My remarks: A superb slice of life fic in which we see the otp through the eyes of ten. So, so wonderful and emotional ❤️

My remarks: A short and sweet introspective piece on the immediate aftermath of the beach scene.

3. Hunger by @metacrisisdoctor (E)

Author's summary: His hands are out his pockets milliseconds later. He walks over to her in three large steps and cups her face in her hands and pulls her mouth to his. It's a hard, bruising kiss. It's a kiss he's held in far too long. It's the kiss of a man who stood at the grave of the woman he loves, and has been gifted with her resurrection.

My remarks: An incredibly in character exploration of how the OTP's first time could've gone down. A shot of serotonin. They ended up together!!!

Author's summary: Not long after being left on Bad Wolf Bay, the Doctor and Rose quietly contemplate why their relationship has yet to progress.

My remarks: An endearing and filled to the brim with good ol' pining take on early days of tentoo x rose; includes a drunk!Doctor and a bar fight 👀

My remarks: The absolute CUTEST kid fic you will read featuring the Tyler family today. Contains like, illegal levels of soft.

My remarks: Compelling character study of the Doctor and how vulnerable being human makes him!

8. Bad Wolf Rising by @wyntereyez *

Author's summary: Werewolves thrive in Pete’s World, and they’re determined to bring about the Empire of the Wolf.

My remarks: This fic is, tragically, incomplete as of now, but it's probably one of the most engaging chapter 1's i've EVER read, and i am DYING to know what the author had in store!! Featuring an extremely in character Pete's world ensemble and a very House MD-ish Doctor who's been permanently injured, and werewolves, this fic is definitely worth a click!

Author's summary: She should've known. Like, she really should have known. Maybe it was just that she'd gotten sort of complacent, sort of used to the comfortable domesticity of their new life. Maybe she was just a fool. But he made it so easy to forget. When he folded her socks and handed her plates of banana pancakes and grumbled at the remote control, how could she not? How could she be expected to remember? That the Doctor was, at his core, incredibly reckless and fundamentally stupid.

My remarks: An incredible and humourous take on the 'handcuffed together' trope!

Author's summary: Christmas dinner in the Tyler household is hectic but joyful nonetheless. Rose finds her mind wandering to the Doctor, but not the one that sits beside her.

My remarks: Short and sweet, with a perfect hint of angst concerning the time-lord Doctor.

Author's summary: "You were easily convinced, you just couldn't resist me." Rose jabbed at him with a teasing voice. Though she never really knew when he fell in love with her and neither did he. It sort of just happened. So it really wasn't a surprise when he said sincerely, "No, I really couldn't."

My remarks: Captures an incredibly tender moment of dancing in the kitchen for these two ❤️

Author's summary: A day in the life of Rose and TenToo. There’s something that Rose isn’t telling the Doctor…

My remarks: SO FLUFFY. Makes you want to melt.

14. Opposition of the Stars by @abadplanwellexecuted (E)

Author's summary: Post-Journey's End, first night in a hotel in Norway fic. Rose and the Metacrisis Doctor end up sharing a hotel room, and walls come tumbling down.

My remarks: When i tell you my SOUL left my body upon seeing this notification!! Written as it is by one of the all time greats, of course this fic is incredible!

15. Stargazing by @elialys

Author's summary: He's not cradling her bump tonight, nor has he pressed his lips to her tense skin to murmur words she cannot hear, only feel. He’s using one finger on her, the tip of it gently tracing patterns on the curve of her stomach. At first, she wonders if he’s spelling letters, trying out the few names they’re considering for her, but Rose quickly dismisses the idea, not recognizing any letter—nothing English. What he’s drawing isn’t random, though. There is intent in the way his fingertip slowly moves upon her.

My remarks: Intimate and tender and brilliant. Forever manifesting your return to Doctor Who😭😭😭

LIKE YES WE GOT TO SEE TCW ANAKIN AND TCW AHSOKA IN LIVE ACTION BUT IT ALSO ADDED TO THE STORY AND GAVE US CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT FOR AHSOKA AND SAID YEAH, THE FUN TONE OF CLONE WARS WAS BC THE CHARACTERS COULDN'T DEAL WITH IT ANY OTHER WAY. THEY WERE PEACEKEEPERS AND CHILD SOLDIERS WATCHING FRIENDS DIE ON THE DAILY AND IF THEY DIDNT JOKE THEN THE GRIEF WOULD TAKE OVER. LIKE ITS POINTING OUT LOOK THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS IN WAR AND IF AHSOKA DOESN'T END THIS THEN JACEN WILL HAVE TO BE LIKE HER AND HIS FATHER AND I AM ONCE AGAIN BITING AT THE DRYWALL. IT DIDNT JUST GIVE CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT IT GRABS YOU BY THE FACE AND SAYS THE RETURN OF THE EMPIRE IS SERIOUS. WAR IS SERIOUS. ITS NOT THE CARTOON YOU GREW UP WITH.

AND ALL OF ANAKIN JUST GESTURES TO ALL OF THAT. HAYDEN SLAYED SERVED CUNT THROUGHOUT HE'S SUCH A GREAT ANAKIN NOW HE HAD SO MUCH RANGE TO THE CHARACTER AND THE FLICKERING ANIVADER AND RED LIGHTSABER. HE'S BOTH AT ONCE AND AHSOKA HAS TO ACCEPT THIS AND IM EATING DRYWALL AGAIN.

calming down for 2 seconds the cinematography was great this episode and the pacing was a definite improvement from ep1, which filoni also directed! this played into his directing strengths a lot better w the action and emotion. i won't lie i'm still not sold on the show as a whole i do think eps 1-3 were okay i guess, 4 was a step up and 5 is like. wow ok go girl. also the way they used anivader in this episode made me rlly sad for the kenobi show bc that show should've been smthn like this, using him as a vision for obi-wan's development instead of the villain of the show bc thats a tired fight but hey! this is abt ahsoka not kenobi i digress. SPEAKING OF loved how it was actually ABOUT the titular character for once. anyway. going insane. i don't have too much faith the show can keep this up but i'll be happy if it can reach smthn close to this as it goes on

Okay so I have a lot of thoughts. Ant-Man: Quantumania spoilers

This.

Okay. I love the first Ant-Man movie. It's a comfort film, it's what made me watch the rest of the MCU. So you can imagine my utter lack of enthusiasm when I was told that quantumania was going to be large scale. Scott, is small scale. He just wants to be a good dad to Cassie and ogle at all the handsome guys he sees when he meets up with avengers.

He's a light character. He's optimistic. He's the comedic relief in every guest star he's in. His lightness works so well to keep people, viewer and villain alike, underestimating him. It has always been used to give him the upper hand both emotionally and intellectually. Knowing this? Makes Kang's introduction—because that's what this really is, Kang The Conqueror not He Who Remains, is why this movie was made—all the more perfect. Well, it would've been had the writers given it the chance that was so clearly there, had they tried to give it focus.

Kang was mostly a mysterious figurehead who spoke of horrors and wars and destroyed little children's worlds like Sylvie’s for the "sacred timeline" with just the promise of more of his destruction if variations were allowed. That is what I've always considered to be his Thanos introduction. His single appearance in Loki was Kang's version of the multiple teasers throughout phases 1-3 that Thanos had. It was faster, more efficient and more powerful because it told you exactly what he is capable of without making you figure it out or wait. It told you he is the end, no half of the universe no half of our heroes will survive. He did it all in a single episode. He did it all to make you know, so when we next see him we can feel.

