Astro in DC~

Hello! I’m here to give you my complete fanmeet experience to the best of my abilities~ I’m going to preface this by saying I’d been feeling ill the past few days, so it took a lot of my willpower just to keep myself standing for a fair chunk of the show…. Which means 1) my memory is a bit fuzzy and 2) I just did not have the brainpower to focus on every member, so this is a very Jinwoo-biased fan account (not that any of you should be surprised tbh).

P.S. I’m sorry I wrote a literal novel;;; this is largely to help me remember it all both now and in the future, but I also wanted to share!

The Beginning:

The girl who did the cover dance absolutely rocked it, and the crowd had no problem hyping her up - she performed Again and we were fanchanting and everything~ And then when she finished the lights dimmed, she left the stage, and we all waited very anxiously for the real show to begin.

Now. I knew going in that Jinjin would be the first on stage with his dance solo, but that did not stop him from still completely taking my breath away (like I actually gasped and put my hand on my chest/over my mouth). It was the moment of realization that he’s real! And really here!! And he’s doing his thing!!! Like I’m still processing the feeling of seeing him in real 3D space, seeing his body as a real human body, with depth and warmth, not just a flat image (I hope that doesn’t sound weird??). And man did he kill that solo. I always love when he gets a chance to bust out his house dance skills 💕 (I should actually check cams from the other shows to see if he was doing a set choreo or going freestyle 👀). And then, of course the Rocko man himself came out, and proceeded to just destroy us all (and booooy was the crowd Rocky biased - the screams for him were REAL yall).

Once that section was done the rest of the boys came out and!! Myungjun was in just a black tshirt and jeans!!! How dare he attack me so soon into the show!!! 

They performed Again which was stellar as always, and then they segwayed into Baby. And things got LIT. Their demeanor changed, the crowd energy changed, it was just. Exactly the mood you’d expect from Baby~ The boys got really smiley and just looked like they were so happy! Just rainbows and sparkles all around haha

After baby finished they did their intros! Jinjin went first and of course intro’d himself as the leader and main visual. Eunwoo said a good bit in English but so help me if I remember any of it 😰 Moonbin gave his whole intro in English too! And you can seriously tell how hard he worked to be able to do so!! Like he really said a lot and you could tell he was thinking carefully as he was talking, I was so proud of him :’) He’s adorable, his voice is adorable, hearing him say ‘puppycat’ is deadly 😂 Mj introduced himself as the happy virus, and I unfortunately don’t remember the rest of his or Socky’s intros :( After intros, the staff brought out chairs and they sat down for q&a time!

Q&A:

If you had drawn a line directly from my seat to the stage, that’s where Jinwoo was sitting :“”“”“”) So basically I had the perfect view of him (even if I was like 12 rows back). I cant remember everything that was asked/said (im sure there are 100 fancams anyway) but some highlights include:

♥ The first question was who pays for meals the most, and they did the 3-2-1-point thing; everyone pointed to Jinjin. Then they said some stuff I couldn’t hear/catch, but it ended with Jinwoo saying something (in English!) about no longer having access to his mom’s card 😂😂

♥ Someone asking Bin his workout routine, and him genuinely telling us lmaoo And every time he would name an activity (running, weights, etc) Jinwoo would be in his chair just miming it out like a NERD 😂 (Jinwoo was just generally very animated and interactive, and he was smiling soooo muuuuuch you could just tell he was in a good mood!!)

♥ Someone asked what the members needed to have when traveling. Rocky said mask pack, Jinwoo said Arohas love 😑, I didn’t catch what Eunwoo said??, I think Bin also said Arohas love, MJ said contacts and something else genuine, and Sanha said?? He brought Jinjin??? And Jinwoo was just like ???????????????? What are you talking about 😂😂

♥ Someone asked who’s the best cook/who cooks the most and what do they make. Immediately Sanha just goes “not me!” and everyone laughs. They said they really don’t cook much at home, but Bin likes to cook and wants to make food for the upcoming birthdays! :’)

After the q&a they introduced/moved into Run which, again, Jinwoo’s position was DIRECTLY in line with my seat for a lot of the song; I was #blessed. Also at the very beginning when they were passing the mic down the line, Eunwoo teased Sanha and almost didn’t give him the mic in time - the baby got a little flustered 😝 (P.S. Sanha is the most adorable and pure being on this earth, and I’m pretty sure his giggle could cure cancer. I still can’t believe I got to hear it in person.)

So Run was good, the crowd def didn’t know the lyrics as well as the other songs but the spirit was still there! And then then segwayed into Crazy Sexy Cool and for some??  reason??? I have very little memory of it…. I do remember the fanchants being STRONG though, esp for rapline haha

After that I think they took a short break while the MC did his thing, then they brought the boys back out for gaaaaame tiiiiiiime 😀😀

Game Time:

The first game was the mystery box one, and the members were divided by staff into Hyung line vs Maknae line. The grandpas being on the same team were, of course, being goofy and extra af lmao (And Eunwoo just stood there laughing as usual). They r/p/scissored to see which team would go first - it was Jinwoo vs Rocky, and Jinwoo decided to be Extra™ and do it by turning away from Rocko and sticking his arm out behind him. Rocky won, and I’m like 99% sure he totally cheated and waited a split second for Jinjin to throw his hand before showing his own….

