I just want Loki being friends with reader and Bruce. I want everyone being on edge and Jane fucking tackle hugging him. I want people being awkward at breakfast then Thor/Loki says/does something and then the other going into a whole rant about ‘oh when we were kids- don’t get me sTARTED.’ I want cute banter. I want Val and Loki being dumbasses while all the Avengers embody confusion in a physical form. Is that too much to ask? 😩 (not to come off as rude tho. Sorry, I love your blog 💕 :))

A/N: A bit of this was extremely similar to some of the other prompts I’ve done lately, so I put a bit more focus on other parts of the prompt. This is the last pre-Loki show prompt, and for the first time in YEARS, my inbox is empty. I’ll be posting later today about when my askbox will be open again. In the meantime, enjoy this short little blurb to tide you over until new Loki content tonight~
Loki was perhaps the biggest source of confusion for almosteveryone at the Compound. Or at least, everyone that didn’t know them like youdid.
Often, some of them couldn’t see past the things Loki haddone. Sending the Destroyer to kill Thor, the Chitauri attack in New York. Theyweren’t so easily convinced that Loki was just good now, and while Thor had assured them that Loki would be ontheir best behavior under threat of death (you still weren’t sure if that was ajoke or if he really meant it), most of them had still yet to take the time to actually try to get to know Loki andunderstand everything they had been through.
But yourfriendship had come easily. While you had been wary, just as everyone else had,you approached Loki with an open mind. You knew people could change, andassumed that Gods could do the same, too. After all, Thor and Valkyrie seemedto find happiness in Loki’s company, and they were possibly the two mostaffected by their shenanigans throughout their history together. So you’d madeit a priority to get to know Loki, and talk with them and involve them when theothers didn’t.
And the rest had been history.
One of your favorite things to do was sit in on Loki andBruce discussing physics together. You’d never considered that Loki would besomeone that was interested in science of any sort, but when they’d bothexplained that magic was, more or less, science that just hadn’t quite beenfigured out yet, you understood a little more. It was always fun to listen tothem speak together, often getting so excitable when one of them made abreakthrough that they would all but yell in excitement, something you nevergrew tired of watching.
And breakfasts were primebickering between Thor and Loki hours, due to the fact that Loki was an extremely light breakfast eater whileThor could and would eat anything and everything put on his plate, and thensome.
“Brother, are you ever nothungry?” Loki would almost always ask, seconds away from pinching the bridge oftheir nose.
“Are you ever not nothungry?”
This was always met with a heavy sigh and an eye roll.
“That doesn’t make any sense, you oaf.”
“It makes perfect sense, what do you mean?”
“If you’re going to eat like one, maybe I should turn youinto a pig. How does that sound? Would you like that, brother?”
That was a newresponse, and everyone in the roomwas looking back and forth between the two of them, waiting to see what wouldhappen next.
“You mean like the time you turned me into a frog? Hey Y/N,did I ever tell you about the time Loki turned me into a-”
“NO. No. We willnot be doing that today, thank you, brother.”
“…but I wanted to hear the story…” you whined, and theentire table erupted into laughter.
But perhaps the entire Compound’s most favorite form ofentertainment was watching Loki and Valkyrie get into the most absolutely ridiculous shenanigans while drunk.
It always started the same way, with Loki and Val trying tohave a drinking contest to see who could drink more the fastest. Most of youthought this was hardly a contest at all, with the way Val could down drinksand hardly even be bothered by them. But pairing that with the fact that Lokiwas hilariously the lightest-weightdrinker that had ever existed across all Nine Realms, it never failed to serveas a source of entertainment to see Val make her way through several drinksstoically while Loki struggled to stand upright after just one shot of Asgardian liquor.
And of course, afterthey got drunk was even more entertaining.
They would try to do the most mundane things, like do apuzzle or play card games with the rest of the team, who would be minorlybuzzed at best, by that point, and would be so absolutely out of it that they’dhave to work together on the same team to get anything done.
But even when they were sober, they were the most chaoticduo you’d ever laid eyes on.
“Val, do you think you’d survive a jump from this height?”Loki had called once from where they stood outside of the Compound, and ithadn’t been until you had looked all the way up at the top of the building thatyou saw Val sitting on the edge of the roof, swinging her legs without a carein the world.
“We’re Asgardians, you absolute dipshit, of course I can. Watch me.” And sure enough, she’d hoppeddown from her spot, and landed only a littleungracefully, catching herself with her hands before straightening up,grinning smugly all the while. “Beat that.”
“I don’t think I’ve had nearlyenough alcohol for that today, thankyou.” Loki had crossed their arms over their chest then, nose turned up in the prissiest expression you had ever seen.
“Chickenshit.”
“Dumbass.”
“Whiny little baby.”
“Drunk littlebaby.”
“Take it back!”
“You first!”

Okay, no clue if I can send in multiple prompts, so no pressure, you don’t have to reply to this one.
But maybe Kanera with soulmates, rescue (maybe even fix-it 👀👀) As you can see I’m a sucker for soulmate AUs🧍‍♀️💀
Alrighty, this isn't EXACTLY a soulmate au, but it came to me and I have ZERO self control around domestic Kanera, so let's go!!!
Pairing: Kanan Jarrus/Hera Syndulla
Word Count: 1,592
Tags/Warnings: Rated G (for me getting ridiculously sappy today)
“One more story?”
Kanan shook his head. “Not tonight, Jacen. I told your mom I'd have you in bed before she was home.”
“I don’t want to go to bed until she’s home, though,” Jacen said. “I want to say goodnight to her.”
Brushing a hand over his son’s hair affectionately, Kanan said, “I know, kiddo. But your mom will string me up if you’re still awake when she gets back. You’re up late enough as it is.”
Jacen let out a theatrical sigh, and Kanan heard him shifting his weight in bed as he clearly considered his next maneuver. He couldn’t help but repress a smile at it-- the kid’s tenacity came straight from his mom. Although Hera would claim he inherited it from Kanan.
“What time does Mom get home from the appointment again?” Jacen asked.
“She’ll be back around ten-thirty, as you already know,” Kanan reminded him. “That was a really bad stalling technique. Time for bed.”
“No! Tell me another story,” Jacen begged. “Tell me about when you first met Mom.”
Kriff. The kid knew his weak spot. “Jacen…”
“Just this story, then I’ll go to bed. Please?”
Letting out a sigh, Kanan said, “Okay. But only one more, and then you’re going to sleep. Got it?”
Jacen let out an excited yelp, bouncing up and down in bed. “Yes! I promise.”
“Good, now lay back down,” Kanan ordered. “You’ve got to at least pretend you’re going to try and fall asleep after this.”
Immediately squirming back down under the covers, Jacen lay still obediently, and Kanan felt himself smiling as he paused for a minute to collect his wits for the story. If he was being honest, he loved telling this story.
“The first time I met your mother, I was on a backwater planet called Gorse. Now, the planet wasn’t much to look at, but the moon was the most beautiful thing I’d ever seen.”
“Until you met Mom,” Jacen jumped in, and Kanan nodded.
“Exactly. So, I was working as a pilot, flying explosives to the mine at that point. Wasn’t a safe job, wasn’t a smart job. But I didn’t really care back then. I didn’t care about much of anything. Until one night, when I was heading out of this old tapcafe where I’d been eating dinner, and I heard it.” Kanan tilted his head to the side, closing his eyes and imagining the moment with a soft smile.
“What was it?” Jacen asked, as he always did, his voice dramatically curious.
“The most incredibly beautiful voice,” Kanan said, his own voice equally dramatic. “It was soft and warm, so totally unlike Gorse and everything I’d ever come to expect about the galaxy. The minute I heard that voice, I knew there was something worth living for. And at the moment, it was finding out what kind of woman had a voice like that.”
“So you went after her,” Jacen supplied.
“I did-- after I paid my bill, of course,” Kanan said. “Side note, never run out on a bill from a Besalisk with anger management issues. Anyway, I went to find her, but she’d disappeared, like she was some kind of dream. For a while there, I almost thought she was one. Until--”
“You heard her again!”
“Hey, who’s telling the story?” Kanan gave Jacen a mock stern frown.
“Sorry,” Jacen said, his tone making it clear he was grinning. “I won’t interrupt again.”
“I should hope not,” Kanan said sternly. “But yeah, I heard her again. And, typical of your mother, she was about to get in a brawl with a gang.” As he spoke, he heard the door to the bedroom creak open, and stifled a smile as he kept talking. “So I rushed in to save the day.”
“Oh, did you?” Hera’s voice came from behind Kanan, and he could no longer hold back his smile as Jacen let out an excited yelp.
“Mom!!! You’re home!!”
Kanan ducked just in time to avoid Jacen as the boy launched himself out of bed and at his mother. Catching him, Hera hugged him, and gently set him to the ground. “What are you still doing up, sweetheart?” she asked, pressing a kiss against his forehead. “As if I didn’t know,” she added, directing a look at Kanan that he didn’t need eyesight to decode.
“You don’t know what he threatened me with,” he said, shooting a wink at Jacen. “It was brutal, Hera. You almost lost your husband tonight-- and how would you feel if you came home and your son had committed patricide?”
Hera let out a scoff that was very clearly hiding a laugh. “You’re full of it, dear.”
“Full of love for you,” Kanan said, grinning, and that pulled a laugh out of her.
Stepping forward, she set Jacen onto his bed. “Okay, get back in bed, Jacen. Your father will finish his story, and then it’s time to sleep. Got it?”
“Okay, Mom.” Jacen snuggled back under the covers, and Kanan began his story again.
“As I was saying, your mom was about to get in a fight with a gang of ten, fifteen beings. But little did I know as I started to charge forward to save the day, I was right next to one of the most competent and incredibly talented women I’d ever met. She started fighting right along with me-- handled more than half of the gang, I might add,” Kanan said with a grin.
Hera, who’d settled next to Kanan, chipped in, “Meanwhile, your dad got tackled through a window.”
“Who’s telling the story here?” Kanan demanded, and Hera let out a quiet laugh as she leaned into him, resting her cheek against his shoulder.
“Sorry, love. Keep going.”
Turning back to Jacen, Kanan said, “Anyway, once I finished my fight, I made my way back to where your mom had been-- and there was no one there. Just the cloak she’d dropped when the fight began.
“But when I picked it up and turned around, there she was. The most beautiful woman I’d ever met.” Kanan paused for a moment, a soft smile crossing his face. “I was spellbound immediately.”
“Meanwhile, I was wondering what this scruffy gunslinger was doing with my cloak, and why he was staring at me,” Hera said wryly. “I took off, despite his attempts to follow me or convince me to stay.”
“But then you met him again at that bar,” Jacen said.
“And from there, I found myself dragged into shenanigan after shenanigan with this woman,” Kanan said with a teasing grin. “Somehow, she convinced me to help her save Cynda and Gorse from that psychopath, Count Vidian. Long story short, we ended up on an exploding Star Destroyer together. And that’s when I actually saved your mother’s life.”
“True,” Hera said softly. “I still remember when I saw you use the Force for the first time. You were the last person I would have expected to be a Jedi back then.”
“Well, that was the point,” Kanan said.
“But he’s still a good Jedi,” Jacen said. His voice was growing steadily sleepier as he spoke.
“One of the best,” Hera said.
“I had my moments,” Kanan agreed. “But one of the best things I ever did was save you then. You know, kid, in some cultures, they say that when you save someone’s life, that means they’re your soulmate, that you’re meant to be together.”
“Is that true?” Jacen asked, letting out a huge yawn.
Kanan shrugged. “Who can say? I would have married your mom regardless. Now, time for you to go to sleep.”
As he and Hera rose to their feet, Hera dropping a quick kiss onto Jacen’s forehead, Jacen let out another yawn. “Night, mom. Night, dad.”
“Good night, sweetheart,” Hera said as she switched off the light, and the two of them slipped out of Jacen’s room.
Kanan gently closed the door behind them, then turned to Hera. “Hey. How’d your appointment go?”
“Pretty well,” Hera said, catching him by the hand and leading him away from Jacen’s room and into the living room. “The doctor said that I didn’t have a stomach bug, but there were a couple other tests she wanted to do on me.”
“Oh?” Kanan kept his voice calm, but he could feel his heart rate pick up. They hadn’t been sure when Hera had gone in, but he had a feeling… “What were the results?”
Giving his hand a quick squeeze, Hera said softly, “Why don’t you check for yourself?”
Kanan needed no further encouragement to reach out with the Force towards Hera, sensing her usual bright spark of warm life. And then, somehow within it and separate from it, there was another one. Another life form, tiny but insistent.
“Oh, wow,” Kanan breathed, awe sweeping over him. “Hera-- you’re--”
“Pregnant,” Hera finished, and Kanan could hear the vibrant joy in her voice. “You were right, love. We’re having another baby.”
Kanan felt a grin spreading across his face, and he pulled his wife into a fierce embrace. “This is amazing,” he whispered, pressing a kiss against her temple. “I can’t wait to meet her.”
“Or him,” Hera corrected. “Even you can’t tell this early, Master Jedi.”
“I have a feeling about it,” Kanan said with a smirk, and he felt rather than heard Hera’s laugh.
Pulling back from him slightly, she said, “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” Kanan murmured, and bent down to give her a kiss. “Both of you,” he added.

Introducing Rose! Sans, an UNDERTALE Out! Code character— a character who lives outside the boundaries of their AU (if they have one) and wanders across the multiverse.
BACKSTORY:
Rose! Sans was created with one sole purpose; wander and observe each and every AU.
He fulfills his duty to soothe his hungry, yearning curiosity for adventure, as well as gathering essential information for his creator, a fandom fanatic named Miss Rose, who is in the process of making a logbook of every UNDERTALE AU in the multiverse. This special logbook would serve as a future book of inspiration for Miss Rose, who plans on making the perfect AU for Rose! Sans using all the concepts and ideas gathered from all the other AUs.
Rose! Sans currently does not have his own AU, so he spends his free time (when he’s not on duty) in a personalized void he calls “The Garden of Memories”, which in short is a void filled with a vast stash of items, antiques and other bizarre things he found in his adventures in other AUs. Miss Rose also spends her time in the void, usually chatting with Rose! Sans or filling her logbook with a cup of tea by her side.
Rose! Sans, when fulfilling his work in wandering and observing AUs, he cannot, at any cost, interact with any of the AUs’ characters. This might result in the AU changing their course of storyline due to the realization of his presence and may possibly end up ruining the AU itself.
