Trembling Essence:💙Script progress + Updates💙

Hello and welcome new followers, long time no see! I was very busy most of this month, but I am back and ready to continue from where I left off on the game! This game development post might be a bit long but I tried to condense everything! :]

"How are things going so far?":

It's going slow and steady! I haven't been able to do too much these past few weeks, however, I wrote a few parts out before I got too busy and couldn't do anything else.

I want to be very careful when it comes to spoilers but, based on your choices, some of these areas will give off immersive cozy/homelike vibes that really express Noah and the player(Y/N)'s view towards each other. In the old 2023 script I was very new to writing so the small semi-hints of romance weren't the entire focus compared to the horror aspect but there's a better balance between both genres now and I'm still aiming for a meaningful slow burn versus it just being all over the place. :] I liked writing them a whole bunch which lead to a lot of these taking place in the mid/end of Day 4+, they just need to be placed in specific areas that call for it. With that being said, it felt really comfy adding key details about Noah and creating meaningful sections in the game. I was even going to draw out some of the unseen script/scenes but I believe the best thing to do is give deeper lore from the [Extended Demo] first. Even though my writing style has improved I still have to fix the multiple pacing issues I wrote last year.

"Playtester's advice":

I wanted to continue working through Noah's backstory but I kept having moments where I'd get sidetracked into wanting to fix up the start of the game again. Eventually, I talked to my play testers about it and they gave me a few encouraging pointers.

To help keep my process at ease, I will fix the beginning of the game when I take breaks from writing up Noah's backstory. :]

I talked about this during early 2024 but the start of the game that leads up to the cabin is still getting reworked. I was able to get some of it fixed for the [Extended Demo] but I wasn't done. Things are still up in the air but, I will say that I have a better view of everything than I did before. :] Another priority that needs fixing are the backgrounds! I've improved a lot on drawing and they need to be optimized. When you first start up the game, you wake up in a holed out tree in the swamp with the choice to leave this area and possibly end up in the forest. I was going for a very immersive form of symbolism that only a few noticed but, I believe I can do a better job about this. Unfortunately I don't have any new backgrounds to show right now but maybe next week I'll have some finished up! :]

"Art process/Noah's sprite sheets":

As far as Noah sprite sheet goes, it's still in sketch mode.

I didn't draw anything since I was gone so I need to do a few warm ups before I get to them. There are some old drawing prompts I wrote down and old sketches that I never got a chance to doodle so hopefully I can get to them at some point with some attached lore. :,]

My Q&A / Ask box has been reset!

Thank you to those who have sent in asks in the past, unfortunately they all disappeared except for 1 while I was gone. I have no idea what happened but I can only guess it just got reset.

Notes: This is really cute, not to mention I'd love to start up some of these hobbies myself! Crafts require talent and passion; I admire those who are skillful with such things. I can draw pretty decently if I do say so myself, but I'd rather not try making clothes and such. Room decor is kind of fun though? Maybe I just have a short attention span.

Joker

☆ Honestly, Joker would admire your craftsmanship to an extent. He's seen people of all sorts with talents of their own before, but you're much more entertaining to watch. If you're ever working on a multi-day project, Joker makes it a point in his day to come and check up on your progress. He'll ask about your work in detail, even if it was just something silly that you did made up for laughs.

☆ If he ever has the chance too, he'd take a bit of his salary out in order to buy you new materials. It's just as effective as buying the object itself, if not more in his eyes. Then not only can he get you a lil' something, but he can also support you in your interests and hobbies! So considerate of him.

Dagger

☆ Dagger is simply mesmerized by the way you can take turn something so simple into something brand new. If you ever need, he's always got a knife on hand for cutting string, cloth, or whatever else you might need. He's happy to help you out with anything he can!! In a way, Dagger is your own personal assistant whenever he's free.

☆ He definitely has asked you at some point to make him something, saying something like, "'s much better 'en 's made b' y' darlin'! Please?" If he managed to convince you, he'd be overly exciting and in anticipation the whole time you were busying yourself with making his gift. Don't even get me started on how much he would treasure it once it's in his hands, nobody could lay a finger near it.

Peter

☆ In the beginning, Peter plays it off as though he's unamused by your little hobby. It's a bit easy to see through him though, knowing his way of always putting on an uncaring act. He really is interested in the things you make, but not interested enough to invest his time in your projects. If you ever ask him about something you're working on you should expect a, "I d'nt really care. D' whatev'r y' w'nt"

☆ How to really get to him might be gifting him something. I mean, who knew Peter could even get all flustered? He was flattered that you made something for him, but even so he told you not to do it again since, "Y' wastin' y'r time 'nd money," and so on about how he could've just went out and bought something for himself. He's got money now, y'know? Really, he loves that you were thinking about him though.

Jumbo

☆ Jumbo finds your talents adorning and cute. Sometimes he'll sit by your side for hours as you work on different projects, playing his harmonica for you as a source of comforting background music. He'll praise your work and smile at you if you ever ask him for advice, "Y' doin' great already hun," or, "'s lookin' wonderful." Never a negative comment out of his mouth.

☆ His heart melted when he saw you made him something, especially since it's hard to find clothing in his sizes. You could make him a sweater, shirt, pants, scarf, even a pair of gloves and the hearts in his eyes are visible, sweet words coming naturally to him about how much he loves you. Could you get more of an appreciative gentleman? I don't think so.

Snake

☆ Snake enjoys different textures, feeling and touching fabrics and materials you happen to be using. At first he thought you might find his little habit weird, but once he - or rather his snakes - explained how the feeling of his scales against something softer was comforting, he was surprised at your reaction. Why are you asking him to touch different pieces? Why do you care which one he thinks feels the nicest??

☆ One time, you even found Snake snuggling up against a new blanket you had made for him in the fabric he specifically said was his favorite. It was just as adorable as you planned it would be, and you and your beloved now had a new bonding topic. Even if you didn't see the same appeal he did, it was nice to have someone near who would offer their thoughts when asked.

What is this?

This is the League of Extraordinary Gentlefolk, a comic project based on the premise of Alan Moore’s League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. Think The Avengers, but with characters from Victorian lit.

