medieval!prince/knight!garbo!au

its over 3k words.

World building:

The basics: Sorta like old timey medieval with magic, beasts and baddies. Ive recently read through Solo Leveling so grabbing some of my fave things from there. (Mainly the classes of fighters, mages, healers, defense)

The Siebalds

The ruling family over the kingdom in which the story takes place. There's the king, the queen and the seven princes,of which Garland is the youngest. All of Garland’s brothers are known for something, strong swordsman, master class mages, high ranking military or whatever the word is i dont do research.

Garland is the youngest, and least accomplished, and his father has referred to him as, “His most ordinary son.” (As well as, “We were trying for a daughter, but after 7 sons, we got the hint that it’s not meant to be, but I guess having Garland, is like having the daughter we always wanted).

The king tends to just ignore Garland, hoping to one day be surprised with his youngest, but honestly would marry him off to another smaller kingdom in a heartbeat. (It’s an area of contention Which fills Garland with dread at the thought of being forced to marry and sent off.), Garland is resentful towards his father, but tries his best to be a good son, he trains and studies, practices his sword. Sits in on meetings (or whatever they're called) even though he’s well aware it's pointless.

His father pays a retired high ranking knight to train Garland, in hopes that it amounts to something. But even after years of lessons he’s not improving (WHICH WILL 100% be touched on why that is)

His brothers kind of just ignore him, he’s just there. They'll interact with him and say hello, but Garland is left out a lot because he’s not a master swordsman, or a mage, nor does he have the ability to heal, or craft potions.

Enter Boris.

Who decides to become a knight to make better money for the family, alongside Sergei. (Still an orphan, living in a house with the rest of Borg) Prior to this they were both blacksmiths (coincidentally making the weapons they fight with) but between the four of them, were struggling to make ends meet. Boris joins after Sergei gets his first per diem because if they are both bringing that much money, on top of what Yuriy and Ivan bring in, they'll be alright.

It does come with some hardship. Boris is mouthy and not used to the structure and hierarchy, but man can he wield a sword, so a lot of his personality is overlooked (also like sergei is a super likable, tank and they're close so people overlook a LOT, when it comes to Boris and his out of pocket comments and mannerisms).

Boris still does blacksmithing after his knight duties. He’s not a fan of the standard sword that is used, but also having extra money is always good, they never know when something is going to come up and they'll need money.

So, like, how do they get together???

There’s a threat or something that startles the king, an attempted assassination that has the castle on high alert. The king is STRESSED. After the failed assassination of his eldest son that he;s concerned with his weakest, least accomplished, should have been a daughter, son (because if they failed on the eldest, the best bet to take out and destroy morale is Garland)

So the King is walking through an elevated part of the court yard with the commander of the knighthood, about lending one of his knights to sort of chaperon over Garland. And the commander is like i got JUST the guy. He’s dumb as dirt, but put a sword in his hand, and the other person is NOT coming out alive. *pointing down at a silver haired man comedically stabbing the air*

And the king is like??? That guy?

And the commander is like hell yeah that guy. He’s a little silly, (And a pain in the ass, doesnt listen well, but will get the job done) but if he’s with Garland,there wouldnt be a safer place (And then immediately after Boris does something stupid and the King is like this cant be real life this cant be a real knight)

And the kings like okay what about the guy NEXT to Boris, he looks sturdy. Which the commander is like that’s not what you want. He’s a tank, and for defense. Boris is a fighter. That’s the one you want. Trust.

AND SO STARTS THEIR FORCED INTERACTIONS.

BOTH HATE THE WHOLE IDEA OF BEING STUCK TOGETHER. They resent the HELL out of each other.

Garland’s self confidence is at an all time low. He feels like a joke because he;s the only one being treated like a fucking kid, being shadowed.

Boris feels like this is a punishment and hates being confined to the castle, following some lowly prince to and from lessons and classes and meetings, and fuck its hard staying quiet during dinner, which he now has a seat at until the culprits are caught (WHICH IS WHAT HE SHOULD BE DOING, FINDING THEM) He longs for being on the battlefield and raiding. Blood shed.

Boris trailing behind Garland on his way to his swordsmanship or whatever class, and sneering at the old guy there to train Garland. Side eying the “Master” the whole lesson, watching with eyebrow raises and faces at every movement. Snarky comments that has the master having words with Boris. And Garland cant believe that theyre fighting, as if Boris REALLY thinks he’s hot shit to have a say against the retired commander who’s been training Garland for years.

They fight and argue and bicker. Going at it. Boris def challenges Garland and is like if you feel so safe without me, beat me in a sword fight, which garland tries and fails to win.

Garland practicing with his sword by himself and Boris is watching, bored, unamused. And as time passes looks progressively more and more pissed off until he cant contain himself, approaching Garland and kicking his foot, twisting his body, moving Garland’s grip

But the kick has Garland seeing red and is PISSED, and goes to move, but Boris has his arms on Garland;s shoulders. And hisses out “THIS IS THE STANCE YOU SHOULD BE IN. Everything you do is wrong.. Try what you're doing like this.”

ANd that’s when it all comes out that Boris was a blacksmith so he knows how to handle a sword VERY WELL on top of all other weapons he has a proficiency in. and eventually BOris is like “Are you sure this is the weapon for you have you tried anything else? The sword should feel like an extension of your body, not like some *he waves his hands around* thing that youre doing now”(Boris bringing up his master is just doing this for the money; it's obvious to anyone who actually wields a sword. He’s not correcting things. And is just dragging this out for his own monetary gain)

And garland being like this is a VERY expensive weapon. (the sword he practices with)

And Boris is like just because it's expensive doesn't mean it's not the wrong weapon. They end up going to the armory and Garland fucks around with a saber and gavel and an axe before settling on a dagger. And for the first time the two spar and Boris feels some excitement because Garland moves so fluidly with a dagger compared to sword.

(It ends up being a dagger because Garland is a close range fighter, but a VERY close fighter, which makes sense because martial arts etc, just now his fists are sharp.

ANd that night Garland feels VERY funny over the whole day because no one has ever shown this type of interest in him, or taken the time to work with him like Boris did.

And then we progress sometime, when Boris is pulled from shadowing Garland for a raid or battle or something. Garland inquires with his brother, who happens to be running the whole thing about joining up, since he’s gotten stronger since changing weapons, but is told lol no stay home baby bro this is where you belong.

So garland sits at home in the castle and FESTERS. And at this time he realizes just how much his life has changed since Boris has been shadowing him, how lonely things are when Boris is gone. And honestly he hates it. He walks through the castle, goes for a walk through the village, but he is SO bored. And lonely and sits in his room staring out the window down at the garden. Looking forlornly.

HIs mother stops by commenting it's so quiet around the castle when the knighthood is out raiding. He mentions how she can't wait for his brother to return with their spoils and that theyre planning a big feast upon the knight's return. And Garland just rolls his eyes, because this is the only time she ever comes and visits, when his brothers are out, and the king is focused on it.

They dont return that night but the next morning, they won but are a little worse for the wear. And Garland tries not to be too giddy when he goes looking for Boris, but he can’t find his shadow. (who ends up being in the infirmary. He’s fine-ish just getting a check up but the healer.)

Scar

But in THIS AU this is where Boris gets his scar.

And the thing that confuses Garland is HOW did it scar, but then, where the fuck was his helmet? And Boris, just laughs, because if Garland thought he looked bad, he should see the other guy.

But anywho. The weapon he was scarred with had magic/enchanted/poison in it, so the healer did what the could, but unfortunately it left a scar, which Boris is indifferent about, he thinks it makes him look cool.

And Garland’s like, okay yeah that makes sense.

And Boris is like oh and the healer was one of your brothers by the way.

Which does not make the situation any worse or better, but it's meant as a distraction.

That's nice, but that doesn't explain how your helmet got off your head, or how something managed to pierce metal to injure you.

And Boris lets out a laugh, rubbing the back of his neck, and is like lets not dwell on the past.

How did you lose your helmet?

And Boris sighs, “I took it off.”

“You took it off?”

“Yeah because they fucking sucked.” And yeah Boris ripped his helmet off and exclaimed to the enemy you cant be fucking serious this??? This is the best you got? Why am I even carrying all this extra weight? You guys aint shit”

And the whole thing fucking pisses Garland off, because how could Boris be that fucking stupid. Which he says as much to Boris. Does Boris even realize how upset he’d be if something happened?

And then Garland freezes. Because there’s more he wants to say, but he’s hearing what he’s saying and its weird feels too… raw. So he back tracks, that he needs an actual weapons master to continue teaching him, because one day Garland’s gonna be next to him on the field. And how does he ever plan to find a wife if he loses a limb? He’s lucky its just a scar and he still looks handsome.

(Which is the first time Boris has gotten a compliment from Garland like this, and… Garland thinks he’s handsome?)

The Catalyst

The spy is found, so the whole kingdom is lead to believe. Theyre executed and a celebration is in order. THere is an overwhelmingly good mood throughout the great hall. Everyone is well dressed and manicured. The knights are dressed in modest attire. Not a weapon in sight.

The whole thing is so bright and everyone is so spirited over the events. Finally they can relax. Finally Boris’ roll as Garland’s shadow will come to an end.

It leaves a bitter taste in Garland’s mouth and he nurses the same cup of mead the whole night, not feeling at all excited over the spy being found. Sure its great everyone whos been on edge can finally relax. BUt he feels… empty.

He sighs into his cup and makes small talk, looking around the room, eyes looking for… something. He;s not sure what it is, but he cant find it. Another sigh. He’s making conversation with… someone. He’s not sure he's ever spoken to, or seen, but he sees a lot of people in his day to day.

“Where’s your shadow?”

Garland shrugs, “Not sure. But that’s probably over now.”

“Seems a little premature.” His tone changes, but garland is too out of it to notice.

Garland shrugs again, looking down at the ground. “I don't think so, if the threat is gone-

“Who said the threat is gone?” And everything moves so fast. One minute he's half heartedly talking to ~whoever~ and the next minute there’s a knife to his neck, blade pressed against his skin, and sharp enough that if he breathes too deeply it's sure to cut skin.

There’s gasping and more chaos and people running to try and get out, just in case they;re next.

And Garland knows this is it. He's resolved to it. What a plot twist. There’s no way anyone could get to him in time before this assailant slits his throat. It’s a painless death, he thinks, as he feels the knife leave his throat.

Turns out somehow, in that time, in typical shonen fashion, Boris is able to separate the two, and slash the assailants neck (how the tables have tabled)

And Boris falling to his knees in front of Garland. Grabbing onto his trembling hand, pressing it to his cheek. He apologizes for not noticing soon, he should have stayed closer to his side. Should this should of that.

And now Garland is getting nervous out, because everyone is looking at the two of them, pulling Boris out of the main hall and down a side hallway to an empty corridor.

Telling him he can't just get on his knees like that he didn't fail at his job everything is fine.

And boris is like don't get it. I was so scared I wasnt going to make it in time.

And garland still doesnt get it, but is like “If i died the king wouldnt have blamed you, you werent even on duty, and where were you even hiding a weapon lol”

Garland, after all this time shadowing you, and hanging out. After everything, I can't lose you. you've been ingrained into me.

And silence. Because now it dawns on garland that oh

And then a very emotional kiss.

With them being silly afterwards and getting into an argument because that’s so on brand for these two. Be cute and sweet for a minute and then annoying the shit out of each other.

Found out

Very much late into Them being VERY CLOSE ™ and hooking up, is them getting caught by Garland’s father no less.The King, opens the door, see’s his most ordinary son on top of one of his knight’s lap.Closes the door immediately. It’s silent as the two pull apart from one another, and five minutes later, theres a knock on the door. The two are as far away from each other as possible. Not looking at each other but Garland is red.

The king is VERY indifferent as he speaks to his son, inviting him to the raid that’s in a week. He looks over at Boris, who looks just as indifferent back, as if a challenge to fucking say something, “I’ve heard since you’ve adopted using a dagger, you have made vast improvements. The monsters that should be encountered should be easy to defeat with close range fighting.”

The king turns towards Boris, “Kuznetsov, I trust you will continue to watch over my son, even on the battle field?”

Boris gets to his feet and bows, “Of course your highness, I would give up my life to save his.”

“Good good. Make sure you have Rybakov with you.”

“As you wish, your highness.”

The kings eye looks back at his son and then back to boris, and finally his son. “Carry on with.. Yourselves.”

And once the door is closed and the kings footsteps retreat away from Garland’s room, boris’ laughter booms out, and Garland throws a pillow at him.

“Your dad’s something fucking else, man.”

“Shut up.”

“He comes in here.” Boris starts, while crossing the room and sitting down next to Garland, pulling Garland on top of him, “Sees his youngest son, mounting the knight assigned to shadow and protect him , and doesn’t say a word.” He laughs again. “Instead he comes back and invites you to raid with us, which by the way babe, congrats.”

“I fucking hate you.”

“Yeah okay.”

Boris takes that as an okay to Them ™ and stays the night, sleeping next to garland.

Boris going home the day after and the house all being like where the FUCK have you been. And Sergei is more concerned than anyone, because did something happen after he left? That he was held to stay at the castle overnight.

“Boris, we all know youre an idiot, but this is the dumbest fucking thing you have ever done.”

“Do you have a death wish?”

They all go back and forth. Yuriy and Sergei admonish him for doing something so stupid. Ivan is amused. While Boris doesn't see it as a big deal and jokes around about it.

Eventually the king does talk to Garland about what he;s witnessed. It's just the two of them in the library, Garland collecting notes and data on the monsters that are present where the next raid (THAT HES EVEN INVITED TO) is located.

“Garland,” He pauses, “We need to talk about that day.”

The room suddenly goes cold. Garland feels like the blood drains out of his body. His throat feels like something is lodged in it, but he nods looking at his father.

The king sighs, “I don’t. Garland. I- How did- When did-” He exhales, “Just because I said you were basically like a daughter to your mother and I, didn’t mean you had to do this.”

Garland freezes, “What?”

“That’s not right.” He father huffs, “Im not sure how to talk about this. I’ve been thinking about it, playing out scenarios in my head. So maybe let’s get this to the point. You know being the seventh son there is no chance of you ascending to the throne when I abdicate, or worse case die.”

Garland nods.

“And the plan was to marry you off to another kingdom that is heirless, there were several options we were going to start looking into. Many families with all daughters and no sons.”

Garland swallows, dread crawling up the back of his throat. Fuck here it is. He’s going to send me off. He’s made the choice already to get me out of here, since i've brought disowner-

“But. Based on what I observed, that’s not a good idea. So I want to ask you this time, what do you want? You’re finally joining us on raids, and maybe the battlefield next time it's needed. You’ve been in high spirits, which is why I have let you keep your shadow even though it's no longer necessary.”

“What I want?”

“Yes Garland, I’m giving you a choice. We can start looking at future brides, or you can continue to do what you're doing, unmarried.”

“You’re okay with that? With Boris and I?”

THe king takes a deep breath, rubbing his temples, “Garland, less words. Your brothers will bring us many future princes and princesses. You not reproducing and settling down is not going to change that. I’m asking if you want the opportunity to marry into Kingship in another kingdom, or if you wish to stay here and join the knight order? What you do outside of that is up to you. Kuznetsov will remain a shadow, until i deem it unnecessary.”

“And when will that be?”

“Garland,” He growls, “Yes you want to marry, or no, you want to join the knight order.”

“I’d like to join the knight order.”

And okay they still bicker and fight because at their next raid Boris babies THE SHIT outta Garland which pisses Garland off to no end especially when they're fighting in the same raid and Boris swoops in to fight whatever beast Garland is about to kill. And Garland gets PISSED that Boris would steal his kill and then have the audacity to blow a kiss at him.

And this happens often that Boris just poofs into his space to ensure that his “precious pookie does not get hurt” (they 100% get into it with each other on the field. And sergei, the tank that he is, is just like guys please can this take place after i do have a real job other than shielding you while you work out your problems)

The other knights finally taking garland seriously. While at the start of this whole au, they think he’s a joke, or they feel bad for him, since he is so ordinary. But now after a weapon change and sparring with someone who actually wants to see garland get better??? And he’s joining them on the field? Respect. (tho yeah probably some mild homophobia, but who is going to say something to royalty, and two its good to keep boris, and by extension sergei on their good side)

So I got the main guys of the 141st done, but what about other CoD characters? Do they have dragons? Abso-fucking-lutely! And I'm gonna continue this little series with a recently found favorite and his dragon:

König and Amsel

König

1. König is of course a title. For the sake of this AU his name is Kaleb (I refuse to call him Kilgore because that sounds WAY too extra/on the nose).

2. He is, of course, king of his own kingdom, called Edren, which borders Athana to the north.

3. He became king at fifteen, after his father was killed by an assassin from another kingdom. At the time he was considered too young to rule, but he was a fast learner and took to heart both the words of his advisors and the needs of his people.

4. Kaleb is betrothed to Princess Lyra of Athana, and has been since they were both children. There's a five year age gap between the two, and they alternated visiting each other's kingdoms during the summer months, so as to not interrupt either of their studies, until they were both adults.

5. He does deeply love Lyra, but admits he's jealous of her close connection with the Ghost of Dragon's Keep...

6. Claimed Amsel at the age of seventeen, which actually angered a lot of the common people in Athana, as they saw Amsel "The Black Bird" as their primary protector.

7. Has impeccable aim with a crossbow, on both dragon and horseback.

8. Has been teaching Lyra his language. He's basically like her own version of duolingo.

9. While a good ruler, Kaleb is a jealous man. He sees Simon as competition for his betrothed, and does what he can to keep Lyra from him while he's in Athana.

10. Let's just say hell has no fury like a giant scorned. A giant who also happens to have the second largest dragon in existence at his disposal...

Amsel

1. Known as the Black Bird to the commoners of Athana, Amsel is the second largest dragon in the known world. Only his mother Nova is bigger than him.

2. Is the brother of Lyra's dragon, Talaera. The two were nest mates and are still close. Their riders are betrothed but that doesn't mean they'll mate. Dragons are cool, but incest isn't, even among them.

3. His scales are a deep purple that they look almost black, hence the name Black Bird. His flames are deep violet with veins of black and red.

4. He can eat cattle and other livestock whole, and often does. This actually angers a lot of the farmers in Edren, who've been calling for Amsel to be locked up.

5. Is protective of his sister and family, as well as his Rider. Amsel has a relatively nasty temper towards anyone who dares to think of harming them.

6. Amsel tolerates humans. He doesn't necessarily like them, but he tries not to harm them either. They're like insects to him: sometimes fascinating, other times a pest.

7. Refuses to wear a saddle as he finds them binding. Also has a deep hatred of chains. Do not bring a chain anywhere near Amsel, as he will melt it.

8. Like his Rider sees Simon, Amsel sees Brightfire as a threat rather than competition. He believes Talaera deserves better, but Tala is stubborn in that regard.

9. He has defective muscles in his throat, so rather than roaring he screeches. His voice is a little higher pitched than one would expect (kinda like his Rider...).

10. Has no desire to be used as a weapon to hurt people, fearing he'll become as notorious as his father, Daharak the Hellborn, who is now seen as a force of evil.

And that's it for these two! I really hope you guys liked it! I have a few more characters for this AU already made (Laswell, Graves, and, because I actually do love her, Farrah). I don't know if I'll do anyone else from the game after that. If the interest is there I might take suggestions and include others in this AU. I'd like to incorporate Alejandro and Rudolfo, possibly even Valeria and even Makarov into this at some point. Let me know what you guys think!

Questions about OCs and stuff

Gonna fill this one out myself, because it looked fun!

OC questions:

* Who was your first ever OC? Do you still “use” them? How have they evolved over time?

Oreana was my first ever OC, and yes I do! She evolved from me wanting to write myself in with my favorite fixations to becoming her own actual character.

I could tell as a character she wanted to have the princess title removed, but I refused since I wanted that to be another obstacle for her. XD

2. Who is your newest OC? Why did you make them?

Asther Thyme, my goat OC was one I bought on toyhouse, but newest one made by me is Demiurge turned into a jackal.

I bought the goat because I am trying to rethink about this old idea of mine I wrote years ago as a kid that had more furries in it than humans. Demiurge turning into a jackal was just originally for fun but he stayed after awhile.

3. Biggest self-insert OC?

Oreana. XD; While she's come a long ass way since then, I still feel the parts of me that are in her.

4.What kind of music do your OCs listen to?

There's too many to list. Oreana just likes anything with a good beat, and Ignatius and Demiurge prefer instrumental.

5. What are some of your OCs biggest fears?

Oreana: being used again Ignatius: enduring loss again Demiurge: the loss of himself

Demona: never returning home

Cheshire: Demiurge ever getting his Creator's love when he feels he doesn't deserve it.

6. Do you have any OCs without stories? Will you ever create one for them?

Yuna, Asther, Elasha, and Haruka. Their Toyhouse bios aren't even filled in yet, because I don't know what to do. XD;

And yes, they will! I just have to get my ideas all together first.

7. What are your favourite relationships between your OCs? (romantic or platonic!)

Romantic, mainly because of the lack of love in my life. XD;

8. Do you have any OC family trees?

Oreana does have parents and 2 brothers—as well as an ancestor I can't get into because that's spoilery, and Ignatius has a twin brother.

9. Favourite OC?

It bounces from Oreana, Ignatius, to Demiurge.

10. OC you most struggled to make?

Ignatius. In fact, he went through a redesign about a year—er two years—ago. He originally was just going to look very much like a guy from YYH I loved but a naga, till I decided to make him more like an amalgamation of characters and ideas I loved. Doing that was so much so for the better. As I don't have to feel fixated on the one canon character to be fixated on him.

Fanfic questions:

11. * Sum up one or more of your wips!

Werewolf professor in a fantasy styled Victorian London looks to try and quell the fear over the werewolf curse. It's a commission so I can't really plop too much of it down.

12. Which story took the most research?

Anything from Assassin's Creed. Especially the Victorian London ones regarding brothels, tuberculosis, opium dens, and factories.

Don't get me started on the sex stuff... since that was considered 'prudish', it feels nearly lost to time.

13. Which story has the most lore?

Uuuh... A Love Most Profound and or The Demon King of the Desert, depending what you mean. Both spoke of their beliefs and even had rough outlines of their worlds.

14. Current word count of all your main wips?

I don't think I have any active yet since I'm on vacation.

15. How many projects do you have going on right now? Are there any that you doubt you’ll ever finish?

I am not sure. I would like to get through all of these, but it's doubtful.

16. What was you first major project? How far along is it?

I guess The Devil's Contract would be considered that. And it's done now at 50 chapters. I was quite happy to have it finished.

17. What are some tropes and character dynamics found in your wips?

Slow burn, soulmates, and just romantic stuff.

18. Describe the setting of one or more of your wips

Horror fantasy of who is doing what and what is happening under the OC's nose, Victorian werewolf fantasy, and murder fantasy with a bit of reincarnation? I guess we'll say.

19. What are some things that inspired your stories? Real events? Maybe a dream?

Dreams more than anything, and if not those, anything I play or watch. Even The Demon King had elements of LOZ in it.

20. What story are you the proudest of? Why?

The Demon King of the Desert. It helped me come to terms with a bit more online trauma, and it seemed to touch a few folks. So I'm happy with it.

About me questions:

21. * When did you start considering yourself a writer/artist?

Artist, I always felt I was one. In fact, I was quite upset when I got online and people preferred my writing over my art. XD But I came to terms with it after awhile. Heck, I realize when I blend the two, people enjoy both.

Writing started to happen the more I wrote stories on websites, and folks came to love them or use them as a means to shoulder through a tough time in their life.

22. What are all the “kinds” of writing/art you do? (short stories, poetry, screenplays, digital, painting, clay, etc.)

I do short stories, poetry, digital art, traditional art too at some points—and sing as well as (kind of) play the piano.

23. Are you in any writer/artist groups? (Ex: discord server!)

Sadly, not really. I get nervous to spread my works to places I'm not comfortable in. But I've heard joining discord servers is a good idea.

Fantasy and or romance. I prefer to read fantasy over reading romance. I only write romance because of the trauma in my life.

King Owen Stuart's Surviving Half Brothers (fan-concept)

A small overview of a fun concept that Owen had 3 surviving half brothers after the conflict for the throne. These four remained in the castle specifically because they all possessed magical abilities.

Anthony Leigh

Appearance: Black Hair, Green eyes, often wears dark blue, violet, and white.

The youngest of the four princes that remained in the castle prior to the former King's death. About 3-4 years younger than Owen.

Possessed Adequate Water Magic.

Is the only half sibling Owen is quite fond of and close to despite everything that had occurred.

Still an avid supporter of King Owen.

Has two daughters.

Works closely with the developmental part of the kingdom including overseeing construction and activities around the outer edges of the kingdom.

Quite a bookworm.

Took over his mother's family estate after Owen was crowned.

Gammon Marlon

Appearance: Dark hair that seems to be tinted purple in sunlight. Purple eyes. Wears black, dark brown, and purples most often.

The second oldest of the four princes, who remained in the castle prior to the former King's death. Is older than Owen by 3 years.

Possesses Adequate Earth Magic.

While he remains near the northwest part of the kingdom after taking over the family estate. He and Owen have a rocky relationship at best.

Owen does not trust Gammon and Gammon is not surprised by the suspicion.

Extremely sly and underhanded, famous among nobles in his youth (and some in current day) for his intellect and manipulation.

Does not have a fiance nor any heirs. Claims the idea was soured for him due to how much the former king played around and all the trouble that came from it.

Was one of the most adamant candidates for the throne and most active in trying to claim it.

Originally believed Owen was the “most useful” of all three of his brothers.

Claims that Alan has a strong resemblance to Owen.

Held Rivet

Appearance: Light Brown hair and red eyes. Often wears brown, dark red, and dark green.

The oldest of the four princes remaining in the castle prior to the former King's death. A solid 6-7 years older than Owen.

Extremely violent and believes strength can solve most things.

Did not have the strongest support to become king despite his desire to be king.

Possesses Weak Fire Magic.

Was exiled prior to Owen's coronation due to accusations of trying to assassinate Owen's wife and soon to be queen, Solaris.

Denied such accusations, but was exiled due to lack of support.

Supposedly had a crush on Solaris and tried to court her multiple times.

Constantly butted heads with Gammon Marlon, his younger half brother, due to their stark differences in approach to things.

Disliked Owen because he was seemingly "weak" but had more favor than him.

Dismissed Anthony due to him viewing the youngest as a brat.

Not seen since his exile.

Had an extreme dislike for the former king.

#VERSE VIII || Like Kintsugi We Mended Our Broken Pieces Together With Silver & Gold { BODYGUARD AU / prodigls }

Warning: The following verse summary will contain dark & triggering subject matter, including but not limited to — human experimentation, medical abuse, child abuse, CSA, mental illness related subjects ( such as depression, ptsd, self harm / suicidal ideation, eating disorders ), murder, torture, human trafficking, sexual assault, & more. This verse is free for anyone to write with me in, but it is ship exclusive with @nonhumen's Dazai, as they are married & in a mutually exclusive / monogamous relationship. Any other Dazais who would like to interact may, but it will be treated as a crossover or as though Chuuya is meeting a different universe's Dazai. It all began when Chuuya forced Dazai to come with him to hang out with the Flags one day. Looking back on it, he can't even remember why he was forcing his partner to join him, they were barely sixteen & didn't even really like each other all that much, together only because Mori insisted on it, Chuuya being Dazai’s 24/7 glorified suicide watch & Dazsi being Chuuya’s ability suppressant. But that one decision to drag Dazai out with him changed the course of everyone's lives forever.

Honestly, he wasn't really expecting them to hit it off as well as they did. Chuuya never understood why people avoided Dazai like the plague in the Mafia, why all of the harsh & judgmental nicknames for a kid — a slightly fucked up kid, sure, but still just a kid like himself. Black wraith of the Port Mafia? Demon prodigy? Not human? Who the hell talks about an orphaned teenager that way? Dazai had previously shot down an invitation to join the Flags almost a year ago when they'd both officially become Port Mafia members, but it didn't stop Piano Man from welcoming him to their weekly hang out anyways. Someone, probably Albatross, managed to goad Dazai into joining a game of pool. He was crushed by them... until the next round where, having memorized all of their techniques by observing them, he learns how to play with the same calculating finesse he does everything else. It became a running joke to try to get Dazai to look away whenever they came up with a new strategy so he wouldn't be able to use it against them next turn.

After that, Piano Man’s gentle encouragement physically dragging Dazai out of his shipping container death trap of a home would lure Dazai into their regular game nights.

Soon enough, Dazai was the newest unofficial member of their little group. To the point where he didn't tattle on them for leaking information about Chuuya's origins to him before he reached Executive status. He especially seemed to gravitate towards Lippmann & Iceman, bonding over the former with their unknowingly similar childhoods with busy upper class parents who placed enormous pressures on them from a young age, & the latter because of his calm, cool & non intrusive nature, sometimes choosing to skip the games & just sit at the bar with Iceman to drink. Albatross loved getting a rise out of Dazai like a super annoying brother, but Doc kept his distance, perhaps sensing Dazai's unease with those relating to a medical profession. He & Iceman would be the first one to clue into the fact that Dazai was struggling with an active Pavinal ( a prescription only, morphine-based painkiller that is not supposed to be given to minors ) addiction.

A couple of months after the hangouts became regular, Dazai was tipped off to the fact that they were being watched. He quickly discovered the identity of their stalker was Verlaine, international King of Assassins, & the supposedly dead partner of Arthur Rimbaud, who was presently in a coma. Based on what he could find out about the man, he realized he was most likely coming for Chuuya, & a plan was formed. Lippmann's connections made it easy to procure a top tier makeup & special effects team who could actively fake the deaths of five people simultaneously, while they were secretly being protected by an Ability user with the power to slow time down for specific people just long enough the Flags were able to avoid the massacre while fooling Verlaine &, unfortunately necessary for the plan, Chuuya. In his grief he hunted Verlaine down mercilessly but was tricked & captured by Professor N, a lead scientist for the now defunct branch of government responsible for the Arahabaki Project, who claimed to be Chuuya's 'father'. After ruthlessly killing Chuuya's clone right in front of him, declaring that he didn't need it because he had the real thing now, he proceeded to shoot Chuuya several times, hang him in his lab by the barbed wire wrapped around his wrists & impale him in the gunshot wounds with metal spikes while electrocuting him & drugging him with Midazolam in an effort to erase his memories & personality so he could restart the project. Verlaine rescued him from N's merciless torture & tried to goad Chuuya into killing him. Believing Verlaine had murdered his friends in cold blood, Chuuya chose to avenge them rather than himself & initiated another fight with his older brother, although he was also attacked by the reanimated skeleton of his dead clone, horrifying both him & Verlaine.

In the end, Chuuya's grief prompted him to use Corruption for the very first time to stop Verlaine from destroying Japan after his own singularity, Demonic Beast Guivre, was involuntarily released by him due to N manipulating his top secret programming. He defeated him, nearly dying himself in the process & sacrificing any chance he had at recovering his childhood memories. Meanwhile, Rimbaud awoke from his coma shortly following the laboratory incident & though greatly weakened, went searching for Verlaine when he heard what had happened. If N had his notes, that meant he had the power to kill Guivre, which would also kill his partner, & he could not allow that. Using the technology that was hidden in the secondary laboratory location & what was left of the Arahabaki cells originally implanted in Chuuya, Rimbaud combined it with the secondary Ability of his Illuminations to create a new singularity, untainted by Guivre. It weakened his own powers a bit, but he considered it a worthy sacrifice. Then he went searching for his thought-dead partner, finding him just as his heart was about to give out, having used up every ounce of energy he had. He had a short conversation with Verlaine, who seemed to be under the impression he was a ghost or an after image; the Port Mafia had falsified Rimbaud's death records to prevent any French intelligence from trying to cause trouble. Finally, Rimbaud implanted the new singularity he created.

When Chuuya woke up in the infirmary, it was to all his friends standing around him. He thought he was hallucinating at first, & when he realized that was not the case, he broke down crying in relief. Upon seeing Dazai standing in the corner he demanded the other boy come over, knowing this was his doing. Expecting to be punched by the angry redhead, Chuuya shocked him speechless for a moment by hugging Dazai, though he quickly recovered enough to hide the reaction by whining that his dog wouldn't heel. Chuuya began training with Verlaine to become better at using his Ability, & the two slowly came to an understanding that they did share a lot of similarities... but also a lot of differences in the way they viewed the world. The result was an amicable if slightly awkward connection to the closest thing to a biological 'family' either had. Over the next several months, Dazai & Chuuya gained infamy in the criminal underworld as Double Black, a chaotic duo of devastating rivals competing to be the next Port Mafia Executive, who took down every enemy that stood against them with their combined power. In the end Chuuya was promoted first, but Dazai quickly paid him back by stealing his title of Youngest Port Mafia Executive by being less than three months younger than he was. The two began to almost look forward to partnering together. Unfortunately, Corruption came with unforeseen consequences for Chuuya, mostly in the form of health issues. He'd always had a baseline temperature & resting heart rate that would send most people speeding towards the nearest ER, but now he had a greatly increased appetite, more temperamental outbursts, hypoglycaemia when over using his Ability, & his hair began growing like crazy to the point he needed to cut it at least once a month or it would be down to his lower back.

