Ever After High Isekai

Raven and Apple are isekai’d into a novel. Raven as the villainess and Apple as the heroine. Raven doesn’t know the story or the tropes, she was never into romantic fantasy that much, but Apple does recognize the story. It’s one of Blondie’s favorites, and of course she would remember her friend’s favorite books! Though she may not exactly remember who “Blondie” is.

They realize quickly that for some reason their memories are all fuzzy and foggy. They can kind of remember things from before but almost no details or context. But that doesn’t stop Apple from being excited! They probably have to fulfill their roles and then they can go home right? This would show Raven how good it is to follow your destiny, she would see that everything would turn out fine!

At least, Apple would think that way until she finally remembered what ending was left in store for the villainess. There’s absolutely no way Apple would leave Raven from such a fate, story or not. They’ll just have to figure out another way to go home.

when you find an eah modern au fic of apple moving into raven's apartment and you eagerly read it bc it was also tagged with dexter/raven AND daring/lizzie and its going well, the characters in a modern setting are portrayed so well and its funny and then BAM! only one chapter released and it was last updated in 2015

My inability to write anything chronologically has hit so here’s a conversation from a later point in my Charming Conundrums AU (Ever After High Murdoch Mysteries AU). The context is Dexter hasn’t spoken to any member of his family since he was disowned six years ago, and now he’s investigating the murder of the father that disowned him. The murder that happened at a Family Ball.

Yeah. The whole family’s there, and they’re all suspects (except Good-Enough, who couldn’t have committed the murder because he’s left handed).

So, anyway, here’s a bit of how Daring’s interview goes. (Off track, horribly off track. These dumbasses need therapy.) It’s rough but please cut me some slack this is one of the few times I’ve posted some of my writing, like, ever.

“What you had to do?” Dexter spat incredulously. “What you had to do? Tell me, Daring, did you have to ignore me on the street every time you passed me for the past six years? Did you have to return every letter I sent you unopened? Did you have to completely erase me from your life?!”

“Dammit Dexter!” Daring shouted. “After you got assigned to Station House 4, I changed my daily route just to get a glimpse of you! I would hold your letters up to the candle light to try and make out as much information as I could without opening the envelope!” His elder brother seemed to realize then just how loud he was being. With visible effort, he lowered his voice back to acceptable levels. “I never wanted to erase you from my life, little brother.”

“But, as for your question…” Daring slumped, his ever perfect posture evaporating like water on a summer’s day. Dexter was discomfited by the sight. He wasn’t used to seeing his elder brother so tired.

“Yes,” Daring sighed. “I did. Because if I did anything less, then they’d have thrown me out without a second thought as well. And then…”

“…who would be left to shield Darling?” Dexter finished.

His twin’s proclivities, both hobby-wise and romantic, would be an absolute scandal if they ever were discovered. Or worse, if their parents should be the ones to learn the truth about their perfect little debutante. Dexter shuddered internally, recalling how pale Darling was after she was let out of one of her parentally mandated confinement periods. For her health, their parents had said, but the truth was clear to both boys. What their parents truly meant was for our displeasure.

Daring’s thoughts must have gone in a similar direction. “Exactly,” he said. “You know what it was like in that house. The constant pressure for perfection, the expectation of total obedience. Still, as bad as we had it, at least we were never locked in our rooms for weeks at a time.”

Dexter nodded grimly. “And if that was their standard response to petty grievances, what would they do if they found out about Darling’s…other interests,” he said carefully, not quite sure just how privy Daring was to their sister’s secrets.

Not All Stories

When Milton Grimm found a new story titled “Candy Land” he didn’t expect it to lead to connecting with another world and then suddenly accepting some new students who don’t seem to have the slightest idea to how destiny’s work.

Not All Stories Need Destiny, Some are Fine Without

The world of Candy Land is similar to Wonderland in the way that it's a completely separate dimension to EAH, but is more like Monster High in the fact that no one has a clue about the other world (besides Cupid of course).

In Candy Land, the world runs fluidly, continuing on with no stops and everything is just how it is. The Candies live their lives with no expectations of specific events happening in any type of order, which is important for them because in terms of their "story" it's always changing.

