Patiently waiting for your thoughts on Fontaine’s new archon quest 🫡

oh man. i do have some thoughts to share.

(warning for spoilers to those who haven't played through the latest archon quest)!

OKAY, so — overall? i enjoyed it. the fortress of meropide section felt a little tedious at times, i'm begging mihoyo to abandon those awful 'stealth' 'gameplay' sections. aside from that though, i was always interested enough to keep moving ahead. i especially like how they wrote navia. the story of her and her father got me emotionally invested in her as a character, i actually teared up at one point.

i was glad they avoided their infamous 'introduce a character and have them betray you' shtick. idk if that was a quota they had to reach before and that's why they did it so often, but in any case, it made for a refreshing change. the reveal of fontaine's history, the serial disappearances, focalors and furina; there were lots of intriguing story beats. furina's story might somehow be one of the saddest in genshin yet?? the execution of the reveal and the final conversation between focalors and neuvillette packed a strong emotional punch.

onto my gripes...

childe. why. why'd they do my man like that. the buildup was so interesting! the cutscene where he helps neuvillette subdue the space whale had me frothing at the mouth. him in his foul legacy armor ... his leitmotif playing... him growling and grunting.... oh, how happy i was, naïve thing that i am. i was a bit confused how they dedicated a total of three seconds to traveler and the floating fiend going 'oh wow there's childe ig.' like ??? at this point in the story, i thought they were sorta buddies??

the space whale's execution confused me. i expected it to be deeply tied to fontaine's past, or at the very least give some abyss bread crumbs, but it just kinda flopped around and stuff. the fight was cool, don't get me wrong. but the whole 'yeah this whale is some dude's pet lol' bit just felt odd. i get that they want to prove the Big Important Name Fella is suuuper important and suuuper strong but c'mon. at least make the space whale a creation that ran rampant or something.

i could've forgiven the space whale shenanigans if we got a nice conversation with childe at the end. how did he feel in the abyss? was he fighting the whale to keep the people of fontaine safe, out of bloodlust, or something in between? what was it like seeing skirk again? how much time felt like it passed when he was in whale abyss prison? does his vision resonate with him properly again?

instead, we just get a few throwaway lines that he's back in snezhnaya healing up. did they run out of budget to book his VA?? i get they have to be selective with lore drops, but there are so many ways around that.

my last major gripe is how they went about furina's character quest. maybe i'm just an oversensitive weenie (i definitely am), but the traveler and flying creature's interactions with furina... i was physically grimacing. how did they seriously think it was a good idea to ask the person who has been tormented by acting for 500 years to give the stage another shot? imo, it would've been fine if they tried that, furina rejected them, and everything played out about the same. but those bits where traveler + the imp kept pressuring furina felt so weeeeeeird. i genuinely didn't want to click the dialogue options. if this was framed differently, that would've also been fine, but it's kinda a 'haha :3 epic paimon says teehee te nandayo reddit gold' light.

tl;dr i liked the overall experience but someone needs to delete paimon from the game + treat their characters as more than a punchline.

Finished S1 of Castlevania Nocturne! I gotta say, that one vampire wife of the Marquis who kept his head around was the funniest character in the entire show so far.

In all seriousness, Alucard!!! I was wondering when he'd show up and by the time he did, I'd completely forgotten and thought it was Olrox who saved Richter from Drolta! Speaking of Drolta, she dresses very similar to the Succubus from Symphony of the Night, and even has a similar attack where she spreads out her wings, and sharp tendrils emerge from them; Plus with Alucard being the one to kill her, I'm just gonna treat her as the Succubus. RIP Queen you were a good one.

Does anyone else think Emmanuel is Shaft? He looks like Shaft, he's an evil priest, he's working for an evil vampire, him being human makes him necessary to pull souls from hell. That forgemaster contraption kinda reminds me of that weird orb-thing his ghost fights with in Symphony of the Night...

Speaking of that! Olrox muses on the demon that Emmanuel made a deal with to create that machine, and because of its creator, it's indestructible. Could this be pointing towards Galamoth as the final enemy of the show; He's the hardest boss of Symphony of the Night, Alucard has just shown up, and the two technically fought in... Kid Dracula. Where he was also the final boss for Alucard. The demon might just be Death, but then he's described as an elemental spirit.

I'm also curious as to how Edouard's story will turn out! Between him and Jacques and the Night Creature with a suspicious amount of mouths (as Bathory noted), the show seems to be going back to the whole idea of Night Creatures remembering their humanity and being rehabilitated. Which just begs the question of what happened to Isaac's kingdom of Styria, meant to be a place for Night Creatures to heal? Will we see that come back for Edouard? Isaac was once a slave himself, just as Annette was, so seeing all three come together would be wonderful! It's poetic, as Night Creatures are literally dehumanized slaves, so seeing Isaac, as well as Edouard (someone who helped liberate slaves) resonate with them works.

I wonder if we'll see the Moth Princess from Bloodlines; She's the penultimate boss, and Bathory had her starring role in that game. She looks human enough, but she's probably a vampire, so it'd be easy to adapt her as another lieutenant, especially in the wake of Drolta's death.

DAYUM Olrox and Mizrak! Firstly I'm glad they made Olrox turn into a green reptile monster like in the games... I was joking about the more comfortable place to meet being a bed, but holy shit it actually happened. I love all the references to Olrox's game lore, like his skulls and floating around... Here's hoping we get to see him dramatically unfold his legs in a chair, and then stand up!

I had a lot of fun; Richter was great, Maria was adorable and she is my precious child and I love her so much!!! I love her turtle and I hope we get to see her summon a whole-ass dragon as her most powerful spell, something like that.

I wonder how Emmanuel will go from here, if he's meant to be Shaft; Will he dive into full villainy, or will he be like Isaac, in that his show counterpart will have a happier ending? As Tera said, Emmanuel got his ram; Could it lead to him developing a messiah complex, thinking God rewarded him for his faith? Or will he know better? If he's Shaft, I better see him throw some... *snrk*... balls.

And did anyone else find the Night Creatures in this season to be particularly horny? Like that one moth girl who looks like a monsterfucker's OC, I mean I'm not complaining! Is this just a creative decision by the animators or does Emmanuel have anything he wants to share with the class... It all started with Abel it seems.

AND JUSTE!!! I managed to guess it; The white hair always made me wonder how Juste might be adapted, hypothetically, so it seems the show just portrays him as an old man for that! When he took Richter's whip, I had my suspicions and made the hair connection, it was wonderful... And they referenced Lydie and Maxim!!! Unfortunately it was yet another tragic ending for a Belmont... Man, what happened to the previous season's ending suggesting a happier route, only for us to go back to a "Last of the Belmonts" situation??? At least we got a Sypha shout out!

One more thing I just remembered; Annette's favorite color is Green. I believe that's a reference to her sometimes being depicted with a green dress in the source material? And in-universe, might reference Edouard... I love the connection between Annette's manipulation of metal, and her whole thing of banishing the demonic machine; Here's hoping she gets to pull it off!

All in all, I'm excited to see how things go in the second season! Which will really suck waiting for, but that's the price for quality I'm afraid. Ethical quality at least. But I gotta wait, what other choice do I have? Here's looking forward to how Alucard interacts with yet another Belmont... When Richter almost drank, I could just SEE him become Trevor again and I bet Alucard felt a chill down his spine for some reason.

Hi I'm new to the walking dead for the Rick and michonne show! I want to watch where should I start? Can I ask who is Jessie and why was he miserable? It just seems like such a fun fandom there's so much lore I kinda want to know everything. How far back should I go to get the full story from the actors and everything? I kind of live for the kind of stuff lol. But it's OK if it's a lot to explain. I thought about just spending a few days digging through the tag as far back as I could go. This show and all the gifsets and all the fun everyone is having kinda has me obsessed a little bit. But should I watch the whole series? It's eleven seasons lol.

