what do you mean when you say that zuko is a pessimistic idealist and sokka is a pessimistic realist? i love your analyses and i’d love to hear more of your thoughts on that!!! (also love how you say sokka and zuko are perfect for each other because they’re both grumps lol)

i do not remember saying that however it does sound like something i would say lmao. i think what i (would) mean with the statement “zuko is a pessimistic idealist” is that he grew up... idk if unappreciated is the exact word, but in the militaristic hypermasculine society that valued traits that he did not have in comparison to azula, zuko was always at a disadvantage and he had to run for it, sometimes make rash decisions as they were the better/only decisions he could make at all in order to be appreciated and most times it did not pay off which resulted in the entire mess that is zuko’s personality. for all of this, zuko has a tendency to see the worst part of the situation he’s in (coming to mind atm ‘it blew up in my face — like everything always does!’ ‘this city is a prison’ more or less?), so in other words he’s grumpy and kinda sour as hell, all the time.

but at the same time, zuko has a certain... idea of the world, a kind and caring heart, a strong sense of justice, an overall vision for a world that’s good. when zuko comes to understand the fire nation is actually actively pushing back this vision, and he practically immediately turns away from its ideals and pursues a philosophy and a group that actually fit his ideas of what’s better for the world. zuko spent three years at sea looking for a myth, in hopes that finding it would finally put an end to his suffering, making him and katara the only people in the world who truly believed the avatar was still out there. zuko is always expecting everything to blow up in his face like it often did throughout his childhood, and he sees the worst part of the situation before anything else but he always pushes back to make it better, or to what he believes would be making it better.

my favorite example of this is during the blue spirit after zuko finds out zhao got the avatar before him, and he gives iroh a speech about how all hope is lost for him and he will never ever have love honor or happiness ever again, and about five hours later he’s behind a theatre mask with two swords against the world rescuing the avatar just so he can capture this avatar himself in the future, while also letting him go afterwards because it’s not honorable to take him in the easy manner he could take him at that precise moment(???) and that was just nuts. therefore pessimistic idealist.

on the other hand there’s sokka.

sokka is a pessimist through and through, a serial complainer, a paranoid neurotic strategist. sokka grew up in disadvantage to the rest of the world and overshadowed by a his little sister — not because katara was a bender and sokka was not, but because katara was the last bender they had left. i’ve talked about this before but basically it’s no wonder katara is a solid optimistic idealist with all the hope and faith and determination in the world while sokka is a pessimistic realist and pragmatic depressed cynical bastard. presumably his village but also sokka put himself at disadvantage. it is safe to assume sokka sacrificed his own uhh. hope? naivetè? innocence? for katara to keep hers and in order to protect her better — after all katara is the last southern waterbender, their collective hero, and you can’t have a hero with no hope, you can’t have a dead hero. and also sokka is an eldest sibling, it’s instinctual.

now don’t get me wrong, sokka has a huge heart full of love and devotion and wonder. he is an inventor, an artist, a scientist. sokka is filled with ideas, but he is always waiting for the lowest blow, he is always waiting for a disaster to happen (and with a good reason!). sokka believes optimists are liars, he thinks destiny and fate is more or less bullshit, he has a pragmatic and careful approach to almost every situation he’s presented with and even though he has a clear sense of morality, he is willing to make certain sacrifices as are the demands of war – where zuko is willing to save zhao without hesitation, who tried to kill him multiple times and whom he had been fighting not one minute ago, for example.

sokka wants the world to be a better place, and at the same time he has little trouble turning away from people who aren’t in any immediate danger even if they are suffering because he has more pressing matters at hand (the painted lady), he obviously would want the avatar to come back and save them, but aang being a complete stranger signaling to a fire nation ship is most definitely a valid justification for sokka to banish him (the boy in the iceberg/the avatar returns i don't remember lol). among many many many other situations in which sokka is technically right, even if it doesn’t fit other characters’ idealistic views or it doesn’t make for a good story, sokka is the realist they all need in order to survive.

also i admit ‘perfect for each other’ can be kind of a stretch and i believe that it being because they’re both grumpy is kinda reductive since that can also be the basis of mai and zuko’s relationship and we all know what i think of those two aksjaks (this is NOT mai slander. # mai deserves better 2k21). however i do think sokka and zuko fit together because they have different types of emotional constipation and they actively push each other to be more balanced in order to reach to the other. sokka wants to believe deep down, and the fact that he is in a story even if he doesn’t really believe it plays its cards sometimes which translates into the universe’s obsession with sokka, and zuko is destiny fan #1 so he can give sokka an overemotional speech once in a while that sokka will ruthlessly dismiss and dismantle verbally but that at the same time will warm his heart and help him loosen up on his scheduled cerebral to a default existence on the long-run; zuko needs grounding once in a while which he usually got from iroh or at the very least iroh made an attempt to get through him, and sokka is intellectually crude enough to give zuko a reality check while making himself understood and because of their shared wavelength he can do this without crushing all of zuko’s hopes and dreams in the process.

they are also two eldest siblings one with depression the other filled with rage and they are the only real ‘pessimists’ in the gaang, so while yes, zuko will take action to solve problems he will also complain about it forever more and he can do that with sokka. together they can yell at god, complain about jocks, complain about prescriptivists, bond over their very niche taste in art that nobody ever understands, and absolutely tear apart everything that doesn’t fit their competence standard (it’s a very high fucking standard, those are two grumpy neurodivergent people) among many other grump-activities that seem to make them miserable but that actually serve both of them to validate their annoyed kind of love for the world and it makes both of them really happy :)

HEART OF A CHAMPION

Some players may not have championships but their heart is nothing less of a champion! Many people feel this way about Allen Iverson but right now I’m focusing on Damian Lillard! Dame been putting on a clinic recently but I wanted to discuss how I knew Dame was that guy!

