8 and 100 for the book asks!
Hello! @hopebooks
A book you finished in one sitting:
A good girl's guide to murder by Holly Jackson.
There's also a sequel to this book, ( good girl bad blood and as good as dead)
Your Favourite Gothic Book:
Hmm let's see I've read a couple of them but my fav one so far is wuthering heights by Emily Bronte. This book is a lot more poetic than the other books that were written by the bronte sisters and there's LOADS of angst in it( if your a sucker for angst you'll love it).

End of the Year Reading Tag
I was tagged by the wonderful @the---hermit Thank you so much!
Did you reach your reading goal for the year (if you had one)?
Yes! My goal was 40+ and I read 74 (as of 30 December). I'm very pleased with myself.
What are your top 3 books you read this year?
My official top 3 are coming soon in my Books of 2021 Wrapup, but three of the books that lived in my brain the longest this year were I Am the Cheese by Robert Cormier, Zami: A New Spelling of My Name by Audre Lorde, and An Unkindness of Ghosts by Rivers Solomon
What's a book you didn't expect to enjoy quite so much going in?
Antigone by Sophocles, translated by H.D.F. Kitto. It was surprisingly good and impressively relevant for such an old play.
Were there any books that didn't live up to your expectations?
In Cold Blood by Truman Capote and The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant.
Did you reread any old faves? If so, which one was your favorite?
I reread The Graveyard Book (Gaiman), The Pearl (Steinbeck), I Am the Cheese (Cormier), Boneshaker (Priest), The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Adams), and The Tempest (Shakespeare). The only one I reread because I love it was The Graveyard Book; besides that I either reread these for class or because I wanted to revisit them because I didn't remember them very well.
Did you DNF any books?
Island by Aldous Huxley and The Satanic Verses by Salman Rushdie. Both I would give another shot, but it just wasn't the right time for them when I tried them.
Did you read any books outside your usual preferred genre(s)?
The Birth of Venus by Sarah Dunant is a romance, which I don't normally read. However, it wasn't very good (and arguably barely a romance as it's advertised). Otherwise I'll kind of read anything so nothing else was super far outside my preferences - simply because I'll give almost anything a shot.
What was your predominant format this year?
Physical - but I did try my first audiobook this year.
What's the longest book you read this year?
The Empire of Gold by S.A. Chakraborty - clocking in at 782 pages.
What are your top 3 anticipated 2022 releases?
HMRC by Juno Dawson is the only one on my radar right now, but I'm sure I'll check out other 2022 releases.
What books from you TBR did you not get to this year, but at excited to read in 2022?
To name a few:
Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews, The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern, and All Boys Aren't Blue by George M. Johnson
I'll tag (no pressure) @l-in-the-creative-world @abbeyx @hopebooks

HOPEBOOK Readies For Launch Event – Will Forever Change The Way People Around The World Approach Banking & Finance – The World’s Most Transparent Financial Rotation System
This revolutionary platform will be the World’s First Decentralized Community Fund. No longer will financial matters be controlled by the super powerful few. Global consumers will all have equal access to financing via this platform.
London, United Kingdom, May 9, 2018, It has always been a cumbersome task for most people around the globe to make the attempt to acquire funding from banks and existing financial sources. It has always been an upside-down financial system. Those needing the funds the most have the hardest time acquiring them and also must pay the highest rates. Rich people, who don’t need the money, can get it right away and at the lowest rates. What about the world’s unbanked? How do they have access to funding? The answer is that they don’t. Until Now!
HOPEBOOK is a community of ordinary people for voluntarily mutual financial support. It is established based on Blockchain Technology and Smart Contracts. This means that it is owned by nobody and owned by everybody. Smart Contracts on the Blockchain ensure that there is not one person, or a small group of people, that can control the platform or make changes to anything on the platform. Forget about paying fees to intermediaries, there are none.
This is nothing less than a new paradigm in the global banking and financial system. Anybody can purchase the platforms’ token – the DCF.
Here are just some of HOPEBOOK’s Features and Benefits:
Financial Community: HOPEBOOK is a community connecting model, financial – social network where people help each other. This is the first Blockchain and Smart Contract technology-based Decentralized Community Fund in the world.
Transparency: Cheat Codes and individual special privileges do not exist in HOPEBOOK; every transaction within the system is clear, transparent and unchangeable by anyone, even the system creators, as the whole system is managed with technology of Blockchain and Smart Contracts. This is the most transparent financial system in the world.
Fairness: HOPEBOOK is operated with an automatic algorithm which is fair to everyone, without any exceptions. Penalties, account blocks or frozen accounts cannot occur. Every member has the same rights and obligations and is bound by the Smart Contract in which they cannot cheat or shirk their responsibilities.
Decentralized Finance: HOPEBOOK provides a decentralized platform based on Blockchain Technology and Smart Contracts which allows millions of participants to directly Support the Community and Receive the Support from the community without any intermediaries. HOPEBOOK respects the principle of a circulated waiting period while the system plays the role of calculating and balancing.
Automatic: HOPEBOOK is created with an automatic and intelligent algorithm. A user’s task is as simple as registering to be a Supporter and observing the system as it searches for the Receivers and transfers the money to help them. Then, the user will be automatically registered as the Receiver by the system before it searches for the Supporters who will transfer their money to help the user.
Refundable At Any Time: At any time of funding process, every member has right to vote for a Refund. The voting right depends on member’s equity, the bigger the equity is, the stronger his vote. If 51% or more of votes choose a Refund, all funded amounts would be automatically refunded into each member’s wallet, corresponding to their equity ratio. Some parts cannot be refunded. Each account has the right to vote for a Refund only once.
This is a much-anticipated product and has gathered much interest from both private and institutional investors. Early adopters stand to gain the most from great discounts on the DCF Token. A complete discussion about this platform can be viewed in their Whitepaper here.

Hopebook

Wabi-Sabi Studyblr Challenge
Tumblr media
wabi-sabi (侘寂)
Combination of two old words with overlapping definitions, wabi-sabi might be the Buddhist view of the facts of existence: Both life and art are beautiful not because they are perfect and eternal, but because they are imperfect and fleeting. (japanology, 2016)
Hello again! As the semester ends and I'm (finally) graduating college, and after seeing you all enjoy my last challenge, I was willing to create another one, a different one this time, cause I know times have been hard, we are facing new changes as we go back to "normal life" and honestly we all need a bit of relaxation.
info.
wabi-sabi challenge is born out of this need to continuously question and improve the studyblr community, with the goal of visibilizing not only the pleasing aesthetics of it but the hard work and the struggles the students face while striving high to meet their goals.
This is a short challenge, so feel free to adapt it to your schedule, add it to another challenge, use it to post during your summer break, whatever fits you best.
I will be starting the challenge on June 7th, however, feel free to start, end, post, whenever it works best for you.
If you decide to join me in this challenge, use the hashtag #wabi-sabi studyblr challenge so I can keep track of your amazing posts and can reblog them!
aims.
As stated before, the aim of the wabi-sabi challenge is to shine a light and normalize to an extent, that academic journeys are not just the great things we mostly post, that there are as many bad days as there are good days, that we must embrace the journey as something beautiful in all of its imperfection.
Also, as you may already know, this is an effort to provide a safe space for all, times are still hard and we need to keep going, one step at a time.
rules.
If you want to do this challenge, please reblog this post
This is a short challenge, it should not be a burden to the way you post so you can post as frequently as you like/are able to.
Please be respectful. If some of the prompts ask for personal insights please have in mind that everyone has had different experiences and POVs.
prompts.
What series/movie has been sitting on your watchlist forever? And what is it that keeps pushing it back from being enjoyed?
If you're into podcasts, be honest, what podcast was added to your list to listen to someday but is just there? also, please recommend us a podcast.
Share us a playlist that's on top of the list because I'm sure there are others I want to hear but this one is already here on top so I might as well listen to it again.
Name that one book you bought and swear you're going to get to, probably have read the first three pages or so but now it's just there.
How often do you get the need to change your working space layout?
Rank your classes from most to least to make you want to scream your lungs out/cry.
If you're on TikTok, link us to a good one.
A hobby you picked up and haven't really had the time to go back to/didn't end up liking that much
Use this space to tell us anything in a "Today I learned" way
tag game (the linked page is a template, you could, of course, use any other tag game you'd like)
If comfortable, share with us a little bit of your researching process, do you make an outline? a schedule? and how well do you stick by it?
Okay, quick question, when was the last time you had a mental health day?
Pinterest is amazing, what's one pin that you came across and was like yeah, I could do that
Digital agenda, google calendar, notion, bullet journal, paper agenda, or something entirely different? do please tell us how well organizing your time has turned out for you.
Tell us a bit about your life journey, as much as you're comfortable sharing.
taglist.
a special thanks to @just-a-cup-of-anxietea @soaked-in-starlight @godzilla-studies @appreciating-apricity @coco-bean for replying to a post I made that ultimately helped put this challenge together.
I'm tagging people that took part in my last challenge, hopefully you'll want to be part of this too. If you want me to add you to the list so you can get reminded of it, reply to the post or send me a message, i'll remind you.
@myhoneststudyblr @gammastudies @studywithsab @productivebuddy @studyambitiouss @hopebooks @coffeambition @diaryofastemstudent @theologei @study-in-cafes @heyeducateyourself @cofitee @verypolish-studyblr @studycris @future-engr @studydiaryofamedstudent @coffee-catz @illya-studies  @problematicprocrastinator @fiercelittlestudyblr @serendistudy @bulletnotestudies @study-van @bright-goals @notebookist @study-van @kaoskuantico @messy-does-cosmology @bulletnotestudies
disclaimer.
I do have to clarify, this is all in good spirits, I do not intend to promote procrastination as self-destructive behaviour, this is all about non-linear productivity and the visibilization of it because we have grown accustomed to hiding the "ugly" the imperfect parts of our journeys as if forgetting that we are multidimensional beings, that we are allowed to not be mainstream productive 24/7. With that being said, don't push your limits too much with this challenge, do what you're comfortable with, share as much or as little as you'd like, you don't owe the internet insight into your personal/academic journey.
