Now I've been going through my old grimoire and so far, I've got
Tips to know before practising witchcraft
Elemental Witchcraft: Water Magick
Shielding, centering, and grounding
Sigils
A spell
A few diary entries
Shells (a list)
Cleansing a space
Colour Magick
The Pentacle / Pentagram
Imbolc (notes from a podcast)
Rituals
Study spells
The Moon: some facts
Moon Magick
Auras
Meditation
Intention and vision boards
Méditations based on the Moon phases
Magickal self-care
Dream Journalling
The books I've read so far are:
Llewellyn's Sabbat Essentials: Mabon, Yule, Imbolc, and Ostara
Water Magic by Lilith Dorsey
Air Magic by Astrea Taylor
Fire Magic by Josephine Winter
Earth Magic by Dodie Graham Mckay
Moon Magic by Diane Ahlquist
Moon Spells by Diane Ahlquist (NOTE: I'm not quite sure if Diane Ahlquist identifies with witchcraft, so I wouldn't base my entire practice of Moon magick from her books)
Pastel Spells by Orriculum Rose
The Modern Witch's Guide to Magickal Self-Care by Tenae Stewart
The Witch's Book of Self-Care by Anne Murphy-Hiscock
I HIGHLY recommend starting out with the books on self-care for beginner witches, even though there aren't any rules about where you start learning. This is only because it's easy to get burned out or feel overwhelmed by the lack of rules, and we all need reminders to slow down and take care of ourselves nowadays. Tenae Stewart's book tells us to find out for ourselves, while Anne Murphy-Hiscock's book has plenty of ideas and tips for beginners.
The Witch of Wonderlust channel on YouTube has also been incredibly helpful, and I also listened to some episodes of thecomfycozywitch podcast.

hello! how are you? I hope you're well
I would like to know where I could start reading about folk magic, maybe you can give me some advice, thanks!
hello!
truth be told, as a mostly closeted witch, I don't have access to a ton of books about witchcraft. to get started in learning about folk witchcraft, I would definitely recommend chaotic witch aunt on youtube. Frankie is an Italian-American folk practitioner with some incredible insights into folk magic. this video that they made with Olivia from the witch of wonderlust is a great one to start off with, as they both talk about their individual experiences with folk magic. they also have plenty of videos recommending books, which I'd encourage you to check out.
there's no specific resource for this, but I'd also recommend researching the folk magic of your specific heritage and consider if that's something you'd like to incorporate into your practice!

Hey Jasper! How do you feel about the Author Jason Miller? I was recommended his works by Witch of Wanderlust on YouTube but I find his works so…pretentious. His consorting with spirits book is very popular right now in the occult community but wanted to know your thoughts
From the reviews I've seen of his stuff here on Tumblr, I'm not inclined to give him the time of day, much less any of my money.
I don't care one way or another if someone else wants to spend their money on his works, I'm not responsible for other people's finances.

sure give the pitch and some info about your favorite element/character/ye old fun factie you learned while making it
Ok so the fantasy world! Ill start with the magic system since I made it first and wrote everything based on it.
THE PASSIONS
The magic system works on the basis of four powers known as The Four Passions.
The Passion of Abundance, the Passion of Voice, The Passion of Stability and The Passion of Destruction.
Almost every living being has The Passions, they apear as four glowing orbs of different colours (Abundance; Reds & Pinks, Voice; Blues, Destruction; Oranges & Yellows, and Stability: Greens, except for shapeshifters) on which each person has different amounts of control.
The Passions can't get farther than two meters from their person, but they can be taken.
If someone's passion gets destroyed/taken, they will lose the abilities that came with it.
Lack of Abundance will make a person weak and hungry, lack of Stability will make their mind's ability to process or have a solid thought, lack of Destruction takes away their sense of justice, anger, and willingness to figh, and lack of Voice makes people unable to talk.
If a Passion is destroyed, as long as the person has reached the age of thirteen, it will start to grow back in a few hours/days.
But if it is taken, it will not grow back untill it is used up/destroyed.
(In some places, people take away other's Voice and Destruction Passions, and use them as servents, since they can't speak away or figjt back)
People can use The Passions to cast spells.
Destruction best affects fire, Stability best affects gravitation and dirt, Voice best affects air and water, and Abundance best affects living organisms.
The only living beings that don't have Passions are Witches.
THE WITCHES
Withces are people who gave up their Passions to make a bond with an animal that becomes their familliar.
The bond gives the Witches the ability to as one with Passions would, without actually having them, and it gives them the ability to cast magic without using up their own or someone elses Passions.
The Witches arn't well liked in more religous places, but in cities where people sell and buy their Passions, they are appriciated and even praised.

