Break Open the Sky, a Tales of Symphonia ‘fic (Chapter 11)
Current Word Count: 88,519 Summary: What kind of “Hero” of Regeneration would she be to leave an infant to fend for itself? Someone had to have left it here for a reason. The question was, of course, why? But as she lifted the little thing carefully into her arms, the motion reminding her of nights so far in the past, now, the why seemed almost tragically clear: this baby was of mixed blood. Chapter Summary: Raine and Regal both try to navigate whatever weird relationship they have going on...and Sheena comes to town! Pairing/Characters: Raine, Original Characters, will also feature Genis, Regal, and Sheena. Endgame is Regal/Raine. Extra Info: This is technically an Accidental Baby Acquisition story, but I liken it more to “Doorstep Baby” literature because it sure ain’t cute. Rating: Mature, for themes. Genre: Eventual romance, gen, family, character study.
The title is the link to Ao3 for Chapter 11! Please enjoy the second longest chapter in the story! 🤍
Notes are under the cut!
The opening scene to this chapter, with Raine saying Regal sounds terrible but low-key thinkin’ it’s hot, is pulled hilariously enough from one of the funniest experiences I’ve ever had at my current job, where a male coworker was talking close to my desk and the person who sat across from me thought it was someone new/she hadn’t met yet and messaged me on the in-office chat app and asked who the deep and sexy voice belonged to. I had to sadly inform her it was our accountant, whose voice had gone down like four octaves with his illness and was completely unrecognizable.
--
“I would like to love you better, but you have to let me.” I’m proud of this line, actually. I feel like this pretty much encompasses everything these two characters have been wrestling with for the last two and a half years.
He wants to know her so that he can love her better. And she’s a bit afraid of that, because years ago she was a waste of someone’s time and she doesn’t want to be that for him.
Also, we finally get to the core of Raine’s issues on a more general level: she always feels she loves people incorrectly. It’s either too little or too much. It’s out of her control, and she hates not being in control. It makes her feel powerless and bad.
--
“Those We Meet in Heaven” is a spoof on “The Five People You Meet in Heaven” and the dance scene Regal references is a scene in the actual book. The novel is exactly what it says it is in the title: it’s about a man who dies and the 5 people he meets in heaven. These five guide him through…almost like an orientation, and many of them are people he doesn’t expect. They all are there to teach him some kind of lesson that “makes all the difference.” The fourth person the main character meets is his wife who died at 47 of cancer. Her heaven is being able to attend different weddings day in and out, and when it’s time for him to receive his lesson from her, they are dancing at their own wedding.
This is the dance scene Regal mentions in his letter.
In it, the main character finally asks his wife why she looks like she did the day he married her, and she tells him “Because I thought you’d like it that way.”
He asks her to change it so that she looks like she did in “the end” and she does. They smile at each other and dance together tenderly. He wanted her to look the way she did in the end because that is the last time he saw her alive & the version of her he loves wholly and completely.
As Regal states in his letter, the novel itself is more about the choices people make and how small things can affect others, sometimes to startling and unknowing degrees. It’s meant to kind of harken back to the things the characters have done to change the world, and in a more meta sense, it works to call back to the previous chapter’s discussion about how no relationship is a waste of time.
Also: it took me FOREVER to get to this bookshelf he's been saving for her, it seems. Regal thought about it briefly in the chapter where he shows her the library.
--
Lila’s dream reveals everything we really need to know about some things people have been wondering about for a while…
And Raine is learning how to be a little more open with her feelings!

Windermere is here:

And finally we have Sheena! I didn’t want to add her character tag to the story until she was actually in it, and here she is!
And the last sentence. I wonder how many people saw that coming a mile away?

2 for the ask game! And... could I hear your 7 opinions on Aramis?
2. what in your fiction has turned out differently than you expected when you began? what has always remained the same?
Well, since this came from the general section of the questions, I’ll answer more broadly: I never expected to be writing solely for fun. I started writing as a kid/preteen for fun, yes, but always with the goal of being a published author very firmly in the back (or front) of my mind. When I won my first national contest at 14, that was just enough to make it seem like this goal could actually be a reality, and to ensure that for the next four years, I almost never wrote anything purely for fun again. I tailored everything I wrote to what I thought other people wanted to see, and in large part it worked: I won contest after contest, won money for what I wrote, got pieces published in magazines and even wrote a whole novel that got published through a small indie publisher. But because I was writing purely for external validation, I began to view it as a chore, as something I had to do bc I was “the star writer”, and that’s all.
Now whether you all think any of those accolades were deserved based on the quality of writing I share here is another story 😂 but also please know that I do not share that type of writing here. I agonized over every word and plot point, edited and edited again to the point where many times I was an inch away from deleting the whole thing and starting from scratch. Not all of this obsession with perfection was bad; I learned very valuable techniques and style choices that I still use to this day, but crucially, I can now use them in a way that satisfies me and no one else. Obviously I still plan and edit my work that I share here bc I take pride in it, but the process is so more relaxed. I have found a joy and freedom in creating (both on here and on vanilla fanfic) that I don’t even think I had when I started writing as a wee child.
Maybe one day I’ll write something and have it published again, but I’ve gotten to the point that I can honestly say I’m fine if I never do. That’s what’s changed, and for the better. I take pride in my writing, that part has stayed the same through it all, but the source of it has changed from how others value my work to how I value it.
(oops kinda deep for a snz blog)
7. do you have a favourite scene of theirs in canon, or in your own work? what scene have you always wanted to see or write for them?
Psh, “can you hear my opinions on Aramis”. I will give my opinions on Aramis whether they are prompted or not! (though thank you so much for asking ofc, and hyping up my obsession). So favorites, bc in my mind there are 3 subtly different versions of the guy that I love:
Book: The mf dropped-handkerchief-intro-scene, for obvious reasons (may have a bit of a handkerchief fetish on top of it all) but also since the little verbal sparring match he gets into with D’Artagnan here contains, in my opinion, some of the funniest lines in the book. Also love the part where he gets shot and tries to be brave about it but can’t carry on
Movie musical: the part where he sings and sniffs the damn handkerchief, my god, you absolutely insane man.
BBC show: The absolute whump-filled angst fest that is episode 4, because I am a terrible person.
In terms of my writing, though, I really love him in”A Routine Occurrence”, being a good friend but not being at all happy about it. Especially when he says he thinks he’s getting a fever 😈
In terms of what I’d like to see, though perhaps not write myself bc I’d be so out of my depth, would be what I’ve sort of danced around in my fics: him in bed with his mistress, getting a little spicy only to have to put it all on hold bc he’s dreadfully ill. Or, him picking up a cold from a lady who swears she’s recovered but really isn’t after all (but of course it’s all worth it to him, the daft man).

SIRIUS/REMUS PLAYING WITH PUPPIES WHILE ANSWERING FANS QUESTIONS
Please know that if we ever met in person, I would literally lift you off your feet and hug you for suggesting this. My afternoon was filled with adorable puppy videos because of this!
Sweater Weather credit goes to @lumosinlove!
“Can I have them?” Remus asked softly, staring at the person behind the camera with big, pleading eyes. “Please?”
“Do the introduction and then we’ll set ‘em loose,” Marlene said.
“Fine. Hey, everyone, welcome back to Lion Pride! I’m Remus Lupin and I’m here today to play with puppies.”
“And answer questions.”
“And answer questions,” he added. “Maybe, like, one or two in between snuggles.”
“You’re going to answer all of them,” Marlene said more firmly.
He rolled his eyes and took the lid off the jar of paper slips. “Can I have the puppies now?”
A door clicked open behind the camera and Remus lit up as four puppies tumbled into frame, racing straight for him. “Hello, babies!” he laughed as a tiny golden retriever jumped on his chest. “Oh, I love you so much. Come here, come here, let me give you kisses.”
“Question number one?” Marlene prompted as he began playing with them and rolling their toys around.
Remus sighed and pulled a question out. “What would I be doing if I didn’t become a hockey player? Physical therapy for su—ope, okay, you can have that one.”
The Irish Setter puppy growled playfully as they played a short game of tug-of-war until the paper tore.
“Oh no, it broke!” Remus exclaimed, giving the pup a scratch behind the ears while it chewed on the leftover scraps. “Yes, that’s all yours now. Next one: what is the best part about playing professional hockey? I get to do interviews like this.” One of the puppies, a medium-sized black one, began chewing on one of the laces of his Converse. “Excuse me—excuse me, young man, that’s my shoelace. Are you chewing it because it’s rainbow? Is this homophobia?”
“Remus.”
“Sorry.” He lifted the puppy into his arms and kissed his head. “Okay, munchkin, what’s next? What’s next? You’re so fucking cute, I just wanna squish you. Um, what’s the most common thing fans say when they meet me?” He laughed and the puppy licked his cheek. “Usually they look at me and go, ‘god, you’re tall’, which surprises people because I’m always around these gigantic guys. Do these dogs have names?”
“If I tell you their names, you’re going to get attached.”
“We have crossed, salted, and burned that bridge, Marley.”
“The one you’re holding is Mercutio, the red one is Juliet, the retriever is Pip, and the fluffy one on your lap is Lucie, after Lucie Manette.”
Remus’ jaw went slack. “They’re named after book characters?” he asked in a small voice.
“Yep.”
“Oh, no.” He reached out and pulled Juliet and Pip into his arms for a moment. “Oh, no, you all have to come home with me now. The next question is…would I ever do drag? Probably not, but I looked hot as fuck in eyeliner, so do with that what you will.”
“Which video was that?”
“It was the fear pong one, which I played with my fiancé and my friends James and Lily!” His voice pitched up as he turned to talk to Mercutio. “I did, buddy! It was so fun! Yes, it was!”
“Remus. Questions.”
“Right. What’s one of my weirdest or funniest fan encounters? There was this one lady, she was like forty-something, and she came up to me while I was at the post office and asks ‘are you Remus Lupin?’ and I said, ‘yes, that’s me’ and she’s like ‘from the Gryffindor Lions?’ and I said yes again and then she went—” He narrowed his eyes and nodded his head slowly. “—‘I knew you were gay. Good for you, kiddo’ and then left. It was the weirdest fucking thing, especially considering I had played, like, one game with the team by that point.”
“Are you serious?” Marlene asked.
“Totally honest. I never saw her again, either.” Juliet put her paws on the front of his Lions hoodie and began licking the edge of his jaw. “Hey, sweet girl, thank you for the kisses. Can I grab another question? No? Okay, we can stay here.”
Pip began yipping and Mercutio wiggled out of Remus’ hold, launching himself at the other dog with a tiny growl.
“Mercutio, no!” Remus gasped, scooting Juliet aside so he could put the two puppies under his arms. His hands were big enough to almost cover their whole bellies. “We’re not here to start fights, you two. Apologize.” They turned their heads to lick his cheeks. “I didn’t mean apologize to me, but okay. You’re so soft and warm, what the hell?”
“Next question?”
“What’s the craziest rumor I’ve heard about myself? A solid group of people thought I asked to be on the team, which isn’t true. I didn’t even know people were considering it until James and Lily’s wedding. Coach wanted it to be a surprise while he cleared it with the organization.” Remus shook his head and slowly petted Lucie as she napped on his thigh. “Is there a celebrity I’ve met that left me starstruck? Ha! Yes. There was a fundraiser a few months ago and Sam Neill was there, which I didn’t know until I turned around and he was about two feet away.”
“What did you do?”
Remus laughed and turned faintly pink. “Um, I made a sort of squeaking noise and he kinda chuckled, which was mortifying in and of itself. He goes, ‘hi, I’m Sam’ and I nodded because duh, he’s Sam fucking Neill, and then I mumbled something about Jurassic Park and he smiled and said, ‘son, you’re blocking the water’ and I just about died on the spot.”
“Did anyone see you?”
“Sirius was standing next to me the entire time and silently laughing his ass off. I saw them talking later, and when were about to drive home he hands me this napkin and it has Sam Neill’s autograph on it.”
“He didn’t,” Marlene gasped.
Remus nodded. “He did.”
“That’s the smoothest move I’ve ever heard of.”
“It was incredible.” Juliet waddled closer and nudged a red ball out from under Remus’ knee, which he picked up and tossed before taking out another question. “Do I appreciate when fans come up to me in public or is it annoying? Oh, it’s never annoying. It’s a little weird if I’m eating lunch somewhere or running errands and someone tries to sneak a picture, though. I love all the fans and it’s super fun talking to everyone, so please just come over and say hello instead of failing to be sneaky while I’ve got pizza grease on my face.”
“Even if you’re on a date?”
Remus snorted. “Okay, well, use some common sense. Pip—babycakes, stop trying to eat the questions. There we go.” He settled the puppy into his lap and rolled the ball for Juliet again. “In a movie about my life, who would I want to play me and Sirius?” He paused and looked at the camera. “I would want us to play ourselves, but only because neither of us can act and it would be so fucking funny to make the absolute worst movie.”
“Come on,” Marlene groaned.
“I’m being a hundred percent honest right now! I think it would be hilarious. We’d be terrible.” Juliet pawed at his arm insistently until he grabbed the ball, but she wouldn’t let it go and they ended up playing tug-of-war despite the fact that she had no traction on the floor and kept sliding around. “Aren’t you a feisty one, sweet girl! What is the most memorable moment of my life that I want to cherish forever? This. Right here, right now.”
“Really?”
“I have two dogs on my lap, one under my arm, and the other slobbering all over my hand. This is the best possible place to be. Wait, hang on a second.” Remus carefully lifted Lucie up and laid down, settling her on his abdomen as the other three clambered over to flop on him. “Oh, yeah, this is the peak of my entire life.”
“You’re not going to say your engagement? Maybe the day you started playing for the Lions?”
“Nope. The engagement was incredible and one of my favorite memories for sure, but I was shaking in my skates.”
“Just read the next question.”
“Okay! What’s my go-to karaoke song?” He hummed for a moment, then laughed as Lucie scooted up to rest her head under his chin. “I think it’s probably ‘I Wanna Dance with Somebody’ by Whitney Houston. Lily and I did a duet of that a year or so ago, and it rocked.”
Pip began gnawing on the cuff of his sweatshirt. “Pip,” Marlene scolded; her foot appeared in frame until Remus waved her off with a smile.
“It’s okay, he can chew if he wants to. It’s an old sweater anyway, and it’s not even mine!” He scratched behind Pip’s ears. “No, it’s not, peach-a-keen! You can go nuts with that as long as you’re cozy. What is…my favorite behind-the-scenes Lions moment? Our groupchat, no contest.”
“Does it have the whole team?”
“Most of us, yeah. You have to earn your spot.” Remus looked over at the camera and Lucie put her head on his neck. “Looks like I’ve been banned from turning my head now, huh?”
“Are you comfortable?”
“Marley, there are very few things that would make me happier than I am right now. I’m being slowly crushed by puppies and I get to cuddle them for free.” He reached blindly into the question jar. “This is a two-part question. Do I prefer big dogs or small dogs, and how is Hattie doing? I love all dogs, but I think I prefer big ones because they’re always so much fun, and I don’t feel like I’m accidentally going to break them if I move wrong. Hattie’s doing well! She’s almost eighty pounds and she’s at home with Sirius right now, probably getting snuggled within an inch of her fuzzy little life.”
“That’s the dream right there.”
“Tell me about it. Alright, sorry ladies and gents, but I have to sit up to get to the questions.” All four puppies made noises of protest when he started sitting up and he sighed, eyebrows pitching upward. “I know, I know, it’s really hard. Here, how about we…” Remus carefully gathered them until he held all four against his chest; their tiny faces looked out over his forearms and he placed a kiss on each of their heads. “Much better.”
“Can you get to the jar?”
It took a bit of maneuvering, but he managed to reach in. “Do you want to read it?” he asked Mercutio as the puppy tried to bite the slip. “No? Okay. What is my favorite thing about playing on the same team as my fiancé? That is an excellent question. My favorite thing is that we finally have the same schedule, so we can build in time to hang out more easily. It was hard to do that when we were doing different things.”
Pip yawned and the entire camera crew ‘awww’ed; Remus made a soft noise and nuzzled his floppy ear.
“I adore you,” he murmured. “I really do. Last question: What is my advice to those who want to follow their dreams? Oh, jeez.”
“You can take a minute to think.”
Remus crossed his legs and lifted his knees up so he could hug all the puppies at once while still looking at the camera. “The only reason I got big and strong is so that I can hold four puppies at once. Just thought people should know that. Uh, my advice to those who want to follow their dreams is to persevere. I never in a million years thought that I would get to play on a professional hockey team, but I worked really hard to overcome my injury and stay connected to the sport because I love it. If there’s something you love, don’t be afraid to hold on to it.”
“Wise words,” Marlene remarked. “Do you want to tell the fans where they can find the puppies?”
“At my house,” Remus joked. “But if that doesn’t work, they are up for adoption at Friendly Paws Animal Shelter, which is just south of downtown Gryffindor and has tons of adorable friends like these guys. Can I call Sirius real quick?”
“Sure,” Marlene laughed.
Remus gingerly lowered Lucie into his lap and pulled his phone out of his pocket, dialing a quick number before putting it on speakerphone and setting it down to pick her up again. “Re?” Sirius sounded confused. “Aren’t you still with Marlene?”
“Yeah.”
“…did something happen?”
“Nope, all good. Can we get another dog?”
There was a beat of silence on the other end of the line. “Marlene, what did you do?”
“It’s just an interview!” she called.
“What kind of interview?”
“Baby, they gave me puppies,” Remus said gleefully, burying his face in Lucie’s fluff for a moment. “Like, really good puppies.”
A long-suffering sigh came through the phone. “How many are you holding?” Remus hesitated. “Sweetheart, how many dogs are currently in your arms?”
“Four.”
“Holy shit, Marlene! You gave him four dogs?!”
“They named them, too,” Remus added. “Pip, Juliet, Lucie Manette, and Mercutio. Baby, they named him Mercutio.”
“This was a recipe for disaster.” Despite his protests, Sirius sounded intrigued. “How old are they?”
Remus glanced up at Marlene. “They’re all six to eight months old,” she said.
Sirius blew out a slow breath. “So they’re babies.”
“They’re all up for adoption.”
“We have Hattie already.” Sirius was wavering. “But…she might possibly need a friend. Maybe.”
“You already love these dogs and you haven’t even seen them,” Remus said with a grin.
“The names are perfect! What was I supposed to do?”
“I’m going to sign the video off and then call you back, okay?”
“Okay. Don’t let go of the dogs until I get there, please.”
“Wasn’t planning on it. Love you!”
“Love you, too.”
Once the call ended, Remus faced the camera with a smile. Juliet and Pip had already fallen asleep. “Thanks for tuning in, Lions! Be sure to like and subscribe for more content. Endless thanks to Marlene McKinnon for allowing me to spend an hour holding tiny dogs. Have a great day!”