He usually spends his time in the shadows, hidden from sight from the characters, and sneaks stealthily around the little nooks and crannies of the AU. He sketches out in a little note pad the environment of each location in the AUs and notes the general themes displayed in all of them, as well as exploring hidden secrets in each tiny spot. His favourite places to spend his time are in the Waterfall areas of the underground of the AU, as it makes him feel at ease and at peace with himself, helping him calm down from his sometimes overwhelming job.
He observes each character from afar, writing down quick notes on their dialogues and their unique attitudes and behaviourism. He often feels lonely knowing he could never talk or even be noticed by to them, despite him knowing and relating so much to them, but he perseveres despite his yearns to be heard and carries on. He’s not completely alone, however, as he has Miss Rose and other Out! Codes he can talk to.
Miss Rose, one day, hesitantly accepted Rose! Sans’s pleads to interact with the Out! Codes, and after her millionth worried mom lecture on how he should be careful around them since they’re the most powerful beings in the multiverse and blah blah blah, he was free to interact with them. Like a child being allowed to a sleepover, Rose! Sans squealed with glee and quickly headed off to see his future Out! Code allies…
PERSONALITY (TL;DR at end of section):
Rose! Sans a naturally curious individual, and he always looks forward to adventures that may come his way. He’s not reckless, however, since he is quite prudent when it comes to putting himself or others in danger, an example being not being seen by characters in other AUs to maintain harmony in the AU.
Rose! Sans sometimes thinks a bit too highly of himself, and he may come off as a bit of a bragger due to him being showered with love and praise from Miss Rose all the time, as well as the underlying fact that he’s been on his own for most of his life, but he does genuinely care for the people close to him and he puts his needs aside to help others in dire need. This strong loyalty makes him a bit gullible at times, due to him not having much social experience with others as he cannot pick up a few undertones and red flags in discussions, making him an easy prey to manipulative enemies and an annoyance to sarcastic people.
Rose! Sans is a very talkative and is an overall energetic individual, yet surprisingly and contradictorily enough, he’s shy. He, due to not having talked to many people, can come off as a bit aloof and snobby at first, but once you get to know and understand him better, he slowly reveals his secret bubbly and ecstatic self, almost completely changing his behaviour towards others in the span of a few hours. With mutual acquaintances or strangers, he acts very awkwardly and can come off as strange. Due to him only having few but very close friends, he puts all his efforts into them and can be too trusting, which is yet another thing that manipulators can take advantage of.
Rose! Sans is a good listener and can empathize well with others (even despite his small narcissistic hints) since his whole purpose is to observe, so if you ever need someone to vent to, he’s here. He’ll happily keep your secrets, too!
TL;DR: Overall, Rose! Sans is a curious, adventurous, energetic, sometimes naive and braggy, but caring individual who is loyal to the bone!
RELATIONSHIPS:
Miss Rose:
Rose! Sans has a mother-son and best-friend relationship with Miss Rose, him being her own creation, after all. They’re very at ease in each other’s presence and they often joke and poke fun around their void, talking joyously about everything and of nothing. Their favourite thing to do together is obsess over various films and fandoms by chatting non-stop about their character crushes. They both like to draw together and occasionally write stories of the things they’ve seen in the multiverse.
Miss Rose, being a motherly figure to Rose! Sans, often gets worried and anxious for the safety of her creation and frequently gives him many lectures and incessant questioning about the dangers of the multiverse, much to Rose! Sans’ annoyance. He doesn’t mind them that much but he often wishes she would just get the hint that he’s gotten the point and stay quiet. Still, he loves her nonetheless and they continue on with their bizarre shenanigans without a care in the world.
Ink! Sans (created by @myebi ):
He and Ink! Sans are almost like brothers and they like to hang out with each other. Much like Rose! Sans and Miss Rose, they are at ease with each other’s presence and they both serve as each other’s playmate and occasional partner-in-crime. The two of them like to participate in artistic activities, mostly drawing and writing, but recently, Ink! Sans has introduced him to the basics of playing the flute. Rose! Sans is not very good at it yet, but he’s slowly getting there!
Both of them like teasing Error! Sans and playing around with him, much to Error’s already ongoing deep frustration with Ink, but Rose! Sans still maintains a healthy friendship with him, unlike Ink! Sans. He finds himself being the peacemaker between the two when things get too heated between the creator and the destroyer, and he ends up being the one cleaning the mess they make during their fights. He wishes sometimes they could just get along, and has at multiple occasions tried to get them to be friendlier, yet despite his efforts, it truly never works out and ends up in disappointment.
Rose! Sans has never been a victim to Ink! Sans’s empty and emotionless side, since they have been on pretty good terms most of the time, but he feels unnerved and actually a bit frightened when he sees that side of him in action, mostly during his and Error’s fights. He tries not to aggravate Ink! Sans when it happens and maintains his distance. He doesn’t hold this side against him, though, since he knows it’s uncontrollable. He lets Ink! Sans vent to him when his emotion-vials are refilled and if sadness gets the best of him.
Overall, they are good friends and they help each other grow.
Error! Sans (created by @loverofpiggies )
At first, the two of them never really interacted since Rose! Sans only really met him when Ink! Sans properly introduced him to Error, so before that, they only glanced and waved (Rose! Sans waved) when they saw each other. Then, Rose! Sans, after being introduced, became a mutual friend of his and they would occasionally chat about what they were doing in the multiverse. Rose! Sans is not very fond about what Error! Sans does with his duties, being in disapproval about the fact he destroys AUs, which can be a hassle for him when he works on discovering AUs, but he lets him be and accepts him for that. Error! Sans finds him a bit of a tiresome person when he doesn’t get his sarcasm since he can’t pick up undertones in social discussions, but he doesn’t mind much. They didn’t interact much aside from those infrequent chats.
Once Rose! Sans and Ink! Sans started playing around with Error! Sans, the two became closer in a regard that they saw each other more often and they talked more, despite Error! Sans being annoyed by him. Error! Sans grew to respect him after a bit when he realized it was Rose! Sans who prevented a lot of the arguments between him and Ink! Sans, which was a great relief to Error at times when he got extremely tired of seeing him. Rose! Sans respects his stoic and introverted nature, and he admires his quiet and peaceful lifestyle in the Antivoid.
Rose! Sans can intuitively detect when Error! Sans needs his space or when he needs to vent, which makes the both of them on good terms since Error! Sans feels that someone finally understands him. Similarly, Error! Sans understands the pain Rose! Sans feels when he can’t talk to anyone he’s seen due to his work, since he too is solitary in his work, and he helps him deal with that. During their vents, they’re normally in Outer! Tale, their favourite AU, looking up at the stars and sobbing it out. They care for each other and are there to comfort one another when the other feels lost or down.
They’re close friends and they help each other when they’re in despair.
Dream! Sans (created by @jokublog )
Rose! Sans and Dream! Sans have a mutual relationship.
Rose! Sans was introduced to him by Ink! Sans, and the two of them found one another pleasant (though Rose! Sans found Dream! Sans a bit too happy for his likes), yet they never truly established a concrete friendship unlike Rose! Sans and Error! Sans. Maybe this was because they never really talked after that since they were so busy with their other works that they didn’t get the time to talk. This means that, since they’re a mutual relationship, Rose! Sans would turn shy with him.
As they drifted, whenever Rose! Sans saw him, he would act aloof or awkward in his presence and would often slip with his words on accident. Dream! Sans finds this strange but never really thought much of it, assuming maybe he had a crush on him or he was just like that normally.
Overall, they are neutral and don’t have many social ties.
Paperjam (created by 7goodangel)
Rose! Sans and Paperjam find each other interesting and they admire one another from afar. Rose! Sans originally discovered him on his own when exploring the Antivoid, and they both just stared at each other for a bit before Rose! Sans initiated conversation. It took a while for the two of them to open up, the both of them being not socially developed— Paperjam being hardheaded and Rose! Sans being awkward— but after a bit of chatting, they found that they liked each other a lot and grew to be good friends.
Rose! Sans admires him since he’s looking for self-discovery after his creation from Error and Ink! Sans, and he supports his perseverance all the way. He admires his stubbornness and finds him cute when he tries impossible stunts. He let Paperjam vent about his past, and Paperjam found that he was one of the only people to actually care for him, so now he happily treats him like a big brother.
Paperjam admires Rose! Sans’s work, finding it cool and fun and dangerous, and wishes to join him on his adventures. Rose! Sans always profusely refuses to let Paperjam come for the sake of his own safety and the AU’s, but Paperjam will never. stop. insisting. He also admires Rose! Sans’ empathy and energy, and he likes playing with him and sketching in the Antivoid.
Rose! Sans once took Paperjam to The Garden of Memories, which was originally very precisely organized, and let’s just say that it ended up looking like a dumpster by the end of it… very messy.
Miss Rose and Rose! Sans gave Paperjam a little angry chastisement about his recklessness, to which Paperjam rudely rolled his pinpricks to, but he soon truthfully apologized and helped fix it back to the way it was before his storm of craziness. Since then, Rose! Sans and Miss Rose have given him tips on proper social conduct. He has since learned to be slightly more polite and good-mannered, though he still remains as heardheaded as usual.
Overall, Paperjam and Rose! Sans have a brotherly friendship, with Rose! Sans serving as a big-brother figure to Paperjam.
(More characters and information will be added soon! My hands are starting to get tired, plus this post is getting too long… 😅)

random thought of mine, which clone do you think would have the best singing voice? Ik they’re clones so they all sound the same fmdndn but still. i think jesse or echo maybe?
jesse would be such a beautiful singer, not a doubt in my mind. his voice is velvety, a bit husky with a hard punch of power. i’ve entertained this thought on multiple occasions and will one day write smth with singing jesse.
echo though? akhdkshkakdj i never thought abt him singing before now but i can totally see it, his voice being a bit less gritty than jesse’s but with a smidge more range and a clearness that rivals the scarif oceans.
gonna send thank-you’s to @obiorbenkenobi and @hxldmxdxwn for letting me ramble abt this post on discord at ungodly hours.
i made a playlist for this almost-au as well!!! find it here, and i’ll soon add it to my spotify shenanigans.
now enjoy me going into more detail abt these two boys than anyone asked for:
Tumblr media
genre-wise i think jesse would be a bit more cocky and playful with his go-to songs, and he will dominate the stage with his godlike dancing every time he’s given the chance;
radar love by the golden earring - this is the song he first gets the confidence to dance to. once the crowd goes wild for it and he realizes how much he enjoys moving around, he keeps on doing it. there’s this one thing he does that’s like, um, jolting/bouncing (not sure how else to describe it) but the crowd thinks it’s great when he does it.
sexbomb by tom jones - his dancing here is utterly erotic and he knows how attractive it is, holy kriff. it’ll bring the entire bar staff to a standstill bc damn look at his hips go, sex god much??? most definitely grinds against the mic stand and gfgalkdfjghlkf it never fails to fluster quite a few patrons (this will soon be a full-fledged fic so keep your eyes open)
no mr. nice guy by alice cooper - he jokes sometimes that he was actually quite peaceful as a cadet before joining the five-oh-first. it isn’t a joke tho and you can blame fives and hardcase for making him go wild. but this song makes him think of when he stopped caring abt trying to impress the longnecks and he enjoys hitting the higher notes.
rock the casbah by the clash - this is where he learns to snap his hips to every “rock” with a bit extra force. the crowd has a blast clapping along, some of the more drunk people screeching “the shareef don’t like it!” at the top of their lungs. it’s upbeat
rock this town by the stray cats - he’s having a damn good time with this song, a lot of elvis presley vibes. if he had enough hair he’d flip it. he does a bit of air guitar and will sway his mic stand around and bounce his knee to the beat.
strutter by kiss - he loves this one, it’s a personal favorite. he;ll be running his hands down his body when he’s still, but the times he’s walking around the stage he’s got a hand on his swinging hips, literally strutting. it’s so fun to watch him embrace the music
bad to the bone by george thorogood & the destroyers - a joking request from fives that turned into a crowd favorite. fives didn’t think his vod could do it but jesse rose to the occasion as he charmed his way through the song with his fun swagger and playful air sax. he drank quite a bit of water after this one bc he was unused to using as much gravel in his voice as this song took, but he enjoys it nonetheless.
Tumblr media
echo would be softer with his choices, leaning more towards soulful and sweet in comparison to jesse’s wild side. he also plays both guitar and piano, i take no criticism on these points;
the night they drove old dixie down by the band - he plays this one after a rough mission and it’s deeply resonating with everyone there, everyone either putting down their drinks to let the song flow thru them, or grab something stronger to let it lull them into inebriation.
no plan by hozier - he sounds so beautiful with literally any hozier song tbh, but this one is his favorite. this was the closest he got to smth soulful before the times he duetted with jesse and he really enjoyed it. it was smooth yet passionate and is one he sang for the first time when dejected and unsure abt his future.
piano man by billy joel - he plays the piano for this song & kriff did it take him a while to both master it and find someone that played the harmonica well enough to join him. this is rex’s favorite song to hear echo play and will hum it quite often. echo enjoys throwing himself into playing this one in a way he doesn’t often do & he’s called “the piano arc” the first time he plays it. the nickname sticks but he likes it, so no harm done.
amie by pure prarie league - this was a fun song for echo to learn and he really enjoys how gentle it is. he’ll tap his foot with the music and just let himself go. sometimes he’ll catch himself moving his shoulders slightly as he plays but he doesn’t stop. when he plays this one, he prepares to hear his brothers hum it for at least a week afterward, it’s just that good.
house of the rising sun by the animals - this one isn’t heard until some time after he and jesse duet & echo exhibits his capacity to have a bit of gravel, which is absolutely heavenly when heard. there’s a lot of held-out notes here and a special kind of twang he’s able to finesse, it’s stunning.
skinny love by bon iver - he learned to play guitar to this song right here, it’s one of his faves and loves how tender & raw it can be. he’s heard covers of it that added too much to it & detracted from the intensity of the emotions, so he sticks with the original. it’s an extremely vulnerable song and it’s somber, but he enjoys baring himself without the risk of being shamed for it. several people cry the first time they hear him sing this song. (this one will turn into a fic as well, time tbd)
bad moon rising by creedence clearwater revival - echo sang this one for the first time tne night before the five-oh-first got their orders, which ended up being to felucia. there are always strange occurences when this song is sung & a few ppl will do anything to keep echo from singing it bc they think it’s an omen. everyone enjoys hearing the song, no doubt, but the moment it ends, some battalion or another is doomed to a bad assignment.
now if these two were to ever team up???? no one would be able to talk about anything else for weeks afterwards
you don’t mess around with jim by jim croce - they’re sitting on barstools in front of their mics, echo strumming on his guitar while jesse pats his thigh as a substitution to the drums. v playful vibes with this song and they can’t stop grinning as they sing. it’s fun and they’ll sometimes lightly tap each other with their feet throughout the performance to tease. lighthearted and always enjoyed.
all this and heaven too by florence + the machine - it’s got enough power for jesse but is also delicate enough for echo, achieving a great balance of their strengths as well as a tambourine. you’d probably think that jesse and a tambourine can cause as much trouble as hardcase with explosives, but he’s insanely focused on getting the hits right. no one expects to hear echo belt out such strong notes in contrast to his normal choices but damn they love it. and jesse?? softly breathing the verses with a delicateness no one thought he possessed?? they’re weak for them both.
soul shop by prophets and outlaws - they harmonize SO!!! DAMN!!! GOOD!!! echo playing the piano and jesse sitting on top of it just straight up VIBING. the entire bar is swaying with the music and letting themselves melt into the floor. none of them were prepared for echo to harness a little bit of gravel in his voice or for jesse to capture the melodic tone that echo doesn’t have to put effort into. this song, having a lot of soul and grit to it but is smoother than corellian whiskey, is a performance for the record books.
if y’all wanna hear more about these two darlings singing, or if you have any other headcanons you want to share/ask me abt, please don’t hesitate to pop into my asks!! i would love to hear from you!!

