after all of this tho i still think diluc sucks lol he still irritates me bc it’s clear the game wants you to sympathise and admire him sooooo bad and they lay it on soooo thick when i’m just like :/ no. lmao.
#x#gi posting#i don’t like the way this game consistently shoves down ur throat how ur Supposed to feel abt characters or whatever it’s so annoying#they use paimon as a mouth piece everytime and i’m just like ? no thanks#like they do it consistently w eulas whole story. like narratively the traveller DOES feel sorry and sympathetic towards eula when it’s like#but what if i don’t lol.#i get dilucs deal now though i had been ruminating on his like. motivations/goals for a while now and they make more sense now#his whole thing is to do with self righteousness and believing himself to be the only one able to enact justice into the world#so he neglects or at least has put to the side all other personal issues bc he believes only his vision/delivery judgement takes precedent#and that. is incredibly annoying in terms of his relationships w others#like what’s worse than a self righteous white man lmao. come on#(me being at my most unforgiving and bitter bc i’m a hater at my core£#also random thought but i think it sets up an interesting parallel between diluc - choosing to continue to sort of. enact his fathers legacy#perhaps at the expense of himself and his relationship w others? (in the sense that they do not take precedent !)#vs kaeya - choosing to… ignore(? lol) his fathers legacy/wishes bc of all the ties he has to mondstadt now#and how He actively maintains those familial and friendly relationships bc they’re what matters to him#and how that translates into kaeya more obviously / desperately hinting towards wanting an active/true reconciliation w diluc while diluc is#more like… willing 2 accept what they have as of now. at least until his job of playing judge jury and executioner on all threats to mond#or whatever is finally done (which it never will be lol)#anyways a lot of assumptions and leaps of understanding r made here but it clicks fairly well in my head so i’ll accept it for now#i’ll admit they were on more neutral terms than i thought. tbf not my fault consenting all the interactions#we’d had until this moment were either tense or actively antagonistic lmao#so yeah. sure they care for each other n want to reconcile 2 a certain extent#still only one person rlly putting in most of the work tho

I keep seeing people argue that Aziraphale is "intelligent" or "not a fool" and that this means he can't possibly have fallen for the Metatron's blatant manipulation tactics or still genuinely believe in Heaven's righteousness.
Setting aside the validity of various theories (most of which I at least find interesting, if not outright compelling!) I think there's an issue here, which is that intelligence doesn't protect you from cult-like thinking. Especially not when you've been more or less born and raised in the environment.
In fact, what intelligence tends to do to people who have been indoctrinated into cults (and a cult is exactly what GO Heaven operates like) is give you even more tools for justifying or thinking your way around the contradictions of the cults actions vs message.
We even see Aziraphale do this, several times!
In fact, at the end of S1 doing this is part of what helps save the day. When he points out that Heaven can't know that they aren't defying God's ineffable plan while trying to follow the Great Plan, he's not just talking them into standing down, he's giving them an out. Because the whole Armageddon thing has already gone to shit and cannot proceed without Adam's cooperation, what they're really dealing with at that point is getting Heaven and Hell to accept that without retaliating. Even when Satan shows up it's because he's pissed, not because doomsday is still on.
Aziraphale uses the cult's own logic to give Heaven (and Hell) a plausible reason to back down without completely losing face. They don't have to admit that they were wrong, they can just file everything under "ineffability". Aziraphale pulls this off so well in part because he's been doing this to himself for millennia.
When he doesn't understand or really approve of the Flood, he files it under "ineffability". God has a plan but it's too complex and beyond even angelic comprehension to understand, so there must be a good reason for the Flood, it's just that Aziraphale can't see it. When he sees Heaven being complicit in Job's suffering and the potential murder of his children, he reconciles it by deciding that what God really wants is for him and Bildad to secretly stop it. But he flounders on that later, because to some extent I think he knows that this reasoning is self-serving.
(Knowing it's self-serving doesn't refute it, though, it just means that he worries about that until he talks himself into a bunch of reasons why it's still probably true.)
In S1, when Crowley broaches the subject of the apocalypse, Aziraphale's initial response is to recite the propaganda. It's all going to go according to plan, and it will all be great! When that doesn't work (because of course it won't be great, he's going to end up losing his true home and the person he loves most if this all goes down no matter who wins), he lets Crowley help talk him into how he could thwart the plan without "really" betraying his concept of God.
Basically, if Aziraphale's values come into conflict with Heaven, he decides that God secretly agrees with him. It's very like people who find their values coming into conflict with the institution of their church or temple, and so decide that there's nothing wrong with their actual religion, it's all just normal human corruption (or in GO's case, angelic corruption) muddying the waters of an otherwise purely good thing.
Now in real life of course this gets to be a thorny issue, but keeping it simple there isn't really a total separation between a faith and its institutions. You can't claim that there's nothing in the religion that lends itself to bad takes, just like you also can't claim that any ideology or belief system is invulnerable to corruption. Likewise, even if every bad thing in GO were to turn out to be the fault of Heaven and Hell and not God, God would still be accountable for a lot of the situation because God still set the stage.
But what matters for Good Omens and Aziraphale and this post is that, Aziraphale has put considerable mental energy into justifying how God and Heaven can still be Good and Right even as both of them do things he finds intolerable. Whether it's "God secretly wants me to do what I think is right instead of what I'm being told" or "Heaven has earnestly misinterpreted the will of God due to not knowing as much as I do", he puts his intelligence to use in protecting himself from the kind of revelation that would uproot his worldview.
The only kind of knowledge that actually protects people from cults is the knowledge of how they operate, and awareness that you're dealing with a cult. Aziraphale has a terrible disadvantage on both fronts because even though he's spent years watching humanity get into hot water with this stuff, he does so with the firm perspective that things are different for angels. He can't necessarily apply what works for humans to himself, because he knows he's a different kind of being (and unlike with IRL cults, it's actually true in his case, though I think demons and angels are both less different from humans than they believe).
Though, interestingly, he's closer to a accepting the truth when it comes to the differences between angels and demons. In S1 he is fully confident that he could possess someone, because even though angels don't do that, demons can. Whether he admits it or not, Aziraphale really does believe that Crowley is not meaningfully different from himself in terms of personhood or ability. If he can make the leap to the idea that angels and demons are not exempt from human-oriented concepts of self-determination and free will and unfair treatment by authority, and reconcile it with his own intense distress at challenging a core belief, then the fact that he's quick on the uptake will really start to work in his favor.

