One week.

It’s been a week since the party.

It’s been a week since you saw him. And he is still in your dreams.

Every night it’s the same. You meet, you live life together, he leaves, and you wake up. Every night you are forced to relive the memories.

Let’s just say, you’ve been miserable.

You are currently watching FRIENDS while Peter is laying down for a nap. You are deep into the thanksgiving episode, about to fall asleep, when the doorbell rings. Who the hell is that?

You drudge to the door and swing it open. You are immediately hit with the same brown eyes you have dreamt about all week. Before you can process anything, you shut the door back and it suddenly becomes hard to breath.

“Bear, please open up.” Shawn says through the door.

You have no idea what you should do. You know what you want to do – keep the door closed in hopes that he will leave – but you are unsure of what the right thing is to do. You go against your better judgment and open the door again. You try to say something, anything, but you are speechless.

“Thank you. Can I come in please?” He asks and you just nod your head, turning around to go back to your spot on the couch.

Shawn sits down on the opposite end of the couch, leaving plenty of room between the two of you.

“Umm I uh I need to talk to you...” Shawn stutters.

“Then talk, I don’t have anything to say to you.” You spit, staring straight ahead, refusing to look at his face.

“Ok, umm I’m sorry for everything.” He says quickly. You look up at him, expecting more. Instead, he just looks into your eyes like a sad puppy. You can’t help the laugh that come out of your mouth

“Unbelievable.” You get up from the couch and start pacing between the coffee table and the television. “That’s all you have to say?? No explanation, nothing?? Cause I am so done listening to your useless apologies. You figured out where I live and came all the way here just to say I’m sorry again? Fuck no, I deserve more than that.”

“You’re right, you do.” He simply says. You look at him expecting more and, once again, are disappointed when he drops his head into his hands, saying nothing.

At this point, you are clueless. You resume your pacing and begin to rant, “I really don’t understand you! You say one thing and you do the opposite. You always said you wanted me in your life and then you left. After the paparazzi started spreading those fucking rumors, you disappeared! Next time I saw you was on a morning show. A fucking morning show! Even when the host asked about me, you acted like I was nothing. Want to know how I felt? Actually, I’m just gonna tell you. I felt betrayed, I felt alone, I felt abandoned!-”

“I did that to protect you!” Shawn interrupted you as he stood up, running his hands through his hair – what he always does when he is stressed.

“To protect me?? How is leaving me protecting me??”

Now Shawn is the one pacing, “I thought that it would be better for you if you weren’t in the spotlight. I thought it would be better for you just to live your normal life back home. I thought I was doing what was best for you!”

“And who do you think you are to make that decision for me?”

“I thought that’s what you wanted!”

“I wanted you!!”

Shawn freezes his pacing with his back to me. Hands by his side, he slowly turns back to face me. “What?”

“You heard me, I wanted you. I didn’t care what it took or where it took me. I just wanted you. I would’ve gone to the ends of the earth to be with you. Obviously, you were too blind to see it.”

“You wanted me?”

“Yes, Shawn.” You run your hands through your hair, tugging at your roots.

“What- Why?”

“Because I fucking loved you.” You answer quietly and his eyes shoot up to yours. Tears threaten to fall as you stare back at him.

He begins to step towards you as you both hear “Mommy?” come from the other room. Shawn closes the space between you and places his hands on both sides of your face.

“Bear, look at me please.” He says softly. You surrender to the man standing in front of you and look into his eyes, your eyes filled with tears.

“I’m so sorry for everything. Please forgive me.” You give up and slowly nod your head between his hands. “Give me a second chance to make up for it, please.”

You ponder that thought and for the second time today, go against your better judgement.

“One more chance.”

His face lights up and he wipes the tears that had fallen onto your cheeks.

“Thank you.” He simply says.

“Mommy?” Peter says from his room again. You back up as Shawn drops his hands.

“I need to get him.” You quickly say and rush off towards Peter’s room. You open his door and he jumps off his bed to come to you. You bend down to pick him up.

“Did you have a good nap, baby?” He nods his head. “Alright, let’s go get a snack.”

As you head into the kitchen with Peter in your arms, you realize Shawn is no where to be seen.

You guess he let himself out, but you are left wondering if that was real or all a dream.
