Note
as a recovered drug addict and activist, i always find a lot of leftists will support all kinds of bodily autonomy until you say “i think people have a right to do even heroin safely, legally, and cleanly, no not just decriminalization or the needles but like, it’s OK to literally supply people with heroin. and give education on how to properly inject, smoke, and snort it” that’s the ultimate test
Oh yeah that's a good test! I am very much pro drug use and pro decriminalization - and no, I am not just talking about weed and some harm reduction measures. I'm talking about not punishing ANYONE for doing ANY drug, people in active addiction to scary illegal drugs very much included. I'm talking about making ALL drugs regulated, safe and available through legal means. I don't care how "unhealthy" and "bad" drugs can be, turning a debilitating illness into a law enforcement issue literally ruins lives and kills people and it's not actually helping anyone recover from addiction.

Question for whoever might be reading this. It isn’t witchcraft-related, but I think I would love to hear other people’s opinions on this.
Suppose you have two (male) friends. One of them started doing OxyContin in college and decompensated quickly, ended up an opiate addict, and ultimately got clean after a few years, visiting clinics, etc.
The other started out as a normal college athlete, but ended up deciding Trump was the best thing since sliced bread, spent years browsing /pol/, had a Parler account, etc. Vanished for a while, then comes back saying he’s seen the light and suddenly realizes fascism is bad.
In my opinion, the latter person needs to earn back everyone’s trust, and has no business being critical of the first person. True, addiction can lead to ugly situations and there’s stuff to apologize for there. But I’d trust a recovered heroin addict (or even someone still actively using) much more than I’d trust the guy who used to spew slurs at people.

Hey it’s pretty fucked up that like none of you guys ever want to discuss Harry's heroin addiction 😐 it’s also fucked up whenever his schizophrenia is ignored or downplayed but at least sometimes I see it acknowledged. But I have NEVER seen anyone ever even bring up the fact he’s ever had an addiction and IDK that’s starting to come across as though you guys just don’t give a shit about that especially if it’s not “relatable” to you 😐😐

i love the house md episode where he's injecting himself with the experimental muscle-growth drug because you think he's doing heroin and then you find out he's doing something much worse. like i know that by season 7 you've accepted that this show and everyone in it is batshit insane and you're used to it, but "it would be better if he really was doing heroin" is a level of unhinged that's genuinely impressive to reach

Like even if a person is addicted to heroin or another "scary" drug, what we as a society could and SHOULD do is make sure that the heroin is as safe as it can be, and that he has the resources and knowledge required to prevent infections, injuries, overdoses and other serious health risks, and that relevant rehab, treatment, support and detox programs are available to him if/when he decides he wants to pursue them. Punishing him as a dangerous criminal for being an addict isn't going to shame him out of addiction, and that approach is genuinely far more likely to literally kill him than to actually solve the issue
