OKAY BUUT your amazing same girl (Kuroko) edit has got me inspired! What about a fic where Kagami & Aomine catch up as friends (idk but can they both be pro NBA) and it happens like in the edit!? Lolol I feel like that’d be hilarious
Messing with the same boy
☽ author's note: before you read, please know this fic is supposed to be taken lightly- a joke. Please don't be upset or read if you don't like your ship in these scenarios. In the past, I had people flood my asks with "this ship is better than that ship," "this character would never do that," etc., anyway, thank you anon for requesting! I think you are referring to this post, and ha! I love that you ask this!
☽ pairing: implied kagakuro & aokuro
☽ content warning: cursing/ bad language

The flashing lights blinded Kagami as he made his way to the Cest Bon restaurant, where high-listed celebrities dine in Los Angeles.
"Who are you having dinner with, Taiga?" "Aomine Daiki? He arrived a few minutes before you!" "Tell us how you felt losing your last game!" "Are you having dinner with Daiki?" "Is this a date?"
"Just friends catching up," Kagami gave them a tight smile as his team led him through the crowd of paparazzi.
Answering the paps was a mistake as the paparazzi kept shouting questions at a faster rate.
"But you and Daiki have an ongoing rivalry!"
"Do you two get along outside of basketball?"
"What's your blood type?"
Even after Kagami's security team opened the doors to the restaurant and Kagami stepped inside, the paparazzi were at the door snapping pictures.
"Ah, Mr. Kagami," The french accent of the waiter was heavy. "Let me show you to your table. Mr. Aomine arrived a few minutes ago."
Kagami nodded and followed the man through the restaurant until they approached Aomine, who smirked when he saw Kagami, and Kagami grinned at his friend.
"This is your table," The waiter said, "Please, Mr. Kagami, Mr. Aomine, drinks are on us. Thank you for choosing Cest Bon tonight. A waitress will be there shortly to attend you."
"Thank you," Kagami gave a slight bow before he pulled out his seat and sat in front of Aomine.
"Thought you weren't gonna make it," Aomine took a sip from his wine glass.
Playfully rolling his eyes, Kagami replied. "I was like 10 minutes late, dude."
"Yeah, well, time is money, baby." Aomine winked. "But, I'll let it slide since I haven't seen you outside of games."
"God," Kagami groaned, closing his eyes. "Don't talk to me about games. My ego is taking a fucking beating."
"Yeah?" Aomine pushed his hair back and smugly smiled. "Heard you lost your last game. What happened there?"
Kagami shook his head. "It wasn't my day. I can't believe I lost to the Nets. The fucking Nets!" Kagami leaned on the table, closer to Aomine. "My team is giving me shit for it! But the fuck was I supposed to do when the Nets fucking three-man block me?"
Aomine laughed, "I know- saw the game. You're carrying your team. Not your fault; your team can't do anything without your assistance."
Kagami huffed out in amusement, "Right. You get it. You carry yours all the time."
"Oh yeah, most definitely, yeah." Aomine nodded, picking up his drink again. "They ain't shit without me. But hey, the Cavaliers pay me handsomely, so who am I to complain?"
Kagami was about to agree when a waitress walked up to their table.
"Good evening, I'm Elizabeth, and I'll be your waitress tonight." Both men turned their attention to the woman.
She was hot— dark-skinned, soft brown eyes, tall, with an hourglasses figure.
Unfortunately, both men were in a relationship of their own. Neither flirted with their waitress, and they ordered instead. And as much as the waitress eyed them, Kagami and Aomine didn't return the favor.
"Will that be all?" She gave them a friendly smile.
"Yeah," Aomine waved her off.
"And more wine, please," Kagami held up his glass. "Red, Pinot noir."
The waitress nodded, promising to be back in a few with their meals.
"She was cute, huh?" Kagami started the conversation. "I'm surprised you didn't hit on her."
"Why would I hit on her?" Aomine raised an eyebrow.
"Because she's exactly your type?"
"Nah."
"Really?" Kagami raised an unimpressed eyebrow. "She had big—" he motioned to his chest.
"Tits?" Aomine replied with a sly smile.
"Breasts." Kagami blushed at Aomine's choice of words, and he slightly narrowed his eyes. "She had big breasts."