ToT letter 2021
I am laughingpineapple on AO3
Hello dear author! I hope you’ll have fun with our match. Feel free to draw from general or fandom-specific likes, past letters, and/or follow your heart.
Art likes: characters doing something, even something very simple, illustrating a moment rather than abstractly posing. I also enjoy seeing them wear different clothes, getting a feel of what their fashion sense is like beyond their canon outfit(s). Or dressing them up for some outlandish AU!
Likes: worldbuilding, slice of life (especially if the event the fic focuses on is made up but canon-specific), missing moments, 5+1 and similar formats, bonding and emotional support/intimacy, physical intimacy, lingering touches, loyalty, casefic, surrealism, magical realism, established relationships, future fic, hurt/comfort or just comfort from the ample canon hurt, throwing characters into non-canon environments, banter, functional relationships between dysfunctional individuals, unexplained mysteries, bittersweet moods, journal/epistolary fic, dreams and memories and identities, canon-adjacent tropey plots, outsider POV, UST, resolved UST, exploration of secondary bits of canon, leaning on the uniqueness of the canon setting/mood, found families, characters reuniting after a long and/or harrowing time, friends-to-lovers, road trips, maps, mutual pining, cuddling, wintry moods, the feeling of flannel and other fabrics, ridiculous concepts played straight, sensory details, sickfic, places being haunted, people being haunted, the mystery of the woods, small hopes in bleak worlds, electricity, places that don’t quite add up, mismatched memories, caves and deep places, distant city lights at night, emphasis on non-human traits of non-human characters (gen-wise, but also a hearty yes xeno for applicable ships), emphasis on inhuman traits of characters who were human once and have sort of shed it all behind
DNW: non-canonical rape, non-canonical children, focus on children, unrequested ships (background established canon couples are okay, mentions of parents are okay!), canon retellings
All requests are for both fic and art!
Death Crown: Death, trick
(I haven't played the DLC yet so, alas, no demons, or no spoilers for the demons, at least) I am absolutely charmed by the overall mood of this game and would like to see something more in that vein! Anything! Got more sacred (or unholy?) geometrical architecture for Death to interact with, maybe in greater detail than just wrecking it? What else feels like a contemporary take on a Bosch painting? Can Death get lost?
Ghost Trick: Jowd, Cabanela, trick, treat
Anything focused on Cabanela being an unstoppable force (confident, untiring, sparkling, stubborn, dexterous, loyal to the bitter end, legs) and/or Jowd being an immovable object (sarcastic, strong, depressed, self-deprecating but knowing he's hot stuff, also stubborn, clever but an emotional dumbass, round). Figuring out stuff? Something in the new timeline is linked to the old timeline? Coat? Dancing? Scarves? Halloween costumes?
I like Cabanela/Jowd and Cabanela/Alma/Jowd and Cabanela/Alma in scenarios where Jowd isn't around and Alma/Jowd in general (REALLY like all these, okay. like this is the one request where I'd love the most self-indulgent shippy takes as well), and dig Lynne/Memry. Yomiel/fianSissel and Emma/JM also cool!
Hylics: any, trick, treat
(I have only played the first game so far so please no overt spoilers for Hylics 2. Feel free to include stuff from it but... stealthily, I guess?) This is an "anything that feels somewhat like canon, please" sort of request! Love the mood, love the cast, love the little added details in their menu screen. Those can be prompts? Or the oddball stats? How do ToT's trick and treat freeforms apply to Hylics' overall... hylicsness, what would those guys think constitutes a "creepy" moment or a "fluffy" one?
Not into ships for this one, however I WILL say that Dedusmuln has all the proverbial curves in the right places. mostly their face.
Kentucky Route Zero: Weaver
Math, debt, the liminal state of almost being a ghost, seeing the world with a strange clarity... just anything Weaver, please! How'd she make her way to the town? What was it like for her to be working on Xanadu for a time? What about the community broadcast! Does she have an opinion on Carrington's oeuvre? You know... things... stuff. Weaver things. and stuff.
I love the whole cast and Weaver... wove... her story through most of them so feel free to bring in whomever. Not interested in ships here though.
Paradise Killer: Lady Love Dies, trick
A post-canon glimpse of life on '''''perfect''''' 25? That's not QUITE enough class consciousness to make the whole thing work, you guys. What does 'normal' life feel like to LD now? After following Henry's case and talking to Shinji so much, can she see that it's doomed to fail again, and then what? What IS Island 25 like, anyway? (what comes after Island 25, even?)
I liked the choice of canon romances - if it has to be just one I'd prefer it to be Crimson, but I'd also be interested in seeing what a V or triad with Doom Jazz would look like. They're all so chill about stuff
Pyre: Volfred, trick, treat
Pragmatic idealist, charismatic and bad at people, pacifist, activist, physiologically incapable of shutting up for a hot second, what's there not to love... I am very into either of the following: C. Volfred Sandalwood has a fantastic day; C. Volfred Sandalwood has a terrible no good day. Everything is great! Pre-exile antiestablishmentarian antics, maybe with Bertrude? Political gambits? The very physical dangers of the Downside which may or may not catch a scholar by surprise (who saves him?)? Tree problems? Meeting Oralech for the first time and Volfred thinks he himself is hot stuff but out of the two, Oralech is clearly the VIP? Feeling like he should live up to Lu Sclorian's legacy but he feels much closer to other Scribes (and what does Lu have to say about it, one way or another?)? The thrilling intimacy of Reading? The thrilling intimacy of lowercase reading also, maybe reading old manuscripts found in the Downside?
I very much ship him with Tariq and/or Oralech. The only canon ship I like is Hedwyn/Fikani. I also like Soliam/Gol, Bertrude/Pamitha and Celeste/Jodariel. Love all the Nightwings + Dalbert (+Deluge...?); love to dunk on Manley, Brighton and Lendel (I don't enjoy flat-out bashing, more like... I enjoy the way they are portrayed as horrible gremlins in canon and if they turn up in fic I'm not interested in more positive portrayals)
Signs of the Sojourner: Rhea, Elias, trick, treat
Once again pretty much an "anything in the style of canon" request. I love this setting, its themes and all the little lives that fill it. I am interested in a wide range of postcanon scenarios and love the whole cast - does Rhea come back to $town any number of years down the line and find $character? How'd their storyline end up in the medium-long term? What the hell is up with the Stranger (seriously, three runs and I never managed to speak with them, I have no idea)? What's life like for Elias back home, or in a new home if they can't keep the store, or if Rhea landed the Oscar ending or whatever (just, please, not dead Rhea. I love that ending but can't stand to consider what it'd do to Elias)? Or does he join the caravan just once? Who did Rhea grow to really like and can't wait to see every time? Any ghost stories or creepy encounters on the caravan's route? Does Thunder help?
I'm neutral on ships here - good with Rhea&Elias, good with background Rhea/Elias but I wouldn't like a romantic focus.
Totally Normal Wizard Apprentice: apprentice, wizard, master, trick, treat
(conflict of interest disclaimer, I illustrated this but didn't write nor nominate it) What awaits the apprentice outside the wizard's tower? It sounds like a pretty wild moon out there, I loved all the worldbuilding hints of the bigger setting. Does the wizard keep track of the apprentice, with her telescope or otherwise, and how does she take care of her ruined parlor? Was this all some sort of 5d chess on the master's part, and if so to what end? And what kind of otherworldly patience does this man possess, anyway, to handle the apprentice on a daily basis?
Twin Peaks: Margaret, Diane, Lucy, Tammy, trick, treat
(bass-boosted ethereal whooshing) For tricks, I would like to see any of these characters face the woods, the mystery of the woods, and/or a new symbol of your liking. Or: Margaret in the city, Diane and the moon, Lucy and the color blue, Tammy incognito.
For treats, a happy meeting. I love the whole cast and I'm always thrilled by gonzo "&" pairings, bring in whomever! Coffee and pie? The Bookhouse Boys? A kinder aspect of the woods?
Fandom-specific notes: love s3, love the books too. I like Lucy/Andy, Margaret/Sam fwiw, and rarepairs Tammy/Cynthia and Diane/Constance. Please no Fireman's-house-is-the-white-lodge, no Twin Perfect, no Judy-was-destroyed (nor is destroyable).
Arcade Spirits: Percy, Teo, treat
More than anything, I love the sense of group and camaraderie among the arcade's staff and regulars, and I'd love to see some more of it. I picked Percy and Teo 'cause they're my faves but anyone you may want to add, up to and including Sue, is very very welcome. Is there any aspect of gaming that feels like it could be adapted to this strange world of contemporary arcades? Cosplay shenanigans for everyone courtesy of Ashley? Any other activity that could show how Percy and/or Teo get along with the others, like they were all forming little groups during the beach chapter? It's such a feel-good canon, any feel-good situation would be great!
My Ari is with Percy but I'm not really interested in shipping here. All sorts of friendships though!

what's your writing process like? do you plot things out beforehand? or do you sort of write it as it comes? a mix of both?
Depends on what I'm writing!
In general I'm a planner. I can't write from a blank page, unless I'm just like... really really captivated by whatever I'm writing, which was what happened with the first chapters of both The Art of Living Your (Second) Life and The Partnership Plan.
a) In general, if it's a fanfiction I'm writing, I tend to build the plan as I write - meaning, oftentimes I'll be inspired to write the first chapter, and I'll write that with little idea what the rest of it will be. Or, even if I have an idea what the rest will be, it's more of a vague skeleton than a full plan. And then, as I continue to write, I think more about where the story is going and I continuously add to and refine my plan kind of alongside the actual writing. In this way, the plan grows at the same time that the actual chapters do - but because the chapters take significantly longer to write than planning does, the plan outpaces the "real" writing and I usually know the basic story arc from fairly early on. Then it's just a matter of fleshing it out, adding detail, writing down scenes I thought of, etc. And then when I get to that point in the actual writing, I have a framework in place already.
-_-_-
b) Sometimes for fanfic, I have a more complete plan upfront - although I use "complete" here to mean "from beginning to end," not "completely detailed." So, more like a full skeleton than a full body, if that makes sense. I did that with Roll for Strength. What usually happens is that my plan will look something like...
...
Chapter One
-Will suspects Mike has a girlfriend and is kind of put out about it but thinks he's over Mike so he tells himself he doesn't care
-Will walks in on Mike and his BF (name??) and has a crisis (they don't see Will, so Will knows about Mike but Mike doesn't know that Will knows)
-Will might get off to that later, guiltily? (Or move to chapter two)
Chapter Two
-Do Mike's POV to tell about how he ended up dating a guy, how he got very disillusioned with the world after canon events and got into a "fuck it, the rules don't matter and I hate them anyway" mentality, which eventually snowballed into him kind of realizing and accepting his sexuality earlier than usual fanon
-Also introduce BF (name??) in a scene
-Set time and place - season should set the mood if not already mentioned in Ch 1
-Maybe also do BF's POV briefly to introduce him?? Or leave that for later
...
Etc.
And that's the original skeleton plan. And then it gets expanded upon more and more and more as I continue to think about the story, sometimes even with full pages' worth of unbroken text blocks as I get inspired and start basically thought-vomiting an entire scene. So by the time I get around to actually writing it, it might look like the above, or it might be a few steps shy of an actual draft already, depending on how much I've thought about / worked on that part.
See #5 in this writing advice post to see what I mean about a "thought vomit" draft.
-_-_-
c) Here's the thing - the above was for fanfic, or for short stories, or stories that I'm just kind of having fun with.
For original stuff, I adhere much more tightly to the "rules," because the guidelines for original work (that you might try to publish in the actual publishing market) are much stricter - and for good reason! Fanfiction is a sandbox, and we're all invested in the characters and worlds and settings already. We're all reading and writing fanfic because we already love these characters and this world, and we just want to play in it.
It's a different situation with original novels that you hope to publish. The plot, pacing, tension, and story beats have to be much, much tighter and more polished. Because people reading original work have no prior reason to be invested in it or care what happens - that's work that you have to do. For fanfic, that work was done for you by the original thing. Not to mention, the publishing world is so absolutely choked with competition, and the emphasis lies so heavily on sales, that if your book isn't fucking top-tier compelling, no publisher or agent will take a second look at it. Which is kind of unfortunate, because there's value in slower, more relaxed, more reflective storytelling, too - it's just not what capitalism has decided to value, which is sad.
But anyway.
When writing an original thing, I basically need a full plan - beginning to end, covering all plot points. Not necessarily all the details, just all the plot points - I need a skeleton and I need connective tissue. The rest comes later. But to start, I need to know what happens, why, and how the characters get from event to event. I need to know the physical story events, the emotional beats, and how those things logically flow throughout the story.
Some people can write without this and it still turns into a compelling story, tight narrative, etc. I envy these people. I have all respect for these people. I cannot do this. If I write original work with no plan, and especially without at least like 50-75% of a plan, I end up with something slow, meandering, and kind of limp. No bueno.
So, I usually use a beat sheet.
What's a beat sheet?