I'll explain it all to you, no problem! I'll just warn you there will be a few spoilers though, ok? It's kinda hard to explain without them, so if you don't want spoilers, don't read on.

Listen, Rick and Michonne aside (who are awesome, amazing, perfect) The Walking Dead is a REALLY good show all around. It's honestly got some of the best writing I've ever seen on TV. So, if you like TV shows and you're looking for a good one, I'd advise you to watch it all from the beginning. It is indeed a lot but it's gonna go by so fast, because it's so good, you won't even feel it. Seriously, all of the characters, the dynamics between them, the bonds they all forge, the development of the characters, the relationships, the narrative, the found family aspect of it, it's all chef's kiss. And Rick and Michonne is like the cherry on top. It's like, in case you thought we couldn't make things even better, here's the best couple of all time for you, enjoy.

Now, focusing on just Rick and Michonne, I'd still advise you to watch it from the beginning so that you can FULLY appreciate it when they finally get together. Cause we have Rick's relationship with Lori (his dead wife) in the beginning of the show, which was just not good at all, she never had his back, so when he finally meets Michonne and she becomes his partner in every way, even before they fall in love, it's just got a different flavor when it finally happens, you know? Cause everything he has with Michonne is the complete opposite of what he had with Lori, and it's glorious, and you can see why they were made for each other and are soulmates, so unless you see that relationship first, it's not gonna have the same impact in my humble opinion.

As for Jessie, and Andy being miserable about Rick's storyline with her on the panels, Jessie is a character (the most generic character you can possibly think of) that shows up closer to the end of season 5, before Rick and Michonne get together, and she's on the show for 14 episodes. Rick is kind of having a bit of a breakdown at this point and he develops a little thing for her but nothing really happens between them. They only share one very chaste kiss, which is shown from a distance. You see, Jessie's kind of a stand-in for his dead wife at this point in his storyline. Her fragility kinda reminds him of her, her husband is abusive and so she's someone he can save like he couldn't save his wife. She's like a second chance for him to save his dead wife, that was her whole purpose.

But the whole thing is just very forced and stupid and nobody wanted it, everybody was already shipping Richonne then for a long time, so it made NO sense. And at the time, the marketing for the show was really pushing this whole Jessie thing, so Andy's miserable on all the panels where that storyline is brought up because he had always wanted Rick and Michonne together, even his mom wanted it, both he and Danai (the actress who plays Michonne) have both said they were always playing romance when it came to Rick and Michonne, and it's very clear from the writing that that's where things were headed, so again, this Jessie person made NO sense. So, on the panels, whenever the Jessie storyline was brought up, Andy would usually keep his head down, hiding behind his hat and wouldn't say anything, wouldn't express anything, only the actress playing Jessie talked. He really just wanted to forget that storyline was a thing at all, it was bad enough he had to play it.

But thankfully, like I said, nothing really happens between them, she's in it for just a few episodes and then Michonne becomes his entire world.

Now, if you only want to watch starting from the point where Rick and Michonne meet, that's right at the end of 3x06. And if you only want to watch from when they get together, that's 6x10. It's still gonna be awesome and amazing, but like I explained, you might not get the FULL experience.

It is indeed many seasons but the first one is only 6 episodes long and from then on, each season is about 13-16 episodes long.

I LOVE THIS IDEA SO MUCH WHAT. I decided I love this idea so much that i wrote smth for both Near and L. I m not sure if what i wrote is somehow lore accurate or not, I wrote it for fun 🤷‍♀️. Just so yk I didn t really write that much about them.

I feel like both of them would make mean comments all the time, indirectly calling you stupid. At first they wouldn t really care if you took them seriously or not but they would slowly start to sugar coat the comments if they care enough about you. If the relationship aged they would stop sugar coating the mean comments knowing you don t get offended by them anymore, and you would be taking them more as a joke.

They both are scared to show their emotions, so if somehow you see another side of them, other than the indifferent one, you re lucky.

At first Near would stare at you and analize all your moves. L would do that too the only diffrence being that L wouldn t give a shit if you caught him staring and Near would be really carefull to not get caught.

Near dosen t like physical touch at all, so as soon as he got comfy around you he would probably start tugging on your arm to show you stuff and get closer to you, literally into your personal space. I m pretty sure L dosen t like the touch of another person either but he would get into anybody s personal space just to annoy, intimidate or disturb them.

Near is most likely protective of his toys not letting anybody near them. With that being said, if he asked you to play with his toys or didn t start throwing a tantrum if you touched his toys, he cares about you a lot.

At first, Near is the kind of person to watch you talk and not really take part in the conversation, or start it, although he will try to start a conversation or keep it going if you don t say anything, ONLY if he likes you.

Near isn t the kind of person to go out of his comfort zone even if it s for a case. He dosen t like trying out stuff or meeting new people, so, if you ask him to do something new or try something, he would usually refuse, unless he trust s you.

Just like Near is protective over his toys, L is "protective" over his sweets. I think everybody has said this and i will say it again, he dosen t like sharing his sweets. Alright, if we are talking about somebody he works with, yeah, he would probably share but not always and only if the other person insists. Buttttttt (🍑) if he considers you a friend he would insist on sharing with you.

Honestly I think L is a little emo. So he would totally make you a playlist of some shitty songs he likes. (He made one for Light and Misa for sure) (Source: trust me bro) (i was the ceilling, dw, i wouldn t lie 💕)

Talking about his past would be a really big step. If he talked about his past w you, you better take good care of the poor guy cuz he actually trust s you a lot. (That would be the case for Near too but I m way too lazy to go back to the first part)

L dosen t sleep much, we already know that. But, did you know we usually feel sleepy around people we are comfy around and we trust? Now that you do, imagine a sleepy L hitting his head on the desk bcs he finally felt comfy enough to actually sleep. (He would probably ask you to watch him untill he falls asleep 😭)

ANIMATION RAMBLINGS

I am so hyped for animation right now. Please let me share with you my excitement (as well as some links)!

FIRST: Super happy for the writer's guild on their win this month. I'm always happy to see the entertainment peeps standing up for themselves. This is a huge deal. There's been some talk of anime production workers possibly taking action as well, but there hasn't been any concrete news on that.

SECOND: What's come recently? Well, Fiona and Cake was great! I very nearly cried at several points lol, it was a very satisfying ending. And Worthikids (click to see their Youtube!) recently finished off their second season of Bigtop Burger: A funny little series of short videos about clowns making burgers in a food truck. It's wonderful and there's been a fair bit of lore that's been revealed from this season. Can't wait for what's to come in season 3 (which has pretty much been confirmed at this point)!

THIRD: What's to come? The new Scott Pilgrim anime series is coming soon! Just a little over a month until it premiers!! The little bit of teasers we've gotten so far make it look promising, and considering a lot of OGs from previous Scott Pilgrim media came back to work on it, I think it's safe to assume we'll enjoy what we see (despite Netflix being Netflix). There's also the Among Us series in development with the creator of Infinity Train Owen Dennis! It will probably be another year or so before we get more information on that, but it's a fun thing to look forward to.

What I'm really looking forward to are several independent projects coming up. More people are realizing that they can still tell the stories they want without corporate overlords breathing over their necks 24/7. Of course, this doesn't come without its hardships. Their main sources of income are coming mostly from crowdfunding and selling merch, and production may be slower (honestly for the best, stop the crunch culture). But to many of them, it's worth doing.

First off, Lackadaisy- What's that, you ask? It's about mobster cats in the Prohobition Era. It's got both whimsy and grit, both light humor and darker, more somber themes. And the art is so fun! It started off as a comic- check out their site! They released an animated pilot earlier this year! And just recently they got their project completely crowdfunded- several times more than what they were aiming for! The whole first season is funded and they're getting to work on production!

Then there's this fun guide series by one of my favorite stop motion animators Cranbersher! His work is amazing, he's done plenty of stuff for Youtubers including Markiplier and Jacksepticeye, and he even got to animate in Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio!!! He's been working on his series "Cranbersher's Guide to Stop Motion" for many years now, and he has been working diligently on the finale. Seriously, I recommend giving Cranbersher's Guide a watch. And do NOT skip any episodes! I promise you it's worth it, you'll learn a lot about animation. :)

Third, Jellybox Studio!! A new independent studio formed by Gene Goldstein, the mind behind Planet Panic and frontman for punk-rock band Qbomb! His animation is amazing, and with a whole team behind him, they're planning a 40-episode miniseries called NOXP! Gene has already released a few episodes on their socials.

And last, at least for now, there's Monkey Wrench by Zeurel! Essentially it's about two space bounty hunters trying to start fresh and not to get killed. It's definitely more on the mature side but the first episode is a pretty fun adventure on its own! (Its been a while since I've seen it, oof) The second episode came out several months ago and the series is also still in development, I'm excited to see what's in store!

Honestly there's a lot going on with animation lately. Times are changing, and I kind of hope we see more animators and crews turn to other options to bring their stories to people. Get excited!

Bonus: There have been a dozen reanimation projects over the last few years. They really popped off after the Game Grumps, Kirby, and Dover Boys projects got more attention. One of them, Gravity Falls Reanimated (which seeks to reanimate the first episode of Gravity Falls with contributions from dozens of different animators) is nearly complete after several years! The final product will be released under Alchemy Paint Studios. It's been a long time coming, but it's almost here!

NPC!Purple (aka Sammy8D’s headcanon Purple backstory)

You know, with the release of AvM ep. 29 on the horizon,

I realized I don’t think I’ve ever publicly shared one of my most precious and long running au/headcanons

I mean, I’ve definitely share it on the AvA Enthusiasts server but never here on Tumblr, and let me tell you, I have a LOT of created for this

Including a 9 chapter long origin fanfic (3 chapters already written out!), a whole character arc for Purple, and even a future arc for them that expands out their world

Unfortunately, I never felt like this idea was ready to be made public but with the fabled Purple and Green episode so close, you know what? Why not just get it out there!

Now is the best time before this episode absolutely destroys any sense of “canon” to my story asldkgjls

Without further ado, here is a rough summary of 

Sammy8D’s NPC!Purple AU/Headcanon Backstory!

So to preface this, the premise of Purple’s backstory was created back in 2020 after I officially got into the AvA fandom, so at that point, we didn’t know about King and what his involvement with Purple could entail

So just keep that in mind when I start talking about things

Alright to start off, 

This is my interpretation of Purple’s potential backstory that quickly grew into AU territory the more I started developing it. (Listen, Alan gave us a stick figure with little to no backstory and then didn’t mention them at all for the next 2 years. You expect me, guy known to love lore, to just let that stand? /lh alskdlgjs)

The premise is this. 

Purple was originally from a Medieval themed RPG game on the StickPage website. They lived in the main village and worked as a Shopkeeper, buying and selling item from the Hero (aka the playable character). Aside from being a shopkeep, they were also friends with the town’s blacksmith (Pink) and the members of the Hero’s Party, Gray (the tank) and White (the mage/healer). They also had a friendly rivalry with a travelling merchant known as Navy.

All of this is to say, they were living a happy life.

Until the Dark Lord and the Chosen One arrived and destroyed their game. 

(Alan jokingly said Purple had a rough childhood once, and I took that seriously)

In the panic, Purple was accidently ejected from their game and crash landed on the MAC desktop we find them on in AvM ep. 9. Unfortunately for them, due to Dark and Chosen’s attacks, the StickPage website went down for maintenance and Purple couldn’t return back to their game.

So they wait, and when the website finally returns?

Their game is no longer there. As it turns out after the attack, the game files were partly corrupted and the game’s creator decided to not risk further corruption and removed the game from the site.

Now Purple is stranded and homeless, having lost everything they’ve ever known in a matter of minutes.

Of course, things don’t stay bad. Eventually Minecraft is introduced to them and the rest is history, but this is pretty much the jist of how I imagined Purple coming to live on the MAC.

The main problem I’m facing rn is that I don’t know how King would fit into this picture. I currently have 2 working ideas to add King in but it all kinda depends on if Purple meets King before or after the events of AvM ep 10. 

The first idea is if Purple and King meet AFTER the events of AvM ep 10. In this route, Purple would have fled from their desktop into the Nether and met King. Purple decides to join and follow him under the promise that King can help Purple regain everything they’ve lost.

Alternatively, the second idea is that Purple and King meet BEFORE the events of AvM ep 10. In this scenario, King is actually the one who introduces Purple to Minecraft. This would be shortly (like a few months) after Purple loses their game so when King comes along, they kinda latch on to him.

Either way, I think I have enough ideas for both scenarios to work. I just need to figure out with one I want to do more.

Also, I heard through the grapevine that we might be getting ACTUAL purple backstory soon so you know what? I’ve been working and thinking about this particular headcanon backstory since Showdown, so whatever happens happens. I’m happy to say this is an AU when the time comes. It won’t make a difference to me! ^^

Again, I took these live. You can see I got too tired to continue when we got to the interrogation part.

It's a long read. I'm currently trying to make a more cohesive overlook. this is all the q!characters I just got tired and needed to sacrifice some stuff for quick note taking lol

Teleported out of nowhere, yet excited to get attention and a mission. Willingness to do whatever, has a limit but isn't bothered say what his limit is. Cucurucho tells him “I trust your strong sense of justice” which don’t align with q!foolish really? Even q!foolish himself is confused by this/seems to kinda disagree, but quickly adjusts to please cucurucho in order to secure getting a mission? (Scapegoat foolish arc too?).

Is taken aback by the arrest mission, seems uneasy at first, but no spoken qualms about doing it. Excited about the possibility of being able to just choose someone and arrest them for whatever. Admits to not really understanding Cucurucho’s ‘angle’.

Immediately believes Cucurucho’s words regarding Tazercraft being behind mr. mustards disappearing.  Only a little “are you sure?” and foolish is on board and believes cucurucho. Agrees immediately. No attempt to defy or get out of the situation. Goes straight for how he can get them to the cucurucho office. Genuinely thinks they won’t get mad? Relies on his being on good terms and considered a silly little guy, to get away with betrayal. Does not want to be seen with cucurucho by the others in the tunnel. Not forthcoming/upfront. Uses the situation to get a gun. Believes it’ll bring mr. mustard back, but does question how, though quickly moves past that. Keeps saying “they’ll understand.”

Doesn’t really take it seriously. Finally asks a good question “why doesn’t cucurucho arrest them himself? He’s done it before and is probably more capable of it?” doesn’t take his own line of thought seriously, and reverts to self-confidence, “maybe they think I’m a threatening guy, maybe it’s the outfit”.

There is never a moment of second guessing, he is ready to do it, despite being a bit nervous.

Allows them to finish haircut. Says to tazercraft he has something important to tell them, in an excited sort of way, no warning given. He makes it seem like he wants to share information or show off something. Has a chance to come clean when asked why he disappeared out of thin air, but just gets more excited and keeps quiet, lies somewhat to make it seem like lore-sharing. Excited. Just excitement.

Liar. Says he doesn’t want to do it but has to. No indication that he was forced to do so. He willingly agreed to it. Didn’t attempt to say no.  Tazercraft asks why? Foolish says, good question, do you have anything to do with mr. mustard, and tazercraft denies. Says he feels bad but doesn’t really. trusts cucurucho over his friends. Continues being excited and kinda bragging about his arrest? Even though he KNOWS it’s not something others will be happy about. Refuses to share information. Doesn’t believe he has anything to do with tazercraft disappearing despite being the one leading them to cucurucho and arresting them. Says a whole lot of nothing. Bunch of empty words all circling back to the same fact: He will not share information. Keeps admitting to arresting tazercraft proudly, but again not sharing any actual information.

The way he answers cellbit shows that he does understand that he did something perceived as wrong by his friends. Even when cellbit makes it clear, that if foolish is in any way omitting truth and not sharing information, he would no longer consider him a friend, he still chooses to not share his actual information and continues his talking without any substance.

Alright, I have a few loaded up for y'all, but I mostly just cleaned out my WIPs. Most of them were requests, which you will also be seeing a bit more of here soon!

First off, we have a lil snippet of TTF 9:

You push against him, trying to pry his arms away, and this, combined with the seriousness ebbing into your tone, finally catches his attention. He looks up at you, a slight pout on his full lips.  “I just need to let her know,” you say, waiting for him to loosen his grip, but he only sighs.  “Honestly, I don’t think that’s a good idea, sweetheart,” he admits, looking at you with genuine concern.  You frown, a bit taken aback.  “What do you mean?”  He sighs again and looks down past you, almost like he’s getting ready to explain something to a small child. You don’t like the way it makes you feel like such. You’ve noticed recently that he has a tendency to make you feel like a kid, though you don’t think it’s intentional. The age gap definitely doesn’t help either. It makes you worry sometimes that you’re too immature for him, even though you know you’re not in the slightest.  “I don’t think you should tell anyone you’re leaving,” he explains.

Next up, FB 7:

What’s worse, though, is the way your brain plays tricks on you. You see memories from your childhood, your mom and dad standing vividly in front of you.  Sometimes, you’ll wake and find Mando hovering above you, adjusting your pillow, cleaning your wounds. It seems so real, as real as the tears in your eyes and the ache in your chest, but you know it can’t be. It feels real, sounds real, looks real, but you know it's a figment of your cruel imagination. A fever dream trying to trick you into thinking that everything is okay.  It doesn’t work though; you know better than that. So you close your eyes again, as you do every time, willing your body to get the rest it needs and your brain to stop fighting with your heart. There are a couple times where you close them fully expecting not to open them again, and you find that the thought doesn't scare you. Being exhausted is exhausting, you decide after the first few times. 

Lastly, I got that Marcus Moreno fic I was talking about a while back:

He looks fucking gorgeous as always. He’s wearing a light blue button-up with black slacks and shiny black shoes. And, of course, those thick-rimmed glasses that have proven themselves to be your ultimate weakness. He smiles back at you and it’s like your blood turns to lava coursing through your veins.  “Hey, sweetheart,” he says way too casually as he sets his coat down on the chair beside him. “How was your day? Missy didn’t give you too much trouble?”  It takes you a moment to register that what he said required an answer. You were too busy picking his outfit apart and damn-near tearing his clothes off with your eyes.  “No, she was an angel as always!,” you say completely truthfully. Missy is the sweetest, most calm child you’ve ever babysat. At six years old, she is perfectly well behaved. “Did a bit of swimming and played a board game before dinner. She’s out cold now.”  Marcus beams as he walks to the kitchen.  “I’m glad to hear,” he calls out to you as he starts rifling through cabinets. “C’mere, I got something for you.”  Your stomach flips, but your brows furrow. Why would he have something for you?

Hello Raven. Ive been reading on your opinions and thoughts about How TWST would work as an otome game and im really interested.Your analysis is great and it feels refreshing to see another person that finds people "uwufying" certain characters irritating.

First,I would like to say that I was very surprised when i found your opinions about how TWST works as a dating sim.Most people romanticise TWST Its the exact same reason why i thought TWST was a otome when i first heard about it,and being manufactured by Disney didnt help at all.It was amazing seeing how much your opinion about it clashes so much around other peoples lolololol

This might sound offending but i seriously thought alot of people here were "uwufyers"(?) And believes in "love solves everything" and it was a large immediate bad image turn on for me.It was tiring seeing people constantly think of love as all sunshine and daisies and ignore the soil erosions around them,probably one of the big reasons why alot of peoples first relationships dont work out at all.

Ok i need to start getting to why i actually wrote this ask

I can totally see TWST working as a dating sim while still maintaining the main foundations of the game.

There might be some holes in this idea but im a wild teenager on the loose not a game developer.

Overused Love tropes are boring and happy ever afters are a one in a trillion chance of happening

So while Were not gonna touch on most of the plot in TWST the most were gonna change about it are only small little details. Its important for the character to have some bad traits and lore( that is not overused and boring and looks like it was written by a 5 year old,thank you very much) so all thats going to happen to make it work is by adding some more intimacy and physical contact on the game like Kalim hugging you repeatedly occuring,Trey baking with you because you asked him to help you on the school project and it becoming a thing the both of do together,Apple Carving with Epel,Having fun causing trouble with the Adeuce duo yada yada so while we do have some sweet moments and maybe a mix of romantic ones and friendzone moments aka giving the player mixed signals so they suffer

And based on which route you choose is who yuu will fall in love with,but only a selected few have happy endings

Take Jack for example,the only problems i really see here is his tendency to tie himself to his morals(which can be considered as a toxic trait)and his tsundere personality(which i honestly find quite annoying) so a "happy ending" "bittersweet ending" and "bad ending" along with "worse ending"(which are all the possible endings you can get and is available)

Happy ending:Jack shares the same feelings and after a lot while of debating and friendzoning you slowlyyyy subtley admits his feelings and after years and years of reassurance,tears,awkward flirting and amateur courting,you guys finally get together.yay

Bittersweet ending:Jack only sees you as a friend and its so painfully obvious.you would be a fool to believe hes going to catch on feelings for you when he stated himself he sees you as a sibling.Not wanting to ruin everything you kept your feelings sealed and just smiled

Idk abt the bad and worse endings i ran out of ideas haha

The other ones like Idia only has a "bittersweet ending"(which isnt always friendzoning the player more like he had feelings for you too but his insecurities got in the way) and a "bad ending"(you cry your little heart as you remember exactly how Idia belittled your feelings,should have known better when he was quite actively mocking love).Some only have a "happy ending" and "bittersweet ending".While others have different mixtures based on personality,background and occupation

However none of the royals have a "happy ending" why? Simple,Youre a commoner.A magicless prefect that came from an unknown world,You seriously think people will take to you kindly? Honestly with Leona there miiight be chance but with Malleus?The chances of you transporting to the fictional world is higher than being liked by 1% of fae while still being human.The eels only have a bad and worse ending and i think you know the reason for that.

Bad endings can be caused by other major factors (major character death,or minor character death that had a big impact on one of the mcs,player going back home,etc.) Worse endings are basically bad endings but worse if the character doesnt have a bad ending there wont be a worse ending

The actual romance starts when they graduate aka halfway through the route it takes time to develop feeling and for others to overcome trauma or atleast tone down their problems a bit

How you will get these endings are based on your choices

Whew this was long and oh boy while yes they dont follow alot of media expectations and defeats the main purpose of a dating sim(which is making the player feel loved) i wanted to have something more realistic something more TWST

Aaaah 😅 Honestly, I’m just glad that I’m finally able to get my thoughts on that out... It’s definitely not my cup of tea, but I had been holding back on sharing my opinion because I worried about coming off as invalidating the people who do enjoy it (and I hope that I haven’t given off those vibes). As I’ve always stressed, just because I don’t personally like something doesn’t mean that others cannot like it. People are free to do and enjoy whatever they want!