I. CALLING THAT DAME WINNER

I remember back in the bluff we were watching the 2014 NBA Playoffs. Portland was playing the Rockets and we were chilling stuffing our faces probably. So we were all standing on the tv, I told my mans Dame bout to crush Houston watch this. His eyes stayed glued to the television. We saw Dame pull up in what felt like slow motion and he sunk that game winner. I was like see man I called it, I knew it that boy wanted.

II. DAME BE BALLING

Even though, I called that game winner, Dame really wasn’t showing that dog yet. It were these past couple years that showed Dame as a dominating beast. Dame started to become “Logo Dame”. He would pull up from anywhere on the court and drain it. Boy was looking like he was trying to bring NBA JAM back! I mean he just was destroying the competition left and right. Dame’s champion heart came into full swing in my opinion when he hit that crazy shot. or Paul George.

A. GOOD DEFENSE OR BETTER OFFENSE?!

In 2019, Portland was facing off against the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Thunder had the ferocious guard, Russell Westbrook and a former potential MVP in Paul George. Paul George, known for his perennial defense, was the man chosen to lock down the superstar. However no matter how much defensive prowess was on display by Paul George, Dame rose above and sank a shot all the way from Istanbul! The shot was so deadly it took years for Paul George to admit the shot was clutch, he at first said the shot was a “bad shot”. Survey says that was cap! III. A TRUE SUPERSTAR

Dame has been a loyal guard for Portland, in this time of superteams, Dame says give me some soldiers and leave the rest to me! For me that is so respectable! Dame cache has increased a lot in the recent years! His shoes are hotter, he has a prominent role in the upcoming SPACE JAM: A NEW LEGACY, and he’s the latest cover athlete for the best basketball simulation on the planet, NBA 2K21!

If anyone deserves a championship its young Dame! Oh and he’s the hardest basketball-rapper of all time! It may be Shaq but Dame legit is lyrical, even though Shaq did have platinum albums and a song with BIG! But Dame can really spit man lol!

Dame continues to put in the work and one day he will be rewarded with a ring somehow! Maybe when King James decide to retire because I can’t allow him to beat the King lol. But much love to Dame man he really has the heart of a champion!

not me drawing and interpreting proper astrological birth charts for the jjk main trio now that the official fan book finally gave us their birthplace in addition to their birthday 👀

Explanation under the cut! (edited to be more beginner friendly)

Quick disclaimer ig: this is just my personal interpretation of these placements. If you read the way I describe something and you think to yourself “hang on, I have this placement and this doesn’t sound like me at all” that would be because a) I am an amateur astrologer and I do this for fun, I don’t know everything about every sign/planet, and b) no placement exists in isolation - it’s influenced by the house it’s in as well as any other planets aspecting it - so it’s possible that the placement manifests in a less conventional/standard way due you because of such factors.

EDIT: my first draft of this post was not super beginner friendly so here’s a quick astrology 101 to help people understand wtf I’m talking about. Skip to the next photo if you don’t need a primer.

Everyone has ten main planets in their birth chart, each of those planets will fall under a different sign depending on when and where you were born. The planet governs an area of your personality, the sign shows what that area of your personality is like. Some quick definitions of the relevant planets for this post:

Sun: the one everyone thinks of when asked ‘what’s your star sign’. Your basic personality, your core, your ego.

Moon: symbolises emotion, intuition, your private internal world, and how feelings are expressed.

Mercury: symbolises communication, intellectual reasoning, and how you learn.

Venus: symbolises romance, aesthetics, how you socialize, and pleasure-seeking behaviours like shopping or sightseeing.

Mars: the source of your passion/drive/motivation. Symbolises where and how you expend your energy.

Retrograde: not a planet, just something the planets do sometimes. At some points in the year the planets look like they’re moving ‘backwards’ through the sky, and this alters their influence on the birth chart.

I think that’s probably enough but shoot me an ask if you’re curious/confused! I’m always happy to talk astrology (clearly lol)

Megumi... I always suspected he had scorpio influence somewhere in his chart and turns out I was right!! Not only scorpio venus but scorpio mars too?? I’m obsessed with this. Scorpio is a water sign (read: big on emotions), the embodiment of the phrase ‘still waters run deep’, and though scorpio placements are not always loud about their affection they tend to bond in a pretty intense way with their chosen people. Those venus and mars placements together really do speak of ride or die devotion - no wonder he’s Like That when it comes to Yuuji people he cares about.

His jupiter and saturn are both in retrograde; I would not have predicted it because I don’t think about natal retrograde all that much, but it actually makes a lot of sense imo. Retrograde jupiter usually indicates someone who is internally very philosophical in the sense that the person will define their own firm moral/ethical code instead of following a familial or societal belief system, which is pretty much megumi ‘I save people according to my own conscience’ fushiguro in a nutshell. While retrograde saturn is basically like. On the outside you’re stoic but on the inside you’re a worrywart, and you take responsibility Super Seriously but you also don’t like people with authority pushing you around needlessly. Which is also megumi in a nutshell lol.