Anakin is not racist
oh, man, that was fast!
listen. i’m gonna assume you’re an anakin fan — great! so am i! — but anakin is objectively an awful person and a canonical space-racist. that’s apparent even if you’re new to Star Wars like i am.
from Legends:
Tumblr media
when asked about his view of the tuskens, anakin’s immediate response is “i have no use for tuskens.” i mean, i don’t know what there is to explain about that, because it’s right there. a whole race of people he doesn’t care for because they aren’t “useful,” as if that’s all people are meant to be to him. his issue with them is apparent but he won’t name it.
a’sharad hett directly names anakin’s issue: he is prejudiced. and anakin does not deny this. he “apologizes” but does not specify for what, because he knows he’s supposed to. you don’t just admit you’re a racist, especially not to a Master Jedi. which is exactly what irl racists do, lmfao.
Tumblr media
when push comes to shove, anakin outright SAYS it.
“I know what you are — filthy, sneaking, Tusken! Animals! Hiding behind your masks! Your kind tortured and killed my mother and I’m glad I killed them all!” (Emphasis mine)
like, listen. this is racist as hell. the racist dog whistle is now a racist klaxon, alright. he sees the tuskens as subhuman, as inherently untrustworthy because of their appearance and their culture, and he is not only not bothered by killing them, but he’s happy he did it. you could argue anakin is shielding himself from his guilt with self-righteousness, which i might buy with any other character, but anakin is down right unrepentant.
it wasn’t enough for him to kill the tuskens responsible, which even a’sharad notes would have been acceptable in Tusken culture; anakin wanted them all dead, because they’re all guilty to him solely by virtue of being Tusken. this anger and hatred and bigotry pushes anakin to even lash out against a’sharad, a tusken jedi, fully dropping any pretense that he is okay with a’sharad despite him being half-tusken and a jedi. because you know what anakin is following? the ONE DROP RULE! even a drop of Tusken blood is too much tusken.
Tumblr media
and still the wrong lessons are learned. for some godforsaken reason a’sharad learns he needs to be seen as a Jedi first and not a Tusken, which is not only antithetical to the Jedi way, but totally opposite to the point of this encounter, which is that we are all many things all at once, and pretending otherwise leads to destruction. anakin is a jedi and a murderer and a racist and the chosen one. ignoring the unsavory and cruel parts of him, never exposing him to the jedi council, and hoping his “better nature” would win out over time ensured that it never would. a’sharad is a Tusken and a jedi and many other things, but his wrongful assumption that pushing aside his heritage will gain him favor eventually causes more problems for him.
Tumblr media
the only reason anakin and a’sharad stop fighting is because a’sharad removes his mask, revealing, tada, a hot human face! now anakin is capable of an insincere apology. but he still assumes the markings on a’sharad were forced on him, because he still believes tuskens are a barbaric and cruel people. then the moment is moved past so they can escape.
Tumblr media
and despite this shit-ass “heart to heart,” anakin walks away with zero appreciation for a’sharad or the Tusken culture. he fails a’sharad’s lesson: it’s not that he can’t see a’sharad as human, as a person, as a jedi, it’s that he won’t, because he is attached to his view of the tuskens as lesser than, because it excuses his behavior, because it makes him righteous, because it makes him feel better, because it solidifies his entitled view of the world. which is exactly how irl racism and whiteness work.
Tumblr media
and the final word on the subject is this. when all is said and done and anakin is asked if he would kill the tuskens again, knowing what he knows about them now, his answer is a cold, unmoved, “Yes.”
now, i know the Legends comics are not officially canon; the new canon is whatever Disney chooses to use and whatever appears in the movies. however, even if we just look at the clone wars, which are now canon to the Disney SWU, there are several instances in TCW where anakin makes disparaging comments about another species’ appearance, intelligence, and capability. i don’t have those on hand because i am not trawling through 7 seasons for quotes for you, but you can find them if you want to look.
my final thought here is this: i am not disparaging anakin fans (fanakins, if you will); like i said earlier, i am fascinated by his character, and enjoy him as a concept. what i am doing here is asking you (especially if you’re white) to consider the lengths to which fandom goes to ignore the very obvious signs that anakin is not just genocidal but racist. like him all you want but don’t ignore that part because that makes you uncomfortable. he kills kids. that’s not any better than being racist.
understanding the role of racism in his depiction, and his turn to fascism, only aids your storytelling and view of him, because it’s true to life. society is willing to ignore massive red flags if someone is white (and in Star Wars universe, we’ll add “human” to the list), male, and conventionally attractive. obi-wan is willing to ignore these things because he is the same, and because anakin does not treat HIM this way, obi-wan can blindly believe anakin would never treat anyone like this — which is, again, a phenomenon people of color call out often, where white people will say “X can’t be racist because he’s never said anything racist around me!” well yeah. because why would he? nevermind the fact that obi-wan and ahsoka witness anakin treating non-human suspects with extreme prejudice, abusing his power and authority as a jedi to get what he wants, and worse. anakin is and always has been a shitty racist cop on a power trip, but because he worked with “good cops” and knew better than to say anything out loud, he got away with it until he killed them all too.
this all feeds into the concept that while anakin’s fall is tragic, it is by no means unexpected. the only reason the main characters of the prequels are surprised is because they willingly looked away from the warning signs. the characters who didn’t — the Council, Mace, even Ahsoka at some points — are vilified by anakin, and because the main characters love anakin and have an attachment to him being the chosen one, they believe anakin over those who are suspicious of him and ignore or downplay the warnings until it’s all too late. the tragedy of anakin isn’t a tragedy of not being loved enough, or having people fail you; it’s the tragedy of refusing to get help, of refusing to let go of things even when they hurt you, it’s the tragedy of the bitter man drinking poison to kill someone ekse, and it’s the tragedy of the bystander: of what happens when we all stand by and watch people we love do terrible things without stopping them, because we’re as afraid of them not loving us anymore as we are of confronting what it means that we still want to love and be loved by cruelty.
tl;dr: anakin skywalker is racist and prejudiced. you can still like him as a character; this is not a moral judgment. but maybe you should prod at your like at him a little, and investigate the ways in which both anakin as a character and the fandom’s dismissive view of his many faults is indicative of the insidious way racism and whiteness works irl. especially if you’re white.