It's a 15-beat plotting structure used by screenwriters. And, yeah, technically it's for movies / screenplays. But storytelling is storytelling. And it's highly flexible. (And my favorite professor ever taught it to me in college so you can pry it out of my cold dead hands.)
Google it. It's what I use to make sure my (original work) plots are tight, have momentum, have a satisfying character arc, etc.
Okay, okay, I'll paste the basic structure below just so you can see wtf I'm talking about:
-_-_-
-Act I:
1) The First Frame
-What is the first thing we see? This should be a snapshot of the main character’s problem, before the story begins
-Ex: the Star Destroyer in A New Hope
2) The World Around Us
-What is the main character’s world like at the beginning of the story?
-What is missing in the main character’s life?
3) State the Theme (sneak this into The World Around Us)
-What is the story secretly about? This should happen during The World Around Us
4) Inciting Incident (smol tentpole)
-What happens to put the hero on the road? This is where the hero’s life changes forever.
5) The Hero Questions
-1st introspective moment
-Can the hero really do this? Should the hero chicken out?
-Oftentimes the hero fails at something
-Ex: Luke gets his ass beat by the raiders
-Act II:
6) Crossing the Threshold / The Emotional Hurdle (big tentpole)
-The main character makes a choice
-Beginning of Act II
7) The B Story / The Love Story
-Introduced here
-Often but not always a love story
8) Promise of the Premise
-Fun and games in the world you promised
-Horror movie? Creeps here!
-Sci fi? Space battles!
-Animation? Shenanigans!
9) Midpoint (big tentpole)
-The hero finds out that what they want is not what they need
-Luke rescues the princess - turns out that’s not really what the story was about
10) Bad Guys Close In / Throwing Rocks
-Events conspire to tear the hero’s goal to shreds
-Wesley is mostly dead, Inego is drunk, Fezzick is part of the brute squad
-This is the other side of the fun and games coin where things are no longer fun
11) All is Lost
-Something super bad happens, and that goal is impossible
-If someone important is gonna die, it’s probably now
12) The Pit of Despair (smol tentpole)
-The hero mourns the death (if someone died) and wallows in his/her lowest point
13) Inspiration
-A fresh idea
-Act III:
14) Come and Get Some / Final Confrontation (big tentpole)
-The final confrontation - the final showdown
-A and B stories wrapping up at the same time
-The theme makes sense and the battle is engaged
15) Final Frame
-Opposite of the first frame
-The hero is changed
-_-_-
It's what I use. But hey, you don't have to. What works for me might not work for you.
I'll finish this off by pasting in a section of actual real-ass planning I have open in a document for one of my novels at this moment (it's giving me the evil eye, I swear) so you can see what I kind of mean by "thought vomiting." Also note that in my actual document, the bullet points are indented incrementally to be kind of "nestled" underneath the relevant points, if that makes sense, and that it's a whole eye-watering mess of different colors. But for Tumblr, it's this:
-_-_-
-You have to be rescued by the rest of the team, because you fell down that hole - and you are, eventually, after screaming yourself hoarse some more (plus it’s been like an hour or more now, so they have since noticed that you were missing)
-I could gloss over this, like end the chapter when you run away, and open the next one with “It takes another half hour of screaming your throat nearly bloody before the team finds you,” or something
-They berate you for chasing after ghosts - you say you didn’t find anyone down there, because you know for damn sure nobody’s gonna believe what you think you saw, and you don’t even think you believe it
-This leads to a trip to the local doctor (a clinic, probs, akin to UrgentCare), which you’re not happy with because that’s more people taking notice of you
-However, you’re also going through the change in mindset here - see below
-Note: I as the writer don’t have to worry about the paperwork or whatever that you’d normally have to fill out, getting hurt on the job, because you weren’t officially hired - however, it would be a good “humanity is okay” moment if the guy who hired you came in and helped you with the medical expenses because he felt bad - he’d also probably be a little nervous about you suing or something, but you assure him that you have zero interest in that
-I could include a funny line where the guy says he’ll pay for your doctor bill and you try to say no (being indebted to someone is bad news for you) but he insists, because he says he feels responsible, and you just kind of stare at him and then blurt, “Do you need me to kill anyone for you?” (Something you probably regret as soon as you say it, not because you expect him to accept but because you abruptly remember what happened two days ago.) (Would it be too much to also add like “You want me to murder anyone for you? You want a blowjob? I will do anything,” and he gets flustered and bats it off like “Nah, nah, nah, chill out. You’re crazy, man.” And insists that you don’t need to pay him back)
-Here’s a decision I have to make - does the guy pay for your doctor bills as well as paying for your work today (leaving you enough money to potentially split town, but you decide not to), or do you have to pay the $2,500+ in doctor bills with no insurance for the injury, which raises the stakes by depleting all your money?
-I think I like Option A best, because it gives Sam more agency as a character if they decide to stay despite having the option to leave, versus them just being stuck completely - plus I don’t know how else I’d be able to explain away you having money for the hotel
-The guy who hired you pays you for the work day here - and maybe, just maybe, that gives you barely enough to buy that used car (although, why would it? It couldn’t have been more than like $200 for 8 hours of work, maybe $300 if he was really really desperate - if it was a really cheap used car, that might give you barely enough to buy the car but literally nothing left over)
-Point being, maybe you have enough money to bolt now, if you chose to - and you have to make the choice not to
-The car you found might be a $1,500 Honda Civic (or Jeep or whatever) with a dead battery, and the guy selling it says it should run fine with a new battery, which you Google (apparently it would be somewhere in the range of $100-$200) - maybe you think of how nice the mechanic was for you and wonder if you could cut a bit of a deal with him, if you get this car - and if the guy pays for your trip to the doctor and pays you for the temp work, this could just tip you into the margin of being able to afford the car, if you haggle with the seller
-_-_-
Or another example, with more actual sentences:
-_-_-
-As you approach the trailer you start to register a smell that turns your stomach - something like a porta potty and something like the sharp tang of rusting metal. It makes you pause - maybe there really is someone in there, using the place to live whether there’s a sewage hookup or not - it wouldn’t be the weirdest thing you’ve heard of. But after standing for a bit, silent and listening, and then hiding behind a large tree to chuck a rock at the vehicle to no response, you continue forward. You’ll just have to be cautious. Your spirits lift when you see the door. It’s completely grown over. (Leafy vines lace over it, tangling in the handle, yellowing and unbroken. If someone is living in there, they’ve been using the window to come and go, and that doesn’t seem all too likely. Bolstered by a new swell of confidence, and picturing the unlikely riches you might find stashed away in a cabinet or a glove compartment, you cross the last few feet towards the shape.
-You find the body and recognize it as one of the two obnoxious vlogging dudes from the motel
-I’m kind of imagining the moment of discovery like the wardrobe moment in Narnia where, during your nice forest trek, there’s been some pleasant acoustic music playing (like All the Pretty Girls by Kaleo maybe) and then it just stops abruptly in the middle of a phrase, maybe echoing slightly, when you see the body, and all at once everything is sickly silent.
-Oh dude, maybe you continue thinking it’s a duffel bag (possibly feeling pretty upbeat, though cautious until you’re literally about to step over it, and then you happen to glance down and get a sickening, chest-slamming shock when an empty human face is staring up at you
-Note: there should be mushrooms growing in, on and around the RV, because mushrooms are Creepy
-You go to investigate the RV
-Maybe you recognized the body as one of the vloggers and you’re trying to see if his friend is around - or maybe, in a kind of sick daze, you short circuit and find yourself doing the only thing you can think to do: continuing along your trajectory, stumbling towards the RV and tearing the rusted-out door free from the lattice of brittle vines that held it in place (this is what alerts The Dude that someone has been here), like if you just get to your original goal that’ll fix everything - somehow, if you just keep moving forward on the track you set out on, that thing won’t be real anymore - at the very least you have to get inside, to put a door between you and the body, like you’re pulling the blankets over your head to shield yourself from the boogeyman. Just as long as you’re not out there with, with...
-_-_-
Anywho, I'll stop.
I apologize again for... (scrolls up for a million miles) all of that, but you asked me about my passion and now you pay the price, lmao.

Well now I'm curious. Are there any crocodile shifters in this story? Is that the Alpha Pack? And does that make Jennifer a sea witch? I'm invested and I want to know more!
Also, random questions about your Beacon Bay story: is this on an island or a peninsula or something? Is the Nemeton a lighthouse or something similar, really leaning into that whole beacon metaphor? Is there a star-crossed lovers thing going on here at all (*cough*scanny*cough*)?
Sadly, no crocodile shifters in the actual story, though it was more written as a series of shorter episodic stories that I bounced around between. And the crocodile shifters are just sitting there ripe for the picking, its just I didn’t have need of any in the story and/or characters they matched up well with. The Alpha Pack isn’t really a thing here, mostly because I was like “I am Deucalion, the Demon Dolphin” doesn’t really have quite the right ring to it and also he’s just honestly not my favorite villain, he’s too ridiculous. Its like calm down dude, who do you think you are, Death, the Destroyer of Worlds? Oh wait. Awkward.
But now that I think about it, I hardly ever got the urge to use Deucalion as an antagonist? Just running through my WIP files real quick, and off the top of my head, my villain breakdown in TW fics was:
Lightning Crashes: the nogitsune, Jennifer, Kali and Theo
Where Wild Things Are: Peter, Matt and Gerard
Beacon Bay: Corrine, Peter and Theo
Loki’s Get:
Ouroboros Dreaming (Jackson’s Story): Peter’s ghost, metaphorically
Fenris Waking (Scott’s Story): Peter’s ghost, less metaphorically
Hel Rising (Lydia’s Story): Peter’s ghost, least metaphorically. Also, Hell. But mostly just the suburbs of it.
Born to Run: Jennifer. (That random The Most Dangerous Game rip-off with Scott and Jackson. Making the bad guys hunters was like, eh, so I went with necromancy instead).
The Forest or the Trees: the Nemeton. Like, the tree itself. Also, demon fruit. Look, its that AU where Scott’s a druid and Danny’s a werewolf, the tree wants to kill Scott, its a whole thing.
So, My Step-Brother’s Probably A Werewolf: The deadpool. Basically a S4 AU where Dr. Geyer and Melissa have a whirlwind romance and Liam’s trying to figure out why the fuck his new step-brother is so weird.
Forgetting’s Just Another Way of Saying Fuck You: Theo and the Dread Doctors. This one was that one S5 AU I was writing where the Dread Doctors used their forgetting/mind-wipe powers to make everyone forget about Scott, except they ironically forgot about people outside the town, meaning Isaac, Jackson and assorted others still remembered him. Aka that expansive headcanon that was literally the exact same thing as Season 6′s ‘forgetting Stiles’ plot, only posted about a full year before S6 even started shooting BUT I DIGRESS. (I’m just saying, it was a pretty specific plot, only using the DD instead of the Ghost Riders, but whaaaaatever). LOL.
So the only times I’ve ever really used Deucalion beyond peripheral werewolf politics in Where Wild Things Are is in that one Scydia I was writing, Kingmaker, and also an unwieldy behemoth that somehow got to six chapters without a title, where like, when the Alpha Pack came to town in 3A they used their werewolf memory-sucking mojo to steal Scott’s memories and thus make him more susceptible to Deucalion’s recruitment pitch while everyone else was like nuh-uh, THEY’RE the bad guys.
(Oh and also he did show up in one part I wrote for this Leverage meets Ocean’s Eleven mash-up, with a cast of Scott and the Chimeras. Remember how way back before Eichen House was introduced, Chris made an allusion to there being a werewolf jail they could use to deal with werewolves.....so like, imagine if Chris had caught Scott in S1 but couldn’t justify killing him and then enter werewolf jail and Scott being like mmm, yeah, this isn’t working for me, I’m gonna jailbreak, who wants to come, and then he and random other characters from throughout the series just go around robbing the various douchebags of the series in ways that were mostly just an excuse for me to ‘practice writing action scenes and also heists and also I was bored.’ Also, there’s a distinct presence of multiple unnecessary car chases as apparently most of the times I added to this file came smack dab in the middle of my Fast and the Furious phase. I regret nothing. Also, everything.)
Anyway, as for Beacon Bay, no, Jennifer isn’t a sea witch in it mostly cuz she isn’t in it, as I’d already used her in a few other things and I wanted to give Corrine a whirl as the prime bad guy. So she’s like, an assassin witch for hire. Also, three thousand years old, and as mentioned, like....she’s Circe.
Malia: Ugh, shut up, mom, nobody cares that you’re famous.
Mason (raises hand): I mean, I care, a little bit.
Liam (not helpfully): He asked her for her autograph.
Malia (to Scott): You see? This is why people should have to be over four feet tall to sit at the big kids’ table.
Brett (also not helpfully, but then, he isn’t trying to help, he doesn’t do that): To be fair, Liam’s the only actual Smurf present. Mason’s just Smurf-adjacent.
Mason: *beams*
Liam (staring at him in betrayal): How was that even a compliment? Why are you feeling complimented by that?
Mason: LET. ME. HAVE. THIS.
Anyway Part Two: the Anywayer.....I did not actually ever have any plans to make the Beacon part of Beacon Bay a literal lighthouse, as the town was less a point of interest for other supernatural beings because of Nemeton-type shenanigans, and more just purely because Peter’s a magical artifact oriented klepto who hooked up with Circe and then stole all her shit when sneaking out in the middle of the night and eighteen years later she’s still pissed and Peter’s just not home at the moment. So she’s like, “eh, I guess I could settle for just wiping this entire town off the map in the meanwhile. I needed a new hobby anyway.”
Anywayest, the conclusion: And yes of course it was Scanny. When, where faced with the possibility of Scanny, do I simply...not do the Scanny? Its like you don’t even know me right now.

TTP Junoverse character classpects
Juno- Mage of Mind: Juno as a mind player is fairly obvious as mind players are known for their knowledge, flexibility of information and self, and their wit. Heavens knows the lady loves his snappy one-liners. But most importantly is he is fucking terrible with emotions, especially his own. The aspects of Heart and Mind actively work against each other, and it has been proven that Juno falls apart when dealing with said emotions. Mages are a creative class, but are also known for suffering through their aspect. Juno suffers through his own mind often in the form of overthinking and plaguing himself with poor mental health, denial, and the worst coping mechanisms on all of Mars. while his mind may be an absolute wonder it is also often his downfall as he creates his own mental blocks- most notable in The Soul of The People and The Monsters Reflection. it's also been proven that once Juno gets over his own mental blocks he can do incredible things. Season 1 Juno could never dream of becoming season 3 Juno.