🚽✨ Beginner Witch Tip: Flushing Away Negativity! ✨🚽
Hello, witchlings! Looking for a simple yet powerful way to banish negativity from your life? How about trying a beginner-friendly banishing spell that involves a toilet flush? Here's how:
🌟 What You'll Need:
A piece of paper
A pen
Your intention and focus
Access to a toilet
💧 Let's Dive Into the Magic:
Grab your piece of paper and pen. Write down the name of the person, situation, or energy you want to banish from your life. Be clear and specific about what you're flushing away.
Take a moment to connect with your intention. Visualize the negativity being drawn out of your life and onto the paper.
Head to the bathroom and hold the paper over the toilet bowl. Take a deep breath and focus your energy on the paper.
When you're ready, say aloud or silently, "By the power of water, I release and banish [name or situation]. May it be gone from my life, never to return." Remember, you can create this into whatever fits your needs. Just be careful who or what you attempt to banish (i.e., try not to banish your mom after one falling out or your teacher because you got a bad grade).
With determination, drop the paper into the toilet bowl and flush it away. As you watch it disappear, feel a sense of relief and release wash over you.
Take a moment to thank the universe for assisting you in this banishing process. Trust that the negativity is now gone for good.
Wash your hands as a symbolic gesture of cleansing and purification, both physically and spiritually.
Remember, this spell is all about reclaiming your power and creating a positive, harmonious space for yourself. Use it wisely and with good intentions. Happy banishing, witches! 🌊🔮

Hello! I've seen a bit of wiccan (?) things for a while, if I were to start I wouldn't even know how to start though. (my autistic ass does not leave the house and my mom would probably think it's weird to make strange concoctions of things) I also don't really know how deities work and how do you find out which one your communicating with? Tbh I've always felt like someone is around but whatever god it is seriously fucking hates me /hj Been better since I started medication but like the luck I have is 50/50 good bad and that is probably not normal. If you answer this it'd be very helpful.
Hi! Thanks for the ask!
I just want to start by defining a few terms for you :)
Wicca/Wiccan: A pagan religion that focuses on nature, magic and witchcraft. It was founded in the mid 20th century and Wiccans primarily worship 2 Gods which are personifications of nature.
Witch: Just a person who practices witchcraft. It's a non-gendered term and a non-religious term/practice. Not all witches are Wiccan but all Wiccans are witches. Witches can be absolutely anyone
Personally, I'm not Wiccan so I can't really tell you much about that but if there is one thing I know, it's witchcraft! There are many different places to start but I'm going to condense it down as much as humanly possible. It'll probably feel like a bit of information overload so just try to take it slow and relax. Enjoy the learning.
My favourite book for beginner witchcraft is 'Witchery: Embrace the Witch Within' by Juliet Diaz. She is a fantastic author and wonderful human. Everything about the basics of witchcraft you could need is in that book (imo). You should be able to find a pdf online if you can't get a physical copy.
As for youtube channels with solid content:
Harmony Nice: She covers everything Wicca. She has a playlist with all her Wiccan/witchy content witch is linked here
The Witch of Wonderlust: Olivia has been a favourite witchy youtuber of mine for a while. I wouldn't recommend jumping into her videos without any prior knowledge but once you have a grasp on the bare bones it should be okay. Here is a playlist she made with everything you could possibly need when beginning witchcraft. SOrt through the videos and see what peeks your interest.
The Hearth Witch: Another wonderful account if I remember correctly. Her videos used to be on the longer end (30-60mins) so if you have a short attention span then maybe not but she has a wealth of information.
I also recommend joining a few discord servers, following a few pages on tumblr just to get acquainted with the community and terminology.
Okay, on to the deity work situation. Deity work is generally considered more intermediate in the witchcraft community. key words being 'Deity WORK'. Worship is completely fair game. Setting up an altar, praying, leaving offerings, doing activities in devotion to the deity is absolutely something you can do relatively quickly.
As for IDing a deity, most people do it through 'divination' which is things like tarot, a pendulum, dice, bone throwing, and other ways. Most people also ask for signs that a specific deity is 'reaching out' to them or wants them to pay attention. You can also politely ask someone who is volunteering their time on tumblr or a discord server to find out for you via divination. If they don't say their doing free readings, obviously, don't ask.
Finally. luck is luck. It makes no sense for a literal God to hate a human. We all have periods of shitty luck and awesome luck! I wouldn't blame that on anything. Sometimes bad things just happen unfortunately. But sometimes amazing things also happen, even if it's just as small is finding 5 cents on the footpath.
That was so long. Congrats if you made it to the end because I nearly didn't when writing this. I hope this helped a bit. Feel free to reach out if you need a hand with anything. Thanks :)

