Maddie: I heard you've been looking for me.
Athena: Well, I heard that you might know about a few important things up your sleeve.
Maddie, produces a thick book from her coat: I keep the most dangerous things under my coat.
Athena, shields her eyes: "The Master Guide on How to Handle Buck", what a powerful artifact!
Buck, sipping a milkshake at the same table: I feel like I should be insulted.
Eddie Diaz killed his first werewolf one month before his twelfth birthday and knew that it was wrong. It was too soon. It was customary that a Diaz would make their first kill at 15, but his father sat him down and told him that he needed to be a man now. So he did it.
What he didn't know was that his mother was pregnant with his sister. What he didn't know was that his father would be home less and less. What he didn't know was that the tension between the werewolves and the hunters was getting worse and worse. Or maybe he did and just didn't want to.
What did know was that he needed to be a man, so he shoved a wooden stake into a woman's heart, saw the life drain out of her eyes, and he knew that it was wrong.

fic moodboard inspired by into the fire by @gayhoediaz
Buck thinks he could be drenched in gasoline and lit on fire, and it wouldn’t make a difference - he wouldn’t know - he’s already there; they’re it. Their bodies together. Them together.
After all, this is what a fire is - it’s what a fire does. It doesn’t matter how controlled it is, or how contained - a fireplace, or even a harmless, small candle flame - all it takes is one mistake - one misstep - and it devours everything in its path with ruthless enthusiasm.
I was stunned and amazed to be shown this today. Someone liked my Merman Buck fic so much that they used it to practise learning how to book bind (for personal use and enjoyment only, no selling dw).
LOOK HOW PRETTY IT IS!!! omg. If you've read the fic you will know just how apt this cover is. I am so honoured and touched and just utterly gobsmacked that someone liked something I wrote enough to do this. Just... wow.
Here's a link to the fic if anyone is interested: Cherish
Summary:
After surviving the tsunami with Christopher, Buck found himself suffering the consequences of his actions during the lawsuit. Isolated from his loved ones, plagued by nightmares and a deep fear of water, once his most cherished element, he begins a solitary journey to conquer his water-based trauma. Months later, Buck has long ago reconciled with the 118, and he and Eddie have grown closer than they’d ever been.
Then Buck’s plans to unveil his new hobby to his fire family are abruptly thwarted by an unforeseen accident, leaving everyone in a state of shock – and the future of any relationship with Eddie uncertain.
My greatest fear (obviously I’m exaggerating) is Taylor Kelly making a comeback as Buck’s love interest. My only reason for fearing her come back is because I can imagine a plot, where they use the life alert bracelet Buck gifted her for Christmas as a way back into Buck’s life and they rekindle their romance from there.