Rita- Slyph of Blood: Rita had the easiest one if I'm being completely honest. The blood aspect is one of relations and comradery, and Rita is know for being a people person. Motivation and Spiritual leader ship are qualities she has in her own unique Rita way. Sylphs are healers often heal through their aspect. Rita's ability to create bonds and friendships have been proven to positively affect those around her especially Juno and Jet. Despite the fact the he may lash out at her, Juno needs Rita as she often gets through to him in a way no one else can which is mostly proven through all the flashback sequences in the soul of the people. Jet has also grown fond of Rita, showing her a side that almost no one knows about in tools of rust. Sylphs are also sometimes self-healing classes and Rita often heals herself through interactions with other people. without them she will become lost, as scene at the end of The Long Road Home and The Soul of The People.
Peter- Theif of Void: Peter being Thief is as obvious as Juno being a mind player but listen. Theifs are known to take the aspects from others and in some cases can end up taking the aspects from themselves. Void is aspect of shadows and secrets, often taking empty spaces as their canvas. Peter's ability to move and change his identity is granted to his ability of void. No one can look twice at something that doesn't exist. those of void value mystery and The unexplained and Peter's real name is a secret that he held to his chest for a very long time. however he ends up taking away that mystery from himself when he begins to fall for Juno. so many things that he kept in the dark ended up being put in the light and this can mostly be seen in the Angel of Brahma and the Man in glass. But in true Void fashion, seems like every time one secret is out in the open a new one is discovered and waiting to be explored.
Buddy - Witch of Hope: finding Buddy's aspect was a bit hard, but eventually I settled on Hope. The hope aspect is known for two things: their idea of right and wrong and their convictions. This does not mean they are in any way a saint and will Destroy with the promise of something better being created instead. Buddy's skill with people and quest to find the cure all is proof that she will do what she thinks is best for her own goals. Witches are the most flexible class, often known for breaking the rules of their aspect. Buddy has the ability to bend hope for both herself and others as proven with the creation of the Carte Blanche. she Sparks hope in those who people who didn't think hope could exist for them any more such as Jet and Vespa, and most impressively Juno "bad time extraordinaire" Steel. When he first met her he was in a terrible place, despite this when he was ready for change and for hope she was who he went to. Not to say that buddy herself is without her own hope as proven with how she waited for Vespa for all those years.
Jet- Knight of Space: the space aspect is known for being an observer aspect. not really interacting unless absolutely necessary. that does not mean that they're passive, and jet has made it very clear that he will break your spine if necessary. both players of space and Jet himself are known for their patience and their "take things as they come" attitude. However aspects itself is also known for properties innovation and redemption, sometimes destroying things in order to make it stronger. the Knight class is an active class often coming into their power but without realizing it and are often known for keeping masks. from the beginning Jet was mysterious and aloof to the point where he wouldn't even tell Juno his name, eventually as time went on it was revealed that Jet had a past that he was trying to keep a secret that only buddy knew about. This was the past of destruction that was greatly explored in Tools of Rust. He destroy his old self, destroy the destroyer in order to become the person she was today. Knight are also known as a protection class often falling into the role of the cliche knight in shining armor which jet often does through his loyalty for Buddy and his protection of Rita.
Vespa- Heir of Doom: Vespa being a player Doom is fairly obvious as Doom players are known for being appointed sufferers and pessimists.her paranoia and deteriorating mental health constantly caused her to doubt the reality around her ultimately making her a suffer of the universe, however, her mental health wasn't always in such a bad state. well it wasn't a hundred percent perfect as buddy had mentioned she had always been paranoid and this fact was added upon through flashbacks. Her visions of Doom got worse with time possibly due to the class of the Heir. Heir are known for being enveloped by their aspect and being changed or inviting change through the aspect. Many times she has said that she has a bad feeling about something and usually she ends up being correct and suffering for it like, like what happened when she got separated from buddy. Without buddy around to give her Hope her aspect of Doom became worse. despite this Vespa still uses the power of her Doom in order to help her differentiate between her own mind and reality which is prominently explored in the shadows on the ship.
Bonus: Mick- Page of Heart: Heart players are often known for self-exploration, baffling nativity, and extreme emotional attachment all of which Mick has plenty of. despite all the time that has passed he still discovering himself and he still feels a very strong attachment to Juno and Sasha. but what I find most interesting about Mick is the development of his character. When he was first introduced many people like "haha funny character comedic relief". However as the series went on he proved to be more integral to Juno's life than any of us thought. Pages are known for starting out slow and then coming into a power none of us thought of. And Micks power is making Juno feel feelings. As mentioned earlier, Heart and Mind are opposites that actively work against each other. Any time Mick and Juno are together some shenanigans and usually an argument happens between the two before eventually Juno goes through an emotional Revelation he's been trying to avoid. Micks maturity level and Juno's emotional availability are often something the two of them end up butting heads about which is probably why Juno is so mean to him in the first place. despite this it has been proven that Juno loves and cares for Mick and ultimately wants him to be healthy and happy and is willing to lay down his life for him, as seen in the lesson learned and the man of the future.

Fosterson Fic Rec Masterlist: Multichapters
Tumblr media
The Main Reclist has been split to fix the links that tumblr decided to break if there were too many of them in a single post. I’ll be keeping the main reclist updated (even if the links appear broken) as well as maintaining this list and the list for oneshots.
I need help expanding this list! If you have any favorites or fics of your own of your own you don’t see included in this list and you’d like to submit for consideration, please drop me a line.
List updated April 2020. New additions marked with **
Updated during this wild quarantined time, which should serve as a reminder to everyone to APPRECIATE YOUR CONTENT CREATORS! Leave all the comments and kudos to show our love for everything they do. Big thanks to everyone who recommended and/or created content for this amazing ship.
Rated G/K-K+
**The World has Turned and Left Me Here by alwaysaprilia: Jane Foster’s mission is impossible: build a wormhole, save the world. Thor Odinson thinks his task is even more impossible: keep Jane Foster alive long enough for her to accomplish her mission. AKA: What-to-do-when-the-damsel-in-distress-keeps-distressing-you. Rec: This is such a lovely little AU fic, brings in such an expansive world so succinctly and smoothly. | 16k | In progress
**Unspoken by igi_pigi: Post bringing his brother back to Asgard from Midgard, Thor is told by Heimdall that Jane Foster has decided to stop looking for him. [Set after Avengers1.] Rec: Angsty, with some nice Frigga content. | 4.8k | Complete
**Overlapping Spaces by khilari, Persephone_Kore: Thor returns to Earth a month after the Chitauri invasion to keep his promises -- to see Jane again, and take her to see Asgard, even if the rainbow bridge is still undergoing repairs. Not that Jane is complaining about watching the repairs. But she wasn't expecting Loki to be haunting the palace library, even in psychiatric care; and Loki wasn't expecting to make friends with Thor's mortal girlfriend. Rec: If you’re looking for a good, long Jane-centric fic that also features endgame fosterson, a well written Loki, and really interesting take on Asgardian culture, this is the fic for you. | 107k | Complete
IW Coda by hariboowrites: THOR AND JANE FOCUSED CODA TO IW bc i am who i am. Rec: We all need a fosterson followup to Infinity War, and this one has an ending that made me scream internally with excitement. Make this the opening of the next Avengers movie pls. | ~4k | Complete
Five Times Jane Was Kinda Jealous And One Time Thor Was by shinyopals: ‘Hello, Jane,’ said Thor. He gave her a smile that would move mountains and definitely still made her stomach flutter. ‘This is Rachael and Amanda. They wished to give their regards for my help during the Convergence. Although of course without you we would have been hopeless.’ He turned back to Rachael and Amanda. ‘This is my dear friend Dr Jane Foster, of whom I was speaking.’ Dear friend? Jane blinked. They’d been sleeping together for a couple of weeks and had had a slightly awkward conversation to establish where they stood with each other (what Jane called dating exclusively and Thor called a courtship). “Friend”, however “dear”, seemed a bit of an understatement. Sometimes dating a gorgeous world-saving alien prince has its drawbacks. Rec: BURY ME AND HAVE THIS JEALOUSY FIC PRINTED ON MY TOMBSTONE. I usually don’t like the toxicity most jealousy fics are infused with, but this one is so pure and wonderful. I could read it every damn day. | 14k | Complete
The Arizona Banana Famine by Niobium: Thor experiences the simpler side of Earth. Rec: Absolutely hilarious. Thor + shenanigans of living on Earth and trying to hide his identity + Jane helping him to varying effect. | 7k | Complete
Non Est Ad Astra Mollis e Terris Via (there is no easy way from the earth to the stars) by Rozilla: Jane Foster keeps out of social media mostly, but does keep a blog for all things science. With a few personal posts thrown in. Edited (with sarcastic asides) by Darcy Lewis. Rec: Fosterson is mentioned often, but Jane’s voice is incredibly worthwhile. | 10.4k | Complete
Hidden resonances by kes: After the vision Wanda Maximoff gave him, Thor had more questions than answers, and so he sought truth with Jane, in a cave beneath the mountains. Rec: A really great fix-it taking place during AOU, plus some fosterson feels. | 6k | Complete
Time and Trouble by shinyopals: Frigga thinks she knows exactly what to expect from the rest of her life. Then one son perishes and returns, whilst the other falls for a mortal woman who’s like nothing Frigga could have predicted.(Frigga’s POV from the end of Thor right through to post-TDW.) Rec: BLESS ALL FRIGGA-CENTRIC FICS. Great outside perspective fosterson, plus a TDW fix-it. | 14k | Complete
If You Want To Live series by hariboo: They lost Loki when they sunk Manhattan. Three years laters Loki finds them and that’s really when everything begins. This is that beginning. Rec: Terminator fusion AU that you didn’t realize you needed until now. Knowledge of the Terminator films is helpful but not required. The 'needing each other’ that comes along with a desperate post-apocalyptic situation really lends itself well to fosterson. It also hurts a hell of a lot. I wish it wasn’t finished. | 5k | Complete
Fabulous Baking Sisters or How to (not) Get Over A Norse God in 730 Days by Rozilla: After seeing Jane in a slump one too many times, Darcy decides to get her into stress baking… and soon regrets it. Rec: A lot of Jane/Darcy brotp, but lots of fosterson goodness especially near the end. The phrase “sex coma” is definitely used. | 8.5k | Complete
Waking Ease by Salmon_Pink: Thor/Jane, rated G. Set after Thor: The Dark World. Written for Comic Drabbles, prompt "halo”. Rec: very, very short, but cute. This is a part of a larger series by this author, but this is the only fosterson chapter I’ve seen so far. | <1k | In progress
Hold the Sun by writerblocked: Thor and Jane (and everyone else) share a meal. Rec: A nice peek into regular life, complete with some touches of angst and fluff at the same time. This story, like the above rec, is a part of a larger work that does not solely include fosterson. | <1k | Complete
If She Is Worthy by Mr. Chaos: During the battle with The Destroyer, Mjolnir returns to Thor’s hand. But what if Selvig hadn’t pulled Jane away? And what if it wasn’t just Thor that had proven himself worthy? Rec: Jane kicking ass and taking names with Mjolnir. Nuff said. Downside? A giant twist at the end and still waiting for a sequel. | 4.5k | Complete
A Story of Us by me: Short and sweet prompt fills. All feature Thor and Jane as the main couple and are all just ridiculous fluff. Rec: A collection of my prompt fills from tumblr. It wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 26.2k | In progress
Rated T
The Foster Edition series by asoulofstars, MissChrisDaae: What happens when Jane Foster is in the Battle of Manhattan? In short, it changes everything. Rec: FIXING MARVEL WITH JANE FOSTER IS THE BEST, NAY, THE ONLY SOLUTION I WILL ACCEPT. | 60k | In progress
Game Changer by asoulofstars, MissChrisDaae: In the aftermath of the Convergence, Jane and Thor return to Earth in search of the scepter, and the Avengers slowly begin to reassemble. Across the cosmos and on Earth itself, enemies begin to gather, enemies that threaten everything the team has ever fought for, and Jane is faced with something just as daunting, but far more personal. Evolving from a mortal to a goddess. From a spectator to a player. From a scientist to a queen. Rec: A fluffy setup for something big, I can feel it. | 8k | In progress
A Magical Solution to the Einstein Field Equations by shinyopals: Jane Foster has got enough on her plate, what with being a full time researcher, giving lectures, applying for grants, writing books, and consulting for Stark Industries. When Thor drops off the face of the universe and leaves her on Earth with no clues as to where he is, she doesn’t know what to do or how to find him. Then an attack on Stark Industries changes everything, and she finds herself getting thrown into a life that she’s previously only watched from the sidelines, and where getting punched through a wall is suddenly just an average day of the week. Rec: THE MOST PERFECT RAGNAROK AU TO EVER EXIST ANYWHERE EVER. EASILY ONE OF MY FAVORITE FICS OF ALL TIME. | 56k | Complete
Ace in the Hole by MissChrisDaae: Working alongside Selvig on Project PEGASUS, Jane manages to escape when Loki arrives, bringing with her the data on the Tesseract, and making herself SHIELD's biggest resource in combating the rogue trickster. At least until her semi-boyfriend finally makes good on his promise to come back, and she finds herself caught in the middle of a war. And she might be a key part in stopping it. Rec: MOAR JANE IN THE AVENGERS. MOAR JANE BEING VALUED IN THE MCU. MOOOOAAAAAR. | 11.5k | Complete | Part of The Foster Edition series
Wild Card by MissChrisDaae: Separation is, for Thor and Jane, a little easier in knowing what's happening to each other, but they have their own trials to face. In the midst of a war, Thor learns of a force greater than anything he has ever faced, one that could change the fates of both himself and and the woman he loves. Nothing is certain, and the burdens of his family, his life, and his love are weighing heavily upon him. Working with Betty Ross, Jane works to understand the secrets of the universe, unaware of the fact that she's being tested with every move she makes. When she temporarily moves to look after her mother's house in London, she and Darcy come across the Convergence. And, for the third time, Jane's life is turned upside down by an ancient force from another realm. Rec: Canon divergent Fosterson is my freakin JaaaaAAAAm. Also BETTY ROSS. A great replacement for canon if you’re feeling Salty. | 33k | In progress | Part of The Foster Edition series
