AM & PM Traditions

"AM & PM Traditions" are personalized habits your sims can use in their calendar to create their own morning and night routine so they can craft their own daily rituals.

Start your day off right with choices ranging from a refreshing morning shower, bathes, brushing their teeth and even shaving to some much-needed skincare. Don't forget a calming cup of coffee or tea after. Have work in the morning, I made sure to add a Pack Sack Lunch into the choices in their routine as well.

However, my favorite part of these traditions has to the be Words of Affirmations choice and journaling. I love having my sims indulge into some needed selfcare and couldn't hesitate not to add these features!

Everything Included

Bathe: Great for hygiene and starting the day fresh. It adds a realistic touch to your Sims morning rituals. All Types of bathing from traditional to using the petals, soaps etc.

Brush Teeth: Dental hygiene is crucial! It's good that you've included this routine to ensure your Sims maintain healthy teeth. You can complete this buy brushing your sims teeth by clicking on the sink.

Coffee and Tea: A perfect way to kickstart the morning or wind down in the evening. It adds a touch of realism and comfort to your Sims' lives. Brew and drink coffee or tea to complete this.

Journaling: A wonderful addition for Sims to reflect on their day or express their thoughts. It's a great way to incorporate self-care and mindfulness. Make sure to use the sims private journal to complete this.

Apply Makeup: For Sims who enjoy enhancing their appearance, this routine adds a touch of personal grooming. You can only do this at the vanity!

Remove Makeup: A thoughtful inclusion for Sims who prefer to go makeup-free or need to prepare for bedtime. You can only do this at the vanity!

Pack Lunch: Ideal for Sims with a busy day ahead. It's a practical addition for those who want to bring their own meals to work or school. Make sure you pack a sack lunch to complete this.

Shave: A grooming routine for Sims who prefer to keep a clean-shaven look. It adds realism to their daily preparations. This includes all body shaving areas, not just your face!

Shower: An essential part of maintaining hygiene. This routine ensures your Sims stay clean and refreshed. Just do your usual showering!

Skincare: A great way to incorporate self-care into your Sims' daily lives. It's perfect for those who prioritize skincare. I love this one, make sure you use a face mask or the cleanser to complete this.

Words of Affirmation: A fantastic addition for promoting positive mental health. It adds a meaningful and uplifting touch to your Sims' routines. Psyche self-up in a standing mirror to complete this. You do not do this one at the vanity.

Do you have any holiday or Christmas headcanons for Captain Marvel?

Thanks so much for the ask anon!

I headcanon that Billy/Cap doesn't do much to celebrate the holiday season (at least at the beginning) because it's a reminder that he doesn't have a family to spend it with. But as they get more friends and family to spend it with, they get more into it. I headcanon that Mary and the Bromfields love Christmas so much, throwing huge elaborate parties and going all out with decorations and presents. Billy's a bit overwhelmed at first, but seeing how happy Mary is when they pull him into their family traditions helps him get into the Christmas spirit.

Captain Marvel is always helping out the community and I can totally see him teaming up with a local toy drive and donning a santa hat to deliver toys to sick and/or underprivileged kids in Fawcett.

Cap is also the type to volunteer for Monitor Duty shifts on Christmas day simply because he wants everyone else to enjoy their holiday.

One tradition I think Billy would enjoy is seeing the Christmas lights! Both as Billy and as Cap he would wander around town to get a look at all the best decorations.

To me Billy is the type to be very careful with his money so he's hesitant to spend a lot on presents. Instead he tends to make gifts for others so they are personal/sentimental. In return he prefers simple and practical gifts over anything fancy.

Bonus: since I headcanon Freddy as Jewish, I like to imagine that he digs out his grandpa's menorah each year so that he and Billy (and later Mary) could spend the week of Hanukkah together gifting each other small things like candy and socks if they had the money. it's all very laid back (especially in contrast to Christmas Day at the Bromfields)

The Holiday Homecoming Collectors Series was a Hallmark-affiliated holiday-themed Barbie series, evoking classic Hallmark card art and vintage fashion. In addition to excellent (in my opinion) fashion and doll design, they also had quite detailed backstories.

Holiday Voyage Barbie was a 1920's doll; she was returning home from her Grand Tour on a luxury liner to spend Christmas with her family.

Holiday Sensation Barbie, however, was from the late 40's. This Barbie has dressed up to enjoy an evening of listening to the radio and appreciating the lilies her sweetheart Ken sent her before they go out for a night of dancing. I really like the design on this Barbie - between her bolero and her snood, she has a really on point design.

Holiday Traditions Barbie takes us back to the Victorian era, with Barbie dressed up to go on a horse-drawn carriage ride. Something about this particular doll I am less of a fan of; maybe it's just by comparison to how much I love Holiday Sensation, but something feels off about this design that I can't put my finger on.

Good Luck Traditions for NYE

-Have some cash in your wallet. Starting the year with your debts paid and money in your pocket is said to ward off financial hardship.

-Fill your cupboards. Empty cupboards signify a hard, hungry year ahead, so make that last-minute grocery run if you can. At the very least, try to make sure you have bread and salt in the house.