Notes from My Grimoire: Magpie Oracle
I've been working on constructing a magpie oracle for a while, and I'm finally at a point where I'd like to share a bit about the process, the items I've chosen, and how I plan to read my castings. Once I've got the hang of it for myself, I may start offering freebies to practice, then maybe add it as a new divination offering to my commissions page if it goes well. Who knows!
What is a Magpie Oracle?
A magpie oracle is a form of divination known as "claromancy," in which a collection of seemingly random items are thrown, not unlike runes, to perform a divination. Some practitioners call it "bone throwing," (or osteomancy) coming from the practice of casting actual bones. I prefer to call it magpie oracle just because magpies are amongst my favorite birds, it's one of my family nicknames, and there's no better name for a collection of pretty, shiny things.
Olivia, the Witch of Wonderlust, has a great video introduction to bone throwing. If you're interested in learning more about it or creating your own set, I highly recommend checking out her video.
This post is currently exclusive for my supporters on Ko-Fi! Supporters get early, extended, and extra content every week for as low as a one-time tip of $1.
Tbh making this was a lot of fun and I can't wait to get comfortable enough to offer readings with my new oracle...........

Money Bowl & Money / Abundance Mix
Tumblr media
↑ Picture of my first money bowl.
Money bowls are a staple in many different practices, the idea being that you cram a bunch of stuff into a bowl to draw money, prosperity, and abundance to you.
Disclaimer: This information is compiled from my own correspondences and what works for me.
Other Resources on Money Bowls:

My Money Bowl Contents: (Do not repost)
NOTE: Not all of the contents of the bowl are listed here. These are what I’m comfortable sharing.
The bowl itself is a repurposed WalMart candle glass. I’m not terribly happy with it, and will likely change it up in the future if I find a more suitable / appropriate container. Or I’ll draw or paint or otherwise modify it’s appearance, I dunno.
It holds, in no particular order:
Old money poppet I made years ago from old pj pants. Used to keep him in my purse, but I felt he’d serve me better here.
Green felt & twine spell pouch w/ money mixture in it
3 pieces of green sea glass
An old money protection tealight
Sand dollar
$1 in quarters
3 tiiiiiny pieces of citrine
3 whole allspice
9 whole cloves
2 green spiral seashells
1 white spiral seashell with brown dots
3 roasted & salted sunflower seeds
4 pumpkin seeds
1 acorn
3 cowrie shells
2 cinnamon sticks
1 bayleaf
Typically, I also have petitions, spell bags, and $1-$20 bills in it as well.
Money / Abundance Mixture: (Do not repost)
Originally, this served as the base of the money bowl, which I would set the above mentioned items upon. I disliked that the above items became covered in glitter and ginger powder, so I separated the mixture and put it in a jar. I use it in workings to bring abundance and money.
Listed alphabetically:
Basil
Beans
Catnip
Eucalyptus
Gold Glitter
Ground Cinnamon
Ground Cloves
Ground Ginger
Ground Nutmeg
Quick Oats (Oatmeal)
Pumpkin Pie Spice
Roasted & Salted Sunflower Seeds
Rosemary
Sea Salt
Silver Glitter
Thyme
White Rice
You can add / leave out what you wish. I don’t have exact measurements, sorry! This mixture is not edible and should not be made into anything that will be consumed or ingested.
Do not repost any of my spells, curses, etc. Reblogs are OK.

I was very very bad, and instead of waiting, I have started my 'Halloween' cardigan, lol. Heres links to my inspiration, and I'll post pics of my progress either late tomorrow, or this weekend, cause I might have already finished the granny squares, lol.
The skull granny squares.
The cardigan pattern I'm following.
The witch of wonderlust's 'offering' cardigan where I first saw the granny squares I'm using.
A hexagon cardigan with granny squares, which i saw and it inspiered me to combine the ideas. (I think the one I saw originally had open sleeves which is how I’m leaving mine. welp. when looking for the video I first saw I found this one which… wow, same idea, lol. Mine is not gonna have any trim tho, I want it to be very flow-y and cozy and not restrictive at all.)

Sources
Hello, I’ve been compiling my sources for you to look at and use and read and cross reference. It will take a while to get every single one on here, and I will update it with a group of books at a time. But, these are the sources I use the most and reference back to all the time and are a staple to understanding my craft specifically. I will link physical books, scholarly articles (free of course), ebooks, blogs, videos, and research websites I use. This will be linked on all of my posts as a citation page basically. I’ve included links along with ratings and small things I think are important about the source, and if I would recommend it for beginners. Enjoy, and hopefully you will find something that you connect with or help you with learning or freshening up on topics. Thank you!
