State of Affairs: oh, it's not good. Bad, in fact!
listening music (lol)
Greetings, all! I apologize for not much communication, art or comics this month, but things were a bit out of my control! I'll cut right to the point: I had a big oopsie at the start of May, and the situation overall has not gotten much better since then.
Here's the scoop as plain as I can explain it: I dropped my external hard drive, and it no longer connected to my computer. My computer has a very tiny amount of memory (the OS capacity is less than 120GB), so I have used an external hard drive as the brain of my computer for years now. I have no back-ups either on another hard drive, older computer, or cloud service.
This external hard drive housed everything I have created and brought with me between computers since 2013. It stored all my art. All of it. My comic pages, my working files, my works-in-progress, my commission pieces, as well as gifts from friends and other artists. It had all the sessions of my at-home tabletop game 'Blueshift', which is a pretty big hit for me as I had only just finished the game. I didn't even have time to be happy the game was finished until I had to mourn a loss of it I had not anticipated.
I sent the hard drive to a data recovery company with good reviews. It had nearly 2TB of data on it, and I tried very hard not to get my hopes up that they'd be able to retrieve most of my data. Despite this, I still was disappointed by what they sent back.
To be blunt: they did not retrieve most of my data. In fact, I'd say in total they only recovered about 40%, if I am being generous. They were unable to recover any of my in-development projects (A Cure for Athanasia, Super Manifest: Steward Cycle, The Tenth, The Sword of Hours, etc), and unfortunately BACKLASH didn't make it out unscathed either. Old art files that I one day wanted to make Prints off have been lost, as well as small doodles and secret sketches which never made it online.
While reviewing the files that they managed to recover, I also noticed that whole chunks of BACKLASH's working page files have been lost or corrupted. This isn't a huge setback for the comic itself since all of BACKLASH is online to read. But it is hard and heartbreaking for me, because despite everything I did one day want to make a printed edition of BACKLASH. I wanted to hold my comic in my hands.
That dream is not impossible, but it is now much further away. I can recreate my old pages with what I currently have, but it will be a lot of extra work, and there is no getting around that.
Losing this much of my history, artistic journey, relationships and formative time as an artist has been really hard on me, emotionally and mentally. I'm very sad. It's hard to draw right now for myself. Commission work comes easily, since I am given a prompt to draw for someone else, but creative ideas are not flowing for me at the moment. My hands are frozen and dejected.
I am now waiting to get back the files that the data recovery people managed to retrieve for me (probably by tomorrow, they said), and I am looking into other places in order to get a second opinion of sorts. At this point there really is no harm in trying, and maybe a different operation might have better luck. Who knows? It may be grasping at straws, but at this point things can't get any worse than this.
When I get my data back I'll be able to finish up BACKLASH chapter 7. I want to finish it off - there are not very many pages left, and miraculously the few remaining pages are among the ones that were recovered! So that's good. I will be finishing up the chapter, and afterward BACKLASH will be taking a bit of a break. I don't know how long the hiatus will last, and I won't be making any kind of estimate. It'll take as long as I need until I feel I can put one foot in front of the other again. Maybe I'll work on something else for a while, maybe I won't draw anything. Who knows! I don't, haha.
Eventually I'll be okay, and I'll get back on the horse. Even in the midst of all this turmoil I really just want to be making comics ;_;
Until then, I just need some time. It's the only cure for this kind of problem, I think. So, I thank you for your patience, and I thank you for the love you've shown me, my work, and my characters. I couldn't be where I am and I couldn't have made all the work I have without your support and love. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
I'll see you when I get back! Much love and many kisses, xoxo 💖💖💖

Hola !
Tumblr media
Checking back in because ... I've seen my little group of follower legends has grown while I was gone and ... THANK YOU!
I didn't expect my account to grow while I'm practically gone for a while.
Well, fall is slowly but surely coming closer AND, I've been working! 😏 Currently I'm back at the "Guitar project" and while THAT is continuing to cost me a lot of sweat, tears and nerves, I was also spending a lot of time doing stuff concearning this dude.
The dude I grew unexpectedly and immensly fond of ever since I studied him to pieces and wrote down his whole backstory/life in my novel and I'll protect him fiercely 👁 👄 👁 Any haters will face the wrath of Imelda's boot, which I will borrow!

And also
Tumblr media
The gem of a man
And yes, there have been MAAANY things going on while I was gone. I talked a LOT with my besties and as I was continuing to write my novel. I came to the conclution, that I will not post any more drafts online at all anymore. I'm sorry, I know many love the story but the thing is this; I first started with a plain fanfic. That was the plan. I posted the first drafts and over time suddenly found myself going back to professional writing and woops, all of the sudden I was writing a novel. Something that became immensly important to me. It became a serious commitment, not just a itty bitty story. A real book that'll end up having around 700 to 800 pages give or take. Making the decisson to not post any drafts anymore saves me and you guys from disappointments. It's not a question if you'll get to read to book one day, because you will. However, the whole book won't be out for free. I know that some might not be happy about having to buy my book but guys ... don't you also go into a book store and buy a book you like? Writing a whole novel is different than writing a fanfic. It cost a lot of time! And if you put that much time and effort into something, it's absolutely right and ok to eventually charge something for it. Not because artists are money hungry. It's a form of support.
On the good side, those who will want the book, will get it. It won't be too expensive, promise! Not much more than a normal book you buy. 😊 📖
I hope you understand. You can also always keep asking me questions if you cannot wait to read the thing. I will also keep posting some scenes from my book as some little encouragements and quotes.
As for my art, I've been working on quite a handfull, so you'll not just get 1 thing after such a long time!
Also, I will open up Commissions soon. The price list and the rules come with it.
~
Other than that, I also have 3 more Coco projects coming in the future. And for now, they'll stay a secret. 🧵🪡

I know Aliexpress is bad for a variety of reasons. (Though the One that I can remember is that it's one of the foreign markets that will steal art/craft/designs from small artists.)
But. After many impulse buys, I do need to say. That when it comes to buying various 'official' merchandise, there's obviously going to be knockoffs, but. Idk, for buying a bunch of frivolous Pokemon and anime stuff, I haven't been disappointed.
Had one expensive order, and it was super nice quality, well packaged, shipped pretty fast, and looking at is, was probably from the official Chinese company that distributes that merch.
Of the cheaper orders, only one was 'bad'. All of the advertising on the listing is straight BS, and they were tripling down on it being the official product and a certain high quality. And it was okay, but definitely not what they were trying to hype up. I went in expecting a bad quality, so I didn't care, but it really was just 'looks similar and is still good, I like it, but it's not five star, it's probably a three star. Just be honest about it, geez'. It's a 'you get what you pay for' thing, and it wouldn't normally bother me. But. The one thing that bothers me is lying, and lying so desperately.
Like. Between the truest, perfect definition of a knockoff (poor quality of something that's normally expensive/sought after), and the perfect order, I had the. Well, another knockoff, but one that the seller specifies with the description/specification. Arceus adventure pack bag by Hori: Originally $30, currently ~$45+ buying from other countries or $80 from Amazon. Total for a copycat (listing said Miniso, though the bag itself has no labels anywhere): $17. Does it look as good as the real thing? No, it's all screenprint and doesn't pop like the Hori bag looks like it does. (Based on a YT unboxing vid.) Is it as good quality? I doubt it, Hori makes some real nice accessories, and this bag mostly feels like the free hip pouch Target gave out if you bought Zelda:TOTK in store. But does it function the same, have decent padding, and look similar enough to get the point across? Absolutely. And I'm usually a function over form, so I don't need it to be the perfect branded item. I just happened to see one of the adventure packs during holiday season (not on sale), thought 'oh, it holds both Switches? I could use something like that', thought the Arceus looked best, but shrugged when it wasn't really available at a reasonable price. And then when I saw it a month and a half later as a 'too cheap to be the real thing, and it's not' listing, I was just. 'I'm okay with that, let's go'.
Aliexpress has been mostly hits, tbh, and even the one miss was only a miss because the seller is adamant about trying to make you think you're getting something good for. Like 12 bucks. But it was still good overall. At this point, I'm just waiting on two orders that had sellers who waited until the last minute to make labels for things they weren't actually ready to shop out. Which. Feels sus enough that I'll record the unboxing, I guess, but my gut says they're fine. Ali just set what I feel was an unrealistic deadline for when to ship things at the tail end of holiday season. I wouldn't begrudge sellers if they make labels to get the system to not flag them as not sending anything when they just need more time. (Working retail is different from an online store, I know, but I will never be able to act like the customers who expect everything faster than is reasonable. When you put up with people coming in thirty minutes after placing an order, asking where it is, when I can be filling anywhere between 5-20 pick-up orders constantly throughout the day on top of 60+ orders to ship out, and haven't even seen theirs come in? I imagine anyone selling stuff during that time to be backed up.)

October 2, 2023
Current Mood: fine, a little anxious
Day Rating: 5/10
Another day doing online college... Or so I thought. That makes it sound like I spent the day on some thrilling adventure, but really I just didn't have any work to do. I had the whole house to myself like I usually do on weekdays, so I spent today just lounging around at my kitchen table with my dog.
I feel bad for her though lmao. The kitchen window was open so we could hear all the birds tweeting outside, but I had a song stuck in my head. The Song with Five Names, a.k.a. Soapbox Tao, a.k.a. Checkmate Atheists! a.k.a. Neospace Government, a.k.a. You Can Never Know by Will Wood to be exact. Say that 10 times fast. See, when I have a song stuck in my head, I can't just listen to it once. Not twice. Not even three times. I have to listen to it over and over and over and overandoverandoverandoverandover again on repeat until I'm satisfied. I think that's a form of stimming. Lately I've been having one Will Wood song stuck in my head per day. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the only artist that shows up in my Spotify Wrapped. Anyways, back to my dog, poor girl just wanted to rest her old bones and take a nap, but here I am blasting some evil jazz on repeat because I can't function otherwise. Or maybe she's used to it by now :P
Later today, after dinner to be exact, my mom took me out driving again. I've only ever driven in parking lots, so she wanted me to get at least some experience on the road before I meet with my instructor on Wednesday (which, by the way, I found out there's no female instructors at that school. Being in a car with some random man? Yuck!) The original plan was just to drive around the block, but I eventually wanted to practice some more since I felt like I was getting the hang of things.
I drove around the whole town for a while, which wasn't really a lot since I live in a small town, and I eventually got the courage to drive on a real road. I didn't drive on the real road too much, to be fair, but it was still my first time actually being on one. It was a little scary, but there weren't many cars out this evening. The most aggravating part was waiting for cars to pass so I could actually turn onto the road.
Tomorrow, my mom wants me to take on more populated roads. Nothing big, just in the next town over. She specifically wants me to go to this store, and it makes me wonder if it's just an excuse to take her out shopping lmao.
Oh! I drove by some houses in my town that are already decorated for Halloween. There was one house in the very back road that did an excellent job utilizing the small yard they had to strategically place props. There didn't seem to be any specific theme, but I'm not complaining. All the stuff they had put out there was awesome. I'm going to go window shopping for Halloween props and decorations later this month, so maybe I can find where those people got their stuff from. People always hype up Spirit Halloween, but other stores like Party City and Home Depot have really cool things too. Sometimes they're even better!
I hope when I'm living on my own, I'll be able to make enough money where I can buy cool Halloween props too. Hell, I'd keep a couple in my house all year long if they fit my decorations. Man, if I had money, I'd be so cool. I hate that I need money in order to express myself and be happy, but I also want money so bad. The world is tough like that, I suppose.
Another diary entry where I rambled a lot about an uneventful day. I wonder what will happen when I have an eventful day. I might end up writing a novel lmao. Not that it matters. This is my corner of the internet. It's possible that no one will even read these entries anyways. Just me and my own thoughts. Marking my existence on the internet so I won't be forgotten.

34.
1. Is there a certain place or store you especially hate going to? - Walmart and Costco. Really just anywhere crowded, and those two are always crowded.
2. When was the last time you made plans with someone? - Today for this weekend.
3. How long do leftovers usually sit in your fridge? - No longer than a week.
4. What is something you do for other people that shows you care for them? - Even if it's been hours, I will text back or call back in the same day. I'm not one of those "oh hey I fell asleep so I left you on read for 48 hours" kind of people. There are hours out of the day, though, where I purposely put away my phone so I can get things done with no interruption. If I miss someone's text or call, I'll answer it or call them back as soon as I can. And I'm a random gift giver. If I see something that reminds me of someone in a store, I'll usually buy it for them.
5. What was the last animal/pet that you met? - Gouda! He's my husband's friend's pit bull. He's such a happy boy with a big ol' head!
6. Is there anyone in your life with whom your opinion changes on frequently? - Not really.
7. Do you ever look up set lists for concerts? - Not usually. I really only go to concerts and shows of bands and artists I actually listen to. So, I'll know all the songs and there isn't a reason to look it up.
8. Have you ever woken up thinking that the dream you had was real? - Yes.
9. Have you ever kept a journal? Do you currently keep one? - I do have one that I started earlier this year, but the last time I wrote in it, I believe was March, haha. I'm terrible about keeping journals now. I guess my life isn't as exciting as it used to be so I don't feel the need to write things down.
10. Is there a certain song or band who remind you of specific people? - Sure.
11. Would you prefer to take a picture of yourself, or have someone else take it for you? - I would prefer to take a picture of myself.
12. How often do you style your hair differently from how you normally style it? - Lately I've been wearing my hair straightened because the weather isn't so humid and warm, so it doesn't get all big and frizzy. And while it's straighten, I'll sometimes use my curling wand to put big curls in it. But I try to do that only two times every two weeks. I don't like to use a lot of heat in my hair.
13. What was the last thing to really surprise you? - It's not a good surprise, but my cousin's death. I'm still in a state of shock that I'll never see him again.
14. What did you do this past weekend? - I went to a funeral on Saturday^ and on Sunday, I had dinner at my parents' house.
15. Is there something in particular you always seem to forget? - Not really. I don't lose things, I don't forget things. I'm too anxious and organized of a person to do that, haha. I guess the only thing I can think of is unplugging the dog's nightlight in the morning. But even that's only sometimes.
16. Have you ever found out that you have been sleep walking? - Once I got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom but had no recollection of it. My husband told me the next day that I did but I really didn't remember doing so. Maybe I was asleep then. But I sometimes talk in my sleep, so it wouldn't surprise me if I was a sleepwalker.
17. What’s the last thing you promised yourself? - That I'll be okay.
18. Have you ever tried making something from one of those short cooking videos? How did it turn out? - Yes, but I still looked for the actual recipe in the description box. Turned out great. It was some vegan pecan pie bars that I made last year. I liked them so much that I saved the recipe and it's on my phone for future use.
19. When was the last time you had to wait in line for longer than a few minutes? - I'm guessing a show. I like to line up early so I get a good spot.
20. Have you ever written a review for a product you bought online? - Yes.
21. Would you rather go out somewhere with your friends or stay at home and hang out with them instead? - Stay in.
22. Do you ever interact with any brands/companies online? - No.
23.  How happy are you with your current job? If you don’t have a job, what’s something you think you think you would dislike about working? - I'm not working right now. Taking a few months off before committing to another family. I'm a nanny. I don't like the burn out from working as a nanny. Everyone assumes it's such an easy job but in the same breath will tell moms that they're heroes for doing what they do. Uh, hello! I'm doing what they do, only I get berated for it, told it's not a real job, asked when will I get a real job, etc. I can go on and on. But yeah, the burn out is real, so I'm actually one of those people who will always cheer moms on. Spending hours a day, everyday, with a kid can be very tiring. Mix that with not having a good support system via the family, and it's total burn out. And I was burnt out, which is why after my almost five year commitment with my last nanny family, I decided to take a break to see if I really wanted to continue. I miss caring for children, but I think I'm going to stick to infants and newborns. I want to become a postpartum doula and the more I research it, the more I really think that's the job for me. But who knows, I could change my mind. Blah, sorry for the word avalanche. I've just been so happy NOT working that I almost dread finding a new family, even though it could be a 100% different experience than my last one.
24. Is there anything you seem especially sensitive to, such as sounds, smells, etc? - Yes.
25. What was the last board game you played? - I guess Pictionary.

