Advice for the signs based on which element dominates your chart 🔥🌍💧💨
i was meditating and recieved great insight into the thought process of some signs through the literal embodiments of their element.
Earth signs: are grounded and practical but they can also easily get stuck literally or mentally in certain thought processes, because just like the earth it takes a lot to get them to actually move or change, like earthquakes or mudslides or even Pangea just over long periods of time, or sometimes it just needs a comet to come in and completely change the way they work or think, they need to remember that they cannot let themselves become stagnant and know that though it takes great effort to change--especially the way they think, they have the hands to mold who they wish to become.
Fire signs: ever changing, growing and always going towards what brings them joy or enlightenment, can feel like they over power a space and are lonely in their growth, but free in their dance to learn the balance between destruction and creation and what it means for them, to keep finding a light or to be their own, they are centered and sure of what they want but their unpredictable way of moving and changing can be jarring to others, while others might fear them because of their self assuredness they need to remember their center of good and come from a place of warmth, you can be your own light, but don't let your self destructiveness take over
Air signs: free flowing, goes where the wind takes them, sometimes not being able to put action into their own lives but other times being lucky enough to be in the right place at the right time, but they can get sucked into their own heads lost in thought and unsure of where they're going, Air signs abstract patterns are what keeps them excited but can make them lonely, they need to flow with life while knowing which direction they're going, and to let others into their lives and not let the people they like slip from their grasp from being too carried away with other things, sometimes you need someone to keep you grounded, it's okay to need others
Water signs: can sometimes fall too deep into their emotions, accidently consuming themselves in their own waves or the ripples created by others, can turn themselves into the most fearsome tsunami rather than remembering the calm waters they can have, always absorbing other waters, you need to center your emotions within yourself and remember that you are a creature of growth, ever changing, some days you will feel like a smooth sailing river and other days will feel like thrashing rain, and you need to center yourself and remember that that is okay

Now I've been going through my old grimoire and so far, I've got
Tips to know before practising witchcraft
Elemental Witchcraft: Water Magick
Shielding, centering, and grounding
Sigils
A spell
A few diary entries
Shells (a list)
Cleansing a space
Colour Magick
The Pentacle / Pentagram
Imbolc (notes from a podcast)
Rituals
Study spells
The Moon: some facts
Moon Magick
Auras
Meditation
Intention and vision boards
Méditations based on the Moon phases
Magickal self-care
Dream Journalling
The books I've read so far are:
Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials: Mabon, Yule, Imbolc, and Ostara
Water Magic by Lilith Dorsey
Air Magic by Astrea Taylor
Fire Magic by Josephine Winter
Earth Magic by Dodie Graham Mckay
Moon Magic by Diane Ahlquist
Moon Spells by Diane Ahlquist (NOTE: I'm not quite sure if Diane Ahlquist identifies with witchcraft, so I wouldn't base my entire practice of Moon magick from her books)
Pastel Spells by Orriculum Rose
The Modern Witch's Guide to Magickal Self-Care by Tenae Stewart
The Witch's Book of Self-Care by Anne Murphy-Hiscock
I HIGHLY recommend starting out with the books on self-care for beginner witches, even though there aren't any rules about where you start learning. This is only because it's easy to get burned out or feel overwhelmed by the lack of rules, and we all need reminders to slow down and take care of ourselves nowadays. Tenae Stewart's book tells us to find out for ourselves, while Anne Murphy-Hiscock's book has plenty of ideas and tips for beginners.
The Witch of Wonderlust channel on YouTube has also been incredibly helpful, and I also listened to some episodes of thecomfycozywitch podcast.

Working with Air
Tumblr media
Welcome to the third part of my elemental series! Today we will explore some aspects of working with air like offerings, devotional activities, common lessons, aspects, and more! With all that said lets get started!
To preface: I am a devotee to water itself, I am a west witch practioner which means I work within the domain of water, the past, divination, and psyche! I also am a general elemental practioner and have experience working with all of the elements and their aspects!
What is working with air like?
While looking at verified gnosis and cultural nuance some things remain familiar, things like air being both stagnant and rushing, life giving, and more! It is a major backbone (Much like all the elements are for each other) in the way that all organisms that preform aerobic respiration (Air breathing) need oxygen, air, and a form of atmosphere including water based animals. Air does not have a concept of gender (same with all the elements), however you can always ask as a bonding opportunity or follow a cultural addition that may apply pronouns to an element.
In general, air is primordial, but it is considered one of the youngest of the elements mainly because magma, water, and a form of earth had existed before O2, and an actual atmosphere. With that in mind, the air ended up facilitating a lot of growth here on earth, and from there air has many aspects! Air has tempest, dead air, atmosphere, wind, and breath! There are plenty of types of air spirits like syliphs, Sylphons, Spirulites, and more.