Jahmil French (July 29, 1991 – March 1, 2021)
We worked together on Soundtrack, and every single time you entered the room we all felt it get brighter. You were shiny, magnetic and so so kind. RIP and fly with the angels Jah. – JENNA DEWAN Really hate that this is real. @JahmilFrench you will be missed my friend. Thank you for your talents that pushed me, your energy that kept our little family on @soundtracknetflix glued together. I’m happy I was able to get to know you. Our work together def made an impact on me & You and your Mom felt like family back home. Today and everyday we will remember you and continue to be inspired to live and be great for you. Rest In Peace Jah. – CHRISTINA MILLIAN Honestly been at a loss for words since I heard the news. This doesn’t feel real. Jahmil, was one of the most talented actors I’ve ever worked with. One of the funniest kindest people I ever met. The life of the party, every room he would walk into he would always be dancing and making people laugh and smile. Too many good memories. Thank you Jahmil. Rest In Peace King. – AJ SAUDIN Heartbroken over the loss of our friend Jahmil French. We started on Degrassi the same year and I’ll never forget the day I met him. Jahmil was so full of energy and absolute joy to be around. The video on the last slide is how I always think of him, always dancing. He was such a special person and I’m so grateful for the memories we made. I still can’t believe it. Gone way too soon. He will be so missed by us all. – ANNIE CLARK My heart is so heavy.. Truly one of a kind. Rest In Peace. – CRISTINE PROSPERI I’m sick with the news of Jahmil’s passing. He performed Dave with such sensitivity and thoughtfulness and could make me laugh so easily. It was a pleasure to work with him and he will be missed. This is a real loss. Rest In Peace. – STEFAN BROGREN Jahmil had such talent and charisma that it would have been intimidating were he not also a real gentleman. He would show up to my house-parties with a crew of dancers and they would elevate the mood immediately. When life got messy he would handle himself with grace and levity. He was precocious. And his love for music (and dance) was contagious. He showed me Section 80 by Kendrick Lamar, made me appreciate Drake’s Houston sound… Wish I’d gotten the chance to catch up with him one more time, hear where his mind/dreams were at. – SAM EARLE Jahmil, your talents and energy will never be forgotten. One of the best smiles with the most beautiful soul. Jahmil, you will always be such a bright light in this world. – SARAH FISHER This one really hurts. Jahmil French was a truly kind soul and one of the most talented actors around. He inspired me with his confidence and support from the first day we met and will continue to do so forever. Thank you for everything you gave to this world through both your art and your humanity. Rest In Peace my friend. – CRAIG ARNOLD Much love to the entire Degrassi family on this difficult day. It was a complete honour to write for and work with Jahmil, an incredible actor and talent gone way too soon. – RAMONA BARCKERT An extraordinary talent and a bright light on and off screen. Rest in peace, Jahmil. – MICHAEL GRASSI So sad to hear about the passing of Degrassi cast-member Jahmil French. An endlessly talented & charming performer who was always fun to write for. Last time I saw him, he was nominated for a CSA for his work in the movie Boost and I was certain he was only getting started. RIP. – MATT HUETHER Jahmil was always such a kind person. My heart is heavy for him and his family. Thanks for all the good memories Jahmil, you really had an impact. I’ll cherish all the fun we had dancing at basement parties all those years ago. Still in shock. Jahmil will be missed. He was an integral part of the Degrassi family and certainly a huge part of my degrassi days. He always wanted to make people laugh and smile, a true joy to be around. Rest in Peace. – CHLOE ROSE Rest easy, my friend. Your talent, kindness and shining bright light will never be forgotten. – JESSICA TYLER Wanted to pay my respects to an incredibly kind, funny, and talented individual; Jahmil French. One of the first people I met on Degrassi, he immediately made me feel welcome. He disarmed you with a smile and his confidence and energy was infectious. You’ll be missed, brother. – DYLAN EVERETT Jahmil was one of the most gifted and effortless performers I’ve ever met. His vibrant personality lit up the room. Rest easy my friend. – MUNRO CHAMBERS I am heartbroken to hear about the loss of Jahmil. Jahmil was an extraordinary talent and a bright light on and off the screen. He was a joy to work with on Degrassi: The Next Generation. He brought an authenticity and burst of life to every scene he was in and infused his character ‘Dave’ with an airy lightness. Off screen Jahmil would always make me smile. He will be deeply missed. – LINDA SCHUYLER My heart goes out to the entire Degrassi community., but particularly of course to those who were closest with Jahmil. We have lost one of our own. Jahmil was kind, intelligent, extremely talented, and just a wonderful person. He was also of course an incredible dancer, and since I am the exact opposite we had a running joke that I had taught him all his dance moves. When I would completely ineptly do the Moonwalk, Jahmil would cheer me on, while everyone else would beg me to stop! RIP Jahmil French, your soul and presence are sorely missed. – STEPHEN STOHN A sad day for the Degrassi family. With a heavy heart I thank you for all the times you made me laugh, taught me dance moves, and gave me confidence as Adam. Thinking of all the memories we shared on and off of set. - JORDAN TODOSEY Thinking of Jahmil French & the entire Degrassi family today click here for the full post - LYLE LETTAU This one hurts me deeply. When I found out yesterday I refused to believe it! I wouldn’t except it and to be honest I still don’t quite believe it’s real. I love you and the energy between us was always genuine. Working with you was always a blast and you were always the coolest man in the room. Till we meet again my friend. – CORY LEE Terribly sad to hear about Jahmil’s passing. Whether I was his scene partner, or just a viewer, I was in awe of his sheer talent. A room was brighter because he was in it. A true performer, a great guy and a huge loss. #RestInPeace – JUSTIN KELLY I’m so shocked and saddened to hear this news about Jahmil. Jahmil was and is such a kind, fun loving, hilarious, full of life, hard working and professional person. He was my first real scene partner on a series I got to be a series regular on. I remember the day my agent sent me the casting for Degrassi. It said I would be playing Dave Turners love interest. So the first thing I did was pull up the good ol IMDB machine and find out who Jahmil French was. The same day as my audition a few mere hours later I got the call that the role was mine (pretty rare in this industry) I went in to do my fitting and thats when I met Jahmil, Spencer and AJ for the first time as they played an iconic trio on the show. They were all super friendly and nice to me and made me feel very welcomed to be joining the cast. I was nervous and 15 at the time. Jahmil was the integral glue that held the circle together and its would lead to an amazing friendship that I got to have with Spencer. I had only been slated to do 3 episodes on the show but I believe it was the on screen chemistry Jahmil and I had that lead me to stick around for longer. Jahmil always had a smile on his face. I would come in at 5am for our call to do prep and be so tired, but there he was hanging out in the green room dancing so full of energy and life. Jahmil LOVED dancing and he was really good at it too. And I’d ask him “How do you even have this much energy this early LOL” and he’d just laugh and smile. Any time we went down to block he’d be word perfect on his lines, hit every mark and bring such an amazing professionalism to the set it was mesmerizing to watch. He played every scene with a new beat that always kept it interesting and fresh. Jahmil was and still is such a kind hearted dedicated person who eventually really went on to flourish in his career and he will be deeply missed. Heaven really gained a new angel today, Rest In Peace and say hey to all the other pals up there. Spencer and I will pour one out for you - ALEXX BENOIT Rest in peace my guy. An amazingly talented actor who had such a presence on and off screen. – DEMETRIUS JOYETTE Jahmil was such a wonderful person to be around. so funny, so charismatic, so talented. and my god he loved his work. I’m devasted. Sending my love to his friends and family. In a year full of grief, it’s hard to comprehend how there can be room for more. And yet. Jahmil French was an incredible person, so full of talent and passion for his work. He lit up a room with his energy and dance moves. An easy smile and a natural charisma. He will be so missed. My heart is broken. I feel strange, announcing these things I wish I had told him more often. Reached out more often. The regret is acute. He deserved his flowers when he was here. I hope he knew how much love & admiration there was for him in this world. – AISLINN PAUL One of the most talented, kind hearted, funny spirits I’ve had the pleasure of building a friendship with. Jahmil is an icon. My love for him runs deep. Jahmil you will always hold such a special place in my heart. Thank you for being one of the most talented, compassionate, kindest, funniest friends I have. You were so loved. I’ll miss our dance offs. #Bhandurner forever. Jah literally won the title of most competitive goofball. What joy he brought to my life and to so many. So grateful for memories and deep convos with you, beautiful angel. Blessed that we got to be part of a big dysfunctional family together. Thank you for sharing your gift with the world. I just hope you knew how loved you were. I learnt so much working with this talented dedicated soul. Please send a prayer for his soul to go directly toward the light. – MELINDA SHANKAR Such a beautiful soul & a light to everyone around him. Rest in Paradise Jahmil. – JOELLE FARROW This moment will live in my mind forever. A beautiful soul, thank you for the years of memories and laughter. You’re a light my brother and I’m so happy we got to experience this crazy life together. I’ll always remember you dancing down the halls of the green room. Rest In Peace. – LUKE BILYK I’m devasted. My man, I swear I was just thinking about you not even a few days ago when I was making my new demo reel, watching all the old Degrassi episodes. So talented. So unbelievably wise beyond your years. You made one of the best times of my life even better. I’m so crushed. I should have called you. I dont deserve to miss you as much as I do now. I would always say my favourite actor on the show was Mr. Jahmil French. I would always watch his parts when going thru Degrassi material to either study my tech or to cut demos or whatever else. Not 4 days ago was I daydreaming about making some kind of new production with all of those talented people. My hearts broken. – DANIEL KELLY Jahmil was always the brightest light in the room. Smiling, dancing and making all of us laugh till we cried. Rest In Peace you beautiful soul. You will be missed… - ALICIA JOSIPOVIC This is absolutely heartbreaking. While I never worked directly with Jahmil on Degrassi, our paths did cross a few times. All you needed was 5 minutes with him to realize what a beautiful, talented, bright soul he was. My sincerest condolences to his family and loved onces. Rest In Peace Jahmil French. – ANA GOLJA Shocked & saddened to hear of Jahmil’s passing. Loss of such a talented and bright soul. Rest in Power cuz, I’ll pour one out for you, am so wishing this was a dream. – JAJUBE MANDIELA I join thousands of people around the world thinking about Jahmil today. A beautiful, joyful person to be on set with, truly intimidating on the dance floor, an all-around wonderful person to have known, gone just way, way too soon. Sending love to everyone who loved him. Jahmil, I hope you feel it too. – CHARLOTTE ARNOLD I didn’t know Jahmil very well, but in the few times we met, he was so explosively kind, charismatic and truly interested and invested in every interaction. I immediately felt accepted and got a sense of the deep compassion that so many others had expressed was within him. The impression I had always stuck with me and from all I have heard he was such a beautiful and loving person, the special kind that makes everything a little lighter. Thank you to everyone who has been sharing stories of their time with him. Sending love to Jahmil and all of you. – ERIC OSBORNE Jahmil was such a special human. A long-time acting student of mine, & my mentee. He was fearless and brilliant in his pursuit, and I’m so sad we won’t get to see more of his gift. I’m so grateful to have crossed paths with him, and I wish him eternal peace. – SALVATORE ANTONIO So sad to hear of Jahmil’s passing. He was so kind and so funny. I’m glad I had the chance to know him. You will be missed. Rest in Power Jahmil. Gone too soon. Will never be forgotten. – TAYSHA FULLER Even though I only worked with Jahmil for a little while he made a truly lasting impression. I remember when I first came back to set as Tori and I was incredibly nervous those first few weeks, but Jahmil was so welcoming and treated me and the other new cast members like we’d been a part of the cast the whole time. If he gave you a compliment or even said something as simple as “it’s so good to see you” you knew he genuinely meant it. It seems like a small thing but it’s hard to find that kind of authentic honesty in most people. He was an incredibly talented actor and always such a positive energy on set, and I’ll remember him for all those vibrant moments. Rest In Peace. – ALEXA STEELE This smile. This spark. This spirit. Jah I am missing you from this earthly plane we all love you. – MEGAN FERGUSON there never seems to be enough time… I don’t know if words can describe someone like Jah. He really was too special for this world. A true artist to his soul. I was lucky to call him my friend. Rest in Peace and Power Angel. you will be so dearly missed. – PAUL JAMES I guess I thought if I refrained from making a post, it would ease some of the pain.. but the more hours that pass, the more it sets in heavier. JAH. Mi familia. My brother. I am crushed. I have believed in you since the moment we met, and it makes me smile to know the feeling was 100% reciprocated. The purest soul. Always himself no matter WHERE he went. It takes courage to be that way you know? To have that strength. From Antigone to degrassi, to LA to NY you had EVERYTHING in you to shine. All the power, all the talent, all the intelligence the drive, the fearlessness. Your smile made me smile. Sweeterman jah, I miss you so much already. – SHANICE BANTON Dance on, old friend -through the clouds. I will see you on the other side. click here for the full post – SHANNON KOOK