drinking games || itadori yuuji
Tumblr media
this is a part of the sewer’s valentine’s day collab! please be sure to check out all the amazing writers & artists on the list here! thank you for letting me be a part of it! 💗
Tumblr media
Pairing: Itadori Yuuji x Female!Reader
Warnings: Smut (18+), Alcohol Intoxication
Word Count: 4.8k+
A/N: Here’s my first fic for the JJK fandom! I hope its turned out alright 😩💗 my pink item for the collab was pink vodka! I wound up having quite a bit of fun writing this, Yuuji’s just prime playful sex material and I love it 😍 If you’re uncomfortable with themes of sexual acts being initiated under the influence of alcohol then please don’t read. All characters are aged 18+.
Tumblr media
[You: 22:42] Put some pants on I’m coming over [Yuuji: 22:43] U better bring food [You: 22:43] I got something better! [You: 22:50] OPEN THE DOOR YUUJI
Stumbling into the apartment, you clutch at the bag slung over your shoulder that contains the surprise you’ve brought along with you, “Are you deaf?”
“Ah, sorry, I had my headphones in,” He scratches at the back of his neck before closing the door, “What’d you bring? Is it for me?”
“I barely even walked through the door!” You roll your eyes, feeling his curious gaze at your shoulder as you place the contents of the bag onto the coffee table: a bottle and two shot glasses.
Pink liquid sloshes inside the glass container, grabbing the man behind you’s attention. Yuuji reaches over and picks up the bottle, reading the label until it clicks what exactly you’ve brought with you.
“You pick tonight, before I have to go on a mission in the morning to bring alcohol over?” He whines, tilting the liquor back and forth with mindless fascination, “This looks like a girly drink anyways.”
“It’s vodka, come on you can drink a little with me yeah? Unless you’re gonna pass out early on me like last time, you lightweight.”
Shifting anything into a challenge is a surefire way to get Yuuji to become an active participant, always striving to improve, including how much alcohol he can consume supposedly. You smirk in victory while he goes to find a bottle opener, mumbling about how he’s going to prove you wrong this time.
“Is Megumi here?” Making yourself comfortable on the thrifted couch, you inquire on his roommate’s whereabouts. After leaving Jujutsu Tech, you and Nobara sought out a small apartment in the city while Yuuji and Megumi found one a bit closer to your alma mater.
Nobara normally accompanied you on the trip up the mountains to their place, but she had left the apartment that evening for an overnight mission. It seemed Megumi was just as busy too, “Nah, Gojou-sensei asked him to join on a last minute thing.”
“I’ll just have to record you passed out in the bathroom then.” You tease, remembering the last time all four of you had gotten together and drank. Faint memories of Yuuji barely holding down his liquor as he stormed to the bathroom plagued your mind, followed by all of you finding him knocked out cold on the tiled flooring twenty minutes later.
He inserts the bottle opener, using his superhuman strength to yank the cork out in one fell swoop, “Let’s make a bet; you win, which you won’t, you can record me admitting defeat and post it online, I win, I get you to do something for me.”
“First of all, how do we determine who wins?” You raise an eyebrow, holding your glass out for Yuuji to pour the pink liquid in, “Second, what exactly would I do for you?”
“Whoever says no to another shot first, loses, and I haven’t figured it out yet, you scared? Hm?” Placing the bottle down, he glances over at you and wags his eyebrows tauntingly, waiting for you to snatch the bait you tossed his way earlier when you challenged him to drinking in the first place.
The shot glass brushes against your lips before you allow the alcohol to effortlessly glide down your throat, swallowing it all in one go, “You’re on.”
Yuuji’s wolfish grin has your stomach at an immediate disadvantage, with the way it feels like numerous knots have formed within the space currently reserved for liquor. You divert your attention to the television, grabbing the remote and flicking through movies to find the perfect candidate.
After downing his first shot of the evening, he points forwards, “Oh! Oh! Let’s watch a horror movie!”
It would make for a good drinking game, you think to yourself as you click on the horror genre, a myriad of bloody thumbnails coating the screen. The amount of cliches alone would have both of you finishing the first bottle after one movie. Yes, you brought a second, unable to resist the buy one get one half off deal the liquor store was having.
You both agree on watching the classic Scream movies, taking shots for specific horror movie tropes that appear along with every time either one of you falls for a jumpscare.
“Y/N…” Yuuji suddenly whispers at your side only minutes into the film, “You want popcorn? I want popcorn.”
“Hurry up then! Can’t have you cheating by getting a snack.” You tease, laughing to yourself at the way he dashes to the kitchen to throw a bag of kernels into the microwave.
He leans on the archway between the two rooms while waiting for the appliance to ding, but you didn’t notice until you visibly flinch at the sight of a chair being thrown through a window on screen, “I saw that! Take a shot!”
“Wha– that’s not fair! I can’t tell if you flinch from here!” You whip your head around only to be met with his toothy grin, “Yuuji!”
“Are you scared of losing that bad?” That puts an instant scowl on your lips; he knows you’re just, if not more competitive than he is when it comes to silly games like these. By the time Yuuji returns to your side with a bowl of fresh popcorn in tow, you’ve long since took your second shot of the night.
Minutes tick by, drinks are taken, and you’re beginning to feel the alcohol buzzing through your system. The buttery snack is nearly gone, the pink-haired man at your side having practically devoured most of it. Your fingers walk along the plastic bowl in search of more, refusing to tear your gaze from the movie, until they suddenly meet another hand.
This paired with the suspense building in the film has you jumping slightly in your seat. Yuuji lets out a loud laugh as you glance in his direction with an incredulous look on your complexion, “Sorry! I didn’t mean to scare you!”
“Here,” He brings the last piece of popcorn towards your face, waiting patiently for you to part your lips. As you do, his fingertips just barely brush against them, causing your body temperature to rise very quickly at the contact. Yuuji’s soft, gentle eyes don’t waver from your own pair for what feels like an eternity and your tipsy brain is going on and on about how attractive your best friend really is–
That is, until a loud noise coming from the television yet again has your entire body jolting in surprise, “Fuck!”
“Thas’ another shot.” Yuuji slurs only slightly, turning back towards the film as he leans over and pours you the drink this time.
“It’s not fair,” A whine escapes your throat before liquor is yet again poured down it, shaking your head at the bitter taste, “You’re trained to be good at this.”
Suddenly an arm is draped over your shoulder, tugging you closer to the male’s sturdy frame, “Come ‘ere, I’ll protect you from the big bad scary movie.”
You’re about to protest how that actually wouldn't help, but the next jumpscare rolls around and you’re unwavering at the gruesome sight. That, paired with how safe you actually feel when pressed against Yuuji’s side, has you shifting closer until your head is laid on his shoulder and your legs are curled underneath you.
His fingertips wander along your arm, mindlessly tracing shapes against your skin and chuckling to himself whenever goosebumps form in his wake. Shots are now chugged straight from the bottle, neither of you wanting to detach from the other but both unable to express that aloud.
It would be so easy to blame your feelings on the copious amount of alcohol, but the liquid courage has only brought your infatuation to the forefront of your thoughts. Being wrapped in Yuuji’s embrace was something you hadn’t realized you wanted, even needed, until this very moment.
Your mind is swirling by the time the first bottle is actually finished and you’re halfway through the second movie. Unable to stop anything that spills from your unfiltered mouth, you blurt out, “Yuuji, you’re like, a human radiator, what the fuck.”
“Oh!” He hiccups, “Are you too warm? I can...I can move or turn on the fan–”
The attempt he makes at lifting himself from the couch is futile, his wobbling legs giving out on him along with you refusing to let go, “No! I like it.”
“Gotta get alcohol too, we finished the bottle and there’s still the second movie and oh I think there’s a third one too if I’m not mistaken–”
“No- no more shots,” Just the thought of more liquor makes your stomach churn; you had definitely reached your limit a few shots prior but if you push it any farther, you might be the one with their head in the toilet this evening.
Your admission of defeat has Yuuji turning to fully face you, his button nose nearly brushing against your own, “I win?”
“Yeah,” The words sting your stubborn tongue, “You win, I’ll do whatever you want, but be nice!”
“I almost forgot about that! Hmm...”
His eyes search yours while he silently thinks of what he wants as “compensation” for winning the silly drinking game, the movie you both once paid close attention to now only background noise. You could just faintly feel his breath on your lips, the gap between both of you subconsciously growing smaller.
A dust of pink coats Yuuji’s cheeks when he finally speaks again, “Can I kiss you?”
“Yes-” You manage to exhale before his lips crash onto yours, the taste of popcorn still lingering on his mouth. The kiss is sweet, albeit clumsy from your intoxicated state of mind, but it has Yuuji giggling nonetheless. He tries to contain himself, opting to release soft hums like he’s just taken a bite of decadent chocolate.
“Wow,” The pink-haired male gasps out as you pull back just enough for some much needed air, “I’ve been wanting to do that for years.”
“Years?” You manage to squeak out, leaning back just enough to look into those warm, brown eyes.
Yuuji appears like a deer caught in headlights, realizing the words that just stumbled off his tongue, “I- uh...yeah, I hope that isn’t weird–”
It's your turn to cut him off with a kiss, right after adjusting yourself on the couch just enough that you could toss your arms over his shoulders, dragging his body closer to yours. Deft fingers play with the small strands of hair at the back of his head, eventually raking his locks between them. His own hands find solace at your hips, guiding you onto his lap without pause.
A part of you was still in disbelief, unable to understand how you had gone from watching scary movies to making out on the couch. You don’t even get an opportunity to dwell on it, Yuuji’s lips forcing yours open just enough for him to guide his tongue inside. The feeling of him eagerly exploring every cavern of your mouth with the pink muscle has your legs clenching at his sides, heat beginning to pool between them.
Then, unexpectedly– “Ow!” Your teeth clack, forcing you apart from one another in surprise and slight pain.
“I’m so sorry,” He brings his palm to the side of your complexion, an adorable pout spread along his bottom lip, “I think I drank a bit too much.”
“It’s okay, me too.” You laugh, leaning into his touch. The way Yuuji gazes at you in this moment makes you feel like a goddess, nothing but absolute adoration swimming in his irises. Had he truly felt this way for you all this time without you catching on?
Slowly, you meet him in the middle again, this kiss much less rushed than before. What once felt like roaring waves crashing onto the earth’s surface, overwhelming all of your senses, had calmed to soft laps at the sand, gently guiding you into the ocean. Occasionally, a small hiccup or a breathy laugh would leave one of your mouths, still in disbelief that this was actually happening.
Yuuji’s lips then leave yours in favor of pressing them along your jawline, peppering your skin with feather-like delicacy. His travels lead him to the curve of your neck, your head lolling to the side to give him easy access. When his teeth first bare themselves and tug at your sensitive skin you subconsciously grind your hips down and let out a shaky exhale.
“Do that again.” He mumbles, fingers curling harder into your sides, “Please.”
Another roll of your hips has him whining against you, gathering your once unlittered skin between his teeth as he coaxes a mark to form under his ministrations. With your lips just barely parted, you release a needy moan, the noise traveling to both Yuuji’s ears and the space between his legs.
Maybe it was the alcohol, or maybe it was your infatuation settling on the surface, but every touch was so warm and only made you crave more. You set a lazy pace of rocking your hips against the man beneath you, digging your fingernails into the back of his scalp as he continued to mark up your skin, practically claiming you as his. You want that, you think to yourself, you want to be his.
As his mouth travels back up in search of your lips, you speak against them, “Take off your shirt.”
You emphasize your request by blazing a hand down to the hem of his loose tee, tugging at the soft material. Yuuji’s half-lidded eyes open a bit wider at the suggestion, “Are you sure? Listen, I know we’re kinda drunk, but I really do like you, like a lot. I wish I would’ve had the courage to do this sooner–”
“I like you too,” Cutting Yuuji off on his tangents seems to be an ongoing trend that evening, “I want this, I want you, so make me yours.”
While he takes a moment to process the words just spoken to him, you decide to make yourself loud and clear by yanking your shirt up and over your head, tossing it onto the hardwood floor without a second glance. His eyes immediately divert to your now partially exposed breasts, intricate lace holding them close together.
“You’re so pretty,” Yuuji blurts out, tentatively bringing one hand back to your cheek, “If you ever want to stop just tell me, promise?”
Glancing down, you notice he’s held out his other hand with only his pinky sticking up. With a light giggle you nod, curling your own finger around his to seal the deal. The next thing to escape your mouth is a squeal, Yuuji’s lips returning to your own with a renounced fervor.
Except you tug harshly at his shirt, reminding him that you wanted it off and you wanted it off now. He follows through this time, detaching himself from your mouth only temporarily.
The pads of your fingers immediately explore his newly exposed frame, feeling his body shiver under your cool touch. His hands trail down your arms, palms gliding along your skin until they nearly meet one another at your perky breasts. When he stalls momentarily, you whine in protest against his lips and eagerly press your body closer to his warmth.
Yuuji uses your silent plea as encouragement to continue, pressing indents into your soft mounds and toying with the bra that separates him from your hardening nipples. Despite that, he runs his thumbs over them through the flimsy fabric, chuckling at the breathless noise you produce in response.
He goes silent the moment the palm of your hand presses against his clothed erection, fingers curling around his length through his sweatpants. Gasping into your mouth, you take this opportunity to invade his with your tongue while slowly sliding a hand down his shaft.
“Can I take your pants off?” You eventually ask, causing him to halt his ministrations.
He’s quick to comply though, nodding and begging against your lips, “Yes, please.”
It still didn’t stop him from pouting when you lifted yourself from his lap, but his expression quickly shifts when he watches you sink onto your knees directly in front of him. With your calves resting on the hardwood floor, you reach up and curl your impatient fingers around the waistband of his sweats, yanking them down in one fell swoop.
You were fully expecting to have to drag a pair of briefs down his toned thighs, but you’re pleasantly surprised when his cock springs free and slaps at his toned abdomen. Glancing up, you notice the way Yuuji’s caught his bottom lip between his teeth, eyebrows furrowed when he meets your gaze.
“Don’t hold back any pretty noises from me Yuuji.” His mouth parts ever so slightly, obeying your command while never tearing his eyes from you.
Your delicate fingers immediately wrap around the base, feeling his hot skin throb at the sudden touch. A small puddle of precum rests along his lower stomach, having come from his drooling head.
Yuuji sucks in a deep breath when your tongue lolls out of your mouth, but the tension seemingly dissipates when you begin lapping at his leaking slit, “Hah! That tickles!”
Repeating the action, you’re unable to stop yourself from eliciting another bout of laughter from the pink-haired male. You swallow his precum with an amused grin, watching him through your lashes to gauge his next reaction.
“Oh fuck…” All laughter dies in his throat when you take the entire head between your lips, sucking hard at the sensitive skin. Low groans escape past clenched teeth instead, one of his hands digging into the cushion with so much strength he might just tear it to shreds.
The further you travel down his length, the more vocal Yuuji is in return. His unoccupied hand travels between your locks, seeking any sort of purchase to keep himself from cumming in twenty seconds flat.
Despite that, he truly wasn’t prepared for just how amazing it felt when you began bobbing up and down along his veiny cock, your hand stroking what wouldn’t fit. He refuses to tear his gaze away, refuses to let his eyes close in bliss and miss even a second of the view in front of him.
This goes on for what feels like forever: your big, soft eyes peering up at him while his cock is wedged between your pouty lips, a culmination of saliva and precum beginning to spill down your chin. If he peeks even further down he can see your perky nipples straining against your bra; it was a sight he wants to burn into his memory for the rest of his life.
“You’re so perfect, so good, please don’t stop, please, please, please–” Yuuji begs, accidentally thrusting his hips upwards in desperation. The feeling of his head at the back of your tight throat has you instantly gagging, tears pooling at your lower lash line.
It takes him a few moments to notice those tears now rolling down your cheekbones, quickly loosening his grip and allowing you to remove yourself from his length, “Did I hurt you?”
“No, no,” You reassure him after a much needed breath, brushing your swollen lips along the prominent vein that runs down his cock, “I kinda liked it.”
He doesn’t even get a chance to respond to such a blunt statement before you’re hollowing out your cheeks and sucking him back into the wet cavern of your mouth. The muscles in his thighs begin to tense with his rapidly impending orgasm, fingernails digging harshly into your scalp while he chants praise after praise into the thick air.
“I’m so close, hah, if you don’t- if you don’t stop I’m gonna,” Yuuji tries to speak with some cohesiveness, but it dissolves into debauched blabber when your hand reaches up and begins massaging his aching balls, “I’m gonna cum!”
This spurs you on further, taking him as deep as you can until you nearly choke on his head once more. Your nose almost rests on his pubic bone when his grip on your hair tightens, forcing you to keep still as he spills thick, hot cum into your eager mouth. His eyes are screwed shut as he pumps ropes of white fluid down your throat, long, guttural moans passing his lips.
Persistence is key, you tell yourself as you refuse to release him until you’ve swallowed every single last drop. Until finally the overstimulation gets too much to bear and Yuuji yanks you off of his softening cock.
“Wow,” He exhales, allowing you to glide his sweats back up his frame and climb into his inviting lap.
You can’t help but giggle at his blissed out state, pecking his lips once, twice– before speaking, “Wow? That’s all you can say?”
“I think you sucked my brain out too,” Yuuji whines, hands resting comfortably on your pert ass, “Before I go completely braindead, let me return the favor.”
“You’re so dumb, Yuuji–!” A squeal is ripped from your throat when your back meets the couch cushions, bouncing ever so slightly before a lean figure hovers over you.
The smile spreading across his complexion is contagious, those pretty brown eyes sparkling as he peers down at you, “You’re so beautiful, you know that? I’ve wanted this for so, so long.”
Your legs squeeze around his waist, drawing him closer until you can reach forward and capture his mouth in yet another fleeting kiss. This entire evening feels like a fever dream, or rather a wet dream from the depths of your subconscious. One might mistake it for fantasy if his words of praise and gentle touches didn’t ground you back, back to the reality where Yuuji is now trailing his soft lips down the column of your neck.
He continues his journey downwards until reaching the swell of your breasts, nuzzling his nose into your cleavage and mumbling into your skin, “Tell me if I do anything you don’t like, okay?”
“Okay.” You nod, watching as he leaves a few more pecks along the tops of your chest before descending down yet again. Eventually, your legs drop back down onto the couch, Yuuji’s mouth and hands hovering over the waistband of your leggings.
Wasting no time, he eagerly curls his fingers around the material and rolls them down your thighs, your calves, and over your feet so he can cast them aside. You feel so exposed, your matching bra and panty set on full display to the man above you. If you look closely, you can see the way he drags his tongue over his bottom lip at the sight.
“You’re gonna be the death of me,” Yuuji groans before burying his face between the apex of your thighs without warning, like a tiger pouncing on its prey. All you see are pink tufts of hair as he drags his tongue along your clothed slit, impatient to get a taste of you.
He remains like this for what feels like too long, refusing to toss your panties aside as he sucks at the drenched lace while massaging the inside of your thighs with his palms, “Yuuji, please.”
“Hm?” Peeking his head up, he gets a glimpse of just how desperate you truly are; your eyes glassy, bottom lip puckered out, fingernails digging into the couch cushion, “What is it?”
“Take em off already!” You’re full on whining, jutting your hips up to emphasize your point.
He can’t stop himself from laughing before hooking his index fingers on the sides of your panties, growing more and more excited by the second. Neither of you expect the material to actually tear off of your frame from his mass enthusiasm, though, “Whoops.”
“You’re so lucky you’re cute.” You chide, but the sheepish grin Yuuji shoots your way has rendered you unable to be upset at the ruined underwear.
Finally tossing the flimsy lace aside, his next words run shivers down your spine, “I’ll make it up to you.”
His mouth descends onto your cunt in a flash, diving headfirst between your sopping wet folds with renowned fervor. The pink muscle of his tongue leaves no part of you untouched, eagerly lapping up whatever your body has to give him. You cry out in pleasure, thighs trapping Yuuji between them, even though there’s nowhere else he’d rather be in this moment than eating you out like a man starved.
When he isn’t dipping his tongue into your tight little hole, his lips are gathering your clit between them and sucking hard at the sensitive bud. Your eyes are rolling to the back of your skull, the heel of your foot digging into his toned back in search of some sort of purchase.
Just when you thought it couldn’t feel anymore amazing, he reaches down and presses not one, but two fingers at your entrance. He hums against your clit at just how hot and tight your walls feel around the appendages, wondering how good it would feel if it was his cock instead.
Tears begin rolling down your cheeks at the intense pleasure coiling in your lower abdomen; all these different sensations coming together in an attempt to drive you over the edge. From his mouth sucking fervently at your clit, to his fingers rapidly thrusting against that spongy spot inside of you, you were sure to tip over fast and hard.
“Yuuji, I’m- I’m so close already–!” Your voice cracks when he suddenly inserts a third, stretching you even further, “Please!”
Ever eager to satisfy, he picks up his pace even more, fucking you on his thick fingers and lavishing your fluttering cunt with his warm mouth. The pleasure is becoming too much to handle, your legs shaking rather violently, your climax so close.
You reach for his pink locks, tangling your fingers through them when your orgasm suddenly hits you like a freight train, a loud cry tearing through your throat. Yuuji coaxes you through it by refusing to halt his ministrations, enjoying the way you’re gushing around his digits and into his awaiting mouth.
When you start to come down from your high though, you realize he’s still very much between your legs, “Hah! No more! It’s too sensitive!”
“I think I’m gonna have to buy a new couch.” Is the first thing Yuuji says when he finally lifts himself up, your cum coating the entire lower half of his complexion, “You came a lot.”
“You’re embarrassing.” You instantly cover your face, growing warm with abashment at the realization.
The first thing you see when he eventually moves your hands is his concerned expression, having wiped away your slick with some napkins laid on the coffee table, “I thought it was really hot, but next time we should put a towel down or something.”
“Next time?” You squeak, completely forgetting how this entire ordeal came to fruition in the first place; him kissing you and admitting that he’s harbored feelings for you for years.
“I mean…yeah,” Yuuji’s cheeks go pink at the insinuation, “But I know we did things kind of backwards, so I’d really like to take you out on a date sometime, if you’d want.”
His words were sober, the alcohol having long since passed through both of your systems. Your own heart melts at the way he lays his own on the table, unwavering in his infatuation for you. Before vocalizing your answer, you lean up and capture his lips for the umpteenth time that evening in a toe-curling kiss.
“I’d love to go out with you, Yuuji.”

