Featuring the return of erotic food eating, so many dating cliches, Zuko desperately trying not to third wheel, Sokka and Suki realizing they haven't had to pick someone up since they were 16, and one very eventful night swim.

[“…Xi’s Noodle House was good,” Zuko says again, slowly, inner flame slippery with uncertainty as he tries to figure out what it really feels like they’re both trying to signal him to do. He’d assume give them space, since they’re on a date, except— “So good,” Suki echoes, her hand on his bicep. “So great,” Sokka agrees, eyes fixed on his face. —it really doesn’t feel like that.] OR, Zuko doesn't understand how he suddenly got so bad at noticing when Sokka and Suki want some private time. Sokka and Suki don't understand why Zuko keeps sprinting away from their attempts at dates. (Five times Zuko thinks he's third wheeling and one time he really, really isn't.)

“You got me a charm?” James whispers, cradling the box between his palms. Regulus nods.

James removes the lid from the box as if opening a case enclosing a precious jewel. Red tissue paper is taken apart by steady fingers to reveal a golden Leo constellation with stars of white diamond. It gleams in the starlight, with the Regulus star particularly bright due to its enhanced design.

James releases a soft, “Oh,” and picks it up with care, turning it over at eye level.

“Regulus, this is…”

Too much? Too soon? Too expensive?

“...beautiful. It’s beautiful.” James sets the charm back down in its box, patting it for good measure, and takes off his charm bracelet. “Would you help me put it on?”

While we’re all talking about things we loved about the show I’m gonna talk about Locklyle (for the millionth time) but like they just did it so well.

Like the books are middle grade but they came out a bit ago and the fans have aged up and this show I think captured just the right amount of maturity for the original fan base without making it too much for the current one.

You can especially see it the way they handled Locklyle. It’s very subtle in the books with a lot of subtext which makes a lot of sense for the demographic the books are for. But as someone who’s been a longtime fan it was so nice to see the show be a bit more obvious with it. Like it felt so rewarding. I wouldn’t ever want to change the books to add more romance but I was loving it in the show and I was so ready to see how it played out.

I've got a headcanon of jamie having problems with food, not an eating disorder, but some kind of issues. Between his autistic coding (flappy hands et al) and the food behaviours which can come with that, and his growing up poor (council estate) and the strict nutrition plan he's on for football, I just see him as having a limited diet and some issues around trying new foods.

I can definitely see that! Like when he's little, Georgie finds a handful of foods that a) Jamie can eat b) she can afford and c) he can prepare on his own if necessary, and then just never really has the time or money to try expanding beyond that since she likely wouldn't be able to afford to replace anything Jamie hadn't tried before if it turned out he couldn't eat it.

So his first consistent encounter with new foods would probably be from school lunches — I don't really know how the football academy system works, but I assume the meals they eat on campus/at training are based around some kind of meal plan guidelines — and staying over or living with his dad. James seems like he would both have very strong opinions about what Jamie should and shouldn't be eating for football (likely without any scientific basis) and be a "suck it up and eat it anyway" type of parent when it comes to sensory issues, which is obviously a pretty terrible combination.

I could see pre-teen/teenage Jamie developing a relationship with food where stuff on his meal plan falls into the narrow category of both providing the necessary nutrients for football and not triggering his sensory issues, while anything outside of that is automatically unappealing because he's never really had the experience of being able to try a bit of something, find that he hates it, and not have to finish eating it anyway. Which could also contribute to his difficulty eating during his 3x11 depression spiral, as the prospect of seeing his dad again might bring up some of those negative associations with food and (at least for me) stress tends to worsen sensory issues.

So I've been on a little hiatus recently because I was dealing with someone anon hate and real life things...but I'm mostly back! And this is something I've been working on with @whenshereads for a little bit now and it's finally finished and posted! All the credit should go to her for the idea. This was super fun to write and work together on!

TK is determined to give Carlos the homecoming he deserves. As always, life has other plans, and TK and Carlos have each other.

TK is no stranger to the ebbs and flows of grief, but watching Carlos navigate it is particularly challenging. The day-to-day things are always the hardest, where he recognizes the struggle of handling life in between the emotions.

Before, Carlos was an early riser. He had a schedule for when they went to the market and cleaned different areas of the loft. He would tidy up after TK, who tended to leave mail and shoes and jackets in random locations. He and TK would work in tandem to make meals and get them packed and ready for the week. He read his magazines and watched home improvement shows and enjoyed hosting game nights whenever the 126’s schedules aligned.

After, Carlos doesn’t sleep much, only closes his eyes for a few restless hours, usually on the couch. He opts to spend time with his mother or on the computer and forgets about food or cleaning, occasionally snacking on the provisions TK leaves for him. He takes the food to work that TK makes for him when he goes back on part-time desk duty. There is a pile of magazines left forgotten on the coffee table and the TV stays on the VCR setting even though TK took the tape.

Essek’s lip being tugged further into his mouth, the single point of one white fang catching in the light against inky-violet skin. Caleb takes him all in and swallows. Thickly. ---- Long, dexterous fingers slowly slip inside him. Essek bites down on his lip to stifle a moan, his grip on the book tightening as he tries to settle the quaking in his hands. The two digits slide in and out with ease and his cheeks burn when he realizes he can hear it. The unmistakable slick sounds of sex fill the quiet. Caleb is less than fifteen feet away; can he hear it too? What would Caleb do to him if he found out?

Written for our dear friend @mllekurtz's birthday, these two fics were created from an incredible prompt and developed in collaboration with my co-author. For all he knows, this whole thing is just a very convenient rebound for a lost boy running from a future he never asked for. And if that’s the case, James will learn to make peace with it. Regulus keeping him at arm's length is still Regulus keeping him. He does not know how to ask for more.

“I’ll look after him,” James promises, maintaining eye contact with Regulus as he speaks. Maybe he imagines it, but he could swear Regulus’ face softens at the words. Maybe the life James has been yearning for isn’t so out of reach at all.