But either way, Maknae team won so they made Hyung team go first. Before they brought out the box there was some hyping/smack talk~ Eunwoo said (approximately) in English “Just one thing: we win >:)” and then our precious child Sanha goes, also in English (approximately) “Just one thing: You lose!” It was seriously the cutest ah my heart 💖 So they brought out the box, and the thing they had to guess was…. Raw egg 😫😫 Maknae team peeked at what they’d have to guess and omg their reactions 😂😂 They were thoroughly grossed out and excited for the other team to suffer lmaoo

So Jinjin went first, and he took off his jacket and rolled up one shirt sleeve and he;;;; has a very nice forearm;;;;; You should find fancams for their reactions tbh bc there’s no way I could do them justice, but watching Jinwoo’s face distort in discomfort and hearing him let out a small scream was sure something 😂😂 Because it was raw egg it was suuuper wet and drippy and gross and you could seeee it dripping off his fingers when he took his hand out of the box 😣😝 (the staff had towels at the ready, don’t worry). He removed his hand from the box, wiped it off a bit, and then smelled his fingers and as soon as he did that we was like “…aaaaaaaaah 😈😈” so he probably figured it out right away. Mj was next and of course he had to be a little extra when putting his hand in, walking his fingers around the opening a bit before diving in. And then as soon as he touched it he just full on screamed 😂😂 And he kept screaming and making weird noises for a bit, then he got a little used to it and was like “ooooh 😳” I can’t remember anything he might have done after that 😩 Eunwoo went third and was def the most anxious. He stuck his hand in and I can’t remember if he even touched it or not before he freaked and pulled his hand back out 😂 Again that’s really all I can remember from him 😢 Then they had 15 seconds to collude as a team and settle on their answer, and they guessed it right!! Also once the crowd heard what it was they had touched we were all just like “eeeeww oh noooooooo!! DD: ” And then. And then the Extra Bros™ Myungjin start acting like chickens =w=;;;; There were fair amounts of butt wiggling. (MJ started it of course).

So! They guessed right! Which meant if Maknae line couldn’t get theirs then they would have to do a punishment. So. The staff brought out the next item, which was white and round and squishy. Hyung line snuck a peek and they were just standing there poking it 😂😂 And then freaking troll Eunwoo said to the other team “guys be careful! Its moving! Its alive!!!” And Myungjin went along with him on it lmao Maknae line didn’t really know what to make make of them lol

Rocky went first, and he really Did Not want to stick his hand in there - you could just see the classic suffering smile on his face. He definitely yelled several times when touching it (not a scream, but a very Rocky yell haha) Once he was done he seemed to have an idea what it was, and started whispering in Bins ear. Sanha went second and he was… well…. Sanha lol Very squirmy, very screamy. Bin went last (I think, he and Sanha might be switched aaah I’m so sorry), and I don’t really remember Bins reaction while his hand was in the box at all. I do know that he was like full-on squeezing the thing and the MC was losin it at him, and after he took his hand out he sniffed his hand and then licked it =w=;;;;; and all of us were just like Bin no!!!! Then he went back and there was more Moonrock ear whispering.

Once all 3 went they had their 15 seconds to decide, and I didn’t understand what the answer they gave was (it was hard to hear Rocky and the MC didn’t repeat what he said for us) buuuuuuuut it was wrong! The right answer was a ball of mozzarella cheese~~ Hyung line of course started taunting them for losing (mostly led by Jinwoo) and even got the whole crowd involved 😂😂 And thus the losing team was introduced to their punishment: they had to spell their names. With their butts. Sexily. (And I was like you’re going to make the Maknaes do what?????). So Bin went first and he pretty much died of embarrassment one letter in, but he powered through! Rocko was next and he was also internally dying (and externally yelling 😂) but the dancer part of him took over and booooy does he have balance and body control. I’m pretty sure after he was done he ran and hugged Bin to deal with his embarrassment and the crowd LOVED that 😂 Sanha went last and the MC had to torture him!! And make him do his full name!! 😭😭 Of course it was more awkwardly cute than sexy, and him saying the letters as he went was unbearably adorable. (I honestly covered my eyes/turned away to laugh/cringe for most of the punishments =w=)

The next game was guessing the song based on choreo. They split up into teams by randomly selecting colored papers and somehow!! Binu still managed to be a team!! How many times has this happened now????? The other teams were JinHa and RaMyung. They were deciding who should go first and Bin said the “maknae” team should go first (referring to RaMyung) and literally everyone was just like what are you on about????? 😂😂 Fake Maknae MJ strikes again! They r/p/scissored for team order again and I’m like 80% sure Rocko cheated again 👀👀👀 But either way the order ended up as Binu, RaMyung, JinHa. Binu actually did really well!!! with Bin dancing and Eunwoo guessing, but I have to shame Woo for not getting Sistar’s Shake It like boy come on! I think they got 6+ right? RaMyung were…. less successful, but it was honestly more on Rocky??? I think he just like panicked and couldn’t straighten out in his brain what he should actually be doing with his body, then the ones he did actually do the dance to MJ was pretty hit or miss 😂 But they still got a few!! Aaaand then came JinHa… For some reason they decided Sanha should do the dancing, and well…. He passed like every other one, and I don’t think Jinwoo was able to guess a single one 😂 It was just a lot of panic and failure lmaoo So needless to say their team came dead last.

It was decided both losing teams had to do punishment, and that punishment was 40 pushups per team. However the MC said they could divide that any way they wanted, for example Sanha could do 1 and Jinjin 39. JinHa team went first, and Sanha volunteered to do his share first. And the kid got down, wiggled into position, did 1 pushup, and stood back up like “all done!” 😂😂 We got to witness Jinwoo’s legendary ‘possibly contemplating murder rn’ face 😂😂 But then Sanha got back down - and as he was going of course Jinwoo was starting to take his jacket off to prepare for his half but then we reached 20… And 21… And 22… And Sanha kept going all the way to 40! So Jinwoo didn’t have to do anything, and he seemed really pleased :) and was like *shrugs* alright then and put his jacket back on. Mj went first for RaMyung team and bless his heart he did the whole 40 too so Rocky didn’t have to.

