Solar Cannon - CR8 Construct

Here’s a very low resolution but still much clearer piece of artwork.

The Solar Cannon (sometimes mistranslated as Soul Cannon) is a Final Fantasy 5 boss that, in the original game, is attached to the front of a giant flying fortress. When the player defeats it in that game, it explodes, and then it’s possible enter the fortress afterwards by going in through the hole left where it was. Maybe that gives you some ideas for how to use this thing in your campaign.

The original version of this boss in Final Fantasy 5 is very weird in that nearly all of the damage it deals is either half of the target’s current HP or half of the target’s max HP, and also for some reason it fires ballistic missiles that make the target rapidly age. The percentage-based damage doesn’t make a lot of sense in Pathfinder, and the aging doesn’t make a lot of sense in general, so this is very much a reimagining of this boss rather than a direct conversion - although that’s true of nearly all of my bosses.

Because the wave cannon ability is usable a limited number of times per day, a Solar Cannon waits to begin preparing its wave cannon until it detects an enemy and enters initiative. This results in a countdown until it annihilates the player party.

Its Solar Launchers are included in its challenge rating, like animal companions or eidolons.

SPECIAL ABILITIES

Magitek Resilience (Su) A solar cannon gains a deflection bonus to AC and a resistance bonus to all saving throws equal to half its hit dice. These bonuses are already included in its statistics.

Prepare Wave Cannon (Ex) As a standard action, as long as it has at least one daily use of Wave Cannon remaining, a solar cannon can prepare its Wave Cannon, gaining one preparation step. It must do so six times, gaining a total of six preparation steps, before its Wave Cannon actually becomes usable. When it prepares its Wave Cannon, a recording of one of the follow six messages (usually in Common) is transmitted loudly from the solar cannon:

When gaining preparation step 1: “DIFFUSION BEAM CANNON: ONLINE”

When gaining preparation step 2: “LASER CROSSHAIR BRIGHTNESS: 20″

When gaining preparation step 3: “SAFETY LOCK: ONLINE”

When gaining preparation step 4: “BARREL PRESSURE RISING”

When gaining preparation step 5: “BLAST SHIELDING: ACTIVATED”

When gaining preparation step 6: “ENERGY CELLS: 128% CAPACITY”

After a solar cannon has used Wave Cannon, it loses 3 preparation steps. 2 minutes after it gains its first preparation step, a solar cannon loses all preparation steps, loses one of its daily uses of Wave Cannon (if any remain), and must start this process over.

Repair Launchers (Su) Once per day as a move action, a solar cannon can restore 20 hit points to both of its launchers, even returning them from a destroyed state. If a solar cannon uses its Wave Cannon ability, it regains its daily use of this ability.

Solar Beam (Ex) Once every 1d3 rounds, as a standard action, a solar cannon can fire a solar beam as a ranged touch attack, dealing 5d6 force damage. This attack has a 50 ft. range increment and a maximum range of 500 ft. This attack is powered by sunlight, and deals 50% additional damage to creatures that are particularly vulnerable to sunlight. If the solar cannon is not in an area of sunlight, this attack does not recharge after being used, and cannot be used again until the solar cannon has been in direct sunlight for 1d3 rounds.

Solar Launchers (Ex) A solar cannon controls two solar launchers, which are smaller constructs attached to it.

A solar launcher cannot move, and is permanently affixed to the side or top of the solar cannon. It moves automatically when the solar cannon moves. A solar cannon can rotate and reconfigure its machinery as a free action to move a solar launcher to a different space that is adjacent to the solar cannon; this movement does not provoke attacks of opportunity. A solar launcher cannot otherwise be moved by any creature, except by moving the solar cannon.

Wave Cannon (Ex) Ten times per day, when it has six preparation steps (see Prepare Wave Cannon, above), a solar cannon can fire its wave cannon in a 500 foot line that is 15 feet wide, dealing 8d8+30 force damage and 8 bleed damage to all targets within the area of effect. Creatures within the area can make a DC 25 Reflex save to halve both the force damage and the bleed damage.

After using Wave Cannon, a solar cannon loses three preparation steps.

This missile is a homing projectile that can go around corners, and ignores cover and concealment, as long as there is some path to the target, and the total length of the path is no further than 120 feet.

On a direct hit, this missile deals 2d6 bludgeoning and piercing damage, and the target must succeed on a DC 12 Fortitude save or take 1 Strength damage and become fatigued. The Strength damage and fatigue are radiation effects. Additionally, the attack deals 1d6 bludgeoning and piercing splash damage in a 5-foot radius.

Watched Royal Rumble 2023. My highlights (will be brief because I need to rant about that main event):

1. Not sure if it was smart play by WWE putting the men’s match first, because we forgot ALL about the winner by the end of the night.

