My submission for @erithel 's Gone comic contest 💜 This comic is such moving story of trauma, sacrifice, and love (with a happy ending), and it's been very special to me. She has these reoccurring themes of reflections: how two people can experience the same event very differently; and how trauma can be reflected back at you even after the event is over. Probably the image that hit me the hardest was Lance collapsing in the shower, overwhelmed. It's so real. And the idea of him trying and not being able to take comfort in his element (water), is so poignant. Erithel is an amazing artist. Go read Gone and follow her if you aren't already 🥰

I blame my sister for this au because she made me watch the miraculous evil alt universe special and the idea of an evil universe has inspired me.
Behold the Reverse AU.
Wu ends up getting bit by the Devourer instead of Garmadon, and he ends up taking over Ninjago. Ninjago is full of crime, with many gangs fighting over territory and tormenting the civillians trying to survive. Wu rules with an iron fist, often sending out his ninja to do his dirty work like kill whoever stands in his way. No one knows who lies beneath the masks, but their mere presence strikes fear in everyone.
There is a light of hope in the form of the Resistance. Led by Garmadon, he hopes to reclaim the Golden Weapons and defeat his brother to restore peace to Ninjago. Alongside Misako, Nya & Lloyd, they aid the people and fend of Wu's ninja.
While the ninja are mercilous, underneath their masks they're just four sad teen boys who are also trying to survive in this cruel world.
The Shadow Ninja hates having to be this mercillous killer, but he has no other choice, or Wu will stop providing medicine for his sick mother. He can't loose her, not like he lost his father to some corrput tax collectors, even if it means having to break his promise to his mother.
The Azure Ninja has no where else to go. He ran away from his neglectful father, who cares more about collecting money then his own son. Wu found him, and despite how much he wants to run away, where does he go? The streets are no place for a child to wander around.
The Ivory Ninja knows no other life. He is souless machine built to serve Wu. He is the loyalast out of the ninja to Wu. But...why does he feel disgusted whenever he takes a life? Why does he feel sympsthetic to those who run away from him in fear? What would a life among the people be like?
The Scarlet Ninja has only one goal, save his sister from Garmadon, no matter what he has to do. Garmadon kidnapped his sister, who knows what he's doing to her! He will endure the pain, the violence, if it means he'll be able to get her back. If only this samurai stopped getting in his way.
Slowly but surely, the Ninja defect and join the Resistance...after many conflicted emotions and acheiving their True Potentials by finally defying their Master. But they still have a lot of work to do to restore peace, especially with an even greater evil presence hiding in the shadows...

To preface, I think that Beau and Caleb are fine, and somewhere in Exandria they're being super effective using their respective 10 strength scores to try to smash their restraints into a rock before giving up and trudging off to find a smith shop or an arcane store. HOWEVER.
I am thinking about what a HORRIFIC few moments they just had. Of course they're here chasing Ludinus to this end, because that's what they set out to do, but I don't think there was any imagining in their epilogues to what extent this would go. They signed up for riskier-than-average private investigation work and found a plot to unleash a second Calamity.
And then, when it came down to it, they failed.
They were about as trapped and restrained as they could be, fully at Ludinus's mercy. Behind the charm, did Beau think about how much Yasha was forced to do when her will wasn't her own? Silenced and without magic, did Caleb remember being at the complete mercy of another Cerberus Assembly archmage?
And amidst it all, when was the last time Beau saw Yasha and their kids, whom she's had for no more than five years? When did Caleb last visit Veth or speak to Essek? Does he even know where Essek is right now? Do any of the Nein know specifically where Beau and Caleb are?
They've failed, they're trapped, and they're restrained in ways that explicitly cut off any possible way they might tell their loved ones goodbye, let alone warn them about what they are near certain is about to happen.
And the nature of what looks inevitable in that moment means that even that warning would mean nothing in the end, because while Beau and Caleb are already trapped, there is no escape for anyone in Exandria if Ludinus gets his way.

the thing is, this is all running into a soft reboot for the show, it's RTD closing the chapter on 'Time War veteran, Lonely God' Doctor, which we've had for 18 fucking years and honestly there's not much more you can squeeze out of it for angst without repeating beats and elements and what have you
cos like, that's how he reinvented the show for the time he was bringing it back to - it couldn't be just be a silly, slightly manipulative dude in a box pottering about and solving mysteries and arguing with a bloke covered in bubblewrap and stringcheese, this was when a lot of sci-fi and fantasy shows were all about drama and action and sex. so RTD throws in a big lore event, the Time War, the Doctor is now a battle scarred, traumatised figure who has a reputation so big just invoking it can scare monsters away
there's only so much you can spin in circles before it starts getting repetitive (and in another 8 years NuWho will have been running just as long as Classic Who). so we get these specials to celebrate the history of the show, both classic and new, which also serves to introduce new lore, revisit old faces and pack the Time War shit in a box and chuck it in the attic. it's over, we've moved on (for real, this time)
people are gonna get shirty about the lore. because they always do. and here's the thing, everything about the 'lore' of Doctor Who is retcons stacked on retcons. the Doctor was never originally planned to be a Time Lord from Gallifrey, both of those terms were added in later (Gallifrey didn't get named until 1973). this show runs on stupid shit, it's meant to be fun before it's anything else
as a general rule, don't take shit more seriously than the idiots making it