Kang and Scott are extreme contrasts. They are light and dark personified. Their power difference ("you're out of your league") is so severe that they don't just not belong in the same fight they don't belong in the same movie. And that's exactly why Scott was the perfect person to introduce Kang.

Scott, while incredibly intelligent and did outsmart the forced field Kang set up, and did destroy the power source, is physically helpless to Kang. He was stepped on, broken and bloodied in just a few seconds under Kang's strength. Just his body's strength. And as Scott was forced to ground Kang looked at him in pity. Kang pitied the man he was killing because it was, laughably, inevitable. Scott has no way of winning. He knew that and said so himself. He knew the only way to get rid of Kang was to lose, for them both to lose and—isn't that a thought. "Our hero was entirely helpless, he could only get rid of Kang if he also lost, are all our hero's going to be helpless? Lose everything to Kang. Is that the only way to be rid of him?" This is how it should've felt at the end of quantumania to properly build the foundation for phase 5.

These two would've been able to bring the full fright and might of the upcoming Kang Dynasty had marvel let the movie be an Ant-Man movie. Quantumania should have been allowed to be like it's previous two in the franchise and been a comedy, had focused on what made this franchise shine: it's relationships: Scott and Cassie, Scott and Hank, Luis and Kurt, the blended family; the light even in the darkest of times. Instead it focused on the VanDyne women. Mainly Janet. Having the focus on Janet, her mysterious-past-arch with knives and fights and guns and the morbidity of being lost from your loved ones—while admittedly intriguing and worth exploring sometime else—that complete lack of light stole that weight the scale put upon this movie desperately needed. And Hope demanded darkness in her scenes with her curiosity of what horrors took her mother from her and ripped her father from her emotionally for years (and this is all interesting and important for her character/viewer and should be expanded upon further and could even be paralleled with Cassie so we can eventually see a bond between those two). However for this film to work, she needed to either learn how to finally accept light with her parents and Scott alike, or have already accepted it. Her scenes with Scott were extremely sweet, I will admit, but her relationship with her parents were more the focal point since the very beginning. Cassie, Hank, and Scott carried the lightness, but it wasn't enough to balance out the scale with the sheer severity of Kang's darkness, and the VanDyne women's additions.

Seeing Janet and Kang interact made me lose the fear of Scott dying. I shouldn’t have lost that fear. Focusing on Janet being relatively fine (considering), and physically unharmed the whole movie, and having escaped Kang even after having destroyed his entire pursuit in life for years eliminated any fear of Scott dying. I walked into the movie believing he was doing to die, and I walked out thinking I was crazy for even entertaining the idea. I shouldn’t lost that fear. We shouldn’t lose the fear of the man who threatened us with multiversal war in Loki. If they used Janet’s and Kang’s bond when he was banished and she was alone, not to show how cool Janet is (though yes she absolutely is for outsmarting and trapping him), but to parallel Janet to Scott it would’ve helped not only the film’s pacing but also to connect the viewer to Kang.

Thanos, he had a reason. His purpose was perhaps one of the simplest motivations to understand. Kang, however, has an infinite amount of variants. What we know so far is that he wants power, he wants to conquer. When he’s done all that he wants to conquer himself; hence the war that started the scared timeline. But. Why did one of his variants decide to stop this? What would cause this variant to suddenly become guilt ridden, compassionate, tired of himself and his suffering he both experiences and causes? Kang is complex. He’s so very interesting. But how can we as the viewers even begin to care about this man who, whenever we see a sympathetic variant, gets killed off (Sylvie, Scott) before we can see why? Why did he change? Why would we care if we’re denied the opportunity to learn.

Paralleling Janet to Scott and only through the eyes of Kang would’ve given the casual viewer the opportunity to ask why. Kang bonded with Janet over her kindness in saving his life, he valued her’s because of it. He wanted to eliminate her pain and bring her home to her daughter. But once she saw who he was she left and tried to stop him. That’s exactly what Scott is trying to do here. Get home to earth and protect his daughter, stop Kang when he tries to hurt others. If Kang saw this and still tries kill him? Still tries to hurt everyone for his “great mission”? It would make Kang so much more approachable to understand. You would want to know why he would still hurt people he saw value in. He considers them good, yet he kills, and still sees himself as good?

Ugh I don’t know. I feel like this franchise was the perfect one to introduce the Kang Dynasty but they just didn’t do it well. And they didn’t do it justice to the original Ant-Man or any of its characters.

The Emperor's New Muse Part .5

Odyssey Kayn x Reader

content: coming up with a 'how to save the universe' plan, some "bonding" time with the members, and finally a more definite backstory to our character.

A/N: Apologies for the delayed post this should've come out earlier but I've been struggling with a bit of writer's block because I am making this whole story up as I go gliding by the seat of my ass or however that saying goes. Anyway, I hope it's worth the wait! Knowing that at least a few of you are invested really helped me keep going so thank you all!!

And that's how you came to become the newest recruit member of the Morningstar, and also how you found out about the universe's impending doom.

You gave Sona a judgemental side eye, like... really? You plan on saving the universe with these people!? The Templar, however, ignored your stare and continued to look out the window with her back turned to you. Looking as mysterious as ever.

Currently, the Morningstar was blindly traveling through deep space. Destination: unknown, as long as it was as far away from Kayn and his locus armada. So far there was no sign of them on your tail, you could relax for now.

"So what's the plan? on saving the universe?" you ask looking towards the front of the ship where Jinx was goofing off in the pilot's seat doing anything but actually steering the ship, Yasuo was close by at the control center holo screen.

"We're currently in the drafting stage of our master universe-saving plan" Jinx says while tinkering away at something you assumed was highly hazardous.

"Seriously? you guys don't have a plan yet? What have you been doing this whole time?" It was hard to believe that no progress had been made within the last three months. Aka the time Kayn got his hands on Rhaast, the universe's greatest threat without fully understanding it.

"It's been hard to think straight, that insane ordinal is constantly chasing us down. Every planet we stop at to stock on supplies or rest from travel is crawling with the empire's military and Kayn is never far behind." Yasuo says with a frown on his face.

It was true, you had just witnessed just how quickly the Demaxian Empire was at tracking down wanted criminals. Only, the morning star crew weren't nearly as high priority as they were targeted to be. They were just a bunch of rag-tag space pirates.

It was clear that Kayn was obsessed with getting Sona back for his personal gains. Once fiercely loyal to his emperor Kayn has become obsessed with his personal hunt, he will not hesitate to kill any who cross his path. The ordinal was slowly corrupting into something dark and consuming.

That scythe was the catalyst for all of this. According to Sona, no one knew what Rhaast truly was, but it was undeniable that he or it wasn't the "sentience of ora".

Rhaast clearly wanted to open the ora gates, but for what purpose? Immediately you figured opening the ora gate was the last thing the universe wanted. Sona confirmed from her upbringing within the templar order she had heard of a time long ago when an ancient civilization, extinct for eons, once opened an ora gate. "Annnnd they're all dead now, so it must've gone well for them."

Sona doesn't know what's actually behind the gates but she has seen visions. Visions of which none of the Morningstar or you were aware of. She saw silence. She saw the vast well of time. She saw a moment stretched into an eternity. She saw lingering stillness and glacial quiet. She saw dark stars and black suns frozen in a void of endless shadow. She saw monstrous, silent deities lurking in a corrupted cosmos.