Dancer in the Dark by MissChrisDaae: Jane Foster has always been a member of the corps de ballet, and has never voiced complaint until one night when she indulges in the fantasy of being the prima ballerina. A mysterious voice calls out to her, tempting her, coaching her, offering to make her a star, and she accepts. Months later, the prophecy comes to light when the star of the company becomes mysteriously indisposed. Jane is suddenly cast into the spotlight, becoming an immediate success, but she only has eyes for Thor, the young scion to the ballet's greatest patron family, who has been masquerading as a stagehand in order to continue a longstanding liaison with her. But Jane's made a deal with something far worse than the devil, and now he's coming to claim his due. Rec: A ballet AU that reminds me a lot of Black Swan tone-wise. Warning though, there is a love triangle that includes Lokane. | 9.6k | In progress
Five Times Having An Alien Prince's Baby Sucked A Lot, And One Time It Didn't by shinyopals: It was the doctor’s turn to look nonplussed. ‘Dr Foster,’ she said quietly, ‘you’re around four weeks pregnant.’ ‘No I’m not,’ said Jane again. She was pretty sure she’d remember if Thor had reappeared for some awesome sex a month ago. He had not. She’d gotten through enough batteries to prove it. Jane isn't quite sure how this all happened. She just knows it's a lot of work and it keeps taking her away from her Physics. Rec: The Definitive™ Fosterson babyfic. I’m generally not much for babyfic because I’m not much for babies. But I’ve read this so many times and it’s so incredibly wonderful. | 24k | Complete
Strange Earth series by Niobium: The apocalypse has come and gone, leaving the Earth strange and altered in its wake. What was once a thriving world of magic and science has become a tractless, untamed Wilderness teeming with dangerous creatures born of warped energy pouring through rents in the fabric of space and time. Society has withdrawn into magically-walled Wards to keep itself safe as it seeks a way to reclaim the planet before it’s twisted beyond all recognition, and its Seers and Champions struggle to protect humanity and one another. Rec: An incredibly imaginative ghost hunting AU. Great world building, and fantastic interaction between Jane and Thor. | 12.6k | In progress
The Obloquy of Newness by Niobium: Jane just wants to present her findings and maybe win a Nobel Prize. That would be a lot easier if all these xenophobes, science deniers, and robots bent on world destruction would stop getting in the way. Or, Jane Foster and Darcy Lewis, and what they were up to before, during, and after Avengers: Age of Ultron. Rec: A really delightful companion to AOU. | 17.4k | Complete
Sex Ed For Asgardians (Isn’t Exactly Necessary) by shinyopals: 'It’s a condom,’ Jane said eventually, reminding herself she was an adult in an adult relationship, albeit a very new one with an alien forty times her age who could hardly be expected to know what Earth birth control was like. Jane and Pepper learn that some myths and legends are true. Rec: I have no idea why this wasn’t on the reclist before. It’s hilarious and also really heartfelt. I love Respectfulinthebedroom!Thor. I love the open communication between them. Lawd. | 3.4k | Complete
Pedulum: Beginning by hariboo: Kept apart, with worlds between them, Jane and Thor do not give up on one day finding each other again. Rec: Exquisite buildup to a reunion. Both Jane and Thor are in-character with their own agency, but its obvious they’re nuts for each other. | 28.5k | Complete | Part of in progress series, Pendulum
Pendulum: Between by hariboo: Having found each other again doesn’t mean things have gotten easier for Thor and Jane. In some ways things are only getting more complicated. At least now they can face whatever comes their way together. Rec: Continiation of Beginning (recced above). Nuanced, sweet, messy, fantastic character dynamics, and with a great plot. | 56.8k | Complete | Part of in progress series, Pendulum
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Guardians of the Galaxy by Maybug: Jane Foster and Thor are finally getting married! Most couples go a little crazy when they’re ecstatically happy, unfortunately for these two going crazy involves knocking a hole in spacetime and marooning themselves and two of Jane’s friends on a desolate and dangerous planet halfway across the galaxy. Meanwhile Darcy, Sif and Bill are trying to find them in Skuttlebutt. Will they survive? Will they make it to the wedding in time? Will Thor’s attempts to communicate with Groot drive everyone crazy? Will Darcy get to witness Jane’s brief Goth phase? Will Jane’s friend Sayed get over his Star-Trek inspired fantasies about green-skinned alien women? Find out in the next exciting installment of Journey into Mishap! Rec: Part of a really great series by a great author. Humorous and kind of cracky. Mixture of MCU and comic canon. Just one chapter short of completion. | 12.7k | In progress | Part of Journey into Mishap and the Fosterson Files
Welcome to the Fall by Niobium: The Avengers pick up the pieces in the aftermath of Sokovia. Inter- and post-film gap-fillers and ficlets, with varying POV characters. A couple of them are slightly canon divergent and will be labeled as such. Rec: A really solid piece of prose, careful of canon while building upon it/improving it. The fosterson is handled really well. | 5.5k | Complete
The House of Foster by ArticulatioHumeri: She had set out to study wormholes. Never would Jane Foster have thought that it would lay the foundations of a family clan. Rec: Great fosterson moments, and with proper time devoted to them. A good, long read. Probably the longest fic I have on this list, and the longest Marvel fic that actually legitimately features Fosterson prominently. | 224k | Complete
The Measure of a Man by fayedartmouth: Thor is banished to Earth. Reclaiming his worth is harder than he thinks it will be. AU of the movie Thor. Rec: By now, y’all know I love fics where Thor was on Earth longer than in canon. This is probably my favorite, because Thor is incredibly well-written, and the cultural/personal struggles he encounters are written fantastically. The fosterson is incredibly organic and lovely. | 140.7k | Complete
Towards the Storm by iwillavengeyou: Jane Foster is worthy. Jane Foster is the Mighty Thor. But was she always this way? This fic seeks to examine Jane’s path to picking up the mighty hammer Mjolnir, and her journey as a heroine who, underneath it all, is only human. Rec: One of the few fics I’ve been able to find and enjoy that deals with Jane’s place as Thor in the 616 universe. I like the story’s trajectory, but it has since been orphaned. If anyone wants to... ya know... pick it up... that’d be swell. | 1.5k | In progress
As You Wish by MissChrisDaae: After the apparent death of the only man she will ever love, Jane finds herself the unwilling bride-to-be of the kingdom’s icy hearted crown prince, whose interest in her is almost as unnerving as the man himself. Before the wedding can take place, Jane finds herself in the hands of three kidnappers, her life in danger, and a mysterious figure in black pursuing them. Fencing. Fighting. Torture. Revenge. Giants. Monsters. Chases. Escapes. True love. Miracles. What more does a story need? Rec: THE PRINCESS BRIDE FUSION THAT YOU DIDN’T KNOW YOU NEEDED UNTIL NOW. Also Sif is Indigo Montoya. If the fosterson wasn’t enough to get you to read it. | 21.3k | Complete
Girls’ Night by Maybug: With Thor in Asgard and the other Avengers away on a mission, Darcy, Betty, Pepper and Jane decide to have a girls’ night. A certain supervillain has other plans, but it’s nothing they can’t handle. Rec: fosterson is background, but you all know I can’t resist a good Marvel ladies asskicking story. Story is mostly from Jane’s POV, so good insights on fosterson. | 11.2k | In progress
Thor 2 Rewritten: The Shaded Tree by kes: Rec: A series of oneshots and short multichapters that rewrite the second Thor movie. Not everything is over fosterson, but it’s always an undercurrent. Worth the read. Such a great alternative to canon. | 44k | Incomplete, abandoned
don’t need no ammunition (ain’t the bridge that’s falling down) by anthropologicalhands: Thor (2011) AU. After the battle at Jotunheim, something goes wrong and Sif finds herself stranded on Midgard. Jane is still chasing bridges and wants to know how this strange woman got in her atmospheric disturbance. Darcy’s psyched…and a little freaked out. Meanwhile, Thor and Loki embark on an quest (actually: intergalactic road trip) to rescue Sif. Thor has to prove himself. Loki is having an identity crisis. Do the math. Rec: Great interactions with everyone. Jane and Thor are still absolutely smitten despite the different circumstances. Loki/Sif is also a main pairing. | 39k | Complete
Fate Has Brought Us Together by asoulofstars: A series of one-shots detailing the lives of Thor Odinson and Jane Foster. Set after the events of Thor: The Dark World. Rec: We all know I’m a sucker for fosterson fluffies. The chapters are generally short and sweet. Read for smiles and butterflies and rainbow puking. | 9.9k | In progress
We Have Joyed To Be Forlorn by Niobium: Jane Foster’s life carries on in the wake of the Convergence, complete with exciting new research prospects, a displaced and grieving alien, considerations on the functionality of magic, and massive shakeups in world espionage. Or, The continuing adventures of Jane Foster, from the end of Thor: The Dark World to just after the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Rec: What it says on the tin. I highly recommend reading anything by this author. Both Jane and Thor are done justice to, beautifully. Lots of cutesy Fosterson that feels very real and not just like a fangirl threw up on a page. Really a gorgeous story. | 13.8k | Complete
Rowing in Eden by ancarett: The Bifrost is no longer broken but is becoming unpredictable: delivering its travellers far afield. With Midgard’s link to Asgard at risk, Jane and Thor have to restore stability to the wormhole or risk being separated forever. Rec: Jane and Thor doing science together and being cute together. Features all the Avengers. | 34.5k | Complete
Fundamental Forces by nayanroo: In an attempt to rein in the son that remains to her after Thor’s banishment, Frigga arranges a marriage between two old friends in the hopes that they can work together to heal an eroded realm. On Earth, a prince searches for identity after his world is turned upside-down. And in the darkness, something stirs. Rec: mostly a Loki/Sif pairing story, but there is enough fosterson to give a rec. Even if it wasn’t, I’d still rec it somewhere else. One of the most well-thought out stories I’ve read (part of an amazing series, which contains gratuitous fosterson) with incredible characterizations. Great plot, monstrous word counts in chapters. | 181k | Complete | Part of in progress series, The Kingsverse
When the Stars Fall Up by Nyxelestia: Loki is not so foolish as to let his pride get in the way of his plans. And Thor learns there is a lot more to being a king than being brave. Rec: Despite a Loki-heavy intro, we get some good Jane/Thor in the second chapter. It’s incomplete, and hasn’t been update in a long time, but I feel like it is going somewhere good if it is continued. | 7.3k | In progress, possibly abandoned
Watchtower by me: When research on the Tesseract begins, SHIELD recruits Jane Foster instead of Eric Selvig to harness the other-worldly artifact. When Loki raids the facility, he takes over the mind of the mortal woman his brother loves. The Avengers with Jane Foster in Eric Selvig’s place. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. (although tbh I’m tempted to take this off the rec list because I hate the way I wrote it so much XD) | 56k | Complete
Let Me Follow You Down by me: Jane is sick of her family always pushing her towards a relationship. She thinks she’s figured out the perfect solution. Fake Dating AU. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 24k | Complete
Rebuild All Your Ruins by me: Ragnarok AU. Despite his hunt for the Infinity Stones taking him far beyond Jane’s galaxy, Thor had always managed to get word to her that he was safe. When months pass without any word from him, Lady Sif arrives with a dire message: Thor has gone missing, Heimdall has been removed from his post as Gatekeeper, and the Warriors Three wonder if their king is truly Odin. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 11.2k | In progress, slow updates because it’s me and I’m garbage
Rated M (these won’t contain the smuts unless otherwise noted)
**Stalemate by igi_pigi: "It appears we're at a stalemate, Miss Foster." He meets her eyes at last with his bloodshot ones. "My association with you will continue to doom you with mortal dangers at every turn. And you will continue to inexplicably not hold me blameworthy for it." (Alternatively, how it should have been instead of how it was in Thor3.) [Well after Thor2.] Rec: PAIN. LOTS OF IT. Contains some smut | 8.7k | Complete
Symbiosis: Part I by SteeleHoltingOn: Jane and Thor have to decide if they can make their relationship work. She’s a scientist. He’s a prince. It’s the ultimate of long-distance relationships. It seems that Odin isn’t (wasn’t?) the only Asgardian who is unhappy with Thor’s fascination with Jane. Rec: An amazing look at Thor and Jane post-Dark World building their relationship, as well as all the pitfalls and heartache that comes with that. This author really plunges their hands into the nitty gritty problems with Jane and Thor, their cultural differences, their age/lifespan difference, and so on, yet it is still clear how much they love each other and their determination to make it work. | Contains some smut, but nothing very explicit | 92.5k | Complete
Symbiosis: Part II by SteeleHoltingOn: Loki ascends the throne of Jotunheim. He might have been lonely, but for the little hitchhiker in his head. Thor and Jane have their hands full with their daughter, Val, and the demands of Asgard and the Nine Realms. Rec: A lot of Loki, but also copious amounts of married Fosterson. As someone who isn’t always Loki’s biggest fan, especially when it comes to fan portrayals, I can say that this one is very true to canon and is an incredibly interesting read, and is balanced well with Jane and Thor-ness. The political drama is done very well. The plot planning seems meticulous and is absolutely admirable. I still have the same praise for it as its predecessor. | Contains some smut | 41.4k | Complete
Terrestrial Constellations by NightOwl360: For Jane and Darcy bringing Thor back to Earth is only the beginning of the adventure. Relationships are never easy, the past is always just a step behind, and sometimes the people we know best have the biggest secrets. Rec: Great characterization of Jane and Thor, and fabulous buildup until they meet again. Packed with not just fluff, some inevitable angst, as well as an intriguing storyline. Only downside: I’m pretty sure it’s been abandoned, and on a hell of a cliff hanger. | 78k | In progress, possibly abandoned
The Poetic Edda (was almost entirely wrong) by PhoenixVictoria: In Which: Thor is from a warrior culture (and Jane Foster understands); Loki is badass (but also kind of a puppy); Thor grows a pair and fixes his mistakes (and is a good brother); Loki is a slut (and is a good brother when he has no knives); Darcy Lewis is The Geek Whisperer (which really turns Loki on); And the Odinsons have no idea how to act in front of the media (and wouldn’t care if they did.) Rec: Almost entirely for Thor. He is so well-written in this. Loki and Thor fixing the damage they’ve done, and Jane being a great person. I love this so far (it is a WIP). Later chapters make Tasertricks a thing, so a heads up if you’re not into that ship. | Contains some smut, graphic imagery of torturing/punishment | 81k | In progress, possibly abandoned
One and the Same Thing by MissChrisDaae: Jane Foster is born to the bloodline of the Alchemysts, and the first woman to be inducted into the order. After the murder of her mentor, Jane becomes the first Alchemyst to mix the study of alchemy with that of magic, trying to enhance the art and find a way to avenge him. This is seen as bastardizing the craft, and she is cast out of the order, still working her craft as she wanders the realm. Forbidden from using the title of Alchemyst, Jane instead calls herself Ástkona Óþekktur, a Mistress of the Unknown. On her travels, she picks up an apprentice in Darcy Lewis and the two women meet another very unusual pair: the crown prince, Thor, and his foster brother, Loki, on the run from Amora, the sorceress who murdered Thor’s father and usurped the throne, the same woman who killed Jane’s teacher. Finding common ground, the four agree to join forces in taking down the Enchantress. Even if Jane won’t admit it, she finds herself drawn to the older prince, and Thor seems to be returning her affections, much to the annoyance of Loki, who sees the Ástkona Óþekktur as an unneeded distraction from what matters. If they win the war, there may still be something left to lose. Rec: You can see by the description that this is way AU. Incredibly imaginative, with a good characterization of Jane. | 33k | Complete