Intro & My take on KM
Hi!
I’m new around here so it’s supposed to be (not so short) introduction, since I don’t know how to start a blog heh. I hope to sprinkle my 0.5 cents into the KM conversation and maybe to bring a new perspective from someone, who is not a part of the typical English-speaking West.
Who /the hell/ Am I?
(please, consider it to be said with NJ’s voice from Intro: Persona :D)
I was born in Siberia (it’s in the Asian part of Russia), currently live in the European part of the country while studying at a Uni (European in terms of geography, not in terms of everything else i’m definitely not shading rn lolllll). English is not my first language, I’ve just kind of learnt it to some extent. Due to this it takes me more time to write a post; and I may (and will) make some grammatical & other mistakes. Plus I’m lazy AND busy with Uni, so I won’t even promise to be consistent in posting smth lol. But I thought I need more practice in terms of writing in English, so here I am, actually scribbling something. This feels weird, because I’ve been around stan Tumblr since 2015, but never ever interacted, just read.
How I ended up around Jikook/Kookmin (and BTS) & My (long&messy) take on this matter
Although I had heard of BTS before, I became an Army only in October 2018. I had kinda avoided them, because you know... boybands.... sing songs about romantic love and how they love girls.......... (+I had been around Twitter when 1D been at their peak and I remember a quite toxic community of fans, whom always had scared me). Shortly, hello stereotypes. Obviously, after I got engaged I felt terribly sorry that I had been sleeping on them, but what is done cannot be undone.
Someone I knew back then reposted one of their MVs and I, during my sad hours of procrastination, decided to watch it. Then I saw their live performance with the same song. And I thought “wow these guys can sing and dance and the music is kinda cool, i need to check this out maybe??”
Then a funny thing happened. One of the next videos I watched (the same person had it added to their page) was a 2016 BangtanBomb where JM and JK practiced their Coming of Age dance.
Do you know this moment with Gina from the 1st episode of Brooklyn 9-9:
Tumblr media
Well, that was precisely me after I watched it. I don’t even know how to explain this, it was kind of a gut feeling? Whatever you call it, I started to get suspicious and couldn’t even explain to myself why. /actually now a do have questions to this vid and the main one - why does everyone cringe that much? if it’s a girly choreo than they had done some “girly” moves before. why is there such strong reaction??/
I started to get deeper and went to some ru-shipper communities. Shipping culture among Russian speaking fans is... well, weird to some extent, but I maybe address this topic some time later. You need to consider that (as far as you probably know) Russia is quite homophonic country and sadly is not the greatest place for LGBTQ+ community at the moment. The non-frienly influential attitudes hanging in the society + the general shippers’ weirdness = the result is not that nice honestly.
I struggled for some time in order to find more mature people (not just in terms of age but in general sanity), failed, ended up with some EXTREMELY toxic ru-fans of TK, which was/is the most popular pairing here, spent among them like 15 minutes and ran away horrified. After that I didn’t even try to engage with shippers or believers or whatever of any pair and just decided to enjoy the music and the content (which is a great idea, highly recommend!)
After a couple of days I discovered that JK makes videos. I love video, films and visual art so I immediately found them on YT, saw the titles with names of different cities from all over the world and was like “Oh that must be so cool, he’s visited so many outstanding places I’ve never been to, so I really need to watch it! I shall enjoy some beautyyy”. Then I clicked on GCFt.
Well, what can I say. I did enjoy some beauty, but not the type I had initially anticipated. The biggest clickbait in my entire life. JK should be proud of himself.
Tumblr media
                                       /as I said - the beauty/
I had already known Troy back then and I known the song’s lyrics so it would not be an underestimation to say - the video just blew my mind. I was like - hold on is this real? seriously?? no really really????? he manage to get away with something THAT obvious?????? dude how
As a person who edited videos AND is not a native English speaker, I don’t buy the explanation “oh he mustve didnt get the lyrics lmao”. You just don’t do that. You don’t. DON’T. You google and translate every shit you don’t understand, every word and idiom you’ve never encountered, because otherwise the possibility of an epic failure is very likely. You wouldn’t want to give your mum a video as a birthday present and then discover that you used a song with WAP-ish lyrics, right? (well maybe that would be okay in your family, I don’t judge, but that’s not the case for people I know). So don’t you dare to degrade JK’s intellectual capacities; such assumption is really offensive. He is a smart boii, he knows exactly what he’s doing in terms of his art.
So I was shocked, but decided to look for the context - maybe I missed some previous events regarding this Tokyo thing (another great idea - always check the context). Well, apparently I didn’t, because the whole narrative with the trip for two, lovely selfies etc. made my poor brain lowkey explode. (I still don’t buy the rings theory thing though)
But I didn’t give up lol! I’m a bit stubborn and it’s very hard to convince me in anything, so I decided to search for more context, more of their interactions, moreeee. Remember, the late October 2018, there were no swan lakes, RB, and even MMA18 hadn’t happened yet.
This time I ended up watching content in more or less consistent way, and when I saw all of these scenes with affectionate JM and a cool badass i-don’t-care-about-anyone-i’m-a-manly-man-with-no-feelings-whatsoever JK, I just hysterically laughed.
Homophobic Russia, remember? I recognized this. Growing up here being LGBT myself, taught me the same type behaviour during my high school days. When a girl I kinda liked but didn’t what to admit it to myself was nice to me or (oh god) flirted with me, I did something similar. It’s like a huge panic mode. Being an introvert doesn’t help either. The funniest thing is that you may not entirely realise what exactly is going on in terms of your own feelings, especially at that age (16-18ish). In my personal case, I thought I liked her but as a friend, only later to realise that well not as a friend oops :DDD The second thing (already not so funny) is that you actually consciously or unconsciously try to avoid the subject as much as possible, as long as possible and pretend that nothing is going on. We’re just bros. Stop doing this stupid gayish thing and don’t look at me like that, you’re annoying. If you ever do this again I (gently) kick you. I’m straighter than a straight line in my math textbook. IDK, but probably that’s your brain is somehow trying to protect you. Again, in my case&position I knew that the consequences for any non-straight person being outed would be bad (TW not to the point of being killed bad, but to the point of being excluded from a big part of society). So for me it was a mixture of the internalized homophobia + lack of self reflection + just being a bit emotionally slow + very! straight community around. Shit happens, I was a teenager and made my share of mistakes, but that experience helps me to recognize the same pattern of behaviour up to this day.
So coming back to KM, because the post is already waaay too long and I just ramble. It’s been 2+ years for me being a part of this fandom, and what can I say... Things become more intense and eventful with every year passing by ;) Funny how I felt that vibe from the 2016 dance practice video. Seeing the Black Swan performance a week ago almost had me choked, no joking. They are amazing.
Tumblr media
                                                    Pure Art
However, and I would like to emphasize that, I do not incline that KM are 100% romantically involved and/or gay or whatever. I tend to treat people with respect and not to make too much assumptions about their private life. That’s not my business. However, I’m also not a fan of heteronormativity, so I’m just sitting here and observe everything that’s going on putting some distance and not forgetting being generally polite and critical thinking. But if they are just straightest besties please give them an Oscar before Grammy
Anyways, I hope this blog won’t kick the bucket from the very start and I will post something every now and then. You can always ask me questions about some BTS/Jikook related stuff or something about Russia and a Russian view on mass culture topics, since I’m pretty sure some of you have very stereotypical view of what is going on here :) However, do note that I’ve never been to America or Europe, therefore I may not be aware of something verrrry obvious to you or just have a completely different experience.
P.S.  And yeah, I’m used to say Jikook, since it’s the name which is used much more frequently in Russian.  i like it better and what will u do haha

i’m back because i love asking questions. what are your top 5 comedic buffy episodes
Sorry for taking so long to reply! I’ve been sick snd there’s been a long series of unfortunate events leading up to this point! This is a fantastic question (feel more than free, encouraged in fact, to send more)
1) Something Blue - Some highlights: “Spike and I are getting married!” “You hands smell like fruit roll ups” “Stop! I can here the smacking” “Look at my poor neck, all bare and tender. GILES!” “You’re getting married to a guy named Spike?” (“You’re the one who wanted Wind Beneath My Wings for the first dance” [everyone looks over] “it was the spell”) “Well it pinches” “A little blood of the innocent” “Do you want Spike or William the Bloody on the invitations? Because wither way it will look major league weird” “Mr and Mrs Big Pile of Dust” The scene with the cake toppers!!!
2) Tabula Rasa - I love nothing more than amnesia episodes. Some highlights: Randy Spike thinking he’s basically Angel and then Joan Buffy totally mocking Angel. Giles and Spike thinking they’re rather and son. THE HORRIBLE PAIRINGS OF THIS EPISODE. Goodbye to you 😭. The literal lone shark demon who wants kittens from Spike.
3) Band Candy - Highlights: Giles is SO HOT. Cop car sex. The feather boa. “Yo Summers you drive like a spaz”. Ethan fucking Rayne. Tales of Brave Ulysses by Cream. “Punch him again”. Xander eating all the chocolate and still being perfectly fine. The Louie Louie rendition from Willow’s shirtless doctor. SNYDER.
4) Pangs - Highlights: “You made a bear” “I didn’t mean to” “undo it! undo it!”. Xander’s funny syphilis. Buffy being upset Xander didn’t bring roles. “Can I have someone to eat”. “It’s true, he had trouble performing”. “Like living skeletons, mate”. Everyone thing Angel is evil. Xander spilling the Angel beans at the episode’s end. “An entire siege, thought one of you would bleed a little”. “Isn’t he tall and glowering”
5) Lover’s Walk - Highlights: Drunk Spike. The deeply annoyed Angel, Spike, Buffy triad. Angel being trapped under a door for a ridiculous amount of time. “Oh God, I think I’m sobering up”. The idea that Cordelia goes bowling. MINI MARSHMALLOWS!!! Spike making mock vamp faces behind Joyce while Angel freaks out.
Bonus, funniest Angel episodes:
Objectively these are both terrible choice, but I adore amnesia and body swap episodes.
1) Spin the Bottle - Angel hates the English, Fred is desperate for weed, Wesley is painfully awkward but with stellar physical comedy, Queen C is back and in business, Gunn is so tired of these people’s shit, and Lorne is once again tied to a chair. Need I say more?
2) Carpe Noctem - all I can say is: so horny. also the only message I got from this episode is that Angel is wasting his eternal hunk privilege

