Behind the scenes, American officials also believe there is limited time for Israel to try to accomplish its stated objective of taking out Hamas in its current operation before uproar over the humanitarian suffering and civilian casualties – and calls for a ceasefire – reaches a tipping point.
In fact, there is recognition within the administration that that moment may arrive quickly: Some of the president’s close advisers believe that there are only weeks, not months, until rebuffing the pressure on the US government to publicly call for a ceasefire becomes untenable, sources told CNN.
A lot of this pressure — the majority, I would wager — that Biden and US national leaders are getting is the result of people calling their reps, attending protests, writing to their newspapers and generally making themselves heard on this issue. People make a difference, and it's always worth reaching out to your legislators and telling them what you think.
Senators' info is pretty easy to find, since you've got two for every state (even DC and other non-state people have someone they can call!) but sometimes it's a little tricky remembering who your representative is, especially now with the district lines having changed up. So check your address here and then call their office — I've found more luck getting hold of an actual person at their local offices rather than the DC one, fwiw.

oouggh swanatello has been consuming my brain and its your fault,, /pos
actual question tho, have swanatello's bros tried explaining to him that they're his brothers? and if so, howd he react?
If Swanatello doesn't recognize them when they come to visit him, and they don't obey his commands to leave and try to convince him of their identities... in a best-case scenario, he will ignore them entirely and drive them off regardless. More commonly, he will grow confused and upset by their arguments. (Because now part of his brain is screaming at him that he DOES know them-- and the other part is screaming at him that he DOESN'T, and he doesn't know who to listen to.) They are now, to him, not only dangerous threats that must be driven away, but also actively causing him harm and distress, and he will only grow more aggressive and violent as a result. These scenarios have resulted in some of the worst injuries for his siblings.

Love your Alenoah Hypno Story... Out of curiosity, how different would the story be if Noah has a secret fear of hypnosis, before World Tour... And when Alejandro offered to entrance him, Noah simply BOLTS out of the room... then Noah tries to avoid being left alone with Alejandro, so the Latino can't hypnotize him... I think Alejandro would totally enjoy the challenge and he would feel even more satisfied, when he finally has a chance to entrance Noah (like maybe Alejandro promises not to let Owen get voted off, if Noah would let Alejandro hypnotize him)! 😈
Anon why would you open this plotline up to me it's giving me The Brainworms.
Because Noah having a genuine phobia of hypnosis or something adjacent to it- like a phobia of automatism in general, or just a severe disliking of not having control over himself- suggests that he's experienced something similar before, either first-hand or as a witness. Which means he would have intimate knowledge about the extents Alejandro could hypothetically abuse his talents as a hypnotist to.
I doubt he'd actually bolt away from Alejandro after the other offers to hypnotise him, Noah's a bit more savvy than that (even if he is pretty socially illiterate), so he'd probably just insult the idea and dismissively saunter off- whilst trying his best to breath evenly around the ice in his lungs and quell the terrified shaking of his hands. Alejandro, of course, would notice just how petrified uncomfortable the idea of hypnosis makes Noah, which would only pique his interest and motivate him to try and somehow ensnare the nerd under his control.
Of course, that becomes increasingly difficult when Noah begins to go our of his way to avoid interacting with Alejandro at all, to the point where the two of them are hardly ever within talking distance of each other, let alone left alone together (which is impressively frustrating, given the fact they're essentially trapped on a jet. There's very little space Noah can occupy without encountering Alejandro, and yet he somehow manages to consistently evade the Spaniard). Also, Noah's always surrounding himself with others- namely Owen, but he also begins clinging to Tyler as well. There's safety in numbers, after all. Alejandro would never try anything nefarious in front of potential witnesses.
I like the idea of him incentivising Noah into undergoing hypnosis- either by bargaining his vote/Owen's safety in return for Noah's compliance, or by having the rest of Team Chris help in having Noah "face his fear"- which could be a fun little call back to the Phobia Factor episode in Island.
Because Noah was one of the few contestants who never had to face his fear, and it's super convenient that Alejandro is capable of 'helping' him face it. Really, it'd be doing him a favour.
(i.e. Alejandro tries something nefarious in front of potential witnesses.)
And having the rest of the team around for 'moral support' would pressure him into compliance, because Al is only trying to help, and there's nothing scary about hypnosis, and they'll be right here the whole time, he has nothing to worry about. Any arguments he can conjure up to dismiss the idea come off as him simply being too scared to face his phobia, so his protesting is ignored until he eventually gives in. He's a pretty passive person, all things considered, so Noah wouldn't waste his energy fighting a losing battle when it's easier to just get it over with. Even if the idea has his usually unshakable self trembling with fear.
The thing about hypnosis is that, at it's core, it's about settling someone into an agreeable mindset- that's considerably hard to do when the person you're trying to hypnotise near enough has a panic attack every time they see a pendulum. It'd take a lot more effort on Alejandro's part to actually get Noah to fall into a trance, even with the extra assurance of their company. But eventually, Alejandro's talents win out against Noah's fear (and rationality).
And once he's under the trance, Alejandro ushers the rest of their team from the room, claiming that the ensuing hypnotic process is highly volatile and that their presence could hinder/harm Noah's subconscious- or something along those lines. It's all a lie, of course, but Owen and Tyler are both considerate and naïve enough to trust Alejandro's judgement as neither would ever want to intentionally hurt Noah, so they leave Alejandro alone to do his work.
(If Izzy is still part of the team, Alejandro would convince her to leave by giving her some sort of 'special mission', or by sicking her on Chef for yet another Izzy v. Chef smackdown.)
From there it's a question of whether Noah's deep-rooted phobia hinders the effects of hypnosis to the point where he has a natural resistance to the trance and thus does his best to defy him, or if he's just as susceptible to Alejandro's spell as anyone else and lives out the rest of the competition living in constant paranoia because he could be enthralled at any given moment.
Either way, I doubt someone as terrified opposed to the idea of hypnosis would take Alejandro's attempted breach of his autonomy laying down. He'd react a lot more volatilely, fuelled by his all-consuming fear.