unexpected theory that i stumbled upon
I am in a JOJOLands discord server and a member of the server had this theory that I think should be shared. They plan on posting the full scope of it on Reddit (so I'll add the link to it here when it gets posted). In the meantime, I'm gonna summarize what I've found based on their discussions so far and add my own theories to it.
(This will be a long one :P)
Tumblr media
The theory in particular involves the star emblem Jodio poses in that has numbers at each arrow.
Tumblr media
On one hand, those numbers could simply be counting each point or is in reference to how there has been 9 parts for JoJo so far. But... what if the numbers are in refrence to this instead:
Tumblr media
This is the Enneagram of Personality, a personality assessment that consists of nine personality traits. It's a system that focuses on a person's emotions regarding motivations and fears. Each of the nine personality types is defined by a particular core belief about how the individual thinks the world works. It's believed no one really changes from their numbers but one can relate to more than one number and each number has levels ranging from "healthy" to "unhealthy" that a person can resonate with over time. What's interesting is that the Ennegram is made to resemble a star, with the number 3, 6, and 9 working as a triad that symbolizes wholeness.
There are other details regarding the arrows such as sub-types, wings, and arrows, but we're going to focus more on the surface stuff in this post (the Reddit post can dive deeper). But, how does this relate to The JOJOLands?
Well, what if you place the numbers with the arrows? Not just literally but let's also have it match more with the Ennegram as well. Let's also try to put the numbers aligned in two different ways (images created by the person on the server).
With the numbers aligned vs with the empty arrow pointing upwards:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
We can call the first one the original placement and the second one the "inverted" placement to differentiate the two.
But, there's more. Do you remember what the cover art for "Chapter 8: Let's Look at Luxury Watches" is? Remember how it shows the same emblem but with the 5 known characters at the moment?
Tumblr media
It looks like each character is associated with a particular point of that emblem. Let's put the Ennegram numbers on them and see what they look like with the original placement and the "inverted" placement. The original OP also made these images.
Original Numbers vs Inverted Numbers:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why does this all matter?
It obviously looks like the characters aren't just decorated around the star emblem but each one is associated with a number on the Ennegram. With the inverted, it also appears as if most of them change numbers.
Now, if you look at the numbers they're associated with in the "before" photo, you realize their personalities align with the numbers in the Ennegram.
Jodio has the ambitious goal of becoming obscenely rich. He prides himself for being reliable, getting the job done with no questions asked and mentioned how being this way gained him praise and money among other things. His recent diagnosis makes him speculate he could be a psychopath. 3s are are goal-oriented, viewing success as being praised for their achievements, and they act with efficiency. Their ambition can cause them to be relentless, even psychopathic.
Rohan is looked up to by Jodio among others and is considered a creative, inspiring individual due to his success as a mangaka and the perfection he strives to have in his works. Despite his actions towards the team, he continously warned them of danger during their interaction and even advises Jodio before they part ways. 1s are known to be perfectionists due to their creativity and their self-awareness, which inspires many. This belief makes them think they're different from others, which can translate to being critical of others and an air of self-righteousness due to their moral compass believing they are better than others.
Usagi is considered an oddball since the beginning yet proves his potential with how intelligent and inqusitive he is. Even if it got the team out of trouble in some cases, his approach is unconventional and he is still considered a troubled individual to his peers, even rejected from further connections. 5s are known to be inquisitive and would spend hours observing and experimenting every detail and concept to gain more knowledge if given the opportunity. However, going too far with their discoveries makes them very eccentric and their desire to seek knowledge can eventually drive them to insanity.
Paco is a kleptomaniac addicted to stealing due to the rush it gives him and, despite being academically weak, is a very capable fighter and planner of the group. He's rather rash with his decisions but can take control of any situation, especially in a fight. 7s are known for being quick on their feet, able to plan and act on instincts when the situation calls for it, and make up their lack of studiousness with their street smarts. But, this impulsiveness and desire to act on energy means their addictions can lead to self-destruction much faster due to how much energy they go through and they could be associated with BPD.
Dragona goes out of the way to avoid further fallout or conflict deemed unnecessary or cause further trouble. They engage in peaceful things like yoga and is the voice of calmness and trust that contrast Jodio's more violent nature. 9s are known as peacemakers, valuing harmony and simplicity above all, which makes others trust them due to how stable they seem. This stubborness to keep peace can put them in a state of disorientation and reclusiveness that can manifest into multiple personalities.
While some believe Ennegram numbers don't change over time, seeing the inverted numvers show different numbers seem to indicate that the characters we see will evolve into their new numbers as the story progresses. This may foreshadow what will happen to each character or what they will become in the end.
2s are known to be empathetic, putting others first as givers, and desire to be loved above everything, yet it can be seen as manipulative and lead to self-victimization.
4s are known to be authentic, finding creativity and deep connections with others, but can fall into despair when dreams and hope are lost.
See 5, 7, and 9 above.
Jodio as a 2 means he could become more loving to others and take on the typical Joestar personality of pursuing justice and determination due to empathy. It doesn't necessarily mean he's "cured" of his inability to feel guilt or have no affection to others beyond his family, but it may indicate him learning to find connections and going on some sort of self-discovery as a result. At the same time, the happiness he desired could be interpeted as love he yearns to feel for, and he could be changing his purpose of pursuing riches to fit more of a 2.
Rohan as a 4 is harder to speculate what will become of him besides a possible return. We know little of Rohan's full personality in The JOJOLands but we know Rohan as an arrogant, discourteous perfectionist from previous iterations. This does seem to imply Rohan will be a more present mentor who embraces more of his imperfections and increasing an appreciation towards those around him. He's sort of started doing that already with Jodio at the end of chapter 5.
Dragona as a 5 means they may start becoming less avoidant and more assertive and proactive in taking control of the situation. I speculate they have some sort of block that discourages them from doing this currently, maybe due to lack of confidence or having a not-so strong Stand compared to Jodio or Paco. Or, maybe being in Jodio's shadow has made them comfortable with doing minimal work. Regardless, they are finally able to show themselves as their own Joestar and fighter in their own right. As a possible 5, this also means Dragona may discover something ground-breaking and it could lead to some major sacrifice; possibly, Dragona's life may end as a result.
Paco remains a 7, which I find interesting but understandable if there needs to be a balance between characters that dramatically change and characters that remain constant; Paco in this case is the latter. Still, Paco could become either a better or a worser version of a 7 to show how much he's changed as the plot continues. I could be possible that Paco becomes more valued for his quick mind despite his lack of intelligence or his addiction to stealing and being impuslive causes issues with the team and ultimately his downfall instead.
Usagi becoming a 9 points two scenarios. On one hand, his transformation points him to be an ultimate traitor. Maybe the reactions to his eccentricities results in him feeling like he needs to hide more of himself and pushes him to villainy because of rejection. On the other hand, Usagi may come to realize he doesn't need to be complex and go beyond to try making friends, so he starts feeling more at ease. Either way, it seems like Usagi still has a wall of sorts hiding who he really is and becoming a 9 might reveal it soon.
We don't know too much about Knife Guy so far, but I'm guessing he's either going to be a 7 like Paco or a 2 who eventually becomes a 3. In the case of the latter, it could be due to Knife Guy pursuing the gang out of orders and following them to gain validation while lacking his own agency. Becoming a 3, especially under Paco's mentorship, may lead him to think about his own goals and ambitions instead of aiding the goals and ambitions of others.
The Enneagram also explains how the Stands work too. The Reddit post can go more into how these personalities relate to not just the characters but their Stand abilities and what the Stands might evolve into.
With that out of the way, I now want to talk about my two cents: the main villain.
What number would the main villain be? After all, there are 9 numbers total and only 5 (6 including Knife guy as I'm writing this) characters identified.
If we look at the chart and the inverted chart, there are only two numbers that remain untouched: 6 and 8. Coincidentally, they are the "inverses" of each other.
Between the 2 numbers, the main villain most likely will start as a 6 before turning into an 8. If you look at the Ennegram, the most obvious triad shown is the 369. I mentioned earlier how these three numbers hold significance in the Ennegram.
Tumblr media
If Jodio and Dragona already took the positions of 3 and 9 respectively and no other character is a 6 so far, the main villain would most likely be the one to hold the 6 position. As a 6, this also implies they start out very close to Dragona and Jodio prior to becoming the main villain going against them. In terms of how close, a mutual friend or a relative is most likely since the two Joestars are siblings and the closest to each other in their gang. The main villain can also be someone completely unrelated but due to their role in society they are a major, unknown influence in Jodio and Dragona's life. Regardless, whoever it is will still fit being a 6 who becomes an 8.
If we look at the 6 and 8 traits on the Ennegram, something interesting comes up:
6s are seen as reliable. They are dedicated and ride-or-die with what they believe in, find security in having these loyalties. However, they can be driven to hysteria and dependency on what they believe in, being in deep denial when the beliefs starts failing, and then being lost when it crosses a point of no return.
8s are seen as assertive. They are the epitome of the ideal hero, confident in what they do and they end up becoming the voice to those who are saved or supported by them. Their actions, if left unchecked, can be seen as delusional and domineering, and some 8s are known to have ASPD and be sociopaths.
It seems like the main villain starts off as someone very loyal to some sort of system they support and are a part of. Something then happens (such as corruption, betrayal, and/or realization) changes them from a 6 into an 8. As an 8, they start doing things as a means of addressing the issue they found with this system that caused their change. They could be trying to save, improve, reform, or destroy it, and their actions cause more harm than good despite believing they are doing otherwise. Whatever the case, it clashes with what Jodio wants and thus making them a main antagonist preventing Jodio from his goals and harming his loved ones in the process.
What is the system, then? We don't exactly know but we have some possibilities.
The system could be something tangible and visible. The American legal system could be an example; we end up with a main villain who is a police officer, judge, lawyer, or social worker. Another example is American capitalism; someone as low as a migrant worker or as high as a CEO could become a main villain. Both could be individuals who feel mistreated by the system or has an epiphany on how to optimize it and both ways lead to them wanting to heavily alter said system at the cost of many lives.
Alternatievly, the system could be a more philosophical and invisible. A great example of this is the mechanisms. We end up with a main villain who either failed to achieve their goals because of it or succeeded yet remained unsatisfied. We can even have someone who started out with a similar life and goals as Jodio. In that case, the main villain could be some sort of warning of what would have happened to Jodio if he didn't change his ways.
In both cases, the main villain becomes someone who is a "hero" or "a voice to the people" because their change leads them to find followers that feel like they are being heard as a result of the main villain taking action for it. There are many careers that can allow someone to become such a voice, such as cult or religious leaders, social media influencers, celebrities, politicians, and more. Especially with how social media has made parasocial relationships prevalent, this could bring a new concept of betrayal that is seen today; think of modern influencer stardom or Asian idol culture. Similar to how DIO would have loyal minions sent to deter and defeat the gang in part 3, the followers of the main villain may become minor villains trying to stop the gang in part 9.
It seems to make sense that a villain would be an 8 because the last three villains we had could be described as 8s. Pucci wanted everyone to understand their destined fate, Funny Valentine wanted America to be a great nation, and Tooru wanted to change society for the sake of Rock Humans. All three were people of influence like mentioned above relative to where they worked (GDSP's Chaplain, president of the United States, Head Doctor of T.G. University Hospital respectively) and all 3 thought they were doing something good for a group of people. So, I speculate the main villain is in a similar boat and his attempts of doing something good may end up clashing Jodio's plans.
Something you might notice is that all the numbers have an associated personalty or mental disorder/symptom associated with them. This happens if the individual falls into the "unhealthy" levels of the number they are associated with. Note: they don't mean you will end up with such symptoms but rather they can explain why you have developed them. Most of the things listed repeat itself in some way and are rather generic (acts of self-destruction, having some sort of dependency or addiction, and becoming reclusive) but there are some that have specific diagnosis like BPD and multiple personalities listed.
What's interesting is ASPD and sociopathy is associated with the 8 personality. As someone who was diagnosed with ASPD by his school psychotherapist, you would think Jodio should have been an 8 for this reason and maybe start out as an 8 before becoming a 6. Instead, he starts as a 3, which does mention psychopathy, but that's about it, and he's expected to become a 2. Could this hint that Jodio's diagnosis is wrong (since the test itself is sketchy and diagnosing somone with that tends to be difficult to quantify in practice)? Or, is this going to end up being a battle between two individuals with ASPD and this could be some weird story about nature vs nurture (Jodio as nature and the main villain as nurture)?
I do wonder what this would all mean for Jodio and the rest of his gang. Even though Rohan mentions someone from the 3 of the gang members being potential traitors, the main villain is set up to be the ultimate betrayer of sorts. This is especially because of the potential that the main villain is very close to Jodio and Dragona, and it makes me speculate the main villain being someone like their estranged father, Meryl Mei, or maybe even Barbara Ann. When someone once mentioned the possibility of Josuke/Gappy becoming a villain, this theory puts him on the table too.
What do you guys think?