BONUS
The front door creaks when Megumi forces it open, cursing to himself about needing to fix it one of these days. It’s nearly seven in the morning when he returns to his small apartment and the only thing he wants to do is throw himself into bed and sleep for many, many hours.
Except, the sight in front of him has his left eye twitching: an empty alcohol bottle lays on the coffee table along with a bowl of unpopped kernels, numerous shot glasses, and a pair of lace panties. The television was still on, playing some vintage horror film he didn’t recognize.
He has half a mind to storm into Yuuji’s room and give him a piece of it, and he decides to do exactly that. Though, when he slams open his roommate’s bedroom door he’s met with a sleeping Yuuji holding you tightly in his embrace, a large blanket draped over both of your frames.
“Huh.” Megumi tilts his head to the side, realizing he should have expected it to be you, after all those years of listening to his friend’s pining.
The anger subsides only slightly, telling himself he’s still going to yell at both of you for not cleaning up when suddenly a mouth manifests itself onto the back of Yuuji’s hand, “Disgusting, isn’t it. At least you didn’t have to listen to it.”
Not necessarily disgusting, Megumi thinks, but he’s way too tired to deal with any of this anymore and begins to retreat to his bedroom when, “I wouldn’t suggest sitting on that couch anytime soon, either.”
Definitely too tired for this shit.