Some people work with wind, air anomaly's like tornados and wind storms, and breathwork. Wind and breath teaches more gentle and peaceful lessons about how to take a step back and take a moment for yourself. Someone who works with tempest might receive more lessons relating to coming into your own power and growing a backbone. Each aspect will have different lessons and personality traits, but each of them still follow the same lessons of balance between motion and pause, and even speaking.
In your relationship you may be called to breath work, using feathers, and more that we will be discussing a bit later, however air is will see us like any other animal, and is more apprehensive to engage in a conversation so practioners may have to call out to it first. UPG: Air is really rushing and sometimes can be overwhelming, and we have had many wonderful conversations relating to hard work, taking things as they come, and not falling into unhealthy stagnation. Air has not been very direct and tends to come as needed into my space and isnt an omnipresent force! In general I have needed to call on it first for information or advice, it is also quite stoic and serious when needed but also upbeat and kind when needed.
Finally, air does have some birth connotations, but they are directly indicative of the relationships it has with other elements. Air cannot do its job in a vacuum like space until some level of atmosphere is established. However 'air' can mean different things to different people, and in a way taking a first breath is life!
What are common offerings?
People tend to keep an altar to air near doorways, windows, and living rooms because of the rush of energy as people walk through doors, the energy of change from windows, and more! historically a lot of air honoring comes from within like being outdoors, having windows open, and doing breath work in a special place because of the motion you can feel from the air.
In air practices there are heavy emphasis on working and action! this comes from most of air needing to be moved to be felt, as often times we dont notice when we are breathing or walking through the precious gas. Moving air like with breath, feathers, and fans can be really helpful.
Some common practices include meditation and breath work, energy motion, dance, song, using feathers, fans, and incense scrying are all really common aspects of work! Another aspect is action, doing divination with clouds, the sky, and smoke is helpful, and then another thing is storm chasing, tracking the weather, and observing the atmosphere can also be really good forms of connection.
What are some correspondences?

Storm Water ⛈️
Storm Water is water that is infused with the energy of a Storm!
Tumblr media
You can make Storm Water either by filling a container of water with the rain coming from a Storm (With intention), or by leaving a container of water by a windowsill, or outside, during a Storm with the set intention of the water being infused with the Storms energy.
Storm Water Energy ⛈️
Though the energy can vary depending on the type of Storm, there are common themes.
Intense Power | Anger | Intensity | Confidence
Uses: Hexes, Curses, Shadow Work, and any spell you want to add a lot of extra power into.
Advice for Making Storm Water:
Whatever method you choose, set your intention in whatever way works best for you.
If you believe Storms have a spirit, ask the spirit of the Storm to infuse your water with all of its energy, and thank him too.
Pop a smoky quarts or black crystal into your container to use as a magnet to draw this energy in.
Visualize or watch the storm vividly, then imagine it's energy as a grey light, wrapping around and filling your container until it shines brightly.
Try to collect your water soon after the storm.
💫 Follow for more witchy info dumps, I'm an experienced witch and I'm going to cover loads of different topics 💫

Places: lakes/ponds, sea/ocean, beaches, swimming pools, bathroom, cold climate, tides.

Ritual Types: divination, enchanting, cleansing, dowsing, astral travel, lucid dreaming, healing, lunar magic, scrying.
MAGICK NOTES:
Introducing water magic to everyday life is the easiest of all the elements!
While making tea, imagine putting good energy/intention into it and then drink it to have a good day! Afterwards (if you have time and skills) you can feel free to do divination, using leftover tea leaves.
While taking a bath/shower in the evening, imagine the water pouring onto you to be white/light in color and the water dripping off of you to be black/greyish color. I use it to cleanse myself of all the negative energy.
Looking into mirror as a divination is a very disturbing experience for me! Like, it’s effective, it can get weird though.
Water in a spray bottle can be used for space cleansing if you don’t wanna use incense all the time. Also it’s good for the indoor plants if you have any!
Washing dishes is another ritual of mine and it’s a good way to meditate. I just get lost in thought.
If you want to practice water magic, follow moon phases and use them to your advantage!
Water magic is not necessarily only gathering water and using it, but also perfoming spells or doing anything spiritual during specific weather conditions (ex.: raining, storm, snowing, hail stones).
TYPES OF WATER USED IN SPELLS:
Moon Water - great for all kinds of spells and craft! Moon water can have different abilities, all depending on during which moon phase we charged it in. The best water is the one charged during full moon or super moon as it is the most powerful.