I've noticed that, probably due to a desire to alleviate the grim nature of the original, many xuexiao fanfic writers opt to focus on (twisted or fluffy) romantic feelings of the characters. The emphasis ends up being on their romantic / platonic / sexual attraction rather than their incredibly juicy ideological contest and the antagonistic tension mixed with intrigue that Xue Yang shows towards Xiao Xingchen. Basically, there is too much 'lovers / froends' and not enough 'enemies' in their enemies - to - lovers / friends story. (I'm not criticising that. I'm a sucker for their mushier side too. But I'm equally a sucker for a good brutal battle of creeds.)
So let me fill this gap by describing how DELICIOUS the exploration of the 'you're my enemy and u SUCK and your worldview is RIDICULOUS but I LOVE rotating you in the microwave testing the limits of your resolve' aspect is or can be. I'll use some moments from the show / novel that I find striking in this regard.
XXC is very kind but lacks the worldly experience to be spot - on empathetic (as others have pointed out). He's also rigid to a fault. This is a VERY unpopular interpretation of mine but I believe he can be selfish / negligent in his goodness - he sheds caution about possible repercussions on his near ones in his mission to fight evil. He was smart enough to figure out the Chang massacre and trace it to XY. He knows XY is incredibly vengeful and creative in his vengeance. He's had experience with powerful people who will obstruct justice. Yet he goes ahead with prosecuting XY even when Jin Guangshan acts shady and uncooperative. Didn't he consider that this might put a target on his well - known partner Song Lan ?
Welp, then the Baixue bloodbath happens and XXC very understandably blames himself. I know we like to say it wasn't his fault, and of course it technically wasn't, but he did commit a grave error in not thinking through the consequences. It could be a miscalculation, negligence or even cavalier tunnel - vision, depending on your opinion. But anyway, XXC's morale is shattered and as others (like ameliarating) have said, he determined to never end up harming others in his quest for righteousness again.
XY wiped out Baixue for revenge, but also to kill XXC's hopes and vision, again also mentioned by others. May be a stretch, but it could be XY's way of saying 'hah, you don't care to understand why the world is as awful as it is, and then blame ME for doing shitty things to live it up in a shitty world. So let me show you how things actually work, and why my existence and lifestyle are valid.' It's like a really fucked up method of self - affirmation for XY. (Just in case - I am neutral on XY's actions. The novel doesn't give us much insight into his thoughts, so I'll withhold judgement on the nature vs. nurture debate about XY. But he's definitely an interesting character).
Then XY starts infiltrating XXC's life in Yi City. Why does he stick around after healing ? I like to think it's initially because he's a) taking advantage of XXC's generous freebies cuz why not and b) wants to torment him, yes, but he's also very very curious about XXC. Maybe it's because XXC's still out here trying to do good when many people would've either quit and hardened their hearts, or been broken irreparably. So XY think's he'll get both schadenfreude and try to find out why this dumbass saved a highly suspicious dying man and continued on his goody goody quest instead of learning his lesson. The lesson XY tried to teach him. Maybe XXC's whole deal makes XY wonder how his life would be if he'd acted nicer and more socially acceptable. Would it have saved him any pain ? Would he have had true allies then ? Did he choose a life of callous crime because he is weak - willed and 'inferior' unlike the seemingly unbreakable superiority of XXC ?
So he makes XXC kill on 'night - hunts'. Perhaps to prove that XXC got manipulated into doing harm cuz he's dumb or full of hubris and refuses to wisen up, refuses to become more cynical and wary of people. This ties back into Baixue too. Also I think the book mentions the victims are residents who mocked / cheated XXC ? If that's true, it's like XY is 'introducing' XXC to taking bloody revenge just like XY did on the Chang clan and others who crossed him / his pals. Like he's enacting teaching XXC 'look, if you keep up the good deeds, eventually you'll meet someone who ruins you so you destroy that hope for humanity and become just like me. Your way will always end in disaster, and therefore I'm justified in living like I do.'
Of course, in the end XY realises that XXC's drive to better society was his way of coping with the harsh reality of humans, especially after being ousted from BSSR's mountain. XXC didn't want to live in a sordid world. Meanwhile XY's coping mechanism was to extort the sordid world for all he wanted.
There's a tiny moment in CQL where, after the fake night hunt slaughter, XXC walks past a smirking XY and his arm brushes XY's sleeve, whose grin grows larger. It's like XY's relishing in XXC so casually touching and hanging about him totally unawares. Also he's horny for XXC's combat skills.
So yeah. Antagonist obsessed with corrupting his enemy, wrapping him around his finger, but not willing to let go. He ended up being totally down to bask in XXC's obstinate kindness despite that being the very thing he wanted to disprove and destroy.
XXC hesitates to kill XY after the reveal. What does he get from XY? Maybe it was reassuring that someone as hard - hearted and self - centred as his friend was willing to stick around in no man's land with him. It's soothing because it makes it seem like the world isn't that cruel, that perhaps the potential for good exists in people, hence helping XXC cope with his existential anxiety. He has to hold on to that hope even as his friend's identity is revealed, else there's nothing left for him since he can't bear to live in a world of evil and exploitation.
Why didn't XY move on after XXC's suicide ? If all he wanted was acceptance and shelter, he could've found so many other options. No, he was obsessed with XXC cuz he thought that if someone perfectly willing to kill him in the past over morals hesitated to kill him in the end, it must be an actual stable love. Where else, he thinks, would be find someone who loved him enough to not kill him despite them being such hostile opposites by character and circumstance ? Lots of people could love him cuz they agreed with his worldview or found it / him expedient. Who would love him even when their entire identity and misery opposed it ?

🍁 ALHAITHAM — VULTUR VOLANS
Tumblr media
Writing papers could take days to finish, and sometimes, people would spend doing them without an ounce of sleep. Others found this righteously wrong, while some wished to accomplish it immediately to gain free time. The Akademiya worked their students to the bone, but with the recent changes, things had slowed down a little bit.
“Input the findings on elemental sights, and we’re done.” You muttered, placing your quill back in its place. A tired sigh escaped your lips, eyes beginning to close from the exhaustion catching up with your body.
A knock on the door jolted you awake. With a weak ‘Come in’, the infamous Scribe let himself in. He was not one to interrupt people with their work, but you had been holed up in your room for hours now. The smell of breakfast signaled you that it was already morning.
“You’re finally done?” He asked. You nodded the wobbled over to him. He noticed your tired self and carried you to the couch. When times like this, he knew that you rather energized yourself in his lap while he read than take the bed. It was strange at first, but he got used to it.
Without question, he sat you in his lap and read his book. His left hand rested on your hip as you doze off, shutting down after squeezing your brain of ideas. Soon, solace found your mind which made Alhaitham smile. He continued his morning with you in his arms.
“Alhaitham! How dare you report to Lesser Lord that—“ The door was slammed open which made you whimper at the sound, eyes remaining closed. Alhaitham silenced Kaveh by throwing a barrage of pillows and using his vision to chase him out. Nobody was allowed to interrupt his time with you, not even his annoying roommate.
“Sleep well, Flower.”
Tumblr media
🍁 KAVEH — PARADISAEA
Tumblr media
“That’s why I told you not to touch it! I can’t believe we barely made it out of that.” You huffed, looking back at the temple that had already closed. Whirring sounds could be heard inside, and you feared that this was another case similar to that of the Court of Desolation.
“Sorry! I thought nothing would come out of that. By the way, did you get pictures of the walls and columns? I only got a few.” Kaveh inquired. You took out the device and nodded. The intricate designs lent to each portion of the temple amazed you, not to mention the technology the desert hid. It was simply what made your blood excited.
Kaveh could see the excited look on your face and lightly chuckled. It was adorable. Discoveries like these often make you irrational, but the pure joy in your eyes was something that drew him in. He loved how you babble about the desert’s technology, culture, and even history. People in the Akademiya might deem you a weirdo, but isn’t that institution full of them? Take Alhaitham for example. He admitted that the man was smart, but he had yet to recognize true humility. Not to mention, his radical ways made people question his sanity.
‘Ugh… Why am I thinking of that idiot?’ The blonde huffed. With a shake of his head, he asked that you two find an oasis to rest. You nodded.
It took about an hour to find the nearest one in the area. Luckily, there were no Eremites to handle and only a few monsters were in sight. After settling down and eating dinner, you took out the pictures as well as your thesis paper. He could see your excitement as you drafted your findings, and he was pulled in.
‘I must have used my whole year's luck just to have you be with me.’ He joked to himself. You turned to him, talking about the energy amplifier you found inside but stopped when he stared at you so intently. Tender crimson eyes illuminated by the soft glow of the moon.
“Why must my boyfriend look this ethereal?” You pouted. Kaveh’s eyes widened before he laughed out loud. You huffed then pulled him down for a kiss.
“I love you.” You whispered, adornment donning your face.

🍁 TIGHNARI — VULPES ZERDA
Tumblr media
The crisp scent of morning air in the Avidya Forest was nothing new to the residents of Gandharva Ville. However, they embraced the tranquility it brought. A new day meant another chance to continue the tasks that were unfinished the day before, while for some, it was their awaited day off. This was the case for you and Tighnari.
With how busy the forest rangers had been last month, you basically forced Tighnari to rearrange his schedule and take one day off after checking that this week’s patrols were going to be light. It was not easy trying to coax the Forest Watcher, but he gave in after a few puppy eyes from you and Collei. He could not let sadness and disappointment ever coat your bright eyes. He promised that when he courted you after all.
The smell of freshly cooked mushroom hodgepodge and pita pockets wafted through the air. Tighnari opened his eyes and saw you plating the breakfast. His eyes twinkled in amusement at how adorable you looked, humming a soft tune that would surely bring him back to dreamland should you sing it and run your hand through his hair.
With a yawn, Tighnari rose from his sleep and trotted towards you. The warm hug startled you, but you lightly laughed at how clingy your boyfriend had been. He was holding on to you that you ended up dragging him around your shared home while you finish setting the table. Once you were done, you gently placed him in his chair and went to yours to eat.
“I added new mushrooms in the fray after your recent research. I can’t believe it went well with this dish! It’s so good! Ah! This sauce too!” You grinned. Tighnari could not help but stare. You looked so divine, enjoying your food to your heart’s content.
‘Ah, I love her so much.’ He thought to himself. He may not express his affection in normal ways couples would do, but he knew that he had his own ways to tell you that he cared. In his eyes, there was only you.
“Here, try this one, Love.” You reached out for a piece of the meal you made for him. Tighnari wasted no effort and bit on it.
“It’s delicious. You should make this more often.” He stated, making you smile even more. Times like these were rare, and you will treasure them.