Yume culture is definitely very prevalent in the Twisted Wonderland fandom! (For those who may not know, “yume” is short for “yumejoshi”, or 夢女子, which literally translates to “Dream Girl”. It is a term used for those (typically female) who enjoy dating their favorite character(s) in their head or in their imagination, usually via a self-insert or via an OC.) I think part of the reason for it is that the TWST characters are really loveable and relatable, and people wish that they could engage with them on a more intimate level. It’s how a lot of TWST fans demonstrate their love for certain characters!

ASDHBASODYPboffuba AHAHAHAH 🤣 After being in this fandom for over 2 years, I’ve found that a lot of my opinions misalign with what the majority of the fandom thinks. It doesn’t make any one opinion better or worse than the others, but I just think it’s something amusing to note. I try to give all sides consideration and the benefit of the doubt when possible, but ultimately I’d like to think that I approach TWST lore and its characters with more pragmatism than most. Maybe I’m just jaded--

I don’t know if I can speak for the entire fandom, but I feel like I’ve personally seen a lot of “uwu” takes. They’re understandable to some extent, as people will inevitably want to comfort these characters and to seek comfort from them in return. I don’t fault anyone for that, even if I choose to disagree with it. I just hope that those takes are only harmless fun and escapism, and that they don’t seriously extend to real world relationships, because that would be a setup for disappointment and even potentially toxic situations 💦

Yeah, I think that if TWST were to be a dating sim at all (while maintaining its identity), it would have to completely flip the script of conventional dating sims. TWST is a game about “villains”, and while that doesn’t necessarily condemn them to not having a happily ever after, it doesn’t mean that their happily ever after needs to come now, that it should be quite so easy to obtain, or that their circumstances will actually allow for it. Part of what makes TWST… well, TWST 😂 is that while there is magic and fantastical bullshit going on around you, the story and its characters still have its roots in realism. There are reasons and backstories for characters acting a certain way, and things happen as a result of the characters acting organically, not out of plot convenience. This would be possible to incorporate into a unique dating sim experience.

Like you’ve said, there can be more physical contact and sweet, intimate moments spent one-on-one with the boy of your choosing. I think there’s a lot of cute possibilities for those so-called “love-flag” cutscenes! Imagine looking after the hedgehogs with Riddle, going on cafe hangouts with Cater, baking with Trey, etc. It’d allow for the characters to be themselves without erasing their flaws and faults while still spending time with the protag (Riddle is taking care of the hedgehogs because it is his duty, Cater needs someone to polish off his sweets after he’s done taking pics for his Magicam account, Trey appreciating a hand in the kitchen because he’s worn out from being the main baker for unbirthday parties, etc.)

Oooh, I really like the idea that only some boys actually get “happy endings”/end up in an actual romantic relationship with the protag 🤔 But to play devil’s advocate for a moment, I can see why that might upset some people? Like, imagine being told that a character you really like doesn’t get or “deserve” a happy ending/love (and you, the player, by extension, don’t get that happy ending/love that you explicitly picked up this game for), but that others do????? And based solely on the character you picked/liked, too… (Worse yet is that I see a lot of the most popular characters, like the OB boys, being the ones that most likely don’t have “happy endings”.) That would just seem unfair to the fans of certain characters.

I’m not going to comment much on the ideas shared for Jack and Idia’s routes (since I think they work well as you have proposed), but since you mentioned Idia, I’m going to take a moment to speculate. I get that people want to date the TWST boys, but I wonder if anyone has stopped to consider the implications of certain characters if the genre were to change. Dating sims focus on romance, right???? So what would happen to Grim in that case??? And what about Ortho, who is a literal child that you obviously should NOT date or have romantic feelings for??? Since you can’t write either of them romantically, I fear that their roles would be greatly diminished in the routes, reduced to nothing more than “cute but sassy mascot/pet” and “Idia’s wingman”. In Ortho’s case, this is especially bad because his whole character arc ends with him finally being acknowledged as his own person rather than as an “object”, but the structure of a dating sim would probably make Ortho a plot device to move the romance along 😔 I don’t like the idea of changing Grim and/or Ortho to make them dateable either; it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. It takes away the importance of the platonic relationship between Grim and his minion, and in Ortho’s case, aging him up and/or making him alive or never dead in the first place removes a lot of meaning from his and Idia’s struggles and childhood trauma. It also kind of implies that something was “wrong” with the originals (and, by extension, something was “wrong” the friendships they had with the protag) 💦

I’ve actually always been bothered by non-royals getting romantically involved with royals 😅 It’s nice to think about for escapism purposes, but I personally prefer to write and consume media with a more pragmatic view and where there are realistic consequences for everything that happens. I’d be really interested to see the aftermath of a route where Malleus had to turn you down because he puts his duties as crown prince first, or where the twins get you caught up in their shady family business (presumably the underwater mob) 👀 Love’s numbing power only lasts so long before you have to deal with the consequences that come with those feelings and the one you’ve sworn them to.

Now that I think about it 🤔 a time skip around the middle of the game reminds me of Fire Emblem 3H. It worked pretty well in that game because the story was split pretty evenly between the past and the future (with maybe more of a lean toward the future, where most of the character development occurs. The actual romantic relationships happen post-main conflict, because the characters have other priorities (fighting for their causes). I think that this kind of a format would work well for TWST, especially with the deep-rooted nature of the trauma some of the boys have experienced (or just how generally stubborn they are to the ideas of friendship and love). For the TWST boys, their priorities would mostly be schoolwork, but also the OBs and what comes immediately after (if those are kept in the dating sim). I feel that it is tonally deaf or at least insensitive to launch into a romance or continue the buildup to one right after someone has been through something really dark and disturbing; they should be focused on mentally recovering instead. This would not be as much of an issue if the idea of a relationship was revisited later in life, when the characters are not as burdened by schoolwork and have had time to grow, to mature, and to sit with their thoughts and reflect on them. This would also solve the “age issue”. If the dating sim protag is over 18, it gets iffy romancing younger boys, and if they’re under 18, it gets iffy romancing older boys—but if there’s a time skip, then everyone is a consenting adult and it’s all gucci 👌

I’m with you when I say that if we get a TWST dating sim, I’d want it to be well-written and realistic so as to maintain the charm of the original. (But of course, there’s nothing wrong with wanting an experience different than this for a hypothetical TWST dating sim! Everyone has different tastes, which we should be respectful of.)

Gonna share my thoughts about NB lesson 24 now. Expect spoilers under the cut. (I haven't read the extra story since can't get access to it. so am keeping that out for obvious reasons.)

So we start off with Asmo first charming Lucifer of all demons and I was very surprised to see it even work. Like holy shit, Asmo charmed LUCIFER. Felt both impressed and concerned pff

Then we slowly start to see things take a turn from interesting to very concerning...Tbh. This way they went about on showing Asmo's charm at a stronger rate, is actually okay with me. Like its bad yeah, because Asmo is taking advantage of everyone around him. Which just happens to be his brothers. But this could of been played out way worse by the writers, since this is Asmodeus after all. The Avatar of Lust.