2. Kofi botches his Rumble save for the second straight year. Yeah, it’s done. Time to end that ish for good now.

3. The minute Lesnar came out I said Lashley is coming for his ass. Glad I was proven right.

4. Rey not making it to the ring but Ex Con Dom comes out right after and has his mask. Does this make Rey Mysterio the rightful winner?

5. A Rumble spot wasted on Booker T when Mustafa Ali was right there, smh

6. Not Montez being thrown out in front of his in-laws 😭

7. I kinda wish Cody’s return had been a surprise.

8. Yoooo that spot with Logan Paul and Ricochet was something out of Dragonball Z! And I don't even watch Dragonball Z.

9. GUNTHER and Cody had a whole match within a match and it was great. Gunther is that guy. The IC champ looked like the fucking boss. So so good.

10. Very good men’s match. Wasn’t too extravagant and it worked.

11. The Pitch Black match looked like a rave I once attended when I was in England, lol.

12. Bray Wyatt is for the aesthetics and theatrical more than the actual wrestling, always has been. I don’t understand how fans were expecting a 5-star match.

13. Didn’t bother watching the Raw women’s title match. Bianca deserves better and I don’t care for Alexa Bliss being thrown back into that lame witchy storyline.

14. The women’s match wasn’t as good as the men’s, for me. It only picked up when it was down to the final three.

15. Damage CTRL looked kind of strong for once, knocking everybody out.

16. Michelle McCool with THAT body and wrestling in Uggs? 🔥

17. Yes yes yes to AsuKana, her dark outfit and the murder clown face paint. Triple H needs to run back her days of destruction at NXT.

18. Thank you WWE for changing that STUPID dew drop name back to Piper Niven.

19. Nia Jax?!?! 🙄🙄🙄 Errr, no. On top of that, her music started playing before the countdown even came on. Hot tears.

20. I don’t think Naomi will ever come back either and that makes me sad. 😢

21. The right woman won. Bianca vs Rhea at Mania will be epic, and Rhea will win.

22. The woman at No. 1 won and the man at No. 30 won. Very interesting.

23. Samantha Irvin was on her A-game with the main event intros. 🤌🏾

24. Standard good match, Roman the king of 2.9999 kick outs as usual.

25. I wondered why the match went so short. I regretted it soon enough 😭

26. Roman throwing KO by the back of his head on the jagged part of the steps TWICE! 😬😬😬😬

27. Sami cringing the whole time, and things would only get worse for him after the match ended. 🥺

28. The Bloodline brutalized KO. Steel chair and super kicks and handcuffs. Sami couldn’t take anymore and tried to beg off and ended up getting pie-faced over and over. It was then that I realized what was coming…

29. And yet, my jaw still DROPPED when Sami hit Roman with that chair! 😱 Unbelievable!

30. LOL at Roman actually looking back, wondering whether it’s 2014 all over again.

31. Jimmy though. Jimmy. Attacked Sami first. Didn’t hesitate for a second. After all the handshakes. “My dawg”. The Honorary Uce name. Smiling at Sami the whole time. He was the one who brought Sami into the group in the first place, back when Jey wanted him out.

32. And the look on his face as he attacked. Manic. Rabid. Unhinged. His viciousness stunned me initially, but then I remember what he told Roman all those weeks ago:

“Sami’s my dawg. I like Sami. But I love my family. I love the Bloodline. I love you.”

33. Solo. The hired gun, sent by the elders to do Roman’s bidding. Forgetting that he also used Sami to gaslight Jey numerous times before Roman brainwashed him.

34. Roman crying as he and the rest of the Bloodline decimated Sami pissed me off, lol. “I gave you the world! You broke my family!” What?!The audacity!

35. Jey walking away in tears legitimately made me cry. You could see 2020 flashing before his eyes; the way Roman treated Sami was the exact same way he did Jey and he has never forgotten it.

36. And now on his IG, Jey has declared war! 😳

37. LISTEN TO THIS FROM THE FANS! And watch Roman’s reaction. Dropping the petals one by one over Sami and Kevin’s grave! 😭

38. All this time, we’ve had cool heel Roman. Now we have evil heel Roman. Finally.

I have no idea where this storyline is going, but I am on their edge of my seat and will gobble it all up.

MVP - The entire Bloodline and Kevin. No debate. These boys need to go to Hollywood asap.

Charmed! 2023 Recap - (Day 2: Thursday)

As before this is an edited version of my personal therapy journal tailored for public posting. All scene names and stories included are done with permission. - This entry was half written at the con and edited for internet so there will be times where the tensing refers to events in the future and in the past. Apologies for that confusion

I slept from 1:45am-7:30am, my heart raced as the narrative of a scary dream pulled me to wakefulness.