If you’re familiar with the Alan Moore comic, or the 2003 movie, don’t expect this project to look much like either one. I’m keeping the name, the basic premise, and most but not all of the core cast, and going my own way with all the rest.

Do I need to read all the books and stories this is based on?

We’re aiming to make the comic accessible to people who have never read the original works. Reading the stories will enrich your experience with the comic, but it is by no means necessary.

If you’re interested in reading the original works, @linguisticparadox compiled a fantastic Google doc with links to all the texts we’re using as inspiration. (at least, all the ones we can currently share without giving away future spoilers... :3c)

How will you be handling [insert issue/plot point/character portrayal from either LoEG or one of the source texts here]?

Hopefully, in a respectful and nuanced fashion. We’re doing our utmost to remain faithful to the source texts we’re drawing from whenever possible, while at the same time avoiding uncritically reproducing the prejudices present in those texts.

What are the guidelines for sending in asks?

Be respectful. This is the “goes without saying” rule, but this is Tumblr, so I’ll say it anyway. Trolls, hate, bad-faith questions, and exclusionism will be deleted.

Read the FAQ. If your question is covered in this post, odds are I’m not going to answer it.

Be patient. I’m only one person, and I’m not always going to be able to answer asks in a timely fashion - or at all. This is my first time running a blog that receives this level of interaction, and I’m still figuring a lot of things out as I go.

Are you looking for guest artists/writers?

Not currently. We’ve talked about this possibility for the future, but as of right now we’re not accepting submissions for new writers. I’ve also had a couple people offer to help with inking/backgrounds, and while I appreciate the offer, I would like to clarify that I do not intend to do either. The comic will remain black and white and sketchy indefinitely.

What characters are part of this?

There are a LOT of characters planned to appear in this thing. I’m working on a separate cast list page, but in the meantime, the core League by the end of Episode 2 will consist of: Mina and Jonathan Harker, Irene Norton (better known as Irene Adler), Dr. John “Jack” Seward, Dr. Henry Jekyll/Edward Hyde, Ashley Griffin, and Captain Nemo. Additionally, expect to see a wide variety of supporting cast members in roles both large and small, including more official League members to be added down the road.

Why is Jonathan Harker here?

Because he loves his wife!! And I love him. Also, he’s a white-haired kukri-wielding genderqueer possibly-a-cryptid, and how can you NOT put a character like that in your comic?

(Slightly more serious answer: Because this comic is founded almost entirely on spite and self-indulgence, and in my humble opinion the Harkers were done dirty by Alan Moore. I’m a huge Dracula fan thanks to Dracula Daily, and I want to give Jonathan Harker the spotlight I feel he deserves.)

FE OC Week - Day 5/6 - Joy/Supports @fe-oc-week

I'm a bit behind but I will get there eventually.

Name: Regulus

Other Details:

Regulus has Supports with 10 individuals, many having different focuses from explaining parts of his personality and upbringing to questioning his ideals and beliefs. His prejudice shows up more than once, he is a flawed being but he learns that his conduct and thoughts are wrong (if this is triggering in any way skip any support that means prejudice in its summery).

There are also more tame ones where he makes friends and does hobbies. These supports would be where Regulus finds most of his joy doing things he loves with those he appreciates or well loves.

As a character, Regulus is neurodivergent coded, he hyper-focuses, has fixations and often struggles with things and I hope throughout his supports this would be noticed or addressed and others learn this part about him.

Supports

Alear

Focus - Regulus’ convoluted plans and obsession with schedules. How they can sometimes be a hindrance and that to live in the moment. Alear learns why they are so important to him and they find a compromise.

(Below is the wake up events so I have done them instead of support dialogue)

Lindon

Focus – Shared love of magic and experiments. Accidents happen. Lindon acts as a fatherly figure and explains things about this life and that Regulus reminds him of his children.

Lindon: "Let’s say we go back to the drawing board. Maybe a new hypothesis... Green didn’t work. How about pink, my boy?"

Regulus: "If anyone asks... I was in the Ring Room this afternoon. I certainly was not helping you try to change the colour of Elthunder... Or setting two trees on fire in the process."

L: "I won’t say a word if you don’t, young Regulus."

(Vandar chasing after them in the background)

R: "My Father never accepted the magic part of me... I don't know what he would say if he saw me now..."

L: "He would see a great Mage in the making... And if he wasn't proud of that fact then he is a fool."

Ivy

Focus – Sharing opinions on Elusia, Sombron and King Hyacinth. Regulus giving his unwavering loyalty to Ivy and Elusia once the War is over.

Regulus: (talking very fast) "Princess Ivy. Princess Ivy... I am so happy and proud you are here with us. That the crown Princess dines to battle with such commoners and with rival nations. I got to fight by your side in the last battle. I cannot believe it..."

Ivy: "Regulus! It is Regulus, correct? I may be a Princess but in this Army I am just another soldier fighting this war. There are other Royalty amongst us."

R: "But you are the Princess of my country. Is there anything I can do to help? Or improve your stay. I could plan out your days and-"

I: "That's enough. Please. Treat me as you would any other. When you have calmed down and prepared to do as such, you can speak to me again."

R: "Ivy, I would like to talk to you, if I may?"

I: "Yes, Regulus?"

R: "My conduct was unfitting last we spoke. So, I would like to start again. I was over-excited. But I have had time to sit and think."

I: "Oh? Then you may."

R: "I am proud to be an Elusian. To have walked the streets of the Capital... But I worry there is so little left of the soul of our country. I wanted to talk to someone about it... I'm at a loss. I thought you may understand that."

I: "Oh... That is something I deeply think about. When the War is over how much of Elusia will be left. Will I even have any subjects to try to help after all this."

R: "If I may... I would like to help you rebuild. I have skills that could be useful... I want the country that accepted me to know I will do anything to help it."

I: "Then, I will rely on your help to see Elusia into a new dawn."

Zelkov

Focus – Discussing the need to always be busy. He helps make Zelkov a hobby schedule and organises his hobby sanctum. Zelkov and Regulus learn to respect one another and hang around Zelkov's sanctum.