Yet she never spoke of them, Sona was a quiet and mysterious templar after all. The only reason you believed in this religious fanatic was because you could see it in her eyes, the horror. Behind a calm and neutral expression was a gaze that carried worry and fear. Whenever you would steal a glance with the templar it was like looking into a void, one that stared back into your deepest reaches. Sona knew many things, and yet she remained quiet about them, almost as if she was uncertain about whether or not she wanted to save the universe.

You had decided for yourself that you would take charge of planning the next course of action, borrowing a tablet from Yasuo you had snuck off by yourself to figure out what exactly one was supposed to do next.

Sitting down in the saloon of the ship, you began to develop a plan. From what you now know Kayn had to be stopped, the ordinal is so obsessed with his quest for power that he's becoming unstable.

He was being puppeted by that alien scythe whose intentions were far more dire than Kayn could realize. Rhaast wanted the ora gates to be open and it was clear that whatever lay beyond that gate was something never meant to be unlocked.

You needed to stop Kayn from opening the gate, the only reason he hasn't just gone straight to the gate immediately is because he needed Sona to unlock it. Only Sona knew how to do this which means she was a highly valuable asset, good thing she was on your side for now.

Was it possible to destroy the ora gate? If you could manage that then there would be no threat of anyone opening it ever. But it was unclear as to how these ora gates worked, no one truly understood them at all that the risk of something just as disastrous happening. How would one even go about destroying something so incomprehensible?

Ok so destroying the ora gate isn't a likely option, you delete that plan from the tablet.

Looking for the whereabouts of the ora gate would be a start, that way you'd know where to go and where Kayn would be headed at some point.

According to Yasuo, Sona had told him that there were in fact, multiple ora gates in the universe. All are located throughout the furthest reaches of the universe, far beyond the darkest corners. Knowing which one Kayn would go to would be impossible to predict.

Rubbing your temples, you grunt and delete that plan route.

Let's take a step back from the end game. The ordinal Kayn, instead of trying to intercept him at the gates or destroying one perhaps we needed to go straight to the source of the problem.

It wouldn't be hard to find Kayn. He would always come to you. If you had learned anything, it was that this insane and obsessed man was smart, and calculating and when you had something he wanted, it wouldn't be long before he pounced.

You type down "KAYN" in capitols. He was now the focus of your plan. There were a few options of how you could go about this. You could be a mediator and persuade Kayn to give up his pursuit for power, Or perhaps separate him from that damn scythe. Destroying Rhaast was also a good idea, oh wait an even better idea! We kill Kayn!

Just as you were typing out that last thought you feel the weight of someone leaning onto your shoulders, their shadow looming over your head as they nondiscreetly look at your plans.

"Whatcha doing?" Jinx asks with her eyes glued to your plan's title. She snatches your tablet from your hands and brings it close to her face as she intensely stares at it.

Sighing you grab the tablet back trying to focus on forming more ideas- "He's so cool~". You snap your head, pull a face, and look at Jinx as if she lost her min- yeh she probably has already.

"Jinx, please. Anyone but him. Kayn is evil and you're...chaotic neutral." You groan realizing there's no point in reasoning with the loose cannon.

With pacifist, petty, and genocide plans crafted, you went to showcase each of them to the Morningstar crew.

Sona true to her character wanted to take the peaceful route, but even she knew negotiating with such a cruel and ruthless person held little chance in successfully de-escalating the Ordinal.

Yasuo liked the idea of taking Rhaast from Kayn, the thought of taking away his power source was enticing to the captain of the crew. Although you weren't sure if you could trust Yasuo with the sentient scythe. Not that you were assuming the captain was immoral or corrupt but, nobody should've ever come into contact with whatever Rhaast is.

Jinx and Malphite unsurprisingly wanted to go the chaos route, already suggesting which weapons would best tear down the Locus Armada and the Fractal Sheer.

"I carry enough weapons to seize a medium battle fortress!" Jinx proudly exclaims standing before you. You simply nod and half smile "uhuh that's great jinx" your voice passive agressively giving off an annoyed tone.

She grins and dumps her current arsenal onto your lap, you jump in your seat. Did she seriously just throw live weapons at you?! "These are my best friends!" She says picking up the rocket launcher from your lap. "This is fishbones! I modeled him after Sharkpedos, He's always worried about me." You blink stunned.....he?

As she's showing him off she uses one hand to move the jaw of the rocket launcher up and down like a puppet. "I'm worried Jinx maybe we should try a less dangerous option, I like (Y/N)'s other plan to take the scythe instead." Jinx rolls her eyes at the rocket launcher she's ventriloquizing before throwing him to the side, followed by the sound of it crashing onto the ground.

"Yeh he can be a bit of a buzzkill, anyways this is Pow-pow!" Jinx says now picking up the mini-gun making your lap feel a ton lighter. She spins it around and you duck as the barrel comes towards you before shooting a desperate look to the others- oh, Sona and Malphite are gone and Yasuo is reading some book clearly unbothered. Great you're stuck with Jinx then.

"I love your plan to destroy the locus armada! let's shoot them up and watch their bodies fall together!" Jinx says playing on a raspier and higher-pitched voice for the minigun. Jinx then pulls out a lightning projector "This is Zappy she's my stun gun, she's more unstable than I am! Watch this!" Jinx then suddenly tosses the gun onto an empty couch like how one would casually throw their phone on a bed, only, when the gun softly bounces onto the lounge chair it explodes. And Jinx had thrown that on your lap just earlier...

Yasuo gives Jinx a glare flicking his eyes up from the novel he was currently reading, his nose still buried between the pages.

Not giving a single shit about Yasuo Jinx continues to introduce you to her "friends" such as the Flame Chompers, which are curiously sculpted in the likeness of Malphite's head; and the Super Mega Death Comet, an interstellar portal lifted from one of Jinx's old mining jobs.

"You should see the ship! I heavily modified the Morningstar with so many offensive weapons!" Jinx says happily grabbing you by the arm and dragging you on yet another tour of the Morningstar. And after an hour of being overstimulated with interacting with Jinx..... you were still unsure as to what half of Jinx's modifications do.

Finally, Jinx had gone off to wherever leaving you to mentally recover by yourself. So far regarding your "Plan" no one could agree on which one to go with, personally, you were leaning to the separate Kayn from Rhaast. You could kill Kayn if it comes to it. But between the two it was Rhaast that was the true danger.

That would not be an easy feat, Kayn alone was an intelligent and strong fighter. His eyepatch and left arm are clearly ora augmentations making him a superhuman. He now wields a sentient alien scythe and he has a whole personal army at his disposal.

There was no way the five of you could possibly win against him in a fight, it would take some grand scheme to outsmart the Ordinal and gain the upper hand.

Something crawls along your shoulder, and immediately your mind races to some giant ugly alien spider, you see how messy the interior of this ship is, clearly no one is cleaning the ship so of course it would be crawling with pests. You go back and forth on whether to scream for help or smack the bugger into smoosh.

To your relief, a familiar face peeps up at you. Warm round eyes that contrasted with its cool blue and green complexion and a goofy wide smile beamed up at you. "Hey little guy" you coo at the lizard. "How did you get here?"

The lizard chirps and clicks seemingly happy as you scratch its head like how one would pet a cat. "Let's return you to Yauso"

After walking through the layout of the ship you finally found Yasuo, sitting by a large window on a red carpet with incense and candles laid around him, his nose buried in a novel.

His eyes flick up from his book to look at you. "Ah I see Space Lizard has found you".

"Space Lizard? don't tell me that's what you actually call them."