Because of this, Chuuya's caloric requirements went up significantly per day, & especially before a predicted Corruption usage & following one, he needed to eat a lot. He was burning calories faster than an Olympic level athlete. With his increased energy output & dietary requirements came bigger meals... & then the comments from people who didn't understand how his Ability was affecting him. "Eating for two kid?", "Trying to bulk up, Chuuya-kun?", "Hungrier than usual today, Sir?" Along with pre-existing self esteem & identity issues, Chuuya found himself cutting down on the portions he ate in front of other people. First eating smaller meals, then avoiding eating where others could see him at all. He tried to maintain a healthy diet & found himself fixated on things like organic food, non GMO, … then he he started developing Orthorexia. But when people still continued to comment on his body & appearance, the 'healthy eating' kick quickly turned dangerous. He began thinking it wasn't enough, he wasn't enough. He was too small, too short & non muscular but also thinking he weighed too much for such a small, runty body. He began to skip meals entirely. After getting lightheaded in front of Mori & Kouyou, he was warned to make sure he was eating properly &, if he was having trouble finding time for proper meals, to at least have a protein drink or a soda when his energy got low. He didn't listen. He kept pushing himself to eat less & less... & when the hunger pains got to be too much he would eat as much as he could to stop the gnawing pain in his stomach, only to ‘erase’ it in shame of what he’d don’t. At that point the calorie restricting developed into full blown Anorexia ( binging / purging subtype ). His friends suspected, but no one knew for sure. On top of feeling worse & worse about himself, the now seventeen year old was missing Dazai, who had been spending less time with the Flags after making a couple of new friends who he liked to hang out with at the bar. Because of these factors, Dazai was, for once, oblivious to the situation going on with his partner, both with his health & his jealousy of him spending so much less time with him. Until a situation in which Chuuya used Corruption a mission, but only had managed to choke down about half of the estimated calories he would need to minimize the damage. The pair were about to leave the mission site when Chuuya suddenly stumbled & collapsed, vomiting blood profusely & going into a violent seizure, sending his partner into a panic.

What came to light next horrified each & every person that was close to Chuuya.

He was 5'3" & only 88lbs ( nearly 34lbs underweight ), with significant scarring in his throat & knuckles & moderate Corruption-induced organ damage to show that he had not only been starving himself, but inducing vomiting after binge eating to alleviate the hunger pains. Considering Mori had made it clear from the beginning of their partnership that Chuuya & Dazai were to keep each other alive & report any serious injury / illness / unhealthy activity to him that could compromise their work, he indirectly blamed Dazai for allowing Chuuya to get this bad, & after humiliating Chuuya to the point of tears by forcing him to undress & weigh himself in front of them to 'prove' that he 'wasn't that sick' ( something Chuuya insistently claimed at the beginning of his recovery ), Mori put Dazai in charge of getting Chuuya back to his pre-ED weight & suspended Chuuya from all Mafia activity effective immediately, until he could get back to a weight that wouldn't actively place his life in danger. In the end, Dazai ended up living with Chuuya for several months, helping him buy food, clear his apartment of anything that would be relapse-triggering. It was hard, it was painful Chuuya screamed & cussed him out & even attacked him once or twice but Dazai refused to budge an inch... & in the end, Chuuya managed to recover, he was 130lbs by the time he was permitted to return to work, 135lbs by the time he reached 18.

Which was approximately when everything went to Hell in a handbasket.

After making the decision to remain with Dazai following his murder of Ougai Mori, Chuuya & the Flags did what they could for damage control. As it turned out, it wasn't needed. There was a lot of discontent in the Port Mafia with the way Mori ran things. Dazai was ruthlessly efficient. They started out fearing him but, towards the end of the first year, they respected him as well. Chuuya gave up his role as heading the Mafia's black market jewel trade to become Dazai's personal bodyguard & a personal assistant of sorts as well as his second in command should he ever be unable to do his job as Boss. Kouyou & Hirotsu were finally given permission to retire & the Flags were immediately promoted to Executives: Iceman became the head of the Port Mafia's security; Lippmann retained his position as their communications liaison, Piano Man managing the creation of counterfeit money, the jewel trade & the Mafia's financials in addition to taking care of their domestic enemies, Doc began heading his own handpicked medical staff for the infirmary floors of the Port Mafia HQ, having gained Dazai's complete trust after helping him detox from his Pavinal addiction & being the only one to ever read the extensive medical files Mori had collected on him; & Albatross was in charge of the illegal automotive black market & as well as top priority transport matters for Port Mafia; he regularly maintains & upgrades their personal vehicles as well, checking them for signs of tampering, etc.

At the age of 19, Chuuya & Albatross attempted to go on a date & even shared a kiss together, but found the situation to be extremely awkward & akin to kissing a sibling, so they chose not to pursue a relationship despite Chuuya's old crush on him when he was barely 16. The truth was, he didn't want to date Albatross, because he was head over heels in love with his best friend, his partner. They wasted so much time not knowing how the other felt, not being sure how they themselves felt, that by the time the truth came out & they finally had their first kiss.. all they could do was laugh about how stupid they had been all these years. Being together hardly felt different from just being partners, except with kissing now. Lots of kissing. They went up engaged before the end of the year after a long discussion about the ramifications, the illegality of gay marriage in Japan, & Dazai's ever present demons that still try to urge him to take his own life, even when he's at the happiest he's ever felt in his life. In the end, they decide it's worth it. They're never going to want anybody else, after all, regardless of how long they have together, be it six months or sixty years.

He ends up proposing to Dazai on the Rialto Bridge at sunset, in Venice, after a business trip where he took Dazai on a tour of the city. Chuuya proposed with custom made rings of ultra durable tungsten, inspired by the Japanese art of Kintsugi, or using gold lacquer to make beautiful something that was broken.

Unfortunately, right around the time they return is when N — who everyone thought had been killed by Guivre — made a reappearance. He contacted Chuuya in the middle of the night & threatened to trigger Corruption remotely in him & kill his loved ones unless he met with him, effectively allowing himself to be captured by the mad scientist. By the time Dazai & the Flags realized he was missing & not merely late, the 19-year-old had been brutally tortured by his creator, cut up & interrogated, even branding him on the back of the neck with the same barcode tattoo Chuuya had as a child & burned off three years ago in an effort to reclaim his autonomy. He showed Dazai live feed of Chuuya being horribly electrocuted, threatening him into handing over Rimbaud's Arahabaki files so he could continue the work he claims 'cost him everything'. Dazai quickly deduced where Chuuya was being kept based on the footage & agreed to meet N on the Yokohama Bay Bridge. N met them with Chuuya at gunpoint &, after Dazai handed the files over to N, he attempts to shoot them both. Dazai tackles N off the bridge into the cargo ship below, causing the scientist to break nearly every bone in his body from the fall. Dazai then burns the Arahabaki files right in front of him, content to let the two of them burn to death with them, until N reveals that he wasn't missing all of the files... & up on the bridge, Chuuya's Corruption is involuntarily activated, effortlessly defeating his friends. Without Guivre, even Verlaine can only just hold his own against his little brother. Dazai leaves N to slowly die in agony while he gets back up top & manages to save Chuuya from doing something he'd never forgive himself for, like killing their family.

The incident with N brought back a lot of childhood trauma for Chuuya regarding his experimentation & torture. The barcode makes him breakdown, & he has to be restrained from cutting it off with a scalpel because Doc warned it would need surgery to remove & fix, that cutting into scar tissue like that was extremely dangerous. Chuuya does eventually get it removed & the scar tissue covered up with a tattoo. As a result of N's work, Chuuya's body ends up rejecting Arahabaki &, in a graphic & horrifying display, the deity rips its way out of Chuuya's body, acting exceedingly confused, angry, petulant & overall childlike while Chuuya just barely survives the split, though as they learn they are still connected. Arahabaki, in fact, is connected to both Chuuya & Verlaine due to its cells being infused with their bodies. They do grow to care for each other, & Arahabaki ends up being a bit of a wild card for Dazai, albeit a powerful one, that he tries & fails to keep under control on a regular basis.

Chuuya & Dazai end up getting married on September 23rd, at twenty years old, coinciding with the Tsukimi Autumn moon-viewing festival, dancing with utterly lovestruck expressions on their faces.

After their marriage is a blissful few months, including their first Christmas as a couple followed by a spring honeymoon to several locations neither had been so that they could explore them together. Unfortunately, the peace was inevitably going to be broken at some point. Despite the amicable relationships Dazai had managed to forge with the ADA & SDUP, there were other people to do business with, including, as it turns out, politically aligned business owners from the North... former associates of the father of Shuuji Tsushima, a name which should have remained dead & buried 8 years ago.

Neither of them realized who they were meeting with until Dazai saw one man's face & recognized it. A feeling which was returned. By the time they concluded their meeting, Dazai knew for a fact that he'd been recognized. Fortunately, sensing his husband's terror ( though not knowing the reason for it at the time ), Chuuya bugged them as they left, & the ensuing conversation only confirmed his fears. Not only did the man, Matsuda, know who he was, he intended to use the information to blackmail Dazai into allowing him control of the pharmaceutical trade in their region, & to reopen the human trafficking posts Dazai had shut down over two years ago. After a few two many crude comments to his business associate about wanting to borrow Chuuya as part of their deal, Dazai snapped & called upon the Flags to work on damage control, to keep the information from spreading. He sent Chuuya to personally watch Gen'emon Tsushima. With a little help from Arahabaki while shapeshifted into Chuuya, they managed to capture Matsuda & persuade his business partner into turning over the company assents to him in exchange for freeing him from under Matsuda's thumb & providing urgent medical care for his sick daughter.

As they were wrapping things up, Dazai informed Chuuya he could return home.

Unfortunately, a few hours later, Arahabaki was struck with a sudden pain & began bleeding from his head & chest out of nowhere, a sign Chuuya had been injured. Grabbing Dazai & dragging him through a portal, they found Chuuya's car, badly totalled, & him severely injured. Rushing him to Doc, he was admitted for surgery right away where it was revealed he'd been run off the road in an apparent assassination attempt. Consequently, he had a head injury, several major fractures, including his spine. Now, his accelerated healing process allows him to recover quickly from major injuries, but even this was a lot. Chuuya suffered temporary paralysis of the lower extremities, & was forced to use a wheelchair for a few months, followed by a couple more weeks using a cane & extensive physical therapy to relearn how to walk,

This wouldn't be the only trial they would face together; there was the Cannibalism incident, or when Dazai is arrested & sent to Meursault as part of a larger plan to stop Dostoyevsky, & Chuuya struggles to cope with his absence & having to run the Port Mafia in his stead.

The local disputes don't end after he comes home, either. At age 21 Chuuya & his subordinates were captured trying to shut down an illegal human trafficking ring, the leader ( Kuro Onizawa ) of which wound up sexually assaulting Chuuya ( drugging him, stripping him naked to take pictures for an auction & forcing him to perform oral sex on him while he was bound & out of it, also insinuating he would come back to rape him later ), & attempting to go to war with the Port Mafia itself after trying to auction off several of their members in spite. Dazai wound up capturing the man & torturing him brutally in revenge ( gouging out his eyes, severing the nerves in his wrists so he couldn’t use his hands ever again & castrating him so he could never assault another person ), keeping him chained up in the Port Mafia basement for weeks before finally killing him. Afterwards he cut the body into pieces and sent each of his overseas human trafficking connections a chunk along with a letter informing them that Yokohama was CLOSED to human trafficking, sexual or otherwise, & to not attempt to do business in his city again. At one point following Meursault, Dazai is put into a coma after getting shot in the head when his father learns he's alive & sends an assassin to kill him to protect his own reputation, leaving Dazai temporarily wheelchair bound & spending months in recovery having to relearn fine & gross motor skills + coordination / speech therapy as a result.

All of these were enemies they were forced to work together to overcome. But they did overcome them, & they will continue to do so; after all... no one ever incurred the wrath of Double Black & lived to talk about it afterwards.

~ APPEARANCE / STYLE ~

Eyes: Chuuya has intense blue eyes that look almost violet depending on the light, but can appear different shades of gray, violet, turquoise / greenish-blue, ultramarine or azure depending on the light, his mood or even what he's wearing; when he's angry they tend to look closer to a storm-cloud gray, but when happy or excited they take on a light, almost sky blue colour. Whenever he activates Corruption his pupils & irises disappear entirely leaving an eerie, glowing white sclera.

Hair: He has ginger hair of a reddish-orange colour, leaning more towards orange than brown or red, which is cut asymmetrically & frames his face in long, wavy lengths. He occasionally wears a ponytail to keep it out of his face, especially if he has a lot of office work to do. Sometimes he likes to let Dazai braid it for him in a similar style to Verlaine. It grows much faster than the average man's due to how Upon the Tainted Sorrow effects his physiology & hormonal levels, so he needs to cut it frequently or it would be down to his waist.

Skin: Very fair. Chuuya, being a redhead, has sensitive skin that burns & freckles rather than tanning properly, so he tends to have a vigorous skincare routine to keep it healthy when he needs to be out in the sun; this results in a clear & nearly flawless complexion. During Corruption his skin turns ghostly white, & in the days/weeks of recovery afterwards it will look sallow & sickly regardless of how healthy he is.

Clothing: During his late teens when his style was just beginning to properly emerge, Chuuya had a much less defined style that would show the emergence of his eventual fashionable flair. Around the time of the Dark Era he was wearing tight, dark jeans & loose light-coloured tops with a custom made jacket that had a red, knee-length & wavy underlayer & a black hooded overlay that was cropped shorter. He also wears the black porkpie hat with a crimson ribbon around it, later adding a silver chain to the brim. Following his separation from Arahabaki, he semi-retires the hat in favour of experimenting with his hair style. As an adult, Chuuya typically wears to work a three piece suit consisting of black heeled dress boots, dark blue trousers & blazer, a black waistcoat, deep red shirt & black tie, all high quality & custom made. He wears wrist-length black leather gloves after joining the Port Mafia. Following his experiences with N at age 19, he starts wearing black leather goatskin gloves with a touchscreen interface in the fingertips, they come up slightly passed his wrists to hide the scars on them, & allow him to still interact with the Port Mafia's security protocols. Chuuya has an extensive skincare routine, & also often wears a little bit of makeup when he goes out, whether its for work or errands or for fun, including eyeliner, foundation, & a bit of mascara or colourless lip balm.

Tattoos / Piercings / Jewellery: Chuuya has multiple piercings in each ear. His left ear has his first & second earlobe pierced with usually gemstone studs or plain black or stainless steel metal - occasionally he may do small drop or dangle earrings, an outer conch piercing - usually a small hoop or a stud, a rook stud, an anti-tragus & three small upper helix rings. In his right ear he has the first & second lobe pierced with the same type of jewellery as the left typically, & a third lobe piercing; at times he may wear a chain piercing that connects the first lobe to the third. He also has a conch piercing in his right ear, two forward helixes, a set of three tragus piercings, & an industrial. Chuuya is almost never seen without his black leather choker with a silver buckle on the throat. After getting engaged to & eventually marrying Dazai, he wears an incredibly durable ring on his left ring finger, made of a tungsten alloy. It's silver with black accents & a gold kintsugi-like lacquer design giving it a look like it was shattered & put back together again; it is designed to compliment the colours of Dazai's black, silver-accented ring with gold 'repairs'. He once had a barcode tattooed on the back of his neck...

Scars / Birthmarks: ...which he promptly burned off with a hair straightener when he was 16, shortly after becoming acquainted with Verlaine. However, the brand was re-done against his consent by N during his abduction. He was told mutilating it again could cause severe damage by Doc & instead reluctantly agreed to wait, ending up with a surgery that removed some of the built up scar tissue & repaired the rest of the damage with a skin graft. Now there's merely a slightly pinkish discolouration on the back of his neck. Aside from this, Chuuya has several bullet wound scars on his torso from getting shot by N with minor healed electrical burns surrounding them, & major scarring circling around either of his wrists from being restrained with barbed wire & hung by his arms, causing them to tear into the tissue rather deeply.

Supernatural Ability: Upon The Tainted Sorrow { Primary }, Corruption { Secondary }. Following his separation from Arahabaki, Chuuya now needs to make physical contact with the god in order to trigger Corruption, as which point they temporarily merge back together again, however - on the plus side - he has more control over what he does when in that state, though he still requires Dazai's nullification to turn it off / separate them again as Arahabaki in human form is still not quite at full power & thus unable to do so himself most of the time. He & Ara share an empathy link upon their separation & can feel when the other is experiencing extreme emotions, or is in a lot of pain / danger.

Languages: Chuuya was comfortably multilingual by the time he was 18 as part of his job as a Mafia Executive who frequently travelled out of the country, meeting with foreign connections or quelling overseas disputes, etc. By that point he was fluent in several dialects of Japanese ( including those used on the islands ), English, French, South Korean, Greek, Latin, Thai, Arabic, Hindi, Mandarin & Cantonese, Spanish, Swedish, Italian, Russian, Romanian & even German. By the time Dazai usurps the position of leader & appoints Chuuya as his second in command, he is also able to read & speak Latin & Greek effortlessly, & is quickly becoming conversational in Dutch, Hindi, Arabic & Hebrew. He is also able to understand & utilize Japanese, Chinese, & American Sign Language in addition to the coded language he & Dazai created together.

Physical Abilities: Due to the physical experiments he was put through, Chuuya is shown to have above average - bordering on superhuman - strength, speed, stamina & reflexes, as he is able to easily hit hard enough to decimate a concrete pillar or wall with his fist even without the use of his ability. Chuuya is also an adept tactician & commander over his men, caring for them on a personal level to which he takes into consideration their personal abilities & directs them accordingly. HYPNOSIS MICROPHONE 4TH INTERNATIONAL POLL (DECEMBER 2020) Part 6: Fandom and the Future of HypMic

Thank you for your participation! These are the final results for the 4th Hypnosis Microphone International Poll. After months of work on this, we have estimates for general fandom opinions. Do you agree or disagree with the general opinions? Please let us know!

The results were held back from original posting as we were waiting to post for a month before the 2nd DRB finals (which is on Doppo’s Birthday this year.) My deepest apologies for how long this took to get out. We will be releasing these results with a section per day, with the end of these results showing the Japanese side.

PREFACE

The data collection for this poll received 902 votes to give us an indication of the demographic of those who consume Hypnosis Mic. This poll was open to English speakers, and thus, results may be considerably Euro/American-centric. The word ‘international’ has been used to refer to how fans are from many places around the world, but the poll may also refer to this group as ‘English-speaking’ etc. The Japanese poll had a smaller respondent pool with 400.

This poll received the most activity through Twitter, given that the series is most active on that platform. The poll was also posted on Tumblr, Facebook and the HypMic wiki. Commentary has been given on sections of the poll. These results will be available in full on from this account. The Japanese poll results shall follow about a week with comparison to this poll.

The poll was conducted from December 2020 to January 2021. This poll is UNOFFICIAL and none of the composers of this poll have any relation to King Records whatsoever.

When The Shark Stops

Summary: Liam and Kendall have a long overdue talk. Follow up to my Liam x MC fic, posted here. I didn’t intend for this to become a multi-part thing, but I think I’ll make it a trilogy.

A full night of sleep is something that Liam typically considers a luxury. He’s a king, responsible for the lives of tons of people, he has work to do. “Sleep is for the weak and the dead,” Constantine used to say. Crawling into bed late and waking up early is the routine he’s grown accustomed to.

But right now, he can’t sleep. His queen is tucked in beside him, snoring softly and their newborn is comfortably nestled in their bassinet right next to their bed, and he’s staring at the ceiling, unable to move.

He feels disjointed, in a way. He knows he should be happy right now, ecstatic even. He has a beautiful baby girl, and she’s healthy and Kendall is as well, but he can’t shake the melancholy. The overwhelming sense of dread crawls up and down his spine, makes a playground out of his mind, and disrupts any sort of peace.

It’s been like this for the past 4 days, ever since Eleanor was born, ever since he found out what Godfrey did to his mother, ever since he agreed to an alliance with Auvernal. If he’s not helping Kendall with their daughter, he’s in his study trying to formulate a plan. The other part of his time is spent like this, trying but failing to sleep. Now that he’s not actively doing something, his thoughts have ample opportunity to run rampant.

Your parents were murdered, one of you advisors has fled, Kendall is upset with you, and you’re one false move away from starting a war with Auvernal.

His breathing is hard and labored, his heart is beating 130 times per minute, and he can actually feel his pulse painfully throbbing at the base of his skull.

He turns and looks at Kendall. He envies the fact that she’s sleeping peacefully even though their daughter will be waking her up in the next hour or so. Her entire body is relaxed, and her hair is out of the way, fashioned in a bun so he can look at her gorgeous face. He gently runs a thumb along her cheek, careful not to wake her. She sighs in content, but thankfully she doesn’t stir.

She almost died because of you, you know, a thought flits into his mind. Multiple times. Assasination attempts, kidnappings, hell, she almost died bringing your child into the world.

Liam shoots out of bed, jumping away from Kendall. The adrenaline of the action makes his head pound harder and he doubles over in pain, wincing. He stumbles out of their bedroom on wobbly feet until he reaches their kitchen. His entire body trembles and he can’t pinpoint the cause.

“Pull it together,” He hisses sharply to himself. He rummages through one of their cabinets to retrieve a glass, hoping some cold water can calm him down. “You’re the king, for Christ’s sake!”

But he can’t. Now that he’s up, he’s opened the floodgates, the thoughts coming faster, each one more pervasive than the last.

You’re a horrible King, why do you think you can psych yourself up with a sudden reminder of your station? What was everything thinking when they told you that you deserved this job? That you would make a better ruler than your brother?

What type of King lets innocent people suffer through multiple assassination attempts? Why haven’t you learned your lesson yet?

You couldn’t even stop an old man—the man that murdered your mother—from leaving your own home! He was able to get the jump on you, and leave you trapped for good measure.

No wonder Bradshaw and Isabella were able to manipulate you so easily. Look at you. You’re weak-willed and pathetic. No wonder Kendall is so upset with you. She deserves a better husband, one who can actually protect her, and Eleanor definitely deserves a better father. Not even a week old, and you’ve already doomed her.

“SHUT UP!” Liam yells, to no one in particular. The glass he’s holding shatters, his grip on it entirely too tight. Tears prick the corners of his eyes and he laughs humorlessly. Why is this the straw that breaks the camel’s back? “Dammit!”

He hears shuffling and a few moments later, the light to the kitchen turns on. He sees Kendall out of the corner of his eye.

“What’s going on?” She asks. “I thought I heard yelling.”

“It’s nothing, I promise.”

She sees the shards of glass littering their floor. “Did you drop that?”

“Yeah, I got up to get some water and I’m just a bit clumsy right now.”

Kendall doesn’t believe him. Something doesn’t feel right.

“I can help you clean it up.”

“Nonsense. I made this mess,” his voice cracks slightly betraying his facade, “I’ll clean it up. I always do.”

“Liam, what’s wrong?” Kendall asks.

“Nothing is wrong.”

“We’ve been married for almost a year. I know all of your tells. I know you like the back of my hand, and I can tell when something is wrong.” She takes a step towards him. “So I’m going to ask you one more time, what’s wrong?”

He clenches his fists together tightly, willing himself to calm down. But it’s no use as the tears start streaming down his face. “I’m a failure.”

“What?”

“I’m a failure,” Liam repeats. “I can’t protect you, I can’t protect our daughter, I can’t protect this kingdom. I can’t even properly avenge my mother’s death.”

“You’re not a failure,” Kendall argues.

“Look at my track record, Kendall! It’s been one horrible mark on my reign after another ever since I took the crown. Drake got shot, Kiara got stabbed, my father was killed, Applewood is barely starting to recover from the fire. I couldn’t even keep you safe on our wedding day, you had to encounter not one, but two assassination attempts. I blindly trusted Godfrey to handle our security, not even knowing he was the reason I grew up with my mother and a younger sibling, and look where that got us. Now for my latest fuck up, I entered us into an alliance with Auvernal, and you hate me for it. Every bad thing that’s happened to us is a result of my poor leadership.”

Liam slides down to the floor and drives a thumb into one of his temples, hoping to rid some of the tension. Kendall gets down on the floor with him, wincing as she does so. Liam stares at her oddly. “What are you doing?”

“You got on the floor, so I’m getting on the floor.”

“Kendall, you need to rest.”

“I’m not going anywhere,” Kendall says stubbornly. She grabs Liam’s face and forces him to look at her. “I made a vow to you, in that fancy cathedral, in front of our friends, families, and God and I promised that I was going to be your best friend, your fiercest protector, and your soft spot to land.”

“You don’t need to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders all by yourself,” she continues. “I am right here with you. You know that, right?”

“Yes,” he answers.

“But do you believe me when I say it? There is nothing too heavy or too intense for me to tackle, not when I’m right here, right by your side. I’m not going anywhere, Liam. You aren’t alone.”

Kendall’s wipes away one of his tears. “What brought this on?”

Liam shrugs. “I don’t know. I think everything that happened the other night has really been weighing on me, coupled with everything that’s happened in the past year and a half. I can’t even get through writing our daughter’s birth announcement without spiraling into a panic.”

“I feel the exact same way. That 7 pound infant came here, and she’s made everything feel so much more...real. I can’t even get a glass of water without my mind instantly going to her.”

He nods. “I’m gad you understand. Her birth has brought up a lot of previously buried...stuff.”

“You’ve been through a lot, Liam. You aren’t Superman, traumatic things are going to weigh you down. And despite the privilege, you’ve been dealt a hand that most people couldn’t even fathom. Every person who doubts you or judges you couldn’t walk half a mile in your shoes. And in my biased opinion, I still think you’re doing an excellent job.” Liam manages to smile at that. “You aren’t a failure. You are strong, and brave, and loyal. You have compassion, you have integrity, you care about everyone, and while some people think those are weaknesses, I say they’re your biggest strengths.”

Liam leans forward, resting his head on top of his wife’s. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome. You know you can always come to me if you’re feeling overwhelmed.”

“Sorry. I’m used to dealing with things alone. It’s still an adjustment, having you at my side.”

“Is there anything I can do for you?” Kendall asks. “Go over speeches with you, write something, call someone?”

“No. No, you’ve done enough for now.”

“Now, can we go to bed?”

“Yes, my queen.” Liam stands up, helping Kendall as well. “But first, I need to sweep up this glass.”

“Leave it,” Kendall orders. “We can get it in the morning.”

When Liam wakes up later, their bedroom is dark. The heavy curtains leading draped over the windows are drawn, blocking out any light. He rolls over and notices the time on the small clock on his nightstand. He jumps up. It’s almost 1PM! That can’t possibly be correct. He’s never slept this late.

Kendall and Eleanor aren’t in the room with him, but he hears noise coming from their living room.

After taking a second to gather his bearings, he gets out of bed and leaves the room. But instead of seeing his wife, he sees Regina and Leo. She’s holding Eleanor in her arms, gently cooing at the baby and Leo is in the adjacent kitchen making himself a sandwich.

“Regina! Leo! This is a pleasant surprise.”

Regina smiles at Liam. “Hello, Liam.”

“What’s up, little bro?

“Sorry, I’m still in my pajamas. I didn’t expect to sleep so late.”

“Kendall said you needed some rest,” Regina explains. “She turned off your alarm and let you sleep in.”

“Speaking of my wife, have you seen her?”

“She’s in her study, getting some work done.”

“Work?” Cordonia has a pretty decent maternity leave, which extends even to nobles and royalty. No one expected Kendall to return to work until Eleanor was 4 months old.

“Yes, she said she wanted to meet with Olivia and discuss some things. I took it as the perfect opportunity to hang out with the newest member of our family. And the cutest.”

Liam walks over to the couch, where Regina and Eleanor are sitting. He smiles down at his daughter, who’s silently looking at her surroundings. “Hello, my gorgeous girl. I hope you’ve been good for grandma Regina.”

“She’s been an absolute doll.”

“Yeah, you made a pretty perfect baby,” Leo adds. “She clearly takes after her mother.”

“I know that’s meant to be a dig, but I actually agree with you. She looks more and more like Kendall every single day.”

After catching up with Leo and Regina for a few more minutes, Liam returns to his bedroom to take a quick shower and changes into actual clothes for the day. He steps out of their personal quarters and heads downstairs to Kendall’s personal office.

He finds her and Olivia at her desk, papers, a laptop, and coffee cups spread around them. “Kendall, Olivia, What are you two doing?”

“It’s about time you woke up,” Olivia quips with a smirk.

“Leave him alone, Olivia,” Kendall chides. “He wakes up before the sun rises every single morning. He deserves a break.”

Liam kisses the top of Kendall’s head. “Thank you. So, when I was walking down the hall to get here, I didn’t see Mara stationed at your door.”

“Because I fired her.”

“You did what?”

“Liam, let’s not pretend for one second that she deserved to be security for the Queen of Cordonia,” Olivia says.

“She has a new station, at the American Embassy in the capital. I told Bastien that I need a new guard, someone who makes sure I don’t get kidnapped. Or shot at. And can keep paparazzi at bay. And actually oversees security at the palace so a random noble doesn’t have a kill switch.”

When Kendall runs down all the transgressions they’ve dealt with in the past year, he can’t really blame her. “Very well. What else are you working on?”

“I sent a few guards to Krona, in case Godfrey shows up. Madeleine and Adelaide are still at their home in Fydelia, and are cooperating with law enforcement and the King’s guards...for now at least. I don’t trust them. I’ve also called Betty…”

“Betty?”

“Queen Elizabeth,” Kendall clarifies. “I informed her and the Prince of Wales that Godfrey might try to flee to Karlington, and if he does, they have to tell us right away. They can’t afford to protect him and piss off a powerful ally, with all the drama their monarchy is facing, so they promised to comply. And all major European airports know to detain him immediately.”

“You’ve done all of this in the��” he checks his watch, “7 hours that I was asleep?”

“Yes. After you went to sleep, I breastfed Eleanor and got to work. I know you said you didn’t need me to do anything, but this is my home and this is my family, so I had to do something. You know sitting idly by isn’t my strong suit.”

“Well, it seems like the two of you have got a lot accomplished.”

“Oh this was all Kendall’s doing,” Olivia says. “But I did help her with phase 2.”

Liam narrows his eyes at the redhead. “What’s phase 2?”

“Olivia told me that you had her spying on Auvernal,” Kendall explains. The color drains from Liam’s face and he opens his mouth to explain, but she holds up a hand to silence him. “Save it, I don’t mind, and I don’t need an explanation. But she did reveal some interesting information about their King and Queen.”

“Like what?”

“Well darling, you’ll find out soon enough.” Kendall takes a sip of her coffee. “Because I invited them over next week so we can have a nice chat.”

fantasy setting. logan, remus, deceit and virgil a a gang of exiles, cast out for various reasons. they fall in love with each other and go on adventures together.

Logan Blackberry Everton, 27

Expert swordsman. Refuses to harm or threaten anyone he considers an ally with his sword.

Exiled 6 years ago because he "betrayed" the royal throne of the Paawtonia kingdom, by killing the heir, Dayd Harper, on the day before his coronation.

In reality, Dayd was a corrupt ruler waiting to happen, and knew that Dayd was going to bring his kingdom down to ashes.

Before exile, Logan was a royal guard, specifically Patton Harper's personal guard. He & Patton were in love, and when Patton had discovered what Logan had done to his older brother he exiled him, and by the time Patton learned the truth it was too late. Logan was too far away. Their love has faded into history.

Logan's never seen without bandages covering his arms, from shoulder to wrist. Can't tell you why, it's spoilers.

Calm, calculated, but loving. Knows exactly how to calm his lovers due to his experience with having to deal with Patton's occasional mental breakdowns because Patton had a rough childhood.

Ethan "Deceit" Moreau, 25

Works with a staff + sword combo. His boyfs thought his sword was odd for a while until Ethan finally revealed he and the "sword" could cast magic.

Exiled because he was born in an anti-magic kingdom, having magic powers. He naturally knows dark and deceptive magic, and he taught himself some fire & psychic magic later in his life.

Never seen without his body almost 100% covered and part of his face covered. The location that's covered is always changing. Sometimes one eye, sometimes both, sometimes his mouth, etc. It is unknown in the group why he does so. It is theorized to have something to do with his magic, perhaps a side effect? Only Ethan & the people from his home village knows.

Reserved. Keeps things close to his chest(metaphorically). Will take things you say about him seriously and it will take a while before he forgives you for it. He thinks fast on his feet, and is usually the reason his boyfriends dodge being hit by someone, because otherwise they'd have no clue.

Remus & Roman Aveyard, 23

Remus uses a large, spiky battle hammer as a weapon. It's lighter than it looks, most of the impact and damage comes from the spikes. Remus just likes swinging a hammer more than a morningstar.

Roman is never seen without a shield. He'll take any weapon, but he knows to protect himself during combat. He'd never intentionally give up his shield for another person, it's all about keeping himself protected.

Exiled together at the age of 16 for sabotaging their kingdom, Fairience. They hated their father, Romulus, their mother, Farah, and their older brother, Pryce; Which led them to the foolish decision to attempt to assassinate their whole family and take over the throne together. The twins successfully killed off their parents but were halted before getting to their brother.

Pryce took over the throne, the twins got chased out of the kingdom and were hailed fugitives. They tried to stick together until eventually during an ambush they got separated and presumed each other dead, so they went their separate ways.

7 years later which is when the story starts, Remus had ended up in the exile gang this au is about, while Roman became the leader of a gang of thieves. The gang Roman leads is known to bring harm to whoever resists their ways, no matter what. They'll even overthrow their own leader if the leader goes against their ways.

Remus was mostly alone those 7 years, and became touch starved because of it. So this short, rambunctious kid known for frequently going beserk curls up in fear, shaking, just from being touched. Roman however, is not touch starved but is vary wary about strangers touching him, causing him to quickly dodge oncoming contact from someone new faster than most people could, it's a sixth sense for him to know when unfamiliar touch is coming.

Remus is super wild and all over the place, and at times seems so hyper that he must've had a lot of sugar. He's not afraid to roast & talk sh** about someone, and slap a b***h too. But when it comes to his boyfriends, Remus is very affectionate, giving lots of compliments and kisses. He is very good at distracting them from whatever is bothering them as well.

Roman is prideful and despite him keeping a shield with him most of the time, he's not very cautious. He'll dive headfirst into danger with a shield in hand. He's one of the few who can keep Remus under control(aside from Remus's bfs). He will gossip about you, just accept it. On the outside he acts very social and outgoing but on the inside he's very shy and just wants to get away from the crowds.

Roman isn't as big in this AU as Remus is, Roman's just put here for convenience.

Virgil Caverly-Deckett, 24 (His name in the image is wrong)

Rogue, uses close-range weapons like daggers. He intimidates most who get close to him so it gives him the advantage.

Exiled for being only part human. His mother had an affair with a demon, so he's part demon. His birthplace is known for being heavily religious, and all the people saw him as a child of sin. So against his mothers cries for mercy, he was chased out of town the day he turned 8, which is when the rumors of him being part demon were proven due to his demon heritage finally coming to light. He still doesn't know what type of demon he partially is, as the only signs he has shown so far are the tiny horns that stick out of his head, the odd patches of skin on his arms and his sharper-than-average fingernails.

He was found and raised by the Dragon Witch, who is actually a relative of Virgil's birth father. Virgil then left his new home at age 19, because he wanted to make a name for himself out there(as well as find others like him), but he occaisonally visits his "Mother Witch"(as he sometimes refers to her as) whenever he can and spends time with her.

Prior to meeting the exile gang, he stopped speaking sentences longer than 10 words, and nobody knows why except for Virgil himself. Not even his Mother Witch, because he hadn't visited since it happened. He can frequently be seen counting on his fingers over and over.

Vigilant. Was pretty vagrant too, until he met his lovers. Soft spoken when calm, but when in battle or stressed his voice is loud, booming, and aggressive. His glare is powerful due to being part demon, he can convince people to back down with it. He rarely uses it on his boyfriends, its only when it's absolutely necessary. He's super affectionate, but in a cuddly way. He's silently demanding them to cuddle him a lot, and they give in because either they want to or they can't resist.

Other noteworthy characters:

Patton Catonica Harper, 24: Ruler of Paawtonia. Used to be in love with Logan but exiled him out of grief after he killed his brother, Dayd. Found out once Logan was long gone that Lo had done him a favor and has since become a shadow of his former self.

Serilda "Dragon Witch" Caverly, ???: Mother figure to Virgil. Master of making potions, charms, and other magical objects. Casts spells with staff. Has wings on her back that she can shrink for comfort and grow when she wants to fly. She also has dragon-like pupils, and has dragon claws, feet, horns, and tail that she can disguise at will for ease. She is a Draconic Demon.

Remy Brantley, 20: Wizard in training. Focuses on sleep-related spells & items. Has trouble with duration of his spells.

Emile Picani, 23: Patton's head servant and best friend. Essentially Patton's therapist as well, as he's the only one who has helped the depressed king with his trauma.

Thomas Sanders, 21: Wizard in training & Remy's best friend. Born in Paawtonia & is faithful to his kingdom. Knows Logan because they are cousins, was very close to him. Fears the day Logan returns because that means, as a defender of Paawtonia, he would have to kill the intruding exile.

season 8: apparently “doesn’t care about innocent lives”; ditches brienne at the last second and goes back to live out his twincest fantasies; dies in the most anticlimactic way possible without even fulfilling the heavily foreshadowed prophecy of killing cersei

seasons 1-7: i don’t care about this evil bitch but she is consistently shown to be the true mad queen; someone who would rather die, see millions die, than lose; who killed innocent people in the sept, leading to the death of her own son; consistently shown to be clever and an expert at playing the game

season 8: i still don’t care, and yet they try to humanize her and make her a “good guy”, even keeping her pregnant just to make us feel bad for her as she begs for her child to live; describes how at least a dozen characters want to kill her; kills her in the most anticlimactic way possible while also having her do absolutely nothing all season but stand on a balcony drinking wine (mood)

grey worm

seasons 3-7: starts as a brutalized slave, meant to show no emotion and care about no one; goes through hell and survives to be liberated, to find love, to find his humanity; says at least 50 times how he will kill his queen’s enemies and anyone who tries to harm her

season 8: has his love taken from him and goes nuts, becoming the killer he was created/manipulated to be; yet somehow doesn’t spear jon through the face for murdering his queen, the only person he had left???

John Conyers

John James Conyers Jr. (May 16, 1929 – October 27, 2019) was an American politician of the Democratic Party who served as a U.S. Representative for Michigan from 1965 to 2017. The districts he represented always included part of western Detroit. During his final three terms, his district included many of Detroit's western suburbs, as well as a large portion of the Downriver area.

Conyers served more than 50 years in Congress, becoming the sixth-longest serving member of Congress in U.S. history; he was the longest-serving African American member of Congress. Conyers was the Dean of the House of Representatives. By the end of his last term, he was the last remaining member of Congress who had served since the presidency of Lyndon B. Johnson.

After serving in the Korean War, Conyers became active in the civil rights movement. He also served as an aide to Congressman John Dingell before winning election to the House in 1964. He co-founded the Congressional Black Caucus in 1969 and established a reputation as one of the most liberal members of Congress. Conyers joined the Congressional Progressive Caucus after it was founded in 1991. Conyers supported creation of a single-payer healthcare system and sponsored the United States National Health Care Act. He also sponsored a bill to establish Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a federal holiday. Conyers ran for Mayor of Detroit in 1989 and 1993, but he was defeated in the primary both times.

Conyers served as the ranking Democratic member on the House Committee on the Judiciary from 1995 to 2007 and again from 2011 to 2017. He served as chairman of that committee from 2007 to 2011 and as Chairman of the House Oversight Committee from 1989 to 1995. In the wake of allegations that he had sexually harassed female staff members and secretly used taxpayer money to settle a harassment claim, Conyers announced his resignation from Congress on December 5, 2017.

Early life, education, and early career

Conyers was born in Highland Park, Michigan, and grew up in Detroit, the son of Lucille Janice (Simpson) and John James Conyers, a labor leader. Among his siblings was younger brother William Conyers. After graduating from Northwestern High School, Conyers served in the Michigan National Guard from 1948 to 1950; the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1954; and the U.S. Army Reserves from 1954 to 1957. Conyers served for a year in Korea during the Korean War as an officer in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and was awarded combat and merit citations.

After his active military service, Conyers pursued a college education. He earned both his BA (1957) and LL.B. (1958) degrees from Wayne State University. After he was admitted to the bar, he worked on the staff of Congressman John Dingell. He also served as counsel to several Detroit-area labor union locals. From 1961 to 1963, he was a referee for Michigan's workmen's compensation department.

Conyers became one of the leaders of the civil rights movement. He was present in Selma, Alabama, on October 7, 1963, for the voter registration drive known as Freedom Day.

U.S. House of Representatives

Elections

In 1964, Conyers ran for an open seat in what was then the 1st District, and defeated Republican Robert Blackwell with 84% of the vote. He was reelected 13 times with even larger margins. After the 1990 United States Census, Michigan lost a congressional district, and there was redistricting. Conyers's district was renumbered as the 14th district.

In 1992, Conyers won re-election to his 15th term in his new district, which included western suburbs of Detroit, with 82% of the vote against Republican nominee John Gordon. He won re-election another nine times after that. His worst re-election performance was in 2010, when he got 77% of the vote against Republican nominee Don Ukrainec. In 2013, his district was renamed as the 13th district.

In total, Conyers won re-election twenty-five times and was serving in his twenty-sixth term. He was the dean of the House as longest-serving current member, the third longest-serving member of the House in history, and the sixth longest-serving member of Congress in history. He was the second-longest serving member of either house of Congress in Michigan's history, trailing only his former boss, Dingell. He was also the last member of the large Democratic freshman class of 1964 who was still serving in the House.

In May 2014, Wayne County Clerk Cathy Garrett determined that Conyers had not submitted enough valid nominating petition signatures to appear on the August 2014 Primary Election ballot. Two of his workers circulating petitions were not themselves registered voters at the time, which was required under Michigan law. But on May 23, Federal District Judge Matthew Leitman issued an injunction placing Conyers back on the ballot, ruling that the requirement that circulators be registered voters was similar to an Ohio law which had been found unconstitutional in 2008 by a Federal appeals court. The Michigan Secretary of State's office subsequently announced they would not appeal the ruling.

Tenure

Conyers was one of the 13 founding members of the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) and was considered the Dean of that group. Formed in 1969, the CBC was founded to strengthen African-American lawmakers' ability to address the legislative concerns of Black and minority citizens. He served longer in Congress than any other African American. In 1971, he was one of the original members of Nixon's Enemies List.

In 1965, Conyers won a seat as a freshman on the influential Judiciary Committee, which was then chaired by Democratic Congressman Emanuel Celler of New York. The assignment was considered an elite one, as Judiciary ranked behind only Ways and Means and Appropriations in terms of the number of Members who sought assignment there.

According to the National Journal, Conyers has been considered, with Pete Stark, John Lewis, Jim McDermott, and Barbara Lee, to be one of the most liberal members of Congress for many years. Rosa Parks, known for her prominent role in the Montgomery, Alabama bus boycott, moved to Detroit and served on Conyers' staff between 1965 and 1988.

Conyers was known to have opposed regulation of online gambling. He opposed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006. After the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr. in 1968, Conyers introduced the first bill in Congress to make King's birthday a federal holiday. He continued to propose legislation to establish the federal holiday in every session of Congress from 1968 to 1983, when Martin Luther King Jr. Day was finally signed into law by President Ronald Reagan.

Conyers introduced the "Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African Americans Act" (H.R. 3745) in January 1989. He re-introduced this bill each congressional term. It calls for establishing a commission to research the history of slavery in the United States and its effects on current society, which is to recommend ways to remedy this injustice against African Americans. The current version was introduced and referred to committee on January 3, 2013. Conyers first introduced the proposed resolution in 1989, and has stated his intention to annually propose this act until it is approved and passed. Since 1997, the bill has been designated "H.R. 40," most recently, H.R. 40. If passed, the commission would explore the longstanding effects of slavery on today's society, politics, and economy.

"My bill does four things: It acknowledges the fundamental injustice and inhumanity of slavery; It establishes a commission to study slavery, its subsequent racial and economic discrimination against freed slaves; It studies the impact of those forces on today's living African Americans; and the commission would then make recommendations to Congress on appropriate remedies to redress the harm inflicted on living African Americans."

Nixon and Watergate

Conyers was critical of President Richard Nixon during his tenure. He was listed as number 13 on President Nixon's enemies list during the president's 1969–74 presidential tenure. The president's Chief Counsel described him as "coming on fast," and said he was "emerging" as a "black anti-Nixon spokesman". Conyers, who voted to impeach Nixon in July 1974, wrote at the time,

My analysis of the evidence clearly reveals an Administration so trapped by its own war policy and a desire to remain in office that it entered into an almost unending series of plans for spying, burglary and wiretapping, inside this country and against its own citizens, and without precedent in American history.

National Health Care Act

Conyers submitted the United States National Health Care Act (Expanded and Improved Medicare for All Act) (H.R. 676); as of 2015, it had 49 cosponsors. He introduced it with 25 cosponsors, in 2003, and reintroduced it each session since then. The act calls for the creation of a universal single-payer health care system in the United States, in which the government would provide every resident health care free of charge. To eliminate disparate treatment between richer and poorer Americans, the Act would prohibit private insurers from covering any treatment or procedure already covered by the Act.

Downing Street memo

On May 5, 2005, Conyers and 88 other members of Congress wrote an open letter to the White House inquiring about the Downing Street memo. This was a leaked memorandum that revealed an apparent secret agreement between the United States and the United Kingdom to attack Iraq in 2002. The Times reported that newly discovered documents reveal British and U.S. intentions to invade Iraq and leaders of the two countries had "discussed creating pretextual justifications for doing so."

The memo story broke in the United Kingdom, but did not receive much coverage in the United States. Conyers said: "This should not be allowed to fall down the memory hole during wall-to-wall coverage of the Michael Jackson trial and a runaway bride." Conyers and others reportedly considered sending a congressional investigation delegation to London.

What Went Wrong in Ohio

In May 2005, Conyers released What Went Wrong in Ohio: The Conyers Report On The 2004 Presidential Election. This dealt with the voting irregularities in the state of Ohio during the 2004 U.S. Presidential Election. The evidence offered consists of statistical abnormalities in the differences between exit poll results and actual votes registered at those locations. The book also discusses reports of faulty electronic voting machines and the lack of credibility of those machines used to tally votes.

Conyers was one of 31 members of the House who voted not to count the electoral votes from Ohio in the 2004 presidential election.

Constitution in Crisis

On August 4, 2006, Conyers released his report, The Constitution in Crisis: The Downing Street Minutes and Deception, Manipulation, Torture, Retributions and Cover-ups in the Iraq War, an edited collection of information intended to serve as evidence that the Bush Administration altered intelligence to justify the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

The Constitution in Crisis examines much of the evidence presented by the Bush Administration prior to the invasion and questions the credibility of their sources of intelligence. In addition, the document investigates conditions that led to the torture scandal at Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq, as well as further evidence of torture having been committed but not made known to the public. Finally, the document reports on a series of "smear tactics" purportedly used by the administration in dealing with its political adversaries. The document calls for the censure of President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. Conyers refused to back impeachment proceedings, however.

On anti-Muslim intolerance

Conyers proposed House Resolution 288, which condemns "religious intolerance" and emphasizes Islam as needing special protection from acts of violence and intolerance. It states that "it should never be official policy of the United States Government to disparage the Quran, Islam, or any religion in any way, shape, or form," and "calls upon local, State, and Federal authorities to work to prevent bias-motivated crimes and acts against all individuals, including those of the Islamic faith." The bill was referred to the House subcommittee on the Constitution in June 2005.

In 2005, Conyers introduced House Resolution 160, a house resolution that would have condemned the conduct of Narendra Modi, then the chief minister of the State of Gujarat in India. The resolution was cosponsored by Republican Representative Joseph R. Pitts (Republican of Pennsylvania). The resolution's title was: "Condemning the conduct of Chief Minister Narendra Modi for his actions to incite religious persecution and urging the United States to condemn all violations of religious freedom in India." The resolution cited a 2004 United States Commission on International Religious Freedom report on Modi stating that he was "widely accused of being reluctant to bring the perpetrators of the killings of Muslims and non-Hindus to justice". (See 2002 Gujarat riots.) The resolution was not adopted.

Conyers v. Bush

In April 2006 Conyers, together with ten other senior congressmen, filed an action in the U.S. District Court in the Eastern District of Michigan, Southern Division, challenging the constitutionality of the Deficit Reduction Act of 2005. The complaint alleged the bill was not afforded due consideration by the United States Congress before being signed by the President. The action was subsequently dismissed on grounds of lack of standing.

Ethics controversy

In April 2006, the FBI, and the US Attorney's office sent independent letters to the House Ethics Committee, saying that two former aides of Conyers had alleged that Conyers used his staff to work on several local and state campaigns of other politicians, including that of his wife Monica Conyers, for the Detroit City Council (she won a seat in 2005). He also forced them to baby-sit and chauffeur his children.

In late December 2006, Conyers "accepted responsibility" for violating House rules. A statement issued December 29, 2006, by the House Ethics Committee chairman Doc Hastings and Ranking Minority Member Howard Berman, said that Conyers acknowledged what he characterized as a "lack of clarity" in his communications with staff members regarding their official duties and responsibilities, and accepted responsibility for his actions.

In deciding to drop the matter, Hastings and Berman said:

After reviewing the information gathered during the inquiry, and in light of Representative Conyers' cooperation with the inquiry, we have concluded that this matter should be resolved through the issuance of this public statement and the agreement by Representative Conyers to take a number of additional, significant steps to ensure that his office complies with all rules and standards regarding campaign and personal work by congressional staff.

Conyers repeatedly introduced the Fair Copyright in Research Works Act, a bill that would overturn the NIH Public Access Policy, an open-access mandate of the National Institutes of Health. Conyers' bill would forbid the government from mandating that federally funded research be made freely available to the public. The legislation was supported by the publishing industry, and opposed by groups such as the Electronic Frontier Foundation. Writers Lawrence Lessig and Michael Eisen accused Conyers of being influenced by publishing houses, who have contributed significant money to his campaigns.

House Report on George W. Bush presidency and proposed inquiry

On January 13, 2009, the House Committee on the Judiciary, led by Conyers, released Reining in the Imperial Presidency: Lessons and Recommendations Relating to the Presidency of George W. Bush, a 486-page report detailing alleged abuses of power that occurred during the Bush administration, and a comprehensive set of recommendations to prevent recurrence. Conyers introduced a bill to set up a "truth commission" panel to investigate alleged policy abuses of the Bush administration.

Bill reading controversy

In late July 2009, Conyers, commenting on the healthcare debate in the House, stated: "I love these members, they get up and say, 'Read the bill' ... What good is reading the bill if it's a thousand pages and you don't have two days and two lawyers to find out what it means after you read the bill?" His remark brought criticism from government transparency advocates such as the Sunlight Foundation, which referred to readthebill.org in response.

Bribery conviction of wife

On June 16, 2009, the United States Attorney's Office said that two Synagro Technologies representatives had named Monica Conyers as the recipient of bribes from the company totaling more than $6,000, paid to influence passage of a contract with the City of Detroit. The information was gathered during an FBI investigation into political corruption in the city.

She was given a pre-indictment letter, and offered a plea bargain deal in the case. On June 26, 2009, she was charged with conspiring to commit bribery. She pleaded guilty. On March 10, 2010, she was sentenced to 37 months in prison, and also received two years of supervised probation. She served slightly more than 27 months at the Alderson Federal Prison Camp. After supervised release, she was fully released from federal custody officially on May 16, 2013.

Response to accusations regarding American Muslim spies

In October, Conyers responded to allegations from four Republican Congress Members, in the wake of the launch of the book Muslim Mafia, that the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) sought to plant Muslim "spies" in Capitol Hill. He strongly opposed the accusations, saying:

It shouldn't need to be said in 2009, and after the historic election of our first African-American president, but let me remind all my colleagues that patriotic Americans of all races, religions, and beliefs have the right – and the responsibility – to participate in our political process, including by volunteering to work in Congressional offices. Numerous Muslim-American interns have served the House ably and they deserve our appreciation and respect, not attacks on their character or patriotism.

WikiLeaks

At a December 16, 2010, hearing of the House Judiciary Committee on the subject of "the Espionage Act and the Legal and Constitutional Issues Raised by WikiLeaks," Conyers "argue[d] strongly against prosecuting WikiLeaks in haste – or at all." He strongly defended the whistleblowing organization, saying:

As an initial matter, there is no doubt that WikiLeaks is very unpopular right now. Many feel that the WikiLeaks publication was offensive. But being unpopular is not a crime, and publishing offensive information is not either. And the repeated calls from politicians, journalists, and other so-called experts crying out for criminal prosecutions or other extreme measures make me very uncomfortable. Indeed, when everyone in this town is joined together calling for someone's head, that is it a pretty strong sign we need to slow down and take a closer look. ... [L]et us not be hasty, and let us not legislate in a climate of fear or prejudice. For, in such an atmosphere, it is our constitutional freedoms and our cherished civil rights that are the first to be sacrificed in the false service of our national security.

Conyers's statement was "in marked contrast to the repeated calls from other members of Congress and Obama administration officials to prosecute WikiLeaks head Julian Assange immediately."

Criticism of American foreign policy

Conyers and his Republican colleague Ted Yoho offered bipartisan amendments to block the U.S. military training of Ukraine's Azov Battalion of the Ukrainian National Guard. Some members of the battalion are openly white supremacists. Conyers stated, "If there's one simple lesson we can take away from US involvement in conflicts overseas, it's this: Beware of unintended consequences. As was made vividly clear with U.S. involvement in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion decades ago, overzealous military assistance or the hyper-weaponization of conflicts can have destabilizing consequences and ultimately undercut our own national interests."

Conyers has also voiced concerns about sending anti-aircraft missiles to Syrian rebels.

Sexual harassment allegations and resignation

In 2015, a former employee of Conyers alleged that he had sexually harassed her and dismissed her. She filed an affidavit with the Congressional Office of Compliance. She said she was paid a settlement of $27,000 from public funds. BuzzFeed reported on this settlement on November 20, 2017, based on documents from Mike Cernovich, a conspiracy theorist and provocateur. BuzzFeed reported accounts of other ethical concerns associated with Conyers's office, such as sexual harassment of other female staffers, and staffers allegedly often finding him undressed inside his office.

In November 2017, Melanie Sloan, founder of Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW), publicly accused Conyers of having harassed and verbally abused her during her tenure working for the House Judiciary Committee. On one occasion, she was summoned to his office and found him sitting in his underwear, and she quickly left.

Conyers responded to these reports, saying, "In our country, we strive to honor this fundamental principle that all are entitled to due process. In this case, I expressly and vehemently denied the allegations made against me, and continue to do so. My office resolved the allegations – with an express denial of liability – in order to save all involved from the rigors of protracted litigation."

On November 21, 2017, the House Ethics Committee launched an investigation into multiple sexual harassment allegations against Conyers. Later in November 2017 there were reports that a second woman accused Conyers of sexual harassment. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who had initially stated that Conyers was an "icon" and had done a great deal to protect women, called upon Conyers to resign. She said the allegations against him were "very credible".

On December 5, 2017, Conyers resigned his House seat because of his mounting sexual scandals. The announcement came the day after another former staffer released an affidavit accusing Conyers of sexual harassment. The same day, an article by The Washington Post published allegations by Courtney Morse that Conyers had threatened her with a similar fate to that of Chandra Levy, a staffer found murdered in a park in Washington, DC. She said that after she rejected his advances, he "said he had insider information on the case. I don't know if he meant it to be threatening, but I took it that way."

At a time when the #MeToo movement was pushing for action against men who harassed women, some media and supporters in Detroit believed Conyers had been unfairly treated. He was reported as the "first sitting politician to be ousted from office in the wake of the #MeToo movement." One supporter said he had been "railroaded" out of office.

Political positions

According to The New Republic, Conyers was a member of the Democratic Socialists of America in 1983.

Conyers supported legislation aimed at strengthening the U.S. civil justice system. In March 2016, Rep. Conyers and Representative Hank Johnson introduced legislation to protect consumers access to civil courts, titled the "Restoring Statutory Rights Act." This legislation would "ensure that the state, federal, and constitutional rights of Americans are enforceable" and consumers aren't forced into secretive private arbitration hearings.

Detroit mayoral campaigns

While serving in the U.S. House, Conyers made two unsuccessful runs for mayor of Detroit: one in 1989 against incumbent Coleman Young and again in 1993.

1989

Incumbent Democratic Mayor Coleman Young decided to run for a fifth term, despite growing unpopularity and the declining economy of Detroit. In the September primary, Young won with 51% of the vote. Accountant Tom Barrow qualified for the November run-off by having 24%, and Conyers received 18% of the vote. Despite the difficulties of the city, Young defeated Barrow in the run-off with 56% of the vote.

1993

In June 1993, incumbent Democratic Mayor Coleman Young decided to retire instead of seeking a sixth term, citing his age and health. Many observers believed he had decided not to test his growing unpopularity. In a Detroit News poll in February, 81% said Young should retire. Conyers was one of the 23 candidates who qualified for ballot access.

Dennis Archer was the front runner in the mayoral campaign from the beginning. The 51-year-old former State Supreme Court Justice raised over $1.6 million to finance his campaign. He won the September primary with 54% of the vote. Conyers came in fourth place. Archer won the November election.

Electoral history

Personal life and death

Conyers married Monica Esters, a teacher in Detroit, in 1990. She was 25 and he was 61; they had two sons together, John James III and Carl Edward Conyers. She later served as a vice administrator of the public schools, and in 2005 was elected to the Detroit City Council. In September 2015, Monica Conyers filed for divorce, citing a "breakdown of the marriage". However, they reconciled in late 2016.

Conyers' grandnephew, Ian Conyers, was elected to the Michigan Senate in 2016. He generated controversy by telling of Conyers's planned retirement in interviews before the Congressman announced it himself, and claiming his great-uncle's endorsement. While Ian Conyers announced he would run in the special election for the Congressman's seat, John Conyers endorsed his son. John Conyers III chose not to run. Ian Conyers was defeated in the Democratic primary by Rashida Tlaib.

Conyers died on October 27, 2019, at his home in Detroit. He was 90 years old. His funeral was held on November 4 at Detroit's Greater Grace Temple.

Representation in other media

Conyers frequently posted at Daily Kos and Democratic Underground. Beginning May 2005, he had been a contributing blogger at The Huffington Post and on his own blog.

John Conyers appeared in Michael Moore's documentary Fahrenheit 9/11, discussing the aftermath of the September 11 attacks. He said many members of Congress "don't read most of the bills," as they are very lengthy. They rely on staff to study them in detail.

Honors and awards

In 2007, he was awarded the Spingarn Medal from the NAACP.

Ideally this will be a fully comprehensive timeline and include all characters and their backstories. Sources will continue to be added, such as which route and part that information comes from.

Events that happen after Alice the Second falls into Cradle will not be included. Backstories only!

Edgar: "It started 100 years ago. One of my ancestors committed a terrible crime. Though he was the Jack of Hearts, he conspired to overthrow the King and Queen of Hearts. But his rebellion ended in failure. He was tried by the king and queen for his crimes and sentenced to beheading."

Edgar: "But that wasn't enough. His entire family had to be punished for what he had done. And so, by order of the king and queen, the next jack was forced into a secret pact with the king and queen. To atone for his sins, the Bright family was ordered [to] take on the dark side of the Red Army's affairs forevermore."

Edgar on being the Jack of Hearts: "His occupation is scheming and assassination."

Edgar: "I was born a sinner. Every Jack of Hearts is doomed to embrace his wife with blood-soaked hands and lead his children down the same, dark path. He becomes a true demon."

Jonah (8) has a birthday party hosted by the Clemence family. No one realizes Luka (6) was not invited until the day of the event. Jonah throws a tantrum and brings Luka along anyway. Luka is allowed to stay but is seated furthest away from him. Jonah is instructed to stop crying and is ordered to keep smiling throughout the party, which he forcefully does. His face hurts so much once it’s over Jonah cries again afterward. (Jonah's Birthday Story Event I, Brotherly Love)

Edgar's father (?), the Jack of Hearts, dies a slow death. It is stated as illness but he was poisoned by his younger brother, Claudius (27).

Claudius regarding his older brother: "He was a coward who was satisfied to bend and scrape before the King of Hearts just because of some old pact. He could have used his strength, position, and riches for so much more. I must have told him that a thousand times, but he just didn't get it. That's why-- I had to eliminate him." (Edgar's route, part 25)

Regarding how Claudius killed his brother. Edgar: "But you told me my father died of an illness--" Claudius: "Making his death look like an illness was the simplest thing in the world. I taught you how to use slow-acting poison to finish off your prey, didn't I?" (Edgar's route, part 25)

Claudius becomes the next Jack of Hearts and takes custody of his nephew, Edgar (7).

Edgar: "When I was seven, my father died of illness and my uncle, then 27, became the next jack. He taught me everything a jack needs to know." (Edgar's Route, part 20)

Claudius teaching Edgar to not hold emotional attachments to others: "The first rule of the Jack of Hearts is to never grow attached to any of your pawns." (Edgar's route, part 21)

Example of how Claudius manipulates Edgar when they are in a disagreement (as seen when Edgar is 25 years old): "Edgar. Have you forgotten who raised you after your father died? You're a good boy, so I know you'll come to see the light. You would never abandon me, would you? You're my beloved son." (Edgar's route, part 21)

Edgar: "Suddenly, memories of my childhood flashed before my eyes. The days he [Claudius] spent 'educating' me in all the special skills I could never learn in school. The time he locked me in a tiny, dark room as punishment for crying when I was scared. No matter how much I shouted and pounded on the door, it wouldn't open. All I could do was hug my knees and sob." (Edgar's route, part 21, His POV)

Edgar: "Before I knew it, I had resigned myself to my fate. Eventually, my uncle's education seemed completely natural to me. And there was nothing I could do. I accepted the fact that I would never be free and got used to the boredom." (Edgar's route, part 21, His POV)

Claudius is Jack at the same time Lancelot’s father is the King of Hearts and the unknown Clemence relative is Queen

Edgar regarding Claudius’s time as Jack of Hearts: "The golden age of the Jack of Hearts's secret dealings was the time of the previous king, queen, and jack." (Edgar's Route, part 20)

(Thinking aloud: Was Claudius working with the King and Queen or was this “golden age” Claudius’s doing considering he still carries a side business after he steps down as Jack? His motive against his brother was in regards to taking ownership of the role as Jack. Claudius is a slave/servant to no one.)

Jonah (10), accepting abuse from bullies, is rescued by Lancelot (12), who steps in to protect Jonah and give the bullies a “taste of their own medicine.” While they had met before, this was the first time Jonah and Lancelot really talked

Jonah: "King Lancelot was only 12 years old then and had yet to claim his title, but he became my king in that moment. I decided that night to suport King Lancelot as his right-hand for the rest of my life." (Jonah's route, part 20)

On the first day of school, Jonah (13) rages at Sirius (16) over daring to be Lancelot's (15) friend. Harr (13) witnesses this exchange. Days later, Jonah challenges Sirius to a duel on the basis Sirius is not worthy of being Lancelot's friend. Jonah loses, and Lancelot consoles him afterwards. (Clash in Cradle Story Event, Queen Route)

Harr: "It all goes back to when we were all attending the same school together. I assume you've heard that the Queen of Hearts [Jonah] has idolized Lancelot since he was very young. Apparently he was very eager to finally be able to attend the same school as Lancelot. On his very first day at that school, the first thing he did was rush straight to see Lancelot. But when he got there, he saw Lancelot and Sirius standing side-by-side, talking and laughing like old friends."

Jonah to Sirius, per Harr: "'How dare this dolt of a farm-boy pretend to be a friend on equal terms with a man of Lancelot's standing!'"

Harr: "I happened to be passing by, and I saw him [Jonah] standing there, stiff and furious and red-faced, screaming those exact words at Sirius.”

Harr: "A few days later, he challenged Sirius to a duel, with the reason being that Sirius wasn't worthy of being Lancelot's friend. Jonah clearly took a great dislike to Sirius the moment he saw him. Jonah was 13 at the time, and Sirius was 16. When you're teenagers, 3 years is a really big age gap. Sirius defeated Jonah, and I can still remember the effort Lancelot had to put in to properly console him."

Harr (13/14) becomes friends with Lancelot (15/16) and Sirius (16/17) at school. The three of them are together for one year.

Sirius: "Back then, Harr was the younger, super bratty one, and Lance was the super serious honor student. They were my friends. My partners." (Sirius's Route, part 20)

Sirius: "The 3 of us only hung out together like that for about a year..." (Sirius's Route, part 20)

Harr (14) is recruited by the Magic Tower and leaves boarding school

Sirius: "Harr quit school when he was 14. His innate magical powers got him scouted. By the Magic Tower. After he went to the Magic Tower, he suddenly cut off all contact with us." (Sirius's Route, part 20)

12 years ago (Edgar's Route, part 20)

Edgar (13) begins helping Claudius, current Jack of Hearts, in the field

Edgar: "[My uncle] taught me everything a jack needs to know. And had me helping him in the field by the time I was 13."

Edgar on why he is so calm about this when he was 13, as explained at age 25: "...my uncle was only fulfilling his duty as the Jack of Hearts [by training him]. I didn't really care [about the things he was made to do while helping his uncle]. Humans don't get to choose who their parents are, after all. If you teach a child about 'scheming and assassination' from the time they're young, it just becomes a 'normal job' to them. Lying, deceiving, and killing-- I never batted an eye at the thought. I didn't feel anything."

Harr (16) barely escapes the Magic Tower with his life. He goes to the King of Hearts (Lancelot's father) and is summarily exiled from all of Cradle. He goes into hiding in the Forbidden Forest (Sirius's Route, Part 20)

Sirius: "After he went to the Magic Tower, he suddenly cut off all contact with us. Two years later, we finally got news-- In the form of those wanted posters... they decided to treat him as an enemy of the state." (Sirius's Route, part 20)

Sirius: "After Harr was banished, Lance's determination to end the conflict in Cradle grew stronger. He said he was going to become the King of Hearts so he could get rid of the rivalry between Red and Black. And then he was going to clear Harr's name. He said he was going to bring peace to Cradle, and make it a home that Harr could return to." (Sirius's route, part 20)

Harr: "Lancelot, did you know? Your father was the one who banished me from Cradle. After I learned the Magic Tower's secrets, I barely escaped with my life. I went to your father for help--and he cast me out." (Sirius's Route, part 20)

Ray (15) uses magic against assailants attacking/attempting to kidnap a group of students at his boarding school. After initial attempts to stop them physically, the situation escalates into an explosion of magic that can be heard across campus. Witnesses come upon a corridor full of students lying on the ground with Ray the one left standing. Ray is escorted away by a teacher and all witnesses are told not to talk about the incident. (Ray's route, part 17) (Fenrir’s Route, part 18)

The event is known as 'The Day That Went Dark'

Fenrir, confirming their ages: "But when Ray and I were both fifteen-- our school was attacked by someone, and-- a lot of the students were really badly injured.” (Fenrir’s Route, part 18)

Fenrir about the school: "Our boarding school was in the Central Quarter, and there were kids from both the Red and Black Territories there.” (Fenrir’s Route, part 18) He states this to confirm it is not a Red vs Black event.

Fenrir (15) overslept that morning and arrived to witness the aftermath

Fenrir: "I overslept that day, so I was running late. Right when I got to school I heard this huge explosion. I went rushing to where the sound came from, and I saw all these students lying on the ground. And in the middle of them was Ray. He'd been fighting alone, and he was a complete mess." "He-- it wasn't an injury, it was something worse." (Fenrir’s Route, part 18) The worse being Ray’s eyes had turned red and he had used magic.

Fenrir: "Even to this day, no one knows what happened. Not who the attackers were, or what their purpose was-- nothing. People started calling it 'The Day That Went Dark.'" (Fenrir’s Route, part 18)

The absence of the attackers probably means they weren’t as badly injured if they were at all injured, and were able to escape.

After the event, Fenrir does not see Ray again for an undetermined but notable amount of time. The next time they meet on the school rooftop, Fenrir says, "Hey, pal, Long time no see." (Ray's route, part 17)

Ray is deeply effected by the event and the relationship he has with his own magic: "Even if I try to protect someone, all I end up doing is hurting everyone involved. What am I doing? What the hell am I?" (Ray's route, part 17)

Zero (14) begins boarding school and meets Edgar (16/17), who is assigned to help orient him

Zero, when asked about for how long he's known Edgar: "It's crazy to think about, but it's already been eight years." (Edgar's Route, part 8/9)

Zero: "I first met [Edgar] at the boarding school he attended in the Central Quarter. I entered partway through the year. Actually, it was my first time attending school ever. Before that, I lived in the Magic Tower. It's a long story, but I left. So, at the age of 14, I was put into a boarding school in the Central Quarter. The school assigned Edgar the role of watching me, as well as helping me get used to school." (Edgar's Route, part 9)

Zero: "Edgar got top grades in every subject and all the teachers loved him. He was a total honor student." (Edgar's Route, part 9)

Zero: "Even when we were students, Edgar was already as good with a sword as the fencing instructor." (Edgar's Route, part 9)

Sirius (22) graduates and takes over the family business (flower farm + Canis Major flower shop)

Sirius: "At the time I had zero interest in joining [the Black Army]. When I graduated, I went home and took over the family business right away. But a year after I started working, I got an unexpected letter from Harr, who was still on the run." (Sirius’s route, part 20)

8 - 7 years ago (Loki’s Route, part 21)

Loki (11), during his 11th birthday party at the Genetta home, accidentally unleashes his magic power for the first time while trying to rescue a frightened stray cat that had wandered into the garden.

His magic burst out uncontrollably and destroyed half of his house and injured his friends and family.

His left eye took on a red tint after the incident.

Loki believes this all happened because his magic had been bottled up for so long

(Thought: This insinuates magic is presented much earlier in Cradle children.)

That same day, Loki's parents got in contact with the Magic Tower and agreed to have their son taken in by them.

Later that night, when a cold rain began to fall, his parents packed and abandoned Loki, despite him begging them not to leave him. The Disciples of Magic came and collected him from the ruined house.

The Magic Tower brought him in with the intention of using him in their experiments.

Disciple 1: "His powers are outstanding-- they may even be on par with Harr's."

Disciple 1: "There's no reason for you to ever go home. Your parents don't even want you anymore."

Unknown how long Loki spent in the Magic Tower

(NOTE: I am placing that Loki escaped after a year/less than a year because it matches with one of my earlier theories. Loki is also still noted as being a child by other characters when they first met him.)

After Loki "risked it all to escape, Harr found him."

Harr: "I'll take care of your pursuers from the Magic Tower. I saw them bringing you in. But you'll never have to step foot in that place again. Come with me. I promise I will keep you safe."

And Loki went with Harr and Harr kept his promise.

Kyle (16) and Lancelot (22) join the Red Army

Kyle: "Lance and I joined the army at the same time. So I've seen this [Lancelot passing out from using his magic] plenty of times before." (Lancelot's route, part 9)

Harr (20), in exile, sends letters to Lancelot (22) and Sirius (23). He asks them to meet him at the old ruins in the Forbidden Forest. Lancelot and Sirius are not informed the other will be there. The meeting goes south, Harr is chased back into the forest by Lancelot, and Lancelot and Sirius have a falling out. (Sirius’s route, part 20)

Sirius: "But a year after I started working [at the family flower shop], I got an unexpected letter from Harr, who was still on the run. It said 'I want to meet you, outside Cradle. We need to talk.' I didn't mind what his reasons were. I was just worried about him. So I followed the map he sent, and I ended up here [at the ruins]. But I got a surprise when I arrived. Lance was also here -- and he'd joined the Red Army not long before that." (Sirius's route, part 20)

Further notation that Lancelot is new to the Red Army, per Harr: "Lancelot. You've joined the Red Army now." (Sirius’s route, part 20)

Lancelot on his behavior towards Harr: "I couldn't tell Harr, either [about the collusion between the Red Army and the Magic Tower/Amon]. I didn't want him to get dragged any further into the red darkness that's plagued my family for generations. The Magic Tower was still after him, and I thought the only safe place for him was to stay outside Cradle." (Sirius's route, part 23)

Lancelot on his behavior towards Sirius: "And there's a very simple and obvious reason why I didn't tell you [Sirius] [about the situation with Amon]. You hate war, don't you? I don't care how suited your skills are to being a soldier, an army uniform has never suited you. An apron and a watering can--that's what suits you best." (Sirius's route, part 23)

Not long after this meeting, Sirius gives up on his dream to run the flower shop and joins the Black Army

Sirius either before or after he joins the BA: "I tried to find out what Harr meant by these secrets and ambitions, but-- I was never able to get close to the truth." (Sirius’s route, part 20)

Ray: "You know... Sirius had already been in the Black Army for years by the time Fenrir and I joined. And up until I joined, they'd been begging him non-stop to become the king." "But apparently he just kept turning them down. And the reason he gave was that he wasn't capable of it." (Sirius's route, part 12)

??? years ago (Lancelot’s Route, part 18)

The King of Hearts (Lancelot’s father) has been attempting to end the collusion between the Magic Tower and the Red Army for some time. (Unknown when these attempts began). He makes good progress with Jabberwock Sr. (Amon’s father)

Lancelot: "My father knew that Amon planned to rule this country, and he regarded him as dangerous. He was working to crush those evil ambitions..." (Sirius's route, part 23)

Amon (?) murders his own father and takes control of the Magic Tower. Then--

Amon extracts the King of Hearts’s soul, leaving him little better than a motionless doll

Lancelot: “Though he was technically alive, he was as good as dead.”

Before the day is done, Amon makes a surprise visit to Lancelot (?) at Red HQ, where they meet for the first time. Amon reveals how the relationship between the Red Army and the Magic Tower is going to work. Amon makes it clear Harr and Sirius’s souls will be taken if Lancelot hurts/kills Amon. The lives of Cradle are also being held hostage due to the Magic Tower’s stash of hidden Magic Crystals. Amon offers Lancelot the chance to join him in his work, to which Lancelot has no choice but to agree.

Amon corrects himself at this meeting from calling Lancelot “Lancelot” to “the King of Hearts"

Lancelot claims the throne as the King of Hearts and takes command of the Red Army

Lancelot: "When I succeeded my father, I swore an oath with Amon in my father's place. We'd rule Cradle together-- me publicly, and him behind the scenes. Amon told me that if I didn't swear that oath, he would burn this entire country to ash." (Sirius's route, part 23)

Lancelot: “I pretended to agree to his plan, hoping to get close to him and eventually catch him off guard. I was searching for his hidden cache of Magic Crystals so that I could destroy them all. But to manage that, I also needed him to believe that I was going along with him. That I shared his ambitions." (Sirius's route, part 23)

Amon, expecting Lancelot to betray him, has the Magic Tower make covert skirmishes against the Red Army and Lancelot over the years (Lancelot’s Route, part 24)

Amon: "You see, all those skirmishes I've instigated over the years were meant to drain you of your magical powers." Lancelot: "And you think I didn't realize that?" (Lancelot's route, part 24)

(Theory: these attacks are probably blamed on the Black Army.)

??? years ago

Kyle (?) finds Loki (?), who is passed out on the ground and a mess. Kyle notes that it seemed like Loki was on the run from something. It is their first meeting. (Loki’s route, part 14)

Kyle: "The reason [Loki] buddied up to me in the first place is-- I happened upon him after he had fainted from using too much magic. So I took care of him.”

(Food for thought: does this mean Kyle took Loki to his home to care for him or did he take Loki to the Red Army HQ infirmary?)

A general "years earlier" is given for time frame.

Loki and Kyle’s friendship begins

Luka (?) graduates and goes against Red Territory by joining the Black Army instead

Luka: "After graduation, I decided to join the Black Army. So, Ed and I became enemies." (Edgar’s route, part 19)

Edgar: "The Jack of Spades may be my enemy, but he is also my friend." (Fenrir's route, part 12)

Edgar (?) graduates, and at some point joins the Red Army

The process of replacing Claudius in the Red Army is unknown

Zero regarding Edgar leaving on “family business” from the Red Army: "This happens from time to time. He'll disappear for a day, but he'll be right back to work the next morning." (Edgar's Route, part 8)

Edgar regarding the Jack's pact with the King and Queen: "After those two [Lancelot and Jonah] took on their titles, they haven't issued an order for dark plots or assassinations." (Edgar's route, part 20)

Zero (?) graduates from boarding school and joins the Red Army despite having no lineage to speak of

Zero: "After we [Edgar and Zero] graduated, I had nowhere to go. Until he practically forced me to join the Red Army. I'm the person I am today because of him. Though I'm still not sure if I should be grateful or not." (Edgar's Route, part 9)

Civilians besiege the Red Army Headquarters

This is the event which earns Lancelot (?) the nickname the Beautiful Beast

Edgar: "A band of civilians once stormed the Red barracks trying to kill the soldiers. When the military holds all the power, it's pretty common for civilians to resent them. They took us by surprise, so there were quite a few casualties on our side. Until [Lancelot] showed up, saber in hand. And then the fight was over in mere moments."

Alice: "[Lancelot] took out all the attackers by himself?"

Edgar: "That's right. His swordsmanship was breathtaking -- even I thought so. He's incredibly strong even when he doesn't use magic. Almost seems unfair." (Lancelot's Route, part 12)

(THINKING ALOUD: Was it actually the civilians attacking due to unrest or was this another one of Amon’s traps? Lancelot not using magic would have thwarted Amon’s scheme if so...)

Half a month ago

Lancelot’s (29) father, the prior King of Hearts, is killed and his body is hung on the Black Bridge

Lancelot: “I found his corpse hanging from the Black Bridge, as if it was put there on display.” (Lancelot’s Route, part 18)

Ray: "Half a month ago Lancelot's father--the former King of Hearts--was murdered." (Jonah's Route, part 10)

Perpetrator unknown but Lancelot theorizes it was Amon

The reason for this murder was likely to fabricate a reason for the Red and Black Armies to fight. It works, and Lancelot uses it on Day 0 when declaring war.

Day 0

At a meeting in the Garden, Lancelot and the Red Army declare war on the Black Army

The armies have never gone to war before despite 500 years of conflict

The reason Lancelot gives is due to the murder of his father by the Black Army

Lancelot makes it clear he intends to absorb the Black Army into the Red Army

Later that night, Alice the Second falls into Wonderland, right into the Garden...

Biggest Coal Getters At Christmas In One Piece

As you know from this blog, I rag on the most hated characters in One Piece. At at this merry Christmas time, I want to show you all the biggest coal getters in this series.

12. Stelly

With being such an arrogant, self-important, entitled, and asshole brat, Sabo’s adoptive brother, Stelly, makes the first on the list on our naughty list. One has to feel sorry for the Gao kingdom for being ruled over such a spoiled king, who even thinks he can order Garp around because he’s originally from there.

11. Wapol

Another king on this list, but one who also is the president of his own toy company is Wapol. Like Stelly he was quite a horrible ruler when he was ruling Drum Kingdom, especially when he left the island to fend for itself when Blackbeard invaded and horded all the doctors so he could force people to pay high prices for them. Though he is currently living high now with his new kingdom gifted by the World Nobles, Santa still is going to leave a nice lump that fits his dark heart.

10. Judge

Just like with the earlier two entries, we have another asshole ruler and this one is the father of Strawhat member, Sanji. The ruler of the Germa 66, a seafaring kingdom that is notorious for conquering islands and being paid assassins, he is a social darwanist, who caused great abuse to Sanji throughout his childhood because he turned out normal. The only reason why he wanted Sanji back into his life was to cement an alliance with Big Mom by offering him as a groom for her daughter, Pudding, which turned out to be a trap because the Yonko planned to kill him and the other Vinsmokes off to get their technology. And at the wedding when the Big Mom Pirates’ true colors are showed, all that previous super macho bravado is melted away to reveal a sniveling coward who cries when someone puts him into the situation that he put others under. And for that the Germa clones will shoveling a lot of coal for a while.

9. Spandam

This guy is the poster child on why we should have anti-neoptism laws. A snively cowardly shit Spandam when he was head of the CP9 tortured Robin all the while she was under his captivity, while arrogantly believing his CP agents were untouchable. He also has little regard for human life when he accidentally triggered the buster call and didn’t care that his subordinates could die. He even called them needed sacrifices. He was also the reason why Tom, Iceburg and Franky’s mentor, was killed due to a frame up job he did in order to obtain the Pluton from him. It’s a bit karmic seeing him be forced to take orders from his former subordinate, Lucci, but even then the clumsy klutz should trip on his black pile of gifts he will get.

8. Hody Jones

Think Arlong, but with none of his few redeeming qualities. Although Hody can be said to be a product of his environment, he’s still a nasty racist shit, who should rot in the jail cell he was put in at the end of his starring arc. With his New Fishman Pirates, they planned on taking over the kingdom and go to Reverie where they planned to massarce everyone there. However, the worst thing he’s done is assassinate Queen Otohime, because she dared to try to aim to bring peace between humans and seafolk. If you think there can be a reason for his racism, then he would answer it himself: “nothing”. Nothing happened to him to make him hate humans personally he just grew up with the toxic belief that hating humans was justified. And for that Hody spends Christmas in a jail cell, while sharing it with the number of coals that can keep him and the other withered New Fishman Pirates company.

7. Mother Carmel

To the world (and to this day, Big Mom), Mother Carmel was a saintly figure who fostered peace between humans and giants plus opened up an orphanage for children of all races. However, underneath that facade lied a wicked slaver, who pretended to be a grandmotherly figure in order to sell children to the highest dollar. Her famed action of stopping the Elbaf crew from being executed was a staged event in order to gain the trust of the giants. Her most notable so-called prized asset was Charlotte Linlin (who would later become Big Mom), who to this day doesn’t know her foster mother never truly loved her and saw her as merchandise to be sold. Even though she’s a deceased character, she certainly deserves to have her stockings filled to the brim with stone, cold coal.

6. Blackbeard

Although he’s more of a love to hate example, we all know that Blackbeard deserves to be on this list. For one thing, if you want to know why the post-timeskip is chaotic as it is it’s thanks to this guy. He for years pretended to be a loyal member of Whitebeard’s crew and acted like one of the family knit setting. However, it’s all an at to get at the Yami Yami No Mi/Dark Dark Fruit. He killed one of his own brothers/crewmates, then went off to form his own crew where he fought Ace and got him handed over to the Marines, so that he could become a Warlord and get into Impel Down. There during the breakout he recruited level six members to his crew, then used them to kill his former captain and father figure Blackbeard. And postimeskip he has been shown to now be hunting down devil fruit users for his fellow crew. There is a reason why people say he’s the anti-Luffy and what a real non-romanticized pirate is like. So, I have a feeling Santa will be stopping by on Hive Island with some hefty packages that could fit his namesake.

5. Ceasar Clown

Although he’s shown as a butt monkey after his first appearance, the record of his misdeeds cannot be forgotten. On his island he kept children captive after a mole in the marines lied to their parents about them dying at sea, which he then proceeded to experiment on them with drugged candy which made them grow giant sized and shorten their live spans. All the while pretending he was actually curing them when he couldn’t give a shit. He also is notorious for making chemical weapons of mass destruction which is used by amoral individuals like the Beast Pirates. In other words, Santa strap this asshole to a big lump of coal and drown him.

4. Doflamingo

One of the most popular villians in the series is Donquixote Doflamingo, former Warlord, top broker, and King Of Dressrosa. Man, you could have a long list of all the shit he’s pulled throughout his career and life. On the outside he might look like a gaudy Elton John rip off, but on the inside bleeds one of the scariest and ruthless characters in the series. No wonder because he was born of the World Nobles, who are a sociopathic and psychotic bunch. From his take over to Dressrosa to funding Ceasar Clown’s research, he certainly can make you scared of the color pink. And that is why we have to heep this birds feathers with a black sheen.