"She did," Aomine agreed, "But I already got someone at home."
"Oh, for real?" Both of Kagami's eyebrows rose, and his eyes widened a bit.
"What— Don't look so surprised, asshole!" Aomine clicked his tongue. "I'm a good boyfriend."
"What's her name?"
This time, it was Aomine who turn was to blush. "It's a guy."
"Oh shit."
"Yeah," Aomine looked away, his cheeks hot.
The waitress came back with a bottle and their appetizers. After she left, Aomine quickly shoved a piece of shrimp in his mouth.
"Since we're talking about relationships," Kagami picked up his spinach roll-ups. "I—uh— also have a boyfriend."
"No shit," Aomine chuckled, "Would you look at that?"
"Who would've thought?"
"Not us," Aomine grabbed one of Kagami's spinach rolls. "We should do that couple shit and have a double date."
"Actually," Kagami covered his mouth with his hand as he tried to finish his roll. Once he swallowed, he said, "That's not a bad idea. I really wanna introduce you to this guy."
"Yeah?" Aomine said with his mouth full.
"Yeah, I think he might be the one." Kagami looked down, soft pink hues on his cheeks. "Like, I can see myself marrying him and starting a family."
Aomine softly smiled at his friend. "Well, tell me about him. I wanna know why he has you all whipped."
"Okay, but only if you do the same with your boyfriend." Kagami grumbled, "I wanna know how someone would willingly date you."
"Ha, ha, ha," Aomine joked, no harm in his glare towards Kagami. "But ight. I can also see myself marrying my current boyfriend."
"Okay, what do you wanna know?"
"Anything," Aomine smiled, "Look, he isn't even here, and you're already blushing like a teenager in love." He pointed at Kagami's blushing cheeks.
"Shut up!" Kagami covered his cheeks, "Okay, well, uh, he's so fine."
"Oh?" Aomine pressed for Kagami to go on.
"He's like 5'6," Kagami smiled fondly— as if he remembered a cute moment between him and his boyfriend. "He's got a nice built."
"Damn," Aomine thought about how his boyfriend is also the same height. What a coincidence.
"He used to play basketball back in high school, I think," Kagami grabbed a shrimp from Aomine's plate. "He's got the cutest smile and big blue eyes and light blue, soft hair ."
Aomine was beginning to find it freaky how his boyfriend also played basketball in high school, had a cute ass smile, big blue eyes, and light blue, soft hair. He couldn't count how many times he's run his hand through the soft strands.
"Oh, plus, he moved from Japan like a few months ago." Kagami threw the shrimp in his mouth.
"Wait a motherfucking minute," Aomine swore; his heart stopped beating for a second because his boyfriend had also moved from Japan to Los Angeles. "Wait a goddamn minute."
"What?" Kagami looked at him, confused.
The match-up from Kagami's boyfriend to Aomine's was eerily similar. There's no way his Tetsu would cheat on him, right?
It must be some weird coincidence. Right?
"Does..." Aomine's throat grew dry. "Does he have a dog?"
"Yeah," Kagami visibly shivered. "He loves that mutt."
Okay, don't panic. Anyone could have a dog. Aomine's heart began beating out of his chest.
Tetsu has a dog too.
"Loves vanilla milkshakes?"
Kagami looked taken aback. "How did you know?" He raised an eyebrow.
Holy shit.
Holy fucking shit.
"Does he got a beauty mark on his left hip?" Aomine felt sick as the realization was setting in.
"..."
"Went to Teiko Middle school?"
"...How—"
"Is your boyfriend a kindergarten teacher?!" Aomine tightly grips on the glass of wine.
Kagami looks at Aomine with confusion. "Do you know him or something?"
"Man, I can't believe this shit, damn." Aomine wanted to cry right then and there.
"What's wrong, dude? Why do you keep looking at me like that?" Kagami grew uncomfortable. "I'm your best friend, so just say what's on your mind."
"Fucking—" Aomine buried his face in his hands. "I didn't know you were talking about him."
"Do you know him or something?"
"Do I know him?" Aomine pulled away and let out a dry laugh. "Like the back of my fucking hand, Taiga."
"I'm not getting it." Despite saying that, Kagami looked at Aomine, horrified. Deep down, he didn't want it to be true.
Kuroko wouldn't cheat on me. He loves me.