Can I ask something from Code Geass? What do you think are Lelouch and Suzaku’s greatest personality strengths and weaknesses? Why? What do you love about their dynamic? Sorry if you've answered these questions before.....
i haven't actually! thank you so much for sending this. thoughts in the read more below!
the thing abt suzaku and lelouch that really called to me was that they are two sides of the same coin. theyre both altruistic to a fault (different but the same), they love far too deeply (not talking abt this in a ship way either. both lelouch and suzaku do things out of love for others that is...questionable at best), they don't really understand the situation as a whole, and they don't really face major consequences to the end. lelouch is cruel, selfish, manipulative. suzaku is uncritical, righteously full of self loathing, half-hearted. theyre both major fucking hypocrites. they hate each other for the same reason they work so well together. (they love each other for those same reasons, too.) they're kind and optimistic to a fault. they're children playing war.
easily my favorite scene in all of code geass is one of the final scenes during the damocles battle, when the core argument between what lelouch stood for and what suzaku stood for is contended between the entire cast of characters, jumping from statement to statement, viewpoint from viewpoint. not only do suzaku and lelouch have their own quips but the other characters are what really make it for me because those are all people who are just as alive and have just as many feelings as they do--but at the end of the day none of that matters to them, such symbolized by the finale and zero requiem. their world was always so small, suzaku, lelouch, and nunnally. the final punishment was to destroy that in such a way that it could never be restored, that nothing could ever be the same. it's a much crueler punishment for suzaku, but i think lelouch knows suzaku well enough to know that suzaku would not be able to truly live (if you can even call it that, haha) without being molded into being something he is not (he was regarded as a knight and hero when all he saw himself as was a murdered.) but in the same breath, lelouch knowing that, accepting that part of suzaku, it being his final parting gift, his form of an eternity together... its powerful!
its kind of funny because code geass has its moments where the writing is so very much Not Good but then it also has these amazingly complex interwoven moments sprinkled in. personally, i actually grew up always asking myself whether its better to change the system without any casualty whatsoever vs dismantling it no matter the price, so i see myself in the both of them, though i agree with lelouch far more. truthfully, i didnt even like suzaku until after he detonates the fleija in r2 and he tells schneizel that as long as he makes him knight of one, he will slay the emperor. it took him a while, but he finally showed his own truth, understanding his fate as a weapon above all else.
its an anime with characters that are more complex than they look, parallels that run deeper than i believe many give credit for (dont get me started on shirley), and the truth of war, though maybe a bit sanitized. that being said, code geass would be Nothing without suzaku and lelouch at its helm, the true driving forces of the narrative and even the world of code geass itself.
those two are truly one of a kind.

More of my 'Sherlock Holmes through the lens of Discworld' thoughts, because why have one fixation when two will do
This week Holmes solved the case of The Blue Carbuncle, i.e. 'I stole a gem and hid it somewhere very stupid and now I cannot retrieve it from that place, oh no, this has all gone wrong, I am dumb'. The thief in question is James Ryder, a servant for the gem's owner who is framing John Horner, a plumber he called round to fix something in the house.
Anyway, not very important except to say Ryder does not get away with the crime even a LITTLE bit - he loses track of the gem immediately and it ends up in Holmes's living room and so does he. Horner meanwhile is sitting in a cell with the police not believing that he has no idea what they're on about.
When Holmes tells Ryder that he knows he stole it, Ryder collapses completely. He was already sitting down in a chair and somehow manages to fall on the floor, they have to give him brandy, then he begs pathetically:
Ryder threw himself down suddenly upon the rug and clutched at my companion's knees. "For God's sake, have mercy!" he shrieked. "Think of my father! Of my mother! It would break their hearts. I never went wrong before! I never will again. I swear it. I'll swear it on a Bible. Oh, don't bring it into court! For Christ's sake, don't!"
He does the obligatory First Person Narration Of The Whole Story that Watson always puts in here, and concludes:
"My sister thinks that I am going mad. Sometimes I think that I am myself. And now—and now I am myself a branded thief, without ever having touched the wealth for which I sold my character. God help me! God help me!" He burst into convulsive sobbing, with his face buried in his hands.
He is a horrible little man and he would have sent Horner to prison with no remorse whatsoever if he hadn't lost the gem, but honestly you can't help but feel a bit sorry for him anyway. Holmes certainly does, chucking him out of the house on the basis that he probably won't do it again, Horner will go free anyway if Ryder doesn't testify and "it is the season of forgiveness" - as well as the famous line "I am not retained by the police to supply their deficiencies." He's not a cop. He can do things like this, if he feels like it.
The Discworld connection is to the Hedge Argument Murder. (Incidentally, if you google that, the FIRST result is that there have been several of these in real life, before and after the book came out. Hedges are serious business.) Sam contemplates copper-ness in Night Watch...
Keep the peace. That was the thing. People often failed to understand what that meant. You'd go to some life-threatening disturbance like a couple of neighbours scrapping in the street over who owned the hedge between their properties, and they'd both be bursting with aggrieved self-righteousness, both yelling, their wives would either be having a private scrap on the side or would have adjourned to the kitchen for a shared pot of tea and a chat, and they expected you to sort it out.
And they could never understand that it wasn't your job. Sorting it out was a job for a good surveyor and a couple of lawyers, maybe. Your job was to quell the impulse to bang their stupid fat heads together, to ignore the affronted speeches of dodgy self-justification, to get them to stop shouting and to get them off the street. Once that had been achieved, your job was over. You weren't some walking god, dispensing finely-tuned natural justice. Your job was to simply bring back the peace.
Of course, if your few strict words didn't work and Mr Smith subsequently clambered over the disputed hedge and stabbed Mr Jones to death with a pair of gardening shears, then you had a different job, sorting out the notorious Hedge Argument Murder. But at least it was one you were trained to do.
People expected all kinds of things from coppers, but there was one thing that sooner or later they all wanted: make this not be happening.
In this lovely Christmas story, Holmes sees a man who wants more than anything in the world for this not to be happening - to just be able to take it all back - to be forgiven. Even though he's not particularly deserving. And because he's not a cop, he can give it to him.

God of War: Ragnarok, Sindri
I like Sindri. He's my fav character in the game. This was the only GoW game I played so I only have this one to reference. But I really am a sucker for characters who are so kind and so giving and tries their best and always wants to do good, always does good, always aims for good. Nothing but good. But even when all they aim to give to the world is nothing but good, the world isn't karmic. "What did I get out of it?" he asks. "Not even family anymore," he says. They get pain in return.
And I like characters who are weak. Who get ugly. Was it really Atreus and Kratos's fault his brother died? Did they kill him? Of course not. He knows that. "I thought we were family too" Atreus says. "We were," Kratos says. It's why Sindri tolerates Kratos at Brok's funeral. Lets Kratos even carry his corpse.
Despite knowing that, Sindri changes around them completely. He was once someone who welcomed both into his home, assured all their needs were met and that they were comfortable, helped with all sorts of favors and even shared secrets with them: Atreus especially. Then he turned into someone who spouted nothing but bitter blame towards Atreus, who has to hold himself back from rushing at Kratos with rage. Someone who won't even be around them anymore when he once tried to keep them company.
They both really were his family. No matter how he feels about them after loss doesn't change that fact. And losing Brok didn't have to change that. They could help Sindri. They could support him in his grief. It's a shared one. He knows that. Yet he can't accept them as family anymore. He rejects them. Loss does terrible things to someone, and for Sindri it's isolation and blame. He lost his family, and it wasn't just Brok. He didn't have to lose everyone else. But he did. Grief turned him to a spiteful monster. He's not a perfect picture of a person handling grief with grace. They let him transform. Let him be irrational. Let him be ugly.
My favorite characters in general fall into this type.
Sayaka Miki from Madoka wanted to uphold justice and righteousness but eventually crumbled under the weight of the reality she brought upon herself (with some trickery by her contractor), even so far as murdering two men in the manga version. She wanted to be a savior but hid from her hypocrisy, wanting to be good-hearted and selfless but unable to reach this, turning bitter and hateful when she realizes she actually wants something in return for the good she does. I like characters who fail.
Leander from Touchstarved has associated lyrics going "The life I've had can make a good man bad." He behaves and speaks for what is morally right yet we know he's a monster just like all the other main characters. He's the leader of good samaritans for the struggling...and likely also a gang. He's got failure to be good going on. Masking.
And of course the funny guy that's taken over my whole blog lately, Baxter Ward of Our Life. Another case of self-perpetuated despair. All the hurt he deals is in an attempt to mitigate it. He fools himself into believing it's for the sake of Jamie, but realizes in the end that he was also saving himself the pain of possibly being left behind. Selfishness in the guise of selflessness. (Not that he's not selfless; he just hid from his own selfishness for a while).
I like characters who are so good, but turn out so bad. The brighter the light, the darker the shadow.

