio Trigger. I think it was published through Utek Magazine [sp?]. Mago likes doing that kind of diary-type manga, she thinks.
We have a question from reportas1: “What are your favorite characters that you have drawn?”
Mago enjoys drawing Luluco the most. She also enjoys drawing Mako from Kill la Kill.
Wakabayashi says that they receive a lot of questions about DARLING in the FRANXX, asking if they are satisfied with the story and ending.
Studio Trigger’s general stance, as a studio, is that they basically try to give an idea to the director. The director, Nishigori Atsushi, usually comes up with a concept or idea that he wants to do. The studio gives him feedback and sees if he likes the feedback. The director obviously makes the final call. It’s very hard to say if Studio Trigger “liked” the ending sequence of DARLING in the FRANXX or not, Wakabayashi says.
Sorry, there was a misunderstanding! We’re not talking about the ending sequence. Wakabayashi did the production for the ending sequence of DARLING in the FRANXX, so he’s super satisfied with that! If the question is about the how the story was wrapped up, Wakabayashi says that the ending is the director’s choice, and he doesn’t think that it’s right of Studio Trigger to comment on how the story wrapped up.
There’s a question from Patreon’s Bill Erak: “How involved is Trigger in the dubbing process of their shows? I've heard of directors that sometimes get involved in dubs, but that's more of an exception. I ask because KLK had an amazing dub, Luluco's was pretty dope too, while LWA's sucks. Are those things left to whoever distributes it on the west? Can't you, Tattun, maybe check the dubs, and if they suck, tell them so that they change them?”
So, I thought this was a pretty interesting question. To this day, I don’t think many Japanese studios or production committees give much thought into this matter. Studio Trigger obviously doesn’t check or even receive a notice for a revision of the dubbing process. Wakabayashi says that he thinks that, if they made a request to the dubbers and distributors overseas to check on the dubbing process and auditions, they might be able to comment. However, distributors don’t even ask if the studio is satisfied with their work, so Wakabayashi guesses that it’s just very unnatural—or there’s no previous incidence—for a studio or production committee to comment on the dubbing process.
If given the opportunity, Studio Trigger would like to direct their dubbing as well, though, Wakabayashi says. Wakabayashi says that he would like Inferno Cop to be dubbed by Leonardo DiCaprio! [Laughing.]
tigermac from Twitch asks: “Mago, how many sketchbooks have you filled up since the start of your art career?”
Mago says that she doesn’t have a sketchbook! I guess she doesn’t really practice. She likes to doodle on her PC, and if it turns out well, she’ll share it on her Twitter. If not, she’ll usually toss out the files.
Whatever illustration or doodle Mago feels satisfied with is updated on her Twitter, so please check out her Twitter. I’ll post her Twitter on the YouTube upload as well, so please check that out if you’re interested, but I’m sure it’s not too difficult to find Mago’s Twitter if you just Google “Mago.” We have a couple of viewers posting Mago’s Twitter now!
I guess Mago is having a little trouble drawing Trigger-chan. Mago doesn’t draw Trigger-chan too often. She’s going to redo the drawing from the rough draft portion, she says.
There’s a question from Patreon, from Harry Bonyari (very sorry if I mispronounce your name): “I know you’re a big fan of sneakers. How do you let your interest in fashion inform your work?”
Mago says that she’s not too keen on fashion, but she does like sneakers. When she feels like drawing particular sneakers, she’ll usually draw the character in some kind of cool clothes to go with the sneakers. However, she doesn’t know if she lets her choice of fashion affect her work too much.
There’s a question from Cesar A. Morillo: “Is Inferno Cop Season 2 coming either this year or next?”
There’s no ETA for Inferno Cop, says Wakabayashi. It’s ready when it’s ready. If Studio Trigger focused on Inferno Cop, they would have to delay Promare, and Wakabayashi is sure that you don’t want that! He’s sure that you’d prefer to watch Imaishi’s and Amemiya’s new actual series instead!