Not the kind of heart racing I was hoping for to begin my day, alas. But the timing was *perfect*. Daja had just at that moment sent a message that she was starting her route. She was less than 5 hours away.

“Come to me.” I softly commanded, extending my presence far across the distance.

My heart ached, my lips could feel the air where they desired her lips.

“I am here, waiting for you. Come to me, my dear.”

And so the countdown begun.

I took a few moments to hug my plushie familiar who goes where I goes and come down from a dream which should not have terrified as much as it did. My boyfriend, Copper, and I were to share a coffee before he went down to the museums.

I had a coffee date! It was time to change!

While I did that my COVID test pinged negative. I grabbed a snapshot.

I maneuvered to add my gender dysphoria protection, my “chicken cutlets” but a somft voice in my head scolded me for the effort. “This is me.” It insisted.

We're going in to the con on our own esteem then? No augmentations? Good to know.

I went to grab my badge and got the 4th one. Nath, one of my metamours, was 2 spaces ahead of me so got a brief hug. Nath is a good friend, though I tend to be shy around my metamours. A little bit of that old programming from a life before keeps insisting that any love I take from a partner is taken away from their other partners and I should feel guilty about that.

Life doesn't work that way. Love doesn't work that way. But the thought persists. That's mine to deal with. I try not to burden other people with my baggage until they ask for it.

There was not enough time to do a full reunion though as Copper and I had our coffee date–

PERSONALLY CATERED BY A PANDA!

A playful and bouncy panda billing itself as "Panda Express" which is both adorable and charming.

It was so lovely! Drip coffee with a smooth flavor that lingers pleasantly!

Happy chats and calm comfort!

There was talk of plans and recounting of the prior night’s fun, including the plane ride. Hair coloring. Hopes and fantasies and the relief of feeling Seen.

I had long awaited my moment to meet with Panda and the Triad that it belonged to. I am overjoyed that it didn't disappoint.

But it had plans, Copper had a trip and there was a convention to begin!

Everyone scattered and I thought about diving into the con--- but perhaps first some weekend prep!

I was too excited to get started and went straight to outfit and mild make-up without a super grooming session. Checked my phone for the temporary GPS of Daja's car. A countdown I could follow for her arrival. She's not here. Not even close. Not yet! I couldn't begin all the fun stuff we had prepared and negotiated. The plane scene was only the start.

I couldn't do the fun stuff, but I could do a ton of ironing to save time for when I was able to enjoy things a bit more!

While I ironed I had a big conversation with my Counterpart Puppet and Sleepyhead. I got emotional about my inconsistencies and volatile personality. Started crying for no gosh darn reason for I am a silly Kitty x.x;

Sad to say this would be the first of a ton of times my emotions caught me off-guard this weekend x.x;

With ironing done there seemed to be less than an hour until the promised arrival. A morning well spent and a heart full of cheer, I moved on to greet Daja!

The original plan was to do the dommey “come to me!” moment but my heart was too explode with joy so I just glomped. Daja woke up early for me! “You’re the only Sunrise worth waking up for!”

I am squishy melty squee! So so happy!

It was a short-lived reunion as her trance card had other names on the list above mine, but she was sure to show me all the ways I would later be doomed. Mind melting VR headsets and hypnotic orange chocolate. As well as a surprise tool which we may need later.

The afternoon was fairly lowkey. I found some familiar faces in Turq and Mazirian in the common area and took some time to discuss simple things like anime and wrestling. I was introduced to some of the more flavorful acts and some of the feats of incredible strength such as picking talent up by their ankles and hammer throwing them like Miss Trunchbull. Made me think about the fact that people picking me up is one of those horseshoe things. Right on the border between ABSOLUTELY NOT red and ...please....? green...

Only one person is allowed to pick me up. I am Excalipurr.

Turq and I have a decent enough relationship as metamours. I share the same shyness with him that I work hard to conquer with Nath and Puppet. It's a shame because Turq and I have a *lot* in common. We can talk about anime/manga and focus on the classics. We enjoy wrestling, Transformers, video games and we both are quite fond of a certain lass.

Maz is someone I have had very limited contact with. We flirt online openly, which is fairly rare for me, but he is firmly in the circle of people I have marked as Trusted. He's vouched for by my Goddess, my girlfriend and is partners with one of the fleeting few connections I had with the hypnosis community in the 2000s. He's fantastic with hairplay and---

--if I may be a little self-obsessed in my self-obsessed journal? ...he makes me feel attractive. His compliments on my hair, the genuine flirting... it makes my gender dysphoria go away. I present myself as an attractive woman a lot, especially in these spaces. I don't know how he does it, but he makes my mind forget that it's something I'm presenting as. It's just something that I am.

It was nice to just enjoy some gentle social energy and try to get added to the trance card of a lovely friend who worked with me briefly at Beguiled. I also finally got to meet Glitter-Spiral who is a very important human that I have evaded meeting for 3 years worth of events.

Glitter-Spiral has not let up on complaining to Daja about the fact that I have been RIGHT THERE for all this time and we keep missing one another. It was nice to finally meet her the energy that she exudes is so bright and forceful. Sassy and flooded with color. I could see instantly why she was scheduled to teach bratting.

As I enjoyed breaking street-date and hugging GS, Turq looked at his phone and audibly responded to the message “She’s sitting right next to me and I can ask for you.” Apparently Daja asked her spouse, Turq, if she could use the room to spend some time with me.

So I rushed upstairs and we worked a little on a couple things.

Firstly, practice for the Presence class. We ran some drills on the Big Moment we had discussed as an endcap to the hypnotist side of the demonstration. Something flashy and showy that I just needed practice with and we discussed blocking for the showy end of the hypnotee segment.

I had run many of these drills over and over with Sleepy but the script was not sticking to my mind and my nerves kept me from embodying my Top Space. I kept telling myself "we'll just read the script and do it live." "Trust that performance will give you the push you need." - another case of that dysfunction where my brain cannot accurately or coherently visualize the future and so lets all that hard work and practice disintegrate.

That used to be a big issue for me when I was a coder, but that's a story for another time.

The reason I mention it is because after running those drills with Daja, I finally felt prepared. I finally think I can teach a class!

Second on the agenda was working on an amnesia suggestion which will come up later and lastly installing a kiss summon trigger– because kiss summon triggers are my thing.

Daja returned the favor by plugging me into a 20 minute custom VR session to add in a few suggestions and gently scrub perception of them away.

During the session Daja installed two suggestions, both of which I shall lose memory of the moment I finish typing, the first is that when I nuzzle her I will drop deeply into trance and the second is a return of the summoning trigger from Beguiled.

(Future Cammie edit!: I now have full memory of this. As part of my therapy I journal daily and this was written on the day. I will make notes in the text when I am typing from after the convention)

There was a point where she heavily reminded me of Goddess’ control and that no hypnosis at all would work without my collar. I was told I reached for my collar and held it as I drank in that suggestion.

The aftercare for the scene progressed and triggers were tested and promptly forgotten once more.

From here on I type from after the convention. My memories of the above session remain with me both while working on the journal, for Daja ensured I could always journal reality, no matter what my mind perceived in a hypnotic compulsion (especially if I allowed myself to forget again afterwards) - but more crucially those memories will go with me back to Minnesota.

My hope is that by typing these words they may not fade as far too many tend to.

After the wonderful scene had been completed and sweet Cammie was puddlified and programmed, we agreed that it was a good time for food. My room contained myself, Sleepyhead and Puppet. Daja's room was her and Turq. We agreed that the two rooms should be a bubble for both COVID safety and meal sharing when appropriate.

The original plan was to connect Daja and Cammie rooms so we could just Kramer in to one another’s space all weekend. I feel that may have been a benefit to all had it have happened.

Alas. We had to walk a *whole flight of stairs!* Unacceptable.

Dinner for the night was a local Italian restaurant’s pizza. For Puppet a pasta dish (which required Daja and I to run over to Oikos Prime (remote) and grab cutlery, while saying hello to my Goddess Lady Ru’etha as well as other Oikos household members Jukebox and Copper… as well as sweet Timbit, the most adorable floof in the world) Sleepy got a 14” and for Turq, Daja and I we split a 16”. Sleepyhead had AGDQ on and insisted on showing Turq the AIRBOAT run, a modded Portal run that used Half-Life 2 objects on spawn to proceed through the testing facility instead of the normal portal guns.

The meal was well enjoyed and ended with Turq heading off to mingle and Daja had some more time put aside for scenes with other partners.

I decided that if I were going to get into a headspace less puddlified and a little more casual for the night then perhaps I would need to stop wearing my Sunrise dress, which was typically used for subby bliss scenes, such as the mind melting machine.

But my Dawn outfits were booked out for later in the weekend… so I made a quick change based on my proposed Travel Day outfit:

For after brains have had time to be melted and one wants to drink coffee and see some familiar faces for no reason beyond socializing.