Sun Water - keywords: positivity, strenght, happiness, courage, good health.
Rain Water - good for cleansing, meditation and relaxation. Keywords: growth, regeneration, cleansing, rest.
River Water - good for warding or spells with a clear goal as river water has a focused energy. Keywords: movement, action, flow.
Lake/Pond Water - I find it good for connecting with nature or animals. Could be used in animal magic. Keywords: wildness, nature, hidden, isolation.
Swamp/Mud Water - good for curses, hexes, binding, wishing someone bad health. Keywords: disease, dirty work, sticky, messy.
Sea Water - good for protection, banishing and any form of spell that needs powerful but calm energy. Keywords: vastness, life, fear.
Dew Water - keywords: vulnerability, peace, refreshing, delicate, calm, waiting. Good for Fae communication or any creature that is elusive.
Storm Water - good for spells that needs a lot of power. Be warned though, it’s very different from the sea water; it’s uncontrolled, chaotic and doesn’t last long. There’s a lot of anger and destructive energy.
Ice/Snow Water - keywords: endings, change, patience, harmony, growth.
Cemetery Water - good for necromancy, of course. You can put some in a spray bottle and spray it in a room in which you want to communicate with the dead.
Well Water - keywords: wishing, domesticity, home, family, community. Could be good for communicating with spirits/creatures living near or in your house.
Fog/Mist - keywords: invisibility, mystery, hidden, blindness. Spells including ‘clouding someone’s judgement’, those in which you want to stay anonymous as much as you can or those who will slowly start working over time.
~*~FIRE~*~
Tumblr media
Direction: South. Time of the Day: Noon. Season: Summer. Colors: red, orange, yellow, gold. Sense: Sight. Cycle of Life: Youth. Instruments: string instruments (guitar, violin etc.) Plants: spices, strong-smelling, stinging or irritating the skin, resembles sun or fire, thrives in warm weather/sun/hot climate. Animals: lion, tigers, cats, lizards, foxes, snakes, scorpions, coyote. Places: hot climate, bedroom, hot springs, volcanoes, desert.
Gender: Masculine. Tarot: Wands/Torches. Zodiac: Leo, Sagittarius, Aries. Planets: Jupiter, Mars, Sun. Energy: Projective. Creative. Transformative. Crystals: red/orange/yellow/pink crystals. Mythical Beings: Dragons, Phoenix, Demons, Fire Giants, Golems, Jinns, Cyclops, Chimera, Fire Fae.
Ritual Tools: candles, lamp, sunlight, spices, ashes, metals, bones, hair/nails, firewood, matches, knives, alcohol, charcoal. Ritual Forms: cooking, baking, grilling, heating, sunbathing, having sex, intimacy, dancing, candle work, cauldron work, taking a risk, burning. Ritual Types: divination, enchanting, cleansing, protection, purification, transformation, destructive magic, banishing.
MAGICK NOTES
It’s not as easy to introduce fire to everyday life as it was with water but it’s not impossible!
The easiest thing to do is to use fire/heat in baking/cooking/grilling. For me, the fire is all about protection and destruction (sometimes cleansing but it’s cleansing by destructive force) so by using it, we get rid of all the bad stuff inside of us.
Sun is the ultimate ally to fire magic and so are stars! Sun brings us life and happiness but it also makes us sweat like pigs so, for me, it’s still cleansing by destruction. Meditation during star gazing is great and I feel like spending time with someone under starry night sky is the best thing to deepen the connection! It’s also good to just talk out loud to either a deity or a spirit guide.
I find all physical sports to be fire-related but dancing is the biggest one! Sweating, lots of energy but also fun is a great way to connect to your inner fire. Sports involving adrenaline are also fire-y.
The most common way to practice fire magick is to burn stuff. Incense, paper, bay leaves. It’s good for manifestation, protection or banishing.
In general, be careful with fire. I find the safest option is to just use candles. Down below, there’s not many examples of how to use different types in spells but I included keywords so you can decide on your own if it speaks to you or if you want to try it at all.
TYPES OF FIRE USED IN SPELLS:
Bonfire - keywords: friendship, community peace, happiness, fun.
Torch Flame/Lantern - keywords: wildness, rawness, travel, guidance, focused.
Lightning - keywords: chaos, destruction, power, fear.
Sunlight - happiness, positivity, joy, strenght, courage.
Candle Flame - generally good for everything and commonly used. The main type of fire magick.
Burning Flame - it could be small burning flame (aka candle flame) or when you take specific things (like your ex’s things) and burn them in a big pile to move on/banish them. All depends on the intention.
