Parallelism: On why RonToto is so real

On episode 4, before Amamiya fainted over the beauty of Ron Kamonohashi, she got a closer look in his eyes as the latter glanced at her doing his “yes, I solved who the culprit is” fwish-fwish gesture. His icy blue eyes shining, very exposed. She fell in love. (“So steaming hot!”)

During the first episode, Ron had a closer look at Toto. He was enamoured. How could be that this naïve police officer was determined to bring him back to detective business?

Toto, on the other hand, although he admires and respects his boss Amamiya, there is no desire involved.

This trope is called Eating the Eye Candy.

There's just something completely gorgeous about that other character. The character just can't help but stare and drool over their gleaming smile, sapphire eyes, or any other attractive features.

Akira Amano decided early on where the story is going. Series composition writer Wataru Watari is interpreting her vision. It is safe to say that the manga has never included nor focused on Amamiya’s eye. Meaning, the anime writers wanted to emphasise the significance of this trope to the possible pairings. We can rest assured who the OTP is in this series.

Speedrunning the Fontinalia festival in Genshin made me think of the possibility of a similar TWST event, where we make a film alongside the characters.

Maybe a Vil hometown event, where we can meet his father and create a film via twstunes, with the main problem being Vil's old bullies trying to sabotage the production/ compete in the film festival.

Since it's in the Shaftlands, it can even be a Vil, Jack AND Cater hometown event, with each of them bringing a few classmates (Vil brings Ortho and Epel to help with filming, Jack and Ruggie drag Leona along, and Cater brought Riddle because there's a festival with SWEETS). The groups all run into each other in the fair and come together to create the film, based on Beauty and the Beast.

Funny moments include Leona and Vil bickering, Cater as the lead actor, Riddle using magic for special effects, the bullies running for their lives because they insulted Vil, causing Ortho, Epel, Jack and Riddle to get mad, etc.

They also got snowed in for a night at an abandoned castle near the outskirts of the town. Most of the film took place there.

#the groups met because everyone heard the bullies insulting Vil and ran to attack #Vil was already trying to stop Epel and Ortho from pulverizing the bullies #only for Jack to appear in his wolf form. Hey, I did see your post about one of the tropes that RonToto has. According to you, aside from "Eating the Eye Candy" trope, what is the other tropes (either underrated or not) that you think RonToto is fitting in, and why?

Dear anon, thank you for this ask. I didn’t forget your ask. Bit of an airhead, I didn’t know where to start.

Anyways, the most obvious of all is Akira’s use of height differences. Tumblr popularised this trope a decade ago to describe two characters with glaring height difference, tol/smol. I don’t think it has to do with being dominant or submissive, but both Toto and Ron have these qualities.

The Red Oni, Blue Oni. In this particular trope, Toto Isshiki is defined as the red oni:

A red oni is associated with passion, wildness, and defiance. A Red Oni character is often more brawny than brainy, extroverted, enthusiastic, determined, and filled with a zest for life. They are also much more likely to break conventions and rules than their counterpart. Often an Idiot Hero or, in more mature pieces, a Boisterous Bruiser. If a Red Oni is indeed noticeably intelligent, they will still be much more wild and impetuous than the Blue Oni and/or with less sophisticated thoughts, feelings, or goals. Generally speaking, they're more people-oriented than goal-oriented (although both Onis can be either). They may or may not shrug off criticism about themselves or their aims and goals, but say or do something nasty to their closest friends and you've just guaranteed yourself a world of pain.

… The Red Oni, while usually the more passionate and emotion-driven, may be the more easy-going and flexible of the two.

On the other hand, Ron is the typical Blue oni.

The Blue Oni is associated with serenity, control and observing authority. A Blue Oni is more intellectual, proud, traditional, introverted, and cultured (sometimes more spiritual, although that's not guaranteed), if a Blue Oni is indeed physically strong, they tend to be Genius Bruisers, with the calm, collected intelligence of a typical Blue Oni character combined with the physical prowess of a typical Red Oni character. Blue Oni personalities are often respected by others, but also likely to puzzle, confound or even intimidate their peers because they are difficult to read and have a mysterious quality to them.

It is also amusing that if you go on reading the trope there’s also a purple Oni. In this particular manga, it could be none other than Spitz Feier.

So far, that’s what I think they are. Subject to change once I find out more tropes. Thank you so much for waiting.

You ever think Steven would go to Africa, and revive newly poached or killed lions/lionesses for Lion, so he could have his own pride? Steven seems like the kind of guy to do research in order to do whatever it takes to give animals a happy and healthy life. And since lions are a social species, I can imagine Steven giving Lion a whole pride to make him happy!

To be completely honest, that never crossed my mind. I just thought he'd be content with hanging around Steven/Connie and just wanders off to do his own thing.

But maybe he will do that eventually.

I do wonder if the lionesses will still find him less attractive-looking when they themselves are all pink too. Lol Like, yeah he has long voluminous main. But it's pink. And a pale pink at that. 🤔

And it does make me curious what it would be like to have a pride of pink zombie lions in Africa. Will they be more chill because they don't have to eat/hunt for food anymore and they won't have babies to be super protective about (and then it's more possible to pet or snuggle a lion?! 😍) Or will they still be dangerous because they're still territorial. Maybe they won't attack if you're not a threat?

They need to upgrade those caged vehicles tho because with how they're build right now, there's no way they'd be safe if those gets blasted with such a concussive roar.