"We're fucking the same guy!" Aomine covered his mouth with his hand and looked away, pained.
Kagami blinked.
"Kuroko Tetsuya?" He whispered.
"That's the fucking one!" Aomine snarled and looked around. No one seemed to notice his outburst. "That's the love of my life you described."
"We're fucking the same guy?"
"The same fucking guy," Aomine repeated.
Kagami and Aomine sat in silence for the next ten minutes. When their main dishes arrived, neither made a move to eat.
"Daiki, how did you two meet?" Kagami finally asked with a downcast.
"Meet him at a party Satsuki threw a few months ago when he first moved to LA." Aomine wasn't even hungry anymore. He wanted to confront Tetsu.
He wanted Tetsu to tell him that it was all a mix-up. That Tetsu has a secret twin, no one knows about.
"Well, I met him at a party Kise threw a few months ago when Kuroko first moved to LA." Kagami scratched the back of his ear. "I asked him if he had a boyfriend, and he said no."
"That's funny," Aomine glared at him. "Because Tetsu said the same to me."
Kagami nodded, not knowing what to say.
Please tell me this isn't true. That Kuroko, my love, is cheating on me— tell me it isn't true. Tell me that he's loyal to me, and only me.
"He told me I was the love of his life," Kagami deeply frowned.
Aomine scratched his head awkwardly. "Yeah, well, you ain't special, buddy."
Kagami played with his steak, poking it with his fork. "Damn, he told me I was the light to his—"
"Shadow?" Aomine finished Kagami's sentence.
"How did we not notice? Tetsuya's been at every single game I invited him to," rubbing his right eye tiredly, Kagami let out a deep sigh.
"He does have a low presence," Aomine pointed out. "It's easy for him to get under the radar."
"That cheeky little shit."
"How come I have never seen your name pop up on his phone, though?" Aomine looked up, complexed. "Surely, you two texted as much as we did."
"We texted and talked on the phone all the time," Kagami sadly smiled. "But, uh, I have no clue. I've never seen your name pop up on his phone either."
"Now, I wished I got my hands on his dark blue phone sooner."
"Dark blue?" Kagami looked uncomfortable, "He has a red phone."
"No, he's got a dark blue one," Aomine pulled out his light blue phone— the color of Kuroko's hair. "We have matching phones— his phone is dark blue because that's my color, and my phone is light blue because that's his color."
Kagami felt his eyes sting with tears. "That's really fucking hilarious." Kagami forced a laugh as he pulled out his phone and threw it onto the table.
It was a light blue color, just like Aomine's.
"We also have matching phones— his phone is red because that's my color, and mine is light blue because that's his color."
Both men didn't say a word after that.
They were trying to process the love of their lives, their potential husband, cheating on them with each other.
Neither wanted to say who was the side piece. One had to come before the other, right?
Their broken hearts would not be able to stand being the other man.
They had the worst dinner of their lives- eating in silence and avoiding eye contact with each other.
The paparazzi captures Aomine and Kagami leaving the restaurant together by the end of the night.
Neither of the men stopped to take pictures for the magazines or fans.
Instead, they walked away from the restaurant in opposite directions, neither turning back.
Kuroko Tetsuya managed to break the hearts of two all-star NBA players, and he had no clue about it.

Help I can't stop thinking about this headcanon I had when I was in an angsty mood where Momoi gets kidnapped and is found dead and since her parents aren't in town at that time they call Aomine in the middle of the night to identify the body then after confirming it's hers indeed, he goes to Kagami and tries to cry but nothing comes and he's heartbroken and Kagami cooks something for him and tries to comfort him. It's making me really sad :(( how do you think he'd be like after her death? How would the funeral go? Would he write her a eulogy?
i'm sorry this took so long but this is SO sad holy shit i had to be in a mood to finally answer so. here goes
i think for a long while aomine wouldn't even be able to process it. he'd be extra snappy with everyone, and he'd storm off, and he would wait and wait for momoi to fetch him except that hours later he has to realize - momoi is never going to scold him for being a dick again.
if she's found murdered, aomine would want blood. pound of flesh for hers. he would be filled with rage, he would be violent, he would see red until justice is served.