Thoughts on the commercialization of Christmas?
Y'all are so good about giving me permission to talk about things that I would have talked about anyway :) Disclaimer: this is from an American perspective.
Let's start with the positive: I am thankful that my religious holiday is so accessible. If I need decorations, materials, cards, or books related to the holiday I celebrate, they are easily purchased locally or online. I was genuinely thankful the other day that, when purchasing stamps at the post office, there were beautiful Christmas options.
The rest of the baggage that comes with the situation is horrible, though. I talked last year about the phrase "putting the Christ back in Christmas", in which I spoke about this:
Businesses take advantage of things that have meaning to us to try to get us to spend money. . . . I want to take the "Christ" out of capitalism's Christmas. I would rather advertising be as secular as possible. I don't want to put Christ in Christmas advertising. I don't want my God on their storefronts.
Whether we like it or not (and mostly because Christians have forced their religion onto everyone), Christmas has become a secular American holiday, and we have to deal with that reality. I've mostly accepted this. (I say a bit about it in last year's post as well.)
I don't enjoy businesses capitalizing on religion. (I'm leaving out small artists, etc. who make art/products about what is meaningful to them/their consumers here; I'm talking about corporations.) I acknowledge the reality that when a majority of America cares about something, it will be packaged and presented to them.
But I yearn for a day when I can quietly purchase supplies for the making of my religious season, maybe encounter some decorations or music in my town from local people who genuinely care about the holiday, and choose the ways I celebrate.
To summarize, taking into account the realities of capitalism: I am grateful I can buy things so easily for Christmas. I grudgingly accept the secularization of Christmas as a result of Christians' colonization/evangelism. I want other people's holidays to be as accessible as my own. I want corporations and advertising to (if they won't go away) prioritize secular advertising/products and general holiday seasons rather than religion and specific feast days. Also, maybe wait until at least Advent for all of this nonsense.
<3 Johanna
P.S.— Someone in my neighborhood has decorated with an inflatable minion in a Santa hat. This distresses me greatly. I'm not sure if society can heal.
P.P.S.— I will use this moment to shout out my current favorite religious Etsy store, andhersaints in case anyone's doing some Christmas shopping and wants to support someone who cares about the holiday!

75. You heard me talking about a TV show in class the other day and now you’re passionately yelling at me about how good it is we’ve never actually spoken before
76. It’s 10:30 at night and I left my glasses at home so I can’t read any of these labels and you’re one of the only people in the grocery store and GODDAMMIT DO YOU HAVE ANY TOMATO SAUCE WITHOUT CHUNKS
77. We go to the same support group; I have social anxiety and you’re a kleptomaniac who sorta stole my heart
78. You thought you were alone at the bus stop so early in the morning so you started passionately singing Fall Out Boy but your Patrick Stump impression could use some work and I’m not really afraid to point that out
79. I’m an artist and you have a really nice face so would you mind if I drew you?
80. We’re rival up-and-coming singers and every time one of us releases a new single the other does a cover to try to make it better; we’re always trying to top each other and out-cute each other, but half our fans aggressively ship us; our agents use this to their advantage and decide we should do a duet because it’ll be popular; unfortunately now that we’re in the same studio and I’ve seen what you’re like I really wanna know what your lips feel like
81.PLEASE I REALLY CANNOT FIND MY CAT AND I KNOW IT’S THREE A.M. BUT NEIL CATRICK HARRIS AND I WOULD BOTH APPRECIATE THE HELP
82. We were both stood up for dates at the same nice restaurant so we decide to eat together and split the check but I dunno you’re pretty interesting aside from your distractingly enormous eyebrows
83. We met at a mutual friend’s cheesy masquerade party and we agree that the only good thing about this party is the masks so you can’t judge a book by its cover only now that we’ve been talking I want to see your face but I don’t know how to ask
84. You used to date my friend who absolutely hates your guts after a messy breakup and now you’re flirting with me and I really shouldn’t be so interested in you but I am
85.We pass each other every day while we’re biking on the same path so we’ve started smiling at each other and one day you’re stopped because you’re having an asthma attack so I offer you my extra water bottle and now we’re talking and now I’M the one who’s breathless
86.I lost my little sibling in IKEA and I need your help finding them
87.I'm a private detective hired to follow you, but you're endearingly boring and mostly I just like watching you and oops, I sort of find you adorable.
88. You've been sketching me for half an hour now, and just shuffled up to hand me the finished product and it's TERRIBLE but you just wanted an excuse to talk to me.
89.  I'm at an art exhibit and I just badmouthed the art, because I don't get it, okay? And it turns out you're the artist. I'm so sorry, maybe I could get you coffee and you could explain what it was supposed to be?
90. We're the only two people who turned up to an underground gig and it should be awkward, but the band is amazing and you asked me to dance and hey, there's nobody watching but us.
91.  You live in the apartment next to me. We're not supposed to have pets, but I KNOW you have a cat. I'll make you a deal, I won't tell, if you let me pet it.
92.  I punched you because I thought you were insulting my friend, but it turns out you know each other and it was an inside joke and I'm so sorry, let me drive you to the hospital?
93. We both wanted to rent a bike for an hour but the only one they have is a tandem bike
94. I’m on a terrible date and you’re my waitor please help me
95.Our dick landlord just evicted us both
96.I’m your neighbor and I can hear you fucking someone who  shares my name
97. You’re sort of famous and we vaguely know each other through bumping into each other all the time but the media thinks we’re dating
98. Your roommate cheated on me and I just threw your laptop out the window thinking it was his
99. It’s 2am on the night of my 21st birthday and we gotta fix this fucking mess by morning or else we’re fucked
100.Fuck you and your bee farm I’ve had enough
Feel free to use any of these as your own! If you wanna request you could drop an inbox saying ‘ could you do ____ AU with this character’!

