Little Women (2019) – Greta Gerwig

{10} Movie Seen in 2020 - 5 Stars

It's Little Women, a classic, a book that I know very well, that I don't necessarily adore. But it's something that has been adapted a lot of times, and I have seen a lot of adaptations, some good, some bad. I had faith that Greta Gerwig would deliver something good, but I wasn't expecting to be so entranced and in love like I was seeing something for the very first time.

Her decision to not follow the books, timeline, to make a faithful adaptation but in her own way, was brave and clearly one that could only be made by someone very familiar with the book, someone brave. Every moment says something, every moment is necessary, we go to the past and the present, we know the end before we know the journey, and it all fits perfectly.

The cast is absolute perfection. I have never loved all the characters but Greta and the actors make us care and love every single one of them.

Review: THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME #1376

Cast: Tom Holland, Bill Skarsgard, Riley Keough, Jason Clarke, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Bennett, Harry Melling, Eliza Scalen, Mia Wasikowska and Robert Pattinson

Movie Quote:

Deputy Lee Bodecker: Some people were born just so they could be buried.

Narrator: [narrating] Bodecker believed that people were like dogs; once they start digging, they don't wanna stop.

Narrator: Only in the presence of death could he feel the presence of something like God.

Trivia:

Robert Pattinson didn't work with a dialect coach and crafted his high-pitched Southern drawl on his own. The actor hid his accent from everyone - including director Antonio Campos - until day one of filming. Other actors sent Campos recordings of the voices they were working on - but not Pattinson, preferring to rehearse by himself and getting self-conscious by being judged before actually standing in front of the camera. Campos called Pattinson a "mad genius who can do anything.”

Actor Harry Melling dumped real orb-weaver spiders on his head. He said that he was okay with it as long as the spiders weren't changed to snakes.

Chris Evans was originally cast as Deputy Lee Bodecker, but had to drop out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. His Marvel co-star Sebastian Stan took over the role.

Review:

They all thought that they were talking to and getting direction from God, but it was the devil all the time…

This is a good thriller, it was dark, gruesome and the acting was amazing.

I think every single one of the cast showed a very different side from what they’re known.

The script is great, also the directing is something really worth acknowledging.

I thinks when you read the preparations a few of them did you really get a sense of how good this movie is.

I do have to say, CAN WE STOP KILLING WOMEN SO THAT MALE CHARACTERS CAN HAVE DEVELOPMENT?
