A lone death jester stands centre stage, lit by a solitary spotlight. Next to him stands his obviously kidnapped imperial guardsman assistant, Jimothy. An audience of drukhari, harlequins and flayed ones watch with rapt attention. The death jester waves his hands about in a mystical fashion, then grabs Jimothy by the scalp and forearm. With a single, instantaneously smooth motion, like a waiter pulling the cloth off a table, he rips off all of Jimothy’s skin in one largely intact sheet. The action is so flawless that Jimothy’s clothes are still on. He is silent for a moment, then screams in several kinds of horror and immediately expires. The crowd go wild. The jester does an exaggerated bow, twirling Jimothy’s entire dermis and epidermis on one finger like pizza dough. He spins away from the audience and tosses the lot into their frenzied mass, bridal bouquet style. The jester sprints backstage as violence erupts. A mad scramble to claim Jimothy’s skin ensues.

This line is 10x funnier to me this time around because just before we got to this dialogue, not only did Heinrix accidentally summon a Screamer instead of killing Vyatt with Purged Soul like Cas told him to, on the next turn, both were immediately killed by the random Aeldari Guardians who came to help out. Humiliating. I never want him to recover from the embarrassment.

in the mood to post works in progress today so here I'll introduce you to my Harlequin and Death characters (not just because I realized there is nothing in the tag I made for them LOL)
they started as a doodle inspired by similar paintings by Konstantin Somov but now I draw them in so many situations they've taken on a life on their own. The underlying theme every time is that The Harlequin taunts Death with his foolish actions, yet Death can never seem to get a chance to take his soul away. Chaos ensues :D
first pic is one of their many meetings, second is alternate outfits for the Harlequin, third is Harlequin urging Death to drink (ignore my google translate Italian lol), and the last time I drew them was in a cowboy au type thing xD

With the sad news of Kevin Conroy’s passing, at the young age of 66, I took the opportunity to finally enact my plan of painting this Death Jester as the Clown Prince of Crime. Whenever I read a Batman comic he was the voice I heard in my head when it was Bruce/Batman/Matches Malone. It needs some tidying up but at least it’s started.

Cursed and Blessed Death Jesters?
Yes. All of it. At the same time.
Makes you a sweater. Sweater is made from human hair. Dances for you when you’re sad. Dance is actually a retelling of Slaanesh’s kill count during the Fall. You say you’re cold. Death Jester lights a random dude on fire, lays him tenderly next to you, and hands you some marshmallows. You’re lonely. Jester pours live woodlice all over you.
They are very helpful, thoughtful people, but also horribly off kilter about it.
