Currently overthinking: how obsessed some of fandom is with the idea of punishment for the sake of punishment, instead of learning from mistakes, and how the Jedi are very clearly team learn and grow.
The most “punishment” thing I can think of that we see the Jedi do is assigning Ahsoka to archives duty, but that is clearly meant as ‘get you off the front lines and have you reflect on your actions’ time, not so much a true punishment.
Where we see the Jedi go hard on proclaiming their allegiance to team learn and grow is Dark Disciple (if you haven’t read and don’t want to be spoiled, turn back now because I am about to spoil the shit out of that book).
Vos falls.
Not just dabble a little in the dark side falls.
Falls and pledges himself to Dooku and kills Jedi and clones.
Jedi Knight Kav Bayons
Jedi Knight Akar-Deshu
They died because of Vos.
It can be argued it was unintentional (Vos shoved Deshu into Bayons causing Deshu to sting Bayons. Losing his stinger also would have killed Deshu, but Vos killed him first) but that doesn’t change the fact that Vos is responsible for the deaths of two Jedi, as well as the clones killed in his escape with Dooku (catch me being forever salty over the unnamed clones who die).
He goes by Admiral Enigma and terrorizes the GAR for months.
When the story resolves and Vos returns to the light, do we see him thrown in prison? Executed?
No. We don’t see either of those things.
We see the council intentionally obfuscate and hide these facts from the military (because the military does love punishment and executions).
We see Vos confined to the temple while he heals.
We see Master Yoda spend extra time with him to ensure he rehabilitates successfully.
We see a probationary period to determine if he has really came back to the light.
This is extra important because earlier in the story we saw him return to the Jedi and fool them (some of them, Master Windu was so suspicious of him because Master Windu is a smart smart person)!
And yet, they still believed that he could return to the light and should be given that opportunity.
And he does! He comes back. And he resumes his role in the war. And when everything falls apart he continues trying to help.
And he gets that opportunity because the Jedi do not believe in punishment as justice the way some do.
Repentance and growth. That is the Jedi.
And yet, every day, I see people trying to set the Jedi up as enforcers of prison terms and executioners, because they don’t think people got what they ‘deserved’ in canon.
But that is all a gross misrepresentation of the Jedi.
Ahsoka’s trial and possible execution was not the way the Jedi would have proceeded- it was the GAR and the Republic. Which is probably why the GAR ensured the Jedi couldn’t handle it themselves - there would have been no justice theatre and no blood.
It is not pro-Jedi to insist on punishment and retribution as justice. At its heart, punishment is revenge. And revenge is not the Jedi way.

Vor and Kairi are both like "Okay, change is really scary and tbh I'd prefer things to just stay the same, but! I acknowledge that change is inevitable and so I will confront my fears head-on and adapt!" and then they each choose a course of action that falls on an opposite extreme.
Vor leaves her friends (potentially with the intention of it being a permanent separation based on Eraqus' comments), realizing that she won't ever grow as a person as long as she's over-reliant on her friends for comfort, and also realizing that trying to stay by their side forever is a futile effort anyway that'll just cause her pain. To her, "adapting to change" means being willing to change her circumstances, and then hopefully she, too, will change as a result. Vor is prioritizing her personal feelings, desires, and identity at the cost of her relationships, when perhaps a balance would be more ideal.
So Vor's approach is thus: (1. Leaves her friends (2. Changes her circumstances in order to change herself (3. Prioritizes herself over her friends.
Kairi, on the other hand, chases after her friends relentlessly, forever trying to catch up to them, convinced that if she just "gets strong like them", wields a Keyblade like them, fights like them, that she'll no longer be left behind and exploited by the villains all the time. To her, "adapting to change" means being willing to change herself, and then hopefully her circumstances, too, will change as a result. Kairi is prioritizing her relationships (her worth relative to her friends, and her worth to her friends) at the cost of her personal feelings, desires, and identity, when--again--perhaps a balance would be more ideal.
So Kairi's approach is thus: (1. Stays with her friends (2. Changes herself in order to change her circumstances (3. Prioritizes her friends over herself.
Maybe if Vor and Kairi had met (in a theoretical AU scenario, of course) they could have learned something from each other, and found that balance sooner.

hi let's talk about her
Tumblr media
Honestly I have so much to say about her. so much. so here's some of it
-Asajj (NOT VENTRESS THAT'S HER LAST NAME ISTG PEOPLE JUST HATE USING HER ACTUAL NAME AND IDK WHY I GUESS IT'S A COOL NAME BUT ASAJJ IS ALSO A COOL NAME AND)
-Asajj was last seen in canon in the Dark Disciple novel. Where she died. I would never recommend that book to anyone so if you haven't read it yet please don't. In short, after becoming a Bounty Hunter in The Clone Wars she grew out her hair, got a cool yellow Lightsaber and for some reason teamed up with Quinlan Vos to try and kill Dooku. They didn't manage to do it. And Asajj died (was fridged) trying to protect Quinlan. The Bad Batch will not contradict that, as was said by the creators. So this is just a summary for anyone who hasn't read it because I wholeheartedly believe that book is bad
Tumblr media
-I have not watched a single Bad Batch episode in my life. As a disclaimer. I started the first one, watched their TCW arc and saw memes screenshots clips and spoilers but I do not know this show. I will watch it now that Asajj's there tho
Tumblr media
-She does not have the same outfit anymore! It's a change, and we haven't gotten a clear look at her new design so idk how to judge it yet. Might be to look less recognizable, but it has a very different vibe than any of her prior outfits. There's a leftover shoulder pad and probably some other stuff from her last design but I feel like they kinda clash with the new one and tbb's design language in general. The Bounty Hunter look has a very TCWish feel to it and this one is a sharp turn in another, much more casual direction. I'm not inherently against it but I guess we'll see how it looks in action soon
-In my opinion the hair looks like shit. I don't think she should have hair ever. I don't understand why she can't be bald. Why is she bald when she's evil and has hair when she's a padawan (good) and when she is "redeemed"? guess we'll never know. It's a leftover from the cancelled Dark Disciple TCW arc design (and the Dark Disciple cover and promotional material ofc) and it's bad if you ask me but to each their own and if you like it good for you
-Her Lightsaber!!!!! Same case as the hair in terms of irl development but I like it so much better. The yellow just fits her character and it's pretty. Would love for her to find another one and get back to dual-wielding (I know that won't happen)
-The bag and pouches make me so happy as a design element do you think she carries a (tooka) cat in there
-Now, visually she looks great and the animation style is smoother and nicer than TCW (as is the quality), but what about the direction the character's going in? I didn't like her being dead before, but I felt like it was somewhat better than her being shoved into being a cameo character in new content. If you can't touch her after a certain point, you also can't mess her up. But I do wonder where they're going with her. A few questions:
-Asajj in canon is a directionless character. Also, a partially nonsensical and inconsistent character in her choices and storylines. I've talked about it a lot but in short she just feels messy. What's her purpose in life? Her motive? Her origin story doesn't really make sense, even. She's a Bounty Hunter, sure, but why? If all she wants is revenge on Dooku and maybe money (which was pretty much the case in Dark Disciple), what's she doing after the Empire? And more importantly, why?
-Obviously, the question I haven't asked yet because I don't like it: How the fuck is she alive? Nightsisters have a weird relationship with death but seriously, how?
-She's a Force User after the Rise of the Empire now, so what does he do about that? Is she founding The Path? Fucking around and finding out? Making a not-Jedi-not-Sith order with other force users she finds? Is the Empire after her? Do they know she's live?
-What about her girlfriend? Is Latts Razzi safe? Is she alright?
-Why is she in The Bad Batch show? Are we making her into a cameo character or is there a purpose? Why'd they bring her back? For fun? What is she doing after the show? Floating in dead space? Cameo-ing? Will we have a book?
-OK enough for tonight but if we see Quinlan Vos in the show I'll become violent (/neg). We probably will (he might just get mentioned idk).

Reflection by pennflinn - Rated T
It’s disorienting seeing the world, however briefly, through someone else’s eyes; it’s more disorienting still when that person is looking at you.
Or: three times Cal picks up echoes of himself.
no lie, im kind of cold? by makeyourpeacenow - Rated T
In Cal's hasty escape from Bracca, he didn't exactly have the time to drop by his place to pack his things. He left behind everything except the clothes on his back, his master's lightsaber on his belt and his infinite supply of spite against the empire. Everything else was non-essential.
That doesn't mean he wouldn't appreciate a blanket, though. He was karking cold.
In the Hole by BreakfastTea - Rated G
Cal learns the hard way how the dreamwort got its name, and Greez learns the taste of his fear.
(Set during Fallen Order. No Survivor spoilers)
A bud of promise to thy parent cling by Riv_ika - Rated G
Ponds is wandering the halls of the Jedi Temple on Coruscant, on his way to a meeting with his general, when he finds a crying youngling. He’s clutching his hands close to himself and Ponds abruptly remembers a mission with General Vos, who had an eerily similar reaction to a set of manacles. Ponds can’t help but kneel in front of the kid and offer him his pair of brand new gloves.

I played and finished Slay the Princess last night while I was puppy sitting. I had such a great time. She’s my scary wife now.
Spoilers + more detailed thoughts below the cut, but without spoilers:
[points at devs] haha horror podcast fans
I’ve always loved Nicole Goodnight from her first appearances on Nosleep. she did so excellent as the Princess.
Very impressive scope, even with the very definitive ending I got, I came away from the game feeling like there were still paths I hadn’t seen.
Just as a general tone setter, I love the opening card/disclaimer that ends with “This Is A Love Story.”
GREAT visual style and art. I’ll get into this in my breakdown below, but with my amateur eye I love how they took a non-traditional approach to way the images/characters are displayed in a renpy game
INCREDIBLE music.
Hard to avoid Disco Elysium comparisons with the aspects of the Self mechanic, which I’m sure is either a received as a high compliment or is a source of annoyance for the devs, lol
Highly recommend it for OELVN fans, horror fans, and lesbians.
First and foremost, I’m genuinely very impressed at the amount of variety to the paths.
On my first playthrough, I got on a loop where I kept the princess locked up, and then she came upstairs and killed me. The next loop, The Paranoid showed up, and when we went into the basement, it was all spooky and distorted. In this one, we had some great banter with The Princess before I ultimately decided to slay her, and trapped me in the basement by warping reality and removing the stairs, forcing me to kill myself to escape that loop. The Cold showed up in chapter 3, and I think that was when I tried to leave the woods.
In subsequent loops, even when choosing all the choices I made to the best of my memory, I couldn’t recreate that first loop at all. It really speaks to the scope of the game in an impressive way.
The first vessel I managed to provide was The Tower. (It was the outcome of being mauled on your first encounter with her, then perceiving her as a dominating, inevitable force.) After discovering my new objective, the endings I saw were The Prisoner (It’s the ending where you just wait for the cell to rot away around you), The Razor (GOATED route, I will be calling her ‘Knife Wife,’), The Damsel, and ended with The Adversary (devil horns), before reaching Awakening.
These are the only routes I can talk about, but I’m certain there were at least 2 I missed/didn’t get to see. It’s an EXTREMELY impressive scope, and fully voiced, to boot, so my hat is off to the devs on that front.
(The next few paragraphs are about the voice acting, if you want my story thoughts, I made a small heading for that bc my VA thoughts got a bit out of hand lol)
Voice Acting
While I’m on the subject of the game being fully voiced: Nicole’s voice acting really shines here, and it’s absolutely essential to making this game what it was. I think a version of this game without it would be very Good, but not nearly as Haunting. The sheer variety of reads on certain lines based on how you first approach the princess is incredibly impressive, as well. (Again— scope!!!)
As far as the narrator VO goes, i can’t deny that Jonathan did a great job, and with his history of being the main narrator for The Magnus Archives, he was a good fit for the tone and audience of the game. I would even posit that, even if there were other people who were considered in the early phases of development, the cross-promotional potential of drawing in even a small section of an audience already primed for cosmic, reality-altering horror via TMA was a very smart business decision, and I applaud them for it. That being said, I think one unintended side effect of his casting may be that people familiar with his TMA character (a…semi-reliable narrator) might immediately come in primed with doubts about the Narrator. They seem to have anticipated this, though, and included skeptical and suspicious dialogue choices with him right off the bat in the first chapter, which is fun.
(A brief aside: If it seems like I am being very measured with my thoughts on the Narrator, it is not because I have anything negative to say about his performance. I am being measured simply because the narrative devices the game employs makes it impossible to not draw comparisons to Big Hitters like The Stanley Parable and Disco Elysium— both incredible games that I personally would be both delighted and terrified to be brought up when discussing a game I created or a role I was playing.
These games did not Create the idea of “a narrator you interact with and who is sometimes rude to you” or “multiple voices with distinct Traits butting in on your current predicament,” but both games are incredibly prolific in how implemented those devices and the vocal performances involved….so it is not a fair comparison.)
Story Thoughts
The subtitle for this section could also be “Faron ranks how hot they find all of the versions of The Princess.” jk.
I am not going to do summaries here I’m just going to assume most people reading this have played the game.
But let’s start again with the sentence at the beginning of the game: “This is a love story.”
Not long ago, there was a big discussion on tumblr about the statement that horror is “about love”, (it might have even been spurred on by TMA, lol) and that lead to a lot of justified (but not always kind) posts from my fellow horror fans being annoyed by that take. I’ll spare you a rehash of all of that. But it is exactly Because of that discourse (and my general gothic preferences) that I like the choice to open with this a whole lot. The phrase “This is a love story,” written in bold, at the end of a disclaimer saying ‘there are no wrong choices, just different paths,’ has an immense power to it. It is a mic drop way to open up a story, as a way to prime the audience to be open to the Princess as more than a monster, and creates the anticipation for a greater relationship to be uncovered between the protagonist and the princess.
