Though he's still a much nicer uncle than he is in canon, he actually needs some time warming up to Wei Wuxian after accidently time-travelling together with him. It's also extremely cute to see how much Wei Wuxian enjoys running around younger Lan Wangji and playing with him. Excerpt: A few days later, Lan Qiren caught sight of Wei Wuxian running alongside Lan Wangji, trying to make him smile and shouting non-stop: Lan Zhan this, Lan Zhan that. Really, the only thing "wrong" that Wei Wuxian did, was rely on his belief that Jiang Cheng could and would, choose to be a better person and would stand by him in equally hard times. But, Jiang Cheng was too self-obsessed and bitter to see it as such, which was why he said and continued to either say Wei Wuxian just had a hero complex, or, Wei Wuxian was a traitor. Wei Wuxian chose the ones that needed help, as he always did, over selfish self-serving. He had nothing to gain, but Jiang Cheng told the world and allowed it to say the exact opposite.

I'm still on hiatus, but I caved in to drawing and sharing these sketches because I've been playing Hollow Knight to calm my nerves. It's nice to draw more simple shapes for once.

Anyways, this is Luana and Floris (not introduced yet) as...bugs. In a bug version of Tovera. Yeah. Extra explanations under the cut.

I don't know how to communicate their powers and other quirks in Hollow Knightverse speak, since of course my systems are different from HKverse's. But the is one thing I do know is that the snails' manipulation of soul very close to Luana's magic type (as she is one of the few people in the story that can use pure magic as a weapon in and of itself), and they even live in burial mounds, which fits her species well.

As for Floris, he's royalty, a descendant of someone who's treated like an ancestor of all ancestors, a powerful spell-slinging first monarch (so something like the grandson of the grandson of the grandson of the grandson of a Pale Being-like figure) so he can have a few higher being like traits as a treat.

Originally, Luana was a weaver, but since only witch characters weave sigils and the like in story and that isn't her primary way of using magic, I decided to go with the species that more closely resembles her mage class, that being a mixture of neighbor/theurgist.

Floris was also a weaver/higher being hybrid like Hornet, but now he's kinda mosskin-like/higher being hybrid. For spoiler reasons, I can't get into the nuance of his HKverse self's whole biology.

Just to clarify: I'm by no means the first/only person to have this idea. It's been a minute since I was fully immersed in the mdzs fandom, but I do remember a handful posts and fanfics of a similar nature. The whole Sunshot arc after Wei Wuxian comes out of the Burial Mounds, he's ripe for some body horror and demonic possession. 👌

Slowly dying in the Burial Mounds and offering his coreless, broken body as a vessel for the dead in order to prolong his existence and exact his revenge? That's the good shit right there. Bonus points if he comes out of Yiling even more unhinged, the phantom stench of his own rotting corpse so strong in his head that he keeps forgetting he's not still there in the Burial Mounds. Sometimes his hands become stiff with rigor, his body forgets it should be hungry, his veins forget how to bleed.

Maybe Wei Wuxian's first fierce corpse was himself.

i feel like it’s kind of obvious by now that jin zixuan is my favourite character but when i say that if i think about lan jingyi or wen ning for too long i start spinning in circles so hard that i begin to levitate