as for the funeral, well. the whole gom would be there, and kagami. akashi's holding kise's shoulder, gives him strength to help him keep the tears in - he knows that it's gonna be like dominoes, once one person starts crying about their best girl, everyone follows. kuroko is only keeping it together because he wants to support aomine, but his fists are shaking with anger as well, kagami can see. i think imayoshi or her parents would give a speech, because even though aomine's good with words (occasionally), he's not keen on sharing them with a big audience. especially not with a crowd with every single person perfectly capable yet unwilling to keep satsuki safe. (including him. he's not worthy of having been her friend, either.)
i'm putting my own heartbreaking scenario under the cut since it's from a half-finished fic and i have hopes that someone might read it one day
so in Teacups, Gunshots and Other Tales From This Side of Mortality, which is essentially a detective aomine au with mainly aokuro, i have aomine with a prosthetic leg and a tendency to talk to momoi in times of trouble. she seemingly appears out of nowhere all the time, but what the reader later should find out is that momoi is actually a "ghost". not a real ghost per se, but someone who haunts aomine's conscience. see, he got into a car crash from some faulty breaks and bad weather - he was driving, and momoi was riding shotgun. they hit another car, flipped around, barely avoided explosion, but aomine's leg was badly injured, so much so that it had to be amputated. and as for momoi, she died in the accident, and aomine never, ever forgave himself for that.

WIP Roundup
I was tagged by @taigainside and @izukillme, thanks guys!! <3
I’ve already laid out my full list of WIPs for this prompt, so I’m going to take this opportunity to talk about a few I didn’t get to touch on, as well as discussing some of my currently updating fics.
everything under the sun
the massive, self-indulgent pastel/punk college AU I’ve been waiting to write for over two years now. I think I’m finally going to tackle it next month for NaNoWriMo (at least to try and get it to 50k, the structure and milestones might motivate me and help me along). I’ve talked about it a little before, drawn some things for it, and made a playlist, but I still don’t think y’all realize just how deep this thing goes. the logline is “Kagami doesn’t realize what he’s getting into when he agrees to meet the rest of Kuroko’s friends”, but the real gist of it is trying to capture the impact people have on each other’s lives, the wonderful weirdness of the college experience, the feelings of being young and in love... it’s the most ambitious project I’ve ever taken on, part of the reason it’s taken so long to get to the point where I can actually write it, and let me tell you *slaps roof of 14-page outline doc* this baby can fit so much self-projection in it. I’m excited and terrified and you should be too.
Full-Frontal (or, “draw me like one of your American boys”)
AoKaga nude model AU. they... say write what you know? I’ve got this one outlined and have started to draft it out, but I haven’t made any serious progress just yet. it’s just a oneshot, and it’s very self-indulgent, but it’s a nice simple project to come back to when the others get too stressful.
beards (re: playing it straight)
I’ve had the idea for awhile now of writing a real fake dating AU, in which the fake pairing never actually get together, and help each other get with other people instead. basically, Aomine and Momoi are each other’s beards, it’s a mutually-beneficial arrangement since Momoi is secretly with Riko and is tired of fending off hopeful straight guys, and Aomine is still in the closet and doesn’t want to deal with relationship advances of any kind. things get complicated when Momoi suggests breaking off the deal so she can be with Riko in the open, but Aomine is still in denial and clinging to the illusion, despite having finally met someone else he actually wants to be with.
worst kept secret
part of my Aomine/x collection... there is no plot whatsoever, the only thing you need to know is the working title for a long time was “the glory hole fic”.
Crazy = Genius (+Balls To The Walls)
I’m planning on writing an Aomine/Oikawa crossover someday, just you wait. these two titles refer to what would essentially be two parts of the same concept, the first from the alternating points of view of Momoi and Iwaizumi, who are at turns completely baffled and weirdly understanding of Aomine and Oikawa’s nonsensical relationship. the second would follow the boys themselves, and show exactly what kinds of insane scenarios they get themselves into.
The Night We Met
the AoKuro time-travel fic nobody asked for, inspired by a song of the same name by Lord Huron. in the middle of Aomine’s post-Teiko slump, he’s suddenly transported back in time to the moment he and Kuroko first met. he’s then forced to essentially relive middle school, with all the memories and knowledge of how things will eventually pan out still intact. I’ve got this one about half done already; it should be around four or five chapters long by the time it’s complete, I’m just trying to wrap up one or two existing fics before I publish any more WIPs.
and speaking of wrapping up existing fics...