It could also be that the phrase hit my brain in a weird way because of Fata Morgana. I don’t think The House in Fata Morgana had a similar line in the actual game— but my roommate who handed me Fata Morgana very specifically told me, “it is a horror game, and it is a tragedy, but at its core, It Is a Love Story.” And that’s always stuck with me. (I digress.)
A Brief Address to Loops and the Popularity of the Looping Narrative
I could sit here all day and talk to you guys about looping metanarrative structure and the different approaches to it, but you’ve probably all played a VN with that before. (If you haven’t, and this is your first time encountering something like this and it blew your mind…Go play Zero Escape: 999. Run, don’t walk.)
I believe very strongly that reviews should be about what a game Is, and how well it accomplished what it aims to be, not about what you wish the game was. But it is an even stronger opinion of mine that loop narratives, especially in visual novels, can sometimes get too bogged down in the details of “why am i in a time loop.”
I am extremely glad that this game (mostly) avoided this, bc it offers an opportunity to say something about the subgenre as a whole.
At the end of the day, looping narratives mainly exist as a metanarrative device in VNs to acknowledge and offer a reason why your character’s behavior (and/or your choices) change. It’s an easy way to create ludonarrative harmony, and to inject some extra drama with little extra effort.
But BECAUSE it’s easy, it can also feel Extremely Overused, and starts to become an expectation.
I won’t go on a soapbox about it, especially because I feel like this game handled it very well, and the looping, metanarrative aspect is suited to the themes and character subject matter of Beings Who Are Concepts, even if they Why doesn’t really satisfy. At the end of the day, this is a love story, and the why matters less than the feelings involved.
Specific Path Thoughts
All versions of the Princess are incredibly strong concepts, and the game is structured in a way that I very much would enjoy seeing how different people’s first loops influence their opinions on her. It’s got IMMENSE “streamability” in that regard.
Someone that encountered The Damsel version of the princess first would have an INCREDIBLY different experience than someone who encountered the Adversary first, which ties very neatly into the subject of the greater love story and can also generate some great post-play discussion.
I think, undoubtedly, the Aspects of the princess that made the biggest impressions on me were The Adversary (demon wife) and The Razor (Knife Wife). Part of this is due to the sheer length of their paths, as both of them take 3+ loops (correct me if I’m wrong) to reach the conclusion of their sections, whereas The Damsel, The Tower, and The Prisoner all only took 2. (See the next section for more on that). Thinking about it, every path was similar in the amount of sheer resources created for them (illustrations, animation), but these two create the illusion of having more than the others simply due to being the longest action sequences and loops in the game.
The Razor has an OUTSTANDING design, and the sequence to slay her would have been an incredible finale in its own right, as we get introduced to EVERY Aspect of ourselves as we die over and over again, even shoving the narrator out of the way so we can just jump to the cabin and fight her again, and the PC reasoning that “if there’s enough of Me, I might be able to overcome her”. For this reason, and because of the big knife skeleton body, I think that the Razor path is more Fun than the Adversary’s.
Flavor-wise, however, I feel like The Adversary is a much stronger character and narrative thread. A princess who doesn’t want to escape— she just wants a good fight. She wants you at your best, and she won’t have any less. That’s exactly the sort of character dynamic that really gets me going. I love single-minded women, and I love a main character who meets them on their level of crazy.
Both of these paths involve the Aspects of Self “The Hunted” and “The Stubborn,” and they are the aspects of the PC that by FAR have the most color to them (besides the lover, who is more of a buffoon.) I think they were my favorites.
That being said, I adored how exhausted the Narrator got during the Damsel path, and I thought there was a very quiet, profound power in the Prisoner version of the Princess. She had an austere, quiet pride to her, tinged with an undeniable sorrow.
I really do appreciate the variety of ways they provide for one to approach your dialogues with the Shifting Mound after every loop. They really create a lot of space for the player to decide how they feel about her. Even if it sort of bothered me that every time there was a choice to tell her you would slay her once it was all over, I appreciate the option being there. (And, again- the sheer amount of dialogue!! Sheesh!)
Lastly, the finale. It was incredible, going through all of the forms, reliving all of the choices you made. But this is the part that the amount of options started to detract from my experience.
Again- I love that they left a lot of space for people to decide how they feel. I like the amount of responses provided, and I get the impression they don’t change the final choice in any way, just the dialogue she says to get to it.
But it bothered me that there was an option to just…opt out of seeing every vessel, either by submitting to her or by killing her. I can’t see a world where anyone playing a finale like this would WANT to cut the big final movement short. It seems silly.
The payoff was worth it, though. It was a beautiful end and one that definitely will stick with me.
(And Obviously I decided to take her hand and remain endless with her! How could I not!)
Mechanical Musings
Note: I am a dabbler in Ren’Py, but I have been a dabbler for over a decade, and I went to college for game design. (You’re allowed to laugh) I’m not GOOD at programming, and I forget the class names for basically everything unless I’m looking at it.
All of this is all to say I am PURELY speculating on how certain parts of the game were accomplished.
UI/Display/Visuals
The choice to omit a typical text box was an objectively correct one for this game, in no small part to how they decided to do the visuals on this game. It kept the game looking clean and drew the eye to the stunning visuals. The right aligned prompt box similarly aided in that respect, and I think that being forced to scroll down to resist during certain tense sequences was a great touch. Makes me wonder if there’s a timed element on those responses.
The choice to eschew using typical talk sprites (outside of The Long Quiet scenes, the sequence with The Damsel, i thiiiiink the confrontation in the basement maze, and the finale) in favor of using scenes/displayed images really aided in the storybook vibes, and the animated loops they had on those images gave the pencil work an amazing kinetic energy for the scenes where the princess is just standing or sitting still. (For the uninitiated- It’s incredibly simple to program animation loops using static images in RPY, but I’m not clear if that the most memory-efficient way to do so; I’m going to assume they did this though)
The menu Ui is what gives it away as Renpy to me, but you know, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, lol.
I’m sort of surprised there wasn’t anything like a scene viewer or gallery that unlocked at the end, but I guess that might sort of be immersion breaking.
Gameplay
Just from my hobbyist eye, I can tell there’s a looooott of dialogue flags in this one, where they track previous things you’ve said in the scene. There is absolutely a variable for “Princess hostility,” just based on the fact there’s several like reads of her answering the questions you can ask in chapter one, but since I only did a single run where I didn’t pick up the knife in chapter 1, I can’t be sure if it’s points based or binary “has knife = true.”
My guessssss about how the Aspects are inherited is that it might be a point based system combined with a flag indicating how you died; this would explain how I inherited “the paranoid” in ch2 my first run, but never after that.
I can say with almost complete certainty from the way it completely locked me out of deciding to leave the princess locked up after my choice to leave the woods that there is a true/false variable tracker for each path that stores if you’ve reached the Long Quiet or not, bc no matter what I did I could NOT do that again. Either that or there’s a flag where the narrator will lock you downstairs after seeing that screen once.
There’s also probably some variables tied to your appearance changing in the mirror, but i would need to double check achievements to be sure that text isn’t just set to appear after X vessels being provided.
There’s also a distinct possibility there are different “pools” for the princess’ aspects to be pulled from after each “level” of ascension; this would set it up so that it’s impossible for you to end with an event that is only 1 loop long, and it would be easier to assure story pacing that way.
(Ex: “If Vessels < 2, use Event_Pool_A, Else use Event_Pool_B”, where pool A contains vessels that use less than 2 loops to complete)
All in all, if I ever got the chance to crack the hood open on this, I would. I highly recommend it.

Life is Strange 2 thoughts/feelings/review
So, Life is Strange 2. I finished the game yesterday and watched the other endings today. Things are not as fresh in my mind as if I had just finished and I talked a bit about it in other places so this feels a bit hard, but I'll try to lay down all my thoughts...
First of all... All my homies love LIS2, fuck you if you don't like LIS2! Seriously though, for years I've seen people say that the game wasn't good, that the characters weren't as good as the ones from the first one, that the Sean/Daniel relationship wasn't that interesting... I kinda did suspect it was just nostalgia goggles or whatever, but now I know for sure. I don't think there's anything wrong with connecting more with LIS1 and having a deeper relationship with it, but in this case I think you shouldn't even be comparing them and expecting the game to live up to that to you in the first place.
Now, onto the actual game. God, this was so fucking heartbreaking. I think I cried in every single episode. The very core premise of the story is just so sad, so unfair, and despite the powers so rooted in reality that it left me legit feeling uncomfortable with how fucked up their whole situation was. There are good moments, sure, but honestly every single thing that happens from the moment their dad is shot is just... Not how their life should've had to be.
Sure, LIS1 and BTS had dark themes too. But here, it's like, they lose everything from the beginning. Sean doesn't get to go to his party, to hang out with Lyla, to continue his normal life in any way. Daniel loses a part of his childhood. They're both forced to grow up so much faster than they should. There's a line Sean says in episode 3, and it's just a little idle VO, but it fucking crushed me, "Stop overthinking. You're not a teenager anymore". Even though he's fucking 16... He's 16 and he has to essentially become a parent. I knew what the game was about and lowkey followed it a bit when it was releasing, knew a few spoilers, but that didn't make anything any less heartbreaking.
I thought it was beautiful how the game took the opportunity to showcase and celebrate alternate lifestyles. The "family", Away, their freedom and how they interacted with society brings so much into perspective. I'm still a bit conflicted about Karen tbh, but I'm glad that at least they did show something beautiful through her story.
My biggest problem overall is probably how they handled the Finn romance route... I knew back when the game was releasing that despite adding a male LI, they pushed the female one more onto you and gave her more content, while locking the option to kiss him with a "bad choice" (I didn't know what exactly it was). And yeah, that is still true. I still think it was a mistake to lock the kiss with accepting the heist, and while I kinda understand the writer's explanation for that, I still think it could've been handled in another way, or they could've just let him kiss you and "betray" you by doing the heist anyway, since he still does that when you're friends lol.
I see people complaining that because they moved from place to place each episode, there wasn't enough time to connect with the characters... Idk if I'd say I disagree, but it just wasn't really the case for me. I was very invested in all the relationships, in Finn, Cassidy, Jacob, Chris, Karen. Everyone at the farm was cool and everyone in Away too. Lyla. You get so many tidbits about the characters even when they're not there on screen. The only thing I have to say which is kinda related to that, is that I think the time jumps were maybe a bit too big, and that the way they handled Mushroom was... weird.
I got the Parting Ways ending, and I'm satisfied with it. I kinda planned to get it, but only in the sense that I was spoiled that you get with Finn there. I didn't know that the whole morality thing had anything to do with it, and I played the first two episodes without even knowing that there was a points system about that and about brotherhood. I just made all the choices that were high morality (besides killing the cougar and the heist) because it was what I would do, and tried to be a good brother for Daniel. I figured that choosing to cross the border would most likely give me that one, but I just couldn't accept Sean having to go to prison for 15 years for something he didn't even do. If we were able to choose between Parting Ways and Blood Brothers, then I would actually be conflicted about which I wanted.
With the way the game's system works though, where you need to have low morality to get Blood Brothers, I couldn't really do it. I can't imagine myself teaching Daniel to be selfish and not care about killing people. I actually think it's super cool to watch Daniel use his power offensively and fuck shit up, but it just wouldn't be my version of the story. It's funny because, if we just played as Daniel, I wouldn't mind going that route. But since we play as Sean, with it being our job to raise Daniel, I feel a different kind of responsability towards leading him to become a good person. I also think it's beautiful that he gets to have the rest of his childhood, teenagehood, and live a "normal" healthy life with his grandparents. He does it in the redemption one too, but as I said, that just screws up Sean too much.
So, I'm a little disappointed that they're separated (and maybe can't ever see each other again? I'm a bit confused about Daniel's situation and whether he could visit), and that it's a bit shorter than the others (at least than the redemption one), but it IS the ending my playthrough led to and in that I'm satisfied.
I think this story is just incredible. It touched me so much, and the fact that some people can't see it genuinely frustrates me. The people complaining it's too political in particular can just go fuck themselves. It might not be perfect, but like with all things I appreciate, I'm just so glad it exists.

Vought R&D Lab
March 1st
There was a stir outside his office that made Jonah Vogelbaum look up from his reading to see Frederick Vought, founder, and CEO of Vought-American, crossing the lab accompanied by his first successful Comp V test subject, Liberty.
“Jonah, how did phase two of the experiment go?” Vought inquired of his head R&D scientist.
“Better than anticipated, I couldn’t have set up the introduction any better,” Vogelbaum said, leaning back in his chair.
“As previously discussed, we called Soldier Boy in for what he believed was routine testing and had the subject set up a predetermined spot so we could film the encounter. Let us move to the projection room so you can see for yourself how it went.”
Nodding his acquiescence, Vought got up and, holding his elbow out for Liberty to take, proceeded the researcher to the designated room.
Once the party was seated Vogelbaum signaled for the projectionist to start.
The film opens in the sterile white lab with scientists and others carrying out various tasks around a colorful area rug with cartoon animals where a thirteen-month-old girl in a sunny yellow dress sits trying to stack wood blocks her tiny hands lack the coordination needed.
A minute later a pair of men in deep discussion appears in the frame, “I was walking him out and, as prearranged, Ms. January accidentally drew his attention,” an attractive woman drops some files she’s carrying.
The man dressed in a military-style outfit gallantly helps pick them up, giving her his trademark smirk as she flirtily smiles back. Thanking him for his help he watches her walking away appreciating the sway of her hips under the pencil skirt when he gets a surprised expression and asks Vogelbaum something that made him laugh and waves for him to follow.
“As his physiological tests have indicated the unusual presence of the subject sparked his curiosity.”
The camera pans down to the girl then a pair of well-fitted brown and maroon boots appear in the frame before Soldier Boys squatting down.
“We made a good choice investing in the Arriflex 35 IIC, color quality is much better,” Vought offhandedly commented.
The camera zooms in for a closeup of Soldier Boy breathing deeply cocking his head puzzled.
“Seems the hypothesis of adding the attractants in utero came to fruition.” Vought comments sounding pleased.