-Save your cleaning for January. Cleaning the house on New Year’s Eve is said to sweep or wash away good luck coming your way in the new year. Of course, some traditions hold that the exact opposite is true - that cleaning your home just before the new year symbolizes a fresh start. (I say compromise and do your tidying on Dec 30th.)

-Open the doors and windows. Doing so just after midnight symbolizes letting the old year out and welcoming the new one in.

-Make some noise! Cheer, clap, sing, blow horns, set off fireworks or party crackers, bang pots and pans together. All of these traditions are meant to scare away spirits waiting to cause bad luck in the new year.

-Kiss your sweetie. A kiss at midnight on New Year’s Eve is meant to preserve the love you feel for the entirety of the year to come.

-Toast the old year as it ends and the new year as it begins. Traditionally, this is done with champagne or beer or some kind of alcohol, but it's perfectly acceptable to do so with juice or soda or mocktails instead. (Some traditions hold that toasting with water is bad luck.)

-Divine your future for the year ahead with candle wax. Melt a spoonful of wax over a flame or burn a fresh votive until a small pool forms. Extinguish the candle and pour the liquid wax into a bowl of cold water, then examine the shape it takes. (In Germany, they do this with small pieces of lead or tin.)

-Serve your favorite traditional foods with your New Year’s supper to ensure that poverty and hardship stay far from your door in the coming year. Good-luck foods include lentils, grapes (twelve of them), black-eyed peas and collard greens, pork and sauerkraut, and soba noodles. In Greece and Bulgaria, special breads and pastries are made with a single lucky coin baked inside. German and Swedish traditions also recommend eating pickled herring for New Year’s.

-Burn the old year in effigy! Write the number of the year and anything you wish to get rid of or leave behind on a piece of paper. Prepare a bonfire or cauldron, crumple the paper, and toss it into the flames. (This is best done outdoors if possible. Always practice fire safety!)

Three Ingredient Peanut Butter Cookies.

Caption: In just a few months, it will mark the 6th year that I have used this recipe to bring joy, happiness and the feel of the holiday spirit to my household.

These cookies are truly one of my absolute favorite things to make over the holiday season; more specifically, the day that the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade airs on tv.

I do know that it sounds a little odd as I am Canadian and our Thanksgiving is at the beginning of October but there is nothing more special to me than the tradition of putting the Parade on tv, making a cup of hot chocolate and making these cookies. That to me is more meaningful than anything.

That being said, time is absolutely flying by and before you know it, the stores will be full of fall decor, treats, cutlery, plates, cups, you name it. So I thought that I would share this recipe with you all so that you can make it, try and see if it's a good fit for you and your family.

Thank you so much for this ask, I'm sorry I'm so late in replying to it.

In truth, I considered not answering it, as this year my family suffered a massive loss that's dampened the holidays quite a bit.

I lost my dad suddenly and unexpectedly on Oct 4th, 9 days before my wedding. He was my first best friend, and my best best friend. I'm his clone, basically, and his loss has left me feeling more broken and hollow than anything.

That said, this is an opportunity to reflect on the good things, so, to answer your question:

When I was young, like 7, I asked my dad straight up if Santa was real, and he answered me honestly. My mom was upset with him but it spawned a new tradition for us: my dad and I would go see a movie together every year while "Santa Mom" went shopping.

We'd also watch Rudolph every year (if it played on tv), and go to my grandparents for Christmas Eve, where they make their famous gumbo that they ONLY make on Christmas Eve. My grandmother spends the whole year gathering gifts for stockings, everyone in the family gets one, and we open them all at the same time on Christmas Eve. She gives practical gifts inside plus one "gag gift" that tends to follow you through life, for example I always get a can of black olives. My dad always got a Starbucks gift card and a packet of mixed nuts.

Since I knew the "truth" about Christmas, we'd leave the gathering at my grandparents' house and go home to open gifts on Christmas Eve night, instead of the following morning, this way my parents could sleep in on the day and I could get up early to play with my toys when I was a kid. Now that I'm an adult we still did it anyway, made everything easier on Christmas Day to have all of that done already.

When I was young my parents would hide my "big" gift somewhere in the house and play a game of Hot Cold with me to find it. If the big gift was a gaming console (as it often was), my dad and I would play it together either late into the night or early the next morning. In recent years I've tried to return the favor, and we've gotten my parents new Apple TVs or my dad new game consoles when we've been able, and it's been really nice to be on the giving end instead of receiving.

My mom could be a professional gift-wrapper, and always chooses a specific wrapping paper for my gifts, so they're easily distinguishable from the rest (& she saves money by not having to tag them). Although I've never been bothered by how many presents I receive on Christmas, my mom always makes me count them. Now that I'm married and my husband has been attending Christmases with us for the last 7 years, my mom gets him a specific paper too. For joint gifts, she'll literally wrap them in both papers, half mine, half his.

This year is going to be impossibly hard without my dad here, but we're going to make the best of it.

Holiday card season has begun!

My cards arrived this week, I made the list today (120) and received the first 2 which are now on our fireplace mantle.

Every year, I display the cards and then put them in a photo album to keep. I don't have a lot of hard-copt photos in albums anymore (phone or they make it to a frame), but having the holiday cards is a way to feel connected with friends and family.

I include a quote with the little family update blurb. Here's what I chose this year:
