From Queen in 3D.
... I like this one – long forgotten until now. It's Freddie and myself in a quiet moment, and I wish I could tell you where it was and what we were talking about. It's a reminder that Freddie played the guitar pretty well. Certainly in the early days he used the guitar as much as the piano to write songs. His way of playing the riff in "Ogre Battle" was something to see, because he never used up-strokes; every one of those fast beats, about 16 to the bar, he hit with a down stroke, so it was an unusually frenetic kind of activity, Freddie playing that stuff on the guitar. Later on, he wrote almost exclusively on the piano. But of course, in the live shows, he always played the guitar in "Crazy Little Thing", just like on the record. That's not me playing acoustic rhythm guitar on the original track – that's Freddie. And he played it very well indeed. As on the piano, he had a unique and inimitable touch.
As for the guitar itself, this is a nice moment, too. That's the Humming Bird, probably my favourite acoustic guitar of all time. Freddie is giving it a workout!
– Brian May

THE UNSUNG WRITING ‘PARTNERSHIP’ OF MERCURY-MAY
I think what you’ve got with Queen is the Lennon-McCartney, the Buckingham-Nicks, the Townsend-Daltrey... You’ve got the two people in Freddie Mercury and Brian May who actually couldn’t really have done it on their own and needed each other — Trevor Dann

this is objectively the funniest picture of queen on stage because
1. what the fuck are they wearing??? roger in frills??? john serving hot dad???
2. what is freddie doing and why is brian just standing there
3. the stage is so big and yet they are SO close to each other
4. no seriously why is brian just looking at him like that
5. there is no song in their entire discography that requires freddie to be doing that much but i love him for it
6. idk the context but i’m guessing they’re not playing live??? rogers drum kit is so tiny you can actually see him behind it