The Supe makes an inquiry and Vogelbaum smiles gesturing for him to sit down before getting up and disappearing from frame.
“I find it reprehensible,” Liberty voiced with disgust.
“My dear, you sound jealous, like a jilted lover.” Vought’s observation made Liberty huff, “you were the one who decided not to pursue anything more than a brief fling with Soldier Boy during that orgy back in ‘52.”
“Soldier Boy has never shown a predilection towards pedophilia,” Vogelbaum comments, “in fact, despite his libertinism, he still possesses strong personal morality, an interesting holdover from when he was human, and becomes incensed when presented with scenarios that violate them. The reactions he is displaying are purely subconscious physical responses to pheromone attractants the subject is producing.”
The girl picked up the block and held it out to the Supe who mirthfully smiles when Vogelbaum, just in view, snaps a picture with a 35 mm camera.
“So what do your physiological tests say about his stance on incest?”
Tumblr media
Soldier Boy lay there unsure of what happened last night.
Butcher and his school-boy bitch leaving gave him the opportunity to fall back on a highly questionable but tried and true technique of extracting information because he had enough of Y/N’s evasiveness.
What he hadn’t expected was how fast it'd hit her and after being called out was left sitting there pissed off with a hard on when everything went 180.
After finding the shadow box she started having a conversation with someone the Supe quickly figured out it was from when he visited Vought over the years. Shaking her awake she suddenly bursts into tears, and without thinking sat down wrapped his strong arms around her began softly singing the tune she’d hummed.
He felt Y/N move, burrowing closer to his warmth, a leftover from the Russians tests, felt her leg brush against his morning wood making his hips twitch and rub against her cunt felt warm wetness dampen his sleep pants.
The Supe remembers how prudish women were expected to be when it came to fucking in the decades proceeding the sexual revolution, one reason he co-started Herogasm with Liberty, fucking firecraker that one.
Man, all those years the puss flowed freely in his direction, or did it?
He never lied all the times he told Crimson Countess he loved her but she’d been plain vanilla, almost never initiated relations, and going anal was an absolute no go so what was he supposed to do but find it somewhere else?
Now he couldn’t stop hearing Grace Mallory’s fucking annoying but maybe accurate assessment that women gave in to his pressure and manipulation of them. Were they actually scared of what he’d do to them if they didn’t let him fuck them?
~~~
You felt his hip rub against your snatch and crack an eye open to see the Supes morning wood tenting his sleep pants and for some unfathomable reason can’t resist some tit for tat for last night.
Nuzzling his neck, fuck his scents making you crazy, slip a hand under the waistband lightly brushing fingertips along the top of his hardening cock, teasing his slit before tracing the pulsing vein underneath ending by cupping his bare balls.
“I feel you took my advice,” you breathily whisper and nibble on his ear while firmly squeezing them making his hips jump, “umph yeah, my cock and balls look fabulous..” withdrawing your hand, ”..hey, the fuck?!”
“I didn’t suggest it to feed your fucking ego!”
“Who’s being a cock tease now!”
“Alright,” running your fingers through his treasure trail, “what’ll you give me in return for finishing you off?”
Soldier Boy subconsciously sucked on his bottom lip contemplating..fuck, no man should make that gesture so sexy you could come untouched just watching him.
 “Whatcha want?”
“Mmm, to frenchtoast me.”
His head popped off the pillow.
“Huh??”
You shift to look him in the eye, “I'm craving to frenchtoast and then have you whip the cream.”
Sitting up tugs his shirt over his head, “only if you get me off how I want first,” the Supe waits to see if you’ll take the proposition.
You move to kneel on the bed and unbutton your sleep shirt as he shoves his pants off and leans back on a forearm sliding his other hand down his broad chest, fingers trailing like yours did gather the precum he’s now leaking, and started bucking his hips up and down, fucking himself into his fist like it’s a fleshlight.
The recesses of your mind scream some things off but your craving is overwhelming and rational thought evaporates.
If he wants to tease, you can too.
Tossing the shirt, you spread your thighs and push two fingers into your sodden channel mimicking him.
 “Stop,” he harshly orders and your immediate obedience made him smirk before lying back on the pillow and growling, “bring it up here,” you knee up the mattress and when he circles his index finger, turn before straddling his face.
“Fuuck baby,“ his breaths warm over your bare skin, “so beautiful without bearded clam,” takes his time his calloused fingers explore your bare mound before parting your lower lips, “haven't even started and dripping with passion for me, have to have a taste..so fucking sweet,” his tongue delving deeply makes you keen loudly.
“Hmm, I like that,” he pushes you up enough to watch you kitten licking his drooling slit, “don’t worry, I won’t forget to whip the cream,” he teases.
Tumblr media
You’re sitting naked on the kitchen table, legs hanging off each side playing with your clit completely titillated by his assets: resplendent features dusted in cinnamon freckles, brawny shoulders, still feeling it in your hips where he stretched you to accommodate their breadth when he..
“I can’t hear how wet you are,” Ben casually but sternly comments when he finishes eating.
You can’t stop the full body quiver when pushing two fingers deep into your sopping, overused pussy making it squelch, vaguely aware no one but him has ever made you so lecherous you’re obeying everything he orders you to do.
“Never had such a cum drunk fuck duck like you,” he seizes both your ankles lifting up places your feet flat near the tabletop's edges, “show me that pretty plug.”
Laying back you lift your hips up and the change of angle makes your inner muscles clench your fingers as his play around the plugs' large, bejeweled end starts slowly withdrawing it, stretching your rim around its widest point then reinserts it, repeating the action again and again.
“I want you to squirt all over my hand and this table now.”
His command sent your overstimulated self off the cliff.
Tumblr media
The vibrating of your phone is incessant and annoying the fuck outta you.
Tossing back the covers notice the wetness coating your thighs and reaching down barely brush your pussy when a massive orgasm slams through you and collapse back onto the bed, unable to vocalize as your body’s pulsating for fuck knows how long.
When you're reasonably lucid again get up knocking the cell on the floor, its lock screen lit up displaying two days have passed and you had no fucking clue how but knew who to start with in figuring it out.
Finding Soldier Boy asleep in the recliner with several bottles of liquor on the end table pisses you off and gave into the impulse to slap the bejesus outta his face.
“The fuck was that for!”
“Wha’ yu’ guv m’?”  Your words are slurred and he squints, not initially understanding, “I ground up the leftover benzos in some apple juice for us to get some sleep because we’ve been non-stop fucking for two days and my dick needs a break!”
Shaking your head take a breath and try to enunciate, “wha’ the fuc ya put in tha’ bunt Ben’amin?”
“Reefer mixed with MDMA..”
You stupid fucking bitch, letting your guard down with Soldier Boy and shouldn’t be surprised at his duplicity.
Of course, it’s your luck he used the one drug that overrides the compound you take to keep your system functioning normally start panicking, wobbling in the direction of the kitchen get as far as the doorway when he grabs and presses you between him and the wall feel his hardening length against your bare thigh, “where the hell do you think you’re going?”
“Bas’mnt..need meds..stop ‘is..”
“Fuck me dead!” He scoop you up bridal style strides for the basement door kicking it inwards descends down the stairs and sensor lights flickered on revealing a small lab caught sight of the medical bed depositing you on it.
“Where’s the stuff?”
“Fridge, am’r bott’l,” Ben opens the countertop fridge retrieves the colored glass vile searches around for a syringe to draw it up.
“Cab’it, ster’l bag,” finding the right one grabs a steel tray with the bag laying in it deposits it on the swing arm table opens it, “what the fuck’s this?”
He picks up a funny-looking instrument with an attached light reminding him of a duck’s bill when it dawns on him.
“Can’t inje’t, skin like yor’s, ya hav’t go in cer’ix.”
Any other time the look of horror crossing his face would’ve made you laugh but now was sooo not the moment, “are you shitting me? I can’t do that!”
 “Not li’k I can re’ch.”
“I didn’t sign up for this,” you give him an imploring look, “alright, alright..good thing I already know my way around your pussy.”
He helps you place your feet in the stirrups, “you’re gonna have’ta talk me through this,” he holds up the speculum, “how the hell does the duck-thing work?”
Tumblr media
“I’m not a bad guy.”
Soldier Boys slouched in leather wingback lifts the liquor bottle to his lips draining a third before dangling it over the chair's arm between his fingers, watching Y/N sleeping in his bed.
“That’s what I told powder puff when he asked about midtown and you know the kicker, I meant it. I never mean to hurt anyone that doesn’t deserve it but shit happens, that’s life. I was the guy who stepped up and did what was needed, like a real man does.
Vought should’ve let me choose my own team. Fucking Payback..bunch of no-talent, second-rate wannabe hacks! Couldn’t even hit a fucking mark on the first let alone the tenth take and if it wasn’t for me, they'd been farmed out to some bumfuck city..fucking ingrates,” chugging another third.
“When they turned on me, all of them put together still couldn’t take me out, needed some fucking Commie nerve gas, and know what’s ironic, I wanted out, but they couldn’t let me graciously bow out, settle down and have a family, had to have a big, theatrical shitshow with me going out in a blaze of glory, turn me a fucking martyr.”
Fucking Vought.
“Don’t get me wrong, it was great at first; all the booze, broads, and bennies I wanted. Then after the war came the fucking acclamations,” he paused remembering, “yeah, it was great.  Then a couple of decades go by I began wishing I’d actually done those things my bio says,” takes a swig, “Omaha beach, killing Nazis by the dozen, being a real hero not used as a fucking prop, a pretty face to slap on their fucking propaganda and those stupid movies,” draining the bottle drops it.
“You think I wanted to make that cheesy calypso album in ‘57? Always wondered if I had strangled Legend, would it have got me outta it? Hell, I could’ve been the next Jerry Lee but noo, had to do what I was ordered because of my fucking contract.”
Getting up he staggers to a dresser where lying on top are a handful of files dating from 1965-1985.
“The evidence is right here,” he taps the files, “what’s happened between us since I walked through your front door..all your goddamn fault for hiding the truth!”
-Research assistant is scribbling notes when Vogelbaum joins them outside testing lab#4 viewing window.
-The subject is face-up on padded table, strapped down with the strongest restraints after destroying the original ones, somehow still twisting around in them.
-The subject's naked skin is splotchy and covered in sweat mixing with what written file states is vaginal fluids they are currently profusely excreting.
“The subject's fecundity schedule has been consistent, and, in this cycle, vials have stayed stable the last four days, a vast improvement since its initial induction.”
-Research assistant flipped some paperwork, “however, other tests still suggest waiting a minimum of three years for the subject to be physically mature enough for maximum yield.”
-Vogelbaum is nodding.
“I’ve been advised by Stan Edgar the upper echelons are deliberating a change of circumstance for Soldier Boy due to the uptick in his recent antics and we should consider developing alternative plans if they come to fruition.”
-Research assistant.
“Dr. Steptoe and Edwards have contacted us concerning our interest in their research and they have a test case that's looking very promising.” Researcher informs Vogelbaum, making him smile.
-Vogelbaum.
“Excellent. Continue monitoring the subject's vitals and as long as they remain stable, hold off giving the correctives, let’s see how long this estrus lasts.”
Modern Warfare III Review:
Okay so, I finished my first play through last night 5 days ago and ngl… lmao i had to open a gameplay so i could recount what actually my thoughts were at those times because I was confused half the time if not more from the story.
So here’s my unfiltered, filled with spoilers, and honest review.
Before anything let me just say this; I was wrong, my theory was wrong (although a banger if you ask me. Hire me Activision), and nothing I said in that post mattered. I’ll swallow my words… But I am slightly annoyed by it.
Here're the points I had problems with:
The story: it was…. Idk how to put it other than it being super fucking fast and filled with plot holes. Like half the time I was confused as to what was going on or I would forget what needed to be done. I think I blacked out 40% of the playthrough, because I would go into an OCM (Open Combat Missions) and Graves/Laswell would be like “bruh you need to do this we don't got time for stroll on the park get to it” and I’m just running around like a headless chicken trying to figure out what are the obj. I think they could’ve made it a bit slow paced, like MWII or MW even. Those had perfect story pace, even after the fact MWII didn’t have good writing. I just thought, MWIII would be impactful in a way the previous MWs weren’t, the ending WAS, but it took them 5 hours to of dragging and stretching one fucking thing, literally one thing. Because if you see the campaign in a way, even the bad guy, Makarov, wasn’t THAT impressive. I legit didn’t give a single fuck about Makarov or what his motives were, I just followed with 141’s intuitions.
Speaking of Makarov’s plans, he just appeared out of nowhere, and he has some beef with Farah and Urzakstan for some reason. Why? They didn’t specify other than he wants to “bring Russia to its old glory”. And of course they had to put fucking Farah into middle of this fiasco because why wouldn’t they. I hate the fact that she’s STILL to this day the center of the fucking MW storyline. She didn’t have much of a role to play in MWII campaign but the Raids took the center part. And that annoyed me tbh. Alas, we can’t have everything we ask for. (I would’ve stanned Farah in the long run but her holding hands with Graves in season 5 REALLY annoyed me but that's for another day).
Operation 627: Misleading. That's what I have to describe this mission, when i read the mission name, I was expecting it to be Price centered mission. I really wanted it to be a Price centered mission because the number 627 is Price’s identity. So to just take the number away and give it to Makarov really irked me if I’m being honest. And the whole marketing for it was misleading too (I’m looking at you barry). Gameplay wise it was okay I guess, typical CoD campaign mission.
Open Combat Missions: now here things gets fucked up. I was not expecting to be thrown right into OCMs right away. And by the end of my 400th try I was just running around and shooting without any care. I tried to do it stealthy, and with the enemies standing around the objectives that you CANNOT avoid it's almost impossible to even go undetected. It’s like a mixture of campaign and DMZ, which BTW is a really bad combination. And also, whenever I try to restart from the checkpoint it starts from the TOP! You have to do it all over again. I just wish they added the checkpoint thing it would’ve made so much easier. I know they want to make it feel like DMZ but it just SUCKS. And I wish it would've been at least a choice that you could make before the mission starts. Basically either you go OCM or just a regular mission, but in this case you’re forced to go to OCM.