Wakabayashi says that the studio has a lot of ideas for Inferno Cop 2, though. In every creative meeting for other projects, they usually get derailed and talk about Inferno Cop. They are waiting for the opportunity to utilize their ideas. Maybe Mago’s SD designs will be featured in the new Inferno Cop season, Wakabayashi says! [Laughing.]
There’s a question from Ben Veltri: “For Mago: In terms of drawing ability, how do animators and illustrators differ? Do you think illustrators are better?”
Okay, so we got some pretty interesting answers! This was a question from Patreon, again.
So, I guess, the question was, in terms of drawing abilities, how do animators and illustrators differ, and which is better? Hiromi and Mago said that the two jobs are different and can’t be compared; different skills are involved. An animator has to draw a character or object from every angle and in motion. An illustrator is meant to express with one single illustration, which might be hard for an animator to do—to convey a message with a single illustration. It’s very hard to compare. Mago says that she feels like it’s harder for an animator to acquire their set of skills, though.
EiGi696969, your question is interesting. It doesn’t hurt to answer your question twice. The question is, “What is your stance on piracy? Does it cost the studio any money when people pirate their anime? Do you think it’s a necessary evil? Do you think it’s something that will go away or get worse in the future?”
I guess Hiromi is saying that nowadays, there are so many different streaming services that everyone can watch what people in Japan can watch. In the past, that wasn’t the case, though. A lot of anime weren’t made available for much of the anime community. Those people had to illegally download, view, or stream anime elsewhere. Also, those people supported the community. Hiromi does agree that piracy is a necessary evil (or used to be).
Hiromi is speaking about an ideal situation, but even if you did watch Studio Trigger’s works illegally, he says to please watch it on a legit streaming service as well because it leads to success for the general industry.
We got a question from faux_wizard from Reddit, I believe. By the way, thank you for your help a while back. The question is: “How did Mago end up working alongside Trigger?”
Okay, so this goes pretty back in the days. Wakabayashi was working on... There’s this idol unit called Emitsu Private Middle School [sp?]. Uh, I’m sorry. There’s this talent, named Ai Ai [sp?]. There was an offer to do an illustration on her; Wakabayashi had an offer to draw her, and Wakabayashi talked to Nishigori Atsushi, the director for DARLING in the FRANXX and character designer for Gurren Lagann, about how this person named Mago draws really cute girls.
So, Wakabayashi and Nishigori thought that Mago’s illustration style was cute, so they asked Mago to do a comic spin-off about Ai Ai. Mago agreed. Two months later, the studio started working on Kill la Kill and asked Mago if she was interested in creating the official SD designs for Kill la Kill. Ever since then, Mago has been working on various Studio Trigger titles.
It’s been maybe roughly seven years, Hiromi says, that they’ve been working with Mago. They’ve been working with Mago since before they were making anime series. It’s been a long time! Mago is the studio’s go-to person when they need a cute design, Wakabayashi says.
Wakabayashi says that when they were coming up with Space Patrol Luluco, which was their fifth-year anniversary anime title, they approached Mago. It was kind of a joke series at the same time as well.
There’s a question from cataphractz: “Do any of you have a particular anime character you like outside of Trigger?”
Mago’s favorite character outside of Trigger works is this pirate character from Nintama Rantarou. Have you ever heard of Nintama Rantarou? The series is about these little ninjas in training. The anime is very, very… it airs every day on NHK. It’s a longtime-running series in Japan. Mago’s favorite character’s name is Atoi, the pirate. He only appears about once a year in the series. Mago made a lot of doujin.
I guess Hiromi is going to Google some fan illustrations that Mago posted.
So, we were discussing that it’s hard to come up with a character that we like. We have so many characters that we like! We thought it might be easier to think of a character we that we like from a series we recently watched. Hiromi didn’t know! He couldn’t think of any off the top of his head, so he told me to go first!