Yasuo shrugs his shoulders. "We really couldn't decide a name for it, we'll probably never will. We plan to sell it for a profit"

"You're selling them!?"

Yasuo shrugs again. "That is why we stole it from a maximum-security nature reserve." Your jaw drops.

"You actually managed to pull that off?" Yasuo nods with a smug smirk on his lips. It was impressive but a part of you just felt for the innocent animal, he seemed happy and healthy here it felt wrong to give him away for money. Your thoughts get interrupted by bubbles floating towards your face and popping upon contact with your nose.

Surprised you turn your gaze and see that Space Lizard is blowing bubbles. You're unsure as to whether to be amazed or grossed out but by Yasuo's smile, you can tell that at least he secretly likes it.

"So you guys are really space pirates huh?" you ask as Space Lizard climbs down your arm and onto your outstretched hand.

Yasuo nods with a proud smile. "Yep, real space pirates". He turns a page in his novel. "It's a lot different from my old life, I would've still been living a life of luxury if it weren't for the framing of my brother's death."

Right, you remember Yasuo briefly mentioning that earlier. "I'm sorry for your loss" Yasuo merely shakes his head dismissively. Lowering his book.

"Don't worry about it, I'll get justice for my brother" he said quietly, his gaze turning downward. You couldn't help but feel drawn to his pain and frustration. Despite the cocky and careless personality he usually exhibits, he was clearly hurting.

Yasuo pauses and shifts in his seat "I should've been there, if I would've been there then-"

You nod your head not letting him finish but acknowledging the obvious truth, he'd been beating himself up for this incident for a long time, and from the way he spoke you could tell it was a huge weight on his shoulders.

"The empire screwed me over, they blamed me for something I didn't do. My brother had grown distant with me in recent years, He was off being a hero while I was spending my nights in a drunken daze, aimlessly wandering between high-end nightclubs. To him I was a disgrace, someone to be ashamed of, I wish I could prove him wrong. But now I'll never get the chance."

Space Lizzard had jumped down from your cradling hand and moved over to where Yasuo was sitting to perch himself on his shoulder, nuzzling its head against Yasuo's face as if to comfort him. A small smile returns to Yasuo's face.

"I know I'm not the only one who's on the run from the empire, You mentioned how you managed to escape punishment for sabotaging a locus armada ship back. But that's all we know about you, what made you turn against the empire?"

A sour snort escapes you, a bitter taste returning to your mouth. "I've hated the empire since the beginning" Yasuo looks at you confused.

"Why is that? What happened?"

You swallow down the rising pressure as the memories of your past rush back. "I used to live on one of the few planets that weren't claimed by the Demaxian empire. Of course that wouldn't last long. They always have to keep expanding, taking planet systems by force."

You recall your old home planet "My homeland was beautiful, it was bountiful with nature and wildlife and we lived in harmony with the land, we were a lot more primitive with technology. We didn't have much need for it. I was just a little girl when they arrived...."

"The Demaxian Empire was brutal, they came in guns blazing, declaring our planet and its land as their own. They had no regard for the lives and cultures they were erasing. Our planet was the gateway to the Outer Rim, a new frontier that the Empire craved. To them, our way of life was primitive and unacceptable.

I still remember them bringing their warships into my planet's orbit, demanding we bend the knee to them. When we refused. They bombed our planet, destroying much of our infrastructure and reducing our population to just a fraction of the original number.”

The look in your eyes was one of a faraway expression, there was a slight tremble in your hands and your whole complexion had paled.

"When the smoke cleared there was nothing left. The land was leveled out, the villages were torn to the ground and all of the plant life, and the animals were gone. They came in and wiped out our entire people in the name of expansion and development. But left after draining everything of Ora. Apparently our planet wasn't good enough to colonize. All that slaughter and ruination for nothing!" you say clenching your teeth.

"The nightmare didn't end there however. With our home now uninhabitable we had to leave, some submitted themselves to the empire and lived lives of servitude and slavery. Others like myself fled to distant planets like Piltron and Zaun. Desperate to find stability in living." By now you had seated yourself next to Yasuo who surprisingly was listening to your rambling, his novel was closed and by his side, and Space Lizard while perched on his shoulders looked at you intentively.

"I had nothing to my name, no ID, no money, no family. I was used to living off the grid with no influence by technology and government systems. Without any ID it was an unimaginable pain in the ass to intergrade into society. No vital records office could obtain any identity due to my home planet never being a part of the Demaxian system. I couldn't get a stable job or any proper schooling, I was left to figure shit on my own because Demaxia doesn't have time for my kind.

I had to struggle with low-end jobs that paid under the table, there was no dignity in my line of work not when the turnover rate of a nuclear powerplant worker was so high, and more people were dying of negligence faster than new hires were acquired. I was fortunate, if you could call it that to be a mere janitor in Zaun's power plant system. But that didn't come without prejudice from the locals.

I didn't understand why, I still don't, we were all in the same boat and yet I was treated differently. Over time I learnt the ways of the streets and how to survive them. I kept my head down, I minded my own business. Despite being surrounded by thugs and gangs I managed to stay out of it by blending in. Of course, there were a few times I messed up" You say, pulling up your shirt, showing a couple of scars along your torso. Scar tissue in round formations pulled taught towards the center, the classic sign of a healed bullet wound. There were others too, a couple of singular lines dragging across your torso also, the result of getting shivved.

"I was never going to escape the pits of the lower class, no matter how many hours I worked, how many side jobs I had, despite living as frugally as one could survive on. I could never escape being a blue-collar in the slums. The empire's system is so rigged that if you want to live comfortably you have to be born into it. It's so unfair! So many people suffer in poverty and filth because the stupid king is more focused on colonizing more and more planets with stupid rich assholes who don't even spare a thought for the people who keep their obnoxiously pampered lifestyle afloat!!!" Yasuo jumps back a little at your heated outburst towards the end, his usual calm and suave demeanor now tense with a startled wide eyed stare.

It was clear he felt awkward about being called out for his old lifestyle. You sigh and shake your head.

"I'm sorry I don't mean to take it all out on you specifically, I've never really talked about any of this and I suppose all those years were bottled up for too long." Yasuo's gaze softens, his hand goes towards his belt and he passes you a flask, you raise a brow questioningly but take his offering and take a swig instantly feeling the distilled alcohol kick you in the throat with a powerful punch. You cough and sputter looking at him shocked.

"What the hell is this?"

"Pure distilled Polmos Spirytus Rektyfikowany Vodka"

"...." You stare at Yasuo silently before dowing another swig, then another. Letting out a gasp and wiping your lips with the back of your hand as the satisfying burn of the alcohol soaked itself into your system.

"Better?"

"Better."

You noticed the velocity of the ship shifting and turning into the landing procedures, curiously you looked to Yasuo.

"Whats happening?"

Yasuo shrugs "Looks like Jinx is taking us to a pit stop."

A/N: So I've had this idea as headcannon for ages but never had the chance to implement it into the story so free lore content below!:

Piltron and Zaun is a rather unique planet in my Odyssey story. Piltron similar to its Runeterra counterpart (Piltover) is the higher class planet to Zaun. Piltron is a hollow planet that exists as an outer shell that hovers around its inner planet Zaun. To access Zaun you need to travel between the tectonic plates of Piltron via colossal industrial elevators. Piltover isn't a perfect shell that entirely encases the inner planet Zaun but is cracked into multiple districts that are tethered to its center Zaun via cybernetic tendrils to avoid floating out of Zaun's atmosphere. If you've seen Transformers: The Last Knight you'll know that I've taken inspiration from the scene of Cybertron being spacebridged into Earth's orbit (see image below).