Shakespearean mc here- what are your thoughts on the different plays? Specifically twelfth night and midsummers night dream since you mentioned characters from those plays plus Macbeth (I’m studying that one in school)
*Cracks knuckles and takes a long, deep breath.*
Fam I have written entire essays about this for my courses. I have done presentations and powerpoints, not to mention monologues. I have filled journals. You know not what sort of floodgate that you’ve opened. The doorway to my dorkish heart.
Twelfth Night is my favorite comedy and it was actually the first one I ever saw. The premise behind the show is a farce-like situation, it’s literally one big joke. Viola has a crush, so in order to woo him, she dresses up as a man and goes off to try and convince another woman to date him. Y’know, as you do. But then here’s the kicker - his crush falls in love with the male disguise! I know it’s probably something we all just kind of accept as normal Shakespearian humor at this point, but you must understand how hard Tiny Brandon was laughing when he first saw this, especially since Olivia was played by a friend of mine. (Well I say “friend,” she was a drama coach, but I considered her a friend, so there.) Viola holds a special place in my heart, for being the first protagonist I saw, and I friggin love how she puts it all together immediately and her reaction is just, “I wonder how badly this will all go wrong by the end. Welp! No turning back now!” She’s literally such a mood, and I’m so glad to see her reunited with Sebastion by the end. Speaking of him, I like how he just kind of stumbles upon the plot and passively accepts it. Oliva throws herself at him, and he just accepts. I’ve seen this played multiple ways. In the first production I saw, the guy was bewildered and just kind of went along with it like “Uh...okay?” But later on, I saw a version where my good friend was playing him, and he made me laugh so hard, because he played it like “This total babe wants to marry me. I have no idea why or who she is, but she does NOT need to ask twice.” Also this has nothing to do with anything, but between Oliva falling for “Sezario” and Orsino continuing to treat Viola as a man until they’re married...yeah, this play had characters who were LBGT and didn’t know it. Them’s just the facts. Anyway, I love this little squad, I’d watch a sitcom about them for sure. Oh who am I kidding, the real comedy of this show, the elephant in the room...is Malvolio, and his whole storyline. What a role, and I want it. I wish to play Malvolio before I die. I wish to see fanfiction about him getting revenge on the whole pack of them. I cannot read the cross-gartered scene without laughing. He’s...he’s Percy. He’s literally Percy, right down to how he’s the punch line of the joke, and it’s treated as okay because he’s just that annoying...but y’know I don’t really mind? Like sure, he was wronged. He was most notoriously abused. But it was funny!
Midsummers is a show that I basically know by the back of my hand by now. It’s one of the classics, it’s like Romeo and Juliet in the sense that it’s one of the shows that everyone had heard of, everyone knows on a basic level even if they hate Shakespare or know little to nothing about his work. And I used to joke that this show was following me. Because everyone was putting it on, and no matter where I went, what company I worked with...inevitably, that show would crop up. If I had any dancing ability or movement training that I hadn’t all but forgotten by now, I would love to play Puck. The ultimate trickster, the ultimate troll. He’s the best. Another classic and cliche plot of course, but that’s because it’s iconic at this point. Like a blend between a soap opera and a farce this time, everything that happens between the four humans in the woods. I love how it’s just canon that Hermia is short, and angry about this. I like how Lysander is kinda witty, “You have her father’s love, Demetrius. Would you marry him?” and y’know, he’s not a bad guy. He does try to get into Hermia’s pants before the wedding, but he backs down when she says no. Demetrius though? He’s a dirtbag. I mean, he’s not as bad as Proteus from Two Gents...but like...are we just never gonna talk about how his love for Helena was artificially induced...and that’s the happy ending? And none of the humans will ever know it? Oh well. There’s also the rivalry between Oberon and Titania, and I always love watching them onstage. They really feel like two deities waging a war, or “playing a game” with each other, with mortals caught in the crosshairs. I believe this romance, I ship it. Titania is a character that I always have high standards for. I expect an amazing performance from her, especially after seeing what my friend Chrissy put in the role. (I doubt you will ever see this, Chrissy, but if you do - shoutout!) Then there's the whole subplot about Pyramus and Thisbe. It’s a little awkward that the production is put on after the whole resolution with the four humans, but I guess it makes sense in-universe. And who cares - it’s always, always the funniest part of that whole show. I look forward to it every time. “This dog. My dog.”
Don’t get me started on Macbeth. This is my favorite Tragedy and probably my favorite Shakespeare show overall. But it’s not just a Tragedy, it’s a Horror, the very best kind of Horror. A story where the audience is betrayed. The hero that was talked up, named in the show’s title, and introduced as a good man...he does a terrible thing, and it all spirals from there. Leaving the audience stranded, unsure if they’re supposed to still root for him. Not to mention how well this play dives into the psychology of murder. How it changes a person forever, once they’ve done something like that and have to live with it. Macbeth was an ordinary man. He didn’t want to kill Duncan for any personal reason or grudge, it was just because of the obvious reason: Power. He wanted the throne. Sure, every man wants to be king, but once the Witches made it seen attainable, once Lady Macbeth painted that picture in his mind...he made his choice. And it’s so important that he’s ordinary because anyone could fall into that kind of trap. Not to get dark for a second but like...a lot of us have people in our lives who we would probably be better off if they weren’t around. And we probably have at least one person who we could kill and probably get away with it. The monster in the back of the human mind. That is what Macbeth is all about. I know the “Out, damn spot” scene is iconic, but it really demonstrates how different people would respond to trauma in different ways. Then there’s Banquo, who basically figures out the truth but can do nothing about it other than wait for Macbeth to realize he’s a loose end. The mystery of the “third” murderer...and I’ve written essays about who that might have been, too. The hubris of Macbeth not to realize how the witches words could be twisted. I also grew so, so attached to Macduff. The poor guy lost everything, and he was the one who spearheaded the rebellion, and ultimately killed Macbeth. Reading it as a kid, not understanding the line of succession, I remember being so annoyed that he wasn’t made King at the end, because he totally deserved it. Also, as someone else who was, “from my mother’s womb, untimely ripped” I consider Macduff a kindred spirit.

Higurashi Sotsu Ep. 14 Thoughts
Mahou shoujo episode mk. 2: DBZ edition (or possibly Nanoha edition).    Which doesn’t mean the obvious comp doesn’t also apply, Alexa play Agmen Clientum and/or Absolute Configuration.  But the usual source of Parallels(tm) never went as flashy as this visually.
More under the cut:
- I have to retroactively lower my grades for the pacing of last week’s episode: if you’re going to resolve the gunpoint cliffhanger with Satoko just shooting Rika, then my pacing instincts say that *that* is where they should have put the episode break for maximum anticlimax factor.  (Two caveats: you’re losing some metatextual trolling depth, and I’m not sure how well that “Satoko just shot her” episode ending would have gone over after how fucked the rest of Sotsu’s pacing has been.)
- This episode... I think I’m landing on “good, but not good enough to redeem thirteen episodes of bad-to-terrible pacing”.
- The absolutely hilarious thing about this episode is just how many of the English fandom memes it managed to hit, and I can’t tell whether or not it’s intentional.  “REEE I refuse to learn”?  Check.  Chair?  Check.  Giving us a nod to how thoroughly we’ve been getting tired of the festival dance this cour by having Satoko burn it down?  Check.   And the absolute funniest one, because I have on good authority that a few weeks back somebody was either accidentally or intentionally posting DBZ (well, Dragonball Super) threads on the Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy except the first posts had When They Cry images instead of proper DBZ images... and now the universal response to episode 14 is “we’re going full DBZ”.  Was Ryukishi07 actually that good at predicting the fandom reactions ahead of time?  (If so, Endless Eight lesson still applies.)  Did the creative team keep the episode 14 script flexible enough that they could edit it to react to the memes?  Is the Seventh Dragon Knight actually shitposting about his own franchise on the English-speaking Internet to try to guide the fanbase reaction in a desired direction or something?  Or is it just one of those mind-boggling coincidences (the kind that make me eye the *other* thing I hear about When They Cry on the Wretched Hive, namely the way that it’s apparently gotten some absolutely *massive* gets over the last year or so)?
- Speaking of which... gotta increment the counter by one.
- In unrelated news, PMMM parallels are old hat, it’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull reference time now.
- Which admittedly does not mean that the PMMM parallels are gone, mind.  In particular, while the rooftop scene may be straight out of Tsumihoroboshi-hen the size of the full moon is not - it was reasonably sized in DEEN’s version.  Here, not so much:
Tumblr media
Rebellion, of course, had exactly this kind of ridiculously large moon for the first three-quarters of the movie.  My “Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni: the Rebellion Story” cursed brain noise take after episode 7 continues to age like fine wine.
(- *nervously eyes plot point for a certain fanfic that hasn’t come into play yet and that I actually hadn’t pieced together until well after I started writing it, eyes something about the context of Rebellion’s moon, then eyes the counter warily*)
(- Also: is Ryukishi07 trying to pull an “explain everything in excruciating detail” as a potshot towards the Japanese fans who hated Umineko’s VN ending *and* another Umineko VN end both at the same time?  Because I very much doubt that this episode is actually happening per se - this has metaphor written all over it.  And I was already seriously entertaining “we are being lied to, everything involving H173 is Witch bullshit and therefore did not actually happen” as it was. And that would be Ryukishi07′s style, he’s always been a very me kind of author in certain ways, though perhaps more me circa a decade ago than me now, and that kind of metatext would be a very me sort of thing to do.  The Wretched Hive has been joking about Battler showing up, but the real joke may be that you, the viewer, are now in Battler’s shoes.)