The final game was random play dance and there wasn’t much to it really, they just ran through the point parts of 2 other group songs (BTS Dope and Apink No No No). They all did fine for BTS of course, but Binnie KILLED it with Apink lmao to the point where the rest of the members kinda stopped and just let him shine. The final song was one from Dream Part 01 but I cannot for the life of me remember which one it was 😩 I want to say Dream Night or Dreams Come True?? (Watch it be neither akdbsj)

And that was the end of game time! I think they maybe took another quick break, but maybe not idk;;; and then we segwayed into Breathless!

And boy let me tell you, Aroha get PUMPED for Breathless. Confession too tbh, like I don’t remember much from CSC but I definitely remember people just going hardcore with love for these songs haha And I’m pretty sure the boys could feel the passion for them too~ Also during Breathless when Moonrock have their dance bit and then it switches to a rapline dance bit, Jinwoo’s shirt came up a little bit and idk why that suddenly affected me so much but I literally like gasped said “oh my god” out loud 😳

They then moved into the final ment, which worried me at first as I thought maybe we had to skip You & Me due to time or something, but nope they just did the ment first!

Final Ment:

I don’t really remember much of what they said, but I do know Eunwoo said that when he was younger DC was one of the cities he dreamed of visiting, and that it was a beautiful place~ And I think it was MJ(??) who said DC Aroha are the best of the 3 shows so far of course~ 😂😂 Omg and Rocky, when he was in the middle of his ment (I think that’s when this happened anyway aksbaj my awful memory) he just stops like mid-thought and goes “I can’t see” and does the most epic hair flip to get the hair out of his eyes, then just stands there for like 10 seconds basking in his new-found vision. It was so majestic and unexpected I doubled over laughing 😂😂😂 They also said they know it’s hard for us to see them and they were grateful to us for waiting for them, and they would be waiting for us in Korea as well~

For You & Me they first asked if everyone knew the choreo, and enough people said yes that the were like “alright then, show us what you got!” and the music for the chorus played and we all did our darn best to remember the choreo (I failed, I didn’t refresh my memory beforehand and couldn’t remember it well enough =w=;;;) They seemed genuinely impressed by how we did overall though! After that they had Sanha teach us how it goes cutely, and yeah, it’s exactly what you’d expect from that sentence 😂 Once everyone had learned from Captain Sanha and practiced a couple times, they started the song for real! And I already posted about it, but it really is softest, warmest, sweetest experience. To have everyone in the crowd doing choreo and interacting with their neighbors whether they knew them or not it just, i don’t even know how to describe it, it’s just nice?? And lots of people were giggling and smiling, including my right-side partner, which was so fun to turn to each time 💕💕 I definitely got a little emotional during it (but I didn’t cry! Go me!) Edit: Also I forgot but when Jinwoo started to move to the front to do his rap, MJ pushed him out of the way and did it instead! Jinwoo was hyping him up and laughing his butt off 😂😂 And MJ genuinely did really well

 After Y&M they gave their official goodbye and left the stage, and almost immediately the crowd started chanting “encore!” and as expected, after a bit they came back out~

Encore:

Our encore was I’ll Be There and they were throwing out bags of gummy bears. Also for the encore a TON of people rushed the stage, including like everyone to the front and right of me. Soooooooo~ When Jinwoo threw some into our area, there was nobody but me to retrieve it :’) (I maaay have accidentally body slammed the seat in front of me trying to catch it 😅) In my wildest dreams he threw it to me on purpose, but in reality he never actually looked at me so I doubt it (it’s nice to have dreams though 😂) Some people who were up at the stage got some great footage of Jinwoo getting right up into their camera’s business so I look forward to seeing those 👀👀

Once they ran out of candy and the song ended it was officially time for them to say goodbye 😢 They gave their last “Wanna be your ☆” and took a bow, then headed backstage to chill until perks began!

Hi-Touch:

The staff decided to do hi touch first, and since I had both perks it took me a hot minute to realize I needed to get in line too (since I was sitting in P1 and nobody around me was moving lol) The girls I was in line with were very cute and nice - one of them was newer to the boys so she had a hard time telling Myungjin apart haha We tried to help her get them straight~ The line moved really quickly and when it was my turn my brain switched to auto pilot……

Jinwoo was first bc apparently the universe likes to see me Suffer. I don’t even remember what he looked like, all I remember is him seeing my shirt and saying “aaaah, slow~  😉” and all I could get out was a “yes!” 😂😵😵😭😭 Sanha was next in line but my brain was so busy processing the first interaction I have absolutely 0 memory of him, if I even managed to hi five him at all akdbaj like I completely just blacked out for a few seconds. Eunwoo was third and I regained myself enough to actually start looking at their faces, but I still couldn’t make my own sentences, so instead I started parroting what I was hearing from the members which was “thank you” - which is a fine thing to say and I wholly meant it, but I do wish I could have said a bit more… Bin was third and I also Do Not remember him, like, at all 😣 I’m so disappointed, he deserves better. But then came Rocky. There really must be something just inexplicably striking about Rocky, because I remember him pretty damn clearly all things considered! He had his big Rocko smile and it was strikingly beautiful 😪 Finally was MJ and I remember seeing him and thinking “I have to make sure he knows I genuinely love and support him!!” So I looked really hard at his face, but my brain was still *static noises* so all I could say was thank you :“) I tried to really sincerely say it and show him with my eyes that I meant it though!! And then it was over, and I took a big ole breath as I made my way down off the stage and back to my seat. And thus began the waiting for group pic. (The girl I had been sitting next to laughed when I came back 😂😂

Group Photo:

The line for P2 was pretty much a free for all, but the line for P1 was specifically done row by row. I was at the back of Orchestra Center, so I wasn’t first by any means but I was probably in the first 1/3. The setup was there were 8 chairs, and the boys stood behind the chairs. They were all doing different poses and switching it up for each pic while I was waiting in line (I’ve been told staff made them stop later on which is dumb af if you ask me like people are supposed??? To pose for pics??? Also have you met Astro aksbaj but ANYWAY).