The studio boss, Masahiko Ohtsuka, bought Porco Rosso on Blu-ray recently, and I watched it. That film has always been one of my more favorite Ghibli films. It’s like waifu wars! You guys get new waifus every month. I don’t get new waifus that frequently; it’s hard to choose from all the numerous waifus. I recently watched Porco Rosso. I liked Fio. Porco is awesome as well, but Fio is smashing cute. At the moment, I like Fio. That’s what I was trying to say to Hiromi.
Mago says that she likes SpongeBob because it’s such a cute and funny show. She likes Gary, the cat-like snail!
Hiromi says that he likes Gwen more for Spider-Verse.
All right, this question is from Kuribo4: “Did you know Luluco would turn into Trigger when you designed her? Love your characters!”
So, Wakabayashi says that this goes a little bit back. They kind of neck-wrote their mascot characters 5-6 years ago. They wanted to do an April Fools’ joke. At the time, the mascot characters didn’t have names, but they just went with “Trigger Girls” for the joke. The joke was about making a new anime series about the Trigger Girls. The illustration for the joke was drawn by Mago.
Then, a few years later, they had the opportunity to do Space Patrol Luluco. Hiromi personally wanted to link that series with Trigger Girls. That’s also the reason why he wanted Mago to be the character designer for Luluco. Wakabayashi says that he wanted Luluco to transform into Trigger Girl in the end. He made a special request to director Imaishi and pushed for Mago to be the designer.
Luluco has a weird pigtail, Wakabayashi says. Hiromi says he made the request specifically to Mago because he wanted the pigtail to turn into… I don’t know how “ahoge” translates. It’s like a bad hair day? I don’t know what it is! We call it ahoge! I hope that answers your question, Kuribo! I see the term “cowlick” for “ahoge.”
Mago is currently doing a stage performance in Osaka. The script is done by Nakashima Kazuki. I’m assuming it’s doing well. It’s a pretty popular title.
This question is from Patreon. The user name is Grandpa: “Waka-Sama, when are we getting another Promare trailer?”
Wakabayashi is explaining that you can expect a new trailer in the near future, very soon.
[In response to unvoiced questions on the chat log about pizza.] So, Wakabayashi likes pizza and coke. Mago doesn’t really have a favorite type of pizza. I wondered if she supported pineapple on pizza. She’s indifferent, so I’m guessing she’s okay with pineapple on pizza.
So, everybody says that Galo from Promare looks really close to Kamina from Gurren Lagann. Wakabayashi is curious if people really think that way. Why don’t people think that Galo looks like Mikisugi if we’re thinking about half-naked guys with blue hair, Wakabayashi asks?
Wakabayashi says that Galo’s hairstyle is very natural if you think about his profession, which is firefighting. When running into a fire, there is a lot of hot air coming up, and that’s why Galo’s hair is always spiked up. There’s almost a buzz on the side because the hair on the side burns off!
So, no_04, I’ve seen your name on Twitter a few times. I think you follow me on Twitter. You strike a good point. Galo is basically Panty’s hair with Kamina.
So, again, no_04 made a good point, Wakabayashi says. Panty is the main character of Panty and Stocking. Galo is obviously the main character of Promare. If you notice, when Ryuko gets her Kisaragi outfit in the final episode, her hair is kind of spiked upwards, too. In all of Imaishi’s work, his main characters have this spiky hair. Even before Imaishi was a professional, he had a fan manga with a character whose hair spiked up as well. The hairstyle is an icon for a main character in Imaishi’s work. The hairstyle represents Imaishi’s stance to rebel against whatever is oppressing him. That’s why a lot of the characters—especially main characters—have spiky hair in Imaishi’s works.
I have a question from maxie721 who asks, “What about Mago? Any special features in her characters?”
Mago answers that she doesn’t really have any special features in her characters. When she tries to think too deeply, things don’t work out; she feels like she restricts herself too much, and it kind of kills the illustration on a whole.
There’s a question from Tony on Patreon that asks, “Would Studio Trigger ever do a “Basics of a Trigger Animation” tutorial on a live stream?”
Wakabayashi says the content in a Trigger animation tutorial would be pretty lecture-like and might not be too entertaining. There is a producer at Trigger who likes doing tutorials, though, and goes to colleges to do so. They would need a different line of staff to do a tutorial, however.
For those who want to know how to draw in general, Wakabayashi says, these kinds of streams are basically a cheat guide for you guys, which is why we do it. We make the streams available for later. If you don’t have time to watch a 2-3-hour stream, we make an edited version available for later. We should upload the stream within a few days. However, we haven’t uploaded the March stream yet because the tech staff has been too busy. We’ll hopefully get to it soon. If you’re a Patreon supporter, we provide .psd files for these illustrations, which is even more of a reference to work with for those who are interested. Please do check it out!
There was a question earlier on our Twitch chat log. The question was something along the lines of, “I saw one of the rougher illustrations or rough takes on Lalaco Godspeed. Why did you decide on short, bob-like hair for Lalaco?”
Wakabayashi says the answer is that Lalaco had a big fur coat and didn’t want the hair to overlap with that coat. Also, in terms of the design process for animation, Wakabayashi says that shorter-haired girls tend to be perceived as more energetic or active. Girls with longer hair tend to be perceived more as… I have to choose my words properly. They’re not docile. That’s a bad word! [Laughing] “Calm” or “reserved” would be what I’m thinking of. Short hair was used, Wakabayashi says, because Lalaco’s obviously a very aggressive person, and they thought the short hair would better portray her personality.
There’s a question from no_04: “Was it difficult for Mago-san to adapt Gridman or the kaiju to the SD style for the line stickers?”
Mago says that the kaiju was not very hard for her. She had more trouble redesigning Gridman and his other mechs. So, Mago can draw monsters and kaiju because they’re basically animals, she says. However, she has trouble drawing mechs and robots.
So, Hiromi was asking if Mago was having trouble redesigning this black object that the studio asked her to draw (and of which he can’t give too many details about).
So, this was a question from berikpo: “What are Mago’s favorite accessories to wear and to draw?”
Mago’s answer was sneakers. She likes Nike Air Force 1 in particular. However, the one she owns most are Air Jordans.
We have a question from Kikoman589: “Has Mago’s childhood or upbringing influenced her art in any way?”
When Mago was very young, her first manga she ever bought was Urusei Yatsura. She feels like she was pretty heavily influenced from that series. She used to copy from that book a lot and drew her own illustrations.
I asked Mago about why she doesn’t draw any male characters. I was curious if she doesn’t like drawing males. She doesn’t! She likes drawing girls! Hiromi asked about Nova, who is a guy. Mago says that that’s the reason for there not being much passion.
I guess I got it a little wrong, but Mago doesn’t like drawing male characters. Old dudes are out of the question. Luluco’s father was actually designed by another of the main animators.
This question was from k3shanberk. They ask when Mago committed to a career of drawing.
Mago says she hasn’t really committed herself to drawing yet. If she gets offers for her illustrations or her designs, she thinks she can get herself into another line of work immediately.
Last year, Mago felt she needed to take a little break from drawing to gain a bit of sanity. She worked part-time at a shoe store for a while.
Mago’s nickname was “Mago” when she was younger. She just picked that up as her penname or handle for illustration. I don’t think she feels comfortable sharing her full name.
Ex_trident asks, “Any kind of media you guys are into lately? Like a specific movie, a song, novels, or even games?”
I guess Hiromi is into Legos right now. Hiromi bought some kind of kit for Lego Movie 2. The film isn’t available in Japan right now. He’s too busy to build it because he has to work on Promare. If Hiromi has time, he wants to make vehicles or mechs from Promare with his Lego kits.
I guess Mago was playing Fortnite on iPad. I didn’t even know you could play that on iPad! I’m surprised! Again, I’m surprised that Fortnite is playable on iPad.
Hiromi says that maybe they’ll do some streaming on the Kill la Kill game when the game is released. Maybe Mago can stop by and play as well, he says!
There’s another question from no_04: “Is Wakabayashi planning to continue Panty and Stocking with Garterbelt: CEMETERY HILLS story where Nova means Panty and Brief in the end?”
By the way, Hiromi would like to inform everyone that CEMETERY HILLS is not a Panty and Stocking series. There is no relation with Panty and Stocking, but he would like to continue.
Sorry, there is a relationship between the two. In Panty and Stocking, the main character is Panty, but in CEMETERY HILLS, the main character is Geekboy; that’s the distinction. Hiromi would like to make a sequel. In the next sequel, Hiromi would like to introduce gun morphing like in Space Patrol Luluco in Panty and Stocking as well. He would like to see Panty transform into a gun!
There’s a question from evsanata: “Does Mago have any favorite artists? Who are the artists that have inspired her and influenced shaping her art?
I think we answered the later part of this question already. We’ll answer the first half now. Mago’s favorite illustrator and animator is Akiman. Mago’s first encounter with Akiman was over the Internet. There was a special forum where Akiman regularly converses with his fans, and that’s where Mago first met him. At that time, Akiman was looking for an assistant to help him with his series. Mago took that job and was helping Akiman for quite a bit.
Mago doesn’t remember how long she had that job. However, ever since she helped Akiman out, they have been in contact with each other. As such, Akiman has been a good moral support for Mago ever since the job.
totallynotnameddan says, “It was unclear from your phrasing. Is this supposed to detail the origin of gun morphing ‘cause that would be cool?”
I’m sorry if it was unclear. Hiromi wanted to make Panty able to transform into a gun with gun morphing as well.
How many of you have visited Comic Market? Have you visited Mago’s booth for Comic Market?
InfectedAdri asks, “Mago-san, how’s your dog doing?”
Mago says her dog is doing well. I guess she took her Chihuahua grooming, and now the dog is looking like a baby. There are two types of Chihuahuas, she explained. The one that I’m familiar with has short hair, so I wondered if Chihuahuas really need grooming. She says there are two types: one with long hair and one with short hair. Her Chihuahua has long hair, so if she doesn’t take her dog to grooming every once in a while, he has dingleberries, where the poop gets stuck in the hair. He needs regular maintenance.
ThexIncinerator asks, “What are the next conventions lined up for you guys? Will Mago be appearing at any of them?”
Wakabayashi says that he doesn’t think they’ve announced any of their 2019 events yet. They haven’t visited many conventions because they’ve been working on Promare. As soon as they finish Promare, they’ll probably make their presence at various cons. Mago is planning to appear at Comitia, which is a lot smaller than Comic Market and only allows original titles.
Personally, I like Comitia better than Comic Market.
It is Mago’s birthday in April, so she plans to do a birthday event! She will probably announce that. She wants to be pampered once in a while.
PraQnickstream asks, “Where can we find the dates of those comic events?”
Just Google Comitia. It takes place four times a year, so it’s a pretty frequent event.
Mago’s birthday is on April 11th. It might be on a different date! Mago doesn’t have too much of a pleasant memory… in Japan, you change your grade level every April. In April, you have a new class with new classmates. It’s hard to have a welcoming environment even if it’s your birthday. Mago didn’t have a very cheerful experience.
Ulric10 asks, “Idk if you’re gonna answer this, but could I have some tips for drawing like you?”
Mago says to draw what interests you and what you want to draw. So, if you just simply want to draw for your own entertainment, Mago says, draw just what pleases you. However, Mago says that if you want to get good at drawing, you should draw your own manga. You’ll be forced to draw various angles and backgrounds that you probably wouldn’t enjoy drawing otherwise, so you’ll gain experience.
There’s a question from NeoCoill from Patreon: What is Trigger's stance when it comes to creators making profit through fanworks of Trigger’s characters and shows (e.g. Doujinshi sold at Comiket or digitally)?
So, Hiromi thinks that it’s similar to cosplay...