Some will think he'll just use his charm to do some fucked up shit with his brothers...But thankfully, they(the writers) proved here Asmo doesn't have any true desires for that. So those anti Asmo fans can quit it with constantly saying Asmo just wants to fuck his brothers. Seriously, fucking stop it. It's tiring and annoying now.

Anyway, back to the lesson...So Asmo just uses his charm to just make everyone spoil and pamper him like a literal "Queen". Or as quoted by Solomon later on, making his brothers act like royal servants, which "Queen Asmodeus" had. (I'm so interested to hear more of Queen Asmodeus. Solomon, fucking spill the lore. I NEED it. lol)

Most of the brothers are easily charmed by Asmo's stronger charm now at first. Then there's Lucifer, first charmed of course, then worked on resisting his charm in time. Which apparently the other brothers can do too or try, as implied by Lucifer.

Then we finally get Asmo snapping and his sin consuming him truly now after Mammon upset him a lot with the stuff he told him. At this moment, all the brothers, including Lucifer too, are now victim or fallen victim to Asmo's powerful charm.

Then here's us...Honestly, I wish they let Asmo try to charm MC so we can know if they truly retcon the fact MC can't be charmed or not. Though maybe we'll find out in next lesson...

(Though that whole scene of MC running away from Asmo trying to hunt them down to charm them. Just was some yandere-ish vibes to me. lol Fueling the fics ideas for me now.)

Anyway, we escaped unhinged Queen Asmo's charming wrath pfff, and we were sent to Solomon for help. (ugh...but it is what it is.)

I chose to land on his head btw. Heheh. REVENGE~.

Anywaaaays. We tell Solomon what's going on, and of course he finds this all interesting...but quick to accept this is a problem...Then goes with us to help save the brothers and stop/save Asmo too.

That where we see Asmo just living a spoiled life of being pampered and attended to endlessly by his brothers, and this is where Solomon brings up this is like with Queen Asmodeus and his royal servants. (AGAIN. SPILL THE DETAILS WIZARD MAN. LOL)

I was honestly very concerned over how this will play out with Solomon. I knew he'll get involved since he has a pact with Asmo...But in the end he just kept resisting or reflecting Asmo's charm, even with his weakened power(still having doubts if that's true or what from him lol). Then in the end resorted to using Barbatos to help stop Asmo like nothing. Which honestly...I'm happier with Barb stopping Asmo truly than Solomon himself directly. (Even if Barb showed no mercy it seems...haha)

Then we get left with some cliffhangers and yeah...Can't wait for the next lesson.

But now I got some stuff to say, about Asmo, and Solomon here.

Now you know I love Asmo with all my heart...But won't lie. Hearing him call Jayce/Me a nuisance...Was a huge stab to my heart lol. Like personally, I feel like one as is in life to everyone around. Which is why I'm so distant and all. So yeah...It just sucks. lol But I know this isn't truly Asmo talking truly from his heart, just his sin consuming him making him act and talk this way. But for my MC Jayce, this will certain leave a scar and now moments of doubt when with Asmo...lol the angst is gonna be real from this now.

Now for Solomon...Honestly I still don't like him because of the stuff he's said or done (but won't deny he's kinda hot. so there. happy? lol), but appreciate him protecting us and defending us. Though I just hated how he said this to Asmo...

Like it just proves to me again, he just sees Asmo as nothing more but a tool than someone special and important to him. No love is felt from him or through his words over Asmo. (Like some like to believe they apparently are madly in love with each other...Uh huh...) Just this need to prove he's in control and powerful over another, which is Asmo in this case...Ugh...I hate it so much. Reminds me of those toxic partners in relationships who need to always be in control and more power than other...or some people I know irl who really are like this...

Anyway...That's all to say for now. I think. Might of missed stuff but mind is everywhere rn so yeah lol. I'll say/add more later if anything comes up.

All I know, once this is all over. I expect many hugs and kisses from Asmo. (As well will maybe be writing some angsty stuff over Jayce and Asmo thanks to this all. lol)

I’m one of those people who like collecting any possible lore for things I’ve been hyper-fixated on for this long. You do not want to know some of the things I’ve done for other fandoms that never got actually shared. So labour-intensive, so worth it. But one of the things that I have been doing for Stranger Things is reading through the various comics and books that were released in addition to the show. In all honesty, I think the comics are a little higher grade than the books. Mainly because they really capture the feel of the show way better. Also, I don’t have any plans to read the things regarding Brenner or the other numbers comic or book-wise. Sorry, that stuff just isn’t interesting to me. I much prefer the dynamics for our main characters we do have than looking for other characters outside the show. 

Anyway, I’ll be going through the comics I do have and doing an analysis on what they contribute to the overall lore and characterization of these characters. Some will be fairly short. Some have quite a bit more to them. The first one is The Other Side which is Will’s POV from being in the Upside-Down in Season 1. (I do put some images from the comics in, they are at the bottom but use caution cause they are very horrific).

First off, the monster never drags Will into the Upside-Down. He slips into it himself when the light goes all bright like we see at the beginning of the first episode. The Demogorgan never even makes it into the shed, which is where I get the basis of my undying belief that all the Byers have powers and this is Will’s main one pre-Mind Flayer. Also, he shoots the Demogorgan twice. Which is why he doesn’t have the gun when we first see him talking to Joyce. He already used up his ammo of two shots. 

He hears the search party that first day they are out, that was right about the time he figured out something is wrong (time is a little screwy so roll with it) and he speaks to his mom on the phone and through his walkie to the phone. Later, with the lights in the cabinet, he takes his mom’s instructions so seriously. He is literally blinking and the lights are fading in and out at the same time. Once the alphabet is on the wall, he touches the letters to light them up. Will does use the alphabet at a couple of other points with no response so no one was likely home. 

He does hear Lonnie briefly post-funeral, but Lonnie cannot hear him at all. Will breaks a chair at this point. He also finds one of the two hunters that Callahan mentioned to Hopper in the show as being missing. So poor Will has to watch someone die.

Shortly after that, he hears Jonathan. This actually happens while Nancy is in the Upside-Down too, so both Will and Nancy can hear Jonathan calling out. Will chooses to distract the monster which lets Nancy get out. This is when Will finally goes to Castle Byers. While Will spent a lot of time running around, trying to get away from the monster, he kept going back home. He doesn’t go to Castle Byers till that last night because going without food in that toxic world is finally catching up to him and he is starting to seriously hallucinate at this point. Even when he gets out, he still keeps hallucinating he is back in the Upside-Down even as he is speaking to his family and friends. The graphics here are seriously creepy and it really adds to why Will really wasn’t explaining well what he was seeing in season 2. It gives the impression that he seriously thought he was hallucinating the whole time, not sliding back into the Upside-Down. 

This is more of an overall bit because I said I would have to check it. So, Jonathan’s ability to hear people in the Upside-Down. There are only three times that Will and Jonathan are in the same place that I can tell. The first time is the first instance of Will trying to talk through the phone. Jonathan was there with Joyce at the phone. But Will was back in his bedroom on his walkie. Also, he stops at a point because the Demogorgan comes into the room (this is when Will ends up using the second shot) so while Will can hear Jonathan, he doesn’t say a word back because the monster is right there. The second time is that it is implied that Will was hiding in the graveyard around the time of his funeral (of course we see nothing but the generic words of a funeral, so could be someone else who happened to die around the same time). Will doesn’t say anything then though. And later when Will hears Jonathan calling for Nancy. Will is silent here as well, using rocks to distract the Demogorgan and lure it away. By the time he circles back to the spot, Will sees the portal close from his side long before he gets close to the tree.

