Theotokos of the Don (Version 2)
This is just a revised version of my older icon with a new background.
This is the Don (or Donskoy) Icon of the Mother of God, the one I have a personal copy of. According to Tradition, the Don Cossacks gave this wonderworking Icon to their commander, Great Prince Demetrius of the Don, on the day of the Battle of Kulikovo on the banks of the Don river and the Tatar army was defeated! In commemoration of this victory, the Icon was given the name 'of the Don'.
The Icon dates to the years 1380-1395, and is attributed to the icon-painter Theophanes the Greek or an artist of his circle. The Icon is two-sided, with the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos depicted on its back.
The Don Icon is now housed in the Tretyakov Gallery. Every year, on the Feast Day of the Icon, it is delivered to the Donskoy Monastery to take part in the festive Divine liturgy.
Most Holy Theotokos, save us!

The Miracles of Antichrist by Selma Lagerlöf
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Miracles of Antichrist The Miracles of Antichrist is a novel by Selma Lagerlöf. I posted another book by her last week: Christ Legends. The Miracles of Antichrist was first published in Sweden in 1897 and two years later translated into English.  The book is the third Selma Lagerlöf wrote. While most of Lagerlöfs writing takes place in her home county of Värmland, Sweden, this one takes place in Sicily. Lagerlöf visited Sicily, and the story goes that a local legend about a replaced statue of the Christ child inspired her to write The Miracles of Antichrist. Download the book here (400 pages):

 The Miracles of Antichrist
About the book
"The Miracles of Antichrist" is set in Sicily, Italy, and its narrative is woven around the social and political issues of the time, particularly the burgeoning socialist movements and the societal conditions that fueled such ideologies. The story juxtaposes religious and moral themes with social commentary, examining the lives of peasants, the influence of the church, and the various forces seeking to inspire change in a traditional society. The socialist reformer Salvatore The plot centers around a socialist reformer, named Salvatore, who strives to improve the dire conditions of the local peasants. His impassioned pleas and seemingly miraculous healing powers earn him the adoration of the masses, leading some to regard him as a Christ-like figure. However, others become wary of his growing influence and begin to refer to him as the "Antichrist," fearing that his revolutionary ideas threaten the established social and religious order. A significant character in the story is a young girl named Donna Micaela, who finds herself torn between her aristocratic background and her sympathy for the plight of the impoverished workers. Her internal conflict symbolizes the broader struggle within society between maintaining traditional structures and embracing new social paradigms. Throughout the novel, Lagerlöf delves into complex themes such as faith, revolution, the nature of miracles, and the human capacity for both good and evil. She challenges her characters—and by extension, her readers—to consider the true meaning of salvation and the societal implications of blind faith versus social action. The book's nuanced exploration of these themes offers a timeless reflection on how individual beliefs and societal forces can intersect and impact the course of communities and history. I have been posting old posts on Advent that pop up in my memories, but I also wanted to share the link on my blog to the several series I have written over the past few years for the season. Due to school, family losses, and other circumstances, I am not able to write anything new, so enjoy the old ones     https://pipergreen.blogspot.com/p/advent-theology-of-thanksgiving.html  #PipersPen   #pipergreenwriter  #theologos  #theologosministries #Theology  #Theologyofthanksgiving #theologygirl  #theologymatters  #pilgrimscrossing  #prayer #Bible  #TheWord #Christ #Savior #Lord #Redeemer  #ChristtheCreator  #christchild #GodwasinChrist  #Incarnation  #prophecyfulfilled #Oldtestament  #NewTestament #Christiscome #Christmas #OHolynight #wordlife  #readinglife #PhDlife #lifeofthemind  (at Black Forest, Colorado) https://www.instagram.com/p/Cl2CzyxuOd4/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

I love the Christchild theory for S3 but here’s my take on it
If the Christchild is a thing in season 3, similar to Season 1, I don’t think it would be Crowley and Aziraphale raising it. as much as I’d love to see some domestic ‘Ineffable Parents’ action, I actually think Crowley would end up taking care of the Christchild on his own
Unlike the antichrist, I feel like the Christchild was meant to be raised in heaven rather than on earth (I assume hell had done that with the antichrist because no one was willing or able to care for a partly human child)
So maybe Aziraphale tries to avoid the second coming by secretly bringing the child to Crowleys Bentley or something happens up in heaven causing it to just happen anyway
But I feel like it would be a bit out of place to have an entire season dedicated to the both of them raising the Christchild after everything that happened

How did the apostles react to trans-Christchild?
Most were accepting. Peter denied them a few times but ultimately repented. Thomas was scared of them, but it had nothing to do with being trans (see: Infancy Gospel of Thomas).
And Paul? Oof. If you knew how Paul viewed women, you'd know there's a joke about gender-affirming misogyny somewhere in there.