His leo moon was a surprise but I honestly think it works for him because this is definitely where Unhinged Feral Megumi comes from: when he decides to go all out he gets such a flair for the dramatic. capricorn sun and capricorn mercury are pretty intuitive tbh, he really gives off capricorn vibes - practical, reserved, loyal, ambitious and tenacious, possessing a dry wit, capable of putting in steady hard work to get to where he wants to be.

I was already aware of Nobara’s leo sun because we’ve had their birth dates for a while now (birthplace is the new info which lets me draw the whole chart). But her cancer moon is such a lovely placement under that hard outer shell of hers. Nobara seems like she does not have a nurturing bone in her body, but it’s wrong to stereotype cancers as exclusively homebody motherly types - they have deep loyalty for their chosen family/home and they’ll go to the ends of the earth for those people in their own way whatever that may be... she really is a softie deep down 🥰 she really does care 🥰 thinkin about the end of her ch 125 flashback in this context

Nobara’s virgo mercury is actually kind of funny to me because while it indicates a natural gift for intellect and a talent for sorting out the fine details, it also has the potential to make someone a harsh critic who can nitpick and be quite blunt in stating their opinions... this is very Nobara, she does Not spare the feelings of anyone she is talking to lol.

Libra venus!! She has libra venus that’s so perfect!!! this placement is sophisticated and charming and always classy, these people adore that classic chocolates-and-roses romance but they turn love of all kinds into an art form. Traditionally the placement is also associated with people who care about beauty and harmony, who will go out of their way to look good for their companions. Also her leo mars... I love that. It’s really amplifying her bold outspoken flashy self-loving take-charge nature. Queen energy right here.

She has a bunch of natal retrogrades but the one I want to talk about is retrograde uranus... this one is Very fitting and again almost funny in the context of her character. You know how she’s always convinced she’s the only sane person in the room when actually she’s the unhinged one 24/7 and not self aware about that in the slightest? Yeah. That’s big retrograde uranus vibes.

Oh Yuuji... I could talk about your pisces sun all day 🥺 I could get Very technical and meta about the pisces association with the twelfth house and the fact that it’s ruled by neptune and what that says about his character, but I don’t have the room or the time so I’ll save that for another post. For now I’ll just say that the fact that he cares so deeply for others regardless of how well he knows them, the way he feels his feelings so intensely and is very intuituve/sensitive to others needs, him being interested in the occult before he ever found Sukuna’s fist finger, it all just seems more pisces to me than any other sign. And him having pisces mercury + pisces uranus in addition to his sun is also very sweet... our boy really thinks with his heart at all hours of the day doesn’t he?

His libra moon is such a fitting placement, too, because this moon is all about relationships - not just romance but bonds of all kinds, friends and family and companions of any sort. Yuuji as a character is so motivated by the bonds he shares with others and his desire to not be alone, especially on his deathbed. Libra moons are charming and personable and find it very easy to connect with others, they are deeply concerned with justice and will be accepting of everyone except for people who are cruel (exhibit a: just look how he responded to mahito). I think it’s a very apt moon for him to have.

Tbh if I were picking and choosing I might have loaded him up with yet more pisces energy and given him my favourite placement in the whole world, venus in pisces. But he actually has an aquarius venus and I think that’s so interesting! The part of this placement that speaks to his character for me is the way that aquarius venus love is defined by radical acceptance - there is never any judgement (I won’t judge you, Junpei!), because this venus seeks not only to see and understand but to be seen and understood in turn. Some say aquarius venus is an emotionally detached placement. I think that’s a mischaracterisation, but it is true that aquarius placements can be low key scared of intimacy and vulnerability even when they crave it lmao. An aquarius venus will sort through turmoil in their heart by retreating to think it over in isolation, rather than by submitting to the mortifying ordeal of being known and reaching out. All I can say about his capricorn mars is that it definitely embodies that determined protagonist vibe. Thoughts like ‘I want to get stronger, I want to be the best, I’ll put in the work to come out on top’ are very capricorn thoughts to have, and the drive and forward momentum associated with mars really push them to the front of his character. But also, again; an underdeveloped capricorn mars under stress will shut out possibilities for connection with loved ones by dedicating themselves to their job or cause. Yuuji learn healthy coping mechanisms challenge 2k21.

I saw the BTS pictures released today marked 4x13 and I honestly didn’t expect Leyla back so quickly but that’s awesome. I know it’ll probably be short and she’ll disappear again for a while but proof of life is always good lol. I just want her and Lauren to have another conversation because their last one was so unfinished and heartbreaking. I’m also hoping this is the episode we get Leyla and Floyd interacting because I love them together. I don’t think he’ll bring up Lauren but I really hope general surgery is where Leyla eventually lands because ever since they worked together on the burn case, it’s all I’ve wanted. The ED is great but it’s Lauren’s domain and seeing Leyla carve out a new space for herself would be perfect.

i agree, i think leyla's only interactions in 4x13 are going to be with floyd, probably about the rec letter. but the writers can pry the leyla working in general surgery dream out of my cold, dead, hands. i need floyd to turn on the salesman charm and convince leyla that even if she feels like she didn't earn her spot in the ED program, she has with general surgery. but lauren in iggy's office outside her working hours has my hopes up that maybe she's going to him for therapy (though i'd prefer she go to an outside party but we all know iggy is the only therapist that exist in the show). let lauren bloom talk about her feelings 2k21.

idk about everyone else but i gotta love how at every opportunity regarding Endeavor, Natsuo chooses violence. not in a literal sense, ofc. i always felt a grim sense of satisfaction whenever Natsuo refuses to forgive his father because its HIS trauma and if he doesnt want to forgive his father then good for him. then again i could just be being petty; the whole forgiving Endeavor bec he suddenly did a 180 never left a good taste in my mouth anyways lol

Dabi would be so proud if he knew...

