notes - AHHH HI! Sorry this took so long, I've just been swamped with a ton of stuff, but I cleared out a bunch of requests and am more than happy to do this one for you! It's funny that I don't get a lot of requests even though my name is literally Tonberry lolol. Thanks for much for the request my dear! I hope you enjoy and have an amazing day <3 tag list - @cerezzzita (I remember you being interested in this one love <3), @kawaistrawberry21
CLOUD
Tumblr media
he wasn't expecting to be a father when he was young
like being a father was the last thing on his mind
but after everything chaotic in his life, he finally decided to settle down and found the perfect partner, you!
only then was he fully prepared to become a father
you talked about it a lot and told Cloud that he would be a wonderful father
he thought you would be a wonderful mother, so after a while, you found that you were going to have a child! (or if you prefer to adopt, that would be super cute for the two of you)
at first, raising a child was very difficult
it didn't matter that Cloud had nearly fought god in his lifetime, raising a child had to be one of the most challenging things he ever faced
this also made him a little self concious
he was helping, but saw you doing a lot of the work
^ he would always step in though to help, no hesitation
his favorite thing was teaching his child how to grow into a lovely human
lots of playing and just being a kid, which neither you nor Cloud really had, so it meant a lot to be having that with a child of your own
lots of family adventures and traveling
for the first time in a long time, a smile hasn't left Cloud's face <3
NOCTIS
Tumblr media
he would be TERRIFIED
he would be prepped, but terrified
you two talked about having a child, but even after talks, it was still scary
and you were a more natural mother, ready to help the child at any cost and already knew what to do
he just felt like some idiot in the back watching you
lets just say he spoiled you a little more than the baby because he felt bad for everything you had to do
he would still be a fun dad though
and the baby would have all their uncle chocobros to hang around
ignis teaches Noctis how to make food for the baby and through trial and error, he actually makes some pretty damn good food for the lil thing!
but having friends around makes raising the baby more fun, especially because you can trust them when you're too tired some days
Noctis though would love napping with the baby
^ you would walk into the kitchen to tell him that dinner's ready and find him napping with the baby on his chest and you definitely tear up and take TONS of pictures
he would be ecstatic, but he was more of a scared dad at first lol
he knew a baby would come eventually with him being king and all later, but he didn't know it would be such a hard thing
he's just thankful to you and his friends for being patient and helping out <3

Cuddles With Claude
age in bio when interacting. minors do not interact.
Word Count: 517 | Read it on AO3
Tumblr media
It had been a long day for Claude, constantly dealing with Alois. He hated it. He hated every minute of it, but he had a job to do. He acted as if everything was fine. You knew it wasn't. Claude had everything taken care of, and when the night came, you headed downstairs to check on him. Claude was still continuing to work.
"Claude, you should head for bed. Come on."
He sighed as you took his hand. He knew you weren't going to give up easily. He'd have to finish what he was doing tomorrow. He stopped and followed you upstairs. He probably would have fallen asleep right then and there if he didn't have to change into his nightclothes. He took his time but eventually changed and laid down next to you. His arm around you, holding you close as if it would be the last time that he ever did. Your face was against his chest, and your arm was around him as you both held each other. He gave your head a kiss and wished you goodnight. When he woke up early, he stayed a little longer in bed before he would get up, get ready, and get dressed for the day. He didn't want to leave the bed with you, but he had a job to do. The next day, you helped him out, and he got his job done a lot faster. You made sure to stay where Alois would never see you. That way, you wouldn't have to deal with him. You hated to do that to Claude, but you also knew Claude could get jealous, and you wouldn't know what Alois would say or do.
When the night came and Alois was away, you and Claude finally had some time alone together. You both got ready for bed and laid down together. Claude held onto you the same way he did each and every night. He held you as if it were the last time he ever did. He knew he would never lose you, but there were times that he couldn't help but worry that he one day might. Your head was against his chest, and you listened to the beating of his heart. You had both been together long enough that sometimes your heart beat at the same time. Your breathing slowed and matched his as you continued to lie together. Your arms are around his body. You held him close. You both stayed awake for a while, just holding one another. Cuddling and not saying a word. You both would just enjoy the silence at times. Eventually, you drifted to sleep, and when you woke up, Claude was still wrapped around you. It was almost as if he had never moved. He did, sometimes, but he would always find his way back around you. Despite how he acted during the day and how many believed he didn't enjoy hugging, let alone had a significant other, he did enjoy the cuddles you both did during the night and in the early morning before he had to leave.

The Evolving Nature of Keywords and Antagonists in Octopath Traveler II
Octopath Traveler II is a masterpiece. I find new ways to appreciate this fact all the time. I hit on one specific facet somewhat recently, so want to walk through each of the main quests and go over the extent to which the creators picked out powerful character-specific keywords which do heavy lifting on multiple levels.
I made a similar post about the keywords from OT1, if you're interested in reading that, but essentially, the "keyword" for a character is a single word chosen to represent their journey. It's used to in OT1 to denote the lead-in to Battle at Journey's End in the climax of a character's route, and in OT2 to fit into their "In Pursuit of _" route boss theme.
The keywords chosen for OT2 have had a lot of thought put into them, and represent not just the journey at a glance but how a character's objectives can change, and even how they relate to their primary antagonist.
(I recommend having the tracklist for the OT2 soundtrack beside you for this, if you're not already familiar.)
Ochette (For Legends)
Ochette is on a journey to find the creatures of legend in order to protect the island. Her journey also takes on meaning for her first chosen companion (Mahina/Akala) and Acta, who become legends in the final act of her journey.
In contrast, her opposite number Petrichor is trying to kill or incapcitate the creatures of legend. Cateracta is the only one that dies on account of her efforts, but Tera and Glacis both suffer at her hands. As does the darkling. Petrichor brings not just death, but suffering on those she seeks. It contrasts nicely with Ochette's first contemporary scene, which has her hunting a gator down specifically for eating too much of the local wildlife and disrupting the balance of the forest. There's a strong ethos about how death is faced, and why a hunt is undertaken. (i.e. to protect the larger environment versus for personal gain)
Hers is the storyline that deals most directly with the balance of life and death, and the importance of a good life and a humane death. In that sense, it's less important for Ochette to directly confront Petrichor because a good life and a humane death can be given regardless of what evils others inflict upon the world.
Castti (For Memories)
Castti, an amnesiac apothecary, is on a journey to restore her lost memories. She's also on her journey to extend a helping hand to those in need, in order to honor the besmirched memory of Eir's Apothecaries.
Her opposite number, Trousseau, was the one to taint Eir's Memory, and his poison has taken hers (either chemically or through trauma). Because his continued actions as a mass poisoner threaten to further sully the memory of Eir's Apothecaries, he needs to be confronted and put down directly for the memories to be laid to rest.
Also, the fact that non-evil Trousseau shows up in her last memory at the end is an indication that it's also a fight for Trousseau's memory in her heart. She can't remember the kind man he once was because it would lead her to hesitate about what needed to be done, but she does want to remember her lost loved ones fondly. Even Trousseau.
Throné (For Freedom)
Throné is fighting for her freedom from the Blacksnakes, and her opposite number, Claude, holds the keys to the collar literally wrapped around her throat. So he has to be fought, for obvious reasons. Fighting him also secures the kind of freedom Throné's never had for the nameless baby whose crying voice can be heard at the end of her route as the camera zooms out.
Still, we see that it's not just Throné suffering under Claude's thumb. We see her adoptive father lost the woman he loved to Claude, and orphans like Mira being raised to take the place of whatever snakes might lose their heads in any given heist.
And, despite the "Not my tits, not my problem" way she handles the power vacuum created by Claude's death, her actions do cause chaos that allows some other Blacksnakes and abused orphans like Mira to break free. Which is not to say they become good. They're still seen running rigged casinos and the like after her path is complete. But hey, freedom to be good implies one also has the freedom to be evil, or else it's not really freedom!
(Sidenote: The baby at the end of Throné's route is such a great narrative tool for pushing the readers to ask more questions. Did Throné originally have qualms about killing Claude due to the power vacuum that the need to free the child overrode? Did seeing the woman first, then her child with Claude, make her realize this would keep happening unless she killed him for real, despite her dislike for killing? Did Claude, a questionably suicidal immortal, engineer the whole setup to erase her doubts about killing him?)
Osvald (For Revenge)
Osvald sets out for revenge and gets his revenge at the climax of his route in a direct confrontation with Harvey, his opposite number and the number one object of his revenge.
This is only somewhat subverted, as Osvald's revenge succeeds in large part due to the power of love (as a father who loves and wants to protect his daughter). Really, revenge being the one goal that doesn't evolve as much fits with Octopath's general "revenge is actually pretty reasonable when you've been wronged to that extent" ethos.
Partitio (For Prosperity)
Partitio is on a journey to bring the world prosperity! Economic well-being! For all his friends. And everyone (save maybe a few shitty loan sharks) is his friend.
But he gets TWO antagonists. Roque is doing it For Wealth (choice of words mine), a similar but distinctly different and much more selfish end. One of the more obscure definitions of prosperity is "attainment of the object desired". Roque was fought because he needed it knocked into his noggin that trains can be good for more than warfare.
Ori has, like him, experienced extreme poverty and suffering (though her experience as a wartime orphan was more extreme) and wants to ease the world's suffering. She just initially prefers to do so by ending the world. However, Ori is never fought because Partitio was always fighting the battle for her heart, knowingly or not. And, at the very last, he reached her. ;_;
Agnea (For Hope)
Agnea Bristarni is on a journey to spread hope. And boy, does she ever!
But she also gets two antagonists. Dolcinea Luciel, the boss of Agnea's route, performs not For Hope, but instead For Applause (The first phase of her boss fight has theme music explicitly called called "In Pursuit of Applause"). It's a form of selfishness that does have to be confronted directly, albeit onstage rather than in an actual fight to the death.
Tanzy, Agnea's other opposite number, has already lost all hope. And that void in her heart was taken advantage of to make her a pawn of the moonshades (and ultimately, a sacrifice). Tanzy remains unfought, because the battle was for Tanzy's hope all along and Arcanette won that fight before the story began.
However, very much worth noting is that Agnea is the one character to not get a "The Journey for _ Ends…" theme on the soundtrack. Instead, her route boss track, juxtaposed squarely between "The Journey for Prosperity Ends" and "The Journey for Truth Ends" is the Song of Hope (which she sings herself!). I think this is a thematic choice that reflects that the hope Agnea strives to bring is more ephemeral as a concept. ("Like trying to grasp hold of a cloud", to paraphrase the ending of Hajime no Ippo.) I think this has a lot to do with why the game has the epilogue. Because while all eight travelers go on living and trying to better the world and themselves in their own way, Agnea's journey for hope continues.
Temenos (For Truth)
Temenos' quest is rather straightforward. He's a detective on a murder investigation. He's looking to discover the truth behind the pontiff's death, behind Roi's death, and eventually behind Crick's death as well.
But in a pretty heavy subversion, his "Journey Ends" track plays in the boss fight with Kaldena, well before he actually gets to the truth. He's the one character of the eight to directly fight his HTAPOTCO counterpart outside of his specific story arc. Because the track was incomplete and his journey for truth wasn't over yet. To add to the synergy, Arcanette was the one most responsible for concealing the truth from him, from the depth of the moonshades' duplicity to the truth of her own identity. And she's already succeeded insofar as her goal was to bring about the endless night, so by the time she's actually fought she's happy to spill all the beans, and you fight her not For Truth, but For The Dawn.
Hikari (For Kingship)
Hikari Ku wants the throne so he can govern with compassion.
He's also the third character to get two antagonists. His brother Mugen is a comically evil king who governs with an iron fist and sends his army to make war with their neighbors. He's fought directly in Hikari's final battle, Hikari becomes king, and he's able to begin repairing the damage and attempting to make a better, more compassionate world.
However, Hikari's opposite number in the moonshades, Oboro/Kazan, has a different view of kingship altogether. Arbuably the center-stage antagonist who gets dialogue prior to Vide's resurrection, Oboro rejects the notion that even a king truly can ease the suffering inherent in the world. It's impossible to change, no matter how hard anyone tries. (After all, he was a master strategist and he did his best strategic thinking to reduce war casualties, but it never did a lick of good.) So, throughout the story, he's helping Hikari's cause without believing in it.
He may be directly confronted in the climax of The Journey For the Dawn, but he's never fought because the battle here was not to gain the throne, but to convince Oboro that Hikari's rule could make a real difference once he was sitting on it.
---
And that's the eight. Wish I could say I could end it on a more profound point, but I don't really have one. I guess, writing this convinced me the story design in OT2 being spot on was very much by design. And the fact it was the result of intentional writer choices and not just an accident makes me feel a deeper connection to the game.

Eat Your Veggies
[Thought up while I was trying a spinach banana muffin recipe. Based off when I thought I messed up, but thankfully I didn't. Steve will tho.] [steddie. fluff. henderson appreciation. mostly steve-centric.]
Steve noticed a lot about Eddie Munson after they saved the world together and started hanging out. Picked up on his mannerisms; how he covered his face with those dark curls when he was overwhelmed by any emotions, how he couldn't stop moving if his life depended on it - either fiddling with his clunky rings or dancing over furniture like some otherworldly creature. He'd bemoan when Steve put ABBA's Super Trouper cassette in the stereo, but Steve always caught the way he'd drum the car door to "Lay All Your Love On Me" while Steve sung along. And whenever Steve made him a meal he'd eat around the veggies silently and wouldn't look at a salad.
It didn't matter what it was. Stew, burgers, omelettes. No matter how small Steve cut them up, Eddie wouldn't eat them.
It was driving Steve up a wall because his boyfriend needed a balanced diet.
He was possibly at his wits end one day after failing to sneak a spoonful of diced peppers into a beef patty and watched as the other boy had somehow squirreled every one to his cheeks and spit them into a napkin after he finished the burger. Steve knew his eyes were wide when Eddie just blinked and took a drink like nothing was wrong.
------------------------------------------------
It was later that same week, when Steve went to pick Dustin up for a D&D session, that he was given an idea.
While waiting for the kid to find his lucky dice, Steve chatted with Claudia. At first just normal stuff about how they were both doing (Claudia was doing much better now that all the interdimensional stuff was done and her son was no longer getting into grave danger every year) and eventually he asked her how she'd get Dustin to eat something he didn't like...like say vegetables or greens.
"Oh, Dusty hated spinach. I even tried to get him into Popeye in hopes of him wanting to emulate him but alas," she started, hand on her chest as she was clearly remembering the younger days of her baby.
Steve smiled softly as his shoulders slumped. He was hoping motherly knowledge would save the day. He nearly jumped when Claudia spoke up again.
"I did finally trick him into it. Just took knowing my audience better." There was tone of pride in her voice that made Steve chuckle. She looked at him and smiled back warmly as she stood. "If Eddie's the same I've got just the recipe for you."
She waved for Steve to follow her to the kitchen, where she kept a catalog of recipes that her and her son relished. The tome was handwritten and tabbed neatly. The matron dug a notepad and pen out from a junk drawer then thumbed through the recipes. She quickly copied one with a concentration that matched Dustin's when he made his characters' backstories.
And it was just as Claudia had put down her pen and carefully torn off the memo page that Dustin walked in, "Alright com'on we're gonna be late."
The adults exchanged a look before Steve rolled his eyes and Claudia snickered. "Dude you were the one who spent 20 minutes trying to find his seven sided dice," Steve started.
Dustin pointed with a jab to the air. "Hey, it's a d8 Steve. As in eight sides. And a single dice is just a die."
With a scoff Steve turned to Claudia, gently took the recipe and gave the top of her head a small kiss. "Thanks for this Clauds, I'll let you know how it goes."
"Hey you already have my dm, can you not hit on my mom too?" Dustin yelled, already on his way over to get between two of his three favorite people. Claudia and Steve laughed again as the kid hugged his mom before the boys left.
------------------------------------------------
With all the kids rounded up and dropped off at the house, Steve made a quick stop at the store. The moment he stepped back through the door he could hear the animated speech Eddie was giving about some fungal demon queen who Steve hoped wouldn't manifest into the real world next. Everyone was hanging on Eddie's every word as Steve walked past them.
Knowing that he should have the kitchen to himself for long enough, Steve got to work. Spinach, some chopped up banana and more went into his blender as Billy Joel played lowly on his stereo - not too loud so he could still hear his boyfriend's voice. Not that that mattered once the blender was on. Man was that thing loud. So loud that Steve wouldn't notice a lull from the living room or when someone walked behind him to snag some drinks from the fridge. By the time he thought the mixture looked smooth enough, the game was back on at full blast.
He read that the flour went in next, so it did. He turned on the blender before realizing he didn't know how long he was supposed to mix this time. Turns out, not as long as it took to read through the recipe. By the time Steve had turned the blender off again and read the words "pour the batter" he knew he'd fucked up. This was definitely more like a dough.
"Shit," Steve muttered as he scooped his creation into a muffin tin. He was careful with the placement of the chocolate chips, making monster faces like Claudia's writing instructed.
And just like that, the muffins were in the oven, the timer was set and the kitchen was cleaned up. He took a seat in the living room in the meantime, basking in the atmosphere Eddie provided. The kids began to whoop and holler as Will got a critical hit on something. Not the main baddie, Steve was pretty sure since they were only two hours into the session. But everyone was still excited and he even gave a cheer for the boy wizard.
Then the timer gave a ding and Steve slipped away. Out came the muffins with the help of cat-printed oven mitts. Not wanting to ruin the carefully crafted faces, Steve maneuvered the muffins out with a toothpick and a fork. Each was placed on a serving platter. A few broke and he cussed each time. When everything was done he picked up a broken one and tested it with a grimace. The flavor was fine, but it was so dense. Not the child, or Eddie, friendly snack it was supposed to be.
Grumbling about overmixing the flour, Steve turned around with the platter with the intent to dump the contents in the trash.
And he ran right into Eddie. The muffins barely stayed on the plate.
"Oh holy sh-! How'd you sneak up like that?" Steve screeched. The glint in Eddie's eye did little to calm his beating heart. Nor did the smug smirk.
"I'm like a cat, babe," he cooed, reaching over to snag a muffin.
Steve couldn't even reach out a hand to stop him, not without making a mess. So he just watched as the rocker eyed his ill-gotten gains, the wrinkles near his eyes getting pronounced as his smile widened.
"Made little monsters for your little monsters, Stevie boy?" he said before putting the entire thing in his mouth. The grin never faltered as he chewed and chewed then swallowed. Or when he took the platter from Steve's frozen hands and landed a crumb-covered kiss on his cheek.
"Saw the spinach on the counter earlier, but s'still good. The effort's cute." He wiped the transferred crumbs off Steve's frozen face. And Steve continued to not recover as Eddie screamed about the monster muffins and almost started a riot by saying they all belonged to him.

Is anywhere else doing a sapphic route. I'm so bored that I feel like crying. All het players are exploring their options. Not only are the writers making it seem like my MC is playing the game but I have to watch my LI with someone else for months. Why is it that seasons that treat sapphic players poorly always happen to be fan favourites? I really wish the fandom could have our backs at least once mate. Literally nobody seems to care that LGBT players are getting forked over again. Can't we have a female LI appreciation month or something?
i've seen a few people who are doing claudia/bea routes! i love claud but i do hate how the game treats MC like a hoe for pursuing her when i have been loyal...to her . not to mention all the dialogue about theo & OG LI/casa guy getting pissed off every single time i flirt with her during challenges . it's getting old
there's only 9 episodes left, today's recoupling should've been a chance to actually get with the LI we want . instead we're forced to be with OG LI (or casa guy) all while he's being like "i know you have a thing with claudia...🥺" (i miss season 3 more than ever, being able to couple up with a girl in the second recoupling was amazing, should've been the standard going forward. idk why FB decided to regress)
heavy on the boredom. over half of the drama is centered around OG LI & MC . i think the only way i could make it possibly clearer i don't want him is to dive into the code & rewrite the damn game myself. and don't even get me started on sienna
with the amount of times the game prompts you to choose your "main LI," she could've easily been a bi rival that grafts on whoever you chose (like how valentina can take najuma on a date, not just the guys) of course that wouldn't fix her being annoying and one-dimensional, but at least i'd actually have a reason to care.
(it sucks that wlw players already have so few options to begin with, only to be further limited by having to choose one, way before you have to lock in a male LI . in one of my volume recaps i mentioned how the game was already forcing us to choose between claudia and bea)
i think this season is great if you're on a loyal OG LI route (or just burning the villa lol) and at this point it's just unpleasant for literally anyone else. i wish the same, & i try to call out anything "problematic," idk a better word for it, basically FB's piss poor representation of LGBT and islanders of colour. but i'm only one person, and unfortunately a lot of the fandom has more smoke for sienna than anything
and i think that lack of pressure put on FB to do better is why they're perfectly content with screwing over wlw players (not to mention i've seen some people who shrug it off as "well the show is based on straight couples!🤷🏽" ... even though the game barely follows the show anymore, but i digress)
i just hope that theo romancers (& ppl that wanted their casa LI but got stuck with their OG) who are rightfully mad as well are enough for FB to realise how stupid of a decision this was. being extremely generous and assuming the final recoupling is gonna be right at the beginning in the next episode...we'll have, at most, 9 episodes to be in an official couple with our LI. almost 1/5th of the entire season 🙄🙄🙄
an appreciation month for the ladies would be lovely though . i don't have any experience with organising stuff like that but june/pride month is in 2 months ! 👀

Hi, I love your stories (and your my fav littlespace blog) and I saw that you do monsters and creatures so can I request a werewolf with a little!reader who loves to cuddle, even when he transforms into a wolf? The thought of a little looking at a werewolf and going “Puppy!” Is just a really adorable concept—
Cg!Werewolf (Claude) x Little!reader headcannons
Contains: Littlespace, cgl dynamics, established relationships, cuddling, fluff
**Littlespace and Ageregression will never be sexualized on this blog**
Tumblr media
Finding out your Cg was a werewolf was definitely an extremely interesting experience
“Okay, Baby, I have something to show you and I need you to *not* freak out.” Your Cg said one day, as he pulled you into the woods
You watched in curious horror as he turned into a wolf and just stared stunned for a moment before he came up and nudged you with his snout
That was a few months ago, you were much more adjusted now, you had the full moons marked constantly in your calendar
You excitedly gathered the supplies for Claude to shift and got ready for being smol
“Alright, littleone, we have a couple hours before I change so let’s get some food in your belly and bathed and in your pjs.” You excitedly ate your favorite little meal he prepared for you
“I’m so excited!” I love the puppy!” You said and Claude smiled and ruffled your hair, he was always so appreciative you loved his wolf side
After bath and pjs Claude sat you infront of the tv, he still didn’t like you watching him shift if he could help it so he went into the other room and let you watch your favorite cartoon
When he finally shifted and walked into the room you were in you gasped, your eyes lighting up
“Puppy!” You yelled and ran over to him, petting him softly, he nudged you back over to the couch, gently leading you to come and cuddle him
You gladly used him as a big warm pillow and drifted to sleep petting him softly

3 Houses Dimiclaude Appreciation Post
There are so many hinted aspects of compatibility that make Dimitri and Claude fun together. It starts with the simple things, such as their similar taste in tea...
Dimitri's favorite tea: Chamomile Claude's favorite teas: Almyran Pine Needles, Chamomile
To their mutual love of riding...
Dimitri's likes: Combat, high-quality weapons, strength training, going for long rides, physically laborious work Claude's likes: Feasts, long rides, archery, topics of curiosity
Dimitri's favorite items: Training Weight, Whetstone, Riding Boots, Ceremonial Sword Claude's favorite items: Riding Boots, Book of Crest Designs, Exotic Spices, Board Game
To their long nights researching in the library...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They even had similarly strange, harsh warrior cultures they grew up in and tell stories about...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Neither of them is okay with the death of innocents...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Or people dying on their behalf...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And even at his worst (Gronder), Dimitri is practically patient in his verbal response to Claude compared to everyone else, asking him to move instead of dismissing him or threatening to kill him...
Dimitri vs others: You're not worth it. Get out of my sight. Dimitri vs Byelth: Are you trying to stop me too? Then I'll just have to kill you! Dimitri vs Claude: Move Claude. I have no time to exchange words with you.
At his best in Chapter 19 of Azure Moon, they trust each other against all odds, and Dimitri cannot complete his story without saving Claude...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dimitri: I will not let Claude die...Let's hurry to his rescue.
And Claude bets on just how kind Dimitri is, showing an understanding of his struggles with the weight of leadership and loss, promising to meet again with no strings attached...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
They show regret for the suffering of the less fortunate...
Dimitri's ask box: I lived in the slums for a long time, and I saw how the people there suffered from poverty and the ravages of war. There must be something I can do to save them. Correct answer: Strive to change Fodlan from the ground up.
Claude: The nobles start the war, but it's the commoners who spill their blood first...
They want to break down ideological barriers that keep people prejudiced and hateful, with Dimitri learning to let go of his hatred of those who caused the Tragedy to ultimately uphold this ideal...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And they make good on that promise on their own in their respective paths, focusing on foreign relations as a major part of their policy...
Dimitri Solo Ending: After his coronation, Dimitri spent his life reforming and ruling justly over Fódlan. He focused particularly on improving living situations for orphans and improving foreign relations. He was known for listening intently to the voices of all, and for instituting a new form of government in which the people were free to be active participants. He lived for his people and alongside them, and was thusly dubbed the Savior King. Claude Solo Ending: Claude returned to his homeland of Almyra and assumed the role of a politically active prince. After inheriting the throne, he worked to improve relations with Fódlan. In addition to establishing new trade routes, he fostered trust by sending reinforcements into Fódlan to help quell revolts by the remnants of the Imperial loyalists. Under his guidance, the peoples of Fódlan and Almyra were finally able to set aside age-old prejudices, and over time, the fallacies of old were all but forgotten.
They bicker sometimes...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Admire each other at others...
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
But most of all, they share tiny moments of fondness that are as sweet as they are unexpected if you aren't looking for it.

Heather supports with Lysithea
I wanted to write for Claude finally... But I had an idea for Lysithea hah
C support
Heather: Okay, time to snip some up!
Lysithea: Oh, good evening Heather, what are you doing here at this hour..?
Heather: Bah! Lysithea! You scared me a little... But to answer your question.
Heather: The kitchen was busy the entire day and I was dying to bake something. So I decided that no matter what today I will bake.
Lysithea: Oh, I see.
Heather: It's nothing special, just some simple cookies.
Heather: Although I'm afraid that I added a little bit too much sugar... And butter... Actually I added too much of everything because it will be a huge batch.
Lysithea: How did that even happen..?
Heather: At first I added waaay too much sugar and then I started to balance it out by adding more of each ingredient.
Heather: Now that I think about it... Maybe I should've started from scratch... Not much would go to waste.
Lysithea: Or you could start properly measuring your ingredients.
Lysithea: That is... If you're actually following the recipe.
Heather: As a matter of fact, I don't.
Heather: Recipes are guidelines not to be followed!
Lysithea: That's... Quite the statement...
Heather: Either way... When I'm done... Do you mind taking some of those cookies with you?
Lysithea: ... I'll help you. You still have quite a lot of dough there but you don't have to do it all now. Put some away for later.
Heather: Oh right! That's actually a good idea... Why didn't I think of that..?
B support:
Lysithea: Heather, I have something I'd like to discuss.
Heather: hm? Sure thing, I'll hear you out!
Lysithea: Good, then I'll teach you to plan ahead.
Lysithea: You always act first, think later so it's about time you be more responsible.
Heather: I had a feeling you'd say that, I appreciate the thought really, but what happened last time was not the norm.
Lysithea: And what was that about "guidelines not to be followed"?
Heather: Simple really, what I mean by that is that when baking going with the flow makes it more fun and satisfying.
Heather: Anyone can follow a book, but when you add your own touches is when your cooking gets to be more special.
Heather: But I do agree that a lot of... Problems could be avoided if I were to at least put my random measurement of an ingredient in a separate bowl so I can control it.
Lysithea: That's a good step in the right direction. But I must say... Baking with you was a lot of fun even if we were just finishing it.
Lysithea: So I was wondering... Maybe we should try making something from scratch? I'll of course regulate your chaos.
Heather: That'll help me get into the measuring habit.
Lysithea: You can count on me to make sure of that.
B+ support:
Lysithea: Heather! No! You can't put that in yet!
Heather: Trust the process, I've done it plenty of times.
Lysithea: It won't be as good if you won't let it sit.
Heather: Alright fine, we'll do it your way...
Lysithea: Good.
Lysithea: Just know that I'm not doubting your abilities, but it's some steps just can't be skipped.
Heather: Alright, I suppose I'm just a bit hyped is all.
Heather: You're always so good at so many things... I think I just wanted to show off now.
Lysithea: I see...
Lysithea: Well, you definitely don't need to show off your baking skills.
Lysithea: I've tasted your treat numerous of times, while the way you do it is questionable- the results rarely are anything less than delicious.
Heather: Thank you!
Lysithea: But you need to also pay more attention to fundamentals. I'm not saying you have to do everything by the book.
Heather: I get what you mean... I'll try to do just that.
Lysithea: Then here is something you can start practicing with.
Heather: Ooh, a recipe from you? I'm definitely looking forward to making it.
A support:
Lysithea: Oh, Heather, you're baking late again?
Heather: What can I say, some habits die hard...
Heather: ...
Lysithea: Is something wrong?
Heather: I just... Though this would help me get my mind of things.
Lysithea: I see...
Lysithea: Huh... You're following that recipe?
Heather: I'd be a fool to disrespect your personal recipe.
Heather: And well... I guess I've been too distracted to even try to do it my way.
Heather: Everything that's happened recently... I guess it's weighing on my mind still.
Lysithea: ...
Lysithea: Heather.
Heather: Yes?
Lysithea: I want you to try it doing your own way, right now.
Heather: But I'm halfway in. Besides, you told me to-
Lysithea: I know what I said. But it's just so hard to watch you without that spark when you bake.
Lysithea: It's something special to you. And I don't want you to do anything else but to go with your heart.
Heather: Alright... But only if you regulate the chaos again.
Heather: To be honest... I found it hard to fully enjoy baking alone, besides I wouldn't want you to just stand back and watch.
Lysithea: Alright, we have a deal.
Lysithea: We will bake together as often as you'd like.
Heather: I wouldn't want to take up your time...
Lysithea: Listen, how I spend my time is my choice alone.
Lysithea: And that choice is- to make delicious sweets we can enjoy later together.
Heather: That's quite a sweet offer.
Lysithea: ... You know I just might change my mind.
Heather: Aww come on! You walked into that one.
Lysithea: And soon I'll walk out of the kitchen.
Heather: Wait! Lysithea don't leave me! What about the cake!?

Rêverie
Pairing: Peter/Percival
Genre: Fluff, with a little bit of angst
First of all, this is written in second person PoV. "You" in this drabble is Percival. (Not you readers! This is not x reader fic lol.)
And I highly recommend reading this while listening to Rêverie by Claude Debussy. Do it. There's a reason for this and you'll know why.
This morning is quiet and serene; something you really appreciate after you have dealt with loads of paperworks for almost an entire week.
Now, you are lying on the bed, leisurely enjoying the peacefulness this morning brings to you. You have been absent-mindedly gazing at the white curtain since you are awake, watching it flutter along with waves after waves of gentle breezes.
That is when you start to notice; there is no arm or leg wrapping around you like usual. Where is he? You roll over to look at the other side of the bed. It’s empty; no traces of warmth left when you lay your hand on the sheet. Same goes for the pillow. He must have already gone long ago.
Then you hear something; the answer to your prior question comes in the form of faint melodies softly playing in the distance. So you decide to get up, stretch yourself a little bit, then leave the bedroom.
The music is getting clearer and clearer as you walk down the corridor. When you start going downstairs, you finally recognize the song; it is one of his favorite classical pieces. Peter probably has mentioned the name before but you always failed to remember it. It sounds dreamy, and makes you feel like you're in a dream-like state.
And there he is.
Peter, still in his navy blue satin pajamas, is playing piano in the living room. Rays of morning light from one of the windows shines on him. The way his hair shimmers, how his skin glows brighter under the sunlight, everything makes him look like an angel.
The sight before you seems almost too good to be true. He is so young, graceful, and breathtaking. Everything feels unreal.
And yet, there he is.
In your house.
Yours.
"Morning, dear," Peter greets you, while his eyes still focus on the keyboard beneath his hand.
"How did you know I’m here? "
"Instinct." He smiles as he answers.
"Oh, am I interrupting you? "
"Quite the contrary, amore," Peter replies. You would never get tired of his endearment. He speaks Italian now and then even after moving back to London to live with you, and you absolutely adore it. "Actually, this daily practice interrupts me from admiring you.
You cannot help but smile back. You walk across the room to join him on the same bench, watching his fingers working magic on the keyboard, and also fighting back the urge to lean on his shoulder.
"Did you sleep well? " Peter asks. He slows down the tempo until it’s more like casually playing rather than an actual practice.
"Mm."
"There’s some coffee left." He makes a gesture towards the kitchen. "I can make some pancakes for you too, if you like."
"No, no. You don’t have to. I don’t want to bother you,"
And that is when Peter stops playing. He turns to face you. One hand withdraws away from the piano to caress your cheek. His touch is tender, as if you are his most precious person ever.
Wait, you are.
"You’re never a bother to me, my dear Percy." His voice, the way he calls your name makes your heart warm and fuzzy. You cannot help but lean into his hand, wanting more of his warmth, his lovingly gaze, everything.
If heaven existed, this would be it. This is your definition of heaven.
"Percival? "
Strange. He just called you by your pet name. Why would he starts calling you by your-
"Percival? "
The second call of your full name startles you, shattering the dreamy illusion you’ve created without knowing as you snap back to reality again; no more blissful morning, no more sitting side by side.
And you are not in your own house, but in a studio, sitting on a chair with your head tilting to the side a little bit.
It was all just a dream, of course.
You would never have a chance to live like that again. There is no more ‘living happily ever after’ waiting for you, no second chances, not since–
"You’ve been staring at the wall for a while now, is everything all right? " Peter asks with a puzzled look on his face.
No, but I'll pretend to be fine just like I always do. You thought, as you straightened yourself back to your usual stoic persona; the mask you always wear and doesn't have a plan to take them off anytime soon.
"Yeah, I just…I think I was daydreaming a bit."
"How fitting. The piece I just played for you is called ‘Rêverie’." Peter gives you a reassurement smile. "Don’t worry, I got the same reaction as yours when I heard this the very first time. It sounds so dreamy, don’t you think? "
"I think so," You said. "It was so beautiful."
His smile grows wider. And you are, too. Especially when you–
No.
Stop it.
Stop.
"Whenever I hear this piece, I imagine myself settling down with someone I love. We would sit on a bench together while I played something."
It doesn't help at all when Peter's vision is awfully accurate to what you’ve had in mind earlier. Is this a sign? You wonder. Is this a sign for me to finally move on?
But what about him?
"How about you? What were you daydreaming about? "
Us.
"Good old memories." You lied, of course. You always do.
But it’s probably better than telling the truth.
You're not ready for that.

ok here's them throuses fic recs in a format that won't cap my character count: "Watchtower" by mareza [https://archiveofourown.org/works/20755727] Sylvain angst abt Gautier's role as defending the border with Sreng extended towards that idea of "I spent so much time look out that I failed to look in". Goes from pre-game to war phase. Tone is dramatic and sad. Faerghus is where fun happy people go to have that fixed, etc etc "a poem for strong things (boy with crest)" by.. oh this is also mareza lmao. [https://archiveofourown.org/works/20568998] it IS About Dimitri but uhm. well. ok the premise is that school phase some of the kids are speculating on if dimitri's crest means he would injure a sexual partner and several of them bet on if they can seduce him to find out. it's a school phase comedy that features everyone on your faves list (sylvain most, dorothea also a significant amount, edelgard is only there for a couple scenes but she has opinions). It's a lot of talking about Dimitri obviously since he's the subject of their bet, but each of the characters participating in the bet has a segment that's told from their PoV so you're really getting more on what /they're/ thinking rather than what Dimitri is doing or thinking. If you are worried about the implications of "a bunch of people are trying to seduce this sad wet boy under false pretenses" he's ok in the end. "homeroom (or, if we're not recruited in 15 minutes, we're legally allowed to leave)" by Schistosity [https://archiveofourown.org/works/24140818] school phase comedy again (ahh the sweet summer days for the tragic future world leaders with magic powers) this time taking place in a world where byleth recruits everyone except edelgard, hubert, claude, and hilda, and it follows their unlikely antics while literally everyone else is (mostly) off screen doing game event stuff. it's well-written, sweet, and fun "my fellow passerine" by... goddamnit, also Schistosity. I swear I've read more than just these 2 authors. [https://archiveofourown.org/works/24625273/chapters/59492041]. OK PREFACE this one is about Claude (from Cyril's POV) and spoils some important Claude stuff that you may have seen Suggested but not outright Said, and also some specifics related to that which are not revealed until later in the game than where you are I THINK it's been several years since I played throuses so WARNINGS. actually maybe don't read this one until you're done with claude's route or at least pretty far in there. once you know all the claude stuff. but ok but I did not care at all of Cyril's worship of Rhea and this fic makes me appreciate Cyril. So it gets props for that. Finally, in honor of Time Travel Fics, "I Know, I'll know (that you were my future, and you were my past)" by placesinfive [https://archiveofourown.org/works/42667977]. Blue lions route takes place nebulously in war phase. Byleth time powers hijink sends the gang back in time where they have brief encounters with younger versions of... each other. Each of these little scenes is very sweet, and the author put a lot of thought into who meets who. Shout out to Annette's, Ashe's, and Mercedes' segments which make me feel things. There is a final section where they all reconvene and have awkwardness about meeting each others' past selves that honestly I think... ehh, "weakens the whole" is a bit harsh but I think the fic could have done without it. Maybe the author wanted to end on some levity? Or maybe the author just liked it and wanted to have it! They can do whatever they want, I'm not a cop.
I tried to keep my blions bias out of this but I am also dedicating this fic rec list to this post/tweet which I think about constantly: https://www.tumblr.com/pierroticism/712250352420978688 He is a man who murders women. Not just kills. But murders.
yayyy yay yippee yay so looking forward to these! blue lions’ connections to one another made me INSANE so very felt on that front. that said. well. edelgard 🫶. i’ve read some good more shippy stuff which i can dm to you if you’re interested and also one petra fic where it doesn’t Quite work but there’s enough in there that it really really gets you thinking about her. i’ve been tearing thru a lot of fic lol. but i need to read more black eagles )-: i was sort of expecting to like sylvain (he is a blorbo in law turned blorbo i guess ) but i didn’t know anything about him so it was very shocking and annoying right until i Got him. that said i tried to start w blue lions but i played black eagles first since edelgard bewitched me completely. i’m still obsessed w her. blue lions is fun but since their ending is like “bandaid happy ending” it was hard to play. also because i hate the church lol. but yes. dm me 🫶 or message me on discord either works. i’ll let u know what i think of the fics as i read them! :-3

There’s an interesting dichotomy in the way that Three Hopes expands on Claude’s character that I’m still chewing on, where giving him more room to breath and assert himself has simultaneously made me lose a great deal of respect for him as a leader, grow to slightly dislike him as a person, but also sympathize with his perspective and appreciate him much more as a character.
Three Houses always tried to tell us that Claude was a scheming trickster willing to hurt people to get what he wants- and there’s evidence of that in some scenes like Jeralts journal, but for the most part we’re largely exposed to his more sincere and kind side, and very little negative consequences of his plotting without reading between the lines of his motives
Three Hopes has in that regard done a fantastic job of correcting that and showing off his intended character flaws as advertised, with situations like the Gloucester Gambit, Naders subterfuge, and especially the two routes of Aillell sacrifice / betrayal.
We finally see a Claude that is making big, swingy, risky plays to achieve his goals with incredible strategic gains- and commensurate costs, often morally. Having to kill his brother, leaving his allies to die, staking a provinces’ reputation on a gamble, or dooming his nations status for a cheap powergrab and dying in the process all showcase the kind of ballsy and Machiavellian shit that Claude is willing to pull when he’s in charge of moving chess pieces on the board
And it also shows his detachment from the consequences and translating theory to reality, his unwillingness to trust others, and most importantly- the subtly selfish and prideful nature of his outwardly progressive ambitions.
The first and the last are where my disagreements with his politics lie, and the middle being the dramatic flaw that both gives him sympathy and prevents him from overcoming the others.
To get into what I mean by detachment from reality we only have to look at one example from each game to prove consistency; in Crimson Flower Hilda fights to the death, and Claude remarks heartbroken that she was supposed to retreat; a brief and simply painful reminder that he’s failed to take the human element into account during his planning.
Likewise in Golden Wildfire Aillell; Claude’s perfect plan to ensure that no Leicester troops die and the church is routed utterly disregards the humanity of the imperial allies he sacrifices, and even the empathy of those under his command who watched a good man die senselessly as he was betrayed and locked in a cage match with a legendary warrior during his retreat.
It takes a serious dressing-down from Shez afterwards to set him right, but even before anyone criticized him Claude’s already doubting himself and feeling guilty; it’s not that he doesn’t care about peoples lives, he’s just unable to see the numbers in his schemes as real until the blood is already on his hands.
His difficulty trusting others both explains and corrects this flaw to a degree; the moment he opens himself up to others he starts making more humane decisions because he’s being held accountable and reminded of the stakes of his decisions. And there’s a great deal of sympathy to be had for this well meaning and intelligent man with great ambitious struggling to trust and confide in others.
But when it comes to grand politics, that detachment returns, and combines with the wicked little hint of pride. Claude doesn’t just want to change the world to be more inclusive- to a certain degree, he also wants to be the one that makes it happen. He wants to maintain his independence, his leadership, his Leicester no matter the cost.
These facets both come across clearly in his conversation to edelgard in Zahras- Edelgard asks Claude to explain the nature of his lofty ambitions for social reform, and he refuses to explain to her, instead snidely taunting that her own ambitions only span the continent, and not the globe.
It’s not that I don’t believe that Claude plans to revolutionize the world; but I’m skeptical of how he’s going to do it and what he’s going to achieve, and at what cost.
With Edelgard, the cost is stated upfront; a brutal, bloody war where many will suffer and die, in exchange for the restructuring of the church and dismantling of crest-based inherited nobility.
One certainly might not agree with the methods or even the goal itself, but it’s not in question at any point exactly what she’s doing, how, and why.
With Claude, we’re not really sure how he plans to enact his sweeping change, only his colourful descriptions of his dream of a world without borders or race or creed. A noble goal- but a distant one with a poorly described route, and one that he’s not willing to entrust or describe to others.
And even the finale of his own route Golden Wildfire, we see his plans not amount to what he expects; a detachment of theory from reality as the defeat of the Archbishop fails to end the war between Faerghus and Adrestia. Closer to his goal, but an indeterminate amount. With actions dictated by what’s best for current Leicester as much as for Fodlan, or the world. And I think this is really interesting! Claude is a big-dreamer with big ideas, but they’re not super grounded in reality because the man himself is not super grounded. He’s left behind his homeland and his right to be a King in order to ‘earn’ his way into the leadership of another nation; here going so far as to be proclaimed King of Leicester on his own.
He doesn’t trust anyone to help him define or stabilize his ambitions and even as he begins to correct this flaw through the course of the plot he never truly overcomes it in the short timeline we’re shown. It makes him feel so much more human and so much more humble than he appeared before; solidifying him very much as the sort of Lord contrasting the other two who’s determined to rise to greatness through his own power and methods rather than adapting the system granted to them.
While Dimitri and Edelgard have given responsibilities and expectations as a king, Claude is much more free to define his own style and that’s both a great strength and a great weakness. He has no expectations, but no guidelines either.
And ultimately for my personal opinion thats’ what makes me feel like he’s a very relatable and understandable person, but as a citizen of Fodlan I could never feel comfortable entrusting governance to him.
There’s simply no way to predict what schemes and gambits he’s going to do next, what his next goals for nebulous reform are, where his loyalties lie, or what the cost is going to be. There’s simply no comfort you can take in expectations or reliability of results.
Dimitri offers that stability in of itself with his conservative status quo and attempt to bring up the absolute bottom line rather than progress society, and Edelgard’s revolution is extremely regimented and ordered- with every detail of the shakeup plotted and promised and decided via ministerial and imperial doctrine.  Citizens of the Kingdom and the Empire know what they’re in for... but if you’re a member of the brand new Leicester Federation... how are you supposed to predict what your King is going to do next?

8, 18, 27, 30!
8. Least favorite lord/protagonist?
haha, this feels like a bit of a cheap answer, but: eliwood's such a nothingburger of a character. the writing in FE7 was generally weaker than the games in the series i care more deeply about, so like, the dude has a serious disadvantage there, but lyn & hector were both reliably more interesting, whereas eliwood is just. bland wonderbread
18. How do you tend to play Fire Emblem? (es. casually, doing Ironman runs, playing it like a visual novel)
i like the strategy & story aspects of the games equally, and i like them in a can't-put-it-down, can't-wait-to-see-what-happens-next, can't-wait-to-try-the-next-map kinda way. ergo, i tend to play: on hard mode (but generally not maddening, because if it's too hard that kills my forward momentum), strategy nerding pretty hard but not exhaustively so (i.e. i'm not gonna spend ages on forums trying to figure out the Objectively Correct Build; that takes away time from PLAYING THE GAME), bolting straight for the ending (e.g. ignoring skirmishes in games that have those), as fast as humanly possible. (it's dangerous for me to open an FE game if i have other important obligations going on in my life lol)
i'm also definitely influenced a bit by who else is playing around me. when Awakening came out, me + my most strategy-nerd FE friend were on an absolute tear to see who could out-hardcore the other, so i was doing EXHAUSTIVE spreadsheets for all the genetics stuff haha.
i also was doing a weekly slowplay of the Tellius games with some friends a few years ago and that was REALLY fun. we'd all played the games before and liked them, so we'd switch who was piloting the map each week and the rest of us would heckle, share opinions about characters/story/tactics/etc. good times <3
27. Any fanfics/fan content you’d recommend? (You can plug your own stuff it’s fine)
oh boy DO I EVER, here's a bunch
MAGVEL
* sleep of the just. occasionally i get to be the person to send this fic to someone who JUST finished Sacred Stones for the FIRST time, and then they send me a capslock WHAT THE FUCK message an hour later and i'm just like :DDDDDDDDDDDD
* l'arachel/rennac silliness! and yet more l'arachel/rennac silliness!
* this one's technically a crossover with Awakening but. L'ARACHEL. MY GIRL. jonphaedrus writes her so well sighs into hands
* we all love creepy ephraim/lyon, yes? yes.
TELLIUS
* i'm completely feral for myaru's naesala/sanaki stuff. here's one, here's another
* here's naesala being a messy disaster for 20k words and i love it so much
* actually the correct soren pairing is: soren/kurthnaga
* i think about the final scene in this sothe/micaiah/pelleas disaster like once a week
* this sothe & tormod friendship thing is so perfect that i've been checking it every day since i got it as a gift & thinkin GOD MORE PEOPLE NEED TO APPRECIATE HOW GOOD THIS SHIT IS
* shinon is my favorite asshole
* bastian & renning. god i can't believe more people haven't fic'd them, but, at least there is this one and it's a great time
THREE HOUSES
* the blue lions defect to the empire & everyone's miserable in the most delicious way. also there's some serious edelgard/ingrid vibes and they're immaculate
* this ashen wolves casefic is just so satisfying and cute and self-contained and fun
* this claude and flayn bodyswap fic is really goofy and fun and pitch-perfect. and if you dig it, there's more where that came from; the author excels at having so much FUN with every fic they touch
* cough there's a certain dimitri/yuri fic that's, uh, very iddy and has every trigger warning imaginable but also rules. i ain't linkin it here, but it's not hard to find, if that sounds compelling lol
and yeah i also write fic! Silent World is probably my personal fave ("Naesala being a bastard for 15k words, what's not to love"), but i've written plenty of other stuff, mostly featuring golden deer & laguz characters~
30. Since horse abuse is currently popular on Tumblr, beat up a dead horse with your take on an oversaturated topic🐴
"is edelgard literally hitler" the people ask. "is edelgard the great liberator of our time" the people ask. and yet nary a soul asks: "woah that body horror stuff with Edelgard at the end of the Blue Lions route was kinda blink-and-you'll-miss-it but also weirdly hot, can we get some bad ending stuff with that—"

I'm sorry but ever since someone pointed it out I can't stop thinking about it lol:
Seteth on SB: The Gard may be attacking us and driving us from our homes but she must have reasons!
Dimitri on AG: The Gard may be invading our lands but some of her reforms are so admirable!
Shez to The Gard in their supports: Your war might be ruining lives but you probably thought a lot about it and things were kinda bad in Fodlan anyway!
Claude on GW: IF IT'S A FIGHT SHE WANTS IT'S A FIGHT SHE'LL GET I'M NOT BACKING DOWN (with the "THE NERVE" voice line to back it up)
HILARIOUS how out of everyone in the routes, Claude is the one to take the most stout stance against The Gard's war, without anything trying to soften her up as "maybe not that bad you guyz" getting in the way. There's no "well maybe she has her reasons" there's no "well she's doing good here" there's no "well she's doing what she thinks is right" there is ONLY "She is bringing war to my land and I will not tolerate it." Not to overlook Dimitri's stance against her too - it's impressive in its own right - but it's nice to see someone finally not try to give her any slack after she's demonstrably proven she's not deserving of any. It's just a demo so who know what the full game will reveal, but in the meantime... so much for "Claude would totally side with her" lmaooo
Wanted to reach into the screen and RATTLE the Lion man because Dimitri !!!! What are you TALKING about! From what I can tell she kept the nobles where they are; she still has a church, and it's one he doesn't like--surprise surprise, because it's Imperial rule dressed up as religion. It seems like she's done literally nothing different from Three Houses--in fact, she's done more!--and we only have the context of her war without the explanation of her reforms. I'm sorry, but why am I supposed to care that she's reshaped her country and STILL decided she wanted to tear Fódlan a new one. I'm not gonna say she didn't? change Adrestia in an admirable way? Because I don't know what she did. But it's BECAUSE I don't know what she did that I can only stomach Claude's response lol. Like when someone is knocking at your door with the intention to invade the shit out of you, you don't care. You're going to fight them tooth and nail and you're going to make sure they know better than to ever show their face at your border again; that's how you keep your country intact.
Slightly off topic, but was I right to see that Seteth was all "because she established a church she made an enemy of us an not the faith!" My brother in Sothis...a church established by the state? Are we joking? 😭 Why are the writers so intent on giving her leeway when she has none. Really hoping he changes his tune when she comes for his ass when his only crime is being Nabatean.
What also gets me is that Claude is the only one who hasn't been irreversibly antagonized yet; his route starts in defending Myrddin, whereas SB starts PAST Myrddin, and Dimitri already has to take in refugees. And yet, Claude is the one to get scrappy with the Empir lol?? Dimitri does say that he's not going to tolerate the injuring of his people, or the war in general (they kept you intact, my baby 🙏🏻), so I'm curious to see if his appreciation for her reforms comes from the fact that he's dealing with quite the bit of infighting that anything looks better? Because I don't think Faerghus would be any better off for having changed to look like Adrestia.
I'm trying not to be harsh because...demo. but also. I'm so not in the fucking mood to explain away her violent conquest. Here's hoping they don't do that 🙏🏻

Idk if im emotionally ready to play non crimson flower paths
Help
playing silver snow is worth it to give you more appreciation for crimson flower
the other two routes are more or less just silver snow with a blue or yellow coat of paint* so if you're an edelgard fan you don't like, have to play them
* dimitri's route does have some unique story content but claude's route is straight up just silver snow with different characters and a different final boss, which makes it really awkward when edelgard's death scene is just the exact same cutscene from silver snow with none of the context that actually gave it emotional weight lmao. if you want a good story with claude in it get three hopes and play his route imo