Zaun Center, like the earth's core, is made of a uranium deposit that is harvested through fission (nuclear power plants) that power both Zaun and Piltron through the cybernetic tendrils that also hold the two planets together. Zaun is made up of the working class while Piltron homes the more upperclass citizens. Piltron and Zaun are allied with the Demaxian Empire and stand as the main manufacturing planet of the weapons and technology of the empire.

Despite being a part of Demaxia, Piltron, and Zaun have the least amount of empire enforcers due to the trust between them and the core worlds. Plus because of the unstable levels of radioactive activity in Zaun, most enforcers don't hover around for long. Sure in this age we have radioactive protection suits but Zaun is seen as dirty to rich snobs.

I think my least favorite major villain is Diavolo. He's a good character in theory, but he just kinda falls flat to me. He's another example of part 5's missed potential to me, but I haven't really done any character analysis on why, unlike I have with Giorno.

I'm not really huge into the type of music that Araki references in his works (I mostly listen to soundtracks from stuff I like), but I do really vibe with Killer Queen (the song and the Stand)

Favorite Jobro is probably Ermes. Just like Foo Fighters is the upgraded version of Kakyoin, Ermes is the upgraded version of Polnareff to me. Ermes's character takes the Princess Bride-inspired backstory of Polnareff and adds some (much-needed) depth to it, although it lost a bit of its impact because her past was only given to the reader right before the fight where it was resolved.

My least favorite jobro is Kakyoin, which is surprising to me now that I think about it. Just like Josuke, huge crush on him in the past, and just like Foo Fighters, I can relate to his feeling of being othered. And this isn't to say I don't like his character, I just so happen to like how the other jobros were handled. All this to say I will still fight people who say his character is bad.

Favorite minor villain has to be Steely Dan, because he's the epitome of part 3 villain writing. He's a dick for the sake of it, he's fairly attractive, he's working for Dio for vain reasons, the way his Stand was defeated was just bullshit (affectionate) enough to teeter on that suspension of disbelief, and he rightfully got the everloving shit beaten out of him by Jotaro. Truly, what more could you ask for from a part 3 villain.

I honestly think the entirety of Jojo would be better if Enyaba had more screen time, or at least if her Stand fight was given more importance. I'm sure Araki didn't know it at the time, but she becomes an insanely important character for the lore of Jojo as a whole. She's the one who tells Diavolo about the importance of the Stand arrows, and also gives those arrows to many different important people. And the way she was defeated was... because Star Platinum sucked in her Stand. When I say bullshit here I mean it in a half-affectionate half-derogatory way. And that's not even what killed her, which was Steely Dan! Jotaro should've been allowed to finish her off once and for all, considering her importance later.

Have you ever scrapped ideas for Sweet & Sour?

Yep!

My process has luckily been more of "transform an idea that doesn't fit" situation for most things, but I'm happy to talk about some of the things that didn't make the cut. Whipping out the notes page...

Lacey was actually meant to be the spotlighted E4 member that gets close to Juliana, not Drayton (hence the focus on her in Chapter 1 & 2). She was actually my favorite at first, and I envisioned her as being a positive, grounding guide for Juliana, and also somewhat of a middle ground influence for Kieran. But then I wrote my spin on the cafeteria scene, and I was like "oh my god wait, Drayton's character is so enticing and flexible, and he's especially fun to insert as an influence in the Kieran/Juliana dynamic". SOOOOOO I quickly decided to pivot and make him the spotlighted one, and have him do more of this brotherly figurer role who was very cunning and comedic. Before I even realized I got overtaken by the iconicism, and now he's just part of my brand in general. Whoops. The "Drayton Being Iconic" tag existed on this blog before this happened so I honestly should've seen it coming LMAO. I do have very important plans for the rest of the E4 and what role they're playing, though :

Don't laugh at this one - it was also early development LOL. I was going to have a party scene where Drayton convinces Juliana to pretend she got drunk (I know) as part of a roundabout and wild way to find evidence that Kieran had a soft spot for her (I KNOW). Kieran was essentially gonna waltz in (to a social event he otherwise never would make an appearance in) and he'd get all flustered as Juliana latches onto him. He would've decided to sweep her away from the party and take him back to his dorm. I ended up scrapping this entirely because while teens do party and all that...yeah, and also we pretty much got the dynamic moments I wanted to portray much better through the chapters where Juliana got sick.

Kieran/Juliana dynamic was also gonna have a moment where Kieran gets it in his head to start flirting with Juliana because he thinks that she’s flirting to get him to put his guard down. And that's where they both kinda were gonna secretly realize their feelings LOL. In hindsight lowkey fire still, but yeah, kinda just didn't have the space for it. We do have flirty Kieran era though, and that's still based.

This one is kinda known already, but originally the Applins were the only stars of the show (hence the name of the fic). I added Ribombee in early on after enough people wanted it and gave it lore/a connection to Kieran and his mother. Before Ribombee was conceptualized, I had different plans for what happened to Kieran's parents (he would still be an orphan regardless).

Briar was originally going to make a "deal" with Clavell regarding getting Juliana to come to Blueberry early, although it wouldn't be revealed until Juliana discovers this later. I scrapped this in favor of something much better because I didn't like the implications it had on Clavell's character, and honestly, only Blueberry is supposed to have the sketchy admin/systematic stuff going on anyways lol.

Kieran was meant to show more obvious signs of sleep deprivation (e.g. falling suspect to illness more frequently, slowed reactions). This idea is still good and realistic, but yeah, ended up leaning more into other symptomology that went well with the toxic chain curse (e.g. irritability, obsessive fixations, self-criticism, overworking himself, fatigue, etc.)

Ribombee was going to sleep powder both Kieran & Juliana in the cave scene of Ch 5. I decided to make it a bit more organic by having Kieran up and reflecting on everything + having Ribombee appearance in a more mystical way. Plus, I thought it would mean more if Kieran & Juliana opted to cuddle up themselves rather than being knocked out. There was a part of me that was worried the dynamic was progressing too fast this way with this change, but it seemed to have landed well! :)

This doesn't really count as a scrapped idea, but related: I 1000% retconned something with the Drayton POV chapters (if ykyk, LOL). But YEP. It's CANON. And frankly it's a decision I personally love that has implications, but also won't screw up the storytelling for where we're at now, either.

There's actually a lot more, too, but like I said: most of my ideas tend to upgrade. And lolololol OMG this is especially true for some major lore stuff. I just don't want to reveal it because I don't want to give y'all hints on where we're going!! LOL.

And also...there are cuter moments I haven't used in S&S and probably won't be able to because I account for what makes sense with the given dynamic. BUT what I do end up doing is taking those unused ideas and putting them into What-Ifs or other stories. There's one I'm particularly thinking of that I was dying to put in S&S D, but I don't think it would trip up the current Kieran as much as it would've in earlier chapters, lol. SO. It's going in The Dichotomy in Our Hearts instead! xD

The cold air nipped at your cheeks and nose as you laid flat on your front, your sniper riffle held steady as you looked through the scope. You knew you should've worn a longer sleeve but by the time you realised how cold it was, it was too late to turn back according to Ghost.