In the original story, Lord Licorice may have been the villain and there was a cast of characters who helped the Candy kids save King Kandy and Candy Land, but that was the past. Since then, there've been many instances of Fairy Queen Lolly needing to call upon the Candy kids to help Candy Land in crisis, but each time has been completely different and even the cast of characters who help have completely changed from time to time.

The current generation doesn't have any recollection of the Gingerbread Tree and their family, which is currently Count Ginger and his family, or the fact that Licorice and the original Mint family joined ages ago under the Licorice name and now the current Mint family is just a small distance branch of the original, or the fact that before Lolly became Queen of the Fairies, her ancestors were a part of the royal family.

These points in history were only possible because there was no belief in imitating their original story. The people of Candy Land don't even acknowledge that old legend as fact anyway, so following it isn't something they would imagine outside of maybe kids playing pretend. So there's no reason for kids to take after their parents unless they want to, and there's no outside force or pressure that could make them. Even the suggestion of the loss of free will and choice would be horrifying to the Candies.

But they're unaware of this new dimension and they intend to at least give it all a chance before making a decision. They'll first see how this world works and go from there.

Cupid continued. “According to every single family reunion, Grandma married Great-Uncle-Step-Grandpa Hephaestus after- yes?” Cupid asked, seeing Apple’s raised hand.

“Um, I’m sorry Cupid,” Apple said, an awkward yet still somehow flawless smile on her face. “Did you say ‘Great-Uncle-Step-Grandpa’?”

“Yep!” Cupid nodded. “My dad’s the son of Aphrodite and Ares, God of War, Great-Uncle-Step-Grandpa’s brother.” Blondie didn’t know if Cupid didn’t see Apple’s scandalized expression or just chose to ignore it. “But that’s jumping a couple of slides ahead. Trust me, we’ll get there.”

“Now, as I was saying, Grandma married Step-Grandpa after Step-Grandpa trapped Great-Grandma Hera by tying her to a chair. Revenge for throwing him off Olympus as a baby cause she thought he was ugly, at least that’s what I get from their arguments at every family event.”

Blondie felt her eye twitch.

“But- wait, you know what? I think I ordered these slides wrong, hold on,” Cupid said before messing around with the projector for a moment. When she finished a new zoomed in section of the family tree had taken the place of the previous one. “I’m backtracking a little.”

She pointed to a pair of dots near the top of the structure. “So, Gaea and Uranus had the Titans, Cyclopes, and Hekatonkheires, Uranus threw the Cyclopes and Hekatonkheires down the pit of Tartarus because they were ugly in his eyes, and the youngest Titan Kronos helped his mother overthrow his father as vengeance, we covered that.” She pointed to two other dots below Gaea and Uranus, connected to each other and to the Earth and Sky deities by lines. “Kronos became King of the Universe and married his sister Rhea—“

“WHAT?!?!” Cupid was cut off by the cacophony of confused and disgusted students. Blondie glanced over at Professor Piper to see if he’d attempt to reign in the class, and instead saw him staring blankly out a window, eyes glazed over.

(Unbeknownst to the students, Professor Piper was stoned on one of Baba Yaga’s insanely strong edibles. At that moment, he was entirely absorbed in the beauty of the clouds and could not be counted on to stop this insanity.)

Blondie returned her gaze to her roommate, who was digging around in her bag for some reason. The reporter watched wide eyed — though, to be fair, she’d been wide eyed since Cupid’s presentation took a hard left turn into appendage chopping — as her friend pulled an air horn out of her bag.

BWOOOOT

The students were silenced by the sudden blare. As slackjawed faxes returned their attention to her Cupid sighed. “Really guys,” she sighed. “If you act like that every time I mention incest then we’re never gonna get through this.”

That triggered another round of chaos. Cupid once again blared her horn. The class quieted once more. Cupid shook her head in disappointment, which was totally unfairest of her in Blondie’s opinion. You couldn’t just drop news like that on people out of nowhere. You did it on a daily mirrorcast like a sensible person.