I’ve been very well lately. Haven’t had my chronic illness act up in 2 months and my grandma’s coming to the UK soon (which I’m very excited about because I missed her terribly) so yeah!! It’s funny you mention that, because I was looking at old art recently and also saw how much I’ve improved. Hell, while I’m drawing sprites and emotes I’ve noticed I’ve improved again and it’s making me wanna redraw everything lol since my current style is outdated :’)

Aw yeahhhhh time to get to some questions with some answers. I'm also gonna link the Giant Lore Sheet since it'll answer a lot. I got plenty of questions, which is AWESOME but so many that I'll have to save more for another time :)

I have made a diagram of Cor internals! I haven't had enough to say on it to share separately but now's a great time. Basically when I say these guys are mostly hollow, I mean it. There's a lot of supernatural/magic shenanigans going on but what I do have figured out I took seriously.

Cor heartrates are slower than humans', with Scouts having a fun and concerning resting BPM of about 20-30.

2. What planet are they from? EARTH BAYBEEE

Corda are from Earth and emerged at the same time prehistoric humans emerged in Africa, notably because Corda are "parasitic" and require a human population to reproduce for them. The Giant Lore Doc's intro paragraph is simultaneously a mythic interpretation and a factual explanation:

"Born out of a Great Hydra's misdeeds and curse, Corda are modified hybrids between humans and the now-extinct species the Great Hydra belonged to. To be clear: Corda Falsum result when the Great Hydra, referred to classically as The Suffering One, distributes a portion of its eternal curse to an unborn human fetus, thereby sharing part of its being with the human."

3. What form of political powers exist in Falsum society? Two-layered congress

Focusing on the Capital city, there are Class Heads -- elected members of each Cor Class that exemplify "peak form" and "exceptional public servitude" -- and Class Elders -- the oldest surviving members of each Class whose opinions are appreciated but typically too gruff or outdated to serve well. The Class Heads (Qwerty, Dr. Aksoy, the Capital's Overcor, and Beowulf) serve "for life" unless they retire or are forcibly ejected from the position. Recently, Thanatos was caught committing atrocities and was lovingly arrested and stripped of his title and all its benefits, being replaced with his second-in-command.

The actual governing borrows from other countries' laws with custom laws being passed in congressional debate, usually with the Heads' cabinets present to argue and vote. Tentative decisions get passed by Elders and their input is either ignored or considered into the final decisions. There are courts with educated judges, leaving the Class Heads more free to do their normal jobs around the city. ...Unless, of course, the case is tricky and needs input.

BTW, the Overcor is named as such because she's an overseer, akin to a mayor, secretary, and treasurer all at once. Each population center in the Underground has their own Overcor, but the one at the Capital is the High Overcor. Each continent has their own Capital and their own High Overcor alongside their own Class Heads. The Elders are a North American Capital issue, since they're located closest to the legendary Pit in which the Hyrda is said to dwell.

4. What's considered an adult if they're 30 years old when they metamorph and others can be thousands of years old? uh

Typically, a Cor needs to be about 80 to be considered "comfortable in their Falsumness" but there are a few sticky details. You see, Corda appear the age they feel. Some centuries-old Corda present themselves not a day over 35, while some can hit 100 years and have an existential crisis that ages them to wrinkles instantly ("instantly" AKA over a period of a year or two). Personal interactions are up to the individuals with literally-younger and young-presenting Corda usually being viewed as little whippersnappers being group-effort considered. Nuances are too uh well nuanced to explain but to summarize: Corda divide themselves up pretty respectfully and friendships between """age groups""" can influence one another to literally equalize their age presentations. Additionally: once a Cor hits a certain age, old is just old and only the Elders are significantly impressive. A 3,000-year old Conduit is peanuts compared to Cicero, who racks up 22,000 years, but the 3,000 who presents as an old person is par for the course for an 800 year-old who also presents as elderly. Likewise, Qwerty and her best friends are all 100 or younger and they definitely act like young adults (~23 yrs) who feel invincible and garner terror from others who want so badly to explain how life works.

Explaining this was a mess and I'll probably tinker with and refine it later lol REGARDLESS: they're all adults and can figure stuff out between themselves! BONUS: Corda don't have biological sexes, no genitals, no issues there.

Falsum Children -- Corda who haven't undergone metamorphosis yet -- are 100% considered children even if the FC is 29. Any relationship besides a mentor figure is insanely taboo and expressly forbidden.

5. What's the entertainment like in the Capital? THERE'S OPTIONS

The city is set inside of a giant natural cavern that has been expanded upon and outfitted with debris nets and support fixtures to minimize collapse. There are districts for housing and commerce, although there is no one currency (lots of bartering and trade). Because it's an extremely cosmopolitan location, entertainment depends on what the citizens set up. There are park areas and open squares scattered around that are frequented by festivals, music, and general "man i love being at the park" casual-goers. There's a district set up for the large Warrior Classes humorously called The Barracks, but it's mostly a section constructed to accommodate their body type; however, there's a beloved amphitheater reminiscent of the Roman Coliseum, although the fights held there are more like sparring matches and the ring is also used for plays and performances. Nearby, the Cognizant Labs has recently set up a visitors' center meant to educate and inform on the safer Lab floors, as well as be a quiet location for seminars and talks. The Capital Castle (built into the cavern's far wall), additionally, will host organized formal events since it's separated into administrative and cultural sections. There's no monarch figure in the Castle.

If nothing in the city works, the manmade tunnels outside supply lovely views for walks and runs as well as paths directly to designated natural pools and springs. (Some water bodies are strictly off-limits to preserve nature and are guarded as such <3) There's a surprising amount of flora that evolved alongside Corda and discovering fauna ( usually bugs) is a treat.

This was one of my very first homebrews for DnD, inspired by my childhood interpretation of the Black Mage sprite from early Final Fantasy games. A playable race oriented towards magic and as mysterious as magic itself. Admittedly most of this is lore, and it’s pretty unprofessional in places, but hey… We all start somewhere. I haven’t revised this prior to posting either. Feels wrong somehow.

Orblings have the Prestidigitation, Thaumaturgy and Druidcraft cantrips.

Floaty Hands

An Orbling’s hands can move up to 5 feet from their orb and are not physically connected to the main body. Damage to the hands still damages the player.

Orblings are curious magical creatures of as-yet unknown origin. In appearance, they resemble a glossy black orb with two glowing circles for eyes, an attached cloak that billows as they move, and a pair of gloves. Many orblings don’t see the point in complicating something and usually go for the most direct solution. They tend to be highly curious and are often magically inclined, commonly serving as assistants at places of magical learning, where their quick grasp of spellcraft and fussiness for a tidy space are desired traits. They float over the ground with their cloak just touching the ground, seeming as if they are walking. As far as anyone can tell, the cloth that makes up part of their bodies heals as if it were flesh, stitching itself back together with time, and causes pain when torn. Orblings are notoriously fussy about cleanliness and are known to take great care not to dirty their cloak. Another notable trait is a common love of hats. Once an Orbling has found a hat they are fond of, they are unlikely to take it off willingly.

There are many theories as to what Orblings truly are, but they themselves do not know and there is so far no evidence as to how they came to be. For most Orblings, their earliest memory is of their first discovery, often a simple thing like a rock or a plant. They get along wonderfully with Tabaxi, who share their rampant curiosity.

Orbling names are self-given, and often self-descriptive. For example, an Orbling who enjoys watching clouds might go by “Skypuff Bluewatch”, and an Orbling who likes rocks might go by “Shimmerrock Dustyglove.”

Gnome: “I think they’re a bit like me, actually. They always want to see and experience more, and always love to learn new things. The problem is they’re always in such a rush that they make a terrible mess sometimes.”