Socializing, as intended, was not as simple as I had assumed it would be for the majority of the time. In fact I felt quite overwhelmed. I am told that Pre-Pandemic Con Lifestyle involved a lot of group lunches and comfortable hangouts which were more accessible to making connections and melting shy exteriors. As it stood, I had a number of people do the “hey, it’s Cammie!” Moment and I never really worked out how to capitalize on it.

My own fault, really. Shyness is a crippling affectation and I cannot always be a forceful personality capable of running movie theatres or mingling on command.

But all too soon, Daja let me know that her personal jewelry commission from one of our lovely vending friends (whose I will edit in a name for if I get permission) was finished.

The commission was a blue bottle. A blue bottle because of a conversation the two of us had from when the vendors were showing off their wares.

As I typed on the final day of our last meet-up:

We did clean up. She packed away the summoning trigger and any other things which may have been picked up. I put away the blue fire, which I hadn’t intended to become a trigger, but Daja’s eager and clever brain picked up on it without hesitation. It was placed inside a glass bottle, waiting to be revealed again.

Blue Fire. The gift of perfect obedience. A trigger I had worked with in our last meeting, based on a story from the Tammy Pierce books Daja and I each love. A finger to the forehead. A magical blue fire. Then the enchanted individual would awaken having completed a single command. Whether it be as simple as climb down a tower or something unthinkable.

We had placed the magical blue fire which could melt her mind away inside a blue bottle, a reference in itself to Ocarina of Time.

We had agreed to unbottle the fire and return it on the night of the Soiree and use it to get Daja all nice and dressed up for the event while I offered her “my heart”, knowing she would return it in time. Theoretically it could be used in mingle with another scene we had that weekend, though.

Daja wanted to break street date and get to enjoy the blue flame for the entire weekend. I told her I was willing to go ahead and do that for her, but only if she was certain she wanted it.

Now, Miss Dawn is a Fae. This has been true since the days she was simply an expression of gender euphoria in tabletop scenes and LARP. She was not going to accept a simple “I’m sure” as a method of consent.

“Please, Miss Dawn. Uncork the bottle.”

You must say it of your own volition three times. Uncoerced and unbound by a fractionated mind. Say it three times and I shall uncork the bottle and unleash the spell which effortlessly bewitches your mind and engulfs you in the flame of Pure Obedience. Knowing that once that spell takes hold and melts your mind away there will not be a single thing you will not do for me when I command you under its enchantment.

“Please, Miss Dawn. Uncork the bottle.”

I lowered myself and took her arm and kissed her fiercely. Looked her in the eyes and held her gaze. I reminded her that she would act without any memory of her actions, that she would be giving me complete control of her and doing so without a long thought was simply unwise.

“Please, Miss Dawn. Uncork the bottle.”

Utilizing a previously installed trigger I commanded her to kiss me and enjoyed the moment. My fingers laced around the bottle. If she were to ask me one more time then I would be bound by my Fae Contract to comply and control her.

Was this really? Truly? Deeply desired?

“Please, Miss Dawn…”

I gave her hair a tug and looked her in the eyes.

“Please uncork the bottle.”

As you wish, my love.

What else could a Fae say when bound by a contract? I followed the pre-negotiated scene, which had some lovely amnesia laden suggestions hidden within. Because I am a tricky Fae and if the airplane ride and the MMM scene had not already proven, Daja and I studied for this test and had written a dissertation on how to make these scenes work.

I am also editorializing a little bit because I have a broken brain that doesn’t remember things and imagines things between the gaps.

“Hand me the bottle, my dear.”

And it was at this point, Daja learned that her arms were hanging loose at her side. She couldn’t reach up. She couldn’t unclasp it. If she couldn’t unclasp it she couldn’t hand it to me. If she couldn’t hand it to me, she couldn’t receive my gift of Perfect Obedience.

Daja noted her inability and I teased the chain. “I need you to offer it to me, my dear.”, my honey sweet voice taunting with my knowledge that she simply could not obey.

“Please, Miss Dawn. Please.”

Energy flowed between the pair of us and the Perfect Obedience trigger was tested. A finger to the forehead and Daja’s mind was set ablaze by blue fire. Her eyelids rolled up so beautifully and she would do *anything* I asked.

I am particularly proud of the two times I was able to show it off for an audience.

With the Obedience trigger installed and some more fun had, it was time to prepare for the morning. We were to go to Nath’s class, Daja and Tenn’s and then mine.

In order to go to mine we needed to have me ready to spend the night. So I masked up and rushed back to my room to perform the Walk Of Shame. Which I find lovely and amusing, given Nothing Was Going To Happen. But I got my pyjamas and tomorrow’s outfit and transported them to Daja’s room so I could Spend The Night. <3

I was still a lil’ bit overwhelmed and frazzled and made some silly mistakes like forgetting(?) my Precious. Precious is supposed to go with me and I forgot her!