Saint Seiya Question Game
Tagged by: @siberianxbreaks
-- Thank you for the tag, my friend! --
Remove my answers and put yours under the questions!
How did you find out about Saint Seiya?
My sister is actually a huge fan of Saint Seiya, so I found out about from her. We actually watched it when we were kids. I don’t have that vivid of a memory about it, but I do know the one I recall watching is the ADV dub. I remember how deep they made Hyoga’s voice and that’s it.
But my sister really loved it and I’d watch with her. One day, it kinda disappeared and because we live in the United States—y’all probably know what I mean— It was really hard to find it at all. So for years, my sister was trying to track it down and she dabbled into the other series related to it a little bit. It wasn’t until last year that we finally found it thanks to Netflix and we watched it all with our entire family. I saw the first season with the new dub and was immediately obsessed with it. I enjoyed every second of watching the whole thing. It kills me that we don’t have the Hades arc dubbed yet and I hope we get it soon.
I watched Lost Canvas, too, and loved it as well. Albafica made me love it and the El Cid’s episodes were really top notch for me. I love his voice. I love his character. I think he’s literally the coolest thing ever. I delved into the manga and I just love Lost Canvas. It has some weird stuff here and there, but I adore it. I hope one day we get a season three because it’s truly that good.
I just really love Saint Seiya & I’m so glad that it exists. Truly. I don’t remember having that much fun watching an anime since like watching Death Note, Soul Eater, Sgt. Frog, and like—Azumanga Daioh... all for different reasons, of course.
Who’s your favorite character and why?
When I started watching the show again, it was Shun. He’s so adorable and his heart is so big. I love how sweet and strong he is. I have a soft spot for Shun honestly. The more I watched it, I really started to just adore all the Bronze Saints, too.
But another character I really adore is Cancer Deathmask. He’s so charismatic and fun. I really adore the voice they gave him in the Netflix English dub, too. He killed it. I just absolutely am in love with him. Yes, he committed several crimes. Yes, he has killed numerous people. Yes, his temple looks like a Mortal Kombat stage... but it truly builds character. He’s my husband and I think we’re all allowed to make as choices ever now and then.
Who’s your absolute hate-character and why?
Tatsumi. I hate how he never faced the consequences for anything he did. He literally abused those children—Ikki, more-so, and he sent him to Death Queen to DIE. He’s never shown signs to change really. They just treat him like a crack/comedy character and it irks me because he deserved to get beat for what he did at least. Wish he would have literally got tortured or fired. Anything at all, but they just prepare like nothing happen and he continues being an ass-wipe.
I don’t care for Kido either because even if he took Saori and raised her, he never did much to stop the countless abuse the children went under and knowing sent the children away to die. No, even in the manga, I don’t see it as a noble sacrifice to literally sacrifice most of your children to fulfill a destiny. Even if they were just sent away, he literally could have prevented Tatsumi from abusing them and raised Saori better. No matter how you look at it, he’s a shit person, too. Yes, he helped them become saints but the way he did it will never feel right to me. He separated Seiya from his sister and told him he’d only see her again if he became a saint, knowing full well he couldn’t even guarantee that. That emotional manipulation is toxic and cruel to do to a child—an in the manga—your own son. Like ew,,,,, I don’t like the children aspect in the manga, but with that considered still, he’s still a horrible person and I wish Saori would stop hailing him as a good guy.
Shippings you like and why you ship them?
Tumblr media
Shaina/Seiya — In my heart, they are the canonical pairing. They really do protect each other and care deeply for one another. Seiya reacts strongly every time she gets hurt and Shaina is always doing her best to protect/defend him. They’re both strong in their own right and they both have a deeper connection to each other. Even when Shaina tried to hide her feelings because she felt there is no way they could be together and tried to kill him, you could tell she really couldn’t do it because she really cared about him. He really cares about her, too, which makes them so perfect for each other. They are each other’s strength and they push each other to become better & stronger
Marin/Aiolia — They’re really cute when they interact with each other and I’m pretty sure they’re an actual canon pair. They really care and confine in one another. I just honestly adore seeing them interact. They never really got to tell each other how they feel, but I’m sure they both know. I wish she would have gotten some more time with him because it’s kinda sad that she’s all alone now. ;;
Freya/Hägan —Hägan clearly loved her, but due to the strictness of loyalty in their culture, he couldn’t bring himself to betray Hilda. It upsets me what happened to them because they deserved to be happy. Poor Freya & Hägan. A lovely couple but terribly tragic. Hägan clearly misunderstood Hyoga & Freya’s relationship and must have thought that Freya loved him even in reality the only person she really loved was him and that is what breaks my heart. I was on the Freya and Hyoga train until Hägan showed up. Now, I can’t bring myself to ship them without feeling bad.
Hilda/Siegfried — Siegfried did everything for her and, in the end, he died because he believed in Hilda’s true vision. He wanted to doing nothing more than protect her and he died to help do so. It’s beautiful yet so tragic.
Hyoga/Eri — They’re just extremely cute together. I really loved their interactions. They deserve happiness and the entire world.
Ikki/Esmeralda — If you ignore that weird ass Shun thing, they’re cute. That should have never been a thing. I ignore it to hell and back but I do think they’re adorable and I feel for Ikki.
Shun/June — She only shows up once like why??? But they’re so adorable together. I wish we could see them both more, but unfortunately, she disappeared into the ether. I do believe she is perfect for Shun, tho.
Me/Deathmask — OTP. He’s my husband.
Shippings you don’t like/hate and why you dislike them?
Adult/Minor pairings.
Incest pairings.
Saori/Seiya — I don’t feel like Seiya likes her that way. I think Saori may like him. She’s always shown some special interest in him, but I’m sure Seiya cares about her more so as a goddess and friend than a love interest. Every time I see this ship, Seiya is acting weirdly out of character which really throws me off from the whole ship. Saori has shown to sometimes literally prioritize Seiya over everyone else when dropping Saga’s dead ass body to cradle him... It just rubs me the wrong way??? Seiya cares about her but he doesn’t react nearly as strongly about her as he does with Shaina. I don’t mind it being one-sided. She’s a girl and is allowed to have feelings, but I don’t really see her with anyone. I think she’ll probably grow out of it, but who knows. This ship is just really not my cup of tea.
Your favorite scene.
It’s hard to think of one, but the funniest scene is when they’re in Yomotsu Hirasaka. Deathmask is about to throw Shiryū into the pit, but then Shunrei’s prayers reach him and he gets so annoyed that he telepathically throws her off fucking a cliff. I don’t care. It’s comedy gold. I laughed so hard at that. Deathmask is truly a marvel.
Honorable mention: ❝ Maybe no else has a cloth made of ice that hasn't melted since before the time of... dinosaurs. Or... maybe no one else has powers like me, like the power over snow, ice, and even glaciers. In fact, you know what, Snake Eyes, maybe you should just think of me as your own personal Ice Age Dude! ❞
Your favorite Attack:
Hard question, so I’ll just name attacks I really like: Heaven Dancing Ring, Diamond Dust, Thunder Wave, Specter Punch, Phoenix Wing Ascent, Praesepe Hell Waves, Scarlet Needle Antares, Bloody Rose, Another Dimension, Wolf Cruelty Claw, Great Ardent Pressure, Greatest Caution, Dead End Symphony, and Imperial Phantasm Punch.
If you could decide for which god/goddess you fight, which one you prefer and why?
Athena. Despite liking Poseidon, Odin, Abel, & Poseidon, I like the army she commands the most.
If you could choose a Cloth. Which you would prefer?
Hard question again. I really like the Scorpio Cloth. The head piece is nice. I’m a sucker for the quack on the Cygnus Cloth and the Nemo on the Pisces Cloth, too. It’s honestly hard to choose one, specially if you count God Cloths, too. I did draw myself in the Ophiuchus cloth, so got the sake of this question, Ophiuchus Gold Cloth.
From which country you’re from?
America.
Your favorite season / sequel:
Sanctuary arc and the Asgard arc. Let’s get the money. Both do a fantastic job at world-building and I love them both equally. My favorite spin-off is The Lost Canvas.