(Also Farah’s Arabic sucks ass. At least they casted a good VO for Dena who knew how to speak Arabic properly.)
Reactor: again, another OCM. But this time, it was Price I played as. Now here everything felt off for me. Normally we would be playing as Soap or Gaz in ANY scenario because that would be the logical thing to do. But when the camera angle shifted to Price’s perspective, everything changed. And following this mission, every mission we got to play as Price just gave me a fear of sorts. Same as before, hard not to go undetected but more manageable than “Precious Cargo”. By the end of the mission Price almost gets incapacitated by the toxic gas, and that's what we see in the trailer. And from it we knew someone’s gonna die but it was not Price for sure, because he lives and kicks ass left and right.
Price being an errand boy: there’s a cutscene before mission ‘Payload, where Price and Farah get together to infiltrate an underground bunker to stop some rockets. In that cutscene it felt like the roles have been switched between the two. When Price was this leading figure in Farah’s life that had an enormous impact that changed the course of her life, now she’s acting like he owes her? It’s the other way around if you ask me, and she owes him fucking big. I don’t know man, I just hated the way she treated him the way she did. They keep giving her a piece of the story bigger than she could chew, and Price is left with crumbs (even with the amount of cutscenes and gameplay we have with him), he almost felt like he was being LED by everyone around him instead of him LEADING the team (and Farah). He felt like what Soap felt like in MWII, even Soap had a major ass role in MWII. That cutscene, as much as he looked good in it, felt really undermining Price for me. And the audacity Farah had when she said “do you trust me” to Price. Girl, after what you pulled with Graves, I would never trust you with anything. And Price giving his utmost loyalty to her just didn’t feel like he would do something like that. And I mean that in the most respectful way. When Price told her about Shadow company calling a hit on 141 and Shepherd being a bad man, I legit thought she would actually be shocked and side with Price, but what did she say? “My weapons are my business” fuck you Farah, and fuck your weapons. In conclusion, yeah Price felt more like an errand boy than the Captain of 141 task force. The mission that follows that cutscene was almost standard campaign mission. I say almost because it still felt like OCM.
Yuri Volkov: I’ll be honest, I was not expecting Yuri to make an appearance, I was expecting ‘Roach’ to be there more than anything. And we finally got to see Yuri’s face. I liked how they took Yuri’s story and twisted it around so he never 'betrayed' 141 by keeping the fact that he worked with Makarov from them. I guess Laswell is indeed useful sometimes. The fact that they made him be useful to 141 without having him take one in the face from Price was indeed surprising. (I was screaming in discord chat about it to Mari when he appeared.) Though we don't know what his fate is, but I'm 100% sure he's still alive and I have a feeling he'll be joining 141 in the next installment if not in the upcoming seasons of MWIII. I just hope he got away safe. That man sounded like a rascal lol, he definitely has some stuff up his sleeves.
Oh and special mention about Nikolai, am I happy to see Nik again. That man deserves every bit of love. No MW or 141 would be complete without Nik.
Stealth: For some reason this game was made to be played as ‘go big or go fucking die’ because in “Deep Cover”, you play as Laswell trying to sneak into the Arklov base, to meet up with Yuri, and i got caught like at least 10 times before I had to restart all over again, and again and again. The fucking stealth in this game is horrendous. Whoever made it IMPOSSIBLE to stealth, I hope you choke on water you drink and recover so you know how I felt all those tries I had to restart. It’s the same case even in regular missions, you either get caught even in fucking desguise, or they start shooting you for no fucking reason. I walk far, I'm too far from the obj, I walk close they shoot me. Fuck me man, I just had to fucking power walking through the first half of this whats suppose to be a 10 minutes walking simulator, took me 3 minutes of multiple tries because of that. Not gonna lie, I was kind of expecting Laswell to meet her demise in that mission because of the unavoidable missiles (maybe I was little bit of hoping it too who knows), but she survived, yaay.
Alex & Farah: then comes in the Master and the Lapdog duo. At this point I’ll never get tired of complaining about Farah and her personality. They tried so hard to make her into a girlboss, and they would have succeeded if they just left her story as is after MWII. But no, they had to drag her and her lapdog into this story and make something out of it.
I am just annoyed by everything she says. She keeps secrets from Price, the man who basically saved her life to become the commander she is today, her motives are unclear, she says she does this to protect her country and that she doesn’t get out of it to protect but stays INSIDE it protecting it (her words not mine), extends hands with a war criminal when she said that she doesn’t work with people who kills civilians for no reason, she compares herself, 141 and PRICE to the Shadows/Shepherd by saying “we’re all dangerous”, and the icing on the cake, her Arabic is horrendous. I know because I speak Arabic fluently. You might say “but Jay thats her accent you can’t judge her like that”, I know how Arabic accents sounds like, and this bitch’s is fucking incoherent half the time if not all the time.
And Alex… oh boy, this man is a fucking idiot lmfao. He had good intentions in MW2019, and I liked him there, but they should’ve just killed him off. But no, they had to bring him back. What are they gonna do now with Soap huh? They're gonna bring him back too? Also didn’t Keller say “he’s tired of getting told who his friends are” and didn’t want to follow the CIA blindly anymore? What’s he doing now with Farah, hm? I’ve never seen a boy so delusional like him before.
So many plot holes in these two characters only, I hate how they’re written.
Makarov lives: we… never got to learn the reason. Yes I went back and watched the gameplay today just to make sure I was not wrong, they never say why Price stopped Soap from killing Mak in that heli. “John he’s in custody he’s not going anywhere. Stand down.” FOR WHAT?! If they knew Makarov had this much power in the world, they should’ve just executed him. But noooooo they had to keep him alive for plot progress. If he died then and there in that heli, Soap would’ve been alive at the end. Was it because Shepherd said “bring him out ALIVE”? Or was it because Price wanted a win so bad that he threw his moral ambiguity out of the fucking heli he was riding? Man, I miss the MW2019 Price. But we’ll get to Price’s personality section later.
Yeah, we never got to learn the reason why Makarov didn’t die, why he is still alive. They just made it so that he’s the only villain that had the balls to do what he did. Bitch please, he looks like a whiny rich child that thinks he can do anything he wants to do. Literally that's how I saw Mak in the reboot. His character legit sounded like a spoiled child, not the evil man we knew and hated from the og MW series. And I can’t believe that I’m saying this but I kind of miss that Mak.
Like, who would look at this face and say “oh he looks intimidating shiver me timbers”
Tumblr media
Yullian is too adorable for this role, and he did a good job to bring a villain to life, it just wasn’t enough to be "The" Makarov.
Soap & Ghost: now that brings us to this broski duo. Watching that heli scene made me realize two things, 1. Either Ghost and Soap were friendly before MWII and Ghost was never a lone wolf to begin with. Or 2.141 was tight as knit before it was even formed. Because if you actually go back to the mission itself these two sounded as close to each other as they were aftermath of MWII Alone mission. Like it doesn't make sense, bare with me a little bit as I go through the timeline of the campaign.
Ghost was introduced in season 2 of MW2019, he was in the 141 just immediately after Price had formed it, and rumors say Soap was too, but we never saw him until the very last season of whatever game that was released before MWII (I think Vanguard), as a character bundle in the store itself. Mind you the bundle was leaked long before Cold War was out (it came out right after MW2019). And in MWII we get introduced to Ghost as this lone wolf/rogue esque soldier that only takes orders for solo missions. So when he was told that Soap would be assisting him in that first mission we played, he sounded annoyed to say the least.
Now, up until the “Alone” mission and aftermath of that, it's as if they were only on acquaintance bases, then they became close after the hardship they went through in that mission. And it makes you sympathize and understand why they became close all of a sudden. They were betrayed by the people they trusted, they were in this together. But I digress.
Now in ‘Flashpoint”, the mission that was supposed to take place 4 years prior to MWIII where they catch Makarov, Soap was WITH Price, and Ghost was in overwatch with Shepherd in that heli. When they spoke with each other they sounded very close to each other, mind you this was before MWII took place. I kept thinking long and hard about it. Did they tell us what took place in between? Why do they sound like bffs in that mission when Ghost was not fond of Soap in the beginning of MWII? Did I miss something?
It’s one of the two, either they are not telling us the whole story of 141 and how Soap and Ghost know each other, or this is a massive ass yet another fucking plot hole.
Ghost: I have to talk about him, because as a character that had been glorified and milked to the brim, his presence in MWIII was so fucking underwhelming. Even as playable, I nearly forgot it was him we played as in that mission. And his dialogues felt kind of… dry… normally he would actually have a smart reply or he’ll talk very bluntly but it just felt dry from him this time around. Like… who asks “what’s the rest of your plan?” to the big baddie plain and simple expecting them to reveal everything? Man they made him sound dumber than MWII. Literally reduced to this emoji 🧍🏻‍♂️. He had almost no impact on the story if you ask me, he was just… there… I expected more from him.
Tumblr media
no words....
“No Russian”: well, that was a lame ass “No Russian” mission if you ask me. Now bear with me if I keep comparing this game with the og one because it can't be helped. This is a reboot, this should be BETTER than the og, it had to be but instead we got this. If you compare the og ‘No Russian’ mission, as brutal and raw it was, it left quite the impact on the series. It told us how savage Makarov can be, it showed us the brutality of the world, and that the world has some BAD people with no remorse. In MWIII, the ‘No Russian’ we got was extremely underwhelming, it didn’t make us feel bad for our actions, it did not hold any sort of impact except feeling sorry for the woman because she was forced to do what she did. It wasn’t us following Makarov’s plan and orders, it was plain and dumb if you ask me. Now, I understand in the political climates we live in today, it would be controversial to remake that mission with the player being one of the gunmen that… mows down a whole airport filled with innocent people and civis, but that is what made the og game/mission so good. It didn’t hold back on brutality and the reality of villains, the truth of characters who want to play gods, their motivations, how the player is tied down to the villain no matter what they want to do because it’s inevitable. And It had an impact on the player, the game and the story. We needed the necessary evil so the game could progress. But instead we got a woman trying to save an airplane filled with innocents, disarm the bomb that was strapped on her chest, and clear her name at the same damn time, which was like 3 minutes. Could’ve done better if you ask me.
Shepherd: how the fuck did this cunt get captured in the first place? Wasn’t he supposed to be in Shadows and Grave’s protection? The man weaseled out of 141 and CIA’s grasps but somehow was weak enough to be captured by the Koni group? What is even the plot anymore? And they didn’t say how or why he got captured. Maybe it was that one Shadows soldier that Mak and his right hand man Nolan interrogated? How does Makarov get his intel? We don’t fucking know. He’s just a prophet at this point :)
I can’t express how much I dislike this man, I don’t hate him I just really really really dislike him. There’s a difference.
His character was, again, weak af in the reboot. God… why do they keep making me compare the reboot with the og games, I hate doing that for real. BUT, og Shepherd being as fucked up as he was, still had a strong personality. And if you just put these two side by side, no one would believe they’re the same character. I’m glad he got offed by Price at the end, no one likes loose ends after all. And he was a massive one, and a liability, and someone that no one can trust anymore after what he pulled on 141 and Laswell. Especially after he threw Graves in the fire when he was in trial when Laswell and 141's condition for helping him out was to confess everything. But of course, as the fucking weasel he is he didn’t do that.
Graves: oh man… Can this guy be any more pathetic? I love Graves, as he is, as a whole, pathetic or not, Warren’s acting made me love this character. But again 😭, reduced to nothing but a pathetic man who looks for glory. Stabbing his handler in the back to save his own ass, although he got stabbed in the back first.
They legit took everything good and cool about any character we like (Price, Graves, Ghost, etc) and gave it to Farah, a character that should not have an impact as much as her.
Price: that point brings us to John Price himself. I cannot describe how angry I feel towards sledgehammer’s writers now. I’m so pissed at them for writing Price like this.
real img of me reacting to the way they wrote price:
Tumblr media
In MW2019, his actions were so RAW, he was brutal, blunt, calculated and honest about his work and what he does. And he took pride in what he did and how he did. He didn’t give a fuck about what the upper management (Laswell, Shepherd) thought about his work. He was THE Captain that everyone respected, even CIA agents and the U.S General were at his feet asking for help from him.
Laswell: “What can you brief?”, Price: “We just did”- LIKE WHO ELSE CAN SAY THAT SO CASUALLY AND SOUND SO FUCKING BADASS LIKE THAT. NO ONE, thats fucking who. Now even Price doesn't sound like that AT ALL.
They reduced my man into a puppet that ‘trembles’ in front of Farah whilst she calls him “Old Man”. That scene annoys me every time I think about it. Why would they do this to him? Where did that man that said “they were leverage” to Gaz when he questioned Price’s morality about the hostages, disappear. MW2019 Price would never be this mild, or he would never be gentle or compromising when it comes to civilian lives. That heli scene? It should’ve been HIM instead of Soap, grabbing Mak and pointing a gun at him. MW2019 Price wouldn’t even hesitate to cut out Mak’s tongue for talking too much. Killed Shepherd where he stood in Frozen Tundra. It's as if Price was not there anymore, it was Gaz telling him, reminding him what HE would do, it wasn't just once when Gaz advised him to what to do. Price is losing his mind for some reason.
In MWIII, he looked like he was too scared to be cancelled if he said or did something out of the line. That’s you’re fucking job Captain! To step out of the fucking line when no one would!!
Price is a morally grey character, a necessary evil, and that is what made him so good as a character. MWIII took all that away. I want to cry at how badly they wrote him. I wanted them to bring back “Angry Price” from MW2019, and add even more rage in him because of Makarov, but instead they pumped “Fear” into him. Price was scared shitless in MWIII for some reason, and it made it look like it was because of Makarov. He didn’t take risks anymore… he was not the same Price that we got to know from the beginning of the reboot. It's as if they keep having to change his character in every game he’s in, they can't keep it consistent for some reason. And it cost them dearly.