Hoist the Colors
the AoKaga pirate AU I started to take my mind off being trapped in quarantine, after binge-watching the entire Pirates of the Caribbean series back to back and listening to the soundtrack for several days. chapter one (out of five-ish) is already completed, and I’ve got a very clear outline for the rest of the story, I just need time between projects to string it together.
Bring Me Roses
why yes I am still planning on finishing my AoKuro Florist/Tattoo Artist AU, thanks for asking! I’ve got foreshadowing and subtext to follow through on and more flower symbolism to write, I can’t just leave it hanging forever. I’ve got about half of the second part already written out, and I know exactly where it’s going, I just kind of lost steam somewhere in the middle and have to find the motivation to pick it back up.
I’m tagging: @bakugoukatsuki-rising, @hybristophilica, @meiyanaalexia, @hadenxcharm, @spaztictwitch, @homiro and anyone else who’d like to give this a go!

I really, really need to stop writing this same plot over and over. Sadly, I don’t have the time for a more nuanced version of this fic, so have the second/end part of my last fic less than two hours before the end of AoKuro Week.
Tetsuya tries not to spend the rest of his week reconsidering his life. He’s still a college student. Even if he decides not to… Even if his plans change, he’ll still need to get a job. A decent degree helps with that. To get that, he needs to go to class.
Even that seems a bit different. He knows a few of his classmates quite well by now. He knows which are together, which are dating, which aren’t serious about relationships. That’s all information he couldn’t have cared less about when he was in high school, but when he graduated he told himself he had to know or he couldn’t further his own search.
It wasn’t wasted time. The interest had made him seem approachable. He’s made friends easily.
It had also, indeed, been a calculated effort, but the friends he’d gotten aren’t any less real because of it. He had had no intention of tricking them or anything of the sort. Who doesn’t try to make new friends when they change school? He had been the same person he had always been. He’d hoped that would have been enough for a woman. The woman. The one he’d wanted all his life in the vague way you want to have money and a nice house when you think about your future. He couldn’t have described her if you asked him. He’d thought it was because he was open to anything, but to listen to Aomine-kun, maybe it was because he would accept nothing.
Some people find their true love late in life, don’t they? Just because he hasn’t felt desire for someone yet doesn’t mean he’s not… normal. Maybe he’s just a late bloomer.
Or maybe he hasn’t tried hard enough. There has to be a woman that would seduce him at first glance. Someone that would create that spark of attraction he can see between well-matched couples. He’s been envious of that. Some people had chemistry so obviously tying them that anyone with eyes could see it. The closest he’d ever come to it had been on the court, when he’d found it so easy to predict his partners’ movements.
In a way, he’d been looking for someone like himself. Someone that would seamlessly insert themselves into his life, unnoticeable until you needed them, at which point they would always be there for you, supporting you in the shadows. Maybe he’d wanted to be someone’s light, for once.
But that’s not really his nature, is it? He’s never chosen that kind of person for himself. All his friends, all the people he surrounded himself with, are the center of attention anywhere they go.  Not that attracting more attention than Tetsuya is hard, but he remembers how crowds part and people turn to stare when he’s out with Kagami-kun or Aomine-kun. There’s Kise-kun, who prefers to create crowds around himself, or Akashi-kun, who could beckon one in a matter of seconds if he felt like it. Even his teammates from Seirin had presence when the situation demanded it.
In conclusion, maybe he needs to be more honest about what he enjoys.
_____________
He knows that’s not what Aomine-kun met, but he still goes through a phase of reevaluating all his acquaintances with a more open heart. He’s trying to see if he could have ignored the woman of his dreams because of his stupid preconceived ideas.
Alas, the miraculous answer he’d been desperately hoping for doesn’t present itself. He still can’t find a woman that would make his heart beat faster. He remembered what Aomine-kun said. He would pick none of them before his old friends. He can’t see himself ever doing so.
It isn’t a fair comparison. He spent months, years in some cases, with those he would sacrifice himself for.
It still doesn’t make it any less true. No woman he’s ever met has lit any kind of fire in him.
It’s with slightly trembling hands that he calls Aomine-kun. Aomine-kun had said to call him if he needed help. Tetsuya could do with some stability at the moment.
_____________
Aomine-kun comes over with groceries. He sits Tetsuya down at his tiny table and monopolises his kitchen, but not before coming back with a cup of green tea.
Honestly, Tetsuya feels a bit out of his depth. Aomine-kun can be overprotective if provoked, but it’s not usually this obvious. Tetsuya cannot remember a time when Aomine-kun rushed over like this, not even for Momoi-san.
He must have been worried.
“Here. Food.”
Tetsuya throws him a slightly bewildered look. “Don’t you think you overdid it a little?”
Aomine-kun blushes a bit. Good. He won’t be the only one fumbling. “Shut up.”
His nikujaga looks good. Probably his mother’s recipe.
Tetsuya’s mother also made quite good nikujaga. He’d expected his wife would, too.
Aomine-kun answers to his sigh. “So. Not liking the conclusion you arrived at?”
Tetsuya wishes Aomine-kun would just let him eat the (frankly better than he expected) food he prepared for him. “Not really, no.”
“Wanna talk about it?”
“After dinner, maybe.”
“Sure.”
So they sit in silence at his little table. Tetsuya wonders how he can make friends this attentive (when they feel like it) without that ability somehow translating to romance. Wouldn’t that be nice.
They wash the dishes together. Tetsuya tries to pay him for the cost of the ingredients, but Aomine-kun declines.
Once everything is where it’s supposed to be, Aomine-kun once more sits him down with tea. Strange. As far as he knows, Aomine-kun isn’t particularly fond of the drink. Tetsuya is, though.
“Now’s the time, Tetsu. Talk.”
Tetsuya sets his cup down. “There’s not much to say, really. You were right. I’ve never really felt any attraction for womankind in general. I didn’t… I never realised. I kept thinking it would happen when it would happen. Maybe there’s something wrong with me.”
“Hey, there’s nothing wrong with you. Even if you never find that girl you want, you’ll be fine. You’ll still have all of us. Better than nothing, right?”
Tetsuya wipes the self-deprecating smile off Aomine-kun’s face with a light slap on the back of his head. He’s disturbed. There really is something wrong with Aomine-kun today. Tetsuya was so focused on his own issues he missed it completely. “Aomine-kun, is something the matter? You’re acting strange today.”
Aomine-kun’s hand flies up in a dismissive gesture. “Nah. Don’t mind me. Tonight’s all about you.”
This is not helping. “I’m going to have to insist.”
“You probably won’t like it.”
Tetsuya frowns. Whatever is troubling Aomine-kun needs to be dealt with. How he’ll feel about it doesn’t matter. “Please let me help. You came all the way here for me. It’s the least I can do.”
Aomine-kun sighs. It’s a deep sign. “Don’t say I didn’t warn you. Look, I really thought you were just not into relationships, and well, sex, at all, but you’re obviously for the first one, and now I’m wondering if you might just have been… barking up the wrong tree.”
“I’m not following.”
“I didn’t think you would. Look, have you ever thought… Maybe you’re not the problem. Maybe women are. Maybe they’re just not your thing.”
The tightening of his throat surely has nothing to do with what Aomine-kun is implying. Nothing at all. “I’m still not sure I get what you mean.”
“You’ve obviously spent your whole life dreaming up this perfect scenario of how you want your future to end up, and I’m thinking maybe you’ve blocked everything that would have not fit within that narrative. You get where I’m going now, right?”
… “No I don’t. Please make yourself clearer or stop talking.”
“Look, don’t punch me, but this is going to be the most effective way of getting my point across.”
This, apparently, means sliding over to where Tetsuya is, raising a hand to his face gently, and, while Tetsuya is still disoriented by this unfamiliar gesture of affection, kiss him right on the mouth.
Tetsuya just… blanks for a few seconds. He has no idea what is happening, or how he should respond, or if the warmth he’s feeling is normal.
The moment passes, and Tetsuya pushes Aomine-kun off with more strength than necessary. “Aomine-kun! What were you thinking!” How could he possibly think… This cannot…
Aomine-kun jumps on his feet. “Sorry, sorry, my bad, I know I shouldn’t have. I’m gonna go now, have other things to do, see you later. Bye.” And before he knows it, Tetsuya is once again left alone in his apartment, wondering how things went so wrong.
