Sticks & Stones...
I'm sure we've all heard the phrase, "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me". Little kids learn it to counteract mean words said at playtime. It seems logical, physical harm should hurt more than words, but I think we all know from experience, that's just not true.
I didn't want to address this. I learned years ago in this fandom that if you address drama or anons it never ends well. However, I feel like this has to be said not necessarily for me, but maybe for younger me who wasn't as strong.
I received an anon that told me to kill myself because they didn't like a fic I wrote (I guess). I deleted the message because it's not worth my time. But those words are so hurtful. I thought back to younger me. Middle school me. High school me. Even early college me... I don't think that version of me would be strong enough to delete that message.
That version of me would hold onto it, perseverate on it, and those words would swirl in my mind and the anxiety and depression would tell me that's what people think. That's what you should do. I know logically that's stupid and it's an anon, delete and move on. But mentally, I wasn't strong enough...
I know that version of me is not alone. I know there are people in this fandom who struggle daily with their mental health. I know how hard it is for them. I can't imagine one of them getting a message like that.
Using language that promotes harm, like telling someone to "kill yourself," is harmful in so many ways. Whether you actually mean it and think that person should die, or you think it's just a phrase you say when you're angry, bored, or wanting to start drama, it's not okay. I'd love to say choose kindness and don't send any hate but I know that's not the world we live in.
However phrases like "kill yourself" are beyond the line. You cannot predict the mental state of the person you're sending it to. How would you actually feel if that person went through with it? What if their death is on your hands? Would you be okay with that? Would you be okay if the police came to your door and said you led to that person's death? (Don't think that happens? It does, the state police and FBI do investigate digital threats. I know because I work with kids who make and receive threats and have had to deal with the FBI investigating them... and anon doesn't matter the FBI will track the IP address). I don't want that for anyone here. So please, choose your words wisely.
If you are in a bad place and lashing out is all you have, come talk to me or someone else in this fandom. I know that it is hurt people that hurt other people. I know if you are sending words like that you've been hurt. Let's break the cycle together!
This post is not targeted toward any one person. Yes, it was motivated by the anon I got, but I really hope that anyone who has ever used that phrase might read this and take it to heart.
Please choose kindness or nothing at all. Our fandom is small enough. I don't want to see other people leave because they feel pushed out or leave because they did something they can't take back.
Oh, and to anyone who has received harmful words like that. You are not alone. You can come to me or others to talk. Please don't believe those words. You are stronger and better than that!
I'm not sure how to end this so, here is a cute picture:

Hi!! I don't want to bother you again, but I wish you could know that I made this little art for your story. I wish you love 🖤
There is no need for you to answer this, of course.
Heyyy! I'm really sorry for the late reply. Apparently, my notifications have been turned off, so i've only found your message now, entirely by accident!
I cannot express how grateful I am for your work. ngl, it's incredibly flattering for any author to know that people not only read and like your fic, but also get inspired by it. Thank you so much for your amazing work! 🥰😘

while im at it neopronoun opposition is weird to me as a swedish person.. the whole debate is so anglocentric that they assume every language landed on the same solution they did, to reuse a plural pronoun as a gender neutral one and then they think any other solution is absurd or unheard of. what do you mean you just made another pronoun up you cant do that!! etc
coz its like here in the 2014 the swedish academy accepted 3rd person pronoun "hen" (as opposed to hon/han) like officially into our word list after it gained some popularity in the 2010s. like that is a NEOPRONOUN that someone just Came Up With in like the 60s and then people just started using it and now its just a recognized part of our language. sure we could've also reused our plural pronoun "de/dem" as a gender neutral one but we just made up a new one instead. and to like imply that mainstream use of a neopronoun is just UNHEARD OF and that neopronouns is something the mainstream could NEVER GET USED TO EVER!!! is... your perspective is very limited to the english speaking world is all i can say

I don't normally post this kind of thing, but Charlize Theron's comments this week about how Afrikaans is spoken by 'maybe 44 people' are both harmful and uninformed, and a clear indication that she is severely out of touch with South Africa.
I am not one of those South Africans who milks a celebrity's association with my country (like Charlize, as well as Dave Matthews, Elon Musk (yeeugh no thanks), and even Tolkien).
But, because misinformation about my country is so prevalent, when someone has an opportunity to correct the rhetoric being punted and they fail, either because of their ignorance or because they just can't be bothered to get their facts right, it can be more damaging than if they said nothing at all.
Afrikaans is alive and well in SA. It's one of the three most spoken languages across all cultures and colours, and is still a requirement for any South African who wants to attend one of our universities.
Charlize, if you want to distance yourself from your culture, that's entirely your choice, but pick your words more wisely.