3. Orochi

While Doffy is pretty to look at and is flamboyantly fun, Orochi just embodies “hate sink” stereotypes. He’s just made to be obvious that this guy is not going to be a good person. Spoilers ahead: I know he was influenced into becoming an asshole but he is still an asshole who sold out his country for his own benefit. Not to mention currently it was shown he was heavily implied to be the one who killed Suriyaki and lied to everyone about being named a successor with the help of that strange woman. His 20 years of terror have caused nothing but hurt to everyone under his rule as he causes a famine due to the occupying forces of the Beast Pirates. All of his because he believed he was entitled like his grandfather to be Shogun. He also wastes food, as his country is starving and feeds a whole village of hungry people failed “Smiles” so that they can quit crying about their dead loved ones. I know Santa would know of a way to get into this closed off country, so that he can deliver this shistain a coal that is as big as a mountain.

2. Kaido

Here is the man of thousand beasts and leader of the Beast pirates. Even though Blackbeard himself is no saint, he doesn’t seem to want to destroy the world like Kaido does. An unstoppable juggernaut, he sees suicide as a way to kill boredom and is often on his ass drunk. He’s ruled over Wano through Orochi for 2 decades, as he has decimated it into a famine wide place except the capitol where the rich and his toadie lives. He uses the land to function his own war effort and has caused many of the Wano people to go through great periods of grief. Like with Blackbeard, he’s an unromanticed version of what a pirate is really like. So, Kaido be prepared for Onigashima to reign coal like it’s no tomorrow.

1. World Nobles (Celestial Dragons)

By default, you know these shitty bastards would top the list. The biggest reason because of the fact that they are above the law and are allowed to do anything they like because they are so-called “gods”. They treat the general population like crap, while blatantly owning slaves when it was supposed to have been illegalized 2 centuries ago. They are also supported by a thing called heavenly tribute which country of the world government has to give continuously, lest they get kicked out and have no way of defending themselves from pirates or slave traffickers. So I can say the biggest coal getters go to these fat pigs in their towers. Better yet they should coal statues made in (dis)honor of them.

Y/N and Bucky’s relationship hadn’t always been the cutest. There was a time, a year and about 6 or 7 months ago where she would irritate him to no end. It was like, a combination of Sam and Peter, but all in one person. She made him watch TV, she teased him and constantly called him a little lost puppy but became one of his best friends. When he first got introduced to Y/N she was shy, and she was quiet. She was good at her job, she kept to herself, but she had certain people she was close to, well everyone yet she was still so quiet. She hung out a lot with Bruce because of how calm she was, they had their own TV shows they’d only watch together. They would binge TV endlessly, old series, as well as new series it was their thing.

She had similar music tastes to Sam, and whenever she got a little tipsy, even the smallest amount, she would be up there doing karaoke with him. They were awful together, but they gave everyone a good laugh, and music allows them to express themselves.

Natasha, Wanda and Y/N, they were like sisters, whenever they had girls trips, whether it's to the spa, the shooting range, or even shopping, the girls always giggled like they had little secrets, Hill often involved with these trips and in on these secrets as she was the same to them.

She was young compared to some of the Avengers, she understood what memes were and she understood Peters humour. The two of them constantly tagged one another in memes on Instagram, they almost spoke another language when around one another, and although there was an age difference between them, she still understood, apparently her having little brothers and sisters helps.

She also had a somewhat weird relationship with Vision and Scott. With Vision, she often helped him plan date nights for him and Wanda, and when it came to Scott, they again had similar levels of humour. Apparently dad jokes are the worst, but they can still make people laugh.

Thor, he could get on with anyone, and Y/N was no exception. She taught him mundane things and he always told her his most exciting stories. She got him addicted to tiny little fairy cakes. He always asked for them whenever he returned from Asgard, and seeing Thor in the kitchen, with flour all over himself made people wonder if he actually is as powerful as he says he is.

Barton had known her for years, he essentially trained her, before she was an avenger he trusted her to babysit his kids. He helped save her family and motivated her to use her unique skillset further which resulted in her joining shield before she joined the Avengers after a few missions with them.

Tony was like a father figure to her, or maybe like an uncle figure. He, the same as Clint had known her for a long time, since just after he became Iron man. Their conversations were always deep and meaningful, she made him see sense when no one else could, well until Steve could. But still, their relationship was something special.

And with Steve, he could get on with anyone, he had a soft spot for Y/N, just like everyone else has. He saw some of himself in here, especially pre-serum Rogers. Her internal strength and integrity. And they also spoke about sport a lot, she helped him get more with it in terms of the 21stcentury.

So overall Y/N was close to everyone, someone who is quiet, innocent, and capable of getting the job done. Someone who works hard, and when Y/N met Bucky. She saw someone who didn’t want to communicate with anyone other than Steve and Sam. Once the Winter Soldier was out of him he was still quiet and reserved but done well on missions.

When they were first introduced, he almost walked around with a warning sign that screamed, ‘Don’t talk to me, I’m a brooding scary killer machine’. It didn’t intimidate her in the slightest, although Clint had made a joke the first time she met him,

“He’s the opposite of friendly Y/N. He’s unfriendly. As in don’t be friends with him”

She just looked at Clint, “He’s just acting. Look at him, he’s like... he’s like a puppy. A puppy doesn’t scream unfriendly, a puppy screams, ‘be my friend’”

Clint just rolled his eyes with a snort, “Well, just remember he’s not like everyone else”

Y/N just nodded at that staring at him, he was sat on the couch with Steve, he looked slightly uncomfortable to be surrounded by everyone, “You’re not like everyone else either Barton. No one is like anyone”

“We’re talking about someone who’s capable of killing anyone within seconds”

“And how long does it take you to kill someone?” She asked him,

“Touché” He muttered,

Y/N just smiled in success, “It’s ok, I’ll prove you wrong, and I’ll be able to be his friend. Just give it time” She said to Clint, he just groaned in response knowing that this is Y/N, she knows her boundaries when it comes to being friends with someone. And she’s going to push those boundaries now.

It was almost like a personal mission for Y/N. She hadn’t told anyone aside from Barton her plans, and that was to become Bucky’s friend. Whether he liked it or not. She could be anyone’s friends, and he really is a lost little puppy no matter how intimidating he is.

When they first spoke she showed no fear, she didn’t have any hostility, and instead welcomed him with a warm smile, “Y/N can make anyone happy. And she knows a lot that can help us get up to date, a little less sarcastic than the kid, a little more with it when it comes to current trends” Steve explained to Bucky.

Bucky just nodded, “Nice to meet you” He grumbled, but little did he know, that was just the start. This small, innocent, and quiet Y/N was about to literally ruin his life for the better and make him believe in love again. It was going to suck, but it was going to be amazing.

It took a while for him to even remotely warm up to her. But day in day out, she just smiled greeted him and had some small talk. It got to a point where the small things made him smile, she knew his coffee order from the local Starbucks, it was a basic black coffee, but she encouraged him to try a few different ones. Each day she watched his facial expressions changed as she handed him his coffee and he drank it.

So far all the stronger ones were more to his liking, and the weaker ones, he pulled a face at but secretly preferred. It’s because he’s a little puppy who acts tough but really isn’t. Well, maybe a little. But still.

Although he didn’t show it, on the inside it made him happy, she took time out to get to know him. She also introduced her to her favourite films. And the best films... in her opinion.

“Did fetch ever become a thing?” He grimaced one day.

“As a joke, sure. But, in the film, there are so many iconic lines.” He just nodded at that, “Can we watch something that’s not as... bitchy?”

I snorted at that but put on The Godfather, Bruce had joined them at this point, handing Y/N the popcorn, and Bucky the Twizzlers. Bucky took them and stared at Bruce in shock, but instead, the three of them sat there watching the film.

Each day the two got closer, everyone noticed this and whenever Clint noticed, he would shake his head and laugh a little. Tony had told her to be careful, and everyone else was shocked at how he was so easily coming out of his shell to become friends with you.

“I promise you, this film is one of the best things ever,” She said to him,

“You said that about Toy Story. And it was great, but it made you emotionally attached to Toys Y/N. Toys!” He said putting emphasis on how he got upset because of the final scene in Toy Story Three.

Y/N just grinned, “This is different, The Lion King will warm your heart,” She said,

Bruce had scoffed at that, he never watched the film with her, it was emotional. It made grown men, women and assassins cry. It made Bucky cry.

“I’m never trusting you again” He grumbled to her as the film ended and pride rock was happy again.

She was laying down, her head in his lap, and she looked up at him. “Oh come on Bucky. It was amazing. You’ve gotta admit that. I remember when I watched this at the theatre. Ok that’s a lie, I don’t remember but I know that I was taken to watch it”

“You know Y/N, I’ve been through a very traumatic life, couldn’t we do something that’s I don’t know... less traumatic?”

Through the majority of the film, Bucky was playing with Y/Ns hair, the gesture relaxing for the both of them. Her hair was soft, and she was soft. Bucky enjoyed spending time with her because she didn’t look at him like he was broken. She looked at him with respect, she wasn’t afraid of him. And she showed him how to have fun, what the best thing to do in this day and age are.

So instead she introduced him to karaoke, Sam was the first one there with them, and Bucky was still so quiet that she had to sing his part with him. He didn’t realise when they first met that she was like this. That she was this outgoing person, especially when its only a few of them. In big groups, she’s the quietest one there, but then in smaller groups, she can be the loudest, she can have this aura around her that is happiness, that makes Bucky smile. He looks at her and he saw someone that had fought to break down his walls, this created such a close friendship between them. Steve was happy, happy to see someone so innocent and so pure teach bucky that he’s just as innocent as she is in terms of life and death. But also teaching him how to be happy again.

Their friendship developed further, but it was Bucky that took it one step further, that took them beyond friendship and instead something that no one else shared, he asked her on a date. They went to go watch a Broadway show, The Lion King to be exact. Apparently Tony helped him with the tickets, and the night was perfect, they went for food, went to watch the show and it made Y/N realise that Bucky was different. Different to anyone she ever knew. And Bucky knew that was different than anyone he had ever know. She had hidden qualities that no dame he’d ever met in his hundred years had.

It was that night he asked her to be his girlfriend, and from then on things became so much more different. She had broken down his walls, he hadn’t ever realised he could feel this way about someone, that he could love someone the way he does Y/N. Because he loves Y/N and couldn’t imagine his life without her.

Bucky had changed overall since the two had gotten together, after being friends for 6 months, and then a couple, he got more comfortable with everyone. He expressed his feelings, he sung on his own for karaoke and he recommended movies on nights where everyone was watching films together.

The two always cuddled, if not then her head was in his lap. They showed affection in small manners that meant a lot to one another, neither of them were outgoing in big groups, they preferred to stick together.

The first time Bucky said I love you to Y/N was something she would never forget. They’d been together for 3 months approximately, Tony had thrown an extravagant party, they’d all dressed up in their best ball gowns, their best suits and tuxedos. And it was an elegant event. Bucky looked breathtaking, his beard neatly trimmed, his hair was loose, and he looked amazing. Just as Y/N had in his eyes, she left her hair natural, put on enough makeup to make it look elegant, and wearing her favourite outfit. Bucky loved her, he just knew that he loved her. She was at the bar when two arms wrapped around her waist, she felt the coolness of the metal to know it was bucky, and the way he lightly kissed her neck,

“My beautiful doll” He murmured into her ear, “Your dress looks beautiful, but it would look better on my bedroom floor”

Y/N let out a laugh at this and turned around to face him, “Well then you’ll have to woo me tonight Barnes” She replied back before kissing his lips,

The night was as elegant as Stark could’ve hoped it would be. Everyone enjoyed it, there was no drama and towards the end of the night everyone was slow dancing,

Y/N was in Bucks' arms, the two swaying to the music, “Hey” He muttered getting her attention, she looked up at him, and the look on his face made her go weak at the knees. His eyes held so much love and emotion, it was in that moment she knew that she was so in love with this man, that she has no idea how life would be without him.

“Hey” She murmured back,

“I love you” He whispered resting his forehead against her, this caused a smile to breakout onto her lips before she kissed him, “Good” she muttered between kisses before standing back and looking into his eyes, “Because I love you too”

From there on the two often shared those words between themselves. Soon their routines became similar, they shared a room, shared the love between one another. Y/N still spent her time with the others, but she had special time for Bucky, despite how immature he could be, he still had the face of a puppy.

“You know, you’re adorable when you’re mad” She teased whilst pinching his cheek and walking around him to grab some coffee,

He had a pout on his face and looked like a kicked puppy, “I can literally kill you” He grumbled,

She let out a laugh at that, “Ok, just a warning, you’ll miss me” She said sticking her tongue out.

He sighed and still had that pout on his face, someone had eaten his favourite cereal, he didn't know how to take it. Although everyone knew it was Sam, Sam still denied it especially because he just wanted to eat.

“How about this” She started, “Let's go out for breakfast”

He immediately agreed and decided after breakfast they were going to get some more cereal from the store and they were going to hide it from Sam.

She agreed with him and went to get ready taking her mug with her, she’ll have plenty of space to drink some more.

From that morning on, at least once a month they went for breakfast, each time trying someplace new, and each time trying to make sure the place was aesthetical enough for Y/N to get a pic for the gram. Bucky was baffled but agreed and she made him her personal photographer. As someone who couldn’t use a phone, Bucky had become a pro at taking photos of Y/N, he was also a pro at having candid photos of himself being taken. She never told him, only if they were going on her Instagram she asked first. But between the two, they tried to cherish every moment.

It was a year into their relationship and on their anniversary when Bucky had to teach Steve how to take the perfect photo as he had been over the past year. Well, he started teaching him a while before, telling Tony to teach his man how to get with technology, and somehow Bucky had managed to get the perfect shot, the background all perfect, and Steve knowing when and where to take the right photo.

Bucky spent time near the lakes creating the perfect scene for the two of them, a candlelit dinner where they would celebrate their one year anniversary for when both of their lives changed for the better.

Y/N had no clue about any of this, she wasn’t even sure what to buy Bucky for their anniversary, she had panicked and gone to Natasha and Wanda. They gave some suggestions, and eventually, she settled on a watch with the date they got together engraved on the back along with their initials.

But he, he had gone above and beyond. She was dressed in a cute outfit, not underdressed but not overdressed, he told her they were going for dinner, she was happy ,what she hadn’t expected was the walk from the compound to the river to have rose petals as a path, to get there and to see beautiful fairy lights and flowers around the beautifully lit gazebo. It was still bright outside so the light pinks of the sky,

“Bucky” She whispered, “Its beautiful,” She said turning to look at him, her heart in her throat, she felt overwhelmed with happiness,

He led the way to the table, and they both sat down and ate. They reminisced over the year, and the 6 months before they got together. How she used to tease him endlessly, how they became best friends and how they fell in love. They ate food prepared by a chef of Tony’s, and the listened to music off of their favourite soundtrack.

When the table had been cleared they stood and danced in the sunset, before he started his speech.

“Y/N” Bucky started while slowly swaying around with her,

Her head was rested on his chest and she hummed back a reply, “What's up bucky?” She murmured,

He felt like she could feel his rapid heartbeat, he had never felt so nervous in his life. Nothing had prepared him for this singular moment,

“I um...” He started, “You know I love you right?”

“Yes Bucky” She said looking up at him slightly confused to see the nerves on his face, “And you know I love you too”

He took a deep breath before standing back, he let go of her waist and dropped to one knee, as he did her hands covered her mouth when she realized what he was doing.

“When we first met Y/N, you annoyed me like no one else did, you kept on breaking down these barriers, and all I could think is how can someone this innocent and shy, create such havoc in someone's life. But it slowly made me fall in love with you, each day we spent together I learnt more and more about you. You became my best friend, someone who wasn’t afraid of me, and someone who gave me a new lease on life.

You’re it for me Y/N, and I can’t do this without you. I had a long ass speech planned, but doll, seeing you stood there, in your pretty dress, looking at me with those pretty Y/E/C eyes, I just know that I wanna spend the rest of my life with you. I want to wake up every day beside you, I want to have a family with you, a life with you Y/N. So, ‘Y/N’ ‘Y/M/N’ ‘Y/S/N’, will you marry me?” He asked showing her the beautiful ring,

As he finished speaking tears were brimming at the corner of his eyes, but YN was in full bouts of tears, and nodded, “Yes, Bucky.” She sobbed out, “Yes I will marry you. Oh my gosh, of course, Bucky” She said,

Her answer caused relief to flush across his body as he stood up and engulfed her into a hug before the two of them kissed, Bucky had forgotten that he had gotten Steve to take photos of this moment, he had forgotten the nerves he felt before, he had forgotten how long it took to plan this night, and he forgot his script, but it was all worth it to have Y/N in his arms right now as his fiancé.

“I love you so much Bucky” She whispered grabbing his face in her hands,

“I love you too Y/N” He replied back both their eyes closed and their foreheads resting against one another’s.