It’s okay though. Miss had Faithful, Precious’ twin, and let me hug him while I slept…

And curled up with Miss and Faithful… I did sleep.

Ever wondered what Mission Impossible would be like if it starred Totoro, or what comic book character would be the worst to date? These are the kinds of things you'll see at Art Improv. Bonus; the sketches will be given away at the end of the panel!

From Comic Con to Kamehameha, nerds are passionate about a lot of things, but there’s one thing they love above all else, and that is correcting people- This is the Um Actually panel- the game of nerdy corrections where contestants compete to find out the King of the Nerds!

Progress Report #5 (Program Survey!!!)

Dear K/S friends,

Greetings! We hope you've had a great summer, and we especially hope you are well and unharmed by a certain pesky virus. (It made the rounds in the concom, unfortunately, which is also why there was no newsletter in August.)

And now it's September, pumpkin spice is in and on everything, and we are back with our newsletter/progress report. The countdown on the KiScon website informs us that the con is in fewer than 60 days, and it's high time to address a few important points.

1. Upcoming deadlines:

The zine deadline is now in the past, but there are so many other deadlines in the very near future!

a. Program booklet:

If you have a dealer membership and want us to include information on your fannish business (including links to your Etsy, Bigcartel, website, etc.) in the program booklet ("con book"), please get in touch asap! We offer you this advertising space as part of your membership, but we require your input for this no later than 1 October!

The same deadline applies for anything you want us to include in the con book, e.g. announcements of fic fests, fannish events, zine projects, promoting of fannish spaces and communities. Please send your submissions to larissa @ kiscon . org!

b. Goodie bag: Let's fill the digital goodie bag for our attendees! We've already talked about this in the 2nd progress report, but here's the gist: Anything that can be downloaded and shared digitally is fair game as long as it has a creative or transformative element (which simply means: no episode or movie files, no unaltered stills or publicity photos)! Here are some suggestions to get those creative juices flowing:

Want to make a podfic or filk or mixtape/playlist for the con bag? Have some cool Trek-themed crochet or sewing patterns that you would like to share? An awesome desktop or phone wallpaper or digital stickers/badges/icons that members can then use on their social media? Maybe a cool recipe for K/S cookies or a lovely manip? A link to your amazing Star Trek picrew maker? Colouring pages or printable paper dolls? Send your goodies to larissa @ kiscon . org until 1 October, please.

c. Art show / auction: We talked at length about this in the last newsletter; please see the details there. Again, 1 October is the deadline, and the relevant contact email (both for submissions and any and all questions) is: artshow @ kiscon . org. d. Vidshow: Send us your creations, lovely vidders! Deadline for vid submission (preferably by Dropbox or similar download link): 10 October, to larissa @ kiscon . org. Please use the form on the KiScon website for giving us the details (title, length, etc.) on your vids.

Premieres of all genres: these are vids that have not been published on the Internet or distributed on DVDs/tapes yet (we are lenient if the vid has been shown at a convention in the past, as long as it is not available anywhere). Vids created in or after 2020 (and unpublished) are eligible for our competition.

Classics of all genres: vids that showcase the history and rich variety of K/S and Star Trek vidding from the late 1970s to the 2010s.

Fun & danceable song vids for our Disco Night & Sing-a-Long (Saturday night): exactly what it says on the tin – upbeat vids suitable for singing along and dancing the night away!

For more details, please see the 2nd progress report. This seems also like a good opportunity to mention that there are (physical) prizes for the winners of our competitions. K/S notebooks and badges and many other delightful items are waiting for you.

2. Program Survey (open until 30 September): Which tropes are your all-time favourite? How has the portrayal of the K/S relationship changed over the years? What is the future of K/S fandom? Explore these topics and many more in our panels and discussions! We've collected your suggestions and also brainstormed many more topics, and now it's time for you to vote! This survey is meant for already registered attendees or those who plan to register for the con. Please let us know which online panels and activities you would like to see and attend at KiScon (this is not a fixed registration for individual panels, just a survey to better tailor the program to your interests!), and whether you would like to moderate/present one or more. The titles are not final – if you claim a panel and have a better title in mind, do let us know. There are a few activities (e.g. vid shows, opening ceremony, cosplay etc.) that are a fixture at KiScon, and therefore they are not part of this survey. If there is more than one mod offer per panel, we'll get you in touch with each other. If you do not see your must-have panel on this survey and think that Spock will be sad without it, please add it in the comment field at the end of the survey. Not all panels and activities will make it into the program – as much we would love a week-long con, we sadly only have a weekend. For all questions, panel tech requests, etc. – please use the comment field. Panels will be held via Zoom; if you want to offer an activity but are unsure whether you can pull it off online or whether you might need something beyond Zoom's infrastructure (e.g. for an interactive game), just drop us a line in the comment field at the end of the survey. We are happy to hear any and all ideas, and we will do our best to find solutions that work for all. Big thanks to all of you!