Tumblr media
All in all it felt like Makarov and Price were having a personality mid-off the whole campaign.
Gameplay: 87% of it was ass. And short. And annoying af. I actually prefer the fucking driving mission from MWII than this bullshit.
The necessary death: I get it. I understand what they were going for, someone had to be the sacrificial lamb, the motivation for 141 to keep going, for Price to get angry and drag everyone to hell as we went there himself. But did it have to be Soap? They just introduced him like a year ago… and they took him out just as fast. In that scene Makarove appeared out of fucking nowhere to fight with Price and Soap, like… where did he appear from? Why is he here if he just armed the bombs? Did he REALLY want to take a body count with him that badly?
We were playing as Price, and again, I had a bad feeling, I couldn’t tell what it was but it was there. Then Mak was pointing a gun at Price, I honestly thought he would die then and there, and I was so scared that it would actually happen but Soap, my man Soapy boy, saved us. When Mak shot him I thought he was incapacitated but stood up and saved up, for like 5 seconds it reminded of the og MW gameplay, just for a short time.
And then, instead of shooting us (Price), he deliberately shot Soap, in the fucking head. And ran like a fucking pussy… I keep remembering his run, it was so stupid.  Mari mentioned this to me the other day, in the OG we see Soap struggling to live, to breath out the last words to Price so he can know the truth, he was bleeding everywhere, there were seconds to at least say goodbyes, here his soul left his body before it even hit the floor. And after everything went quiet I thought Price would fall to his knees and grieve. But he just stood there like 🧍🏻‍♂️.
I guess I felt just what Price felt because, I didn’t feel anything at first, because it felt surreal, seeing him take a shot in the head like that. Instantly wiping the light from his eyes like that, it shocked me that I didn’t even react at first. Took me to the last scene where they were spreading Soap’s ashes. And when Price said “Who Dares Wins. sleep easy soldier”, I lost it.
Again, I get it, a major character death motivation was necessary, but did it have to be Soap?
What I liked about the game:
Frozen Tundra: I liked this mission for one reason only. Okay maybe two… Reason one being that it's a classic cod campaign mission, reason two being that it was in Siberia, Russia. And Icy and snowy environment… thank fuck that they did this in the classic style mission. Also sneaking, and actual stealth that worked, because we were wearing white suites IN the snow. *chefs kiss*.
Wish we had a bit more options and choices, where we would be able to ride vehicles, like snowmobile, or idk maybe snowboard? Some creativity would’ve been nice. Because dammit it’s a snow map. A lot could have been done tbh.
The Cinematics: if call of duty is good at one thing, it’s making good ass cinematic cutscenes for their games. It was filled with eye candy; Price, Soap, Gaz, Nikolai, Graves, Ghost, every single person looked amazing in the cinematics. And yes I was swooning over Price every shot he was in (although his personality was meh).
Yuri, Nikolai and Gaz: the only characters that I actually liked in MWIII. It seems like the less presence you have in the story the better your character can be. (not you Ghost and Graves). These characters were actually tolerable if anything compared to the rest of the cast.
The After Credit Scene: oh that was satisfying. Killing Shepherd before he became danger to anyone else ever again, and Shepherd was like “I ain't begging for my life” and Price was like “I know” and just shoots him. Price was not taking risks anymore.
Now this scene, here we saw the RAW Price. Now after losing one of the closest 141 members to him, Price was in for blood, he was on his way to hell, and he was going to take every. single. poor and pathetic bastard that inflicted harm to his task force. You can see the pain and the guilt in Price’s eyes in that scene, he blames himself for Soap’s death for sure. I loved that emotional part of him, I just wish he was like that the whole campaign. RAW and unfiltered. This was my favorite scene in the game, period.
Conclusion: they had good intentions… but making what was supposed to be DLCs into a fully fledged campaign was not the way to go. I wish more creativity was thrown into the story, the points were good, yes my theory was good, (shut up im biased) but it had some solid points, but the plot holes and the poorly executed story was the demise of this game.
Like Mari and I had a better fucking story written out WITH this storyline WITHOUT anyone dying, and to prepare for MWIIII. They could’ve used the “Price going MIA” from the og games and implemented it in this game, instead of killing Soap like that. Maybe kill him off later on after recovering Price back like they did in the og MW. so many potentials, yet very poor and bad execution to the story. Man Sledgehammer writers were not fucking cooking at all. I hate them all.
I would give the game: 6/10.
also I'm still expecting apologies from the people who theorized Soap was a traitor. yall better be so fucking sorry about it. even the people who entertained the idea of it even if you didn't come up with it. shame on you all.
Speculation with Spoilers.
If it would play out the way I see it and if they are not limited to 5 seasons (which is what I think they are doing for Vox Machina)
Season 1 ends with the Attack on Zadash.
Season 2 ends with Lorenzo's Defeat (which means Molly's incident is mid season cliffhanger)
Season 3 is the Pirate season and ends with the Happy Fun Ball
Season 4 mid season cliffhanger is Caleb's Choice and the final is when The Laughing Hand is Released.
Season 5 mid season is Permaheart and the final is the Cathedral battle
Season 6 is Clay's quest and the Mole reveal and when they land in Vo
7 is the rumplecusp arc and dinner with a certain wizard and the reveal of a certain character coming back.
Season 8 is the Eiselcross Arc and the series finale.
My reasoning is that Campaign 2 had more sessions than campaign 1 so it would end extra seasons to fill up. And I am being very optimistic.
RQ stream notes
So today Rusty Quill streamed! Woo! Alex J. Newall did a creative jam to create an audio drama in... 2 hours? I think? Anyway! I took notes!
The end result was an elevator pitch, synopsis for 6 episodes, and a somewhat fully-produced pilot episode.
It features three main characters (two protagonists and an antagonist) and two entire dogs, in a Noir Western setting.
Enjoy the notes! (Warning: they are long.)
Alex' ground rules -No swearing/anything that'll get him kicked off Twitch -Only original stories -No TMP spoilers or he gets bapped -6-part series with 10min of fully produced audio drama
-Genre - usually do a genre blend (between two different genres) (ex.: romoantic-horror) to allow for more elaborate concepts Genre choice: Noir | Western -Did some brainstorming for keywords in Aesthetics -Quickly going through Wikipedia to research the genres and find points to fill the project guide. Determine how long we have VS what kinds of stories we have time to do -Get a couple characters (3 to be exact) -Elevator pitch -Character bio detail brainstorming -Quick summary of each episode, per season -Cannibalism gave title idea: Eat the Rich (lmao actual cannibal Shia LaBoeuf) -Text between brackets is to the creators' benefit rather than in the actual episode -Pilot needs a Final Complication/hook/cliffhanger in order to get the listener's attention -Alex abuses of speech-to-text (it fights back sometimes) -Writes pilot script -Writes tagline mid-pilot scripting -Once script is over, highlighted parts that are being voice-acted -Started actually voice acting the scene -Silent sound markers (snap fingers - wait a few seconds - snap fingers again. I think this is for denoising purposes) -Occasionally makes voiceacting notes/redoes lines -Moving screams in separate layers. A lot of things he's doing can be done automatically but he's doing it in Audacity manually so we see what's going on. He'll also be taking shortcuts and such that he shouldn't -Silence marker - effect - noise reduction (after getting sound profile for the silence) -(reduce memory load by doing Stereo To Mono while working; do NOT do this for a real podcast ahaha) -Normalize audio -Audacity is a destructive audio program which makes things Difficult (I think Reaper isn't which is neat) -Use fades to hide a cut -One track per scene? -Use scene cuts where a lot is left unsaid -Once dialogue is cut, finds SFX (he has soundbanks - soundbanks good) -Oh No Soundscaping (TM) -And then Music (ft. Upbeat Sax- I mean what?) -Exporting stuff is very frustrating (ft. Alex flappy hands, but angy) -Does artwork during exporting (ft. Alex goat noises) (graphic design is his passion) (he's using Paint) -EQ work! -Exporting -Alex is very good at doing the post-episode monologue
Brainstorm Template: -Key Info *Title (Eat the rich) *Logline (It's dog eat dog in the belly of the new world beast) *Elevator pitch (Grim the gritty outsider with nothing to lose stumbles upon the railway being built none other than Princeton with dangerous labour practices and there's a secret conspiracy that can only be unearther with the help of Elisa Thorne. [HERE, Alex takes more detailed notes and doesn't really pause so I didn't note the dialogue and such. Also Alex's accent is glorious.] [He talked about digging a pit and now everyone in chat is spamming DIG] [The speech to text keeps writing Gunfight Ensues as Gunfighting Shoes.] ["I like Grim. Grim's a fun character." Same, Alex, same.] [Shoutout to Alex doing beatboxing with a weird dog noise while trimming sounds] [plays thunder sound "Ohohoho! I don't care if it's Gothic! My wife has dissapeared KPHHHHHW"] [Alex' frustrated sounds are something to behold. Gremlin noises fr.] [Chat has started singing Hellfire by the Mechanisms] ["I warn everyone, this isn't going to be a thing that is pleasant to listen to"] ["NARRATION!"] [File is huge. There is now a vote in chat, called Chonk? with three options, Chonk, Chonk, and Chonk. The first Chonk won!] [Notetaker's note: I still miss Winston Princeton]
TMP news: "Jonny has pitched to me the most horrific thing ever" [about s3 of TMP?] etc etc (can't share it. WHAT A TEASE >:| /lh)
I want to ask a question but… I don't know, I think it's better to be direct
I respect your ability to create a story like repop au, but I've never read it due to bad experiences with this type of dystopia (I can't do it without feeling bad), however, during a conversation between friends, discover that you will give a happy/satisfactory ending
When the story of the war is revealed, can Prowl, Skyfire, Cromia and others have the satisfaction of revealing what the bots were really like and giving Optimus and Ironhide a final slap?Will cities like Vos be rebuilt? Will rainmakers cease to be extinct?Will Starscream (and others) meet their deceased comrades in the afterlife?
I mean, it's supposed to make you feel bad. It's a psych-horror dystopia. It's supposed to be uncomfortable and sickening and really illustrate just how far things can fall when people are ruled by fear and unchecked biases
Having said that... yes, your friend is right (who are you, mysterious one?). It does have a happy ending planned, and in fact all of the blocking is ready save for one (1) arc. I'll address each question point for point, tho I can't give out too many details because, y'know. Spoilers.
1. The story of the war being revealed, I'm not sure to whom you mean. The general population already knows about the war and the farm systems. It's just a normal part of life for them. Like how agriculture farms are the norm irl? They don't see the warframes as anything more than cattle. Like oh yeah, kinda sad that they have to die, but it's necessary. Whatever.
2. I've already planned out Ironhide's death, and it's very satisfying. I can't say any more than that. Optimus doesn't end up dead, but he does help make things right in the end. As bad as I make him sound, he is genuinely trying to be good. Just because he's not making the best choices doesn't mean he has bad intentions
3. Yes, the destroyed warframes cities will be recreated
4. The Rainmakers and their extinction actually becomes a relevant plot point after the escape, so I can't really touch on that right now
5. Megatron, Starscream, and Soundwave are reborn for the main story and are still alive at the end, so they personally won't be reuniting with anyone, but anyone who's died thus far does get to rest peacefully in the Allspark.
There's never any pressure for you to read the repop if you don't want to or aren't comfortable, but I'm not going to stop posting about it. Feel free to block the tag or mute my blog, whatever helps. If you have any other questions, my ask box is always open! Or if you'd like to speak one-on-one about it, same goes for my dms.
OK I hope my readmore on mobile works. SPOILERS FOR INFINITY PIOL OBVIOUSLY these are just my post initial watch word vomit thoughts.
OK SO FIRST off god the arsthetic. obsessed. he has such an eye for framing. definitely felt extremely similar vibes to possessor with all the saturated blues & the cameras flipping upside down & the doubling scene. definitely similar vibes to the Vos possession scene. & huge similarities with the sex scenes too but that sex scene was ABSOLUTELY FUCKING INSANE???
& god there's nothing like those moments where you get to be like I FUCKING KNEW IT!! he didn't lose his passport. the execution was from the doubles perspective this time around. he was never really one of them. it was a double not the detective under the sheet. kind of insane that it never came up that he couldn't afford more doubling on his own I was SO expecting at some point for it to come up that without em he couldn't afford it.
the fucking. commodification of violence. what are you willing to be complicit in if you can convince yourself what your hands are clean. the identity and personhood. how DO you know its the right one. like was the James who lived ti the end even the original James? it's possible that the dog was the original. he didn't know they had made a other double. they could've been switched out anytime.
& the way that all the "zombies" were so just. NORMAL at the end. compartmentalized everything. like their vacation selves are another kind of double. & how James is just not able to do that ig? even in the end after killing his double he's still not like them and never was. canr move on & go back to normal. at least that's the interpretation I came away with on an initial watch. I'll definitely jave to watch it more times to REALLY dig into it like with all of Brandon's stuff there's sooooo much going on its hard to get it all on one go.
& ok two small things that were just CRAZY to me. the scene w the pee splashing on the ground and then the cum on the ground. BONKERS!! & that fucking weird thing with the nipple during the hallucination coming back around with the bloody breastfeeding near the end. INSANE!!!