I love Natsuo so much, he's such a great character and it's really nice seeing him openly turn his father down all the time and calling him out for all his wrongdoings. Out of all the family members, he's the one that has had the least amount of contact with his father. Even Fuyumi, who was also neglected by him, was more in touch with him since she basically replaced the nanny and took over the mother role (not that that's a good thing).

Some people have pointed out that maybe Natsuo is trying to forgive Endeavor, though much like the rest of the family, it just seems kinda forced and I hope that the Touya reveal finalizes his feelings on Endeavor. Because all this time Natsuo's feelings towards Endeavor were "you're the reason he's dead" and now it's "you're the reason he is like that" so I hope he's gonna continue being on Touya's side rather than siding with Endeavor. It would just feel really weird and out-of-character otherwise.

Graduation Flashbacks 2k21

Tony reminisces on graduations past while sitting in the ceremony.

Tony was in his stupid hat and gown again. It was the same one he’d had for years, only updating it when the school decided to change the style of cap and gown they’d want their students to wear. He glanced to the side, daring a look at his ex-boyfriend Haechan Roberts that he was assigned to sit beside. They had both been ignoring the other since being told that they would be sitting in alphabetical order. Tony had known it was coming, had known the moment he found out the other’s surname. This wasn’t his first rodeo, he’d done this sixty times before. Though Haechan reminded him of a few other R-named exes he’d been with many years ago.

“Promise you’ll write to me,” Tally had insisted when they’d discussed the breakup. Tony blinked at her, his heart aching as he realized what he’d have to do. He didn’t want to lie to her but what was one to do when the great and powerful Tallulah Robinson asked something of you?

“I promise, Tally. You go off and get your degree, see the world, send me postcards. I’ll be here, in Swynlake. It’s not like you’ll never see me again, your family’s here after all.” He chuckled through the pain, eyes beginning to water.

Sitting in the ceremony didn’t feel cold, instead they held hands side by side. Squeezing whenever something particularly emotional started to be said. ‘Goodbyes are hard,’ Tony thought as he stared not at the presenters but at her face. ‘She’ll be alright, though. She’s a force.’

“Congratulations, Class of 2010,” came the headmaster’s voice booming over the speakers. “You did it!”

As a roar rang out over the crowd Tony felt that same tingling, saw those same sparkles only he ever seemed to notice as the ceremony came to a conclusion. Despite his desire to hang on, to cling to Tallulah’s hand for dear life, he felt her grip slacken until she had completely dropped Tony. She had no reason to hold the hand of the boy beside her, she didn’t know him despite how small the school was.

She had places to be and a small town to forget.

The speakers were giving some emotional speech and Tony swiped at his eyes in frustration. Most people, if they saw him, might think he was just getting emotional about leaving Swynlake. The rumors had swirled around him about whether he was staying in the small town or leaving them for MIT. It was stupid, he regretted even posting the fake acceptance nowadays, but he supposed it wouldn’t matter shortly. He’d have to just fake a Pride U acceptance instead, as he usually did.

He looked around the expanse of graduates, spotting Phineas Flynn across the room. One of the few people whose relationships had transformed the most. Tony had barely considered the kid back when he had moved to their peculiar little town which had transformed drastically to incensed rage and been doused much like the flames he’d been spared from with, of all things, the power of music. Tony nearly rolled his eyes at the memory now if he ignored the very real damage that had been done to his person at the time.

The evolution of their friendship caused him to reminisce upon another relationship of his that had changed drastically since their first meeting: Gregory Eeyore.

He thought about Greg whom he had been texting constantly the past few days. They were best friends now, Greg had even believed Ian and Tony about the curse, even if the recollection of memories hadn’t been made possible unlike Ian. Honestly, the teenager wasn’t sure whether or not that was such a bad thing given their rocky past.

Tony scanned the sea of people who were all about to leave him behind. He spotted the likes of Devyn Morey—’Good for them, making it this far!’—before his eyes landed upon one Gregory Eeyore. It wasn’t as though Tony had been friends with Gregory by any stretch of the imagination. On the contrary, Tony was convinced that Greg hated him by association with his friends who had done little more than torment the quieter student.

Over the last few years Tony had dissuaded his friends from torturing their classmate, though the attempts were quieter than Tony knew he should have been and filled with the fear of being socially ejected. It seemed silly, sometimes, thinking about his fear of being rejected from a social group given he had a built-in redo in a way but recovering from that and climbing back up the social ladder even with the help of his curse’s bonus popularity air still took time and effort that he didn’t always want to do.

So Greg had suffered for it.

As Tony watched the other he made a silent wish—something that he should have stopped doing long ago after having his wish granted to never leave secondary—that Greg would find his niche out in the world now that secondary would be left behind him. Tony wanted nothing more than for Greg to find the peace he deserved.