Regulus: "I've noticed you always keep busy, Zelkov. Your name is usually one of the most present on the chore schedules... Yet, you don't seem the most helpful of individuals. You don't do it out the Goodness of your own heart... So, why is that?"

Zelkov: "My mind never sleeps. I keep busy, least my mind wanders into *dangerous* territory."

R: "Huh... That's kind of familiar. If I don't have my plans... My thoughts can get overwhelming. But you know you should schedule in sleep. I have a feeling you don't sleep much."

Z: "Sleep doesn't come *easy* to me... Maybe I should tell you the same thing. I do not believe you *schedule* yourself enough yourself."

R: "Maybe you're right... Maybe we both need to optimise our schedules to help ourselves."

Hortensia

Focus – Telling Regulus’ need to “lighten up” and take a moment for himself to not plan. They spend an evening causing none planned trouble.

Hortensia: "Hey Regulus. Why you so obsessed with all these organising things? You can't organise every second of your life!"

Regulus: "Ah, hello Princess Hortensia... Can I help you?"

H: "Yeah, by putting down the notebooks and schedules and living a li'l. You can't have all that ruling your life."

R: "Oh... I find they give structure and are helpful to myself and others. Say, maybe I could help you use your time more efficiently?"

H: "Ugh, no. I live my life minute by minute. I don't need a plan to tell me what to do next."

Gregory

Focus – Gregory’s bad experiences of Elusia vs Regulus’ good ones and they both come to a compromise that there are good and bad things about their homeland.

Regulus: "Hey Gregory... Fellow Mage and Elusian. Look, we have so much in common. We should be friends!"

Gregory: "Ah! Ermm... Hello, Regulus... I don't really know if we do have that much in common."

R: "What? Really? I thought they were good building blocks. Do you not want to speak to me?"

G: "No, no. It's not that but you seem to like 'love' Elusia. But... It has not been kind to me. I don't think we have similar experiences, so..."

R: "Oh... If you don't mind, naybe you could tell me about the bad... And when the War is over I can help change Elusia for the better. I could tell you the good things it has done too? Maybe make you more proud of your Home."

G: "Huh... I donno. But it's worth a shot. Maybe... You could dail down the enthusiasm, it's making me a little nervous."

Citrinne

Focus – Discussion on magic and the need to always be better. Also, Brodia’s vs Elusia’s stance on magic. Regulus' experience with magic when he was younger. Regulus'' mild prejudice comes up again.

Regulus: "Competent with magic and Brodian. You must be a Noble."

Citrinne: "Yes, I am. What gave it away?"

R: "Commoners don't learn magic in Brodia. They don't get the privilege."

C: "I never thought about it that way... But I have met a few mages in the Army, so I think you may be wrong."

R: "Well, I was never given the choice when Brodia came knocking on my doorstop. I had to hide trying to learn magic. I bet you never had that problem!"

R: "Citrinne, that spell you did last battle... It was impressive. You got many out of a bad situation."

C: "Why thank you. Oh, it is you, Regulus. I thought I was just a 'privileged priss' that only got everything due to my status."

R: "Well... I can still recognise someone who has talent. I thought to give credit where credit is due."

C: "Hmm... I think we need a proper conversation. I need an apology from you and then maybe we can try this all again. If that apology is good enough I could even tell you how I came up with that spell."

R: "I... I misjudged you, Citrinne. I have noticed your insecurities in your position. That for a Brodian you feel weak. That is not true though. You are strong. And... I am so very sorry for my past words."

C: "You are much more perceptive than I thought you were. I accept your apology should you stay civil."

R: "That is all I ask."

Alcryst

Focus – Regulus' mistrust and prejudice of Brodia and it's Royal line. Alcryst helps him in a battle with the Corrupted and shows him he is just a normal person, and Regulus changes his mind.

Regulus: "Why are you trying to speak to me? Why even look at me? You’re a Prince of Brodia and I’m from a rival nation. I want nothing to do with you or your people."

Alcryst: "Oh... Sorry. I won’t look at you... Or talk, if you don't want me to. Would you rather you spoke to Diamant? He’s better at this stuff. What do you mean rival nation? I... I don’t know what you want. Sorry."

R: "Did you not hear...huh? Why are you apologising?"

A: "Because I’m obviously not good or powerful enough to be able to talk to you... So sorry. I don't meet your standards."

R: "I don’t understand you, Prince Alcryst."

R: (on the battlefield) "This is looking bad. Where did that Firenese knight go? I'm not getting out of this easily."

A: "Uh, Regulus, look out." (Shoots a Corrupted that got too close)

R: "Is that? Prince Alcryst, why are you helping me?"

A: "As you are someone in need. I did what I could, as little as that is."

R: "But I'm Elusian...?"

A: "That doesn't matter right now... We need to get out alive first."

R: (After battle) "You saved my life, Prince. I never thought a Brodian would help me."

A: "I did it as you're an ally, and you don't deserve to be killed just because you are from Elusia."

"You didn't kill my Father or invade my Home. Why would I... Well, hate you?"

R: "Because well... Wait? You don't hate me when I treated you poorly."

A: "No... I thought I must of done something to deserve it anyway."

R: "I wronged you... I am sorry, Alcryst. You didn't deserve my scorn. And you really shouldn''t sell yourself so short. That was a good shot out there. It saved my life."

A: "Oh... Thank you. It was, wasn't it?"

R: "Oh, yes. You should be proud of your skills."

Clanne

Focus– Regulus helps Clanne implement a better schedule and talks about siblings. Mainly Framme’s very disorganised lifestyle. Framme shows up in the supports.

Regulus: "I have noticed that you, Clanne, are one of the most organised people on this island. However, your twin, is frankly terrible. You are polar opposites..."

C: "Haha, yeah. She gets distracted a lot. I pick up a lot of the slack."

R: "Hmm... You shouldn’t have to. I have an idea: What if we were to say... Try improve her productivity? Experiment a little: try some new schedules, give her some different tasks and test her progress. It would be less work for you and the others."