& probably a topic I'll dive into more another time but god I am thinking so much about the similarities between Syd & Vos & James. the way Brandon's protagonist are all these like. perpetual outsiders. these people who are just like INCAPABLE of being on the inside maybe not from the start in every case but by the end absolutely. the like. corruption arcs. all 3 of them get worse.
and on a less serious note James absolute candidate for new most pathetic man on earth. Jesus christ. even though I knew what was coming when she was like bring out the dog. Jesus fucking christ.
absolutely have to go see it again. one of the movies of all time. you crazy boatyard LOL I MEANT CRAZY BASTARD rereading whatbi wrote on the train without my glasses on god. you've done it again. my god I can't believe the scene where we we're watching the whole group getting executed and it pans over and we see them in the audience people in the theater were LAUGHING? one thing I think I learned from seeing crimes of the future in theaters 4 or was it 5 times. is that people are uncomfortable with their discomfort. because there was NOTHING funny about that scene it was fucking HARROWING!! that they could witness somwthing like that as if it was like. dinner theater.
the choice to open that scene on the doubles chatting & being dragged out as if they were the originals was just brilliant BRILLIANT GENIUS I CANT GET OVER IT like showing us what it's like from the other side which it seems like they just so easily dismiss. to the doubles it IS like they're the originals just being dragged to their deaths. so fucking crazy one of the best scenes absolutely.
ok I thibk that's all I've got for the moment but god. wow.
Pancake’s Pride Month Book Recs!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Delightful Romance Novels
These three books are heavy on the romance and read like the best fanfiction, with plenty of humor and heartbreak before the (spoiler alert) happy ending!
The Charm Offensive by Alison Cochrun:
Dev works as a producer on a Bachelor-like reality TV show and desperately wants his own happily ever after. Enter Charlie: this season’s Prince Charming, who’s anxious and afraid to let anyone in, but handsome as hell. Secret dating and strong mental health themes round it all out to make this mlm + aspec romance a wonderful read 😊
One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston:
23yo August falls in love on the New York Subway when she sees the leather-jacket-clad Jane who’s quite literally stepped out of the 70s and into the modern day. Between the lovable queer community, drag queens, pancakes, and time travel mystery, this wlw book is so so great!
A Marvellous Light by Freya Marske
After landing a government job he knows nothing about, Robin finds himself embroiled in a magical side of London he also knew nothing about. In Edwardian England, he teams up with the incredibly smart but reserved magician Edwin to figure out what happened to his missing predecessor. There are libraries and labyrinths and countryside manors, spicy scenes and an inventive magic system in this mlm romance ✨ plus, a wlw sequel is coming out later this year 👀
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Sad Gays
Don’t expect a happy ending with these, but they’re gorgeous love stories that will stick in your mind and refuse to leave.
Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller
A retelling of the Illiad through Patroclus’s POV, as he and Achilles fall in love as young boys and become fiercely devoted to each other. But of course there’s war and glory and tragedy to be had… this one’s heart wrenching for sure! But oh it’s a beautiful read 💜
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
In a fictionalized old Hollywood, the beautiful young Evelyn Hugo does whatever it takes to become a star and goes through seven marriages in the process. Although that’s what she’s famous for, the book is actually about hiding queerness when coming out could have wrecked your career— I got wayyy more emotionally compromised from this book than I expected! (There’s wlw and mlm in it!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Magical Bisexuals
The Chosen and the Beautiful by Nghi Vo
This one’s a retelling of The Great Gatsby, but from the POV of Daisy’s friend Jordan Baker. In this version, Jordan is a Vietnamese queer woman with a talent for magical paper craft. In fact, just about every character is now queer! It’s not a simple love story, but it’s certainly one to suck you into it’s hazy world of parties and poor choices. There’s one scene in particular that has stuck with me for months now.
The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue by V.E. Schwab
As a hopelessly lost 20-something this one really hit home for me— we quickly learn that the immortal Addie LaRue is forgotten by everyone she meets until she comes across Henry who somehow remembers her. The book alternates telling her 300 year history (beginning in France when she gets her curse) and their present day story. Both main characters are bi! This is one book I absolutely didn’t want to end.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Fantasy Trilogies
The Shades of Magic Trilogy by V. E. Schwab:
This trilogy is mostly about the magic plot of parallel universe Londons and the struggles of its main characters, with a side of romance. While I’m p sure all the characters are bi, there is definitely a take-my-breath-away mlm romance. And oh! The characters! They’re wonderful— from the powerful but leashed magician Kell to the girl with all the knives Lilah to the charming but hurting prince Rhy. They simply don’t let go of your heart even after you’re done reading.
The Simon Snow Trilogy by Rainbow Rowell:
The mlm romance takes center stage in this trilogy!! They’re rivals at their magic school which is delicious in itself, but add to that an interesting breakdown of the chosen one trope, an amazing dive into how depression can affect your relationship, vampiric self-discovery, and downright hilarious writing and I can’t tell you how many times I’ve listened to these audiobooks 😅
I think a lot of people have probably already read many of these books but eh, whatever— they’re my fave queer books I’ve read in the last few years! 💖💜💙
I joked with @caerulea-divilu that I’d start this Scorp!talk off with “for kriff’s sake, Dickney” but didn’t realize how utterly appropriate it be until I watched episode 3 of Kenobi.
Seriously, Dickney, what the kriff?
Do you read the posts on Twitter asking how much worse it can get and literally go, “hold our Corellian ale?”
So, since this will contain spoilers, I will say now, scroll on by…
….
….
….
Okay, you were warned,
Our first glimpse of Darth Vader has him talking with Reva and essentially guaranteeing her a promotion if she delivers Kenobi to him.
Seriously?
You don’t question how your Grand Inquisitor ends up “incapacitated” (because we totes don’t touch on him being dead or what at all) while your other inquisitor (the one considered the lowliest of the lot) somehow gets away unscathed?
Nah, doesn’t make Darth “I choke people for the sheer eopie of it” Vader look incredibly gullible or anything! It’s totes fine! Cause Reva survived and will deliver what he wants as promised!
Tumblr media
Cheap way of promoting her to the lead position without her having to do a damn thing to actually earn it.
But nah this is great writing, folks!
Who else knew the “mole” was going to sell out Obi and Leia? Called it soon as Leia flagged him down. Now, I know people are totes in love with Leia and her dynamic with Obi (which has good seconds) but it’s not cute in the long scheme of things. She’s another device being used to emasculate Kenobi (same as the other females in the show). Don’t give me the “she’s a Princess, she’s used to commanding people” spiel. It’s not going to track with me. Her character is being used to nerf Obi-Wan and her own brother, even.
Why?
Because Kathleen Kennedy is going to shove this Force is Female poodoo down our throats at any and all costs.
Look, let me clear, Obi-Wan struggling with connecting to the Force because he has done his best not to rely on the Force works… to a point.
He didn’t develop dementia while in exile.
He hasn’t forgotten how to think.
This made him look like a dementia’d old man needing a ten-year-old to do all their thinking.
Him not doing a “we aren’t the people you’re looking for” was honesty lame but okay, we’ll roll with it (since Dickney’s given us no choice).
Also, Obi-Wan shooting the box to lower the lasers rails instead of going around it was also scene chewing for the sake of getting other troopers there to confront him.
Oh, look, the actress who plays Tala was also in Rome! I liked her in that show and I liked her here (even though her intro was a bit contrived and lacked any sort of real suspense).
Their interaction and the name drop of Quinlan Vos didn’t bother me. Tala was a nice way to foreshadow how the Rebellion is operating behind the scenes with a network of spies (of which Bail and Ashoka are involved but we needed to get Obi off Tatooine to truly neuter him…)
Vader wrecking the town didn’t overly bother me because I am choosing to see it as his way of luring out Obi-Wan. There is calculation here on his part. He knows Obi-Wan. He knows he will want to help. To stop him.
He just doesn’t realize his former master is also a shell of the man he once was.
He’s expecting Master Kenobi.
He (and we) gets Ben, instead.
That duel… *sigh*
It was just… not good.
There was no intensity, no emotion, no real drama here. No, they’re not episode 3 level but they’re capable of delivering hard, impactful lines. You have James Earl karkin Jones and Ewan MckriffinGregor here and these are the best lines you can write for them?!?
The camera shots in this scene were also terrible, the sound effects worse than those found in a beginning fan made film, and the lighting atrocious. Look, I get what they were going for, the play between light and dark, how both are lost in the darkness but it just came off badly. $25 million an episode and this is the best we get?
No.
Just no.
The only cool moment in this was Anakin burning Obi-Wan. However, as cool as it was, there’s still flaws to it (and Obi-Wan getting rescued again by a female isn’t my largest complaint). Obi-Wan just accepts being burned alive? No Qui-Gon voiceover telling him to get up? Use the Force? No, we’re just going to accept being immolated because… reasons.
Okay…
Once Tala shows up to rescue Obi-Wan, Vader just stands there and watches as a slow-ass droid carries him off.
WTF?
Seriously?
Are we supposed to accept he suddenly decided to let his old master go after seconds before trying to immolate him?
Ah but the best part of this episode (*sarcasm*) is Reva Knows Everything has easily found the hidden bunker and tunnel that Tala a few scenes before said was used to ferry out other Jedi without any incidents! Better still, she gets to the end of the tunnel before Leia (who has been running this tunnel the whole time) and kills the pilot.
Suspension of belief… zero.
Folks, this episode was a complete mess. Consoomers and the whumpies are the only ones praising it because the first doesn’t care about quality writing and the other is only focused on the whump. I am an emotional whumper. I love seeing Obi struggling and dealing with issues. The burn scene tripped off my whumperflies. However, I am also a writer. Maybe not a good one by the standards of the folks here on Tumblr but I am one. I know what constitutes a good story.
This isn’t one.
Simply, Kenobi should be better.
We deserve better.
Period.
Blue Tarantula 3/??
(Before I get distracted again and say "Oh sure I'll upload the next one after eating dinner I'll post is as well so lets see, I'll leave this one a lil more longer because I dont remember in which page theres a POV change... is it a spoiler? maybe 👀)
Becoming Blue Tarantula was already weird some years ago. But learning there's actually multiple universes and confirming it was not a play… it's… a very weird feeling. I had known about what a multiverse is because people don't ever stop talking about them…but it had never been confirmed that it's an ACTUAL thing, you know? Like when you see something on the tv or online and you know it exists… but when you actually see it with your own eyes you cannot believe it.
I guess the big dude did help me after all, if it was not because of his.. dumb intervention I would not be here… I’ll have to go thank him for that and apologize for attacking him.
I decided to take a walk around the place… Just to make sure I was not falling into a trap and to calm down my previous anxieties, I took a better look at the floors and the people walking around, some of them even saying hi while passing by.
Lots of them swinging around together, talking, laughing, enjoying themselves… I even found out they got a “training” room and people were testing their web shooting abilities… it looks fun, maybe I’ll give it a try later.
I lost track of time and night came as I explored this place myself, and I found myself again in the dimly lit hallway.
“Quiza deberia buscarlo y pedirle perdón…” Was my thought as I walked straight to that triangular door, I expected it to not open and ask me a password…but it opened right away.
I entered thinking he was going to be there but no, apparently one long ass corridor was not enough and he needed to be even more hidden, but now in a place that looked similar to a research or lab with a lot of machinery that was beyond my knowledge.
The red dim lights of the holographic screens were the only thing guiding me towards him, the silent hum of their mechanical parts softly reminding me of some expensive buildings I had the opportunity to get into. A softer blue light coming from a distant corner, probably pointing me where this dude is.
I still couldn't believe all of the things that happened and I'm still not sure if my choice will be the correct one…or if I’m walking towards my ultimate demise.
I kept walking until I found myself in a taller room, a harsh blue light coming from up illuminating a place I am sure needs more light than that. Desktops and more machinery that only this man probably knew what did.
And there he was in the middle, on top of a weirdly shaped platform that hovered over the floor. His back facing me and him being surrounded by what looked like thousands of those orange screens and a massive console that definitely did not look like if it was taken out from a sci-fi movie set… except of course, these ones actually work.
I heard the faint sound of a little girl talking and laughing… Is he watching something? I saw him move another screen closer to his side, with the photo of a little girl and him… Is he a dad?!
I approached him slowly, thinkin how to start my apology… I should just go for it. “¿Miguel?”
He moved the screens away quickly, turning his torso to see me.
“Hey… ahm…”
“¿Quieres que te envíe a casa?”
“¿Huh? No no, olvida… Olvida lo que dije cuando estaba enojado.”
“Supongo que Parker logró hablar contigo.”
“Si.. y ahm…” I came closer to his platform. “...Lo siento. Por atacarte y… reaccionar de esa manera.”
He lifted an eyebrow.
“Sonara estupido y reite si quieres, pero realmente pensé que ustedes eran trabajadores de Alchemax que me habían secuestrado.”
“...”
“...También lo siento por no agradecerte que me salvaste de una muerte dolorosa, no... no estaba del todo bien en ese momento… Sigo sin estarlo pero vos me entendes.”
“Ehem” The holo lady nudged his arm and he sighed.
“Yo… también lo siento por no controlar mi ira. Y por no tomar en consideración lo que estabas sintiendo.”
“aaaaand?”
“...Y por tratar de obligarte a unirte a nosotros sin tomar en cuenta lo que tu querías.”
It seems I was not the only one being “scolded” for my attitude.
I awkwardly offered him my hand, and he returned the gesture, shaking it slowly.
“Supongo que estamos a mano.”
“¿Qué decidiste? Solo quiero saber, no lo digo con intención de forzar-”
“Me voy a quedar.”
“...¿Estás seguro?”
“Digo, no es como que tenga cosas tan interesantes pasando en mi universo.” I placed my arms behind my head. “Pero-.”
“¿Pero?”
“...Antes de decidirme totalmente, te voy a hacer unas últimas preguntas.”
He crossed his arms. “Te escucho.”
“Todavía no se enteramente quién es Miguel O’Hara. Se que así te llamas… y juzgando por lo que sabes de mi, ya te sabes toda mi vida… Y si voy a poner mi confianza en vos, necesito saber quien sos.”
“...”
“...?”
“Supongo que es justo que te hable de eso.” Miguel came out from his platform. “Querías saber también qué pasa si no arreglamos las anomalías ¿Verdad?
“¿Aja…?”
“Bueno.” His eyes moved to the holo lady. “Yo viví una en carne propia.”
As if he gave her an order, she made several more holograms appear, showing different images as he explained.