What We Do in the Shadows Movie Review
Tumblr media
Opening Thoughts
I am so excited to get to return to doing Movie Reviews! I wanted to start off with my most favorite vampire movie of all time; What We Do in the Shadows. This movie is, in my humble opinion, the overall best vampire movie ever made, and I will fill this post with my arguments for this.
Watching Thoughts (Spoiler Alert!)
Such detailed sets and costumes. Lots of love with into this. The first reason this is the overall best vampire movie is because so many different types of vampires are represented, meaning it doesn’t matter what kind of vampires you like, there’s a character in there for every vampire fan. Relate-able. I also have an extreme aversion to dishes. ‘Vampires don’t do Dishes’ is a new motto of mine. Vlad is definitely the most quotable vampire. So many hilarious lines like ‘I was known as Vladislav the Poker.’ I LOVE the opening music in this. Another great thing I love about this movie is the human emotion these vampires seem to explode with. Ah yes, gotta have the sweet vampire x human love story for those romance lovers. Perfectly punctuated with an awkward trumpet. Something that people like to try to hide is the fact that vampires are awkward. By removing all humor, most vampire movies come off as waaaay too hoity-toity. This movie doesn’t take itself so seriously that they can’t make us laugh and enjoy the story they are telling us. They also make fun of the trope that vampirism makes you immediately a hunk or babe. A Trope which I think is a damaging thing. It keeps vampires boring and gate-kept. Where’s my cleft lip vampires? My midget vampires? Vampires with acne scars? Vampires who aren’t the hottest hottie hot who ever hotted hot? What We Do in the Shadows doesn’t have a glass ceiling saying who can and can’ be a part of the hellish legions. I would like a more in-depth look into the media of this universe. If they can find a vampire feeding on a man in the street, what is daily life for humans like there other than needing door-men to keep vampires out of the bar? Why are humans still in town? Does the vampire hunter that comes in later get paid? Is that is day job? And is Anne Rice a vampire in this universe? (Jackie named her daughter Akasha so we have to assume Anne Rice was still famous but was she still human?????) Ah, pedo hunter. That is one of the jobs I would love to have if I was a vampire. Clean up those streets! How does Jackie’s hubby feel about his wife having a master? Viago is a wonderful vampire but I find his method of finding prey to be the creepiest of the flat-mates. He reminds me of the boys who would pretend to like you while they orchestrated how to get you in bed. Every moment had a motive, and no matter what you said about your wants or needs, he’s going to take what he wants. Especially in modern times, vampires are a way to hide our sexuality in fiction, and the manipulative undertones of the romantic vampire did not escape my notice. Peter moves so smoothly through the window all I can imagine is him being pushed on a skateboard to get that silhouette. Which makes me laugh every time. The dinner scene is my favorite. Absolutely hilarious notes on virginity, mispronunciation of spaghetti, a great and blatant theft from the Lost Boys, and some really great special effects. By far the funniest scene in the movie. Not to mention, it runs into the best dance sequence of all time lol. Deacon and I would be best buds. As you may end up noticing in my novels, I am HERE for vampire turning scenes. I love how different it is for every story and even every vampire. Such a personal and extreme experience. I love it. When I was a kid I loved the idea that vampires can fly, but now that I am an adult I can only accept it if vampirism is a magical infection, not a scientific one. Luckily, these vampires can do all kinds of magic tricks so it’s fine and doesn’t bother me. Stew tickles me pink. He’s so confused. What would a modern vampire story be without the dance club? Sad and without dancing, that’s what. What is the point of living forever if you don’t truly enjoy the arts? I like the idea that the arts move vampires differently than people because it is the only way they can truly connect to humans, and their eternal lives allow them to have deeper layers of emotions that are stroked by artistic immersion. We even get a little vampires vs werewolf action for those who like that enemy dynamic (even though vampires and werewolves are rooted in the exact same myths, let them keep imagining this fight. Says a lot about the nature of humans to fight the self.) If a lion can be friends with a gazelle when not starving, so can a vampire be friends with a person, and I am here for it. Go Stew. Deacon and Nick are so similar in the root of who they are. Deacon is jealous of Nick and Nick is jealous of Stew. Deacon is just older and more careful. I would be a terrible vampire. People already grow up too fast around me while I sit in my house in dark rooms lol. My human pets would die left and right while I just kinda lost sense of time. Enter the other reason this movie is so good. Up until now it has been very funny with a few moments of gore and questionable morality. But now we get to see some sadness, which no vampire movie should be without. This movie balances humor with some gut wrenching scenes, like here where Nick can’t eat his favorite food anymore. They take a funny puking scene and make it sad and relate-able. The romance of vampires is stripped in this movie and they are shown for us for what they truly are or can be if we just let them; complex, strange, sat monsters that can hold our secret human feelings. Vampires help us explore humanity, sexuality, and mortality. They are our fears and our desires. They are us. Death is what all vampires truly embody. Our fear of death and the inevitability of it. Our desire to live forever no matter the cost, and the horrid truth that no matter how long you live, the sun will find you one day. The head blur was a good and simple trick to simulate turning a head 180 degrees. Even the vampires reacting to a house visit from the police is relate-able. ‘You will not notice anything out of the ordinary,’ she said under her breath, scooting the bong under the couch with her foot. They are very good at softening very sad scenes with humor, and toning down funny scenes with sadness, another thing many vampire movies struggle to do. I would have loved a little promo pamphlet of Wellington Vampire Laws. I would have read that shit out of that. We all have our Beasts, lol. I love that the ball is held in just some rental hall like a regular ol wedding or something. Not in a cemetery or an old gothic hall. Nope, there’s finger sandwiches and banners. I wish they would have touched on the fact that they treat witches as inhuman? I wanna know more. Again, vampires embody our fear of death, which includes our fear of age. It is inevitable, that as you age, you will outlive your friends, or they will outlive you. No one escapes without losing someone. Vampires allow us to face and figure out that fear a little bit (hopefully) before it happens to us and our loved ones. Loss is universal. No vampire movie could contend for overall best without exploring loss and how it deeply effects our lives. And we can’t feel loss without first feeling love. Loss and love are at the heart of what a vampire needs to touch our hearts. Without it they are just monsters. But a perfect movie wouldn’t end on a sour or somber note, in my opinion, and What We Do in the Shadows delivers a lovely and light-hearted wrap-up to the best vampire movie ever made.
Closing Thoughts
It doesn’t matter what kind of vampire fan you are, whether you’re an Anne Rice fan, only like pre-1900’s vamps, a fan of the vamp vs wolf stories, or a twi-hard, you have something for you in this movie. If you like romance, or the chase, or drama, or comedy, you have something for you here. If you like theater art or music, this movie has lots of special effects, acting tricks, and amazing music. It explores deep themes while never losing the pace of humor. It has adult jokes but not so many you couldn’t show it to your mom. And the credits aren’t boring, filled with more scenes and great jams. Leave a comment, reblog, or send me an ask and tell me; what do you think is overall the best vampire movie ever made. Do you agree with me or do you have something else in mind?

The 100
Top 5 favourite characters: Murphy, Echo, Raven, Emori, Octavia. Those are always at the top, but the order varies lol. Right now Murphy is winning because I keep thinking as of late how much I value his storyline, how different it is from your classic male hero part.
Other characters you like: Diyoza, Indra, Gaia, A.L.I.E., Becca, Luna, Niylah, Jaha, Anya, Monty, Harper, Josephine...
Least favourite characters: at this point Bellamy or Kane are below Clarke in my ~affections lol, but she’s still first in the list out of principle, until I know how things end xD
Otps: Emori/Murphy, Diyoza/Octavia, Echo/her entourage, Raven/an unlikely good ending, Clarke/Josephine, Indra/Sheidheda (with her killing him at the end of it, preferably :D).
Notps: Clarke/anyone but Josephine, Bellamy/anyone.
Favourite friendships: Raven & Echo & Murphy & Emori, Echo & Octavia & the Diyozas, Indra & Memori.
Favourite family: Spacekru (as of s6-7 minus Bellamy xD). Indra & Gaia’s relationship is one of my favourites too.
Favourite episodes: I’m going to go by season, Because: 1x10, 2x12, 3x11, 4x13, 5x09, 6x08, 7x10 (so far).
Favourite season/book/movie: season 5.
Favourite quotes: currently thinking a lot about “She said due North” and about Murphy’s rant to Clarke in “God Complex” and how it put the idea of turning herself into a nightblood in her head IMO.
Best musical moment: Murphy singing in 6x01 ofc.
Moment that made you fangirl/boy the hardest: getting the Diyoza-Echo-O team-up I’ve been dreaming about since s5.
When it really disappointed you: pfft. Most recently, with Raven’s current storyline (7x10 and 7x12 were an improvement but I’m not ready to be cautiously optimistic yet, given how little screentime and focus she actually had on them lol).
Saddest moment: been thinking about Raven’s reactions after Finn’s death lately too :((((
Most well done character death: I did like how they did Diyoza’s.
Favourite guest star: I really digged Josephine’s actress last year lol (apparently she’s going to be in a film with Richard Harmon? Josephine is living her best life somewhere lmfao).
Favourite cast member: acting-wise I’m all about Adina Porter (and of the younglings, Harmon, Morgan and Teles). And reading a few interviews has renewed my appreciation for JR Bourne.
Character you wish was still alive: I would love to hear Diyoza weight in on a lot of what’s happened after her death, ngl (especially wrt Bellamy like. I want to hear her Thoughts LOL).
One thing you hope really happens: that my faves’ endings don’t suck.
Most shocking twist: s7′s behind-the-scenes bullshit xD
When did you start watching/reading?: I started the show more or less as it aired (I think there were 3 or 4 episodes out?), but quit just as I started 1x13 because I was booooored. Then I only heard about it from afar until I heard of the s4 finale; I LOVED what I was getting from my dash, so I watched 4x12-13 and it convinced me to catch up before s5. I almost quit because I found 2x01 just as boring EXCEPT for Murphy & Raven’s scenes, that literally saved the show for me.
Best animal/creature: tentacle!Bellamy (jellyfish, in particular. Penance is Bellamygate 2.0 foreshadowing, people).
Favourite location: NOT BARDO THAT’S FOR SURE UGH. I’m an Earth gal. And I loved Becca’s island/house/lab.
Trope you wish they would stop using: sooooo many lmfao. Though it’s more recurrent lines/motifs than tropes (if I have to hear “bear it so they don’t have to” ONE MORE TIME!!!).
One thing this show/book/film does better than others: I think it has amazing female characters who’ve gotten unusual storylines (not all is good, but the good is great), and that they’ve done something amazing with Murphy, partially unconciously.
Funniest moments: I think I’m the only one here that hasn’t gotten tired of Sheidheda’s antics lmao.
Couple you would like to see: this late in the game I might prefer it if there were no new couples lol. But if the show decided to pull Niytavia or Echoven or something like that, with build-up, I wouldn’t be mad.
Actor/Actress you want to join the cast: same as above. And frankly, I’m not sure I want any more appearances of dead characters.
Favourite outfit: Emori’s Prime Looks have become my sustenance.
Favourite item: Raven’s raven necklace... it was so cute, I miss it.
Do you own anything related to this show/book/film?: nope.
What house/team/group/friendship group/family/race etc would you be in?: an alien in some planet none of these people will ever hear about, just living my life, chillin’...
Most boring plotline: the prequel’s backdoor pilot. I can’t convey just how little I care.
Most laughably bad moment: Morley’s acting in 7x10.
Best flashback/flashfoward if any: I love Octavia’s flashbacks this season.
Most layered character: at this point it’s Octavia sns.
Most one dimensional character: I mean, plenty of the newbies are one-dimensional, but I don’t mind because I don’t want them to take that much space and it’s not working terribly so far.
Scariest moment: Raven’s character assassination is terrifying.
Grossest moment: ... they seem to have climbed up of an alien’s butthole so. There’s that.
Best looking male: I remain strangely attracted to Richard Harmon lmao.
Best looking female: EMORI. HER FAAAACE.
Who you’re crushing on (if any): I would definitely crush on Emori. Or Raven. Or Echo. Or Indra. Or...
Favourite cast moment: Adina Porter and JR Bourne dancing in full costume lol.
Favourite transportation: the nice little rocket that’s saved spacekru’s ass multiple times :D
Most beautiful scene (scenery/shot wise): Penance had some beautiful shots. And Emori got a mirror scene!! There were a lot of beautiful shots in Morgan’s episode, too, like in the Becho flashback.
Unanswered question/continuity issue/plot error that bugs you: lololol. In all honesty, I try to avoid thinking about that and just ~go with the flow.
Best promo: given fandom’s frenzy... leaving Morley out of it might’ve been unintentionally genius (intentionally it was clearly just petty xD).
At what point did you fall in love with this show/book: there was plenty I loved in s1, but what I hated about it kinda cancelled it out. It was the s4 finale that did me in. If I can’t quit the show it’s because of it xDD