C: "I guess it couldn’t hurt. I have been really busy since Framme forgot to do some chores yesterday."

R: "Then it’s settled. Operation: 'Improve Framme’s Productivity' starts tomorrow! It’s a working title."

Boucheron

Focus – Regulus is sent to find a lost Boucheron. They discover a shared love of reading and start a book club.

Regulus: "Ah, Boucheron. There you are. Everyone has been looking for you."

Boucheron: "Oh... Hey there, Regulus. I got lost again."

R: "But we are simply a 5 minutes walk in that direction. You can see and hear us? How did you manage to get this lost?!"

B: "I’ve just never been very good with directions. I get lost really easily. I get lost on the Somniel still."

R: "You couldn’t find yourself out of a wet paper bag, could you, poor dear? Fine. I will make you a series of maps. We can’t have you getting lost every 5 minutes."

B: "Oh... (Sniffling) this bit of the story always gets me."

R: "Hey. Don't spoil it! I haven't read it before. Let me catch up. Your crying gives it away!"

B: "Oh no. I'm spoiling your fun. But the book is really good."

R: (laughing, affectionate) "Oh, you sensitive oaf. A few tears won't spoil the story but don't announce it. I want the intrigue. The surprise."

B: "Yeah. It's nice I get to share this with you. Alfred and Etie well, they don't sit still long enough to appreciate a good story."

R: "I'll always put some time aside for a good read and company. Don't you worry."

Wake-Up Events:

C1:

“Divine One, I’ve been added to your numerous waking up assistants... Sir Vander seems to have recruited the whole Army for the task. Surely it would be easier just to have a set select few.”

“Do you not think it’s inefficient as well? Oh, you weren’t listening... Well, we can table it for now. Good morning.”

Awakened Early – “You awakened easily now... Why do you even need someone to help you? I’ll leave you to it.”

C2:

“Ah, Divine Dragon. Time is wasting, you know? I have things to do myself. Oh, do wake up already!”

“Ah, there you are. I will take my leave then... Actually, would making you an improved schedule help? I can do that for you.”

Awakened Early – “Oh. You’ve awoken early? Perfect. Now stick to it.”

B1:

Divine One, I made that schedule you wanted?! Ah, still asleep I see. Maybe we need to develop a spell or something... Maybe to zap you at the appropiate time. It would save you needing a person to awaken you each day.”

“Ah, you do not look impressed with my wonderful idea. I’ll be leaving then...”

Awakened Early – “What do you think, a zappy wake up spell? No? I thought it was a good idea.”

B2:

“Divine One, I have been in your library and I must say it’s... Divine One? How are you asleep at this moment?”

“Napping will only affect your sleep schedule, you know. Now, about the library...”

Awakened Early – “Divine One, just daydreaming I see. Now.... I was on about the library... You have so many tombs and magical knowledge...”

A1:

“I’ve been thinking about what you said: That I cannot plan every single thing in my life. That no one can... It is correct, I know this... But I would like have my plans to fall back on nevertheless. For if the worst ever happens, I need structure or I'll... Nevermind.”

“Oh... You heard all that...? Well, I’m going to leave. Good morning, Divine Dragon.”

Awakened Early – “Hmm...? Was I saying something important? No, nothing to worry about. Now you are awake, I will take my leave.”

A2:

“You slept for so long and still you sleep alike the dead, unending yet peaceful... So silent. If you were to never awaken again. The world would crumble. My plans would crumble... We all would crumble.”

“Ah... You were listening all along? What a sneak, you are. No, no... I’m not going to elaberate. Good day.”

Awakened Early – “Good morning, Divine One. Forgive the commentry, I just feel today is an interesting day.”

Since tumblr is going to be a jerk and not let me post my cosplay, I'll go ahead and write down my review for the movie.

I'm writing this a couple days out, so sorry (and correct me, i love discussing this movie :3)if something's not correct. I was also writing this in-between breaks at work lol.

There will be spoilers, so you know the deal. I will tag it as such but you have been warned. :3

I'm also putting a read more divider cause it is looooong lol.

My fiancée and I went to go see the dub. He hasn't seen the series since s1 and I made him watch the recap but I felt the recap didn't explain everything to really get a full understanding of the importance of this movie and the characters, but I do appreciate having it. (I think I'll use it in the future for explaining to those I talk to that haven't seen the series, cause have you ever had to explain the series to someone that has never watched it before? Lol)

So we'll start with The Dub

I was favor of the dub in the beginning. I don't mind either sub or dub, but dub is easier for me sometimes when I'm drawing or doing a craft and don't have my eyes always on the screen. I was happy to see that all the original cast came back for this, as I know through their dvd commentaries that they have a real passion for the series. The start of the movie felt a little awkward to me, almost like the VAs were trying to find their way back into their voices. Frederica's voice I think was a little off, a little quieter and softer than I would have imagined hers to be. I know a few people don't like Kate Oxley's voice for Akane but I think she did an excellent job at Akane's break down in the end. It felt very raw and believable.

Plot

Overall I was very pleased with the plot of the movie. After getting context for everything in the movie after reading spoilers from Japanese only showings with no subtitles, I felt that the movie went way deeper than my first impressions. It was a nice surprise to have what feels like a less all over plot that we have gotten in recent years. My fiancée throughly enjoyed it even though he didn't know most of the backstory and I had to fill him in on a few things. His comment for Shindo after the wedding was "nooooo, he kills himself?" Which I replied "yep". There was foreshadowing for both Saiga's and Shindo's deaths but I felt that it was done right. Not too obvious, but enough that it wasn't overdone and you could pick up on it. One piece of context that was filled in for me that I found interesting is that Shindo was an upperclassmen to Saiga, and Saiga warns I think Akane? About Shindo and how he uses people and in sometimes dangerous ways, and that Saiga wonders if one day he'll end up getting hurt from it. And then guess what happens!! I know Saiga warns Akane about Shindo because of his shady methods to get what he wants, and I can't remember when in the timeline, but she asks Mika to do a background check on him.