The Salt Skin by hariboo: One day Sif walks to the edge of the Bifrost to see compelled to see where Loki had fallen. At the same time Jane is testing a way to open the Bifrost. By accident Sif falls to Earth, what happens after she never would have expected, and then she finds Loki. Post-film. Rec: I can’t believe I haven’t recced this yet. A long, Sif-centric fic that is respectful to fosterson is hard to find, but this one hits all my must haves. Jane and Thor are beautiful idiots, and the outside view of their relationship is great. Very well-written. Loki/Sif is also very prominently featured. | 44.4k | Complete
Off The Grid by Shawn30: As stated by Phil Coulson in 'Agents of Shield’ episode 1-15, "Thor is currently off the grid.” So the question is, where are Thor, Jane, Darcy, and Eric post 'The Dark World’? Rec: This person was one of my FAVORITE fic authors of all time because of their Star Wars fics, and then THEY WRITE A FOSTERSON STORY. I was over the damn moon. There’s a unique take of all the characters, and there’s promise of really great things coming from this story. This fic would be a wise investment. Only problem is that sometimes their fics have very slow updates. Contains some smut | 15k | In progress, possibly abandoned
Lost in a World Full of Terrors by psychollama: Inspired by typhoidcandy - “After Darcy attempts to perform one of Loki’s spells, things go awry and she’s sent to another universe. In this medieval-like universe, Loki is King, Thor is banished and living in the forests, and Jane is an arrow wielding rebel. Can Darcy make it home before the real Loki finds out what she did? Or before medieval Loki captures her and either kills her or makes her his slave?” Rec: A different take on a medieval AU. The first and only chapter is very fosterson-centric, and sets up the action nicely. Jane and Thor are handled very well in the different context. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been updated since 2013, so I fear it has been abandoned. |4.4k | In progress, possibly abandoned
Stop All The Clocks series by Della19: Rec: NOT fosterson centric. This series is, I think, the first thing I read on AO3, and I was blown away. This person has constructed a great world around Supersoldier!Peggy Carter, and I rec the whole series, as the world and the characters are all vibrant and well-rounded. The stories, while connected, can easily be read as standalones. The fosterson, when it’s a larger focus, is absolutely lovely. | 49k | In progress
Rain Upon the Ashes by me: Medieval Fantasy AU. An ancient evil threatens Yggdrasil. An illegitimate heir sits upon the throne of Asgard, and an unknown menace seeks to destroy the Royal Family. Thor Odinson, true heir to the throne and banished years before, emerges as one of the leaders of the Rebellion, further endangering his family. Known publicly only as the Raven, Jane Foster, once a high-born Lady of Midgard, finds herself fighting a war when she once only desired to see the stars. Rec: Because it wouldn’t be a true reclist without a self-plug. | 33k | In progress, slow updates because it’s me and I’m garbage
Rated E (these will contain the smuts unless otherwise noted)
The Secret of Mind and Memory by capitainpistol: Jane and Thor wake up to an empty Asgard and zero memory of their pasts or each other. PWP. Rec: The Amesiacs Who Are Instinctually Drawn to Each Other AU that I never knew I needed in my life. I can’t wait to see how it ends. | 2k | In progress
Love in a Time of Tentacles (or How We Hired Out Our Sex Parts To Tentacle Monsters in Exchange for Remaining in Space) by Rozilla: Jane and Thor’s ship is left drifting in space and the only option is to take up the offer of a Bio-Engineering corporation to submit their bodies to science. Science in this case being mostly tentacles. It’s a good thing Jane’s into this sort of thing. Rec: I hope you’re into wild space porn because that is exactly what this is. Woop woop. Mind the warnings. | 13.2k | Complete
Edging Towards the Light by Shawn30: Thor and Jane navigate the treacherous relationship waters of ambition, duty, passion, and love. Rec: SMUT WITH PLOT YUM. A unique but plausible take on Fosterson. | 30k | In progress
Play Along Prisoner by Rozilla: You’re so used to being not listened to, put down, doubted and generally made to feel worthless when you work twice as hard as everyone else, sometimes you need a hobby like this one. Especially when you have such a willing participant. Rec: AU, Domme!Jane and Sub!Thor. Mmmmyes. Mind the warnings. | 15.3k | In progress
For The Days Inbetween by Simple.White.Lie: Heroes are seldom allowed happiness, and far too often Duty comes before Love. That only means he must fight even harder for that which he desires. Rec: While it isn’t always the prime example of great writing, this fic is still very good. It is a long multichapter which features gratuitous smut (hurrah!) while still maintaining good plot. Jane and Thor’s ups and downs as a couple are well written, and if you’re a sucker for married Fosterson, check this one out. | 79k | Complete
On the Outside by Simple.White.Lie: The King and Queen of Asgard are not prepared for the dish Fate has served for them. To be tossed out like a ship in the wind is more than their hearts can take. Their love is something to fight for.. Isn’t it? Rec: Sequel to For The Days Inbetween (recced above). Both stories feature a very strong Jane, which is a big plus. Again, while the writing isn’t always stellar, it is a worthwhile read. | 33k | Complete
Thor Pwns Walmart by charis2770: Jane and Thor have found a way to be together at last. It’s all she could have wished for, and then some. But it’s playing heck on her worldly possessions! Jane takes Thor shopping at Wal Mart so she can replace all the things which have been torn or broken during their reunion. And buy more pop tarts. This turns out to be an adventure. And hotter than you might think. Rec: Okay, holy high heavens this story is well done. The author does BDSM amazingly, and I recommend their other stories, too. Mind the warnings. Also, if BDSM isn’t your thing, I still recommend the bits in between the smut because it is hilarious and perfect. | 35k | Complete
Stealing Away by charis2770: This is what happens when the Black Widow puts herself in charge of planning a weekend getaway for four friends, three of whom happen to be Super Heroes, and one of whom has an unfortunate tendency to be a little hard on Midgardian buildings. Rec: a continuation of Thor Pwns Walmart, and also features a good deal of BDSM Clint/Natasha. This author remains a good example of how to properly write good BDSM. Mind the warnings. Also, if BDSM isn’t your thing, I still recommend the bits in between the smut because it is hilarious and perfect. | 30.4k | Complete

Question about horsemen: when did they realize “holy fuck, I love this girl.” ?
Death did at the same time when he finally realized how much you do care for him. It happened at the Well of Souls, upon quite dramatic circumstances. The spectre of Crowfather have just told the Reaper what his options are and Death decided to take the leap. You went hysterical, pleading for him not to do it, to search for another way, crying and shaking uncontrollably. It’s been aeons since anyone displayed so much raw emotion regarding whether Death lives or dies, and it moved him to the core. He felt tremendous guilt for leaving you all alone…but it had to be done anyway. Before he fell to his final fate, he kneeled next to you and made the most preposterous, desperate promise. Also, he told you that he loves you - it sounded more like an apology than anything else. Those words would keep you afloat while you waited for him in the Makers Realm, nursing this absurd hope. And then one day he came back.
War met you as the human who has accompanied Death and - to the staggering surprise of all his siblings - won his old, impenetrable heart. Not much after the Four decided to built themselves a house and a new life on post-revival Earth. At first, the Red Rider had no idea how to socialize with you; he was always shy with women and not much of a conversationalist away from the battlefield. Your relationship was full of strained courtesy and awkwardness on both sides. Then the other three had to leave for a mission, and left War with you for safety. With the others not around, the Big Guy slowly came out of his shell. Your companionship was unlike anything he’d ever experienced; you were smart, but not standoffish, funny, but you never made fun of him - and kind. The mighty Horseman started to bask in the warmth of your personality.
Then some asshat demons - probably Destroyer’s marauders - attacked your house. War told you to stay inside, as they were more than enough for him to handle. “Don’t worry”, he threw over his shoulder, already rushing into battle. “You’re safe with me.”
“I know”, you laughed. “Never felt safer. Those motherfuckers are in for a surprise.”
That’s when Horseman War suddenly realized that he’s in love. He ran into the fray with vigor increased tenfold.
For Strife it was the total opposite. He met you as his grumpy brother’s girlfriend, which was as good as off-limits to him. Strife decided that he’s gonna tease and annoy the hell out of you every occasion he gets, if only because you were cute when you got angry. At this he succeeded. For some time the five of you lived under one roof, engaging in family shenanigans; at those occasions Strife would always play the role of the troublemaker. You two established some sort of an unobvious bond, oscillating between childlike camaraderie (no one could light up your day like Strife did) and locking horns whenever he went too far.
Later you and War started dating, too and he was 100% aboard this ship - if only that it provided more opportunities for joking. The thing about Strife is that he was the king of Tinder. He went through human women like a chain smoker does through his cigs. Which means he would never call again. As charming and sociable as he was, our gunslinger harboured deep self-resentment, which made him feel like no one’s ever gonna love him anyway. Not the real him. So it’s better to push people away then to be the one who gets the push.
With you it was different. You shared a family of sorts and a roof, so he could not run away from you like from all the others. He learned many different facets of your personality, things one would hardly notice during a blind date. He started to get…attached.
Then one day you were making pancakes and Strife was helping (if by helping we mean that he mysteriously made the pancake dough attach itself to the ceiling. You sighed and told him to stop being such a brat and mix another batch.)
You two chatted about something of little consequence. You stood turned away from him and flipped the pancakes on the pan. Strife sat on the kitchen table, his long legs kicking the air, his eyes pinned to the curve of your neck. As far as he was concerned, it was a lovely neck. So narrow, compared to his. Humans were such dainty, delicate creatures.
That’s when it hit him like a flying rock. He was in love with you. He was madly, stupidly in love with you and there was nothing he could do about it. Firstly - you’ll never love him back. Secondly - Death would never, ever share. With War, sure. But not with him.
“Welp”, the gunslinger thought without losing a word out of the conversation, “I’m screwed.”

Watcher as Companion: Eiheune
While I’m here, may as well do one of these for the new girl, too.
If your Watcher, or other Pillars OC, was a recruitable companion instead of the main character, how and where would they be introduced to the main party?
You’re first introduced to Eiheune “Hentzin” Manoi as a minor NPC at the Hall of Revealed Mysteries in Defiance Bay. She’s a cute, fun counterpoint to the seriousness of Grimda and her fellows. Maybe she helps you with an alternate method of liberating The Theories of Pandgram for Nedyn—or maybe she pranks her by having you pass along a book that turns out to be something else entirely.
Fast forward five years, and you’re taking a stroll through the Sacred Stair when hey, look, it’s that giggly aumaua again. She’s probably pissed off at least one of the other congregations by barging into their space and Waeling it up. Probably giving them an argument, too. As far as she’s concerned, Captain Stompy is a fine argument for her “sometimes the world makes no damn sense and we have to find our own answers” philosophy, so when you turn out to be following him (which also means getting far away from the pissed-off Magranites/Gaunites/Berathians who are now looking at her funny), she can’t join you quickly enough. Besides, you said that thing was Eothas? Her Waelites do a lot of important teaching and scientific work back home, but they’ve never been the only game in town. She has friends in the Eothasian congregation. Time to get a closer look at what they see in him.
What would their companion quest involve?
Eiheune is part of the “I only wanted to do research!” squad along with her “sisters” Sikkerneq and possibly Clelia. So, you help her do some research, looking for Waelite texts and going on a pilgrimage to the Hall of the Unseen. What does she find there? Maybe a text that says something that gets to her, maybe a person she couldn’t help, maybe a shrine or dream that doesn’t feel the way she was expecting. Time to talk about what she’s doing and why and whether it’s the best choice.
What traits would affect their approval, positively or negatively?
Benevolent and Clever responses are the sovereign method of gaining her approval. Dourness, bluntness, and excessive gravitas put her off, and please try not to be too mean about the whole Waelite priestess thing. She does important work in between all the shenanigans.
Which other companions would they get along with, and which would they bicker with, in Party Banter?
In no particular order besides “I thought of these ones first”, as per usual:
She likes Edér quite a bit, at first. He’s fun, easygoing, and reminds her of some of her congregants back home, and the values and philosophy that underpin her priesting square up pretty neatly with those of Night Market!Edér, if she learns about the gods’ origins. Later on, once the party starts meeting orlans and he won’t shut the Hel up about his Opinions(tm) about them, she starts to wonder if he has a fetish or something. Good luck convincing her that he doesn’t. She still enjoys spending time with him, but dude is totally an orlan chaser. Anyway, she will absolutely be on hand to try and comfort him in her own Wael-tastic way after his quest. Whether it works, well, that’ll depend on a few things.
Aloth has exactly the sort of personality that makes it the least surprising thing in the world that he was mixed up with a Woedican organization. Eiheune doesn’t love it, but she can see where he’s in need of help. Even destroyer!Aloth is in for some well-meaning lectures.
Eiheune and Xoti make a real effort to be friends and support each other at first. The wheels come off pretty quickly when it turns out that their worldviews are fundamentally opposed—Xoti is 100% certain of everything Gaun wants from her and kith in general, and she wants nothing more than for everyone else to be equally certain of her rightness. Eiheune will not be able to resist rubbing it in when Xoti turns out to be quite wrong.
Maia is in for a lot of curious questioning about Rauatai; the Cuostei are more or less distant relatives of today’s Rauataians, and there’s been occasional intermarriage over the centuries, but Eiheune’s never actually been there.
Tekēhu is cute and fun but a little vapid for her tastes. At first. She comes around when it turns out he just needed more experience of the world to really set the gears turning in his head.
Serafen, over time, ends up becoming one of her best friends in the party, though he’s politely firm about not wanting to hear too much Wael stuff from her. She takes it well.
Pallegina is pretty much everything she dislikes, and it’s almost certainly mutual, but they can set aside their differences long enough to be curious together about the progress being made by animancers and other scientists.
Eiheune is pretty certain that Rekke is an actual gift from Wael—he’s sweet, attractive, up for shenanigans, full of interesting stories, and willing to talk religion without making her feel like she’s banging her head on a wall the way Xoti does. Ixamitl and Seki, if they’re not actually distant relatives, bear enough of a resemblance to each other to make it seem that way and give Eiheune an easier time of picking up a little of it while Rekke learns Aedyran, and in short order the two of them are discussing Wael only knows what in some kind of unholy Sekxamidyran hybrid.
She comes in for a bit of needling from Konstanten, because she’s a tiny baby who is silly and cute and enjoyable to gently poke fun at. She absolutely gives it back to him.
That is some attitude on Fassina. She is absolutely getting pranked the moment her back is turned. Nothing destructive, just a little signal to stop mistaking meanness for a personality.
Ydwin doesn’t get on with her for similar reasons to Pallegina. Eiheune puts a heroic effort into staying interested for the first five minutes of pompous lecturing and then can’t maintain it anymore.
Vatnir clearly needs help. Eiheune tried, she really did. Ugh, Rymrgand worshippers.
Would they be romanceable? Would they end up in a romance with another companion, if both were left unromanced (à la Maia & Xoti)?
So, uh, the whole aro thing. Her “romance” would function most like Serafen’s, if anything. It’s no skin off her nose if you want to call yourself her lover, but the label means nothing to her, and she doesn’t much care. And you sure as Hel don’t own her. Insist on monogamy at your peril.
I wasn’t kidding about the “fucking her way through the party” thing, either—she doesn’t understand “romance” as a separate category, its trappings make her uncomfortable, and as far as she’s concerned, sex is something you do with your friends. And these are nearly all her friends. (And hey, the only two other aumaua being a cis woman and a godlike means no worries about pregnancy!) She’s likely to sleep with (or at least offer to) pretty much all the men except for Vatnir (yes, even destroyer!Aloth in a particularly charitable moment, though grandmaster!Aloth is probably a bridge too far), plus Maia. Which of them are interested enough to take her up on her offer is another matter. And she doesn’t go back to Tekēhu more than once or twice, because their sexual personalities are badly incompatible.
Would anything make them leave the party, or would they be there for the long haul?
Tank her approval and her gentle trolling becomes mean-spirited mockery when she can’t just avoid you, but I think she’d be too invested in following this Eothas thing to the end to actually leave. Prepare to be hit with a quick Arkemyr’s Dazzling Lights and some loud swearing when you part ways after Ukaizo, though.
I’m going to take the liberty of adding a question of my own, since it’s something I’ve thought about: What would her approval conversations look like?
-1: She philosophizes pointedly about how kith deal with being wrong about major things.
-2: “Watcher, we...we need to talk. What in Eora are you doing? What is any of this meant to accomplish? What answer are you looking for?” Piss her off further and, while she won’t leave, she just might refuse to talk to you for the rest of the game.
+1: “Thanks for having me along. It’s been exciting. Eye-opening.” She giggles at her own pun. “Did I ever tell you about my ordination?” The story is rather on the nose at times; she’s blindfolded, stripped of her vestments, handed a “holy relic” that turns out to be a rusty watering can, and left in the middle of a labyrinth, which she has to traverse to get her clothes back before finding her way to the group of priests and acolytes to reveal to them the wisdom contained in the “relic”. True? Probably. You never quite know with Waelites.
+2: On the heels of a chat about your respective views on the whole situation out there, “You’re my friend, right? And with any luck, you will be for a long time. I want you to know that I do not love by halves. If you need something of me, if you want me to share your bed, you need only ask.” Perk up at the mention of bed-sharing to trigger her “romance”, or tell her “thanks but no thanks” to turn her down. Or berate her, if you’re a monster. And maybe her love comes with a gift, like Serafen’s—a scrap of handmade ribbon that she’s put a blessing on, wearable in the head or neck or maybe waist slot. Maybe as a trinket, if we really want to have fun. Of course she used her tablet-weaving skills to create an eye pattern, what do you take her for?

Star Wars Rare Pairs Exchange Letter 2018
Hey! While I’m pretty sure I will love WHATEVER you make me, if you are in need / want of some advice, the following may be of interest to you:
In general, I like: pining, unrequited love that turns out not to be unrequited, people being friends & in love with each other generally, found family, ridiculous references, fic that explores what characters mean to each other in a greater context, alt!timeline shit (ie, what would happen if a character had made x choice instead of y), complicated relationships, baby/kid!fic, hurt/comfort.
Things I do not want: character bashing, unnecessary character death (ymmv here it’s Star Wars, characters die, I accept that, but please don’t kill anyone off in the pairings, canonical deaths are fine), gratuitous / explicit violence, mundane!AUs (coffee!shop, high school/college, etc), dubcon/noncon in any form, cheating, first person POV.
General links that might be useful to you: my ao3 works, my fic writing tag, my ficlet tag, and my general star wars tag.
General note: I like characters, and relationships, best when they’re situated in a world that feels real, and that means having other characters around them, and the relationships between them. While the pairings below should definitely be the focus of any fic, please feel free to slip in other things that you think I might like. I think what’s below should give you an idea of that, hopefully :D. For instance, I adore Wedge’s relationship / friendship with the rest of the Fab Four / his pilots in general, and I find the Han / Luke / Leia dynamic endlessly fascinating (both platonically and romantically on all sides), I’m always up for guest appearances from anyone from any point in canon.
Wedge Antilles/Luke Skywalker
Would happily take anything, but specific loves include stuff with them founding Rogue Squadron and that early part of their relationship, where they’re a little unsure and unfamiliar but still utterly trusting of each other? Or in the aftermath of Endor where Luke’s off founding the Jedi Order and Wedge is off fighting the Imperial Remnant and they’re trying to work out if they could have a relationship in all of that? I really love these two, the relationship between them really is one of my all-time faves.
I am also desperate for pre-and-post-TLJ era fic for them. What does Wedge make of Luke’s choices and decisions? Did Wedge go with him to Ahch-To? If Wedge is present, how does that affect the choices Luke makes?
I would also sell my soul for Jedi Academy-era fic in which Wedge is a teacher at Luke’s Jedi Academy, either with them in an established relationship and founding the school, or where Wedge gets involved somehow and slowly realises, oh, actually, Luke is very attractive and there is a lot of pining, and Luke is off having the same realisations about Wedge.
Wedge Antilles/Mara Jade/Luke Skywalker
In which Wedge Antilles and Mara Jade have precisely one thing in common: they both think that Luke Skywalker is endearing and also kinda useless, and would do anything for him. Which includes teaming up to save Luke when he gets into yet more trouble (insert situation of choice here) despite the fact that Mara is really not very convinced by this short fly-boy with floppy hair who cannot act, and Wedge is not really over the fact that Mara wanted to kill Luke. Bonus points for them discovering that they have far more in common than they think, and for Talon Karrde & Booster Terrik background shenanigans.
(I’d be okay with platonic!wedge&mara, if you can’t get that bit to work, but I would like Wedge and Mara to both be in love with Luke - or on their way there - and for Luke to love them both back.)
Wedge Antilles/Leia Organa
I think Wedge and Leia are very alike, in some ways - both soldiers with a sense of duty that goes far beyond themselves, who’d sacrifice their personal lives for their ideals every time. So anything that builds on that, really; either early Alliance / Rebellion (pre / post Yavin), with Leia still trying to sort out her feelings for Han / Luke and working them out with the person who is the mid-ground between the two (fight me on this Wedge is Han’s smuggling no-good self crossed with Luke’s idealism and good!man nature), or possibly after the Jedi Temple Massacre, or post TLJ, where they are the last two left standing and seek solace in each other?
Also! If you have read the 2013 Marvel Star Wars comic (the Wood/D’Anda one), you should know I was so very very very weak for Leia as Squadron Commander and Wedge as her second, and I cannot believe that was an actual thing that happened in Legends okay??
Wedge Antilles/Han Solo
Okay I can hear you probably going ‘huh what’ and I submit to you these quotes from the X-Wing books, and actually the entirety of Solo Command as a book. Essentially, Corellians giving each other shit. But no seriously in Solo Command there’s a real easiness and willingness to tease and I’d be really interested as to how they got there, and if it ever was anything more.
Also, in new canon – I’ve always figured that Wedge and Han might have a bit of antagonistic start to their relationship, Wedge is much more of a believer and very willing to die for the cause – how does he react when he finds out what Han did in Solo? Aiding Enfys Nest? Does that change his feelings?
Wedge Antilles/Leia Organa/Han Solo
Okay so Wedge spends an astonishing amount of time in the X-Wing books putting Han and Leia’s relationship back together (only for The Courtship of Princess Leia to happen, poor guy.) Like. He’s really invested in it. And also half in love with both of them it seems.
But, what I really want … is new canon, in which during the Aftermath trilogy Wedge ends up staying with Leia, and sort of never leaves, and even when Han comes back he’s still there, and then he helps out when Ben is born, because Wedge is very good with babies and this is a very important fact, and slowly Han and Leia realise, oh, wait, we never want him to leave.
I would also be very happy with drunken hook-ups, or Han and Leia accidentally propositioning Wedge.
Wedge Antilles/Biggs Darklighter
They must have known each other on Yavin, so it’s not inconceivable that they might have met and, y’know, got it on. So quick and dirty introductions, or possibly even something set later, after the Death Star battle, where Biggs!lives and the two pilots who didn’t get that shot off try and find solace in each other.
Wedge Antilles/Bodhi Rook
So – well, Wedge was at the Imperial Academy for a time, as was Bodhi, and although it’s unlikely they were in classes together, I think that their paths could have crossed; what’s it like when they see each other on Yavin all those years later? If Bodhi is the only survivor of the Rogue One team, and Wedge is the only survivor of the original pilots (Luke is too new, really) do they find solace in each other? Do they only really catch up after the war with each other, and suddenly realise that no one else is quite going to understand their grief? (I am heavily into Wedge Antilles has a case of survivor’s guilt the size of a Star Destroyer this ship only compounds my feelings).
Wedge Antilles/Lando Calrissian
They took down a Death Star together, that’s a start. I think the other thing about these two is they’re both very set on keeping their people safe – Wedge with his pilots, Lando with the people of Cloud City, and they have principles and lines they won’t cross but they’ll go through hell and back to try and save as many as they can. So maybe something about that?
Wedge Antilles/Col "Fake Wedge" Takbright
I can’t believe Jason Fry made ‘fake wedge’ an actual thing, but IT HAPPENED, and so we should all take advantage of this glorious fact by making them kiss or something, I dunno, fill in the blanks.
On a semi-serious note, I actually really like the care between them at the end of that story, how Col takes one look at about-to-succumb-to-the-worst-survivor’s-guilt-wedge and just, doesn’t stand for it. And so I would LOVE fic about all the times that Col keeps digging Wedge out of despair. Maybe about how Col turns into Wedge’s most erstwhile defender, and Wedge keeps asking why Col keeps putting himself on the line for him, and realisations about how maybe what’s between them has developed into something more.
Wedge Antilles/Mon Mothma
This was mostly crack, until I incepted myself with last year’s rare pairs letter, and now I have very serious feelings about it and I want them to be in love. And have really good sex.
I think they are both serious impassioned people who want to do what is right, only Wedge is brash and daring and Mon is tempered by experience / diplomacy. So maybe something where Wedge does something reckless and Mon has to take him to task for it? Or Wedge trying to lure Mon out of her seriousness, but also he is a very serious person himself but seriously, Chancellor, you have been at your desk for twenty hours please come to the mess. Love letters – they write letters after the war and slowly fall in love?
Fucked-up power dynamics are also very much a feature: Mon is ultimately Wedge’s commander in chief, his life is in her hands, etc. I like the power play, I like it a lot.
Wedge Antilles/Amilyn Holdo
There’s something about the way Amilyn reacts to flyboys doing stupid things, like she has seen it all before. Maybe she has? I feel these two would have really good banter and a very sparky relationship, lots of challenging each other. But also mutual respect, possibly found later – they are both very good at their jobs.
I’d love fic set post-Rebellion era, where they’re both trying to find their footing in the new Galaxy, or maybe fic set around TLJ – what if Wedge is with the Resistance? Does he conflict with Amilyn over her command decisions? (I think Amilyn should still have charge of the Resistance, don’t make Wedge outrank her.) Can he mediate the conflict between her and Poe? What if Wedge is with the Republic and brings a fleet to save the day?
Wes Janson/Derek “Hobbie” Klivian
So Wes and Hobbie are like the ultimate wingpair / brothers-in-arms, they are two peas in a pod, and I love them. I like slow realisation of feelings, the dragging out of the relationship over the years, perhaps one of them pining away whilst the other one wakes up one day and is like ‘oh, it’s you, you’ve been here all along and I never noticed.’ But also! Comic shenanigans, prank wars between them, practical jokes, truth or dare - I’m easy to please, honestly.
Jagged Fel/Jaina Solo/Zekk
Okay, for those who didn’t go and read all of Legends… Jagged Fel is Wedge Antilles’ nephew, Jaina Solo was Han and Leia’s daughter, and Zekk was one of Luke’s students. There was a bit of a love triangle going on. However, in many points, it was less of a love triangle, and more… well. They should have all banged.
Key moments include that time Jaina and Zekk were in a hive mind, and got slightly confused over whose memories were whose, leading to this conversation:
Our boyfriend means business, Zekk observed.
Don’t know that it’s him. And it’s old boyfriend.
Right. We’re so over him.
We?
And also the bit in Legacy of the Force: Invincible, where after Jag and Zekk help pull Jaina out of a sticky situation, she, in a state of confusion due to her banged up head, asks them to both to bunk with her.
So, basically, I want poly shenanigans – fic after the proposed quarters sharing would be great (what if Jag and Zekk took her seriously and had already moved everything about by the time she came round???), messy relationship rebuilding after the Dark Nest fiasco, something where Zekk steps in as Jaina and Jag’s relationship starts to fall apart post NJO? I dunno. But I want them all to kiss.
Plourr Ilo/Evaan Verlaine
They are both kickass lady pilots, and they are both very gay, sooooooooo… it is a crime that they do not exist in the same canon. I want shenanigans. I want an encounter where one or both is undercover and they don’t realise the other is a rebellion / new republic pilot until after everything. I want them on different squadrons trying to one up each other.

As per usual, boardgame night involves lifting Destroyer off the table every 5-10 minutes.