Bouncing off my bi ryuji awakening post, im gonna add these tags from it: (separated to make it easier to read)
[#anyway. akira is the guy ever. and ryuji is exploding#‘i have died. badly’#i like thinking of akira like this; hes ryujis first exposure to nb ppl and gnc adjacent stuff#even if akira is p masc by most standards hes still got a bit of. aloofness. about his gender stuffs#ryuji is just really into the way akira carries himself#and it takes him a while to go oh. oh i think its cause i like this dude#um.#😳.
#also i wanted to clarify#but ryujis mom just doesnt know Who akira is in that picture#and in my head hes like. looking down at mona and petting him (while sitting)#(AND hes with ann and theyre both kind of a distance away from the camera)#so at a quick glance; hes just Some Girl#and even though shes wrong; it kicks off the mental chaos olympics in ryujis head#‘what hes not a girl’ to ‘where would she even get that from’ to ‘well akira said himself he didnt rlly care what ppl thought about it’#to ‘well. where DID she get that from?’ to lookin at what his homie does a little closer to ‘aw fuck. man.’#but i love that for him
#ALSO. RYU/GORO IN TAGS…..#but ryuji going oh my GOD oh my godddd 😨😓😓😓 when something clicks in his head about goro#his voice is so practiced and naturally softspoken and his public facing persona is very demure#and once he gets past the initial anger over goro being a pompous prick who shittalks about the thieves. hes like. god fucking dammit.#There Is A Pattern and A Type He Has and Its Killing Him To Realize it.#hes literally sitting in his room w his head in his hands]
Ryuji definitely finds Conventionally Attractive Girls pretty, but he realizes around postgame that he genuinely formed crushes on THREE people; Akira, Makoto, and Goro. And all three of them are people who carry themselves as a bit Soft and Delicate (akira and makoto w their personality and mannerisms, goro w his appearance) while also being deceptively strong. Yusuke WOULD fit into this but hes only strong in the metaverse. Also if u tried to argue that he still finds yusuke pretty, Ryuji would just say ‘yeah duh? Of course???’ and would not elaborate further.
I just think. Its cute 👉🏾👈🏾 Ryuji loves someone whos pretty and capable of knocking him flat on his ass lmao He LOVES a challenge and he likes that they can all challenge him in different ways.
Akira is way stronger than he looks; hes very toned and he used to be quite active before being shipped off to tokyo. And after fighting in the metaverse, hes gotten way better at using an enemies mass and momentum against them. Yeah he can properly knock someone down, but its way easier to let Ryuji charge him and use that momentum to sweep and pin. Which Ryuji remembers vividly for Weeks. Akira is not allowed to spar w him and Makoto for awhile after that.
Makoto is just strong as hell. But shes very defensive, and extremely patient. ‘Ill wait and see before I decide What to do’. Shes got good reaction timing and its hard to catch her offguard. Its very difficult to disorient her so oftentimes, his spars w her are more about endurance. And if he ASKS her to do so, she’ll actually fight him back. He never wins 😭 but she is very patient w him and she doesnt treat him like an idiot. She likes to give him tips and redirect his strengths to make up for his weaknesses and it makes him a bit warm in this chest
Spars w Goro are just fun. Theyre fun! Goro is way more aggressive and reckless than Makoto and Akira. He is looking for openings near constantly and Ryuji has to either keep up or tank hits. Its very. Engaging. For him. Sometimes he loses and Goro is giving him a look so smug, Ryuji wishes he could kick him in his fucking teeth (something he clearly couldnt do bc hes already been knocked flat on his ass). And sometimes he wins, and hes so shocked and HAPPY about it; he doesnt miss the way Goro looks away from him pouting like a brat (‘no fucking way are u POUTING man, what a sore loser 😭’). Goro and his uptight personality is thrown out the window completely and its so fun and refreshing to see. Hes tall and imposing w broad shoulders and toned arms and if Ryuji is staring, he finds himself immediately distracted when Goros cheerful, softspoken voice asks if hes willing to go another round.
I love it 👉🏾👈🏾 Ryujis got a complicated relationship w violence but it helps to have people he trusts engage with it in a way that doesnt make him feel like some brute. Theyre all kind of itching to beat the shit out of things for multiple reasons, but instead of taking that out on each other, they spend time training one another so that they can beat the shit out of OTHER things better. Its an efficient system 😊