Mago finished drawing! This is the final illustration! The illustration will be available on our Patreon page. If you’re interested, please do support us. All of the money goes to our creators, illustrators, and character designers who make guest appearances to our streams. None of the money goes to the studio. The support is appreciated.
Let’s finish up the question. Hiromi was saying that it’s similar to cosplay. If they shut out every aspect of fan community activities, it kind of halts the growth of their content as well. Even though they came up with the designs and concepts of these characters, for people who sell doujin and fanart, they are ultimately the ones drawing the individual art pieces. He doesn’t think that it’s right to say that it’s not their work to sell. Hirmoi personally doesn’t have anything against doujin or fanarts. He’s genuinely happy about people drawing their characters. If that’s what people do, they should continue to do it, he says.
Mago is happy to see her characters on other people’s doujins. She thinks that if you draw, it would be awesome to draw more of her characters in your doujins and illustrations.
We would like to ask Mago what her selling point for her illustration today is.
So, when Mago usually receives a commission or request for illustration, there’s always an offer from the client talking about the proportions of the characters, and these proportions are made pretty specific. It’s hard to organize these proportions. Today, Mago drew two characters who are basically the same character and have the same proportions. Mago is proud that the two characters are in the same proportion and will pat her own back!
This will be our last stream until maybe June. We need to concentrate on the production for Promare. We will take maybe two months off from our stream activity, but we will continue our smaller activities on Patreon. We upload the monthly shikishi for our supporters to see and will continue to do that. The livestreaming will have to wait until June when we finish Promare, though.
Thank you for coming to our stream. I bet it’s like 5:00 am on the west or east coast.
Would you guys watch if we streamed like random people from Studio Trigger playing games? We were curious. For example, would you like to see me and Hiromi play Apex? We might be able to do those kind of stupid—not stupid; I mean non-creative—streams in the near future. We’ll have to stop on the illustration streams until June, but there’s a big response for these gaming streams, so we might have to do that!
All right. That will be it for tonight’s stream. Thank you for your participation. Have a good night, everyone.

HC: Disney movies
Viktor has a penchant for Disney movies and their soundtracks. He discovered them relatively late in life, having been brought up in post-Soviet Russia, but when he did, he started pestering Yakov about letting him skate to Tale As Old As Time. He was young enough for Yakov to get to say no and being actually listened to.
Now that the live action Beauty and the Beast movie is out, however, his interest has been rekindled, and he has started thinking about making an Ice Show with all the music from the live action movie starring their ice-skating friends (it would be different from a Disney on Ice as it would focus on a single movie, telling the story from beginning to end).
He is thinking of staging it at the end of his last season, as a grandiose way to usher himself out of the competitive stage and set up his next steps after his retirement (he is considering works as choreographer between his options).
Even though he hasn’t talked about it to anyone (he wants to keep competing for at least 5 more years after his return to the ice), he is already working through the possible choreagraphies in his mind, and has already assigned parts in his head:
Yuuri as Belle
himself as the Beast
that one Canadian skater JJ as Gaston
Chris as Le Fou
Yurio as Lumière
Georgi as Cogsworth
Mila as Mrs. Potts
Phichit as the Fairy
The Nishigori triplets as Chip
Otabek as the Librarian and Belle’s father

i do not like darling in the franxx at all, and i really wish studio triggers name wasnt attached to it bc so many people who hate it just assume its a trigger show and blame them for a lot of what they dislike about it, when its really nothing to do with them at all. their involvement essentially amounts to little more than a contracted support studio for animation on only some of the episodes, and they aren’t even on the main production committee in charge of the show.
franxx is atsushi nishigori’s baby that he teamed up with aniplex to create, with majority of the work being done at one of aniplex’s A-1 pictures subsidiary studios that recently rebranded as ‘cloverworks’. trigger hasnt even so much as spent a single yen of their own on this project, and basically they were brought on board to assist cloverworks with some of the episodes and to have hiroyuki imaishi and his keen sense for mecha action direct the action animation. (as well as likely to attach their name to the project to drum up some extra interest from people like me, who otherwise would probably not have even given the show a 2nd glance when announced).
i love studio trigger, but i understand that not everybody does. i know they aren’t for everyone, and you’re well within your rights to dislike them all you like, for their own work, but please dont blame them for darling in the franxx. blame nishigori for creating this trainwreck.

and i broke my heart in two (one for me, one for you)
by @ofviktor
Summary:
“Yes, Yuuri,” he says and moves to brush his lips across Yuuri’s temple.
He can’t bring himself to pull away yet. Pulling away would mean he’ll have to go back to his room and sleep alone knowing that a few floors down the man whose Words he has on his chest is asleep.
“I’ll be yours for as long you want me to be.”
A silence settles over them then and he wonders if Yuuri finally fell asleep but when he pulls away Yuuri is looking at him with the softest expression he’s ever seen and he finds himself hopelessly lost in those eyes. Yuuri reaches up after a moment and caresses his cheeks with a kind of reverence that leaves him breathless.
“Forever then,” Yuuri murmurs.

BTMH: Chapter 20: Seagulls
Tumblr media
Back in St. Petersburg, Jongho was practicing a spin while Lilia observed him.
“No! No! Not like that at all!” Lilia said.
Jongho gritted his teeth. He was very irritated. He had been practicing all day, and he was exhausted. Even though he was in the senior division, he was still a child, and he needed breaks. Lilia was pushing him to his breaking point.
“Through yourself away! Your past self is dead! People who can be reborn as many times as necessary are the strong ones,” Lilia said.
Jongho nodded before leaping.
Back at Ice Castle, Y/N was standing on the ice, very sweaty. Seonghwa stood across from her, outside the rink.
“What? You still haven’t chosen the music? Why can’t you trust your own decisions? Just try to remember something like when a boyfriend loved you,” Seonghwa said.
“Huh?” Y/N said harshly. Y/N realized how she reacted and immediately became embarrassed. She had the worst habit of getting snappy when she was nervous, and unfortunately it happened while she was talking with Seonghwa. Her hands started to shake out of pure nervousness. “S-sorry! Right now, it’s just that I-.” Y/N put her hands on her head.
“Oh, right. You’ve never had a boyfriend,” Seonghwa said.
Y/N looked down at her feet out of embarrassment.
For a while, the nervousness Y/N was experiencing caused her to be distant from everyone.
“Y/N, let’s go somewhere today,” Seonghwa said.
“No, it’s okay,” Y/N said.
“Y/N, let’s go take a bath,” Seonghwa said.
“I’m going to sleep,” Y/N said.
“Alright, let’s go to sleep together,” Seonghwa said as he stood in the doorway of Y/N’s room
Y/N’s face was void of emotion as she got up from the bed and shut the door.
Eventually, Y/N hid under the covers of her bed as Seonghwa waited at Ice Castle Hasetsu. She sat up and let out a loud sigh. “I can’t stand this guilt!” She said.
She heard the door open and looked up. Seonghwa stood in the doorway, a shadow making it hard to see the look he had on his face.
“Good morning, Y/N. Let’s go to the ocean,” Seonghwa said.
Y/N turned around hesitantly to look at him. “Okay…” She said.
The two made their way to the beach. Seagulls cries echoed throughout the beach as they flew overhead. It was cloudy, but small rays of sunlight managed to peak through the clouds, which prevented it from being as cold as you would expect it to be. Y/N had brought a towel to sit on and placed it on the ground. She sat on one side while Seonghwa sat next to her.
Seonghwa had on his signature brown trench coat and a scarf, while Y/N had on a blue sweatshirt with the words “Japan” between two red lines, and a japan flag in the top left corner. It was one of the items she’d wear to a competition to show what team she was with.
She got the sweatshirt when she was 20 since she was competing in the Winter Olympics as a figure skater for Japan. She competed in the Women’s Singles category and won first place. People believed this was due to her including jumps not normally used in women’s figure skating. There was a lot of controversy surrounding her win because of the fact she used jumps only done by male skaters. People believed it wasn’t fair for her to win since she was a co-ed competitive skater and was used to doing jumps primarily done by the male skaters. Of course, nothing came from the controversy and she brought home a gold medal for Japan. This was why she was still competing even after the normal skating season ended for her that year.
Makkachin was sitting between Seonghwa and Y/N, while Y/N hugged her knees to her chest. Every now and then the wind caused their hair to go all over the place.
“Oh, seagulls. Black-tailed gulls. Ever since I came here, I’m reminded of St. Petersburg when I hear seagulls in the early morning. I never thought I’d leave that city, so I never used to notice the seagulls’ cries. Do you ever have times like that?” Seonghwa asked.
Y/N gazed out at the ocean, nodding as she did so. “Yes. Before I moved to Detroit, I never noticed how pretty the snow was here when it would come during winter. Once I got to Detroit and saw the snow not looking as nice as it did here, I realized I never noticed how beautiful the snow here was.”
“When people don’t think they’ll leave what they know, they don’t take a time to appreciate the things there, and then when they finally realize they never appreciated them, it’s too late,” Seonghwa said.
“There was a guy in Detroit who was really pushy and kept talking to me. One time, a rink mate got into an accident. I was pretty torn up with worry… I was in the hospital waiting room with that guy. When he hugged me to comfort me, I shoved him away without thinking about it,” Y/N said.
Seonghwa looked over at her and saw her gazing at the ocean. Seonghwa had so much admiration in his eyes it was almost dripping, but Y/N never noticed since she wasn’t looking at him. He had always thought she was the best of the best. The cream of the crop. That is also part of the reason why he decided to come and be her coach. She had so much potential, and he didn’t want it to go to waste.
“Wow, why?” He asked.
“I didn’t want him to think I was feeling unsettled. I felt like he was intruding on my feelings or something, and I hated it. But then I realized Minako, Nishigori, Yuuko, and my family never treated me like a weakling. They all had faith that I’d keep growing as a person, and they never stepped over the line,” Y/N said.
Seonghwa finally understand. Y/N hated losing. She hated people thinking she was weak. No wonder she had been so upset when she lost. She absolutely hated it. She knew she could do better and the fact that she didn’t was what upset her. This was the girl that had won a gold medal at the Olympics. Losing at the Grand Prix Final must’ve been the straw that broke the camels back and led to her almost retiring.
“Y/N, you’re not weak. No one else thinks that, either,” Seonghwa said. He rested his hand on her shoulder in a way meant to comfort her. “What do you want me to be to you? A father figure?”
“No,” Y/N said, shaking her head.
“A brother, then? A friend?” Seonghwa said.
Y/N murmured, making a noise that sounded like she was disagreeing.
“Then, your boyfriend, I guess,” Seonghwa said.
Y/N’s face turned bright red and she practically jumped into the air.
“I can try my best,” Seonghwa said. He took in a deep breath and decided now was the perfect time to address what had happened when she was drunk. “Before you say anything, I need to say something.”

Yuuri Katsuki, Victor Nikiforov, Takeshi & Yuuko Nishigori are a good polyship that deserves attention.
Yuuri have been friends with Yuuko and Takeshi since he was very young, I would argue that he’s had a crush on those two since then. I swear Takeshi even flirted and complimented Yuuri while they were adults.
Tumblr media
(I MEAN LOOK AT TAKESHI LOOK AT YUURI, LOOK AT THE PASSION IN TAKESHI’S EYES)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(THE NISHIGORIS ARE YOUR FAMILY, YUURI, IT’S OBVIOUS THEY LOVE YOU) If they’re polyshipped all get together, Yuuri & Victor would now be dads to Axel, Lutz, and Loop. Imagine Yuuri and Victor being dads to these girls! The girls who brought those two lovers togethers with that video leaks of Yuuri’s skate. Please acknowledge how pure and magical that is! I’d tempted to say that their polyship name should be Victuurigori or Victuurishiko.
