The weather gets colder and his behavior gets so much stranger... To others, anyway. You're well aware of this little routine Alastor goes through every year

You know immediately why Alastor is suddenly so much more interested in travelling with you. Normally, he'd simply ask where you were going and send you off easily, but now he's insisting that he goes to your work with you to "protect" you even though you have nothing to worry about

He feeds you like he's an Italian grandma. If he's not with you, he's in the kitchen making something for you, but if he is with you, he's dragging you to the kitchen to make something for you

He gets increasingly nitpicky about your diet and lifestyle. Generally he's a normal amount of annoying with everything you do, but it gets crazy when he's in rut

Suddenly he's insisting that you work too much and he needs to pamper you

He only allows you to eat food that he's made, which tends to be from scratch. How is he supposed to know who made these noodles? Who the hell laid these eggs? Fuck this, he's getting a chicken.

something about the first few episodes of the terror having so many numbers. the men, the provisions, the inventory; but also the tension of counting. the scene where goodsir takes a picture of john franklin and his men and he's counting down the seconds. the lashes being counted down during hickey's punishment. and something about how in later episodes, numbers get lost. dates get forgotten. counting just stops. all of it becomes insignificant. like it was a countdown at first but now the time is just running out instead

Zoro is the type who can and will eat the same exact thing every day for every meal. And while sanji would never be picky about what it is or what state it is in , he revels in the fact that he has the freedom and recourses to cook a different dish every meal he makes. He has a general rotation of comfort meals he makes to fit the whole crew’s taste , but he also presents a brand new dish that none of them have really heard of or tried at least once a day.

Their library has like almost a full wall dedicated to cook books cause sanji just has to buy a cook book from every island they dock at. (Robin actually funds this habit of his cause to her , food is one of the most important ways of documenting the history of a civilization. She also just enjoys seeing her nakama ecstaticly reading in the galley.)

So it’s honestly surprising to the crew when suddenly every afternoon snack they have is some type of onigiri. Usually with whatever weird fish luffy or ussop has caught. When they ask why sanji just says that it’s a really simple and filling snack. It tides the bottomless pit that is luffy over and it doesn’t drain his kitchen dry. It makes sense , sanji makes like 6 meals a day to make sure everyone gets the proper nutrients and that luffy doesn’t go feral. So they let it go.

That doesn’t mean they don’t notice what’s happening though. Sanji isn’t exactly being subtle when he personally serves zoro his plate every day. It’s an honor only reserved for his lovely ladies and yet every afternoon there is a plate of extra large onigiri being shoved into zoros face. And as if that wasn’t subtle enough , the red ears and blotchy cheeks he wears on his way back to the kitchen is rather obvious. But what takes the cake is the soft tune he hums and the dumb smile he has in what he thinks is the privacy of his kitchen.

They haven’t told anyone about their relationship , and yet it’s silently shown to the crew every day in the form of a dish sanji has made more in the past 3 years than any dish he’s ever made in his life.