Instructions For A Wake
Venerate my demise
Venerate me at my demise
Whether I was a miser hard on dimes
A master charmer fixed on dames
A mixer and hod carrier fixing Dame Street
Bury me like I was a king
Abounding fires let girdle the spot
Vile earth in paces measured
Payments eclipse my sightless eyes boatman’s tithe
Sticks in the ground and oil rags wound round holding the fires
Styx underground, fourth of five rivers which heard Orpheus’ lyres
Bury me and feast merrily, blossoms garland and berries, mead and meat
Mete out portion, meet old friends, apportion out my demesne
My domain is not here anymore but some sense of me remains
Called to this event at which I am the Main
Like a shaved lion remanes, I will regrow and recome.
Bury me like I was a saint, next to a saint
Let my cot be vile but let not earthly doings taint
What should be a splendrous, wondrous affair;
Have it like a fair with attractions and abundant chortling.
When the christchild comes with his pounding angeldrums
When Eden’s feeding rivers dry. Sounds out an eerie ceaseless thrum
Saints will spring up fully formed, and those proximed have life given
Cordon off a place for me, make sure the ground be six feet riven
With myroblytes and bilocators, I’ll await the Son arisen.

The Holy Child of Atocha (Santo Niño de Atocha)
13th century
Feast Day: December 25
Patronage: Mexico, children, pilgrims, prisoners, travelers
The devotion to the Holy Infant of Atocha originated in Spain during the Muslim invasion. In Atocha, the Moors kept the Catholic men imprisoned and would only allow children 12 and under to bring them food and drink. After fervent prayer from families of the town to the Mother of God under the title of Our Lady of Atocha, a child pilgrim miraculously appeared bringing a basket of food and a gourd filled with drink to the prisoners that never emptied. The townspeople realized that it was the Child Jesus. In the church, the shoes of the Infant in the statue of Our Lady of Atocha were worn and dusty. Each time the village women replaced them, they found them worn and dusty again.

Our Lady of the Don
This is a redraw of one of the first icons I made about a year ago. I feel that I have greatly improved.
This is the Don (or Donskoy) Icon of the Mother of God, the one I have a personal copy of.

Celebrating the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord "Today’s Liturgy shows Jesus who goes out to meet his people. It is the feast day of encounter: the newness of the Child encounters the tradition of the temple; the promise finds fulfilment; young Mary and Joseph encounter the elderly Simeon and Anna. Everything, therefore, meets as Jesus arrives. What does this mean for us? Above all, that we too are called to welcome Jesus who comes to meet us. To encounter him: the God of life is to be encountered every day of our lives; not now and then, but every day. To follow Jesus is not a decision taken once and for all, it is a daily choice. And we do not meet the Lord virtually, but directly, we encounter him in our lives, in the concreteness of life. Otherwise, Jesus becomes only a nice memory of the past. When we welcome him as the Lord of life, however, as the centre and the beating heart of everything, then he is alive and lives anew in us. And what happened in the temple also happens to us: around him everything meets, and life becomes harmonious. With Jesus we find again the courage to carry on and the strength to remain firm." - Pope Francis Download #LectioDivina for February in PDF, ePub and Mobi formats at https://carmelites.org.au/lectiodivina #feast #presentationofthelord #jesus #christ #holyfamily #liturgy #icon #sacredart #catholic #christianity #scripture #gospel #prayer #faith #spirituality #kingdomofgod #saint #christchild #inspirationalquotes #popefrancis #melbournecatholic #virginmary #saintjoseph #peace #hope #love #courage #mission https://www.instagram.com/p/CZbNVC-AG9c/?utm_medium=tumblr