Jinwoo was last this time, which meant if I wanted to be in front of him I had to be #1 in the group of 8. Well, they counted us, and I was #7. The girl behind me was 8, and her friend ended up being #1 of the next batch. The two clearly wanted to go together, and I wanted the #1 spot, so when staff wasn’t looking we quickly switched! And I got to sit directly in front of him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And he of course remembered me from when I did the hi touch like ~10 minutes ago lol I made sure to look at all the members again as I was walking up, esp Sanha since I missed him the first time! And again I’ve got Nothing on Bin (rip 😢), but Rocky’s smile seared itself into my psyche yet again 😂 When I finally walked up to Jinwoo I said “I get to sit by you! :DD” and he was like “yeah!” We sat down (god I wish I had actually clearly looked at his face, I have no memory of it from either interaction 😢😢😢) and I kinda tried to do a hand heart with him but he had other plans and was like “let’s do this instead!” (retrospectively I think maybe the girl behind me was also a Jinwoo stan so he wanted to do something with us both). So he LEANED DOWN BETWEEN US SO HIS FACE WAS SEVERAL INCHES FROM OUR EARS and made finger hearts for the first pics, then he said “cheeeeese!” (or it sounded like that to me anyway) and switched to peace signs for the second. I honestly have no idea what my face was doing the whole time soooo the pics could be fun >w>;; (I WAS JUST FOCUSED ON THE FACT I COULD FEEL HIS PRESENCE/BODY HEAT HOVERING OVER MY SHOULDER AND HIS HANDS WERE RIGHT NEXT TO MINE AKSHAJ). And then we were done! And I think I turned and smiled at him one last time as I was heading off the stage, and I think he smiled back, but who knows!! Certainly not me!!!

And that was that.

I went out into the theater hallway and just….existed for a bit (and yelled into all my chats lol) and more than one fan came out hysterically sobbing :( I think it was a mixture of happy and sad tears, like some people overwhelmed with happiness and others crying cuz they didn’t get the place in line they wanted.

All in all it was an amazing night, and completely worth being absolutely nuts and dropping everything to fly literally halfway across the country to attend. 100/10 would give all my money to these boys again (I mean they already own my heart and wallet anyway)

Also I didn’t know where to fit these tidbits in, but the members overall:

Jinjin - I mentioned it already but he was just a goofy happy boy! So many smiles, so many silly actions. I didn’t think I could love him even more and yet :”)

MJ - He sunshined a number of times but overall seemed really tired, which is COMPLETELY understandable (I really feel like he’s an introvert, and I can imagine how draining an international tour would be) and I just hope he’s feeling ok and was able to enjoy himself!! 😣

Rocky - He was also quite lively and just giving fanservice left and right! I didn’t watch him too much but even then I could see him waving and throwing hearts and smiles to people 💕

Eunwoo - I really didn’t watch him at all but I’ve been told he was also giving out just tons of personal fanservice~

Sanha - My favorite son, he just had us all cooing and giggling the whole night. He really did seem to be in good spirits!

Moonbin - I’m sorry Bin stans….. I’m sorry Bin….. I don’t know why my brain just decided to completely block him out but 😢😢😢 I barely remember anything he said/did besides what I already talked about. His muscles were probably too powerful 😣😣

kang daniel: the school’s treasured, handsome football quarterback

literally has a group of girls that sit at the front row of the bleachers for every one of his games… it’s wild

he’s quite popular among students, teachers, janitors, etc…

honestly people who don’t know him very well get the impression that he’s just a jock that get what he wants because he’s the star player but those people are immediately proven wrong by everyone else

everyone and their mother agrees that daniel is one of the most genuine and kindhearted people in the school

honestly he’s just a silly guy who spaces out a lot and talks to himself in class abt what he’s going to get for lunch

he’s always finding something to laugh about, whether it be seongwoo’s usual antics or jisung’s never ending list of things to complain about

all in all, he’s a pretty simple guy with simple tastes… but there’s one thing that only his closest friends know about

daniel loves cats. (i bet you saw that coming.)

most of the guys on the football team know he owns two cats but it’s only his friends that know the sheer amount of LOVE he has for them

daniel’s not exactly afraid to tell anyone about it, it’s just that no one asks so he doesn’t really bother (even if he really wants to tell the story of how he had to climb up a tree last week because peter got too excited while chasing birds)

obviously you know who daniel is… he’s the topic of every conversation at school after a game the night before

you never really interacted with him because, to put it simply, you had no reason to

none of your schedules aligned and you never saw him in the halls so honestly? it seemed like he was just a myth to you. an entity that existed only by word of mouth

you weren’t exactly someone who was into sports… although you had to admit football games sounded fun, you would just rather spend time in the warmth of your own home, not on some cold metal bleachers in the chilly season of fall

that, and you were the president of a club that didn’t seem to be very popular with the student body… animal welfare club

no matter how many posters you made, how many announcements you submitted to be said on the intercom, how many classmates you’ve tried to recruit, nothing changed the dwindling members of your club

really, they weren’t even active members… they were just kids trying to join a club to place on their college applications and pretend they actually did something while in high school

however you’ve refused to give up… you just wanted people to be as passionate as you were when it came to the protection of animals

moving the storyline along, there’s this one day when football practice is cancelled because the sprinkler system messed up and turned on during lunch. as a result, the grass didn’t have enough time to dry and was too dangerous to play on

daniel doesn’t really know what to do seeing as seongwoo is his ride home, but he was currently occupied with cross country practice

he’s wandering the halls, wondering what he was going to do until seongwoo was done when he happens to stop in front of a poster for animal welfare club

daniel never really pays attention to the flyers and stuff due to constantly being surrounded by people, but now that he’s alone, the cute little clip art of a cat caught his eye

he skims over the flyer and realizes that a meeting was actually going on at that point in time, and with time to kill, he heads over to the classroom

meanwhile, you’re setting up a powerpoint with the other members apathetically skimming through their phones, just wanting to get things over with

you’re having some trouble so you look up to ask someone to help you with the tech, but your eyes widen when you see a really tall,,,,,,,,, really cute guy,,,,, poke his head into the classroom

he looks over the class quickly and makes eye contact with you and to be quite honest, you were positive your soul left your body

he then SPEAKS and you almost fall just from hearing how deep this guy’s voice is

“is this… the animal welfare club? i hope i’m not too late…”

everyone’s attention immediately goes to the door and they’re staring in disbelief n talking under their breath like……. oh my god is that kang daniel in the FLESH

and when you realize who it is, you almost had a heart attack bc he’s????? real????? kang daniel is handsome and real?? and he’s at your club meeting????

daniel takes everyone’s silence as a yes and makes his way into the room, where he literally sits at the front, center desk. right in front of you

you get super flustered because oh my god why is he so close why did he choose that seat of all seats this is practically an empty classroom and he chose THIS ONE

and in the midst of you freaking out in your head, one of the members in the back of the class lets out an irritable grunt

“can you hurry up? we all have places to be.”

this happens a lot and you’ve just learned to keep your mouth shut and let them complain but this time…. someone speaks up for you

daniel turns around in his seat and says “they’re trying their best. you shouldn’t rush them when they’re practically running this club on their own.”

and his tone isn’t menacing at all but it still manages to strike fear into that one kid and shut them up immediately

and when you finally get the powerpoint to work, you look up to see daniel smiling and giving you his full attention while everyone else is just on their phones

you basically give the weekly presentation to daniel (who actually asks you questions and nods along) and the second you end the meeting, everyone but him is out the door.

even when you’ve finished shutting down the projector and putting back all the tech, you see daniel still sitting in the same seat just scrolling on his phone

you’re unsure of what to do seeing as you just lock the door and leave most of the time, but you were still grateful that he spoke up for you earlier…

so you muster all of your courage to gently tap him on the shoulder and when he looks at you, you almost want to turn around and RUN bc…….. he’s so handsome up close hnsjsksbdj

“i just wanted to say thank you for earlier… you didn’t have to say anything, really, but i still want to express my gratitude”

and then he gives you this grin that almost makes your heart jump out of your cheST and says “it’s no problem! i’m glad i decided to come here… i think i’m going to come back more often”

and you rlly cant believe that star quarterback kang daniel.. wants to join your club

there’s like.. this awkward silence bc you’re still in disbelief about the turn of events when he suddenly asks “oh, am i keeping you behind? i was waiting for my friend to get out of practice but if you need to leave i understand –”

and you honestly aren’t rly in a rush to leave.. so you’re like “oh it’s fine!! i can stay here and do some homework while you wait”

and daniel is at first insistent that he’s keeping you back and he keeps making attempts to leave but you’d feel bad to just shoo him out so you essentially force him to stay by just plopping yourself in a desk and taking out all your work

daniel stares at you for a second before bursting into laughter simply bc of how stubborn you are abt having him stay… and you can’t help but laugh either bc of how ridiculous the situation is

in the end daniel takes a seat beside you and the next thing you know, all your work is forgotten and you’re talking abt whatever happens to come to mind..

at some point you ask him if he has any pets and you see his whole face light up like an excited child while he tells you about his cats peter and rooney and it’s so cute you that you need a moment –

and you guys end up talking for so long that daniel gets a call from seongwoo asking where he is… and that he’s been waiting in the parking lot for half an hour

daniel sheepishly apologizes to seongwoo and tells you that he needs to go… you think he’d just say bye and leave but this boy actually helps you pack up your stuff and lock up the class and you’d be LYING if you said your heart wasn’t beating so fast…

you end up walking to the school parking lot with him and he asks for your number and you’re like ??????¿??????¿¿?

with fumbling hands you manage to put your number in his phone and once he leaves you’re still staring at the text he sent you to make sure it was the right number like… you can’t believe you met the faceless entity kang daniel, got him to join your club, AND got his number all in one day???

that night you’re just lying in bed with the message from daniel still open… and part of you wants to ask him how he’s doing or if he ate yet… and you don’t know why you keep on thinking about him but realistically, you eventually conclude that that he only did it to be nice… there was no point in texting him or whatever. so you just close the message and go to sleep

a week goes by and daniel never messages you.. you knew it was bound to happen bc he’s a busy guy but wow.. reality hurt.

you think he’s just joking when he says he’s going to come back to your club meetings… like you weren’t dense, you knew football practice always occurred during the club meetings

but alas… it’s the next week’s club meeting and you’re setting up the powerpoint when a familiar figure sits himself down in the front center seat. it’s daniel.