About the twinklify the twink? That's why I don't go full Dreamling. I have nothing against it, but they way they get twisted 90% of the times is just "uhh that not my Dream" for me. And same with all the Dark Morpheus x f/m reader. "That's not my Morpheus" and it's ok, because a) fanfiction keeps the media alive until the next piece we can get and b) fanfiction keeps people alive too, no matter what they picture. So, it's ok to feel like this, I guess.
I think that's the main takeaway from this. YKINMK after all. I'm a firm believer of "do what you want always" though of course, that doesn't mean you should be free from criticism, it just means maybe don't take criticism to heart ya know? This doesn't mean people should go onto others posts and fanfics and complain! God no! But people should be allowed to complain in their own posts - so long as anything particularly harsh isn't put in the main tags or is tagged accordingly. Like of course people aren't always gonna love everything you do, and sometimes when certain headcanons and ideas get bastardised by fanon echo chambers they become so far removed from canon that you are basically writing an OC with your fave characters face, but that's okay if it brings you joy. Just don't expect everyone to love and adore it ya know?
The problem I have with the extra twinkification of characters in ship dynamics is that I have a problem with m/m ships being twisted so far away from their canon counterparts that one party becomes obviously "feminine" and the other obviously "masculine". By which I mean one character is made extra skinny frail and delicate, submissive, virginal, pure, and always ALWAYS the bottom. The other character becomes huge and muscular and hairy and masculine, and take the role of protector and dominating and experienced and is ALWAYS the top.
Do you see what I mean? This has been prevailent in fandom culture since day 1 of course, and its a huge pet peeve of mine. I do view it as somewhat problematic because it feels like trying to fit a mlm ship into a heternormative box. Its a layered mess of misogyny and homophobia wrapped up in a fandom bow. It was worse years ago, during the SuperWhoLock days, and I will forever be grateful to Misha Collins for beefing up so much he enabled Cas to beat the effeminate twink allegations (knowing Mollins he probably came across a particularly bad fanfic or fanart and then spent several hours staring at himself in a mirror before throwing himself into an intensive gym routine).
I don't think its too prevailent in Dreamling fics, though I guess when you have a whole episode devoted to showing how Dream is pale, thin, beautiful, ethereal, completely hairless, and trapped, its easy to see why fandoms minds went to "twink" and then to "we need to find him a saviour". But I do wish the power dynamic would be a bit more balanced. Dream is no wilting flower. He is all pure lean muscle. He is no frail delicate thing. He has the body of a long distance marathon runner. He is power and self righteousness and fury and control. Yeah, he may be submissive with his lovers, but he's hardly inexperienced.
Hob is also in no way a macho man. He's hairy sure, but that's basically it. He actually isn't all that more muscular than Dream, he's only slightly broader, and he's not taller - I think they are the same height? Again, to stress, people can do what they want always. But please do take time to branch outside of the fandom echo chambers and refamiliarise yourself with canon once in a while. Especially when those echo chambers are leaning towards problematic dynamics like those mentioned above.
This is by no means a dig at any individuals, at any creative works I have come across or anything else of the sort. I just sometimes find the fanon echo chambers and widely accepted headcanons a bit irritating, especially when they don't fit with canon. It's fine on a small scale. I am not the person who is gonna comment "he would not fucking say that" because its mean and those posts are mean. It's when the whole fandom seems to adopt certain ideas, and suddenly any deviation from those ideas seems wrong to fandom at large. It becomes difficult to counter those ideas without suddenly being labelled a hater. Look at all the ridiculous discourse in Good Omens fandom because of how deeply far removed from the original source material the fandom took the characters over the 4 year gap between seasons? They were literally going into Neil Gaimans inbox complaining when season 2 deviated from widely accepted fanon headcanons! To the point that Neil had to clarify that what they were complaining about was never canon to begin with!!
Anyway, this post is probably controversial enough without me prattling on any further. Let me stress one last time that you can do what you want always, and everyone should be able to play in the sandbox however they want - just please check yourselves and your prejudices and do consider if the tropes you are encouraging have any harmful implications before throwing yourself into them.

regarding obikaka, i too find the ship so off putting because it's mostly for obito fans who don't even like kakashi but use him to make obito look superior by making kakshi weak or by having Kakashi constantly be sorry to Obito (for what exactly?). and I think canon itself lay the groundwork for that because obito is such a weak character with such weak motivations that kishi himself used kakashi to validate obito's non existent pain and motivations. It was insane seeing that whole flashback sequence of obito's childhood where his big under dog story is being in a one sided competition with a Kakashi and feeling inferior to Kakashi in his training and his crush on Rin meanwhile in the background Kakashi is shutting down after having to witness his father driven to suicide at age 6 by the village he has to continue to live in. Even Rin's death, on which obito's entire villain origin story hinges, is far more traumatic an experience for Kakashi than it can be for obito. And yet kishi writes adult Kakashi and obito with Kakashi completely racked with guilt and obito and everyone else, including Edo tensei Minato acting like that guilt or obito's weird self righteousness over kakashi's guilt is justified. Because obito's pain and villain origin story completely falls apart unless you have Kakashi specifically, who has objectively suffered far more without turning into a mass murder of innocent people, validate that pain and villain origin story. So obito fans are basically taking their cues from kishi when they continue to write exactly that in their fics and hcs and only use Kakashi as a means to validate obito and nothing else
Hi, sorry it took me awhile to answer this but there's a lot to unfold here so I needed a clear mind to answer it properly... Anyway,
No one in canon blamed Kakashi for what happened except Kakashi himself, everyone else including Obito, didn't think any of it was Kakashi's fault, yeah at first Obito was pretending that he blames Kakashi because he wanted Kakashi by his side when he achieves his goal, he was taking advantage of Kakashi's guilt to convert him exactly like Madara did to Obito using his pain to make him see how corrupted the world is and that there's no other way except Infinite Tsukuyomi but later he admitted that he never blamed Kakashi and that he knows the truth about Rin's death and that he even doesn't want Kakashi to suffer or keep feeling guilty, he just wants Kakashi to be happy too
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Having said that, the way the toxic part of the Obikaka shippers and some of Obito fans are acting is not only making Kakashi way out of character, it's doing the same to Obito too, they aren't just ruining Kakashi's image, they are ruining Obito's too because like you, so many people ends up getting the wrong picture about Obito, and ends up hating him because of the way they are portraying him
Not only that canon Obito didn't blame Kakashi, canon Obito never looked down on Kakashi either, at first he was just pretending because he believed that it's the only way to make Kakashi see that his plan is the only way but he acknowledged the fact that Kakashi had the power and the means to kill him several times but he chose not to
Tumblr media
In Obito's perfect dream world he didn't just want Kakashi by his side, he also acknowledged the fact that Kakashi is just as good and qualified as him and that he can easily be the Hokage too if he wants
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So like I said, those types of toxic fans aren't only being unfair to Kakashi, they are being unfair to Obito too and are putting people off from the entire ship and from Obito too, they are forcing so many people to hate their favorite character and misunderstand him.
You know, this might sound a bit silly but I noticed that this type of shippers never tag things as Kakaobi, it's always Obikaka to them because they just can't stand the thought of Kakashi being on top lol, I always look at the tags of the Kakashi and Obito posts first, if I see the Kakaobi tag there, I immediately know that this person isn't part of the toxic fandom and by that I don't mean that everyone who tags posts as Obikaka is part of the toxic part of the fandom, no... I mean that the toxic part of the fandom hates the Kakaobi tag.
@loadbearinonion explained perfectly the mindset of this type of shippers, not just in the Obikaka fandom, in a lot of Kakashi ships when they make Kakashi a lot smaller and weaker than he actually is while making the other character so big and strong and perfect even tho in canon both of them are equal in size and strength and everything
Tumblr media
This is not just sad, it's homophobic and disgusting.

Top 5 secondary Riders ^_^
HM. This is a surprisingly hard question! ...Also this got very abstract very quickly, like about their story or their place in the narrative, but this is why they are my favorites. Ok, so, kinda sorta in 1-5 order, but don't quote me on that:
Birth: Date Akira/Shintaro Gotou
Ok I know this is two guys but, to me, ‘secondary rider’ means you have to look at the suit, and who’s in the suit, and the story that goes into that suit. It’s not my top 5 favorite secondary characters in Rider, it’s secondary RIDERS, right? So we have to get into the whole ‘official categorization’ thing, and the Secondary Rider™ in OOO is Birth. And Birth is these two guys (and Satonaka in a bonus). AND FURTHERMORE you cannot separate these two’s character arcs, they do not work alone, they are linked! Narratively! And it’s a good narrative. It’s about being broken down. It’s about not believing in yourself and being told you’re enough and having to come to believe it. It’s about keeping distance so you can burn it all down but not being allowed to. It’s about letting love in. It’s about realizing you are not right all the time. It’s about growing from self-righteousness and savior complexes and realizing that you just have to do what you can. It is so neatly tied into the themes and arcs of every other character, and THE THEMES OF THE WORK AS A WHOLE.
Zeronos: Sakurai Yuuto
At the end of Episode Red I had to lay on the floor for 15 minutes. My wife put a blanket over me. Yuuto is. Important. Yuuto is about memory, and loss, and having to fill very big shoes. Yuuto is about sacrifice, and that deep pit in your heart that used to be a person you knew, a long time ago. He’s tragic and he’s hopeful and he’s beautiful. He takes the themes of the work and paints them with a harsher brush. And also he is a bratty teen boy who loves his demon bird mom from the future.
Cross-Z: Banjou Ryuuga
It’s about the story. It’s about being a scrappy little featherweight in a world of monsters and what war makes you, and choosing love. Banjou is so full of love, it burns and burns until he’s overflowing. All he wants is to see someone smile. All he wants is to brand the love he feels onto one other person until that person sees himself the way Banjou does. He punches monsters in the face with a roll of quarters* in his fist. *The lingering feelings of someone who loves him. HE PUNCHES MONSTERS. WITH LOVE**. DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING. **The dragon fullbottle
Garren: Tachibana Sakuya
Do you know how hard it is to decide who you count as the secondary rider of Blade?? Blade isn’t really… about that??? It’s very weird to say with any strength in my voice that Tachibana deserves the title more than Hajime. But he is the guy on the official merch?? SO. OK. IT’S THIS WET CAT. I already wrote a whole huge rant about this character. I feel like my feelings are known. This man is a TRAGEDY. Like it’s fun to talk about him in terms of wet cat and meow meow and blorbo and guy who did it the worst it’s ever been done. And it’s true! I know we all say that with earnest love and affection. But, seriously, I find him so fascinating. He inarguably makes terrible choices for the whole show, but the choices don’t feel forced, to me. Tachibana makes sense, a horrible, sad, painful sense. Tachibana’s choices come from a place of misguided desire to do The Right Thing, and his idea of what that is differs from everyone else. His Right is organization, and status, and structure. He doesn’t know anything, because he relies on people more powerful than him to know better. He doesn’t see worth in his own choices, he sees himself as an enforcer. Tachibana is a soldier, and it’s killing him, and even then he can’t break out. Even when he knows he’s wrong. Even when he tries over and over and fails every time. He makes one choice for himself, and it’s right at the end, and it’s beautiful, and powerful, and sad, and it’s important, to me, that he makes it. Even if you don’t win, the will to change, the letting yourself finally admit you are wrong… Even if you only do one good thing at the end, it matters that you did the one good thing. Also I have a nuclear-hot take about Tachibana that I’m not going to share here.
Gatack: Kagami Arata
I feel so weird putting Kagami in as a secondary rider. He’s the main character of the show, the guy who has to grow and change, the guy who the Stuff Happens To. But he is, officially, the secondary Rider. I love him. I cheered so hard for him. They don’t give this guy a win every episode but when he gets a win he’s earned it through so much grit and straightforward rage that it’s palpable through the screen. And it FEELS. SO. GOOD. Just great setup and payoff, the pacing in Kabuto can be insane but like, this stuff? The way it makes you wait for Kagami but never leaves you unsatisfied? Kabuto is the good shit. Every show should make you wait for someone to become a rider like this. This goes the same for Gotou, and to a lesser extent Banjou. You have to make it MEAN something. Also he is a normal man beset upon by the weirdest guys in the entire cosmos, he lives in something like a harem anime but most of these guys are not trying to date him, they are just trying his patience. What is not to love about that setup?

Picture this.
There stands Tim, on the doorstep. He looks awkward. Because he's very obviously over compensating anxiety with righteousness, keeping himself tall and sharp, and cornered. Jason has seen the boy, the kid, in desperate times - because of him, he reminds himself and swallows the fact, shoves it down his own throat. But this is new. So far, Tim has either been very broken or very fixed, full of open wounds or sporting a smooth, tailored, smile.
Tim does not show the in between, in fact, the ambiguities and the things that don't make sense, the unknowns and the unresolved and the mind-still-unmade. He keeps the process to himself because it's the process that makes him vulnerable. The consequences he can own up to and make an armor of. But the way his mind and heart jump and dance around each other like shy lovers with PTSD...
So Jason raises an eyebrow, that wants to mean "what is it that has you trusting me to see this, little one?" but only manages to get "what are you doing at my flat?" across. He swallows that too, because even if Jason mastered some level of self awareness, it doesn't mean he's better for it in practice.
And Tim breathes in, like he's being asked to inhale crushed glass - it might be the case truly.
"I wanted to say sorry." He says.
Jason frowns now, because this is all extremely weird and if he squints he does think the kid look unusually drunk of some lack of sleep. What's that bag on the floor?
"What ?" Because it's all he can manage.
"That you thought you had been replaced." Tim blurts out. "That you thought you were forgotten. Truth is, I don't think he ever forgot, and I'm not sure he ever saw me, and I tried to keep him alive and going for the city, for you, for... me. Worked, for some of those. Either way uh... he's gone somewhere, not nowhere, Dick doesn't believe me but that's okay and-"
Jason is desperately trying to hand on the string of words because it's late and this is too much and he isn't sure he has gone far enough in the kind-of-therapy he gets and-
"-either way I think I've gone as far as I could without being..." There's a brief pause when he scoffs under his breath. "Well replaced. And also nearly killed a few times. And... It fucking hurt ? And its not right ? Even if the guilt can be discussed, even for the technicalities, even for everyone just trying to find something in this mess, it hurt a whole lot, and I feel a whole lot sorry for you."
Tim finally focuses his gaze on Jason.
Jason inhales.
Jason exhales.
Something lifts, and something sets, and something weighs.
Tim turns his heels, picks his bag up, walks a-
"Don't be sorry to me, Tim."
And it sounds a bit too snarky, so he adds,
"You don't have to."
And if anything,
"I'm sorry, for that night. If its worth something now."
A step.
Two steps.
"It is." A breath. "I'll find him. He is somewhere. I'll find him and maybe you can talk then. There are some things he should say."
And Tim leaves, for somewhere. And Jason stays, a bit longer, on his doorstep, just to keep it open.
This whole family is a fucking mess.
The brat has some work to do.
But maybe they can be headed somewhere too.

Ooh, nice one! Let's see...
So, first thing, True Love and soulmates are two different things. Sometimes they go together, sometimes they don't. There's an expectation they'll go together, but that doesn't always work out for people, and the vast majority of people never get to test whether theirs is True Love or not. True Love is built. Soulmates are born. The second thing is, Belle is centuries younger than Rumpelstiltskin, and her mark does not appear on him until she is born. He went through most of his life unmarked, which is generally considered to be a sign of divine rejection.
It is, therefore, a bit of a shock when the name sears itself onto his arm. A bit of searching soon uncovers who it belongs to: a newborn baby girl in a small court, far away from Rumpelstiltskin and mostly out of the way of his plans. He looks once, sees once, and then immediately resolves to turn away and not look again. He has seen plenty of soul-matches go terribly wrong, and he can't afford a soulmate, anyway. He once swore to love nothing but Bae and his plan to reunite with his son, and he intends to keep his word.
Belle, unfortunately, does not have that choice. From the moment she grows large enough that the name can be read, her fate is known. Sir Maurice is horrified - his newborn daughter, pledged from birth to the Dark One himself? It must be a curse - on the family, on her...and there is only one way to expiate it. Belle, in this universe, grows up much more confined. She is brought up under a strict regimen of prayer, fasting, cleansing, access to only the most moral and acceptable of materials. Anything to purge the stain of what is written on her arm. She is also raised with the certainty that there must be something wrong in her, something sinful, or else why would she have been marked out for such a terrible fate?
Belle is still Belle, of course - strong-willed, longing for adventure, bookish...or at least, she would be bookish if she were allowed access to books beyond the devotional materials of the Rheul Gorm. Which, in this world, she definitely wasn't. Giving her scope to imagine or read about the evils of the world would, it was believed, only worsen the corruption in her. She tries to rebel, and to get around her keepers in small ways. She steals and hides books where she can, she tries to argue when things don't make sense to her, she tries...so hard...to reach for something outside the grey pious misery that has been her life since she was very small. But it's a lot of pressure, and she's only a small girl, and it's hard to hold onto courage in the face of a regime like that. As a result, Belle as an adult is...quieter. A lot more self-contained. She's painfully used to cruelty in the name of righteousness, and it's...hard not to feel that there must be something deeply wrong with her.
And then the Ogre Wars come to Avonlea. And Sir Maurice summons the Dark One to aid them. And Belle- has to deal with the fact that the people who have spent her whole life punishing her for being born with the name 'Rumpelstiltskin' on her arm are willing to summon that same entity to save their lives and actively make a deal with him when she had no part in her own situation. For his part, Rumpelstiltskin almost doesn't come. Lady Belle of Avonlea would be grown by now, he knows. Old enough to be a temptation. Possibly married or betrothed - almost certainly, he thinks, to head off the risks of that soulmark - but still with his name on her wrist, just as hers is on his. But...he's curious. What sort of woman do the Fates think is the match to his soul?
Belle isn't supposed to be in the war room, but she is. She makes the same bargain as she does in canon, but this time, she's the one who suggests she leave with Rumpel. He must want her, right? She has his name. And better for her to pay the price than anyone else. She is already tainted, after all. It can be no greater stain on her soul than she already has to hand herself over. And Rumpel- has legitimately no idea what to do with this situation and agrees mostly out of sheer bewilderment.
Things are...different...at the Dark Castle. At least partially because Rumpel is- he has no idea what to do with Belle in a very different way from the canon. She's got his name on her wrist, she is his soulmate, and that's- he was brought up to believe that mattered. His aunts had each other's names, and he grew up listening to their stories about finding each other. So, he's not going to throw her in the dungeon, but he's still going to keep her at arm's length - for a good long while, Belle has no idea what she's there for.
They don't start talking until he catches her hiding in his library, trying to hide that she's been reading the books. And then, by inches, the whole story starts to come out and they begin growing closer. There is no rescue attempt, this time. Gaston was never engaged to Belle, because no aristocrat wants to be bound to a cursed woman. And Belle sees a lot more of herself in Rumpelstiltskin's deep conviction that he is unloveable, that there is something fundamentally wrong with him that nothing will ever cleanse. It is just how she has always felt from childhood, after all. But as they get to know each other...well, maybe nobody else could love them, but...they two, both monstrous creatures outcast by the gods...perhaps they are a match in this, too.
They run into issues, however, when their first kiss leads to his curse nearly breaking, and him pushing her away. Belle- doesn't understand. Maybe this was why she was bound to him, why she had to endure a lifetime of purification by pain and denial to be made holy enough to free the Dark One from his curse. Why would he seek to deny that? They fight about it, viciously, and in the middle of the fight, Rumpel lets loose the truth: he needs to be the Dark One to find his son. Suddenly, everything changes.
Their relationship resumes. In secret, of course - Rumpelstiltskin has many enemies, and all of them would seek to use his soulmate against him. Especially as Belle's 'curse' was not kept quite as secret as her father would have liked. Regina is definitely going to come sniffing around, among others. There is, however, a solution to this: the story goes out. Belle of Avonlea is dead, sacrificed to the Dark One in the name of his own power. And, to make the matter more certain, Belle is given an amulet to render her invisible to anyone but Rumpel so long as she wears it, leading to the rumour that Rumpelstiltksin's castle is maintained by ghosts.
Unfortunately, with that route closed to her, Regina seeks out another means of leverage against Rumpelstiltskin: she cannot herself petition the Blue Fairy to move against him, but Belle's grieving father certainly can.