You'd been out here on your own for what felt like days when in reality, it'd only been a few hours. Price had mentioned in the brief that it should be a fairly straightforward mission since there was only a few men at the enemy base. All that was needed was to take your positions around the base, keep a look out with the snipers and then take them out. Apparently, they must've been having a night in because there had been no sign of life.

Glancing down at your watch, it read 11:35pm so it wasn't too early but not overly late considering some of the times you've gone on previous missions before. One time you and Soap were paired together and were ordered to keep a look out, much like this mission, but it went from 10pm till 4:47am. Safe to say you both fell asleep on the way back.

"Hey y/n, Ghost, wanna hear a joke?" Soap asked through your earpiece. Ghost just groaned while you let out a laugh. "Sure, shoot".

"Whats the difference between a smart Scottish man and a unicorn?" Soap began.

"What?"

"Nothing, they're both fictional characters" he laughed out before abruptly stopping. "You know you just insulted yourself there Johnny" Ghost told him, a smirk evident in his voice.

"Fuck off, L.T. Like you could do much better" Soap challenged. Ghost just cleared his throat before answering back with his own joke.

"Why did the Soldier bring a blanket to an active battle zone?"

"Why Ghost?"

"He needed cover... a little army humour" he added with a chuckle. "Very little..." Soap grumbled which made you laugh. This was way more entertaining then the mission at hand.

Rustling from the bushes behind you drew you out of your thoughts, making you tense up before reaching for the pistol in your holster and aiming it at the poor bastard's head. You were met with your boyfriend holding both hands up in surrender, a playful yet worried look plastered on his face. "Easy easy! It's just me doll".

Taking a breath, you eased up and went back to the sniper riffle that was set up then softly patted the space next to you, silently inviting Graves to lay next to you. "How comes you came over then, Phil?" you asked, your gaze fixated through the scope targeted at the enemy base.

"What? Am I not even allowed to see my girlfriend anymore?" he playfully remarked with an offended tone. You just rolled your eyes and let out a small chuckle. "Well, when we're in the middle of an important mission, no you cannot."

"Can't argue with that, baby. Here, let me take over for you." Graves offered, moving you out of the way of the snipper riffle so he can see through the scope himself. You rolled onto your back and stared up at the dark sky which was littered with thousands of stars.

You shifted your head to rest on your boyfriends shoulder, wanting to feel closer to him. "And I thought I was the 'clingy' one" Graves joked, glancing down at you briefly before going back to the riffle. Not satisfied with the single answer, you kept prodding at Graves in hopes you'd get his attention. This didn't work, however, as he just laid there with a smile across his lips and ignored your attempts to draw his focus onto you.

It took about 15 minutes of constant jabs and murmuring his name for Graves to even look back at you. "What's wrong doll? I thought you said this was an important mission" said your boyfriend, finally pulling his gaze from the scope to you.

"Can I hold your hand... please?" you asked, practically begging for any form of contact with the attractive soldier. Graves let out a chuckle before offering one of his hands to you. "Sure baby, here". Smiling, you took his hand and laced your fingers together. Satisfied, Graves went back to the riffle while you tried to make out the moving blobs not too far from you.

"Hey, can you see that?" you asked your boyfriend, gesturing with the hand which was holding his. Graves just gave a bleak answer, telling you 'it was probably one of the other guys keeping watch'.

Soon enough it got much colder where you were, making you shiver and shift closer to Graves. This didn't go unnoticed by the handsome man as he pulled away from the gun and sat up on his knees. Stretching slightly, he looked down at you and smiled.

"What?" you questioned, looking up at Graves with confusion. He just opened his arms and stared back a you. "Hug?" you asked. The man in front of you just nodded shyly while opening his arms slightly wider. Taking that as your invitation, you pounced into his arms and held him tightly while Graves' arms wrapped around your waist and his head rested in the crook of your neck.

"Hmm...this is nice, I've missed this" Graves murmured into your hair, moving to hold you tighter against his chest. "It sucks we can't do this more often. There's nothing I want more than to show you off as mine". Hearing that made your heart beat faster and place a gentle kiss onto your boyfriends lips.

"D'you guys wanna be doing yer job sometime soon instead of coddling each other?" Soap said through your ear piece. Shit. You forgot that it was still on, meaning that both Soap and Ghost and probably the rest of the team could hear the entirety of yours and Graves' conversation. "Also me and Ghost were lookin' at you both through the scope of his sniper"

Groaning, you leaned in closer to your boyfriends chest from sheer embarrassment while he went off on a tangent to Soap and Ghost for having a weapon trained on you both.

At least you didn't have to hide your relationship anymore and that was a positive.

10 Disney hot takes/probably unpopular opinions

As a big Disney fan, I thought I'd make a post dedicated completely to things I hated/despised about Disney films I loved (or at least liked):

I wasn't a fan of "Dos Orguitas." I think it's because I just don't like slow songs. I also think it was the wrong song to send to the Oscars: "Surface Pressure," "What Else Can I Do," and "Waiting on a Miracle" were much better options.

2. I CANNOT STAND Flynn Rider. I made a post about the sympathetic thief/conman trope you see in films and how I'm tired of it, so I won't repeat myself. I'd have preferred Bastion (his original self) instead of the final product; Flynn comes off feeling like a father or big brother figure to Rapunzel rather than her love interest.

3. Anna and Kristoff were ruined as a couple by "Frozen 2." Kristoff is so obsessed with finding a way to propose to Anna while Anna ignores him and misunderstands him for much of the movie, that the proposal at the end of the film feels almost unearned.

4. "Mulan" needed more songs. I can't get more clear than that.

5. Gaston didn't need to die, and he kinda toed the line between evil and mean. He's a villain, but it's his arrogance that screws him over; if he was just vain, he'd be into Belle, but he probably wouldn't be as big of a threat. At worst, he'd be a recurring suitor for Belle that she kept having to turn away. He could've been a minor antagonist, but his determination to get what he believed belonged to him was what led to his downfall. Plus now that I think on it, couldn't he have just been imprisoned? I doubt he'd have too much sway after the events of the film.

6. The costumes for Big Hero 6 weren't as great as they could've been. While the colors and styles are different, the fabric/armor and headgear looks similar, bringing it to almost a uniform look with different colors rather than individual outfits. I discussed that in my rewrite.

7. "Raya and the Last Dragon" would've been my favorite Disney film it had been a musical, focused on one SEA country (or at least, several distinct ones rather than a mesh), and had a story that carried the morals/characters better. It has a great concept on paper, but my rewrite says it all.

8. Pocahontas had the best romantic life (and John Rolfe is better than John Smith).

9. Ariel's green dress is her best one.

10. Asha and (human) Star should've been a couple. One of my many frustrations with "Wish."

I re-read and (re)watched Red White and Royal Blue so let's talk about it

Grab your popcorn guys, gals, and non-binary pals I'm writing this on my laptop instead of my phone so you know it's gonna be a long one

To preface, Red White and Royal Blue is one of my favorite books of all time and it brought me so much joy to re-read it in preparation for the movie. Casey McQuiston's writing will never not make me laugh out loud. But it's because I love this book so much that I was suuuper apprehensive about the announcement of a movie adaptation. That being said I think the movie lived up to the expectations I had for it. I think I would’ve enjoyed the movie more had I not just read the book

TLDR: I thought that the movie felt like the bare bones of the book and lacked the emotional depth that the book had. 2/5 stars as a book to movie adaptation. 3/5 stars just looking at it as a movie and not an adaptation

Things I Liked About the Movie

ZAHRA! I loved her character in the movie so much. In terms of side characters she was definitely the one that felt most faithful to the source material to me. And I think every time she was in a scene she made it 100x better. She was definitely a scene stealer for me

The banter between Alex and Henry. ESPECIALLY in the montage of texts they send each other in the beginning of the movie, which was taken basically word for word from the book. I think it was important for the movie to get this right because their banter is basically the foundation of Alex and Henry's relationship.