_____________
His sleep, if you can call it that, is troubled to say the least. There’s a part of him that’s… distressed at the recent developments. He’s very fond of Aomine-kun, but he’s never thought of him, of any of his friends, like that. He wouldn’t. He shouldn’t. He can’t.
He thinks about his mother and can feel both their hearts breaking. He can’t.
There’s another part that doesn’t understand why Aomine-kun dared. Why would he… Aomine-kun has everything. He could have that perfect life in a heartbeat if he wanted. Why Tetsuya? Why a man at all, when he can have any woman he wants? That’s just… He said it himself. He doesn’t have to be abnormal. Why choose to?
Finally, there’s a part of him that is sick of all of this and just wants to ignore it all until it goes away. Tetsuya doesn’t have to listen to Aomine-kun at all. He can just go on. He’ll find someone willing to marry him somehow. Tetsuya will make it work. It doesn’t have to be a love story for the ages. Most marriages aren’t.
Morning comes. Tetsuya doesn’t care. He’s tired, both in body and soul. He’s not going to school today. Classes can wait. He’ll just have someone share their note with him. Let’s just go back to bed and try to sleep a bit better.
It’ll be hard, but he can try.
_____________
It’s five in the afternoon and Tetsuya is trying to focus on his stupid book. For some reason, it can’t keep his attention. Maybe he should go to library to pick something better. It’s strange though. He loves this book.
Someone is trying to tear his door down.
Tetsuya isn’t in the mood.
Whoever it is isn’t in the mood to stop knocking either, apparently.
Tetsuya resolves to make the intruder leave as soon as possible. “What.”
Kagami-kun’s large frame blocks all the sun from entering his apartment. “Open when someone knocks, stupid.”
He so isn’t in the mood. “What is it you wanted, Kagami-kun? You’re disturbing me.”
“From what? You’re still in pajamas. Are you sick on top of whatever’s wrong between you and Aomine?”
Tetsuya freezes. “What? What about Aomine?”
“You tell me. He called me and asked me to come check on you, and since he was worried enough to think you needed checking over but wouldn’t do it himself, I figured he was the problem. Do I need to punch someone? If yes, which of you?”
“Him. Definitely him.”
Kagami-kun stares. “Huh. So something did happen. What was it?”
Tetsuya can’t help it. He blushes bright red.
“Okay, never mind, I don’t wanna know. Look, I don’t know what he did, but I’m gonna say something nice about him for once in my life, so listen. Aomine might be an overconfident asshole that I can’t stand ninety percent of the time, but for some reason you can, so. He really cares about you, okay? He went ahead and called me of all people to come over. He asked me for a favor. Me! For you. So whatever he did, he probably knows he’s in the wrong. Just call him and put him out of his misery. Get him to treat you to Maji Burger, he’ll go for that.”
“Kagami-kun, it’s not the kind of problem you solve with food!”
Kagami-kun looks flabbergasted. “Are you serious! It’s that bad!?”
Kagami-kun is mocking him. Probably. “Some problems aren’t easily solved.”
“They’re not solved at all if you don’t do a thing about it.”
…He’s not wrong. “Fine. I’ll call him.”
“Good kid.”
“I’m going to hit you.”
“I’m going to laugh it off. You’re too weak to hurt me.”
…What a jerk. “Go already.”
“Fine, fine, I’m leaving. Tell Aomine I did my job. If he’s not gonna treat you, he better take me.”
Tetsuya just slams the door behind him.
And stares at his phone.
And stares at it longer.
More staring won’t hurt. Staring has never hurt anybody.
…That’s really enough stalling. He has to end this.
Ring. Ring. Ring. “Tetsu?”
“Hello, Aomine-kun.”
“Are you okay? Please don’t kill me.”
How can someone, anyone, resist this order of priority? “I’m… not okay. I’m not going to kill you.”
“…That’s not what I’d call a good start, but at least I’m still alive in that scenario. Good enough, I suppose.”
“…Why did you do it?” He knows he doesn’t have to say more.
“It seemed like the most efficient way of making my point?”
And Tetsuya is completely dumb. “It also seemed like a good way of getting punched.”
“I can take you. You have no muscle.”