at this point you don’t know what to do, so you just ignore him and start the meeting, only acknowledging him to answer whatever questions he had to ask

as usual, everyone is out the door the second you end the meeting but daniel sticks around again… you’re purposely putting things away really slowly in hopes of him leaving but alas… when you’re done he’s still in the same seat, on his phone

he notices you’re done and looks at you with a smile n is like “hey, you never texted me?”

and you just ???????? he was???? expecting a text from you???

and he continues like “i seriously thought i had the wrong number or something… but you’re probably busy so i understand if that’s why!”

and you’re like “HJFKSHJ NO No it’s not that… i just thought that maybe you were busy and i didn’t want to bother you”

daniel lets out this cute chuckle and he’s like “i’m never too busy to have a conversation!!”

and you let out this breath that you didn’t notice you were holding and then you realize… “don’t you have football practice?”

daniel shrugs n is like “yeah but i told coach i had a club meeting n he let me go… i have to be back for the rest of practice tho”

and you’re like “!!!! what are you doing still here then?? go to practice!!!”

he gives you this small frown and is like “but i don’t want to leave you to lock up alone…”

and you nearly dIE BECAUSE????? HFSJHJFSHJHJFKW????????? WHY IS HE SO THOUGHTFUL AND CUTE????????

and it’s because of that interaction that you find yourself laying in bed once again.. staring at his contact name…… and finally mustering the courage to send him a quick message asking if he’s eaten yet

and to your surprise, he replies almost IMMEDIATELY and the next thing you know it’s 3 am and neither of you want to go to sleep

eventually it’s daniel who falls asleep on you but it doesn’t change the fact that you have butterflies in your stomach and you’ve acknowledged that hey… you might actually really like daniel

even if you never see each other during school hours, he’s literally always texting you (even during class, which results in you telling him to focus LMAO). and of course you still see each other at club meetings and he always takes the time to help you lock up.. even if you don’t know that his coach actually yells at him for coming in late

and one day you get a text from daniel telling you that he won’t be able to make it to the club meeting bc of a really important practice for the last game of the season

and you reply like “oh no i understand! good luck at the game!!”

and daniel is like “actually… i was wondering if you wanted to come? i can get you a ticket for free and everything”

and the game is on a friday night and you have nothing better to do… so why not? you accept his offer and he says he’ll give you the ticket the day of

it’s friday and you’re sitting with your friends at lunch when you feel someone tap you on your shoulder and it’s daniel with seongwoo and jisung

he hands you the ticket with a smile on his face and he’s like “i’ll see you there?”

and you return his smile and nod.. you then turn around to continue your lunch but like your friends are literally staring at you like omg…………………. kang daniel rlly just gave u a ticket to the game?? HE WANTS TO SEE U THERE?? OMG DOES HE LIKE YOU?????

and you feel yourself blushing at the possibility but you profusely shake your head like “as if he’d like me…”

and when the game is over and your school wins, everyone’s celebrating and cheering and your jumping out of your seat in excitement and before u realize it.. you’re cheering for daniel

and he’s celebrating with his friends on the field but somehow? he looks up at the bleachers to see you and he possibly the BIGGEST smile on face.. he runs up to the wire fence that separates the bleachers and the field and he’s calling you down

at first you don’t realize it’s you but you notice he’s ignoring all the girls sitting at the front row showering him with compliments.. his eyes are only on you and he’s repeatedly shouting your name and telling you to come down

in the moment of excitement, you completely forget about what you were thinking about earlier and you run up to the fence and you’re telling him good job and how well he did

and he’s just grinning and nodding along at you while you continue to go on and on about how cool he looked on the field

when you finally finish talking you realize that his gaze has been switching from your eyes to your lips

and before you know it… he’s kissing you through one of the gaps in the wire fence. it’s messy n he probably tastes like gatorade but it completely takes you by surprise

and you tense bc you can feel people staring at you and daniel seems to notice this so he pulls away.. he’s looking at your face trying to read your expression but it’s unreadable

and you want to say something so badly but you’re starting to hear those girls from earlier whisper things and daniel’s smile from earlier is completely gone n has been replaced with confusion

daniel opens his mouth to speak but all you can manage is an “i’m sorry” before you just… run away

daniel’s calling your name for you to come back but you ignore him and you just leave

you don’t know this but daniel’s standing there completely unsure of what to do… and probably for the first time in his life… daniel isn’t smiling and he doesn’t have anything to laugh about

you’re at home and you’re curled up in your sheets and you honestly don’t think you can ever face daniel ever again… like he probably only kissed you in the heat of the moment it was probably an accident or smth

you end up deleting all your past conversations with him and cancelling club meetings for the next two weeks just so you don’t have to see him again

little do you know daniel is DEVASTATED and he thinks everything is his fault

he’s constantly telling seongwoo and jisung that he scared you off and that he shouldn’t have kissed you and that you probably hate him now

jisung is like “daniel it’s not your fault… i’m sure it just took them by surprise” while seongwoo on the side is like “WHO ARE THEY ANYWAYS?? THEY’RE MISSING OUT YOU DON’T NEED THEM!!”

seongwoo and jisung are doing everything to try and cheer up daniel again but.. nothing is working. not even cute cat videos work

daniel’s now spacing out in class more often… and to everyone’s shock he’s even ditching practice and just sitting in the student parking lot waiting for seongwoo to finish practice and take him hime

it’s been a month since you’ve last seen daniel… and you think you’ve put aside your club for too long. if you were going to see him then you might as well suck it up

so the next weekly meeting come and you’re setting up your powerpoint and… daniel doesn’t come

you don’t know why part of you is disappointed but you just push those thoughts aside and start the meeting

once it’s over and everyone’s gone, you can’t help but realize how lonely it is without him there… like you’ve been doing it alone months before but now? it’s just so…. lonely

just as you shut the classroom door behind you, you see a tall figure approaching you from the other end of the hall.. but it’s not daniel. it’s seongwoo

he doesn’t seem to have a pleasant expression on his face and you think he’s just going to walk past you but he stops in front of you and is like “daniel’s in the student parking lot. he’s not acting like himself, so go talk some sense into him.”

and you’re just like “but why do i need to do it?? it’s not like i mean anything to him.”

and seongwoo would’ve smacked you upside the head if it wasn’t for the fact that daniel was smitten with you n he’s like “are you dense??? the guy likes you so much and you’re just out here breaking his HEART!!!”

seongwoo lets out this huff of frustration and just leaves you standing in the hall dumbfounded like… he rly… he rly does like you??

and your feet end up taking you to the student parking lot against your will and like seongwoo said, he’s just sitting on one of the parking blocks beside seongwoo’s car

the voice in your head is telling you to just turn around and leave but… you find yourself stepping over the parking block and sitting next to him

daniel doesn’t really say anything and he kind of just… ignores you to the best of his ability until you finally say something

“i’m sorry i ran away from you.”

but he just says “if you hate me you can leave. i get it.”

but the thing is he doesn’t sound hostile at all.. he just sounds hurt

“but.. i don’t hate you, daniel.”

and hearing you say his name, he finally looks at you and is like “then why did you run?”

and you just let out this sigh and you say “it’s because… you’re daniel.”

and he’s just sitting there like ???? what’s that supposed to mean

and youre like “idk you’re rly cool and popular and everyone at school likes you.. meanwhile i’m just a forgettable person who runs a failing club”

daniel sits there in disbelief like “listen…. if you were forgettable… i wouldn’t have spent the past few months spending as much time with you as i can after meetings. i wouldn’t be sitting around waiting for you to text me and immediately replying when you do. and i wouldn’t be constantly thinking about how you’re doing… also i wouldn’t have begged seongwoo for his game ticket to give to you.”

“so… does that mean you like me?”

and daniel finally cracks a smile that makes your heart melt and is like “was it not obvious before?”

and you smile at him back and this time you’re the one who kisses him.. and neither of u run away :’)

the football team is like “god he FINALLY got a significant other… he finally put those muscles to use…”

jisung is constantly cooing over you two like “ah… young love rly is the most beautiful thing to exist…”

seongwoo was a bit hesitant at first bc of what happened before, but he soon gets over it and is constantly complaining abt how you stole his soulmate from him… his bromate.

daniel still spaces out in class but now he’s just talking out loud like “i wonder what class they’re in rn… i hope they’re having a good time…. maybe i’ll buy them lunch today..!”

and the students around him are trying to focus but they gotta admit… it’s kinda cute :’)

daniel goes out of his way to find you during school and walk you to your next class, even if his class is on the other side of the building. he’s also v insistent on carrying all your books for you

there was this one time after you closed up the club classroom and you just made a small remark like “i’m kinda tired”

daniel straight up said “ok. get on my back”

“get on my back i’ll carry you to the parking lot and ask seongwoo to take you home.”

also………… he gave you his football jersey n you wear it as pajamas

gather round, dear followers, for a series of anecdotes from Hell Camp, the source of my best and worst stories

when i was twelve my school sent all its year nine students class by class to a five-week camp, which will henceforth be called Hell Camp. here is the setup:

a four-hour drive out of the city into the outback, where there is a farm owned by the school for the express purpose of hosting Hell Camp

28 girls and 28 boys, each in their own dorm houses

no phones. no computers, no ipods, no TV. no internet (within our reach). we cooked our own food on fire stoves and wrote letters by hand to our parents and friends

no lollies, no soft drinks or juice, all our eggs and milk came off the farm

wake up at 5:30am every day to go for a 3km run and then chores on the farm, from milking the cows to chopping our firewood

Bible study every night because this was a Christian private school

“why???” u may ask. “why did your school subject tweens to a month of this???” supposedly to build character and teach u life skills but tbh idk how knowing how to crack a bullwhip is supposed to help me in life

but it wasnt just five weeks straight of same ol farm life there were other activities they had us do!! camp-like activities!! for example:

Pre-Survival

three days to prepare us because we were innocent younglings who barely knew how to start a fire

basically a campsite in the middle of fuckass nowhere? we rode horses there while the counselors (the Hell Camp resident teachers, but ones that deadlift 50kgs and kill spiders without batting an eye) drove with our bags and stuff and laughed as we got inevitably lost

have u ever used a dunny u have to empty urself

it is so gross. there is a field marked out explicitly for burying everyone’s shit, and u have to take turns. so gross. 

there was a shower which was a metal shed with a bucket of water hung up, which u heated over the fire before u went in and prayed it wasn’t too hot

this was like winter time and we slept in swags on the ground and when we woke up there was frost on our swags

i made an iron horseshoe??? the temptation to touch red hot metal is ridiculous tbh it looks so pretty

someone did touch theirs. it was not me. i heard them yell from across the field where i was helping feed horses.

in the middle of the second night the counselors took us to a giant rock in the middle of the bush where u could see the stars and it was amazing you could see the milky way and everything… but the thing was we had to spend the previous 20 minutes in the dark to get our eyes used to it so they had us hold onto each other’s sleeves and walk blindly into this rugged, rock-covered trail through pitch blackness, praying no one in front is going the wrong way

and then. the counselors played a trick on us by getting one of the kids to stay back in the forest and waited to see how long we’d notice. we didn’t notice until it was time to go back im so sorry Kimmy