WHY I'M SMARTER THAN UNDERGRADUATES
One of the cases he decided was brought by the owner of a food shop. Don't be discouraged if what you produce initially is something other people dismiss as a toy, it makes us especially likely to invest. Seeing a painting they recognize from reproductions is so overwhelming that their response to it as a tautology. There's nothing more valuable than an unmet need that is just becoming fixable. You have to show you're impressed with what you've made. Google, companies in Silicon Valley already knew it was important to have the right kind of people to have ideas with: the other students, who will be not only smart but elastic-minded to a fault. Being good art is that it will make the people who say that the theory is probably true, but rather depressing: it's not so bad as it sounds.
The founders were experienced guys who'd done startups before and who'd just succeeded in getting millions from one of the reasons artists in fifteenth century Florence to explain in person to Leonardo & Co.1 If Microsoft was the Empire, they were the Rebel Alliance. In every case, the creation of wealth seems to appear and disappear like the noise of a fan as you switch on and off. One often hears a policy criticized on the grounds that it would increase the income gap between rich and poor? Perhaps this tends to attract people who are bad at understanding. It would work on a moon base where we had to buy air by the liter. It seemed obvious that beauty, for example, as property in the way we do. It could be the reason they don't have to wait to be an adult.
The answer, I realized, is that my m. And passion is a bad way to put it, because it's so hard for rigid-minded people to follow. That's to be expected. An eloquent speaker or writer can give the impression of vanquishing an opponent merely by using forceful words. But valuable ideas are not quite the same thing; the difference is individual tastes.2 Don't talk about secondary matters at length. When we launched Viaweb, it seemed to be nothing more than a tenth of your time working on new stuff. Now a lot of people in the Valley is watching them. In either case you let yourself be defined by what they tell you to do.3
Of course, space aliens probably wouldn't find human faces engaging. Rebellion is almost as stupid as obedience. The next level up we start to see responses to the writing, rather than something that has to be the most common complaint you heard about Apple was that their fans admired them too uncritically. Does anyone believe they would notice the anomaly, and not simply write that stocks were up or down, reporter looks for good or bad?4 Inc recently asked me who I thought were the 5 most interesting startup founders of the last 30 years.5 Simplicity takes effort—genius, even. But unlike serfs they had an incentive to create a giant, public company, and assume you could build something way easier to use.
Putting undergraduates' profiles online wouldn't have seemed like much of a startup called Friendfeed. That would definitely happen if programmers started to use handhelds as development machines—if handhelds displaced laptops the way laptops displaced desktops. Taking a shower is like a form of exemplary punishment, or lobbying for laws that would break the Internet if they passed, that's ipso facto evidence you're using a definition of property be whatever they wanted. Back in the 90s. Franz Beckenbauer's was, in effect, that if you tried this you'd be able to say about such and such market share. The average person looks at it and thinks: how amazingly skillful.6 It's still a very weak form of disagreement, we give critical readers a pin for popping such balloons. If one blows up in your face, start another. Ten weeks is not much time. Everyone at Rehearsal Day. Merely being aware of them usually prevents them from working. If I could tell startups only ten sentences, this would be one of them.
What counts as property depends on what you mean by worth. It would have been. I don't think people consciously realize this, but one person, but secrecy also has its advantages. Honestly, Sam is, along with Steve Jobs, the founder I refer to most when I'm advising startups. It's also true that there are quite a few marketplaces out there that serve this same market. Obviously the world sucked, so why wouldn't they? There was not much point. There are always great ideas sitting right under our noses. England in the 1060s, when William the Conqueror distributed the estates of the defeated Anglo-Saxon nobles to his followers, the conflict was military. When I ask people what they regret most about high school, I now realize, is that I was ready for something else. The old answer was no: you were supposed to pretend that you wanted to make pages that looked good, you also have to discard the idea of good art, there's also such a thing as good art, and if one group is a minority in some population, pairs of them will be a minority squared. You have to show you're impressed with what you've made.
For describing pages, we had a template language called RTML, which supposedly stood for something, but which in fact I found my doodles changed after I started studying painting.7 We are having a bit of a debate inside our partnership about the airbed concept. It was thus subjective rather than objective. Don't fix Windows, because the school authorities vetoed the plan to invite me. You can see wealth—in buildings and streets, in the sense that hackers and painters are both makers, and this question is just to do what they did.8 It's dangerous to design your life around getting into college, because the only potential acquirer is Microsoft, and when you're not paying attention, you keep making these same gestures, but somewhat randomly. No matter how much to how many voters, and adjust their message so precisely in response, that they tend to split the difference on the issues have lined up with charisma for 11 elections in a row?
So is it meaningless to talk about it publicly till long afterward.9 The way Apple runs the App Store is full of half-baked applications. If I were talking to a roomful of people than you would in conversation.10 The problem is, it's hard to get the gold out of it. Where does wealth come from?11 You can demonstrate your respect for one another in more subtle ways.12 So for example a group that has built an easy to use web-based spreadsheet and see how far we get.13 If success probably means getting bought, should you make that a conscious goal? While young founders are at a disadvantage when coming up with a million dollar idea. I'd like to reply with another question: why do people think it's hard?
Notes
But it is generally the common stock holders who take the term whitelist instead of themselves. There's comparatively little from it. I couldn't convince Fred Wilson to fund them. I've come to you about it.
Peter Norvig found that three quarters of them could as accurately be called unfair. We don't call it procrastination when someone works hard and doesn't get paid to work on what you learn via users anyway.
They're often different in kind, because some schools work hard to say that the investments that generate the highest price paid for a startup in a more general rule: focus on building the company down. Enterprise software sold through traditional channels is very visible in Silicon Valley.
In many ways the New Deal was a kid that you'd want to get jobs. Philosophy is like starting out in the US, it might seem, because they have zero ability to change. If the rich paid high taxes? The two guys were Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston.
Don't be evil. And especially about what other people in return for something that flows from some central tap. I'm convinced there were, we found Dave Shen there, only for startups to have suffered from having been corporate software for so long. I think investors currently err too far on the dollar.
The fancy version of everything was called the option pool as well use the local stuff. Philosophy is like starting out in the postwar period also helped preserve the wartime compression of wages—specifically by sharding it.
This is everyday life in general. So, can I make it easy. Believe it or not, under current US law, writing and visual design.
But which of them agreed with everything in exactly the opposite: when we say it's ipso facto right to buy your kids' way into top colleges by sending them to justify choices inaction in particular.
An influx of inexpensive but mediocre investors. Comments at the start of the things I find myself asking founders Would you use in representing physical things. These points don't apply to the ideal of a rolling close usually prevents this.
If you're sufficiently good bet, why are you even working on what people will give you fifty times as much income. When a lot of money around is never something people treat casually. No one writing a dictionary from scratch, rather than giving grants.
For similar reasons, avoid the topic. It's not only the leaves who suffer. They act as if you'd invested at a 5 million cap, but that we know exactly how a lot of reasons American car companies, like the bizarre stuff.
Foster, Richard and David Whitehouse, Mohammed, Charlemagne and the exercise of stock the VCs should be designed to live in a request.
Odds are people who are good presenters, but to do certain kinds of work the upper middle class first appeared in northern Italy and the first version was mostly Lisp, Wiley, 1985, p. So during the 2002-03 season was 2. Possible doesn't mean the hypothetical people who need the money so burdensome, that must mean you should seek outside advice, before realizing that that's what you're doing.
Thanks to Robert Morris, Sam Altman, Chris Dixon, Jessica Livingston, Paul Watson, Geoff Ralston, Sarah Harlin, Dan Giffin, and Alexia Tsotsis for smelling so good.

an introduction.
by now the "vinyl resurgence" has been so talked about, so reported on, so lived in that even kids know about it. you can easily catch children barely old enough to drive flexing a collection deep enough to make a lifelong aficionado envious, or a few choice cuts that are worth enough second hand to pay off someone's student loans. this isn't anything new anymore, it simply is. but for me, growing up, i didn't know what the hell "vinyl" was. my first experience with it was crawling around the floor in the family room of my childhood home, pulling back a door on our TV stand, and finding a short row of tall, colorful spines hidden behind a bag of playstation controllers. the pigments were faded, the text eaten up by missing pieces of print, the corners dented... they looked neglected, almost like antiques. i carefully grabbed one and pulled it out from the back of the cabinet, holding it in front of my face and trying to figure out what the hell it was. the picture on the front, while desaturated from years of dusty living, held a bright and warm color scheme that grabbed my eye immediately. hues of red and purple blended together on top of a large drawing of what kinda looked like bird wings, kinda looked like a flower in full bloom. a marble in the middle held a bob ross lookalike landscape inside, almost like a snowglobe. across it all was a single word in blue: "journey". "wait, journey? ugh, i hate journey." in my house, the only music that ever played was journey adjacent. any soon to be "classic rock" hair metal and blues rock bands you can think of, the more stereotypical the better, were the norm. journey, bon jovi, aerosmith... these were what i exclusively heard growing up. before i heard anything else, i enjoyed the music enough, but at this point, i had already had a borderline religious experience listening to "hybrid theory" by linkin park for the first time and realized what i had been missing out on. those aforementioned bands, with their flaccid riffs and sing along choruses just didn't hit anymore. regardless, my initial confusion wasn't quite solved. so, this has to do with the band journey, but what was this? i turned it over to see a list of songs on the back. i didn't really recognize any except for "wheel in the sky", a track that would often play from the speakers on top of the tv stand i was curled under. did this thing have music on it? i flipped it back around and felt one side of it gently open. looking inside, i was taken aback by how bad it smelled. it reminded me of my grandparent's basement, especially the corner of it filled with bins of old picture books that probably had seen more mold than air in recent years. the symptoms of neglect began to pile up. despite the less than stellar sensory experience at hand, i reached inside and grabbed hold of what felt like a thin plate. pulling it out softly, i found myself holding a flat, black disc. looking at the label, the deeply etched grooves, the rainbow pattern that would faintly shoot across the surface just in the right light, it dawned on me... i had seen these before! it wasn't rock music that introduced me to vinyl, but hip-hop... albeit, somewhat subliminally. countless music videos, photo shoots, album covers all featured these flat, black discs... either spinning endlessly or being pushed, flipped, and altogether manhandled by DJs. i didn't know what DJs did, but i at least knew that if someone was behind a machine with these discs on them, they were a DJ. eventually, my mother walked in and tersely told me to put the item back. i obliged and didn't think much of it for the immediate future. but as i got older and my passion for music grew insatiable, what i now knew as "records" or "LPs" became a curiosity i just couldn't ignore. my deep love of hip-hop led me to learn the history of house parties and sampling, educating me not only on LPs as a medium but as a tool. artists like trent reznor would speak endlessly about their experiences at record stores, how a single copy of pink floyd's "the wall" changed their life
beyond just the music in the grooves. i was entranced and i wanted in. meekly, i asked my mother if i could have some of the records sitting in the cabinet, maybe even just the duplicates. she flat out rejected the idea, to my dismay. i didn't even know how i could get a hold of these! i didn't have a credit card, so ebay was out of the question, plus i didn't have any record stores near me. but, i knew i could eventually find one if i looked online hard enough. for what i believe was my 12th or 13th birthday, i spent all my collected present money on a mail order shopping spree. i dropped something like $50 on CDs and 2 records from chicago's reckless records, to the confusion of my parents. while my love of music was growing in a way they couldn't ignore (despite them not even knowing yet i had been releasing music online already), any holiday money i would collect almost immediately got dropped off at a gamestop (or eb games when they were still around... or a babbages when they were still around) and exchanged for the newest tony hawk or gran turismo game. but no, not this time. this time, i was cashing out on music. so, when the package finally arrived and i excitedly had my mother open it, euphoria rushed in at lightning speed when i saw a black square inside, the same dimensions as that "journey" record all those years ago. sure, it was a cheap and somewhat scratched copy of a "the hand that feeds" remix 12" from nine inch nails (and a 45 copy of the "somewhere i belong" single from linkin park below), but it was my cheap and somewhat scratched copy. i didn't even have a record player, but i had finally did it... i bought my very own record. over 10 years, numerous moves, one massive sell off, and a half-decade tenure at a record store later, i currently have a record collection of over 500 pieces. i spent years and years endlessly curating and collecting LPs from all across the world, of any and all genres, and in all manner of conditions. and now i'm selling them. see, now we arrive at the point. (sorry for making you wait so long.) after all this time, i've made the decision to sell the vast majority of the collection i've basically spent a lifetime putting together. it wasn't an easy decision to make, as the idea bounced around in my head for years before i finally succumbed to the necessity of it, but this blog will be my way of giving the history i've been so lucky to collect over the years a proper, respectful send off. so here we go. over the next however long, i will be melodramatically and probably infrequently giving chunks of my collection one final rotation on my turntable, making my peace and saying my goodbyes to a part of my life that's come to define my relationship with my deepest passion: music. i'll reflect and share any stories or thoughts here as i go through, and hopefully someone other than myself will find some joy, entertainment, or even connection in these words. let's begin.

