When I wrote the song, I think I was little drunk. I was supposed to get some rest after coming back to Korea but, we couldn't do that. I had hard time sleeping. So that day, I was praying that I could sleep early whil drinking alone. But I couldn't sleep, so I wrote this song. People said the song is creepy when I asked about it. That the song makes them feel bad. And that was my intention. So I was very proud.

It's been a year since I did one of these posts. Literally, the last time I did a collection post was January 2022. Well it's February 2023 and all the Season 2-era Hot Toys are finally rolling out of Sideshow's warehouse (Hot Toys Cobb is still in the pre-ordering stage but I'm not sure I'm going through Sideshow Collectibles again to get mine).

I wish I could find a backdrop designed for 6th scale figures off of Etsy or have the time and expertise to raid the local Michael's to build my own. I'll just have to live with white shelves with holes in the sides for now (or forever). Hugely tempted to build up a Black Series collection though mainly because there are a TON of Black Series-sized backdrops and props being sold all over Etsy. But they don't do it for me like the Hot Toys do.

CASE IN POINT, the new Din and Grogu dropped a few weeks ago which has led to a billion and a half golden photoshoot opportunities. Now I'm just waiting impatiently for the Mandalorian-era Luke to finally show up so that I can continue being fucking unhinged with posing against unremarkable backdrops.

Money well spent? I fucking hopethink so.

Obi-Wan surviving the Death Star has now become infinitely more interesting as an AU tbh!!

Leia would likely allow herself to be a lot more emotionally vulnerable about Alderaan and her parents all while being more than slightly annoyed that she has to share Ben with this random farm boy who's latched onto *her* old tired beat up Jedi - up to the point she figures out Luke is her brother of course. Because with how discerning Leia is, there's absolutely no way Obi-Wan would ever be able to hide that he's not telling her the full truth about Luke (and probably Vader). I imagine Luke would feel very overwhelmed and probably more than a bit overshadowed, because suddenly he's got a brilliant sister who has a prior relationship with the guy he thought he was going to be mentored by, and he's obviously going to compare himself to her constantly and that might hinder his own growth a bit (they'd overcome it of course, probably bond over being suddenly orphaned adoptees, but imagine learning that LEIA ORGANA is your sister and also bffs with the old hermit you wanted to adopt as your weird uncle). 

I feel like Obi-Wan having to juggle Luke's training, supporting Leia as a General, helping them both navigate their newfound sibling relationship and listening to Leia rant about how annoying Han is - all of that with Qui-Gon making comments, Chewie commiserating and R2 being a menace - has unparalleled comedic potential.

i’m rewatching tmd2 to deal with the loss of tmdgc 😔 but y’all don’t understand how feral this scene gets me every time. jesse is one of the ducks, if not the duck, who - before this point - always seems so sure of himself and every decision he’s made. he’s the leader, the one who put himself between a possible drug dealer and the team to protect district 5. the one (and the first) who tells bombay to take his shit elsewhere. the one who holds banks accountable for his past bullying. the one who tells russ to stop heckling his team. 

but when bombay apologizes in d2, jesse - for the first time - doesn’t know what to do with it. he’s not 100% convinced of bombay’s motives and doesn’t trust him anymore. he hesitates. and district 5/the ducks have always followed him--hell, they’re in the middle of a hockey game and no one dares to make a move because jesse won’t start the flying v. which isn’t realistic at all because hockey is so fast-paced but whatever!

what does jesse do? he looks at charlie. and charlie immediately understands, and tries to encourage him to make a move because he knows jesse’s conflicted. idk idk!! it just speaks volumes of the trust jesse has for charlie. like, jesse’s still looking at charlie when goldberg tells him to “just do it”, and then they look at each other later when bombay says “ducks fly together”!!! their friendship is so often overlooked but they are the moment!!!

so the latest episode of kenobi has me thinking about the droids of star wars. because like, droids have been and always will be such important characters in the star wars universe, but the last scene with NED-B truly made me get emotional. 

because what star wars does brilliantly is make us love droids. other media i find, more so now than ever, loves to paint our future with robots and droids as a horror. evil machines taking over. but here is star wars, over and over again going, ‘nah’. it starts obviously with R2 and C3PO, our tenacious originals, who are painstakingly loyal to first anakin, then to obi-wan and then leia and luke. who do everything in their power to help them, against all odds. then we got BB8, tiny yet brave. and then we get these amazing droids who were once programmed to be, but then changed for the better like K2SO! who is like if R2 could talk but maybe twenty times more done with everything, but still willing to do anything for his friends. or IG-11, who ends up doing very much the same. and now NED-B, a droid that would go lengths for this fledgling rebellion. hiding jedi, ready to bash some stormtroopers to protect a little girl. giving his friend cover in a hail of blasterfire at the end of his life. and thats only to name a few!

and droids in star wars find a way to be even more human than the human characters at times. ever defiant and most of which don't even have the ability to speak, but can still grasp at our hearts. and i think on droids serve as really good story-telling, metaphorically, that anyone can have a second chance. that we are more than “programming”. that anyone, even synthetic, can fight for what’s good and have boundless love and compassion.