What’s with people calling him weak today? “Not the point, Aomine-kun.”
“…The fact that you didn’t argue scares me more than the rest of the conversation up to this point. Who are you and what have you done to Tetsu?”
“I have no idea who I am, and I also would like to know what happened to Kuroko Tetsuya.”
Silence on the line. “You’ll find out. Everyone does. Life happened to Kuroko Tetsuya. It has a tendency to change people. It’s a thing.”
“I would prefer it didn’t.”
Snort. “Not your choice to make.”
“You still haven’t answered my question.”
“So, on a scale of one to ten, how honest do you want me to be?”
That doesn’t augur well. There’s been too much honesty lately.
Nevertheless, he’s never asked for anything less than the truth. “Ten.”
“I’m going to have to say you won’t like it again.”
“Ten, Aomine-kun.”
“I figured I could kill two birds with one stone. You’re not straight, that part’s been obvious for a while, but you might be in denial, so if you’re not disgusted by the kiss, you know you might be gay. And hey, if you are, maybe I would do. I mean, I would never be your ideal woman. Since you asked for honesty, I don’t think anyone could.  But sometimes, it’s not what you want that you need. If you don’t try it, how would you know?”
Maybe he should be more surprised than he is at the declaration that Aomine-kun is at least a little attracted to him. He isn’t. He had to be. Otherwise, it made no sense.
It still doesn’t. “Why don’t you pick a serious girlfriend? You could. You told me you could. You could have a nice, normal life.”
He knows just the face Aomine-kun is making over the phone. Exasperated, but in a quiet way. “I don’t know if you could get it. It’s not something I’ve longed for like you. I give no fuck what other people think of my relationships. If they approve, great. If they don’t, fuck them. Not literally. I want something, I go for it. I didn’t make a move on you because I thought you weren’t interested and I wasn’t gonna make things awkward, but if there’s a chance, I wanna take it. For what it’s worth, I’m sorry if it did fuck things up.”
It did. It didn’t. Maybe Tetsuya has much to learn from Aomine-kun. “I… don’t know where I stand.” This isn’t, nothing about this is what Tetsuya has planned for himself. The job, the house, the children, the wife. His mother, happy. Nothing about this long-cherished dream will come true if he lets himself listen to the siren song of Aomine-kun’s philosophy. Taking what you want without care for the consequences. Following your impulses, never minding where they will take you. Forgetting the rest of the world and just living for yourself.
He doesn’t think he can.
He believes he should.
He’s not sure he wants to.
“I’ve never… You know this is nothing I wanted. I don’t… I’m not sure I can handle it.”
“That’s fine. If you can’t, you can’t. Take it easy.”
In a way, he’s been taking it easy his whole life. “I’ll try. You’re going to have to be patient, but I’ll try.” It’s not for Aomine-kun. Not really. Maybe nothing will come out of it.
It’s for himself. He needs to know himself better before he can pick a direction.
“Tetsu, I’ve been patient for years. I can take it. I’ll be there if you need me, always, okay?”
This, he can handle. No matter what else happens, this, he believes. “Okay.”

hyperburn3r replied to your post “Hypothetically if your oc could interact with mine, who and what would…”
Chain would be fairly chill with most, although some friction might come up between him and the succubi/incubi; Fume would probably interrogate some of the more supernatural ones on how they function
Fume is going to have a good ol’ time with the Kyza-Berkinvix twins then haha, Even they are still wondering how to fully function themselves in their little shells/doll bodies! But nonetheless, since both Aokuro and Fume are aggressive and straightforward, I can imagine their personalities conflicting a bit.  There’s a few supernatural ocs I possess, so the scenarios of them getting interrogated is quite funny and interesting to me.
Though Chain having some friction with the cubi species is very interesting as well!

Aomine: So, how do you feel about using old memes?
Kuroko: I honestly hate people using memes that have expired. It’s not funny anymore.
Aomine, shoving breadsticks into his pockets: I came out to have a good time and I’m honestly feeling so attacked right now.

Aomine: What? He hasn’t been here, has he?
Kuroko: Smell that?
Aomine: Smell what?
Kuroko: The room.. It smells like Chanel No. 5 and betrayal.

Kuroko: Aomine-kun, given your daily life occurrences, you’re going to have to be more specific.