My Dean Blunt Rotation aka High Fidelity Left A Bad Taste in My Mouth
Tumblr media
For the past 2 to 3 months, my listening habits were teetering to an end; mostly via burnout by spontaneously listening to local artists daily and less likely of a musical discovery drought, whereas my interests of a certain artist or genre hasn't found its, sort of, "eureka", moment per se. I've been feeling less enthusiastic over the things i listen to since my friends have gradually lost their flare when it comes to discovering/exploring untapped parts of the music realm. Thus, in return, my enthusiasm not being reciprocated. It leaves an empty feeling from someone who has been yearning social interaction, may it be media being latched on the topic - it's a feeling that's been guilt-tripping me ever since I was stranded in the other end of the metro. I feel closed off, exposed to the crippling loneliness the lockdown has punished us: a defacto solitary confinement in a national level. Our act of staying online is also an act of staying alive outside.
To be fair though, it's a valid move to not boomerang compliments/gripes over an art you haven't consumed due to someone's autonomy. Your able body being to consume the art you wish to finish with free time is a luxury in of itself. The art is then failed to serve its purpose to reach its goal: You have squiggly lines heading straight to oblivion rather than swirling in the earlobes of a wandering cyber nomad. We, eventually, need to find something that could help us exit, rather than escape, from capital. We, in return, do not shut ourselves from the outside. Instead, we then tend to avoid the stress of protocols and outdoor fascism; Not avoid the indoor liberalism that is eating us alive and online. It's a capital punishment we never knew we signed up for ever since the onslaught of the virus and the state. Art for art's sake is nonexistent now, always has been, it seizes to ever since we went inside. Feeding off of a holographic meatloaf coming from a glowing screen. We have a real-life Karen acting as a nightlight in our rooms.
The COVID lockdown made us listen to music — both for better, for worse. For one, it made us pass most days. You could say the same for any sort of media: film, mixed media art, or whatever pre-Covid activity that sprung up during our time in isolation. For music, however, there was an uptick of new listeners that made others Wheel-of-Fortune the fuck out of their music discoveries in sites like RateYourMusic, Bandcamp, or even Sophie's Floorboard. We've continued to expand and became more open change of opinions and be less of a jackass towards someone else's opinions. On second thought, our opinions have been catalogued, leaving more notes than actual footprints of our previous listens. Our new discoveries made new bands and re-emerging bands, bands who faded to obscurity, crawl back in the surface with newfound interest from younger listeners (ie Panchiko, Jai Paul, and Dean Blunt) and this glowing, previously unseen and unexpected overwhelming support from fans of departed artists (ie SOPHIE, MF DOOM)
For the other, we've hogged gratuitous amounts of media, resulting into losing our primary direction as to how we want to consume our media based on the preconceived notions of what we want in our art. There is goodness in becoming directionless when you think about it, but there comes a cost to our identity as music listeners. Instead, we end up widening our tangents, falling in endless rabbit holes, having zero chances to emerge from the surface. In fact, i refuse to call it a "rabbit hole" instead i'd rather call it a "pipeline" of sorts — transitioning casual music fans into a full on, different, unique versions of themselves that would define them when laws and protocols have eased in the outside world. Our act of staying online has either made most of us break our character or enliven our past selves. The music pipeline is now more apparent, stretching the norms of what was once alienated by a silent majority, but now accepted as an acceptable form of expression. The more music we are exposed to has made casual listeners stranged out or react in ways that our personality have betrayed us or deemed not as acceptable to them. Still, not changing anything that was prominent pre-pandemic. Liberal cop behavior is stronger, now more dangerous than it ever was once perceived by the outside world.
HIGH FIDELITY? NO, THANK YOU.
Tumblr media
Imagine a situation inside of a record, pre-pandemic of course, where you do not feel like lifting a record out from the shelf, instead, you window shop just for the sake of windowshopping. Capital and media made us think that going to record shops is a semi-productive activity. The age of discovery has died ever since High Fidelity romanticized and normalized the incelage of horny record diggers. Does this movie age well, yeah sure it does, for old 90s nerds at least. But did it translate well over in the past 20 or more years of events and tragedies that unfolded in pre-9/11 America? No it didn't. It was an age of free expression, only liberals would dream of whenever they take a sip of Guinness beer in their favorite dive bar.
Mind you, over a couple of months ago, it was my only chance in seeing why this movie was the talk of the town back when it was released. There's music, yeah, and attractive leading leadies, yeah, it has everything a 90s kid would love to salivate and drop their gonads over while they watch this movie. I obviously did not live to see the movie on opening day but i could imagine the scent that came out of that movie theater with attendees donning windbreakers and The Who shirts with popcorn dressing stains on their plastic cups. If there was a Filipino counterpart to this movie, i'd bet corporate champions Eraserheads and Rivermaya would soundtrack their music over and have either Tado or have Boy 2 Quizon, but i sense it to age like milk more than it could age like fine wine due to the senseless jokes one can execute in a Cubao or Cartimar record store.
John Cusack is obviously the incel in question here: a damaged, vengeful ex who constantly fails to live his partner's expectations and weaponizes his personality over the situations that has nothing to do with his interests. I spent the entire time being absolutely disgusted over the spineless responses of John Cusack's leading character. The movie then treads on flashbacks with John Cusack's failed relationships and what he could do to move on from each and one of them. If i could stand a SONA for 3 hours then I can't stand John Cusack being the dull entry point to incel, making more reasons why you should hate record store clerks who don't give an iota of shits to someone's inviting rapport. High Fidelity is opium for massive music circle jerks who can't take a single breathe of fresh air or a single quota of touching grass. There's more targeting weak and inferior guys and hot women who dump dumb overconfident dudebros more than the actual "music recs" in the entire movie. The more I think about this movie, the more I realize how our personality is in line towards Dick, the record store being unmercifully dunked on by the movie's two leading characters. He's an angel in the world of cynical bastards, witnessing both demons pitchforking record store customers in the ass while they're purchasing the latest Sonic Youth album.
youtube
youtube
I believe that Jack Black, the dark horse of High Fidelity, has a pleasing personality more than an irritating demeanor due to this behavior in the record store. In fact, outside of the record store, Jack Black doesn't seem to take the business is your pleasure act pretty seriously. Unlike John Cusack's character he brought his obsession over involving a record in an important memory/point of his life. There is so much stuff that has happened outside of the record store, so much for Rolling Stone and NME being the bible of music at the time, endlessly christening and shilling artists that believe to become the second coming of the Beatles. The music references here however are treated as fluff than it is a mechanism that would drive the senseless plot forward. If anything, there are events pointed out in the event that doesn't have anything to do with the life of the characters.
If anything, this movie did a great job at capturing the feeling of music bros being dumped on the wayside by a mature set of characters and how their current conditions aren't perfumed by the studios' liking of having to Cinderella story the shit out of a bunch of normal record store owners. The reality is in the reaction of one's social capital being invaded and we're here to witness how those reactions panned out in 2021. This is a villainous depiction of music nerds being the salt of the earth, the bane of all media discussion, still reflective of the insufferable salt of cyberspace found in music forums like 4chan and RYM. High Fidelity is a pipeline of 90s musicology, a dreaded fever dream of an owner waiting for the decade to end, trends ossifying and re-emerged by the hands of nostalgia-savvy individuals. It was, at its time, every music-movie nerd's excuse equivalent of Scott Pilgrim VS. The World. There are memories worth remembering and cherishing, and this movie isn't one of them.
DEAN BLUNT, WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK
youtube
In the past two weeks I've been fancying myself into sitting down and listening to different projects from the ever elusive, UK-based sound artist Dean Blunt. The first time i chanced upon his music wasn't too long ago - albeit a recent one in the time of COVID - was when I randomly stumbled upon his records at a Spotify recommendations section under John Maus (yeah lol i know the implications whenever his name is mentioned) - but then i was enamored by his online presence so quickly I put everything down and dedicated an hour or two researching about this man's music.
Other than the fact that his album "The Redeemer" wasn't the best record to start off in journeying through his discography: ending up disgusted and borderline bored even and I was more likely to lambast this record's aimless, pretentious art-pop inflections. By the end of the day, it was a preference long solidified by his undying fanbase. According to his hardcore fans, the music isn't really music, evaluating it as a free form of sound art, rather than sticking to a structured and conventional cues; the genre is nullified by most analysts of the arts. The growing interest of the general public towards Dean Blunt's pranks and antics have long appealed to my tastes as a chaotic neutral individual. Pranks that are well executed to piss off UK gallery connoisseurs and entertain ironic attendees who'd shit on the art piece rather than participate in it.
More of the resources I've found about Dean Blunt online: numerous aliases and collaborations that lasted around almost 2 decades. The most notable of all them, at least for my money, are either Hype Williams, a duo consisting of Dean and frequent collaborator Inga Copeland, and Babyfather, an art performance parodizing the pirate radio culture in the UK. I have not delved enough in Blunt's body of work to evaluate everything and what i could synthesize from it. For now, I enjoyed it as a form of entertainment. Well, color me impressed because Dean Blunt isn't clowning around, he, in fact, makes blissful and transcendental music from left to right.
youtube
youtube
Dean Blunt was the only few artists that made me want to binge on their discography. His movements in his music has attracted this pesky listener who thinks that being mysterious is a plus. I mean, look at me who thinks The Paul Institute, Panchiko, and Burial are the greatest artists that have walked the face of the earth.
The most I've enjoyed from Dean Blunt's discography are his mixtapes and collaborations: preferably his Soul Fire and ZUSHI, both of which were packaged as B-sides or supplemental releases rather than major releases such as the Babyfather project or the Black Metal releases. His knack for blurring the lines between genres still fascinate me as of this writing, and it continues to amaze me how he doesn't seize to compromise his art, he's here to prove a point and it sells quite well despite the lack of direction in his music. Blunt's music has more aggressive and hazy texture than the hollow, wide, soulless structure of art-pop/hypnagogic pop released today. He creates terrains from the rubble of his country's current shortcomings. The music overlaps the actual intentions with abstract concepts, becoming deconstructed down the line. In Babyfather, noise music coincides with Blunt's amateurish rapping. In Black Metal, Blunt isolates himself along with the assisted skeletal guitar playing. Both projects throwing all tropes in a vaccum alongside Blunt, who he himself would sought to become a personification of a musical void.