“Congratulations, Class of 2017,” came the headmaster’s voice booming over the speakers. “You did it!”

As the announcement was made and caps were thrown into the air in celebration Tony felt that familiar tingle and sparkle surround him. He hoped that perhaps a part of that magical seal would grant this new wish.

Focusing on what friendships would prevail, Tony had to focus on the positives.

He would still have Pip, feisty and loyal Pip, to keep his feet on the ground and yet also keep him on his toes. There was never a dull moment in their friendship and he couldn’t wait for long nights with him listening to musicals or any of the other interests that the younger boy held to his chest.

Tony could hold onto the friendship he’d newly cultivated with Mim Ambrosius who was a brushfire. Chaotic and terrifying in the danger she could create while also being capable of cultivating a sort of refreshment on life much like the sorts of plants that had to burn to spread their seeds and flourish elsewhere.

He scanned the crowd to see if he could spot any particular faces turned toward himself. He caught a glimpse of someone’s profile for a moment and mistook them for the one and only Jessica Rabbit.

“We’re still friends,” Jessica whispered as she sat beside him.

“What?” He tore his eyes from the headmaster manning the ceremony to look her way. They had determined this when Jess had broken up with him a couple weeks prior, Tony had almost been relieved he wouldn’t have to break her heart. Jessica was of a rare breed; kind to a fault and sharp as a tack. Tony hadn’t wanted to live on in her heart as any form of regret.

“We’re still friends, Tony.”

“‘Course we are, Bun,” he teased, the old nickname slipping into the sentence without his permission. “‘Til the very end.” It wasn’t a lie at least, not really. He didn’t want to lie to her, not ever.

“If you’re not leaving Swynlake then—”

“Don’t worry about it, Jess,” Tony cut her off, not wanting to know where that sentence was going. “It doesn’t matter. We’ll figure it out.” Just because she was figuring it out without him didn’t mean that he wasn’t going to assuage her fears. He reached over to give her hand a short squeeze before returning it to his own lap.

They had been each other’s support system over this short time together. The long nights at work and the longer nights in his flat reading comic books while a record spun in the background. The hushed and reverent voices mingling in the dark as the two tired teens just allowed themselves to unwind from the pressures that threatened to break down their doors.

“Love you, Bun,” he admitted, glancing at her face for a fraction of a second. He tried not to seek what emotion was shining there before turning his attention back to the headmaster.

“Congratulations, Class of 2003,” came the headmaster’s voice booming over the speakers. “You did it!”

He’d see her again, just under different circumstances.

Ah, there were the tears once again and Tony chuckled at his sappy self. Haechan turned their face to raise a brow at him but he ignored their questioning expression. It would be alright, Tony told himself. He wasn’t alone, he was determined to believe it. He thought about Ian at home, the journals placed out upon the table ready to inform him of Tony’s existence once again. If it had worked once it had to work again... right?

When his row’s time came, Tony stood from his seat, walking across the stage as he always did. He knew every step, knew every creak in the stage floor that the attendant eyes of the crowd wouldn’t hear but still brought a bit of cringe to him so he avoided it easily. It wasn’t long, then, for when his name would be called. He walked across the stage, hearing a couple cheers for him despite the announcer saying not to cheer until the very end. No one ever listened to that announcement when their kid got called.

After being handed another diploma Tony thanked the headmaster as he always did and retreated back to his seat. This diploma was one of many and he just sighed as he realized it would go into that box beneath his bed like all of the others where it would collect dust unless—until—Tony and Ian broke the curse.

“Congratulations, Class of 2021,” came the headmaster’s voice booming over the speakers. This time breaking him of his reverie. “You did it!”

‘Maybe this time,’ Tony thought with a hint of optimism in his heart. ‘I don’t think that I’ve broken the curse, not by a long shot, but maybe... just maybe... I’ve actually managed to accomplish something. A family. A life.’

as a big mirsan fan whose understanding is that mirsan is not as popular as other ships cause miroku should be in horny jail (i agree) and sango is a Queen, it’s weird to see that so many ppl. think kohaku/rin is pure and acceptable even though they met when rin was 7 and kohaku was 11

their age diff. is actually greater by a year compared to koharu and miroku.

i think that because RT drew miroku looking the same at 15 and at 18 and because koharu looked visibly young in the flashback, people forget that miroku was also a younger kid when those events transpired

obviously, that doesn’t make it right, and i still think that a 3 yr gap at those ages is too big of a difference mentally, so i agree that the miroku and koharu situation was gross, but some people criticize his character like he was a grown ass man yet find kohaku and rin an acceptable match (personally, i see them as close friends/siblings)

anyway, i completely understand why people might not like his character! not every fan read/watched the series at a point in time where dumb misogynistic tropes were more common and more easily brushed off, and for anime-only fans, sunrise made every shitty thing worse for “laughs”

personally, i can’t stand the groping, but i think it’s funny that he is such a tart. let miroku be a slut 2k21 (pre-committing to sango ofc, we don’t like cheaters on this blog)

tldr; miroku’s a tart but he gets a lot of flak, and there’s more to his character than being a sleaze

btw, no hate to anyone! i was just making an observation as someone who was cursed to be a fan of miroku lol

that i can think of, there’s only one pairing that i am absolutely against, so please don’t feel bad if you read this. it’s not an attack.