“Supongo que estarás familiarizado con el concepto de “canon””
“Maso, ¿Qué tiene que ver eso?”
“Todos nosotros estamos conectados por ello. La vida de un spiderman tiene etapas las cuales son “canónicas” para todos. Ya sean momentos felices, logros importantes… y desgracias.”
The holograms showed me some people I recognized, everyone mourning a dead person… and then there was me, mourning Gwen.
I immediately covered my mouth and looked away. “No, no-. No me mostres eso.”
“No te lo estoy mostrando por crueldad. Es para que entiendas una cosa.” He approached me. “...No fue tu culpa que ella muriera.”
I turned my eyes to him. “Qué estás diciendo… ¡Sí lo fue!”
“Que no, Rox. Estaba destinado a que sucediera. Hicieras lo que hicieras, ella moriría.”
I took a glance again at the hologram, painstakingly having to hear my own sobs and crying when I found her on the ground.
“Todos pasamos por algo así, Rox. No fuiste el único.”
“...¿Que te paso a ti?”
The holograms changed.
“Investigando las anomalías me tope con un universo donde tenía una familia.” His eyes turned to the images. “Pero la versión mía de ese universo murió. Y lo reemplace conmigo.”
“...Y… ¿Que paso?”
“Rompí el canon de ese universo… y lo perdí todo.”
People running away from something began to appear in the holograms, with one resembling Miguel holding his daughter in his arms… until she vanished like the rest of the people and city.
I widened my eyes in disbelief… That.. That’s what’s going to happen to my universe if we don't stop it...? A cold shiver ran across my back imagining the situation.
Miguel stood in silence for a moment, it's not easy to recall such hurtful memories.
The holograms disappeared right after, leaving the two of us back in the blue light…
I didn't know he… wow… Now I feel worse for being a dickhead to him. He genuinely just wanted to help me avoid that happening to me…
“...”
“...”
“...Lo siento de nuevo. No sabia que te había pasado a vos personalmente… Si hubiera sabido-”
“Ya pasó.” He lifted his hand. “Tienes tus razones para haberte comportado así.”
“Igual, Miguel. Fue muy mierda de mi parte…”
“Entonces… ¿Qué decidirás?”
“Me unire a ustedes.”
“¿Estás completamente seguro?”
“...Si.” I finally said, looking at his eyes.
He gave half a smile. “Me alegra que lo decidiste.” Then produced one of those bracelets from behind and offered it to me. “Todo tuyo.”
He helped me put it in my wrist, and it lit up displaying the apparent number of my universe.
“Te sere sincero Miguel, para mi este bolado todavía… todavía se siente irreal.”
“Te acostumbraras, solo trata de no quitartelo mientras estés en otro universo.”
“No, no, me refiero… Todavía siento como que en cualquier momento voy a abrir los ojos y voy a estar en la grama del estadio.”
“Te diste un golpe muy fuerte ahí.” His voice sounded more serene, caring even. “Tenía miedo que tus heridas fueran demasiado severas y necesitaras alguna cirugía.”
“Tengo huesos fuertes, ¿Que puedo decir? De pequeño tuve un accidente de auto con mi papá y quebré el vidrio con la cabeza.” I pointed at my forehead. “No se me abrió nada ni me quebré la frente.”
Miguel made a worried expression, and Lyla appeared.
“Well that explains the skull scar” The what?
“¿Ah?”
“Ignorala.” But- “Me alegra… Me alegra que estés a salvo."
Miguel was about to approach me when a hologram popped beside him
"Uhh, Miguel? We got a situation of a lost bad guy in Earth-602567"
"Thanks Peter, I'll send someone right away".
Miguel turned his eyes to me.
"¿Quieres hacer tu primer encargo?"
"Tampoco es como que tenga urgencia de regresar a mi universo."
“Bien.” Miguel stepped off his platform. “Vamos.”
“¿Vamos a ir caminando?” I began to follow him.
“No me gusta hacer portales en el laboratorio, se vuelan los papeles.”
“Suena como que alguien deberia ser mas ordenado”
“Quizá.”
Leaving the lab he touched some stuff in his bracelet, opening one of those portals
"Tu primero." He replied before his mask appeared on him… Damn I left mine in the infirmary.
I approached the portal, stepping in scaredly and feeling the force of the portal dragging me in.
I lost balance and ended up spinning up until I was able to somewhat balance myself awkwardly while Miguel was behind me, chill and composed.
"Show off" I muttered to myself and almost lost balance again.
After some moments we reached the other side, because of my position I ended up slipping on the floor, but managed to stop myself before falling on the edge of the rooftop we appeared.
I looked around in awe. The buildings were just as tall as those in very big cities, crystal windowed skyscrapers and several other smaller (but still tall) buildings.
Migue then came out almost the same, but landing on fours and easily lifting himself.
"¿No te mareaste?"
"Me pregunto como putas no me desperté cuando me llevaste" I got up groaning softly.
"You'll get used to it." He handed me a piece of cloth. "Vamos."
I unfolded it and it was my mask? No, a new mask to replace my old one… gods, this dude.
“Rox.” He called me and I put on the mask, following him to where the bad guy appeared.
We managed to get into a back alley, with the sounds of punches and stuff being thrown increasing until we were able to see the dude who called Miguel.
“MIGUEL!” The dude called him while being held from his chest by a glitching green man, oh this gotta be someone’s goblin.
He turned his head around, greeting us with a creepy smile and sharp teeth… my senses warned me and I pushed Miguel aside. Just as I thought, the goblin had called his plane thingy and jumped in it, preparing to escape.
“¡Pero que-!” Miguel looked up and with his web (laser?) launched himself off to catch him, managing to cling his talons on the glider to unstabilize it.
As Miguel tried to climb it I noticed they were approaching a building, probably about to hit it when both me and the other dude shot our webs at the glider and the goblin, then dragging him to the ground as he and Miguel fell.
Miguel, of course, landed safely. Can’t say the same about the goblin who fell on his back.
“Good job guys.” Miguel approached us, but I saw behind him was the Goblin yet again trying to attack him.
“¡AH NO!” I shot webs at his body, putting him against the wall of the building, finally pinning him down.
Miguel turned at him surprised, then at me. “Thank you.”
The other dude began to cough, probably out of air from all the fight he did before we came here. “Thank you so much, Miguel.”
“Thank you for warning us. Sorry we took so long.” He lifted his bracelet again. “Lyla, scan the place. Rox, tie him up.”
“...Me?”
“Yes, you.” He didn't say another word and waited for me to do it.
The goblin was still kicking and moving, trying to get rid of my web to escape.
“Hey don't move, you’ll make this harder.”
He mumbled around, calling me names and even saying what I was going to die of, pretty usual stuff I guess.
I tried to tie him, but his non stopping move was pissing me off. “Ok I fucking warned you.” I kicked him with my knee on there prompting an “oof” from the other spiderman and finally controlling the goblin enough to tie him with my web.
And just in case, I pushed my thumb on one of my fangs, letting some of my own venom come out to put it on my web. In case he tries to touch it.
Neither the other spiderman or Miguel noticed. So… Mission accomplished?
After that we returned, Miguel told me he would contact me with anything he needed me to do so I was pretty much free to go. I took it as a sign to go and explore the HQ more while he returned to his lab.
I tried to see if I could find where he keeps his cameras... In case I was…curious… of where he could see me.
What I found was that surprisingly most spidermen are... Very polite? Most of them said hi while I walked and some even asked my name or why my suit has that design. A complete opposite of Miguel's serious personality.
I decided to stick around some more, finding a door to the outside of the building and sitting on one of the crystal walls, away from all the fuss and sounds of people talking and now being greeted with the sound of the wind.
The night sky is beautiful from here, I can see more stars than back home… Even the height of the buildings was just… so intimidating.
And the lights coming off from another entrance caught my attention, I got closer and realized it was the window from Miguel's lab.
He was there, in the same place in front of the monitors… but sleeping on his seat like he couldn't simply move away and go to sleep on a bed.
"Este pendejo…" I mumbled nodding my head sideways.
I returned inside and went to the infirmary I had woken up, took one of the blankets and went inside his lab. Reaching his platform with my webs.
His face had a frown while some soft snores came out from his nose. I weirdly found it cute how even sleeping he had such a grumpy face. Poor man didn't even let his facial muscles rest when sleeping.
But also, he didn't sense me again. So I carefully placed the blanket on top of him, giving one last look to his sleepy face before leaving.
I took a peek at the screens, he was still looking at the photo of him and his daughter…I guess that explains his stressed attitude… I feel some sort of relatedness with him.
And how hard is it for the both of us to let the past go.
—---------------------------------------------------
Two months have passed after I joined the spider society, the numbers of spiderpeople have increased and I've grown accustomed to it. Jessica was one of the newest and Miguel decided to have her as a third in command, she is so kind to me and sometimes we eat together. She even let me ride her bike around Miguel's universe… let's just say he wasn't happy about it, but I didn't care.
Speaking of him… we haven't really talked after that day, he usually keeps to himself in his lab and doesn't really socializes with anybody… which certainly rubbed me the wrong way since I thought we c-
…What am I even saying? Forget about it.
The only moments he talks to us is to send us to capture another bad guy and rarely goes himself… last time he went was to convince this british dude to join us.
He… Wasn't excited to say, but thanks to me he joined us and you know? Hobie is a pretty cool kid, I could use more like him back at home fighting the regime. I even talked with him about it and he seemed excited to join me in a fight someday in my universe.
I like to drop by his universe once in a while with some food. Well, he is not the only one I try to share it with, Jessica loved the tamales I gave her last week and Peter said his wife enjoyed them as well jaja…
I guess you could say my life has improved somehow, the situation back home is still shitty and I still cry to sleep sometimes… but now I know I have people who I can talk to and enjoy a good moment with, I even noticed I have less eyebags.
And yet… I don't understand why I still feel so lonely and sad when I'm by myself.
And Miguel's silence is starting to stress me out.
So one day without thinking, I found myself getting into Miguel's lab without calling, casually walking towards him while he was "working". I assumed he had already noticed I was there so I didn't try to be stealthy.
And there he was, on the high of his platform, his back facing me and the faint sound of holo buttons being pushed. I crossed my arms and leaned on the corner, observing him from behind while he did his thing.
The blue light from above defined his back muscles and outline of his body, his very few movements in silence and occasional sigh were almost relaxing… and for some reason I found myself smiling endearingly.
Just because I was able to see him again.
He moved some of the screens away to drag one closer to him, from away it looked like… a camera in my universe? He analyzed it for some seconds to then press a button to change the camera. He did this around 5 times, everytime changing them more quickly as if he was searching for something.
"Layla." I heard him call his assistant
"Mhm?" She replied while she filed her nails.
"Show me where’s Rox." Ah, me?
"They are actually riiight behind you." Layla pointed at me with her thumb.
Miguel turned around quickly, trying to regain composure. "What are you doing here?"
"I wanted to visit you." I replied, separating myself from the wall.
"I'm busy."
"I didn't say I was going to interrupt you." I walked closer. "Although it seems you already get distracted spying on me. Why do you have cameras around my neighborhood?"
"That's classified and none of your business." He coldly said.
"Wow why are you being so fucking rude out of a sudden? I thought we were friends."
"We are not friends, we are just colleagues."
I opened my eyes widely not believing how fucking rude he had turned, this is exactly what happens when I let my guard down. Suddenly I'm feeling interested in someone and they turn out to be a major asshole.
He turned around before I could reply and continued his work as if nothing had happened. I felt my body starting to shiver and swallowed my ego.
"Ta bien. Come tres mil hectáreas de verga entonces, Miguel." I turned around to leave when I heard him muttering something.
"About damn time."
I stopped dead in my tracks, oh this motherfucker is dead. I turned around slowly, eyes wide open while looking at me
"The fuck did you say? Oh, you now feel so mighty and powerful that you think you can treat others that way? WHEN THEY ARE JUST TRYING TO BE NICE?"
Miguel stood still, his back turned at me while I could see his patience running thin. And mine was already broken.
"Yeah thats what I fucking thought. Next time someone tries to be nice with you maybe, just fucking maybe be POLITE or did the spider that bit you took out your manners?"
I took out a plastic container I had brought with me from home, one filled with platanitos fritos I wanted to share with Miguel… this is exactly what happens when I try to be fucking nice for once.
I threw it on the ground and gave it a kick towards Miguel, with the container not even touching him but instead landing on his platform.
"Hay ve que putas haces con esa mierda, hartatela si queres, cerote. Pero que esta será la última vez que me vas a ver amable con vos." I finished the discussion and left the lab furious, I don't care if he eats them or if he throws them. I don't want to see him anymore.
I touched some stuff on my watch, opening a portal back home. I purposely avoided the streets I had seen on his cameras, then got into my house from the backside.
I took off my mask and threw it to the ground as soon as I entered my room, throwing myself on the bed and laying in silence.
Why is it that when I try to be nice and open myself… this always happens? I thought we could support each other knowing we had gone through shit. I thought that was the reason he wanted me to join…
What happened to the words he said to me that day? Did he just… manipulate me?
Of course he fucking did. Of. Fucking. Course. There was no denying it. I fell flat to his trap, I let his kind words deceive me and make me believe that because we had things in common we would get along and understand each other.
But no. It happened again. It fucking happened again.
I held back my tears as much as I could, I do not want to let out tears for someone like him… but I'm still not strong enough against my own feelings.
I hid my face under my blanket and the pillow, letting my tears flow as I felt so… so hurt.
Some minutes passed and I felt a faint orange light appear in my room.
"Rox? You there?" It was Jess.
"I'm sleeping." I tried to sound as ok as possible.
"So you left the hub mumbling curses just to go to sleep?"
"Mhm, everythings ok."
"You know you can tell me anythi-"
"I'm fine Jess."
"Are you hiding?"
"Helps my spider powers to get more sharp."
I heard her sigh. "If you need anything, just call me. Ok sweety?"