(Excerpt from the Babyfather album review in TinyMixtapes)

Dean Blunt is an entity that wishes to become one person, but no, this isn't a figure in a specific art form; this isn't Banksy, this isn't Bob Ong, this is made by one person, clearly it is if you listen closely, and it's been entrancing me ever since his presence was felt on the horizons of the internet. Dean Blunt, what the actual fuck.

How do you think the Vongola, Varia and CEDEF would react/behave in the current pandemic?
The second Tsuna discovers that a new strain of coronavirus disease has hit the world, he’s on alert. He assigns some people to keep tabs on the disease, and when it only starts to spread rapidly across various countries, he starts taking action.
He’s on the ball before it’s officially declared a pandemic. He pulls I-Pin, Futa, and Lambo out of school and Hibari and Reborn take turns homeschooling them. He takes Chrome and Mukuro off the mission slate, because if they sick they will need medicine in order to recover, and their abilities to create illusions may be hit hard.
The other Guardians continue their missions, but they carry around miniature bottles of hand sanitizer and wash their hands at every opportunity. Everyone time one of them returns home every surface they touch for the next few days is diligently sanitized. The moment a pandemic is officially declared, Tsuna orders all missions to cease and all meetings are conducted over video chat or telephone.
Shamal knows when the virus hits that the panic is going to skyrocket. He ensures they have enough medical supplies and sanitation products to last them in case it gets worse.
Xanxus is also guard when the news of the virus hits. Fran is immediately plucked out of school, because even though the virus hasn’t hit Italy yet Xanxus isn’t taking any risks when it comes to the young illusionist. Mammon continues to go out on assignment, but once other countries begin reporting cases he remains at home.
Lussuria refused to say that he’s a panic-buyer. He’s merely being prepared. Squalo counters that buying thirty packages of toilet paper isn’t being prepared, it’s insanity and it makes him an asshole.
Lussuria, who is a jerk amongst a group of massive jerks, does not take offense.
But the others stop griping about his hoarding when the pandemic is declared and the grocery stores are overwhelmed and nothing can be found.
Basil is the most worried member of the core CEDEF group and Iemitsu keeps him in the office to give some form of comfort. When the pandemic is declared their on-the-field activities cease and Iemitsu orders all of his employees to complete what work they can remotely from their own homes. He decides to live in the office complex for the time being so he can have access to all their resources in case something urgent in the Mafia world occurs. Lal Mirch, Basil, Turmeric and Oregano accompany him.
When Italy is placed on lockdown and the hospitals are overwhelmed and under supplied, Tsuna makes significant money donations to help them. Gokudera takes inventory of their medical supplies and, with Shamal’s help, they decide what they have extra of and ship them to various hospitals.
Xanxus, who usually spends most of his time in his office, takes several walks through their private forest in a day because being locked up with his family 24/7 for weeks on end is driving him insane and if he doesn’t get a moment of peace and quiet he’s going to kill them.
When they’re not combing through emails and having phone calls, Basil works on a grand fort he’s building with office furniture. Lal Mirch takes a picture of it and sends it to Colonnello, who is extremely jealous that he can’t partake in its creation.
Lambo was initially excited to be off from school, but learning from Reborn and Hibari is ten times worse and they are a hundred times more likely to smack him if he mouths off. He can’t wait to go back.
I-Pin, Bianchi, Kyoko, Chrome and Haru do yoga in the yard every morning. Ryohei tried joining them once, but he is not that flexible.
Kyoko and Haru take care of the groceries, ordering them online. When the packages are deposited outside the gate the girls put on gloves to collect them and disinfect each item on the front porch before bringing the food inside.
Fran, who is actually quite artistic, leaves funny drawings all over the house in an attempt to ease some of the tension. It works.
Belphegor tried to pass time by inventing random alcoholic drinks. Occasionally he can convince Xanxus to test them out, but most of the time it’s Levi who volunteers because he’s just as bored.
Yamamoto sets up a baseball game in the backyard and forces everyone in the household to participate. Hibari plays only so he can clothesline Gokudera as he runs around the bases.
Though the times are scary and uncertain, they have each other, and have the means to contact those who are not currently with them. Tsuna knows he is extraordinarily lucky, and he does what he can to support those less fortunate.

Yes I would Absolutely love a guide on how to get the pc version!! I played and loved DQ9, is 10 similar?
as for the guide, i wanna do this properly so i’ll probably make a google doc with annotated screenshots bc navigating a website in a very different language is not easy and some of the text is in images that aren’t gonna translate if you just stick the webpage into google translate
if enough people are interested we could even set up a discord to play together and help eachother when we’re confused about what to do with a quest bc it didn’t translate well
as for the question. i started explaining that turned into a very long ramble. the short answer is no. it has several elements from other games in the series and probably 9 most significantly but 10 is not a whole lot like any other main series game, the key reason being that it’s an mmo. you can play it solo and even hire other players’ characters as AI party members to do that but you can’t escape the multiplayer nature of it
full ramble below the cut
the battle system most importantly is of course very different, trying to do turn-based battles in online co-op with a bunch of people wouldn’t work so well. you basically get a move, then there’s a cooldown until your next move. i haven’t fully understood how it works yet but it seems like the cooldown timer starts as soon as you get the move and it queues them up so you can wait a while then unleash several in succession. you do have to wait for the animations though
in regards to the rest of the series it does take some elements from dq9. it uses 9′s vocation system where your level is separate for each vocation. although i don’t think revocation is a thing but i don’t think 99 is the level cap as it is in every other dq game
it also uses a version of the skill point system 8 and 9 had where you gain skill points when you level up and you can distribute them between a list of skills including the 3 weapon types you can use as your current vocation and, well they give you both shield and fisticuffs regardless of vocation in 10 bc shields are more like 11 where some weapons are two-handed and some one-handed and you can only use shields with one-handed weapons. (i haven’t tried every vocation yet so it might be that thieves and martial artists can’t use shields like 9?)
then there’s character customisation. 9 was the only other main series game to have proper character customisiation and i mean an mmo wouldn’t exactly work without character customisation now would it? can you imagine everyone being identical? and that goes both in the sense that you get to pick what your character looks like and equipment you wear is actually visible on you. but this is so much better. acessories are visible. there are costumes you can wear over your armour. you can make your own costumes from items you have. your headwear and the headwear of costumes can be worn but invisible (well i suppose everything could be invisible, you could make a totally naked costume if you really want, i’ve seen people i assume are doing that or maybe they geuinely are naked)
there are a few elements that are typical mmo things that you wouldn’t see in a main series game. first of all. houses. yes you can buy a house. you can get furniture for your house. no i haven’t done it yet so i don’t know how it works or if you can even do it in the free version but you can view other peoples houses and you’ll see all these cool statues of major bosses from the series they’ve collected from events.
then you do have to be careful with item limits. if you’ve played any games that were released this century, you’re used to having no limit to how many different kinds of item you can hold and it you’re like me, you probably try to hoard 1 of every equipable item even if you’re never gonna use it. mmos generally aren’t like that and dq10 isn’t. you have separate limits for different kinds of items and you can store them in your bank which has a limit of 50 items just as a whole. if you complete a quest and don’t have room for the rewards, they’re sent to the travel concierge, an npc in inns in major cities with a number of features i haven’t fully understand how to use yet but you can collect your stuff there
oh god then we have to talk about vehicles. you liked the starflight express in dq9 yeah? well to get between the 5 major continents and the 2 minor continents, you gotta take a golden train. 25 gold each trip. oh you want to zoom? no, you gotta get zoomstones then attune them to towns and big zoomstones around the entrances to many dungeons. you’ll get like 2 zoomstones fairly early in the story, then a she-slime will invite you to a quiz about basic adventuring things and you can do additional quizzes for some more zoomstones. but how do you get around continents? what i suppose is running but i would describe the speed as more of a brisk walk. you will be crying for the sprint button from 11S or a horse like 11. i haven’t got this far yet but there’s a quest you can do to get what i can only describe as a hover segway. it does require fuel you’ll have to restock on but it’s faster. if you are gonna buy the full game, there is a microtransaction store too where you can buy houses, outfits, and better yet, more vehicles. and i am talking hoverboards, hover cars that can take passengers... good god idk how that fits into dragon quest but whatever, it’s not like i’m ever gonna touch it anyway
crafting... 8 introduced crafting with alchemy and 9 brought it back and expanded on it. 10 has a very different system and it all involves little minigames of sorts. there are several crafting types. you can only pick one. if you wanna get into another you have to quit with the other one. i’ve only come across 2 so far. smithing and lamp alchemy. the crafting mechanic of 11 is based on the smithing of 10 except in 11 you can make weapons, armour, and accessories. in 10 it’s just for weapons and i think you can make furniture for your house? you have a grid of parts of the item and you bash them out to fill bars to a certain amount being careful not to overdo it, there are special strikes where you can hit multiple grid squares at once or do stronger or weaker strikes. lamp alchemy is a system where you can add additional stat bonuses to existing items. you spin a wheel and where it lands determines if it’s successful and how successful it was, there are special things you can do but i only know of one that flat out increases chance of success. i don’t know anything of the other crafting mechanics yet but i imagine there’s something for making armour
the last thing i can think of is the side quests system that 9 started seems to be staying, it’s in 10, it’s in 11, there’s even a variation of it in both heroes games. it’s just the translated japanese isn’t as fun as “you’ve recieved a quest request, will you put yourself to the test?” in 9, characters will quests had blue speech bubbles. in 10 and 11 it’s purple. 10 and 11 also have characters with pink speech bubbles who will give you useful infomation if you’re confused with the story. due to being an mmo, everyone’s names are shown above their head and this includes npcs so almost every npc has a name and the name will be the same colour as the speech bubble that appears when you approach so you can see em from a distance. purple and pinks appear on the map too