As for Shindo's foreshadowing, he has a conversation with Akane and invites her to Kei's and Mai's wedding, where he gives that weird speech lol. Sadly I can't remember too many details but I know the way he has his last talk with Akane made me pick up that his suicide was soon, a product of sibyl supplying him with a gun and making him accept responsibility for all he tried to do. You couldn't wait until maybe a day or two after the wedding?? Lol.

I liked that Saiga and Kogami got to talk again. One of the only remnants of shinkane in this film (yeah there wasn't a lot sadly :() comes from Saiga telling Kogami that he shoukd apologize to Akane (which leads to that awkward phone call where it seems like he kinda? tries and fails as they made him a stoic and manly pride type of personality. I don't really like how cold he is at the start of the film either but I almost see a little bit of it as maybe he's been away and around so much violence for so long that this is the only, in his weird Kogami way for him to act. I do think it's no excuse tho for erasing any trace of the shinkane we have, as that relationship is special to many of us and not always for romantic reasons.) I did have a laugh at later when Saiga asks him if he did apologize to which he replies "I don't know what you are talking about". Come on Kogami! You know he can tell you are lying!

I did like that our bad guys had a more religious and cult like approach this time. I feel that's a topic that hadn't been touched in the series yet and finally the movie's title Providence made sense. These guys are dangerous enough to pose a threat, and our heroes get hurt several times. Plus they were a special group for SAD that went rouge, which is so interesting to me. Tonami is the leader of this group and aims to get the Stonskaya documents that can predict wars before they happen or can escalate them to one's favor. He also either helped develop or came across an ai (can't remember details) that he found could pose as a God and he controls his soldiers with a chip(?) in their heads that he can turn on and off at will. Kei's brother Akira is part of this group but is revealed later that he was a double agent( I was surprised at that!) And that he burned his face so he would not be recognized. Shindo sadly kills him later as he fights control for his body from Tonami.

(Trying to finish up here, god this review is long, thank to those that are still with me lol)

I'm gonna try to jump ahead to the end. The scene of Akane's unspeakable deed (lol) was very well done. You have Sibyl forcing her to take Shindo's position, which I got the impression that she didn't want it. And yet it was another Sibyl covering up something bad, sweeping it under the rug and trying to silence Akane more. Akane's whole thing through this movie is that there still needs to be laws, cause Sibyl will and has failed to protect people. So she realizes that she has to do the unthinkable and show that Sibyl is not as invincible as people are pushing for it. Her letter to Kogami was a great scene, with him realizing at the last minute what she was going to do and that he couldn't do anything to stop it as he was locked up. My fiancée was so surprised and it was great to hear his reaction, as he hadn't seen s3 and didn't have the context clues that we all have had lol.

Overall, I thought it was a very good film and great tie in to some pieces missing. I'm still not sure why Sugo and Gino joined SAD tho? That part might have gotten lost on me.

Shinkane

Sadly there wasn't much. I could say that was my only disappointment, along with Kogami's character towards Akane. As other's have said, it seems that he realizes too late. Like maybe he was trying to keep his distance so he can continue to think that she's the same pure inspector he's always known. I love Saiga's quote to him that "she's not God or Budda" so hopefully moving forward there will be something (despite what the writers say!!) as he greats her so warmly at the end of s3. As he swears to get her out and then he's not the one who does it! He might have some competition lol.

I also want to point out that I loved the soundtrack! I was happy to see Ling Tosite Sigure and Egoist back, cause I feel like it's not fully Psycho Pass without them. But! I was listening to the Providence soundtrack before I saw the movie and it's soooo beautiful, so give it a listen if you have always loved the soundtrack like me. :3

So those are some of my thoughts. I will gladly discuss them with anyone if they want. Also to correct anything I got wrong lol.

"The Storyteller"

Here is the 3rd art piece for my “Countdown to Dragon Age Day” (which will be in December), where I plan on submitting artwork like this (for each playable character) every other Monday. If you could so kindly visit/view my previous Dragon Age fan arts, I would greatly appreciate it. Also, PLEASE let me know if you have done DA artwork as well, that way I can view it.

It's been a bit of a fun challenge to figure out what kind of background to create for each character. I am inspired by the DAI tarot artwork. Also, have you noticed I draw plants from DAI next to the names? With Inquisitor Bryony Trevelyan, it is Embrium. For Solas, it is Royal Elfroot. And for Varric, it is Dragonthorn!

I find Varric to be quite the intriguing character and he indeed brings comedic relief to the game (besides Iron Bull). I was so excited to see Varric the first time I played DAI, since I liked him in DA2. (I've played DAI twice!) His commentary is funny when using him in the battle party, especially the bantering between he and Cassandra:

Cassandra: How do you write as you do, Varric? I can never find the proper words.

Varric: You. Write. Really?

Cassandra: I've needed to describe events in reports. They always come off as...

Varric: Dry? Boring? Lifeless? Stale?

Cassandra: You... are an ass.

Varric: (Chuckling) Just... helping you find those words.

And one of the best between Varric & Iron Bull (which made me crack up):

Iron Bull: Hey, don't most dwarves have beards? Or at least mustaches or something?

Varric: I make up for it elsewhere.

And between Varric & Dorian:

Varric: I see you eyeing Bianca, Sparkler. Hands to yourself.

Dorian: I wouldn't worry, she's not my type.

Varric: Huh. And here I thought you're a man of refined taste.

Dorian: For fine wine and literature, Varric. Not for… whatever that contraption is.

Varric: Contraption!? Don't listen to him, sweetheart. His people are vilified for a reason.

Drawn with Sakura Pigma Micron pens, then coloured in with a mix of Copic Markers & Ohuhu Markers. White accents, crossbow bolts, & lines were done with a gel pen. The gold is Golden Paint acrylics, Font & glowing effect around the red lyrium was done in Photoshop Elements.

@czigonas wanted to see me answer those artist questions and I did them all so it’ll be under the cut

1. Art programs you have but don’t use?

As of rn I cannot draw on my laptop/tablet so technically paint tool SAI and photoshop(idk what version). But I guess I hadn’t used photoshop for /years/ back before my drawing hiatus. Sorry but SAI is so much nicer to look at and to use, for me personally.

2. Is it easier to draw someone facing left,right, or forward?

I flip flop my canvas a ton to a) look at it for wonkiness and b) to get specific lines in a direction that feels good, but the actual act of drawing I typically like to have them looking left cause most the the lines flow from top right to bottom left which is nicer to do since I use my right hand to draw even tho I am ambidextrous.

3. What ideas come from when you were little?

This question confuses me on what it’s actually asking soooo? When I was like 12 I had to write a story for school so I did a story about a plane crash in which the survivor came face to face to a rat/bat/cat/dog creature thing? I’ve always wanted to redraw the creature, idk if I have the original drawing I did and I don’t feel up to digging to see if I kept it during all my moves.

4. Fave character/subject that’s a bitch to draw?

My favorite animal color patterns aka brindle, merle ,roan, spots/stripes. So time consuming. In terms of shape, human faces for sure.

5. Estimate of how much of your art you post online vs. the art you keep for yourself?

Before hiatus, probably 90% /shared/. Currently, probably 75% /posted/cause I can’t post the porn to tumblr lmaoooo but I have shared them with like half a dozen friends.

6. Anything that might inspire you subconsciously?

I’m sure there’s a ton but if it’s subconsciously then how would I consciously know?🤔 ok serious answer, probably every single 2D animated movie or show I’ve ever seen, and all the various artists I follow. I mean, there’s parts of my style I can pinpoint you to what it’s inspired by.

7. A medium of art you don’t work in but appreciate?

I’ve never /seriously/ tried oil paint, acrylic paint, or pastels but that shit always looks so good. Also watercolor even though i have tried and enjoyed using watercolors but I am far far faaarrr from being proficient in them. Non drawing wise, I fucking love dioramas, especially those that are then filled in(?) with acrylic(?). I watch a lot of those videos on YouTube.

8. What’s an old project idea you’ve lost interest in?

Most of my old animal ocs I had in the same universe in my mind and had a comic planned that I never got around to. I still love and wanna revisit those ocs. But also my dragon age ocs who I’ve SERIOUSLY BEEN CONSIDERING drawing in @soaps-hoe-141 universe 👀

9. What are your file name conventions?

Before hiatus/ on my laptop, subject or character and whatever was happening in the pic. Now using procreate on my iPad? I don’t think I’ve named a single one lol.

10. Favorite piece of clothing to draw?

Nothing, no clothes, nude, nakedness please and thank you. lol but I guess I do sorta enjoy figuring out clothing in general, folds and shit, getting that practice in. Like how it hangs and creases in poses since I’m not used to drawing it.

11. Do you listen to anything while drawing?

I don’t usually listen to /only/ music while drawing, I much prefer having a favorite movie playing in the background and/or a show I enjoy rewatching/am actively watching. I also watch a lot of gamer YouTubers I put on as background noise/short watch breaks that their voice is just soothing to me even if I’m not /watching/.

12. Easiest part of the body to draw?

I’m not sure… maybe boobs/pecs for humanoids. General body shape for animals?

13. A creator you admire but whose work isn’t your thing?

Honestly can’t think of a single one. I mean, plenty of artists do work(or with a medium) that I can’t or don’t want to do/use personally but I read the question of “isn’t your thing” as “subject you don’t enjoy”. If that’s correct, then idk what to tell you. I don’t follow or remember people who majority does things I can’t enjoy on some level.

14. Any fave motifs?

Quite a lot of religious imagery I guess ex. Circles around a persons head. Less serious answer is drawing characters in meme formats lol

15. Where do you draw?

Please don’t tell any physical therapists I live like this… on my back on my couch with my head on the arm rest while holding my iPad propped up on my chest like 8 inches away from my face lmao

Idk???? I do shit for my own enjoyment so I’m not sure? Maybe perhaps backgrounds? Like I could do something decent if i wanted to but I’m not into it so I usually just don’t?

17. Do you eat or drink while drawing?

I take breaks… but while actively drawing? I often drink aka let the horny demons out while I enjoy whiskey lol.

18. An estimate of how much art supplies you’ve broken?

Broken broken? Next to fucking none? some charcoal sticks but otherwise…. None… I majority do digital art so really nothing to break there lol

19. Fave inanimate objects to draw?

Idk? I like doing life charcoal drawings? Of whatever, but particularly statues if that counts? I usually have living beings as my subjects.

20. Something everyone else finds hard to draw but you enjoy?

Ok, I hate this question, cause we are all good at different things. Maybe it’s just most of those I follow have different strengths than me???? But I guess if I had to pick, recreating from life(or picture) is a lot easier for me than some others(like making it life like/very accurate).

Absolutely none, again don’t let the pros know cause damn. But I will do stretches or take breaks as needed.

Absolutely. Mostly for lighting and shading but yes, if I’m doing digital imma take advantage of it.

Yes? I don’t really understand what it’s asking?

Idk? I don’t usually get feedback of that sort.

Again idk? I guess my shit is straight forward?

Almost never, again don’t let the pros know lol I do sometimes jump between pieces or start a new sketch before going to something farther along.

Nope, wanted to and have tried before but I tend to NOT do something if I feel pressured to do it.

29. Media you love but doesn’t inspire you artistically?

Again I feel like this is a weird question or maybe it’s just my understanding of it but I can feel inspiration from all sort of artist shit even if it’s something I’ll never do(ex making a crochet animal or dioramas). I guess I can feel inspired to create from other creators even if it’s not direct inspiration/subject/medium.

30. What piece of yours do you think is underrated?

Underrated as in no one has seen aside from a few people irl would be my colored pencil pieces I did during afternoon naps when I worked at a daycare a few years ago.

Hello!! Yes ofc, I've never listened to this artist or done this type of thing before so it was REALLY fun n interesting to do, I really enjoyed it :D (prepare urself for a LONG post)

I just now finished listening to "we found two dead swans and filled their bodies with flowers" and I acc really liked it!! I'm a sucker for indie/acoustic/bedroom pop/whatever else it's called music (basically cavetown n dodie, my beloveds <3) so I really vibed with it! It was short but very much to the point with the lyrics. It's hard to explain but they're kinda abstract yet so clear in the story/message?? Idk but I LOVEEE lyrics like that so tysm for that song rec :))) I love the overall simplicity of the song too- it's just a guy, his acoustic guitar, and a few short but sweet lyrics. No fancy autotune or vocal effects, just pure vibes (no hate to artists who do use those effects tho) It's very comforting and I would def listen to it again :D (8/10)

Here's my opinion on the rest of the album too :) (I didn't listen to the whole album just half so I might be wrong but yeh :>)

Overall, the rest of the songs I listened to were kinda rock-ish (hopefully that's the right word) with a sprinkling of calm/acoustic songs which I really love. I don't really listen to this genre of music but I really enjoyed it!! I noticed that the songs are all REALLY short too- like I think around 2-3 mins on average- which is really interesting to me and I acc kinda like it bc it kinda makes listening to the whole album a big cohesive experience if ykwim?? Instead of like a bunch of different 3-4 minute songs that kinda have similar vibes but not really and are more just a collection of individual pieces rather than a big music collage like this album (in my experience ofc). I feel like the whole album could be like a really chill background music to read, draw, write, or anything in general!! At first I wasn't sure I liked it bc I wasn't used to the whole loud bg music, soft vocal thing, but after a while it really grew on me tbh :> Personally I feel that the lyrics aren't really the central focus of most the songs, it's really more geared towards the music/instruments, which again, even tho it got some getting used to, I acc really liked bc it's like you can appreciate the artist's musical abilities first and then their lyric-writing abilities; which is really what music is ab now that I think ab it. Overall, I think I'd rate the whole album an 8/10- it truly was a really fun, interesting, and cool experience!! :)

And this is my opinion of each individual song I listened to~

Everything is fine: The loud bg music and sorta muffled vocals are really new and interesting to me since, yk, it's usually the other way around. It's almost unnerving in a way, but I think that's almost the point, since the lyrics seem to be ab feelings of dread and unease, but ur trying to convince urself (or maybe others) that everything's fine (the title lol). It was fun and interesting to listen to but idrt I'd listen to it again bc it kinda made me feel uncomfy for some reason lol (7/10 tho bc it was still really good c:)

Don't like me: This had very similar vibes to the 1st song- loud music and soft/muffled vocals, but it wasn't unnerving at all. Perhaps bc of the lyrics, but it came off as more angry/upset than uneasy or panicky. It's also really cool how he was basically able to repeat the same lyrics/melody for 3 minutes but it was still really vibey- I didn't get bored at all!! I would prob listen to this again tbh, I see myself having a private dance party or doing chaotic things to this song sdfghjk (8.5/10)

Bad news: This one also had loud bg music and soft/muffled vocals (I wonder if that's just how his music is?), but the vocals were def slightly louder. It's really similar to "Everything is fine" in the meaning, but it's more confident kinda imo. Like the 1st one sounded very panicked in its dread, but this one is kinda like "yeah. I hate it here and I feel dread. What's new?" ykwim? It was way less unnerving than the 1st one too, but idk if that's just bc I've gotten used to the effect or bc it's just not as much as an panicky song. There also seems to be a pattern of using ghosts as a way to express unease or anxiety which is really cool :) (7.5/10)

Serfs up: I think we know the drill already by now- loud bg music, muffled vocals (which isn't bad ofc), but for some reason I was more drawn to the bg music than usual- I really like the upbeat kinda fast tempo it has! The vocals were VERY muffled (more than the other songs I think), sm so that I couldn't really understand the lyrics (I don't mean this in a bad way I promise 😭) but I searched them up and I think that's the point. My bro is (in the storyline and not irl btw) high af (whether off drugs or off excitement from being w the love interest or both we'll never know~)- he's very much disoriented so the music shows that. It's a really cool concept that I haven't seen before and I really like it!! (8/10)

Skate witches: Ok this is new :0 It starts off with an audio clip of some sort- apparently it's from a movie from 1986 that goes by the same name- skate witches- (Yes I did research after listening to it lmao)- which I found very cool! Also different from the other songs is that the bg music is much calmer, not as much rock/punk vibes as the other songs. It was very relaxing. Again the vocals were muffled/soft- but it was SOOO much more relaxing than the other songs- no unease, anger, etc. I love love LOVEEE the vibes from this song. I also noticed that the electric guitar was also singing along with the singer (idk how to describe it, I'll ask my guitar geek brother later) and even echoed his words. Very cute imo :> It's kinda like a spin-off of "don't like me;" they have very simillar messages, the speaker/singer is obv quite upset, but while "don't like me" is very angry, "skate witches" seems to be more accepting ab it. Like "yeah. You don't like me and that makes me sad, but ur not worth it so I'll get over you soon w my own time." At least that's what I think ofc :) I totally see myself listening to this again!! :D (8.5/10- I am very much in love w calm vibes and have bias towards them if you couldn't tell lol) [After this I listened to the album on shuffle bc I was getting a bit bored and I wanted some ✨spice✨ (NOT IN A BAD WAY I PROMISE DFGHJKL)]

Lonely boy goes to a rave: This one also started with an audio clip ab school, and I must say, MOOD. My boy is speaking straight facts fghjkjhgfdfghj (my first day at my new school is tmrw pls pray 4 me). This one again had pretty loud bgm like the other ones, but it had VERY different vibes tbh. It wasn't like ANGRY angry like some of the other ones, more like dark and fed up. I acc quite liked it! It really fits the theme/story of the song- a sad lonely boy needing to do smth exciting, or to be surrounded by new ppl bc life just don't hit right (honestly same) but it seems like he can't reach the same level of excitement/happiness that he sees other ppl having. (again. same). I really liked it! Even tho it wasn't as short as some of the other songs, I felt like it was over too soon fghjkghjk (8/10- another vibe)

Doing all the things I used to do with people- part 2 (acoustic): This one also starts with an audio clip- I think it's of the singer himself but I'm not sure- but it's SOOO VIBEY!!! The wind/thunder REALLY elevated the coziness/vibes of this song too!! It's just so comforting in general omg. Again, a sweet song of a guy and his guitar, just singing his heart out and vibing w his friend. I LOVE it!! It's so relaxing yet kinda sad at the same time. The lyrics are really sad and depressing- it's very clearly ab a troubled person goin through some shit- but the little snippets of the singer randomly talking plus the wind/thunder just makes it so cozy and comforting I just want to hug this song tbh 😭💞 I AM IN LOVE (10/10- this is going in my comfort playlist now ty)

Swimming: This one was also quite chill too! This time the vocals were more echoey than muffled if ykwim? But I really liked that tbh! I feel like it really captured how it can feel while ur underwater, everything's all muffly and slightly blurry, but sometimes you just don't know if you like it or not. I didn't understand the lyrics again, but I think that's the point. Ur swimming underwater. Everything around you is blurry. You don't really know what's going on, and for some ppl that might be relaxing, but for others, it can be scary. I listened to this twice and the first time I thought it was a relaxing song, but after listening to it again, it sounds like the speaker/singer is drowning or overwhelmed. It's really interesting!! I really like this song! It's so vibey and majestic :) (8.5/10- I lowkey feel like I'm floating away fr)

I'm so fucking bored: This one had VERY similar vibes to "Swimming", but the lyrics are much more pronounced/clear and I can def understand them better than a lot of the other songs I listened to. But while the other song was quite quiet and kinda panicky, this one is a bit more confident I would say. It reminds me of a choir kinda, like ur walking into an abandoned/haunted church of some sorts and it's dark and lonely and scary, maybe there's a few ghosts- who knows, and you hear this. It's almost ominous, but more on the sad side too. Esp the lyrics- the story/song is def ab someone who's again, goin thru some shit, they've lost EVERYTHING, and maybe they're trying to be optimistic ("I'll bet heaven it's ok"), but they're mostly resigned since it's really only just 1 optimistic lyric and in the context of the rest it really isn't too good. They've given up and now see their horrible situation as smth like "oh well. can't do anything ab it can I" ykwim? Like the contrast between "I don't have a future anymore" and "I'm so fucking bored" kinda shows how normalized it is for ppl to go into ruin kinda?? Like they should be panicking, upset, angry, but they're just bored. Very deep lyrics fr. And then the piano too- CHILLS. Idk how to explain it, it's just wow. AND THE END THING. Idk if it's just drum sticks hitting smth or smth but it REALLY gave me the haunted church vibes. (9/10- it really hits different idk why)

I ran out of space and this is like really long, plus my mum keeps telling me to study for my placement test for school but YEAH! I really enjoyed the experience and it opened me up to a whole new genre of music I probs never would've listened to before :D (I am a kpop and indie fiend so I usually never even would've THOUGHT ab listening to this artist)

Vale groovy cards...I eventually plan on drawing their Groovy art at some point. Im just drawing blanks on how to do it + I'd wana do a BG and make it SICK like an actual card. So...one day...eventually :')) I am drawing more recently so!! its a possibility!!

I'll focus on the 2 SRs I have for them I guess?? Considering the bday one is technically an interview so...not much story there?? Although for that one I'd like Grim to be the one interviewing them & have him in the groovy art too uwu/

Suitor Suit Vale!

It starts off with them fretting over their looks. Like a bit after they've all changed into the suits to go save Idia. Vale is just nervous cuz they don't usually dress up, but they also like it?? No time to appreciate it all though when the homie is in danger!

There's also talk on how to woo the ghost bride. I'm thinking that Vale ends up suggesting really good lines?! They just say it's cliched stuff from novels about princesses and whatnot but hey, those kinda things might actually work. I think Ace would try to prod them a little like, what would you say to get someone's hand in marriage, without 'cheating' aka using your novel knowledge. Do something from the heart.

Commentary from Vale about how this tragic tale of the ghost bride finding her one true love would make for a good novel. Insert comments about oh please dont do it. They laugh...maybe they won't but no promises hehehe.

Ima dab me in some Corpse Bride reference here. sorta. Basically it's Vale on their way back to Ramshackle at night with the looming thought of how they never got to give their hand at wooing the princess. They take Ace's words to heart and try to think of something to say. Also a comment from either Rook or Epel, probably Rook about thinking about someone who inspires such thoughts (coughs Idia coughs)

They give a soliloquy, their own heartfelt confession and lines for a wedding. They get a bit embarrassed afterwards and glad that no one is around. But they're totally using that in the future.

Starsending Robes Vale!

steals my own fic idea lol. sort of. but it starts off with Ortho asking about what Vale's wish would be despite giving/sharing it with Grim. They're honestly not so sure about it like?? The thought of having magic does come to mind and they say it but they know that isn't possible. So maybe something else? Ortho says to think on it and he'll grant it!

Vale ends up hunting for wishes with Ortho & Idia the most out of the selected trio. I know the Shroud bros get the wishes from the Leech bros, so Vale ends up hanging around them for a bit. The eels are so kind and willing to lend an ear to Vale's woes...at least they seem to be interested.

Vale admits that they don't know what to wish for. Floyd points out it doesn't matter since they don't get a wish anyway while Jade is softens the blow saying its all for fun and its not so serious. Conversation ensues and it boils down to Floyd's side saying be selfish or following after Jade's with his selfless wish. Ugh decisions!

The night of the starsending...

They're still conflicted on what to choose. Selfish and selfless. They're rarely the former, but the latter is so much easier. They consider the bros (Jade & Ortho) and their wishes. As they think on it they end up seeing the "shooting stars". And then it hits them.

The whole thing is done and Idia is probably trying to peace out but Vale spots them and is just like!! I know my wish!! Idia is like?? wishing is over but go off I guess??

My wish...is to spend as much time with my friends here.

They probably explain that they were tempted to wish for everyone's wish to come true, but they can be a little selfish and wish for that instead, right? It's silly, but that means they also get to spend more time with him and Ortho too!

tbh the image I have in mind would be similar to the header on my sideblog or just focusing on Vale making the wish with Idia in it uwaaa