3. Demographic and Feedback Survey: Lillian created this survey to help the concom get a better feel of the needs and specifics of our community. Important: There are a few questions that are optional (e.g. age, gender, how did you get into K/S etc.) and if you do not want to answer them, this is totally fine. The key questions pertain to the convention itself – are there any access needs or technical barriers we should be aware of, how well informed do you feel about KiScon activities, what can we do better, etc.

We are not going to share the responses with anyone outside of the concom, and the data will only be stored until the end of the convention. 4. Pub Night Shenanigans: The last Pub Nights at the "KiScord" (KiScon Discord server) were great fun and we were excited to see/hear both new and familiar faces/voices. Some of us opted for joining the chat with video (in T'Lara's experience this makes following the conversation much easier), and some with audio only – either is fine during Pub Night. One of our games resulted in a K/S Mixtape that you can enjoy on Spotify; listen to the songs that are quintessentially Kirk/Spock for our Pub Night members. The playlist will hopefully grow in the future. Another game led us through the alphabet, this time on the hunt for tropes / tags. A big thank-you to Lillian for compiling the tropes and creating the playlist!

For the October sessions, leading up to the convention, we will dedicate a part of each gathering for addressing technical questions. We'll happily explain how to use Conline, Discord, and Zoom. If you feel uneasy about the virtual framework of this year's KiScon, here's your chance to get familiar with all the tools and platforms, and Ask All The Questions. Apart from these dates, you can always reach out to us if you need more assistance (1lostone @ kiscon . org and lillian @ kiscon . org).

5. Cosplay:

Put on your awesome costumes or uniforms for our virtual Saturday night banquet and win a prize. You can take part in the cosplay competition by either showing off your costume via Zoom during the banquet or, if you are more comfortable with this, by posting your cosplay pics (recent ones, please, not from past conventions) to the dedicated Discord channel on Friday or Saturday during the convention. This channel will only be open to registered attendees.

Cosplay is also encouraged all weekend long, for any of the panels and activities; even if each one of us attends the con while sitting in our living rooms, let's do it in Trek style. Or show off your fabulous K/S and Trek tees during our Zoom sessions.

Post per me, per farmi forza come feci ormai 3 anni fa per la maturità.

Daje A. stringi i denti per queste 2 settimane, pensa che il 4 luglio comunque vada finalmente ti sarai tolta questo esame che è diventato il tuo maggior incubo portandotelo dietro e tendendo a rimandarlo sempre più in là. Oramai non hai scelta questa è la data, entro questa data devi essere pronta per superarlo.

È solo un esame ed è il penultimo.

Ce la stai facendo.

Ogni esame dal primo che hai fatto ti sembrava impossibile da superare eppure li hai passati tutti al primo colpo e tutti alla grande.

Ora so che sei stanca, che inizi a pensare di non avere più cassetti vuoti nel cervello da riempire con queste ennesime nozioni e norme, ma metticela tutta.

Ripeto sono solo 2 settimane

Fai un countdown se ti può fare stare meglio e non farlo se ti mette più ansia di quella che hai già.

Non ti imporre di dover sapere tutto alla perfezione ma cerca di comprendere il senso di ciò che stai studiando.

E soprattutto non farti divorare dai sensi di colpa se vedi di non esserti mossa molto nello studio i primi giorni.

Devi solo trovare quello stimolo, quell'attacco e poi parti in quarta.

Lo hai fatto anche con lo scorso esame, primi giorni massimo 5 o 10 pagine e poi bam a botte di 40 alla volta.

Tranquilla riuscirai a superarlo

Non pensare che quelle sono le domande ricorrenti perché non è detto che ti chieda quelle stesse domande

Vai avanti come hai sempre fatto senza saltare nessun argomento ma senza fermarti troppo su nessuno

Piano piano anche se il tempo è poco ce la farai.

Credo in te.