Oh. Oh I just had a thought.
Sonic Prime AU where Sonic loses a leg and gets a prosthetic made by Nine (or something) but like. What happens after the day is saved and Green Hills is eventually restored...? o.o
I'll find ways to make it worse too. You can count on it. Thinking battle scars... and I'm sure there's some other things.
OOOOOO WHAT IF HE GOES DEAF TOO? >:D
His friends are asking all these questions about the sudden prosthetic and scars and stuff but he can't hear shit and he's already stressed and his hands are shaking so he can't quite sign and I'm just- OUGH.

[Before Law can get a word in edgewise explaining how he would rather not. Luffy's gone in a whirlwind. Or a typhoon. Any natural disaster that left the land devastated in its wake. Law is left standing in the middle of the cafe, clutching his phone as the door slams shut behind Luffy, the bell ringing his exit.
Law slumps into his stool, suddenly exhausted.
“Sorry about him.” Nami says sliding into the seat that Luffy just vacated, “He’s like that. Once he takes a shine to you, that’s it. He’s all in. He has no care about whether you want to be his friend or not.”
“We’re not friends.” Law mutters. Nojiko snorts into the mug she’s drying, “I barely know him.”
“I’ve been friends with him for years and I barely know him.” Nami responds with a shrug, “That’s just Luffy. Count your blessings that he likes you. People he doesn’t like usually get punched in the face.”]

Soooo... How about an enemies to lovers, slow burn, arrange marriage au fanfiction, where Bo-katan and Armorer have to get married to unite their clans that used to fight with each other since always to take the Mandalore back from Gideon and the Empire.
And we can see how slowly their relationship is evolves from "we do it only for our people and it doesn't change the way I think about you" to "maybe we are the same no matter which way we choose" to finally "oh dear lord... I think I'm in love with you".
Should I write it or at least try?

paramedic/EMT dick is so good omg :o i hadn’t thought about that one
i have seen social worker dick which also felt really appropriate (also love that for jason) but!!! EMT actually feels like it works better to me???
thank u for putting that thought in my head~
ahhhhhhh!! i am so ecstatic i could put the thought of emt/paramedic!dick in your head hehehehe
paramedic!dick is so special to me<3 it very much i think hits what dick needs and wants out of his civilian life but also directly influences his vigilantism too
my main three takeaways are these:
it's a highly rewarding but deeply traumatizing career and it scratches his innate need to help people without violence & fear
it's a little bit more training than a police officer but i think covers a field of knowledge dick knows but doesn't know intimately like he does criminal justice or law. it would also benefit his "night" job to be more equipped to handle traumatic injuries
ems schedules are chaotic and all over the place especially if the garage is down a paramedic or ALS provider or just overall understaffed but the overall structure of it would be good for dick (if he can balance his work-vigilantism life healthily, depending on how you write him)

This is headcanon stuff, but I think my favorite idea when running with the Gehrman/Maria as a father-daughter duo and Eileen/Bloody Crow as a mother-son pair is the downfall parallels that can be made between both relationships and how both parental figures lost their kids.
I like to imagine Maria pulling away from Gehrman because of what happened at the Fishing Hamlet…when he betrayed her trust with the hunt, but years later…there was hope of reconciliation because Gehrman was willing to put the hunt itself aside for Maria. I think that would be really angsty…because then Maria’s mental health by that point was so low due to other issues that she ended up giving into full despair anyway. Gehrman and Maria’s potential rekindling of an old bond was maybe too little too late. ;-;
As for Eileen and Crow, I picture it as being a very slow process to build up trust because Eileen starts out as extremely closed off emotionally. She believes attachments are dangerous things that compromise a mercy-killer’s mission. She expects everyone she knows to lose their mind eventually, and that she’ll have to be the one to put them down, but despite it all, she just can’t help getting attached to the little crow she saved as a child.
He becomes her heart in a sense, but the years of silence on her end allow feelings of insecurity to root themselves in Crow’s mind, and so when Eileen finally starts admitting her feelings and trying to help him during his descent into insanity…he doesn’t trust it. He pulls away because he doesn’t believe Eileen won’t abandon him if he falls far enough. Post-insanity he sees her very differently but that’s too far into fanfic territory.
It’s not actually a betrayal of trust, it’s a perceived betrayal of trust. So, in a sense, both mentors lost their students to the darkness because of a lack of more immediate action or an immediate action that hurt them. It’s about what was said and what was never said ;-;
And maybe Gehrman thought he could make things right even after Maria’s death, and maybe Eileen thought she could still bring her little crow back, but it was just too late. The kids were both gone, and their mentors/surrogate parents just were left to deal with the pain of that loss.
