Ny'Ari peered sidelong at the man muttering forlornly beside her in the cramped tavern. Quietly, she took in the man's attire - long, slightly dirty blond hair, a mage's robe in need of good washing, and boots in need of mending. Had they been in any other locale, she would have assumed he was a beggar. Well, aside from the old but immaculately cared-for staff strapped to his back.

The elf turned to gaze back into the near-barren depths of her wallet. She had only a few bronze coins to spare - a portion dedicated to getting something to satisfy her grumbling stomach. Had it been an average day, she would have chosen to silence the offending organ with some bitter amber swill. Unfortunately, today was one of the rare times that sustenance was required to be in the form of solid food.

Sighing, she shifted her index finger inside the leather bag, secretly hoping the movement would dislodge a non-existent coin. Against her better judgment, Ny'Ari proceeded to subtly question the mage beside her, "Forget your wallet?"

All I Know is that I Can Not Go Back

She closed her eyes tightly. She didn’t think she would be affected like this but everything that went down with Sebastian made her skin crawl like never before. From the Church of Blood drugging and brainwashing, Project Starfire, Star Labs, it was all too fucking much. “It’s just me.” He whispered softly and wrapped his arm around her.

“That’s the problem.” She muttered under her breath.

“What do you mean Kory?” He turned her chin slightly so she was looking into his eyes. They were wide and hurt was decorating his deep stare.

“I don’t know if you’re ready to have this conversation.” She stood up straight and crossed her arms in front of her body, effectively shutting him out in case he decided to disappoint her again.

“What conversation?” He steps back and mirrors her pose crossing his arms and narrowing his eyes.

That’s how it always is with him. She wants to have an honest conversation and his wall of invulnerability starts forming in front of her, brick by brick.

“About us. About what happened in Metropolis?” She raises her chin at him.

Alright as it is Trans Day of Visibility (Hi still not cis, still here etc.) and the final day of the extended Trans Rights Readathon I thought I would post about a few more of my favorite books by trans authors because hopefully everyone will be reading books by trans authors and about trans characters/topics all year round. Because to me this day is about supporting others in the community as much as anything else. The world is pretty on fire right now so if you can support a trans creator, artist, organization or friend today (and beyond) then do it!

So here are a bunch of shorter reads: books, graphic novels, novellas etc. I didn't really notice how many novellas I had been reading recently till making this list, but there is something about a wel- written short book that just really works for me. Also a lot of these just have really creative or lovely concepts and I am a sucker for those. Plus the characters in these are soooo good! Also a lot of these have lovely audiobooks or e-books, hence me not having a physical copy (yet). Many of these have trans characters as well, but not all of them. Though most have some form of queer rep because I don't read much that doesn't. I included muliple by some of the authors, including sequels because... I just really like them and couldn't pick just one. Most of these authors have other books that are also wonderful. And these are just a handful of examples, there are so many fabuluous books by and about people who are trans.

I sit here wondering how Ny’Ari would get along with Anders. 

I think DAO: Awakening Anders, they would get along pretty well. It wouldn’t be an automatic click, but a rather calm getting-to-know-each-other friendliness. Cautious, if you will. Anders believes Mages should be free; Ny’Ari agrees. He never actively (that I know of) killed Templars unless prompted. He just wanted to be a free person, which Ny’Ari can sympathize with. He sees injustice in the world, but his main priority is to get out from under the Chantry’s clutches first and then help others? Ny’Ari doesn’t 100% get it(because she stayed within Elgar’nan’s inner circle to distract him from what Solas’ rebellion was doing under his nose and get as many other slaves freed as possible), but she can respect it - especially since he can’t help anyone if he’s tranquil. He’s also funny, quick-witted and always up for a bit fun. 

Sadly, Ny’Ari isn’t awake from Uthenera yet to meet DAO: Awakening Anders. 

She’s only in Kirkwall the final 2 years of DAII (which spans 10 years). She made an acquaintance with Fenris and Sebastian first; who introduced her to Cullen who gave her a job doing the more unsavory/not-chantry sanctioned work that needed to be done for to try to make Kirkwall a better place to live. She had restrictions on what she would do -- only Mages she would hunt were slavers, and that was a more personal request. 

Being so late in the game, Ny’Ari would have only met the Anders/Justice combo that had slowly corrupted into Vengeance. I wholeheartedly believe that neither Justice nor Anders wanted it, but Anders has too much rage, and Justice has seen so much despair in Kirkwall it was inevitable.

Ny’Ari is no stranger to Vengeance having been in service of Elgar’nan. That particular flavor of spirit was ever present, so it wouldn’t have turned her off so much as make her uncomfortable. Having not been in it’s ilk's presence after so many years after the fall. 

What made her cold and semi-hostile after meeting Anders would be that she saw the same look in his eyes when “justice” wasn’t “awake” inside him as she saw in Solas just before the world that she knew went up in flames. 

It wasn’t madness - that wouldn’t be the correct word. Both Mages knew what they were doing before they did what they did. They had their faculties; They knew right from wrong. It was the idea had become a sentient, living parasite in their head.  It was the way a child looks before a tantrum when they’re frustrated, asking for help and no adult is listening to their plea. 

If someone had just listened to him, had helped him instead of trivializing the plight he was fighting against, the chantry wouldn’t have blown up. They could have came up with another way to make them listen. Anders says after the explosion sitting at the table with their back to a Friendly Hawke that he didn’t tell Hawke because he didn’t think they would listen -- because very few people listen.

Then you have Ny’ari who did listen to Mage with the same look in his eyes and watched the world burn. She didn’t want to get involved with him; didn’t want the blame of another world ending; didn’t care about this world. She needed to get to where she felt an Evanuris’ power to try to restore her own world -- who cared if this little city burned?

So no, Anders and Ny’Ari wouldn’t get along in DA2.

Ich war in Lübeck (Nerd-Edition)

Was habe ich gelernt?

Ich dachte immer, der "Krähenteich" ist so ein insider-Name. So, wie bei uns im Dorf der kleine Bach "Mühlenbach" heißt, ohne offiziell diesen Namen zu tragen. Aber nein, der Krähenteich heißt offiziell so und ist auf der Altstadt-Insel und allen bekannt - ups.

Also natürlich war ich da! Und siehe da: es wurde sogar der Krähenteich zum Drehen benutzt als er in S2E11 vorkam!

Und im Rathaus war ich auch. Die Treppe sieht bis auf die fehlenden Kerzenleuchter genauso aus wie in S2E1 :D (Näher ran durfte ich nicht, aber ich habe höflich gefragt, ob ich ein Foto machen darf.)

Und zu guter Letzt. War ich bei der Villa. Beim Haus. Am fucking Arsch der Welt. Sie wurde in den letzten 20 Jahren allerdings renoviert, ist nun in Privatbesitz und hatte auch ein sehr deutliches "Kein Durchgang"-Schild. Also ist das alles, was ich vom Haus habe:
