When Namjoon proposed hiking the Dobongsan Mountain, of course you said yes. Had anybody ever been able to say no to this golden retriever in human form? You couldn’t imagine that happening.

It’s not that you don’t like hiking per say. It’s just that you were a walking time bomb, a disaster waiting to happen. After all, you DID meet because you fell off your bike at Hangang River approximately two months ago.

After that first encounter you both met up again a week later for a bike ride that ended up with Namjoon falling off this time. That’s when you realized the man was as clumsy as you. But that just made him that much more endearing. That day was also the day you both exchanged your first kiss, a fleeting, shy and sweet kiss that was enough to leave you light headed for a few days still.

Then you saw each other again, and again and again, never getting enough of each other’s presence. Now here you are, hiking Dobongsan Mountain with the man you’re dating. The most fascinating, adorable human being on the planet. How you got so lucky you couldn’t say, but you sure as hell were not about to fxck this up. Not if you could help it.

“Babe, look!” A dreamy low, slightly out of breath voice shakes you out of your thoughts. A large hand that’s been gripping yours since you started hiking tugs your hand cutely to signal it’s owner wants your attention. You shoot your gaze up, noticing the dazzling vision before your eyes. Ah and of course you also notice the scenery a few seconds later, beautiful, truly.

“It’s beautiful Joon” You grin from ear to ear, unable to hide how incredibly happy you are. What a wonderful day, with an even more wonderful man by your side, holding your hand like it’s the most precious treasure he could ever hold.

Yelping, you feel strong arms around you, realizing juuuust a little too late how you stumbled on a tree root and almost fell, face first on the dirt path. Could you be even more embarrassing?

Blush creeping up on your face like a traitor, you slowly lift your gaze to meet your lover’s amused eyes. He’s chuckling. You pout and hit his arm lightly.

“Is this amusing to you Kim Namjoon?”

The man has the audacity to laugh even harder, and you can’t help but chuckle too. The grip this man has on you, absurd really. He brings his forehead to rest delicately onto yours, you both close your eyes, warm breeze caressing your skin.

“I’m sorry for laughing, I couldn’t help it.” You feel his hand coming up to your right cheek, cradling it gently, like it’s the most fragile thing in the world. “but… you should’ve seen your face”

Your eyes snap open and you smack his arm again, getting out of his grip and walking away, leaving him behind. You hear him laughing like a goob. The audacity.

“I’m sorry, I’m sorry!” He shouts while catching up to you, still giggling like a school kid. He takes your hand in his once more and you grin, the man is stupidly adorable. You’re so whipped you could give Cool Whip a run for it’s money. You wouldn’t have it any other way though.

An hour later, you find yourself sitting on a rock, between Namjoon’s toned legs. And you wonder if life could get any better than this moment, right now. You feel at peace, safe and secure, your back pressed against his torso, one hand on his knee. You could stay here forever, but then forever wouldn’t be enough, you want more. How greedy.

“Joon?” You stare at the scenery before you, the sun shines brightly. There’s birds singing, a few people here and there chatting amongst themselves.

“Yeah?” You feel his warm breath on your neck, goosebumps immediately erupting on your skin.

“I’m happy” You simply state, just shy of a whisper. You feel soft, plump lips on your neck and you sigh, automatically melting in his tender embrace.

“Me too” He declares, disconnecting his lips from your skin. You can feel him smiling.

You turn your head around, as much as you physically can, to try and catch a little glimpse of his cute dimples, them being your favourite sight this whole world can possibly offer. Everything else pales in comparison really. You meet his enchanting eyes before he drops his focus on your mouth, slowly closing the distance between both of your lips. You sigh in content when he finally does, the angle slightly awkward but you couldn’t bring yourself to care even if you wanted to. He’s here, right now, holding you, kissing you. And that’s all that matters.

He whispers the next words so softly that you barely catch them.

“Me too..”

Mt. Bukhan

Bukhansan National Park is a natural park in the city centre, which is rare in the world, and it fully preserves the beautiful natural scenery and provides pleasant exploration services. It was designated as Korea's 15th national park, and its area is about 78.5 km2 across Seoul and Gyeonggi-do, and it is divided into Bukhansan Mountain in the south and Dobongsan Mountain in the north, centring on Uiryeong.

The entire park is surrounded by urban areas and serves as a green area for urban areas. It is a "national park visited by the largest number of visitors per unit area" as it is used as a natural resting place for residents in the metropolitan area and has an average of 5 million visitors per year.

Dobongsan today. Went up to Sinseondae and made it through the scary Y Valley part of the Podae Ridge which I chickened out of last time (*very* steep but since I was going *up* the scariest part, I didn't have to look at the drop I would fall down if I lost my footing and I had a friend this time for moral support 😂).

Also, there were so many cats up there again, but this time most of them were black and white. It is the kingdom of cats!

“We’re nearly there,” Yoongi says when the two of you come across a shelter, leading you towards the table with a smile. You’re grateful for the break, a little out-of-breath and a little sore. Which isn’t surprising; you’re not a hiker by any means, nor had you ever considered hiking to be a possible hobby for yourself, but Yoongi had invited you with a gummy smile and excitement alight in his eyes, and suddenly hiking was all you could think about.

           There’s a click as Yoongi uncaps the lid of your water bottle, holding it towards you with a soft smile. “This next part will be a bit harder.” He’s hiked this trail already, back before he met you. It’d been one of his firsts, too, like it is for you—and neither of you really count Namsan because that’s almost like a staple for those who visit Seoul. A place for sight-seeing, it’d taken a little over an hour for you to reach the top of Namsan, and that was only because your best friend had stumbled and scraped her knee. She’d recovered after a few moments of rest, and you’d both made a wish as you looked out upon Seoul’s city lights.

           You can’t remember what you wished for, but you think this is better.

 Peering out at Seoul’s cityscape, you take a deep breath. You wonder if the air really is clearer up here or if you’re making things up. Either way, you think you like the air better up here. You can see the river spreading through the city, glistening beneath the afternoon sun. You can see Namsan, too—and the Seoul Tower. You think of wishes, holding hands with your best friends to feel less lonely amongst couples. You vaguely remember someone proposing. To you, this seems leagues more romantic.

           Yoongi threads his hand with yours, and the two of you look out upon the city. It’d taken you a little over three hours to get here, to the highest peak in Seoul. Standing up here, you feel… calm, serene. Like all that weight on your shoulders has slipped from them, falling away like leaves from an autumn tree. Here, you feel like you can conquer whatever the world throws at you.

           “Thank you for coming with me today,” Yoongi says, turning his head to look at you. You do the same, meeting his gaze with a soft smile. You hope whatever worries he may have had have fallen away, too. You hope he left them in a trash can at the bottom of this mountain, hopes they’ll be gone by the time you return to the bottom. You want him to feel this light all the time, unburdened by the world he lives in.

           “I’m your girlfriend,” you say, “You don’t have to thank me for this. It’s something you like to do, so I wanted to give it a try.” You shrug and look back out at the view. You wonder if you will see your apartment if you try hard enough.

           “Yeah? What do you think?”

           “I think… it’s freeing,” you hum, drawing your brows together in contemplation. “I feel lighter up here than I did at the bottom. I’ve been worrying about work, about…” About the fans of his that have been sending you death threats ever since you publicly announced your relationship. “… other stuff. Up here, though, it all seems so small.”

           You feel his lips press against the side of your head. “So you liked it, then?”

           You nod. “I loved it.” You curl against his side and sigh. Has the city always been this small? “I love you.”

           He rolls his eyes and pulls you closer, a puff of laughter passing his lips. Resting his chin against your head, he says, “Next time, we’ll hike Dobongsan.”

           “Sounds good.”