"Got it, thanks Jess." I feel sorry for lying to her… but I just don't want to talk to anybody or show myself more vulnerable. Even if she may be able to help me.
The light disappeared and I sighed. At least that will keep anybody from bothering me for some hours…
I took off my watch and suit, and decided to get some sleep, letting the dreams of a better life drift me away for some time… If only I could take some time to rest for a few hours.
Except I forgot I can't, and the distant explosion made me get up immediately and put on my suit, mumbling some words as I left, traveling as fast as I could.
I got on top of the ceilings nearby from where the explosion had happened. It was an abandoned construction of some apartments… and some people helping some injured kids on the basketball court beside it.
“Por la gran…” I jumped to meet them, immediately trying to check if they were ok. “¿Que paso que paso? ¿Cómo estamos?”
“El Kevin subió a traer la pelota porque este maje la tiró para allá.” One of the kids said while holding his arm hurting.
“¿Y el dónde está?”
“Sigue arriba…”
“Va, voy.” I quickly threw a web to one of the open floors, smoke still coming out from it.
I knew neither police or firemen would arrive on time, so sadly I was the only option they had to go and help. I walked around as carefully and quickly as I could.
“¡KEVIN! ¡DÉCIME DONDE ESTAS!”
“¡TARANT-!” I heard the voice of a kid being muffled on the upper floor and ran towards it, then stopped as the smoke dissipated.
And as it disappeared I saw the kid, being held hostage by none other than Daniel… Or as he calls himself “Doc Oc”.
Even though this man did not practice medicine and rather studied management.
I untensed my posture and rolled my eyes, of all people I expected to cause something so petty like this had to be Daniel. A crybaby dude who relies on a tentacle machine to help him.
“Te habías tardado en venir.” He said trying to be as threatening as he could.
“Mira, no tengo tiempo para otro de tus berrinches. Soltá al bicho y nos damos verga, vos y yo”
He held the boy high with one of his tentacles. “Agarralo entonces si pued-”
Before he could start with his rambling I shot a web at the boy, dragging him strongly and the grip of the tentacle giving off easily. He flew towards me and managed to catch him and put him aside. Then runned towards Daniel.
He stood in place, angry and shooting his arms towards me, but not being able to catch me or even touch me. I jumped behind him and kicked his head in the air, throwing him away to the edge of the building.
“CORRE CORRE CORRE” I yelled at the kid and he ran away safely.
Daniel tried to grab the edge to not fall. “¡TE VOY A MATAR!” His tentacles helped him get back up, standing still on the edge with an enraged expression.
“¿No te cansas de que te haga mierda? Porque ya das pena, maje.” I replied smiling confidently and taking a fight stance.
“¿Ah si? ¿YO DOY PENA? ¡A VER COMO TERMINAS SI TE ENFRENTAS A DOS!” He let out a creepy ear to ear grin and took out a gun from his pocket, shooting at the sky.
I heard some movements bellow and jumped as soon as the floor caved in, and while in the air I saw what looked another man with similar tentacles… with some of those tentacles glitching out
Oh no…
I landed on the wall of the apartment next to it, trying to think how the fuck was I supposed to deal with two of them. I instinctively touched my arm to reach my watch… FUCK I LEFT IT AT HOME.
“Is that the “spiderman” you said is giving you trouble?” The man walked (or well, his tentacles moved him) towards Daniel.
“Yes, it's that one.” He replied while still grinning like an asshole.
“Didn't knew you spoke english, dipshit. I guess you’re not that much of a pendejo.”
“You think you’re so great and powerful, but I know you’re just a little bitch, and I will be glad to see you DIE.” He launched himself towards me, some of his tentacles ready to impale me.
But I know Daniel’s movements and machinery, he is still slow so I avoided it easily.
“GOT IT.” And suddenly I was grabbed by one of the other dude’s tentacles, shit shit shit.
I tried to move my leg to burn the tentacle, letting myself free for a moment before both my arms were grabbed from behind.
“FUCK” I began to throw kicks but it was impossible.
Daniel’s laugh began to sound more and more maniacally as he approached. “AHORA SÍ. PREPÁRATE PARA MI VENGANZA.”
He prepared his tentacles, savoring the panic I had and how “finally” he had me there.
“THINK FAST” A familiar voice came from nowhere, Hobie!
“¿Qué?” Daniel looked to the side and his face was greeted by the slam of an electric guitar, launching him away from the scene and this time falling to the ground unconsciously.
“HOBIE!” I greeted him smiling… Thank god he got here.
“Someone told me you need some help, didn't think it was actually for a fight.”
The other tentacle dude tried to move me away, using the free tentacles to try to grab Hobie.
But as he tried he kept glitching, missing Hobie as he broke the ones keeping me captive.
“Are they both from here?”
“No, the old one is from a different one.”
He handed me one of the traps. “I’ll distract him, go get it.”
We both nodded and ran towards him, Hobie making sure he was looking at him as I slid the trap, stopping right below him and capturing him as he slammed himself from side to side, trying to escape it and failing.
I fell to my knees to breathe as Hobie called Jess to come get the anomaly. I couldn't hear anything but the beat of my heart pulsating in my ears realizing I could’ve almost ended up badly injured.
“You ok?” Hobie got closer, helping me get on my feet.
“Yeah… I just need.. to breathe…” I coughed a little.
“I guess I got on time, innit?”
“You did… you did…” I took a deep breath. “Thank you bro.” I weakly fistbumped with him.
“By the way.” He took out something from his jacket. “You left this at your house.” He handed it to me and I put it on.
“Yeah… I had to leave in a hurry to help.”
Hobie put his hands on his jacket. “So. What did Miguel do to you?”
“Huh?” The question took me off guard.
“Did he hurt you?” He asked with some worry.
“No, nothing happened.” I lied.
A portal opened behind us.
“Speak of the devil.” Hobie said when Miguel came out from it.
I immediately moved to where Hobie was, I'm still not in the mood to talk to Miguel.
“How are you feeling?”
“Like shit.” I crossed my arms. “I couldn't get my rest and had to jump over here.” I took off my mask, breathing a little better.
“I can imagine that.”
“I’ll go get some sleep th-”
“Rox.” Miguel called me from behind… goddammit.
I sighed with my eyes closed, turning around slowly to meet him getting closer.
“I need you to come over with me.” He said with a serious voice. “Right now.”
I nodded sideways with my head “Ok.”
He guided me aside, away from the others until he stopped.
“Are you injured?” Was the first thing that came out of his mouth. “I tried calling you and you did not answer.”
I bit my tongue, trying hard not to slap him. The hell was he now worried for?
“Oh, so NOW you want to talk? I thought you said we are not friends.”
“I-” He paused himself, unsure on what to say. Put his hands on his hips and locked eyes with me. “I’m sorry.” The words finally left his lips, feeling like it took a lot of him to say it.
“You’re sorry?”
“I'm sorry for saying that. That’s not what I meant to say back there.”
“So what? You explode at anybody that interrupts your work?”
“Rox, listen to me.”
“I am listening! Tell me the fucking reason already.”
“I didn't want you to know that I…”
“...¿Aja?”
“...That I often spy on you, to protect you.” He said almost in a whisper, like if he admitted defeat.
“Miguel what the fuck are you even sayi-”
He lifted his finger, singing me to wait a moment. “I care. About you.” He continued “And I do not want anything bad to happen to you. So I got worried when you didnt answer.”
“Then why hurt me when I tried to be nice?!”
“Because I know I shouldn't care too much about you. Or anybody.”
I could not believe what he was saying, I took a moment to just stare at him blinking confused.
“Ok Ok. Para un momento.” I placed some fingers on my forehead. “So you’re telling me you basically got scared that I caught you spying on me and hurt my feelings after I tried to socialize with you because you don't think we should care about the other too much?”
He nodded looking sideways, now avoiding my gaze.
“Miguel. Nothing bad is going to happen if we get along. Or even if you get along with anybody else.”
“I know it will.”
“You don't.” I snapped my fingers. “Look at me.” He turned his head to meet my eyes, his expression being the saddest I’ve seen this man, but still frowning and trying to keep his tough guy facade. “Nothing bad is going to happen. We all got eachothers back, remember? You were the one who said that to me.”
“I’m done talking about my feelings for today” He walked past me, stopping for a moment. “...Come to my lab later, please.” He said in a gentler voice, leaving to guide the others on where the bad guy had to stay.
I… was confused. Miguel's words resonated in my mind while I tried to make sense of his already messy way of expressing himself.
Did he want to see me again? By what he said it looks like he does, but why is he so hesitant to tell me what he wants?
He doesn't hesitate when he wants people to leave him alone and certainly is not hesitant to act like a bitch…
This man truly is a whole mess… and yet I find him intriguing and interesting… but so fucking annoying.
I arrived at the HQ some hours later after showering and buying some food that I may or may not be bringing to share with him and try one more time, I know, I know. I'm a clown for even accepting his apologies.
After all, he said he wanted me to go to his lab, right? I should not feel unsure, but yet I do.
I got inside his lab and walked up to where Miguel was, and I found him sitting on the same floating chair I see him sleep in sometimes.
"¿Miguel?" He turned his head around, taking off some reading glasses he had on.
"Pensé que no vendrías."
"Me quería bañar antes… y también traje comida."
"Ya veo." He glanced at the plastic bag in my hand
"¿Vos ya comiste?"
"No, he estado trabajando.”
I shot a web to impulse me onto his platform, surprising him but doing nothing nonetheless.
"Queres… ¿Comer juntos? Creo que traje comida de sobra para una sola persona."
"Guardala para despues" He said without looking at me, I stood in silence… this man really is dense in these things, huh?
"Miguel, compre suficiente para dos"
"...Entonces quédate lo otro y cómetelo mañana."
I grabbed him by the chin, forcing him to look at me.
“Maje, compre dos platos de comida iguales a propósito para compartirlo con vos porque quería mostrarte que si quiero hacer las paces por tercera vez y ser amistoso con vos. Ahora, ¿Vas a comer o no pendejo?”
"Pudiste haber dicho eso desde el inicio" He said standing up and his platform started going down.
After he did so I placed the plastic plates for the both of us in one of the many tables he had around, waiting for him to stop checking some stuff in his lab.
"Se me olvido preguntarte si te gusta el pollo."
"No me molesta." He replied, still checking a machine.
"...¿Tas bien?"
He placed his hands on his hips trying not to get mad. "Things have gotten missing around here, parts of the machines and other stuff."
"That's… actually weird, who else was allowed to get in here?"
"You, Jessica, Peter and me." He finally sat down looking at the takeaway plate.
I opened mine showing my panes con pollo and taking one of the two out. "Son panes con pollo de mi ciuda. No creo que te vayan a hacer daño."
Miguel opened it in a similar way and grabbed one. "¿Como un sandwich?"
"Mhm" I took some bites and smiled unconsciously. These are so good… I would moan out loud if I was alone.
Miguel took a bite and that's when I saw his fangs more clearer, and by each bite he took I could only imagine him biting m-
"It's very tasty." He lifted his eyebrows in surprise. What? Did he not expect them to be good? "Do you eat these frequently?"
"Only for special occasions." I gave him a sincere smile, almost not noticing the crease in his lips letting a short smile form.
After some more bites I noticed Miguel had some sauce on his cheek, one he hadn't noticed. I searched for napkins but the lady didn't give me any.
"Miguel, you have sauce on your face."
"Hm? Where?"
I signed to the place on my own cheek, he wiped it with his thumb and licked it in a way I could say felt very erotic, but still missing one of the parts.
"You still have some on your cheek, Miguel." I reached nearby, wiping it away gently, with him almost paralyzed unsure of what I could do. "There."
"Thanks."
"You're welcome."
I like to believe Miguel was ready for me to take the chance and slap him, but why would I? I mean, I DO have reasons to do so, but I appreciate the fact that he tried to explain to me why he was so hesitant to be near me… which reminds me:
"Hey, Miguel." I called for his attention. "How… are you feeling? After what happened in my universe?"
"I'm not good at talking about it."
"I noticed." I tried to not sound sarcastic. "But do you feel a little better?"
"I feel less stressed." He confessed. "I still feel stressed about everything, but at least this won't be an issue."
"You see?"
"I will only ask you to not say anything that we speak here with the others. I will spend time with you, not with them."
"So basically our little secret?"
"...Why do you have to say it like that?"
I let out a playful laugh. "Just messing with ya."
"Yeah, you tend to be very messy."
"El comal le dice a la olla, take a look at your own cuchitril."
"Fair" He finished eating and closed the lid of his takeout plate. "Thank you for the sandwich-"
"Pan con pollo."
"Pan con pollo, eso." He continued. "I also want to thank you for the other food earlier."
"Oh? You did eat them?"
"They were…very oily. But really good."
"I'm glad you enjoyed them then." I finished mine as well.
"Do you tend to share food with everyone?" He changed the subject, I guess now it's my turn to answer questions.
"I… like to give stuff to people. Food or little thingies that remind me of them, and so"
"I see…" He saw me let out a short yawn. "You should get some rest."
"I'm fine, don't worry." I said stretching my arms up. "I can handle being awake for a couple more hours… although you look like you may need some rest yourself."
"I'm fine. I tend to not sleep that much."
"Aaand that is bad for you, Miguel."
"I say the same for you."
"Oh no, I do sleep." I crossed my arms. "I may go to sleep very late but that's why I tend to wake up extra late."
Miguel got up. "I still have work to do, so I don't have time to sleep."
"Need some help?"
"No, I'm fine."
"Actually we could use your help Rox." Layla popped out.
Miguel tried to shush her. "I can do it on my own."
"We need you to check the cameras on an anomaly we're surveilling!"
"Oh what is it?"
"It's nothing, go get your rest, Rox."
I got up and stretched a little more while Miguel argued with Layla.
"Ok I'll do it."
"You don't have to."
"Friends help friends, right?" I walked past him, jumping onto his platform while Layla explained the layout of the screens to me.