Per darti la massima carica ti voglio ricordare i successi fin'ora ottenuti superando gli esami universitari:

SUMMER ACTIVITIES

as YEWON hands each of the girls their schedules for the next few weeks, she begins to tell them the first event they will be participating, “since you will be promoting at the end of july and beginning of august, you will be attending M! like mentioned before, HYEJOO and SOMIN are participating in the LEGACY x PEPSI campaign with ‘SUMMER TASTE’, so they will be working on that during this time and will be performing this in on the last day of lgc’s family concert 2k22, which is scheduled to be on SEPTEMBER 24 in SEOUL. they will also be invited to HANWOO’s ( dbsd’s siwoo & haneul ) radio show on AUGUST 10 where they will talk about their experiences as crystallis members and answer some of the fans’ letters.

since JAEHWA and SOYOUN will be busy with their schedules, they will be missing some of the promotions so the rest of the members will be singing their parts during that time. they will also have fansigns and online fan calls from AUGUST 1-5.

on AUGUST 4 ( while preparing for m!countdown ), DANBI, ICHIKA, and YURA will be visiting BAE SIWOO to give them their album. after receiving the album, SIWOO will ask the girls if they could do a dance challenge with his newest song, “THAT THAT”. the girls will then be taught a short snippet of the chorus before filming the videos.

Seeing that countdown gave me anxiety lol I didn’t know it was so close? I have less time than I thought.

Anyway, after planning on it all day yesterday, going to sleep knowing that I had to do it, and then spending 4 hours being anxious about it, I finally made it to the post office to mail some post cards and Valentine-type things to people today. (Why is mailing stuff so hard now? Different stamps for differently shaped envelopes?? Square vs. rectangular? Was it always like this?? I feel like I didn’t go through all this in Europe or Korea? Please let me know??)

Anyway(2), I brought my iPad and bracelet-making stuff with me just in case I had the capacity to stay outside after all of that, and I DID. I went to this cafe with confusing signs that CLAIMS to be vegan (still learning). I had been wanting to come here for months, solely because it’s purple. It was very MANIA in there, and they were playing Stevie Wonder. 👌🏽 I did not try to stop myself from singing My Cherie Amour outloud.

I stayed for longer than I should have, but I never go outside, and I’ve been trying to do that. My plans with my new language exchange partner/possible new friend(?) got canceled because a bunch of people called in to her job recently because of COVID (When are people gonna stop acting like it’s gone??). 아무튼 어제부터 하루 종일 생각하고 플래닝 하고 있었고 잠 자기 전에 그거에 대해서 생각하고 오늘 아침에 4시간 쯤 불안하게 생각하고 있었고 드디어 우체국으로 도착하고 친구들한테 벨렌타인 같은 카드랑 포스트 카드를 보냈습니당. (지금은 택배로 보내기를 왜 이렇게 복잡해요? 네모 엔벨롭 하고 다른 모양 네모 엔벨롭 하고 다르고…원래 이렇게 복찹했어요? 제가 유럽에서 하고 한국에서 뭔가 보내고 있었을 때 이렇게 복잡하지 않은 것 같은데요…알려 주십시옹!).

iPad 하고 팔찌 만들기 물건을 가져왔어요. 만일을 대비해 그 모든 일을 마친 후에 밖에 머물 수 있는 능력이 있었으면, 그렇게 했습니다!

혼란스러운 간판 있는 비건 카페로 같습니다 (비건 하기 어떻게 되는지 아직 배우고 있습니다). 제가 몇 개월 정도 여기 가고 싶은 생각 있었는데 대부분 보라색이라서 그래요. 진짜 마니아 앨범 처럼 보였어요. 그리고 스티비 원더 노래를 나오고 있었습니다. 아마도 있어야 할 것보다 더 오래 있었어요. 한국 카페 문화랑 미국 카페 문화를 다른 것 같아요. 그래서 제가 미국에 있는 카페 길게 있으면 좀 불안한 느낌이 나요. 그래도 제가 여기로 이사 가기 부터 지금 까지 절때 밖에 거의 절때 밖에 가지 않았어요. 밖에 가기 노력 하고 있어요. 언어 교환 파트너 하고 새로운 친구 같은 사람이 만나는 계획이 취소 됐어요. 왜냐하면 그 분의 직업에서 사람 몇 명이 코비드 걸렸어요. (사람들이 왜 코비드 다 없어 버렸다고 행동하는 거예요??)복 받으실 분 이에요.

몇 개 년 동안 만이야 앨범을 듣기 피하고 있었어요. 왜냐면 처음 들었을 때 제가 중국에서 엄청 아프고 와상이었어요 (bedridden?) 너무 많이 울었고 엄청 우울했어요. 그 앨범을 원래 사랑하고 지금도 사랑하지만 그냥 느낌을 안 느껴도 되면 느끼지 않아요 저. 왜냐면 어른이 해야 할 것을 해야 하고 제가 회복을 시간 얼마니 필요 할 건지 모르겠어요. 지금 들으면 경험이 너무 달라졌어요. 아마 노래들은 다른 순서로 나와요. 그리고 노래들을 엄청 좋아서 계속 피할 수가 없어요. 💜🌊