I also really liked how they shot the text conversations and the turkey phone call

The confrontation at Kensington Palace. By far the best scene acting wise for both Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galiztine

When they were both at the piano and Alex started playing "My Country tis of Thee" and the Henry joined in for the final cadence cause the melody is the same as "God Save the Queen" that musical symbolism was just *chefs kiss*

That one reporter who questioned Miguel about Alex's right to privacy

Alex reading One Last Stop when they’re on the hammock in Texas. Great little easter egg for fans of the book and Casey McQuiston

Things I Didn't Like About the Movie

The pacing felt off. Everything felt rushed to me. We got 3 sex scenes over the course of 10 minutes; that is so unnecessary. I don't think enough time was spent establishing our characters and their relationships to one another. In fact their entire romance felt rushed to me. especially in the first half of the movie. I don't think it was necessary to have their first hookup at the white house and then the scene immediately afterwards being their hookup at the polo match (as much as we all love that scene in the book). Without the added context of what Alex had to cancel on and talk with Zahra about to get to the polo match I felt that Alex's need to be with Henry again and that longing was lost. In the same vein I don't think the turkey scene had the same amount of weight in the book. It was played as thought they had spoken on the phone before which they hadn't, so that was a big step in their friendship and relationship, but I think that emotional impact was glossed over. And in general the emotional depth to Alex and henry's relationship felt lacking to me. I think more time should've been spent showing us their emotional intimacy rather than their physical intimacy cause Alex's almost "I love you" in Texas didn't feel earned

The characterization of a lot of the characters. Because I had literally just finished reading the book the day before I watched the movie everything is still extremely fresh in my mind and because of that a lot of the characters felt very one note to me. Like Bea is 1/8th of the character that she was in the book. They took away her spunk and made her into this very typical prim and proper princess of England. What happened to the girl who "accidentally" pours hot tea into her brother's lap to make him shut up? And my girl Nora... if I hadn't known from reading the book that her and Alex were best friends and had a previous romantic relationship I would've never known that was the nature of their relationship in the movie. The way she's painted in the movie is that she just works on the Claremont campaign team and just happens to be the granddaughter of the vice president. And yeah her and Alex are friends, but best friends? I just wasn't getting that vibe from them in the movie. And it also made me mad that on New Year’s Alex just kissed two random girls at the party instead of Nora which was their tradition. Also was it ever mentioned in the movie that Nora was bi? I think they conveniently skipped over that part in the scene when her and Alex are talking about Henry. If Nora's only purpose of being in the movie was to provide a little insight to Alex's very minor sexuality crisis and some emotional support I don't understand why that couldn't have been June instead. Last thing I'll say about characterization is that I wish they had balanced President Claremont with mom Ellen better. She had some good mom moments, but I really wish we had gotten the scene from the book (or a scene similar to it) where after the emails leak Ellen clears the conference room to just talk with Alex and check in with him and how he's feeling as a mom and not as president of the US. Which leads me to my next point

The lack of the white house trio and the super six. Not gonna rehash my thoughts on Nora, but I think it's insane that June was just completely eliminated from the movie narrative. Like she was one of Alex's main support systems in the book and like the whole magazine poster thing in the book was cause of her too. June knew Alex sometimes better than he knew himself and I think it was a shame that he didn't have someone like that to lean on in the movie. (Also the lack of gay subplot between her, Nora, and Pez. What a shame). Speaking of Pez, it really bothered me that they only called him Percy in the movie. Yeah that's technically his name, but it's like only people who don't know him call him that. If you know him like Henry and Alex are supposed, to you call him Pez. I missed the found family aspect of the story that came with the "super six" and I think both Henry and Alex could've used that support from the group of friends in the movie. It felt very much them against the world in the movie when they really had so many people supporting them (bringing it back to my need for more mom Elle scenes, like her "I'll back your play" line in the book).

Miguel. Ugh. This guy. The movie needed an antagonist so they decided to create an entire new character instead of making some nuanced commentary about how dirty (unfortunately) American politics can be with the inclusion of Rafael Luna. And I think the thing that pisses me off the most about Miguel is that they didn't even link him back to Jeffry Richard's campaign. And with that omission it just seems like Miguel leaked the emails to get back at Alex for not wanting to sleep with him again or as a guy who just wanted to break his first big story to be seen as a serious journalist. And I also think it reduces the severity of the crime Miguel committed by not linking it back to the Richard's campaign, which would be conspiracy against a sitting president and lead to a federal investigation (took that straight from the book lol) (maybe they felt it was hitting a little too close to home). And the fact that whoever leaked the emails faces. no repercussions in the movie or even any mention of potential consequences is criminal (no pun intended). Again I feel like it reduces the severity of the crime. AND HOW FUCKING DARE THEY GIVE MIGUEL THE "FUCKING EYE LASHES" LINE

The fact that Alex calls Henry baby in the movie exactly once and never calls him sweetheart CRIMINAL

Some of the dialogue felt very clunky to me "... and I'll bother you no longer." What was wrong with saying "and I won't bother you anymore"?

Lastly (though I'll probably have more to say after another watch), the quality of the production of the movie was lacking at some parts. I hated how obvious it was to me when one scene was shot at an irl location versus a scene shot using green screen or a fake background. And the lighting specifically didn't help with some of those scenes. Everything just seemed a bit too bright some times

Ha ha ha I actually thought of more but these are more minor complaints that these things were omitted from the movie. The fact that they referenced but didn’t do the whole PowerPoint scene. I really wanted to see Uma Thurman do that scene lol. The fact that “Your Song” by Elton John wasn’t included at all. THE FACT THAT ALEX DIDNT CALL HENRY AN OBTUSE FUCKING ASSHOLE. No mentions of Star Wars. WHY DID THE CUT THE CORNETTOS SCENE

Oh another minor thing (but I think it's kinda big). The house in Texas is supposed to be Spanish style not the modern looking thing we got in the movie. The symbolism of that house representing a core part of Alex was just poof gone

Reader is a stunning singer and an even stronger dancer. Dancing is something she's cared about since a very young age, going to dance class 9–5 on weekends and all day after school on weekdays. Being bullied and having no friends made leaving for dance practice more enticing; even if she was tired, she never missed a day.

It was her strong suit—the first thing everyone noticed when she performed.

She appeared in the public eye for the first time on "Noa," a survival show hosted by Hybe ent in 2018. Her captivating visuals and talents amazed viewers and the eyes of 18-year-old actor Park Solomon.

He had just finished filming "Sweet Revenge" not too long ago and was to soon be starring in Lookism; he had never really cared for music survival shows or music in general. Noa just happened to be running when he had nothing else to watch. Solomon was interested in what would come from the show, especially what would come from you.

In his head, he had wished you luck in debuting; he would've voted for you, but he wasn't sure how the website worked, so he settled for silent encouragement.

Eventually, in April of 2019, you debuted in the group Seasons, a light-hearted, bubbly, girl-crush-style group, a classic concept for girl groups in 2018.

He enjoyed the debut song and added it to his favorite playlist, and that was the end of it; he didn't give much more thought to it, and that's the extent of your parasocial relationship.

Flash forward to early 2021, and Minju, the member of your group you knew pre-debut, was begging you to take up a role offered to you for a new zombie-thriller-style show.

Acting was never a skill you possessed, nor was it something you cared about taking up, but the director of the show told your manager you fit the visuals he had imagined for the character perfectly. With staff and members practically begging you to take it, you inevitably did. The show would start shooting later that year, which gave you time to take classes and fully understand what you were getting into.

Eventually, the time to start shooting came, and you got your script.

It was so much more than you assumed it would be; it was kind of stress-inducing but thrilling at the same time.

You finally step on set, ready for anything, and all you can focus on is none other than Kim Eun Ae, a mean girl from your early years of high school.

You were excited, yes, but this made this a lot harder than it should've been.

That's it for the favourite Precure poll! Thanks to everyone who voted. It was 141 votes total, of which one vote was removed because it had the same character more than once (which, if kept in, would have affected the middle of the following top 20 list but not the top 5).

So La Mer got both the most votes and most points, while Milky got the most first place votes. Also even with so many contestants, almost every Cure got at least one point, which is nice. And it shows that while some of them clearly got more votes than others, there's still plenty of variance of opinions in the fandom (which is also nice).

Overall I think this was a fun poll and having it be about the top 5 made it more interesting than expecting everyone to pick just one favourite. Originally it even had a top 10, but I ended up cutting it because I worried that google forms is such a cumbersome platform for a poll like this that people might ragequit halfway through.

Finally sorry about the Parfait situation again, if I ever have the same poll in a few years I'll be sure to remember to include her. She did get some write-in votes but I wonder if she got more if voting for her didn't require extra hassle.

Apollo:

Favorite thing about them: I know it kind of applies to all the MCs, but he is sooo... cringefail. And I love that about him. Like idk he's just so sweaty and vaguely unwell all the time and I think it's charming that he's constantly convincing himself he's Totally Cool Totally Fine Just Absolutely Fine. I also like that he can't help but be kinda mean. Not that he is a mean character, just that he has the most shit-tier filter when it comes to talking to people. I love how often he says shit he shouldn't to people, it's funny as hell to me. I love him Least favorite thing about them: He's really boring until Spirit of Justice. At least to me personally. He's like cardboard in AJ, and I don't... care about his arc at all in DD lol. Spirit of Justice may have slapped another backstory onto this bitch, and while it's silly, I think it works the best because now at least we have SOME understanding of his background. And I like his dynamics with the Khura'in crew a lot. Favorite line: idk... I don't really pay mind to people's lines. But the bit in Turnabout for Tomorrow where he says he finally trusts Athena is fun. I also like that bit in 6-5: "If you committed a crime, you'd better be ready to do the time. Be you a priest, a saint, a queen or a god." That goes pretty hard. Like bro he fucking rules during Turnabout Revolution it's crazy, he's the star of that trial for sure. The star he should've been in this trilogy all along. brOTP: Him and Athena are iconic together. I like him and Trucy for sure, but Athena really brings out some great stuff in his personality. They are so damn funny together, and you really get the impression they care about each other a lot despite the constant teasing and the rivalry. OTP: I generally don't ship Apollo with anyone because I headcanon him as aroace, but if I was going to pick a ship, I like Justicykes, I admit. I think it could be a cute ship and they already have a terrific dynamic together. But yeah. nOTP: Since I already said Nahyuta/Apollo when I did Yuty's, I guess barring ships like him and Trucy which are a given for me, I don't really care for Klavier/Apollo because I feel they have no chemistry. Like. At all. Like for anything KRKJFN The writing between them in AA4 is so Nothing to me, so idk, I just don't see it. It's not a bad ship and I understand why people like it, but it didn't click with me-- but it probably also didn't click because I don't particularly like Klavier to begin with. I don't think he's very interesting. Random headcanon: Uhhh idk! Let's see... I do headcanon Apollo as a trans man, and since I also headcanon Yuty as trans, I guess like... I like the idea of them playing games as boys when they were kids because they don't have the language or knowledge to understand why neither of them are particularly happy with being viewed as girls, so it was a little secret thing that they encouraged for each other because it made them happy. They understood when no one else did. And then they reunite 15 years later, see the other has transitioned, and thinks, "That explains a lot" lol. Unpopular opinion: His SOJ backstory is stupid as fuck but I actually also think it's great and the best thing they've done with his backstory so far, especially since they have continued to not tell Apollo and Trucy that they're siblings (though yes, I know, the ending of SOJ implies Thalassa and Phoenix are finally going to tell them). It's the first time I had a good grasp on his background, and I think his dynamic with Dhurke, Nahyuta, and Datz is legit great. Song I associate with them: I don't think I've ever thought about it. Everything is Fine by Qbomb could be good for him, but it's also very intense, probably too much even for him. But I'll go with that. Favorite picture of them: I love his grin, it's adorable

Athena:

Favorite thing about them: Her personality!!! I love how bombastic she is, I love how much emotion they put into her animations and everything. I love how much she cares about people, she's so ride or die and hardworking even when people underestimate her or look down on her. It makes her a really endearing character. I worried if I'd like her when I first started DD, but she's honestly awesome. She's my favorite protag from the new trilogy, though Apollo is not very far behind. Least favorite thing about them: I wish she wasn't so young sometimes. Like I find it weird that the newer games veer so much towards people becoming lawyers fresh out of high school, and even for someone as smart as her, I'm just like... you can't make her 20 at least or something? And I feel like the only reason she's even 18 in DD is because the assistant characters have to be a teen girl. Like. Yknow lol.

I also thought it was kind of annoying how 6-4 kept pushing her being a kid when basically nobody ever talked to her like that before. It felt like they just needed more conflict so threw in suddenly everyone being like "she's just a little BABY GIRL who doesn't KNOW NOTHIN" and I thought it was a touch lame. But not too intrusive, really. At least someone started recognizing she's young as hell, lol. Favorite line: Everything she says is iconic. How am I supposed to pick. Yeah I honestly don't know lol brOTP: Her and Simon are legendary together. Their dynamic is so fuckin funny and endearing to me. It's one of the highlights of DD and the highlight of Turnabout Storyteller. I never knew her and Blackquill were connected before I played DD, albeit I basically never saw anything new trilogy content so it surprised me, but I love them. The siblings of all time OTP: Justicykes, I guess? idk. I don't really ship for her. I'm not even certain what my headcanons for her sexuality are to begin with. I could see her as a lesbian, but I could see her as pan, but I could see her as aro, so on. Her and Juniper is cute too, I just feel like their dynamic isn't fleshed out enough, but that's kinda par for the course in DD. But I can vibe with it. nOTP: Her and Blackquill romantically. Like sorry, but you have fundamentally misunderstood their dynamic. I feel strongly about that. I can't explain it, but it really feels like it misses the point of their dynamic and what makes the dynamic great, but idk. Also it's just Weird for a lot of reasons. Random headcanon: (guy who makes every character he likes trans voice) I Think She's Trans. Also love her being taller than Apollo, I'll go with that hc like the rest of us. Unpopular opinion: I dunno. I think she's a mixed bag to a lot of people because of how DD pivoted so aggressviely away from AA4's vision and direction, which makes it tough for me to determine what an unpopular opinion with her would be, beyond that, like, she really needs her own game. I'd say DD is her game, but we need one where she's in the driver's seat and leading the story on her own. I don't want to see Phoenix or Apollo helping her anymore I'm sick of it KRKF