So I may have been slightly obsessing over “To sir with love”, as one does, and a thing that has been circling in my head for the last few days is the way Tian's confrontation with his mother at the start of episode 13 and his talk with Yang at the end of the same episode echo and oppose each other.
Madame Li comes to Tian when he is in love, hopeful, begging for a chance at happiness, and how does she respond? She crushes it, with the revelation about Jiu and Mr. Ma yes, but mostly with everything else. You will never know love, she says, except mine. That stifling love who wants him to be someone else, that chips at who he is again and again and again.
Then Yang finds his brother (heart)broken, and Tian holds him back to confess his love, again, now in despair and shame and self loathing. And Yang response to that is as it has always been, that his brother is wonderful just as he is. You deserve love he promises, and I love you I love you I love you. A love with no reservation and for all that Tian is, a love always there.
And they both love Tian, they are both afraid and worried for him, both are going to great lengths to protect him, at this point both believe that Jiu has lied to Tian and played him.
And. Yet.
His mother again puts the blame on him, on who he is, makes him guilty of his own betrayal. His brother reminds him that it's not true, that the betrayer is to blame, and that the fault never laid with him.
And so it's no surprise that Tian pushes away his mother and the prison her love has built around him, but seeks the comfort of his brother's love who has always celebrated who he is.

everyone understands that Will had a hard time helping El and standing up for her because he himself has trauma from being bullied his whole life and doesn't know how to fight them back, his reaction to bullying is to freeze. but suddenly no one understands it when it comes to Mike and he's just called an asshole for not being able to stand up and fight El's bullies
i'm not saying he is innocent and did nothing wrong. he could have done more and just handle the situation better but he was just too focused on Will and was in his head and being the otherthinking oblivious dumbass that he is
but just imagine your girlfriend tells you she is having a good time and has friends, she does not mention anything bad and then suddenly she's getting bullied in front of you. when you've been bullied your whole life your first reaction is to freeze, to panic and just wait and hope it passes quickly and they'll leave you alone. Mike did not have any knowledge about her bullying or having any kind of problems, as long as he was aware those people were her friends. he himself has trauma from being bullied (he literally mentions it later on why yall keep forgetting??) and being suddenly thrown into a situation involving bullying can be really distressing.
when you have experience with being bullied even just seeing someone else getting bullied can make you freeze up and panic. and we know that Mike does not stand up for himself when he's the victim. even when you're not on the receiving end of the bullying but you just see it happening and suddenly you're a scared little kid again holding back tears desperately hoping for them to leave you alone.
and i know everyone wants to yell at me "you forgot about Mike standing up to Troy when they were saying shit about Will! so he can obviously stand up for his friends so why can't he for El??" and no i did not forget and yes you may be right but the situations are different. Mike was very well aware of Troy's bullying. he was involved in it. he was the victim there. he's had to deal with his bullying for years it was not a shocking revelation. however he did not know about El's situation at all and your reaction can be very different when you know about something and when you have no knowledge and it suddenly happens
again i'm not saying that he did nothing wrong. i'm just saying that we need to consider his trauma and his point of view and it could make him think less rationally and therefore not being able to help properly. maybe if he knew beforehand that something could go wrong he could be prepared and he would handle the situation better (even if it would be just them seeing Angela and her friends come and they would turn to Mike and say quickly that those people are mean to El he would still have at least some time and could prepare himself). but he did not know that and he was not prepared for this situation to suddenly escalate like this. he was unprepared and probably panicking and didn't know what to do so no he wasn't much of a help.
and maybe we should stop acting like this traumatised 14 years old kid needs to solve every problem and act rationally in every situation and not to make any mistakes (especially when he has no knowledge to prepare him for something distressing) and overall just putting everything on his shoulders and then insult and hate him when it does not end up perfectly well
and maybe i'm just being my overprotective extremely defensive self who's looking too much into this who knows
and i can't even properly put into words what i'm trying to say but if it makes sense to someone then great!