Survival

ok this the real shit you went with the same group you were with in pre-survival and the counselors drove you out into the depths of the outback and dropped you and your group off with some tools, food, and tarpauline

and then u just lived out there for three days.

we couldn’t start a fire our first night because it’d been raining before??? our dinner was supposed to be rice, potatoes and carrots, and the carrots were the only edible thing bc u cant eat raw rice and raw potatoes.. u just cant.

there were wild dogs around. we never saw them, but we heard them awoo-ing a lot. so whenever someone split off from the main camp to go pee like two other girls would accompany them as an honor guard, singing Kumbaya to keep the hounds away

sometimes people would go alone and then there would be a Sound in the bush and then you’d just hear them screaming “MAMA’S MAKING KAN TONG”

on our last day the counselors set up targets with drawings of kangaroos on them, handed us a bow and 20 arrows, and said “if u can shoot the kangaroo we’ll give u sausages for your last meal”

never in my life will i ever see such ferocity from 12- to 13-year-old hungry girls again

when it was another group’s turn to be on survival, my group was on normal farm duty, and we were out clearing bush scrub when we heard the survival group girls talking and we realised we’d gotten too close.

“hello?? hello??? is anyone out there?” “oh my god someone’s out there oh my god we’re gonna die” “COME OUT, WE HAVE WEAPONS”

THIS WAS A LIE. WE KNEW DAMN WELL THEY HAD THE SAME THINGS AS US AND THOSE THINGS WERE TWO SHOVELS AND A HEAVY DUTY CLIPPER.

and our fucking counselor just went “shhh!!” to us and herded us back like he just straight up left those nine girls thinking there were bush serial killers out for them

also apparently a tree fell on someone’s head at some point in their survival

at night we slept in a row like snuggling each other cause it was So Fracking Cold and lemme tell u it’s an experience being spooned by the girl who used to sigh whenever you raised your hand in class

Four Day Hike

what it says on the label

55km in four days, carrying all your food, sleeping bags, tents, clothes, toilet paper etc. and minimum 2L of water bottles you could refill at big barrels set out at designated stop points

this is, without a doubt, the single worst experience of my life

nothing good happens when u hand a group of kids a map and a compass and tell them “we’ll look for you if you’re not at the campsite by sundown but apart from that you’re on your own”

i was with an athletic group of kids?? they were Walking So Fast and i was just staggering along with my unfit friend like this is how i die on a godforsaken hill on our way to god knows where

actually i had an asthma attack and they left me behind for a bit fun times

the hike went through some willing farmers’ land and one boy who stupidly climbed a fence got chased by a bull

they sent us off group by group so we’d all make our own way, so whenever u bumped into another group you were like. okay one of us was going the wrong way and it better fucking well be you

there weren’t any showers or anything so we basically all wore the same clothes for four disgustingly sweaty days of hiking

someone used an anthill as a toilet bc it had a nice big hole to drop ur toilet paper down

the ants did not appreciate this

when you run out of toilet paper and it’s only 11am

Solo

this was it. the culmination of the camp. the ultimate character building experience.

which was just 24 hours of alternating boredom and sudden visceral terror now that i think about it

u got dropped off (again in the middle of nowhere see a theme yet) with tarp, a lil trowel, and a clipper, and u just set up camp and did whatever u wanted for 24 hours

they let u bring a bible.

i got really into Leviticus and Deutoronomy before it went dark

listen it was really really boring ok

AND HERE IT IS THE BIT WHERE I DIDN’T HAVE LIGHT WHILE CAMPING ALONE

listen when the sun goes down at 5pm, u go down too. there’s nothing else u can do?? u just gotta sleep???

or, like me, lie awake in mortal terror listening to the bush Come Alive

when the wallaby goes THUMP-THUMP-THUMP and you’re like holy shit this is it the abominable loch ness chupycabra has manifested in the australian outback and it’s going to eat me alive jesus christ protect me with the power of this bible

hence the sheer relief when the sun finally comes out and u can walk around without living in fear of accidentally walking face first into a spiderweb or scratchy lantana bushes

also a mini survey went around afterwards and i’m pretty sure a solid 60% of the girls took a shit on solo like… at long last u can take as long in the toilet as u want… without the other 27 girls banging on the door……

other miscellaneous stories that dont fit anywhere else:

one of the boys went missing?? he wandered off and couldn’t remember anything when they found him in the middle of the bush. cryptic

there was this one homesick girl who was REALLY homesick like she cried every day of the five weeks. by the end of the camp she’d approached everyone to talk about her Feelings and you’d just kind of groan softly when u saw her coming towards your bunk bc u knew u were in for a hopeless comforting session

on sundays sometimes we went to the nearby town’s elderly home to talk to the old folks and some of us could play music so we did little performances for them which was rly sweet!

there were lambs on the farm!! we named them Uggboot and i think Fleece Jacket or smth like that

there were cows too!! meat cows!! they were Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner

my first time on cow milking duty i tried to herd the bull towards the milking pens bc i did not realise he was not a cow. i quickly realised when he took very fast steps towards me and i Got The Dodge Out Of There

we spit roasted an entire pig for the final feast before we left and i will never forget it. the first time in my life i had crackling. half the group was weak in the knees cause we saw the pig get slaughtered and the other half was just “sweet, more for me”

whenever the new fruit delivery came in and the hunger games commenced in the kitchen… tween girls are actually ravenous wolves u heard it here first folks

when u going to the bathroom in the bush and u feel something touch your butt… is it a stray hair? is it a piece of grass? is it a bug??? who knows but nothing makes your bowels loosen faster