so i saw a tiktok abt how some ppl get low views on their videos and the creator proposed an interesting perspective that i think could also apply to notes on this platform, especially with content creators here

basically the premise of the video was “yeah 30 videos doesn’t sound like a lot. but if 30 people walked into my room to see me do this one thing, that’d be pretty cool.”

and now think of it this way. you’re at a book release for your a fic you’ve worked on for weeks, or maybe a random blurb you pulled out within a few minutes. there’s only like 30 people who how up to the book release. doesn’t seem like much, but that’s a room full of people.

same thing for an art show. you put your art piece up and a group of like 30 people come to look at it.

just something i thought of and try to remind myself when i feel down about the lack of interactions i get with my fics :)

okay, first of all, sokka is probably one of the few characters who can handle and match your theatre kid energy, and that’s very iconic of him

also, sokka is in constant awe of your drawing abilities and you two will draw together sometimes because you are one of the few people who won’t be critical of his efforts because you are thoughtful like that

and i think what’s super great about your relationship is how the two of you are constantly there to support the other in ways that are exactly what the other needs.

you are super in tune with sokka’s insecurities and he knows how self-critical you can be, (and honestly relates) so he is always there to hype you up.

plus! the two of you would be so goofy with you - he would 100% break out into song or practice lines with you dramatically.

you both probably have some of those super optimistic or romanticised ideas of what being in a relationship is - ideas like the other person being your “better half” or that you’re “soulmates” - and i think it’s good that neither of you are paired with someone who’s super cynical, because that would just crush your spirit, y’know?

besides, what you may lack in practicality, sokka will make up for since he’s so detail and “plan” oriented.

i honestly think the two of you would be able to balance out the other really well.

and let’s be real here,,, sokka is constantly looking for his dad in every crowd, so in a modern! au he will 100% get emotionally attached to video game and movie characters, too. it’s all in that quest for a father figure™ (and probably a mother figure, too).

also, in a modern! au, sokka kills it at video games, the two of you will definitely play together and he’d get very competitive.

Harry Potter:

I ship you with George Weasley!

now george is always seen as the more subdued of the twins, but i think that’s more in line with what you need. someone who appreciates your high energy but is also willing to take some downtime, seeing as you are an introvert.

george has a lot of energy, too, and i imagine he would love to sing with you in the dormitories, dancing wildly. and when the two of you crash, you just flop onto the bed and talk.

george is probably big on hand holding and tracing the lines on the palm of your hand. he just likes to feel you close, and get to know the tiny details of who you are.

and that’s something great about george! if you are slow to opening up, he won’t ever push you, just take whatever you give him and praise it to no end.

and george is honestly so positive? 10/10 a good boi.

i also headcanon that george has a lot of his fathers interest in muggle things, so when you introduce him to video games, he immediately falls in love with them and will beg you to teach him your ways. and he’s probably comically bad at it in the beginning, but he’s so quick to pick things up.

he definitely boasts about being good at video games too, talking about how amazing you are to have taught him and just know about it in the first place.

and you most definitely help the twins with their pranks! you probably cover for them a lot, making up really random and out there stories as to where they are, and george is really good at expanding upon your stories? together the two of you can make random but airtight alibis.

i also think that you would get along with ron a lot, which is good because george adores his siblings and definitely wants their approval.

also, if you are ever conflict-averse or just don’t want to get into a fight, george is always there to fight it for you - his loyalty is so strong and he would never leave you high and dry to fight your battles alone.

george would just love you so much, it’s what you deserve.

Narnia:

I ship you with Peter Pevensie!

i imagine you were friends with lucy, first, and the two of you hung out often enough that peter really started to enjoy your presence. something that you know edmund and susan teased him about, constantly pushing the two of you together to do simple things like make dinner or get the groceries.

and when peter is with you, he is the definition of the heart eyes emoji, listening to you ramble about your interests like 😍😍😍

i also headcanon that lucy has adhd, so peter would understand you really well and would never get frustrated. this man lives for others, and he would treat you right.

and the songs that you sing? he 100% listens to them and one day lucy catches him and she thinks it’s silly but very romantic of him.

and you know that peter is trash at video games - he has a lot of siblings, and edmund and lucy are constantly playing, so his skills are rough. he would love to watch you play, though.

also, peter is a wonderful cook and baker, so he will make the snacks while you play or maybe the two of you will cook together. it’s very endearing.

also! i have always stated that peter is a hufflepuff (with some gryffindor tendencies, true) so in a hogwarts! au the two of you would be that hufflepuff couple that everyone loves.

peter is so family oriented, so he’s not at all fazed by the fact that you’re more emotionally driven and a little more difficult to get to know - peter is so supportive and patient and he’s so comfortable to be around. he’d never push you past your comfort zone, and if that isn’t boyfriend goals, idk what is.

and since peter was literally a king, you know he has an appreciation for the arts. he will love it if you ever do any acting or if you join a choir - he’ll always be in the front row, cheering you on.

first: YEAH LET HIM CROSSDRESS. He’s been asking it multiple times now he REALLY wants to do it com’on guys :( Tsuzuru love please!! please!!! let him do it!!

Second: how many time it’s been those past few months that i ended up getting your interest over whatever thing i’m being focused on at that moment omg DLKJFDLKFJLFD but welcome to the party and welcome in loving Prompto and Noctis! :’D

This scenne was genuinely sooo good though it still makes me wanna cry. The trust! the friendship! the way they rely on one another! they’re so sweet 😭

ff15 is about Prince Noctis, on his way to his wedding accompanied by this three best friends, Gladiolus, Ignis and Prompto, when political tragedies start to happen and have them having to focus on solving said problems and getting to the heart of te magical issues that had set everything in motion to start with. That’s at least the gits of it without spoilers as the issues start very early on and distract from the “wedding trip” quickly.

There was a few promo material to ff15 that served as prologue if ever you’re curious - the game stands on its own but i really like what those pieces bring.

Mainly: Brotherhood, which is a webseries that came out shortly before the game and being set shortly after the beginning of the game that served to shed some light on the character’s relationships. The series is available for free on youtube with subtitles here, and it’s pretty short (5 episodes ranging from 11mins to 17mins for the longest one)(the playlist is backward though like, they set the last episode first and first episode last, so you need to start it from the bottom>up). Prompto’s episode is the second one and it keeps making me really soft and if the dialogue in the motel scene was compelling to you you’d be glad to watch it and see some of the stuff Prompto was talking about. the whole webseries is pretty cute though i love those four very much....

The other promo material is Kingsglaive, which is a movie that basically go in depth on what the Political Tragedy was about. Plotwise it happens between chapter 1 and 2 of the game (brotherhood is technically set after it too). As far as i am in the game currently i haven’t seen the event of the movies being brought up in details even though major plotpoints of it have been brought up. It’s honestly a pretty interesting experience to watch.

Honestly i think if you want to see if ff15 is for you, you can try out Brotherhood and/or Kingsglaive and see if you’re interested in the story the game wants to tell. Kingsglaive will give you an idea of the lore and challenges that awaits them, while Brotherhood will give you an idea of how the four main characters are and see if you want to carry on with them.

Meanwhile the game is honestly pretty fun to play and i am so full of love for the characters that it really makes me enjoy the whole trip even more! But if you can’t play it i’m sure there are playthroughs available online (or you can tune in when i stream it ahaha joking unless?).

so yeah i really like this game and if you’re interested in what you’ve seen so far i can only recomand it :3c

season 5 edition, basically

Thoughts on naruto p2!!! Spoiler warning, and don’t put spoilers in the comments.

23. NOOOOOOOOOOO don’t betray your friends for unimaginable power from a guy who can’t even use his own arms! (not to be ableist, it’s an inside joke between me and my sister)

24. At first I didn’t understand why everybody in the show was so certain Sasuke was the victim when he clearly willingly went with them, and like half a season later I realized he probably doesn’t have good enough emotional control to keep the curse mark from spreading and killing him.

25. Most of this season takes place over a couple of days and one overarching fight. Like sure, it’s mostly tracking and running and not a lot of actual fighting, but it really is one battle.

26. The ninja power level is so messed up. “Elite Jonin” nearly got taken out by a bunch of genins. Though the sand village genins were pretty strong.

27. Why are all the characters in this show so attractive? Is it the art style?

28. Tsunadae telling Gai that Rock Lee’s surgery went well so he can start training tomorrow even though he should rest for longer and immediately being interrupted by the nurses who say that Rock Lee ran away when I saw him last episode fighting an opponent that Naruto couldn’t even hit.

29. Kimimaru trying to fight a drunk child and losing. Well, at first.

30. Gaara making a reappearance!!! He’s kinda op though.

31. Orochimaru’s finest getting beat up by one (1) sand genin and a genin who recently got out of the hospital and spent half the fight drunk.

32. Rock Lee had some guts to stop a battle MID-FIGHT and say that he had to take his medicine.

33. The villains all have such compelling backstories and I want them to win now.

34. A running theme I’ve noticed in Naruto, is a reason for a person’s existence. The first time it’s really mentioned is with Gaara. But since then, it’s shown a lot more obviously. Gaara compares the look in his eyes to Sasuke’s. Naruto is scared of Gaara because he’s felt the same way. Gaara is what Naruto could’ve been, and it terrifies him. Gaara later compares the look in Sasuke’s eyes to the look in Kimimaru’s eyes. Kimimaru is at the time explaining that the reason for his existence is to make Orochimaru’s dreams and ambitions come true.

35. Sasuke went from insult (affectionate) to insult (derogatory).

36. You know when they first got on top of those statues I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be funny if somebody got yeeted off the waterfall. And Naruto was!

37. It’s really hard to watch the episodes where Sasuke loses his way. It hurts.

38. Sasuke’s got the metal wire in his mouth, lol.

39. We got wholesome Sasuke + Itachi moments, but at what cost? I had a whole thing here about timelines but I just realized it was inaccurate. Whoops?

40. The whole speech about dreams + the future really hit me in the feels.

41. Sasuke stop trying to kill your ex-friends 2k21 challenge.

42. Throughout their entire interaction, Naruto sounds like he’s going to cry.

43. STOP LETTING HIM PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE.

44. Naruto bruised his knuckles on Sasuke.

45. The thumbnail for this episode??? Is literally Naruto straddling Sasuke??? Why that???

46. Stop betraying your friends for power,,,, I miss u,,,,

47. Hearing Sasuke be compared to his older brother really hits hard. I didn’t think it really mattered until I remembered the insecurities I have because of my younger sister, who gets better grades than I did/do, is further ahead in her studies relative to her age than me, and is better at drawing than me. Plus, comparing siblings like that just isn’t something you should do.

48. Is Sasuke… becoming his brother?

49. Back when Kakashi was still in a coma from fighting Itachi it showed him having two pictures. He looks like a disgruntled cat. Or somebody who just woke up from a nap.

50. I’m starting to realize I have trouble telling Sasuke in the past from Sasuke in the present. It just makes his entire backstory even sadder to realize that Itachi forced him to rewatch the deaths of his family when he was a kid when I had previously thought it was when he was a genin and teenager. (which is still messed up, fyi)

51. SASUKE STOP TRYING TO KILL YOUR EX-FRIENDS 2K21 CHALLENGE.

52. Even as a child, Sasuke never bothered to get discharged. He just leaves when he wants.

53. …And now he’s disturbing a crime scene.

54. Naruto be like: *beats you up because he cares.*

55. I’m extremely happy by the implications that Sasuke refused to kill Naruto. Not couldn’t, or thought he was dead, but chose not to.

January 6th: Happy New Year!!

Hey there :) Just wanna start off by saying happy new year! Hoping 2021 goes a bit better than that trainwreck of a year which shall not be named.

So here I am, sitting here completing THREE resolutions at once. I’m eating a healthy breakfast (a yogurt parfait I made with blackberries and bananas), I’m listening to Iron Maiden’s discography (new music), and writing (writing!). I think I’ll kick off this year’s blog post by creating a list of new years resolutions.

1. EAT HEALTHIER. I know I said in my last blog post that I didn’t plan on changing my unhealthy eating habits anytime soon, but I’m so done with constant nausea & having low energy all the time. Also, bad news, I caved again & I’m not vegetarian anymore. I’ll probably go back again though ;)

2. Listen to new music. I have this tendency to listen to the same few songs all the frickin time & as much as I love those songs, I’m kinda sick of them. Plus, I want to gain some culture, y’know? As I’ve mentioned in literally every post I’ve made, my current favorite genre is metal. Fun story: I started getting into metal around 2019-ish to impress some metalhead guy I thought was cute. Now I live halfway across the country & no longer give a single crap about this dude, but I genuinely have developed a fondness for metal, especially thrash.

3. Write more. And here I am :)

4. Exercise I think? I don’t know if this is something I’m really gonna keep up with when I work full-time hours at a job where I’m always on my feet & rarely stand still. I think that’s plenty of activity, but I’d still like to learn how to run correctly (lol) & work on specific parts of my body, so I guess we’ll see where this year takes us. Either way, it’s definitely not my top priority.

5. Better grades. I just started this semester of classes & completed my first discussion post for one. I’m thinking/hoping this semester will go a bit better than the last.

6. Better hygiene & self-care. It’s always kinda embarrassing to admit that your hygiene is crap, but mine really is. I gotta do a better job of taking care of myself. This one is for sure one of the most important.

7. Use potty words less. Have you noticed I haven’t used any curse words in this post? :) Crap is not a curse word, you prudes. I’m not doing this because I care about offending people with my use of language. I’m doing this moreso because I want my cursing to carry more weight when I do it. When you have a friend who curses all the time, you get used to it and it no longer matters. But when that friend that rarely ever curses decides to drop an f-bomb outta nowhere, it’s a lot more powerful.

8. Be more organized. Pretty self-explanatory.

9. Save my money. This is one of the few goals I was pretty good about in 2020. I want to build my savings to work towards my bigger financial goal: becoming a homeowner. I know that’s a very wacky aspiration for an 18-year-old to have, but it’s not so crazy when you consider that I want to live in a cheap, rural area, and I’m a STEM major, which there’s potential for decent money in.

10. Less time on social media. Except this blog, obviously. I’ve been pretty inactive on instagram and snapchat for a while now, but I’m still on twitter more than I probably should be. I’m not following a lot of people on here, and I want to keep it to only inspirational/artistic/generally positive blogs on here.

11. Meditate. I think meditating would probably be really good for me. I can devote some of that time I spend scrolling mindlessly through twitter to meditation instead. It’d be a much healthier use of my time.

12. Explore spirituality. I feel like having a beliefs system will help me find a sense of purpose in life, something that I lack severely. Apart from that, I want to explore manifestation, alchemy, & other generally “witchy” things just to improve my own quality of life.

13. Find a partner. Seriously I am so effing lonely. But every time I get on Tinder & match with people, I kinda just disappear. It scares me for some reason.

14. Practice all my other hobbies. Sewing, guitar, piano, storywriting/songwriting, drawing, etc. I am not particularly skilled at any of these. I would like to be.

15. No more heat damage 2k21. I will not be blow drying, straightening, or doing anything to my hair that involves heat damage. I’ve been frying my hair for years and I’m trying to undo all of that. I may dye my hair once more back to its natural color or just a pitch black, as it’s currently a messy amalgamation of colors. I also really want to bleach just a strip of my hair so I can dye it any color I want, because I still want some color! I’ve never bleached my hair before & I’m aware it’s even more damaging than straightening, but I’m still doing it, I don’t care. I think I’ll bleach a strip on the right side. I always part my hair to the left, but I want to get a lip ring on the left side of my bottom lip (after there’s no more pandemic, ofc 🙂), so I’ll probably start parting it to the right. I’ll update y’all on that.

And I think that’s it! If I think of more I’ll post them separately, I think. Hope everyone’s 2021 is off to a nice start and goes really well :) Gonna cut this off here (gosh, I need to work on my writing skills, I know). Byeeeee !!