Dreamt of you last night
yet the memories are a blur
you didnt change, you lost your soul
wish i knew who you were
for the true sight has faded
from this bird of beauty you mutated
to the self centered monster you always were
ill walk this new parth of light
truth will always concur
your shadow of what you create, will never be how i roll
slowly forgotten as if i was never there
this is the truth of what we all made

the siesta art is making me emotional cause some of Vasco is still shrouded in shadow with machete. Even if he wants the warmth of the sun on his face he cannot have it without the warmth of machetes presence. Not to be separated just like a summers day and the shadows that follow in the evening

Ok, I get it that YOU don't like organized religion and YOU think that my rules are stupid and unnecessary and that YOU think my loopholes are dumb and stupid
But I think that my rules are interesting and that my loopholes are funky and fresh so take that

I’m honestly so scared of getting an elucien book because of the possibility of sjm ruining lucien’s character the same way she did with cassian and pretty much every other male character.I need lucien to fight back against the bad writing because if his character gets assassinated I’ll lose my mind.Pls god let lucien escape the sjm toxic mate writing 🗣️🙏.

I'm still not over this
you move into a neighbourhood, you kindly go to see the grandpa living next to you
he opens the door with "So what do you think about vampires???"
because he f*cks 500yo unholy twinks
and needs to assess if you can stay in the neighbourhood or if you're a home delivery dinner

Hi! How are you doing? I am currently reading one of your obikin fics, Choose your words, and it is so good!!!! I love what you did with the lore. I am in love with this Obi-Wan too. I'm not done yet, they just forged their bond (ch 18) but I just wanted you to know I AM OBSESSED. Anakin's obsession, by the way, is so well written, I can't get enough. The UST is also killing me. I empathize with this poor boy.
Anyway, love what you do~. Have a great day
Thank you so much for reading and finding the time to let me know what you think! It really means a lot to me as an author. I hope you enjoyed the rest of my work and weren't disappointed by the ending🙃
btw, i'm working on another obikin story right now, and your message has given me tons of motivation to continue

Honestly, it makes me sad that some fans of the Jedi have such a strong hatred for Ahsoka because Filoni uses her as a conduit for all of his room-temp takes™️ about the Jedi. On one level I think Ahsoka is sort of the perfect character to explore the relationship O66 survivors have with their memories of the Order and I don't think taking her words as objective fact of the universe is an interesting or worthwhile interaction with them. The oft-worshipped "Lucas Canon" of the Jedi stands whether or not Ahsoka is written as "critical" of the Jedi. It's a closed circuit, and the other stuff does not hold the same weight.
On the other level I think hating a fictional character—which is to say, nothing more than words on a page spoken by an actor and animated/costumed by artists—to the point of posting long-winded takedowns of them for anything is just plain childish and not really worth anyone's time? It takes a lot of sustained anger to write 1,500 word rants about some guy that doesn't exist. IMO it's "get a new hobby" levels of sustained anger.
Ahsoka is interesting to me as both a solemn devotee of the teachings of her childhood and as a bitter, traumatized survivor trying to reconcile her need to pass on these teachings with the narrative she made for herself to "explain" what is ultimately a senseless genocide. If you don't agree, cool! Take a deep breath and go play with the figurines of the characters you do like. It's a free country, y'all.

Your life isn't a to-do list. You're allowed to exist, to take life as slow as you'd like. The dreams you have won't suddenly disappear. It's okay to stop and smell the roses, or to engage with "childish" things, or to recover, or do what you need to.
#positivity#encouraging words#life doesn't need to be a speedrun or a 100% run#sometimes it feels like i'm wasting my life but... who gets to tell me what is wasteful? i'm surviving out here and that's okay#and it's okay if you're also somebody who people think is 'wasting your life'#that's such a meaningless and frankly a very cruel thing to say to a person#because you'll see people call somebody's life wasteful because they're simply coping with disability/mental illness/grief/ect#it's a meaningless saying to tell somebody how YOU think they're wasting life. your life isn't a waste point-blank#we ought to be kinder to ourselves for choosing what we want/need out of our lives rather than placating to what is imposed on us...#...or the expectations we impose on ourselves#be kinder to yourself whenever you can. it's hard as hell but please choose kindness toward yourself#just something i thought about and felt like it was impirtant to me#i couldn't complete high school 'on time' because of covid and because i was in crisis. i felt so much shame about that. i felt stupid...#...i felt unworthy. but who decided that i am those things? the crisis i was in could have killed me. i couldn't deal with school then...#...it humbled me because i had to learn that i am not immune to needing to be kind to myself. i am human - i'm not a mindless drone...#...you aren't a mindless drone either. you are an individual. you deserve to feel safe. you deserve understanding and compassion...#...but not ONLY from others. you deserve it from yourself as well
