Hey Storm, I rewatched June 2022 festa dinner today. Tae says he and JK shared a room in their dorm and he'll miss that. I thought Jk had his own room. Did he not?

In 2018 5th ARMY ZIP magazine they shared more about their dorm room layout. Their apartment in Hannam-Dong 'The Hill.' It had 4 official bedrooms. Joon, Jin and Suga all got the back furthest bedrooms to themselves. Jimin and Hobi shared the largest bedroom together as roommates. JK and Tae spilt off half of the living room and turned it into a bedroom, including building a divider to spilt the room in half so that they has their own rooms even if they also still shared the "living room" bedroom. So the answer is yes, he did have his own, but also no, he didnt lol.

Before this in their first dorm, they all shared one bedroom. In their second dorm, YoonJin shared, Namkook shared and Vhopemin shared. Then yoonjin shared, vmon shared, jihope shared and JK had his own space. What's your opinion on the iconic taekook cheek kisses (from the 5th army zip i believe)? Do you think they were just sweet gestures, or do you think it had a deeper meaning for them? And what do you make of the members comments in the background?

Interesting question, anon!  I don’t think I’ve ever really talked much about this moment on here.

Obviously it’s an incredibly sweet and adorable moment, but I’m finding it difficult to think through what meaning I feel it has.  I guess that’s partly because it feels really layered to me, so I’ll try to peel the layers back a little bit.

For one thing, this moment is fanservice first and foremost, the whole string of interactions is fanservice.  The content is paid membership content, and the whole setup is happening because fans will enjoy it.  The idea, for anyone who may not know, was that each member took a turn sitting in front of the camera, and then everyone would walk by them and say something nice to them, basically.  

All of them, rather than saying something, ended up kissing Taehyung -- some kissed his hand, his head, and only Jungkook kissed his cheek.  Then when it was Jungkook’s turn, everyone said something to him except Taehyung, who also kissed his cheek.  No one else kissed Jungkook, Taehyung didn’t kiss anyone but Jungkook, and even though everyone did kiss Tae, Jungkook was the only one who kissed his cheek.

My biggest takeaway from this moment personally has always been TK’s reactions.  Tae is clearly moved, and giggly, over everyone kissing him.  If you watch the whole clip, he’s constantly laughing a little bit or holding laughter back, but as you can see in the clip shared here, he really gets blushy and laughs a lot when Jungkook kisses his cheek.

And then Jungkook just looks surprised and sort of stunned, in a happy way, when Taehyung later kisses him on the cheek too, and he keeps that stunned expression even after the next member comes up to him.

I feel like their reactions to each other are noticeably more dramatic than their reactions to the other members, which does seem telling to me.  Then there are the members’ reactions too.

I’ve seen some contentions regarding the fan translations of the members’ reactions and what they’re actually saying in the background, but I feel like even if you leave those translations out of it, it’s again noticeable that there’s a difference in their reactions to these TK moments than all the others.

They’re louder, more involved, there’s some cheering and there’s also some discussion, regardless of what that discussion may exactly be.  They weren’t that invested for anyone else, and that also seems telling to me.

Overall, I think we have to keep in mind that this moment happened first and foremost for the fans, but I do think there are details we can take away from it that point to the fact that it wasn’t just for the fans, and that there’s something more between Taekook than what’s there for the others.

The fact that everyone’s reactions were so much more pronounced for these TK cheek kisses, as well as the fact that they were moved to kiss each other’s cheeks in the first place, would seem to me to suggest that there’s a difference in their relationship and that this moment was an expression of that for them.