Match’s Flame - keywords: elusive, short-lasting, quick. Can be used in any types of spells or even divination. We light the match and wait for it to burn. If it doesn’t then the spell won’t work/the answer is no, etc. I’ll elaborate in a different post.
Grilling Fire/Heat - keywords: abundance, prosperity, survival.
Cemetery Candle Flame - necromancy again. Better to perform at a cemetery, rather than at home.
Heat - keywords: energy flow, cleansing.
~*~AIR~*~
Tumblr media
Direction: East. Time of the Day: Morning/Sunrise. Season: Spring. Colors: white, transparent, gray. Sense: Hearing. Cycle of Life: Infancy. Instruments: wind instruments (flute etc.). Plants: plants with strong aroma, plants located high, plants with pollen/heavily pollinating. Animals: birds, flying insects. Places: mountains, high buildings, schools, offices, libraries, airports, travel agencies.
Gender: Masculine. Tarot: Swords/Knives/Daggers. Zodiac: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius. Planets: Uranus, Venus, Mercury. Energy: Projective. Mental. Elusive. Crystals: white/clear/gray crystals. Mythical Beings: Pegasus, Gryphons, Zephyrs, Fae of Trees, Striga, Gremlins.
Ritual Tools: feathers, bells, incense, brooms, wands, fans, balloons, ribbons, wind chimes, dream catchers.  Ritual Forms: music (singing, playing instruments, creating), burning incense, listening/talking/communicating, writing, meditation, spending time outside, hanging objects, learning. Ritual Types: divination, enchanting, learning, chaos magic, storm magic.
MAGICK NOTES
Not much I can say about air magic but I’ll try my hardest.
Air is a very elusive element so there are no actual material uses.
As you can see in ‘Ritual Forms’ I listed some examples of how I see practicing air magic which is mostly through music (but also painting/drawing!). It’s all the things that require your brain and focus.
However, there are some actual spiritual option for all the folks that wants to practice air magick.
Follow atmospheric conditions and perform spells accordingly. Spend time outside and focus on the wind surrounding you.
Work with birds! There is a form of divination called crow counting.
There’s a lot of types of air divination like shuffling songs, throwing stuff, by pendulum or Nephomancy (by clouds). There’s a whole wikipedia page about that!
~*~EARTH~*~
Tumblr media
Direction: North. Time of the Day: Midnight. Season: Winter. Colors: green, brown, black. Sense: Touch. Cycle of Life: Advanced Age. Instruments: drums. Plants: all plants, mushrooms, moss. Animals: dogs, wolves, insects, cow, horse, bull. Places: forest, meadow, park, kitchen, basement, caves, canyon, mines.
Gender: Feminine. Tarot: Pentacles/Coins/Discs. Zodiac: Taurus, Capricorn, Virgo. Planets: Saturn, Venus, Mercury. Energy: Perceptive. Physical. Crystals: green/brown/black crystals. Mythical Beings: Dwarves, Fae, Dryads, Gnomes, Goblins, Trolls.
Ritual Tools: rocks, crystals, leaves, herbs, seeds, flowers, dirt, coins, food, wood, cards, books. Ritual Forms: cooking, baking, gardening, handmade stuff, walks in the nature, spending time with animals, offerings, cleaning the house/nature. Ritual Types: divination, enchanting, grounding, binding, animal magic, leaving the old behind.
MAGICK NOTES:
Practicing earth magick is really easy. It’s all about grounding, nature work, animals and using your two hands.
The most recognizable form of earth magick is kitchen and animal magick!
I find earth magic to be the most peaceful but isolated and unburdened magick of all! It minds its own business, it just want to be left alone and do whatever it does the best. It’s my favourite!
There’s not much to say because I think earth magick is pretty self-explanatory.
TYPES OF EARTH USED IN SPELLS:
Ashes - it all depends on what we burnt. Sage ashes are good for protection/cleansing, bay leaves ashes for wishing/manifesting. In case of paper ashes it depends on what we used the paper for/what was written on it.
Cemetery Dirt - necromancy again!
Regular Dirt - can be used in spell involving banishing, letting go, unbinding, manifestation.
Used Tea Leaves - if we made the intention, then the usage of the leaves depend on the intention! If not, then we might focus on the type of tea we drank. The leaves are also good for divination.
Destroyed Crystals (in small particles) - depends on the crystal!
Ashes From The Bonfire - or so called wood ashes. Can be used in spells involving cleansing/banishing/letting go/unbinding.

Okay hear me out - Colour and elemental magick
Elements- Fire and Water, now fire puts out water in physical form, BUT…
Magickal wise, fire = energy, water = emotions
Could that mean fiery emotions ? An that I want to keep my fiery charge on the peaceful side - but maybe that’s just how my brain associates those with.

connecting with the elements
just wanted to share some ways that i connect with the elements on a daily basis! note that i don’t do all of these every single day, but i usually do one thing for each element daily.
also, though i do believe in spirit as the fifth element, i also believe that it’s present in everything we do, so i won’t be writing a separate section for that.
fire 🔥
lighting a candle, taking the time to feel the sun’s warmth on my skin, doing something that i’m particularly passionate about (especially if it’s a physical activity, like dancing!), wearing red/orange/bright yellow/gold
earth 🌱
tending to/caring for my plants, walking around barefoot (in areas where it’s safe/appropriate, such as indoors or in the garden) or generally taking a walk outside, wearing green/brown/other earth tones
water 🌊
drinking water (usually when i first wake up), washing my hands/taking a shower with intention, spraying moon water around my space, listening to the rain, wearing blue/grey/silver/white
air 💨
lighting incense, meditation with a focus on breathing/breath work, opening the windows and feeling the breeze, turning on the air conditioner/electric fan on a warm day, wearing white/light blue/light yellow
feel free to share ways that you connect to the elements, too!

Working with Fire
Tumblr media
Welcome to the Second part of my elemental series! Today we will explore some aspects of working with fire like offerings, devotional activities, common lessons, aspects, and more! With all that said lets get started!
To preface: I am a devotee to water itself, I am a west witch practioner which means I work within the domain of water, the past, divination, and psyche! I also am a general elemental practioner and have experience working with all of the elements and their aspects!
What is working with fire like?
The verified gnosis will vary from culture to culture but some things remain consistent! Fire has aspects of destruction, control, warmth, light, and more! Whether its torches being used in studies to learn, the sun being honored as a ball of fire, or the destruction of a warring city being burnt down, fire is both volatile and chaotic but it also is controlled and helpful. Fire doesn't have a gender (Neither do any of the elements) so venerating the divine energy itself is a complicated and beautiful concept.
In general, Fire is considered primordial in its raging and free form, however it has modern connotations because of how it has interacted with mankind! Its more peaceful and loving traits stem directly from people. Some of the aspects include bonfire, forest fires, magma, lava, and torch! All of which have been venerated to some degree
Some of the lessons you learn will depend on how you interact with fire itself. Even in forest fires and after destruction there is this idea of rebirth and coming back together from the helpful ashes. The phoenix is a wonderful example of this, a bright bird rising from the ashes! Fire touches on anger issues, and in a torch form, control. Fire teaches us how to control and regulate our actions to create a really helpful and roaring spirit much like what we can learn from a bonfire!
Some things to note is fires personality is not set in stone, it can be loving and nurturing, manipulative and warring, and every emotion in between. The elements are not omnipotent nor omnipresent because they physically exist, so you may have better luck lighting a fire or keeping a dagger on the altar to represent the flame! Don't be surprised if you are called to fire if you have problems with anger, manipulation, or really deep rooted shadow traits. In a working relationship you may be called to cook with fire, enjoy bonfires, do spells using candles and knives, taking note of controlled bunings, and being pushed into new things. Note that to the elements we are animals like any bear, bird, or lion! Fire tends to be more direct than other elements.
UPG: In my experience, fire is really sporadic, I was doing a spell and all of a sudden my bedroom floor was on fire because the energy took control. Fire is very direct and my clairs have a really easy time hearing it talk to me in day to day life. Fire has a couple flaws when it comes to anger and manipulation often being considered a trickster spirit that messes with practioners to prove a point!
Another thing to note is fire does not have a direct birth connotation, instead a rebirth connotation! Fire itself cannot create life until after it has died via ash. Because of this rebirth connotation it can be really helpful when it comes to earthly transcendence or working with your witches eye!
What are common offerings?
Most people place an altar to fire in a bedroom, kitchen, or the hearth of the home! bedrooms can be warm and intimate spaces, kitchens often delve into heat and sometimes fire, but the hearth historically contained the fire in the home because it helped keep people warm! Fire can enjoy hand picked items however it especially likes a space to just be! Think candles, plenty of warmth, etc!
There is not a heavy emphasis on action, but rather feeding fire itself within spell works and offerings! Things like sacrificing herbs into flame, cooking and letting some of the food char if it falls out of the pan, and even setting up bonfires and gatherings outside!
Make sure that you are focusing on all aspects of fire safety!!! You need a fire safe altar (ceramic bottoms, fire repellant cloth, etc) and you dont do something like leaving a flame on, and unattendant, and more!