Gay Ask Game
Since when I was younger and still in the closet I found lots of comfort and help in other people’s stories, I have decided to answer all the questions from the “gay ask game!!” , in case someone were to find it useful. Here we go:
who/what made you start questioning?
I was on a bus, back from a school trip, and my best friend fell asleep on my shoulder. I realized that I desperately wanted to kiss her, and it was the first time I really wanted to do that with anyone, male or female. I freaked out. The repression and internalized homophobia started in that same moment.
how old were you when you started questioning?
Twelve.
what other labels have you used other than your current ones?
Straight and lesbian. I was terrified of being a lesbian after the Terrible Bus Incident, but I also liked boys, so I decided that made me straight. I dind’t know until I was seventeen that there was such a thing as bisexuality. I felt truly lost and deeply, deeply wrong.
tell the story of the first time you came out
I was in Naples with my very out and proud little brother. I came out to him in an underground station, and then we stayed up all night talking under the stars. It was beautiful. I was nineteeen.
tell the story of the funniest reaction to you coming out
Me: Dad, B. is not my friend. She is my girlfriend.
Dad: I KNEW you were not straight! I would have put money on it!
Me: ....yeah. Because I FREAKING CAME OUT TO YOU THREE YEARS AGO !
tell the story of the best reaction to you coming out
My best friend, after two hours of knowing her. She just smiled. It was the warmest smile I have ever received. I knew then that it would be okay.
was there a queer artist/show/book/movie that you listened to constantly when you were in the closet?
Haley kiyoko, Troye Sivan, “Pride” and “Brokeback Mountain”. Nothing really helped like Destiel and Johnlock fanfiction, though.
ever called out/stood up to a homophobe?
Many times. The worst was my former best friend. Her insults still tear me apart years later, but life is like that: we lose people we love, we grieve, we move on.
favorite queer celebrity?
Probably Ian McKellen
favorite queer character?
Max from Black Sails
have a childhood crush that you didn’t realize was a crush until later in life?
When I was like eight I straight up wrote a poem about a friend’s green eyes and read it to her.No one thought anything of it, myself included. I remember the scene perfectly.
if you had to do a gay lip sync dance performance, what song would it be to and what would your outfit be
Titanium in a rainbow dress.
favorite gay music video?
Hayley Kiyoko, “Sleepover”. I have been in love with it since it came out.
"how did they not realize i was gay" moments?
Not many, tbh. I was good at hiding that part of myself.
gayest photo of you?
Probably this:
Tumblr media
happiest pride memory?
I have never been at pride
talk about your first pride
See above.
fit any stereotypes about your sexuality?
I AM physically attracted to a LOT of people. I would never cheat, though.
FILL IN THE BLANK: if the heteros find out we can _______, they’re going to tell the church!
define ourselves
describe your type in a haiku
Feather-soft and strong,
A blushing summertime cloud,
Bolts hidden within.
describe your coming out experience in a haiku
My dull knife guts me
Like a fish on the pavement-
And yet I grow wings.
make an acrostic poem out of a label you use (sexuality, gender, pronouns, etc)
Brave little child
Immersed in a world of dreams,
Swallowed by a world of nightmares: are you allowed to
Exist? This world is black and white,
X and Y, rain or shine. There is no place for your
Unique sun shower, for your shades of grey, for the
Audacity of being undefined. You'll discover everywhere
Liminal spaces where you can trive, liminal times in which to love, a wonderful liminal life.

Buffy for TV asks, plz 😊
Heeey!!! Thanks for the ask! Sorry I didn’t reply when I should have. Tumblr didn’t send me any notifs on my phone, and I just turned my laptop on. Oh, Tumblr...
anyways... here goes
I don’t remember Buffy really well. I watched it on TV when it first aired (late 90s) and never again. So I’m going to try to answer this was the best I can with my old memory XD
Favorite episode and why That would be The Prom, 3x20. It has all the best elements. Her mom being protective (even thought she knows what Buffy is), friendship moments, Angel and Buffy dancing in a way that makes me UGLY CRY. And Buffy getting that umbrella.
Funniest/crackiest/it’s-terrible-but-I-still-love-it episode/scene
Xander saying “I laugh in the face of danger, than I hide it until it goes away”. I think it’s season 1 and Giles “do you like my mask? Isn’t it pretty? It raises the dead! Americans” don’t remember the season.
It’s-terrible-and-I-hate it episode/scene
Spike almost raping Buffy. I don’t care what people say about the episode and Spike. It’s just a huge NOPE!
Best episode/scene for my favorite character Buffy throwing herself at the end of s5. It hurts and all, but it was so good and she never looked stronger.
Best episode/scene for my favorite ship Bangel - two scenes comes to mind: The Prom and when Angel comes back from hell and sees her. It breaks my heart, it’s so beautiful.
Best episode/scene for a particular supporting character Willow crying and asking Buffy for help when she was high on magic, after the accident with Dawn. Allyson Hannigan is so good there it makes me cry.
Best episode/scene for a character I don’t usually like Honestly there are two characters I remember not liking: Faith and Dawn. Like I said, it’s been YEARS since I watched it, so I would probably change my mind if I watch it now. But I can’t remember any particular scene about them at the moment.
Most visually beautiful or interesting episode/scene There’s a scene in s3 where Buffy and Angel are walking holding hands and it’s snowing I think it’s really pretty. The white and all the softness makes it really beautiful.
Most emotionally affecting episode/scene Buffy finding her mom dead. I used to think about how would it be if I was Buffy and would start crying and oooff... that was so so sad. Also, Buffy saying she was in heaven and her friends brought her back to hell. The amount of guilt they were all feeling was heavy.
Most powerful use of music in an episode/scene Back when it first aired it was a bit harder to find the soundtrack of shows - especially since I didn’t speak english that well yet and the show was not that popular in Brazil. So there are only two songs I remember, both from the same episode. Close Your Eyes (when Buffy kills Angel) and Full of Grace (when Buffy leaves Sunnydale). I remember downloading both of NAPSTER (oh damn I’m old) and listening to it on a loop.
Here’s the episode if anyone wants to listen to.
Episode/scene that changed my perspective on the show Hmm...can’t think of any right now. But I was a teenager when the show was on. I’m sure if I watch it now I will see things from a different point of view. And that’s one of the reasons why I don’t feel like watching it again. I don’t want my feelings for this show to change.
Episode/scene where the acting stands out S6 with Dark Willow. Allyson was REALLY good at it. From being the sweet Willow we know to transforming into someone BAD and with rage and wanting revenge, the fight with Buffy and then the scene with Xander and the crying...SO SO GOOD.
Overall best-written episode I can’t say about the writing...but my favorite episodes that I remember now are season 2 finale, The Prom and s6 finale.

Prodigal Son, Episode 6: The List of Things Malcolm Is No Longer Allowed To Do Grows Ever Longer
Episode 6 of Prodigal Son, and Martin pushes for greater control over his family, Malcolm continues to be all kinds of weird and unsuitable, and Gil puts up with a whole lot of nonsense.
Spoilers below.
This week, we finally get to see Ainsley interacting with her father - a first for both us and for Ainsley herself, who has been kept well away from her mass-murdering father. Michael Sheen continues to be the most delightful serial killer on television, laying the charm on thick for his first encounter with his daughter in years. Ainsley gets sucked in, just as the audience does, bantering with her father and even laughing at his jokes.
“Seems a little exploitative. But then again, I’ve been exploiting others my whole life.” ”As a serial killer?” ”No, as a white man. We’re terrible.”
I admit it, I sniggered. As I did when Martin told Ainsley about the debutante ball he’d imagined for his little girl, in which she horrified Jessica by dancing to Single Ladies. It’s a compelling mental image, what can I say.
Martin’s claims that he’s been imagining a perfect life with his family for all these years is a little more questionable, of course. As his prison psychologist points out later in the episode, Martin’s chief focus is in maintaining control. Imagining idyllic family scenes in which he is the most important person in his family’s lives would be a good way to scratch that particular itch, especially in the times when he had no visitors to manipulate instead. Ainsley can’t help but be drawn in, though, especially given her real reason for visiting her father - to find out whether he loved his family, or simply used them as a convenient prop in his masquerade.
This is the same question that Malcolm and Jessica have been grappling with, with the same unpleasant consequences no matter what the answer turns out to be. Ainsley clearly wants her father’s approval, as Malcolm does, but there would be something deeply disconcerting in being treasured by a monster.
We also get another delightfully weird family dinner when Ainsley drops the bombshell that she is planning to interview her father for her news-report - and, more horrifyingly, that she has already been to see him. Jessica’s look of outright horror lasts a split second before she starts trying to regain control of the situation - and her daughter - in a fantastic bit of acting from Bellamy Young.
And then Malcolm sets his own sleeve on fire in an attempt to break out of a hallucinated conversation with his father, because of course he does.
Ainsley’s sudden desire for a father-daughter relationship worth writing about also cements the new truce between Malcolm and his mother, who are united in their desire to keep Ainsley as far away as possible from Martin. There’s the potential here for both of them to come across as wildly hypocritical, but it is instead played as two people determined to save another even if it’s too late for they themselves to be saved. Both Jessice and Malcolm are well aware of how easy it is for Martin to get inside your head - and just how hard it is to get him back out again.
The most surprising feature of the entire subplot was the moment when Jessica finally seemed to give ground - having realised that her attempts will only delay the interview at best, she seems to withdraw her objections, even if she can’t actively give her blessing. I’ve discussed Jessica’s apparent desire to control her children in earlier episodes and it’s intriguing that she begins to relinquish some of that control in the same episode that Martin’s issues with controlling his family are dragged into the open by the presumably underpaid prison psychologist.
Meanwhile, our little crime fighting family tackles the case of man stabbed over a hundred times, giving our resident coroner the perfect opportunity to snark, “And I thought I was an overachiever.”  (Sidenote, I am fully prepared to turn this show upside down and shake it until more than one scene with Keiko Agena falls out of its pockets)
Solving the crime involved Malcolm punching a Krav Maga teacher in the face, Dani pepper-spraying an obsessive mother, and JT asking all the important questions.
Malcolm: “On average, it takes three stabs at a four-inch depth to kill someone.” JT: “Where do you get a stat like that?”
The ultimate reveal of a mother covering for her budding sadist of a son was nicely done, if a little predictable. Malcolm being Malcolm, of course, he did choose to dig up the mutilated pet of the little boy and then drop it in front of the mother - thankfully, in a bag, but given Malcolm’s past behaviour, can you blame Gil (and me, quite frankly) for being worried?
(Once again, a moment’s consideration for whoever has to deal with complaints about Malcolm’s behaviour, and also for Malcolm’s therapist, who keeps fitting Malcolm into her busy schedule only to have him dash out to solve crime five minutes into every session.)
Also, serious bonus points for setting this episode during Halloween literally just so you can have a final confrontation with a little werewolf for added creepiness.
In our third and final plot-line, the ongoing question of the girl in the box edges a little further forward this episode, as Malcolm tries to track down the car in which he thinks his father once transported a body. The fact that he initially tries to do this by going to second-hand car salesmen is possibly the funniest thing in the entire season. Thank goodness for Dani and her ability to lookup partial license parts, although she has denied us the opportunity to watch Malcolm creep out every second-hand car salesman in the state.
Tune in next week to see Ainsley’s interview being interrupted by something terrible!