Do You have some San Valentin headcanons? 😻
(happy San Valentin btw!)
Happy *looks at the clock* ... day after Valentine's Day, anon!
Hmmm... I have mainly two ideas.
1. Valentine's Day, being a christian-inspired capitalistic modern holiday, doesn't really exist in Obelia. Because of that, Athy is the one that introduces it to the country (would that make her the patroness saint of love?). I think she must have disliked it in her second life, seeing it as just another materialistic holiday, but came to appreciate its good sides in her third life.
Or maybe she just wanted an excuse to eat chocolate without having Lily nagging her about cavities. Yeah, it was probably that...
Athy, being the sweetheart that she is, would most likely gift everyone friendship chocolate. I want to see baby Athy baking Claude-shaped cookies and making them all fucked up totally on purpose. She puts salt on them, and that is on purpose. Claude eats every single one after Felix begs him for one. But surprisingly, he enjoys the fact that the cookies are salty. Baby Athy's revenge plan of giving Claude a stomachache was a total failure...
Eventually, Lucas starts paying attention to the holiday and expects to receive more than the obligatory chocolate. Athy ends up making a special one just for him, under the excuse that now Lucas is forced to gift her something in return for white day.
They are stupid about it for years, until, without realizing it, they are having legitimate dates for the occasion. Imagine being the one that finally asks, "wait, is this a date??". Awkward...
2. Valentine's Day does exist in Obelia.
This is kind of canon, but: Athy pretends to be a couple with Lucas so they get those sweet, sweet 2x1 couples discounts at bakeries and cafés. Athy thought it was a genius idea until Lucas demands her to feed him the chocolate in public. Hilarity ensues?

Day 1 - Sick
A snippet from when Cliff first got sick and some backstory for his parents. Whumptober 2023! I’m using the @ailesswhumptober's prompt list. This story is about my OC Cliff - here’s his profile if you’re so inclined: https://toyhou.se/23741453.cliff.
TWs: Medical talk
Claude Barrows was thirty-two when he met Hana Fujioka. He was eight years the girl's senior and that's how Claude thought of her: a young girl, full of fire and miraculously being published in multiple journals as the primary author despite her young age. She was all work and Claude appreciated that. He also liked how she blushed when he asked her to dinner, simultaneously scoffing at his request. She had walked away without answering his question, only to call him later that night to say yes. From then on, Claude spent what little spare time he had courting her. She blew him off sometimes. She'd take work phone calls during dinner and didn't know how to cook or clean. But Claude didn't mind those things. He proposed to Hana anyways. He suspected Hana's own father's desire for his daughter to marry a doctor had something to do with the yes he received, but he was still happy nonetheless. After all, all of his colleagues at work were married and after being let down before, Claude was willing to take good enough.
When Hana got pregnant, Claude was excited. But Hana didn't want the child. She said she was too busy to raise a kid. So Claude promised her that he would never let the child get in the way of her career, and finally she accepted. They had a little girl, Moira, and Claude loved her so much that he couldn't wait to come home and see her every night, even if she was usually asleep by the time he finished at the hospital. Hana kept publishing papers and staying up late doing research. Claude made sure Moira always had a nanny and tried to go to her school events when he could. Money wasn't a problem, but time was: there was never enough of it. That was why they didn't intend on having a second child. Besides, now in his mid-forties, Claude was too old, he thought. But sometimes, even for the most orderly people in the world, things just happen and this time, they had a boy.
By now, Claude had been promoted to chief attending and was barely ever home. He kept his promise to Hana - he made sure the kids were always taken care of, of course by someone else that he paid. But Hana was older this time - no matter what Claude did, the child took a lot out of her and Claude could tell she resented both him and their son. It made their relationship, which was already only a thing of habit, become even more strained. Cliff was the representation of their failing marriage and therefore Claude found him hard to be around. It didn't help that unlike Moira, who used to fly into his arms and bother him until he was forced to pay attention to her, Cliff was shy and nervous. They never bonded and Claude knew it was his fault. He regretted it, certainly. But he wasn't so willing as to change it on his own.
That was, until he got a call from Moira who seemed on the brink of tears. "Dad, something's wrong with Cliff," she'd told him. "I just have a bad feeling. Please, see him." He couldn't say no to that.
So there he was now, sitting across from his youngest child in his office. Claude was stunned at how sickly Cliff looked. The boy was thin with little trace of the athletic body he'd had in high school. Claude could see he was stifling a constant cough and there were dark shadows under his eyes. "Are you eating?" Claude asked him.
"Plenty," Cliff replied, his voice rough. Claude was unsure if his son was being sarcastic or not.
"You had another stomach ulcer. This time, it ruptured," Claude stated, having read through all of Cliff's medical records beforehand. He couldn't believe that Cliff hadn't told anyone about either hospital visit he'd had. Sure, the two of them weren't close, but this was something so serious that he thought Cliff would have at least told Hana about it. "The first time you had one, you saw a therapist for a while and it helped. Perhaps it'd help again."
"It didn't help back then," Cliff said blankly. "I just said the right things so I could stop going."
"Really?"
"Yes." Cliff was very different from the last time Claude had seen him, though he wasn't sure if it only seemed so sudden because it'd been such a long time since they were last face to face. His son's hair was long and he spoke directly, rather than politely like he'd been taught.
"You've lost twenty pounds since last year," Claude said. At one point it had been even more than that, but it seemed Cliff had gained some of the weight back after his stomach had been repaired. "If you're really eating, that does worry me." No answer. Was Cliff using drugs? Surely not, Claude thought. Although he felt uncomfortable, he began to examine Cliff. They slowly went through everything - eyes, ears, throat. Claude had Cliff lie down so that he could feel his abdomen and noted how Cliff seemed to struggle to sit back up. "Your lymph nodes are swollen," Claude said, frowning. "And your lungs sound awful. Are you using your inhaler?"
"Yes," Cliff said. “Doesn’t help.”
"You’re still studying to be a lawyer, aren’t you? You must be busy.”
"Yes," Cliff said. He was so wary. It made the guilt that was tugging at the back of his mind worse.
"Well, you were always smart," Claude said distractedly, focused on going through potential diagnoses in his head. The symptoms Cliff was having were not normal - neither was the amount of times he'd written down he'd been ill this year on his intake form. It could be nothing - but it could imply something very serious. Certain words popped into his head that usually never phased Claude when he was just working - but felt very different when applied to his own son. "I'd like to take some blood. Actually, a lot of blood," Claude said. He expected Cliff to ask questions, but instead the boy just nodded in agreement. "And we should get a chest x-ray. In the meantime, rest. You really don't seem well." Cliff seemed to laugh a little at that, which worried Claude. But he kept silent like he always did.
"Why are you and mom getting divorced?"
The question startled Claude and he cleared his throat before he answered. "We haven't... Connected for a long time."
“Okay. I might pass out when they draw my blood."
Later that evening, Claude couldn't stop thinking about their meeting. He realized that he didn't really know Cliff at all and it was very likely his fault. It was obvious even to Claude that he'd never been the best father, but he hadn't processed the stark difference between how he'd raised his two children so clearly until now. Moira was unmistakably his daughter, but Cliff... Claude didn't understand their relationship. Truthfully, they didn't have one at all, and that was the problem. He felt anxious and tried to distract himself with other work until he went to bed that night. However, Claude's stress only intensified the next day when some of Cliff's labs came back. The boy was anemic, his immune system was shot and the chest x-ray was suspicious of things Claude hadn’t wanted to consider, but couldn’t ignore now. Moira was right to push Cliff to meet with him, Claude thought, because if she hadn't, he wasn't sure how long Cliff would have waited. He remembered that Cliff never wanted anyone to know when he was sick or hurt, even as a kid. Maybe something else that was his fault.
He called Cliff that afternoon. "Come back tomorrow." It wasn't phrased as a suggestion.
"Uh, okay. Am I dying or something?"
Even though Claude knew the question wasn't completely serious, he couldn't feel much else but panic at that moment.
"Don't eat after midnight."