hello, friend! i am someone who came to christ later in life, after spending my teens in the scandalous ways today's culture pushes teens to behave. i am so thankful for god's good grace in bringing me home to him...an issue i have in christian spaces, however, is that i feel unwelcome, shamed, and invalidated in my faith because i am not a virgin. how do i navigate this? i know the story of the prodigal son, or jesus's example of the lost sheep, or even the apostle paul himself. still, how can i interact with christian spaces when i feel/am encouraged to feel as if i am unclean and less christian than someone who has known christ their whole life? thank you for your time, and god bless. your blog is a great inspiration
You are not unclean because the blood of Christ as made you clean.
For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God. 1 Peter 1:23
You are reborn with the Holy Spirit, your old ways are no longer your new ways.
22 So get rid of your old self, which made you live as you used to—the old self that was being destroyed by its deceitful desires. 23 Your hearts and minds must be made completely new, 24 and you must put on the new self, which is created in God's likeness and reveals itself in the true life that is upright and holy. - Ephesians 4:22-24
PSALM 51:10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.
Only GOD, through the blood of Christ, can make us have a clean heart and renew a RIGHT spirit within us.
After you repent, you begin the process of sanctification. What you did in the past does not impact your current state because Jesus has wiped your slate clean essentially when you come before Him, repent (confess) and ask Him to come into your life and make you right with God the Father. He covers our sins, our wrong doings, all unrighteousness when we come before Him in genuine repentance.
You can interact in any Christian space because your past sins are no longer chains bound to your ankles. Jesus Christ defeated death for YOU and for me and for the whole world so we may be set free from the bondage of sin. It is the devil who wants you to believe you are still captive, enslaved to sin.
“We know that our old self was crucified with him in order that the body of sin might be brought to nothing, so that we would no longer be enslaved to sin." - ‭‭Romans‬ ‭6‬:‭6‬ ‭
Come to Jesus with this heavy heart of yours “For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭30‬ and allow Him to repair your damaged heart, knowing that Him dying on the cross for you was the payment for your sins to be forgiven.
“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith for faith, as it is written, “The righteous shall live by faith.”” - Romans‬ ‭1‬:‭16‬-‭17‬ ‭
"that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; -Romans 10:9
"He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit. "-Titus 3:5
Trust in Him and lean into Him. It seems this past sin weighs heavy on your heart, I suggest reading Romans and mediating on God's promises and forgiveness. Do not let your past sins deter you from entering christian spaces and not feeling good enough because the truth is NONE of us are good enough, no not one. We have all fallen short of the Glory of God but through the blood of Christ and being reborn with the Holy Spirit we are made righteous and holy and can enter an intimate relationship with God the Father.

Hey!!
I’m a big fan of your blog as I am a fellow James and Sirius apologist. I feel like there aren’t enough people out here that love these two and their bond so finding someone who feels the same is like nothing short of a miracle. Especially one who is active on here. Also, I’m a big fan of your stories you are an amazing writer. ❤️
I was just sitting here thinking about how Sirius could have put an end to Lily’s relationship with James with a snap of his fingers if he felt so inclined. Like James and Lily are “soulmates” in canon but not the same soulmate level these two guys are on you know? I think back to your fic Shovel Talk in regards to this and how Sirius basically tells Lily as much. It just makes me sorta giggle (is that wrong?) because it’s just so true lol. Like James and Sirius were operating on a whole different plane of reality than everyone else I swear. I just I love those two boys so so so much.
If you wouldn’t mind sharing I would love to just read your thoughts on these guys. Like just to read you talking about them and their bond in whatever capacity you want. Weather it be what you think of them, how you see them, who you think they are, how you think they’re perceived by their friends just any and all thoughts you feel like sharing. This is only if you don’t mind. I just live for these two codependent lunatics and love getting to see other people love them. 💛💙
anon there is something in my eye and u might be responsible for it 🥺🥺
i don’t know where i’m getting this prongsfoot attention from as of late but i am absolutely not complaining because it is the best thing ever and i will never tire of talking about my baby boys. thank u so much for liking what i write (and thinking i’m active lol) :”)
also!!! another shovel talk fan!!! listen every time someone references that story, it makes my heart do this giddy little spin because it’s literally one of my favorite fics/hcs and i genuinely thought people wouldn’t like it but they do and it’s amazing.
you’ve given me such free reign that i don’t know where to start lol my mind has suddenly gone blank trying to think of something i haven’t already talked about before
hmmm ok let’s see. i know i skew towards sirius leaning on james a lot but i fully believe it was a relationship of equals. james was equally besotted by and reliant on sirius as the other way around. so i mentioned this in the last ask a bit, but i see james as someone who’s constantly burning bright and it’s…not exactly easy but very possible to snuff that light out completely. and i think lily had the potential for that bc of her sharp tongue & self righteousness. and she wouldnt think to tone herself down for james, either, because she sees what everyone else does—a spoiled, happy go lucky, privileged dude who doesn’t need to be treated with kid gloves. fair, yeah? except. sirius has seen this boy inside out, knows how fucking sensitive he is, and will do anything it takes to make sure james doesn’t shrink himself to fit the world. and this isn’t like—a huge thing, not for sirius. it’s in the little actions—cutting someone off when they might say something hurtful, turning him away from people who don’t like him, casually blocking hexes cast behind his back etc etc. sirius doesn’t have blinkers on, he knows first hand how ugly the world is and he doesn’t want it to touch his james. (sure, that might mean putting up with his big headed ass but he’ll take that any day over a subdued james potter) and we know from swm that he’s not scared or hesitant to go against james if needed so he’s the perfect person to both keep him in check and protect him ykno? (very grumpy one protects the sunshine one of me)
another thing i love thinking about is how unconditionally they love each other!!! james has a mean streak (often powered by ignorance/arrogance) and sirius genuinely has a whole dark side bc of his black heritage (so many thoughts on that ughhhhh) and it means the absolute world to sirius that james accepts all of him. his family doesn’t like him being a ‘muggle loving traitor’ and the people at hogwarts are scared/wary of his name and anger and sometimes he’s seen it even in his friends’ eyes and he’s sick and tired of having to hide parts of himself to be palatable so it’s like a fresh of breath air to be around james who never ever judges him. i’m such a sucker for unconditional acceptance lol both sides of sirius are fundamental to him and he can’t separate them from himself so whenever james steps up to him without hesitation or fear, it heals a part of him.
also, this might seem obvious, but i think they genuinely liked each other in a way that u don’t always see. like, they were each other’s favorite persons at all times, no questions asked. the average person might get sick of spending so much time with one person, even if it’s their best friend (i know i couldn’t lol) but not these two. they happily welcome every opportunity they have to be together. that’s why detentions are fun—hours left alone to goof around while working off their energy? sign them tf up. they genuinely look forward to talking to each time, every single class they share, nighttime when they can crawl into the others’ beds etc etc it’s all horribly codependent and perhaps not the healthiest (definitely not in a non-prongsfoot universe) but it’s james&sirius and even if they were stranded on an island together, they’d be happy about it
wrt to the james/lily/sirius thing—god, yes. sirius *knows* that he only needs to say the word and james would listen to him over lily and that’s so much power and sometimes he’s equal parts terrified and on top of the world bc of what he holds in his hands but it only makes him more determined to not abuse that trust and faith james places in him. i think this would happen with any potential partner, if only a bit harsher w lily bc of their experiences. james will always, always turn to sirius first and that can be a good or a bad thing, depending on how u look at it. u just know that remus and peter were envious of this dynamic but i think, over time, they overcame it and just resigned themselves to it. i can even see them (particularly remus) actually being a bit thankful it’s not them because let’s be honest, a friendship as all encompassing & overwhelming as this? not easy at all. u need to be able to completely open ur heart and soul up, break down even the smallest pretence of barriers, accept that you’ll always be part of a whole and that’s neither simple nor desirable most of the time. and i truly don’t eee remus laying himself bare open like that, not even for j or s. so i think he’s actually a bit relieved that these two tide over their most intense behaviours with each other and you get a more toned down version of them around others lol (does any of that make sense? i’m just rambling here tbh)
i’m gonna stop here bc i have no clue of any of this is even like, coherent. i erased and wrote the whole thing 2-3 times bc it kept growing a mind of its own and Not Cooperating so i hope this draft is,,,okay ykno?