Human: “I only got to know one human well. He got old fast, but he did more in his short youth than some elves do in a century. I learned a lot from him. I miss him, actually.”

Half-Orc: “They’re only as fast to get mad as most Dwarves. Once you get to know them, they’re not bad people at all! Well, most of them anyway...”

before anything, I gotta explain he was born to parents who had an infatuation quirk (makes them hardcore fall in love with you) and an infection quirk (transmits a virus via saliva)  

developed his quirk late, since they usually get it by the time kids are four 

most people knew him as quirkless before the first incident 

in middle school, his class was preparing for a school play, he and his classmate got cast as the main lead prince and princess 

coincidentally, they both had a crush on each other and had a scene where they kissed

technically they weren’t supposed to, since its just a play, but one time they were practicing in private and wanted to try kissing “for real”

so they shared a super giggly cute middle school first kiss but well UNFORTUNATELY FOR HIM HIS QUIRK HAD WELL DEVELOPED–

the only way for the quirk’s effects to go away is to come at least once or pleasuring yourself until it goes away

rip now that I’m thinking abt it, I don’t even think anybody would even kNOW HOW TO MAKE IT GO AWAY so lets imagine she painfully stays that way until they figure out how to make it stop :^(

there’s a big fight that happens between the teachers, principal, and parents of both parties 

of course the crush’s parents got mad and called their kid a fuckin uhhhhh sexual predator or some shit despite also beING THE SAME AGE AND NOT EVEN KNOWING ABT HIS OWN QUIRK LIKE HELLLO

obviously an incident like this is going to spread like wildfire but the principal does not want something like this to leak, especially since it was not on purpose and was a total accident 

the other kid’s parents and some teachers did not feel comfortable however, and sato was forced to drop out

but not wanting to spread the gossip about their son’s quirk and the incident, they leave the town and move someplace else

thankfully, the principal gives the sato family his good grades and a recommendation to a decent highschool for the trouble

they’re originally from osaka, but moved to tokyo 

this is where they start taking precautions with sato, basically teaching him to be careful with his saliva 

it was easily taught and learned esp since the mom was already like that around him and others everyday anyway!! she has to take care of her saliva-based infection quirk, after all 

HIGH SCHOOL

he got enrolled into a regular highschool in tokyo

no hero course, no support course, no business, just a regular ol’ school

if before, he loved surrounding himself with people, this was where he was forced to develop a lonely disposition to protect himself and others

at least his parents were very protective and supportive of him and they were generally a happy family!

but in school, pretending to be quirkless was just as difficult, getting bullied or pitied for having no special abilities 

his excuse for wearing a mask all the time was because his mother had a virus-related quirk, and had to be careful 

one day his dad was suddenly got really, really sick

the more he had an excuse to wear a mask because he didnt want to get whatever disease his father started to develop 

sato started thinking it could be his mother (but why?) the results didn’t say anything about an unknown virus killing him (which is his mom’s quirk), and that his father really did contract a strong yet very normal disease 

while on his second year in highschool, his father, yozo sato, died 

apparently, without him knowing anything about his parents, his mother, oba sato, was actually under the dad’s infatuation quirk this whole time

she realised she wasn’t really in love with him when oba had accidentally allowed a drop of her saliva to fall into the meal she was making him, making him sick, and therefore making him weak enough to deactivate his quirk on her 

oba, back in her college years, wanted to marry someone else but yozo, who had a crush on her wanted her to himself, used his quirk to make him fall in love with her 

so in revenge for making her put up with him all these years to the point of marriage and having a kid, she continued to do this to his food 

her quirk doesn’t make anybody sick enough to die, but it made her husband’s immune system weak enough to the point that it contracted a real, serious disease which he ended up dying from instead 

sato only finds out the real story when he graduates from highschool, days right after his graduation the mom confesses it all 

she does say she truly loves him, but can���t stay around him knowing he was technically “unconsensual love”

sato gets reminded of what his quirk does, and true enough, that’s what him and his quirk turned out to be (a sick combination of his mom and his dad) 

they cant bear to be around each other after that revelation and decide to just not see each other again 

COLLEGE YEARS

he enrolls into an education course, inspired by the kind principal who helped him finish his middleschool-highschool education when it all started going downhill 

sato struggles paying for his college fees esp since he doesn’t exactly have his parents supporting him anymore, nor any contact with immediate family 

he has a lot of part time jobs that go all around the clock, he continues pretending to be quirkless so he gets bullied, and has to deal with all that emotional baggage plus being alone so…….clearly my man is TIRED as hell 

his side job hustles include: convenience store cashier, bookstore attendant, bar bouncer, and rookie gym trainer (he went to the local gym long enough for him to get recommended a job as a trainer)

college was that point where he starts developing a hardcore yearning for a companion because oh my god hes so lonELY (but cant)

ANYWAY SO

there’s this bully guy who always picks on him in college (for being “quirkless” and a loner and overall a fuckin weirdo with a mask)

tbh sato doesnt really give a shit he’s so used to it but he doesnt have his mother as an excuse to wear the mask anymore, this is where he starts forming the “I have bad breath” excuse 

“口臭い” (kuchi kusai) translates to “bad breath” or “stinky mouth” so sato unlovingly gets nicknamed “kusato”

one day he’s walking around the campus at night and finds the bully with his gang cornering another quirkless student, with plans of assaulting her 

sato was never the hero type, and was about to ignore the commotion as to not get involved, but something in him moved on its own and he found himself face to face with the gang 

he confronts them, but the bully mocks both him and the girl for not having powers to stop them anyway 

SIKE BITCH sato’s able to easily strike the other two guys, knock them off their feet enough to be able to tug the to-be victim aside, telling her to report them, before asking her to run away as fast as she can

none of the guys want that (they’re all students) so they have a full on brawl (and this isnt hero academy, its a totally normal university so I wouldn’t assume these guys had very impressive quirks)

except the main bully actually has a pretty decent quirk (he’s like a kinda half human half dragon with sharp claws, scales, and dragon eyes) and gets to injure sato with his sharp claws, seriously injuring his face

a part of his ear is also sort of sliced off, which is how his mask gets accidentally removed in the process 

the dragon bully grabs him by the collar and starts angrily shouting at him for ruining his night, being able to do all this shit without a quirk and all and all other derogatory speech 

“Well? what do you have to say for yourself?!“ 

Sato stays silent before spitting right into the bully’s mouth 

The bully drops him immediately, about to angrily fuck him up for doing something super fucking gross but WHOOP WHOOP YOU KNOW WHATS BOUTTA HAPPEN the quirk works immediately and the bully is a TOTAL MESS on the ground 

Im going to TLDR this part cos its…obviously nsfw but like: sato fully embarrasses him in public (beside the bully’s two colleges nonetheless) 

sato stays in the hospital for some time to heal from his wounds 

fortunately, afterwards, the bullies all get expelled 

unfortunately for sato, he also gets expelled for engaging in bad behaviour, and the bully did say what happened to him (and the college principal did not want his…dangerous quirk on campus) so as to lower any incident, all four were expelled 

at least without having to pay for college fees anymore, he could fully focus on paying for food, shelter, and clothes 

minus of course the hospital bills needed to pay plus he got a sick ass scar from it anyway HAHAHAHA BSDJHJRHDHF

ADULT LIFE

he had a lot of jobs here and there, but was more or less doing best as a trainer at a local gym where people weren’t allowed to use their quirks and strengthen their body regularly 

a few years went by and he eventually shrugged off everything that happened in his final college years but one day someone familiar walked into the gym! It was the fellow college student he saved!!!

she became a policewoman who wanted to get stronger in this quirkless friendly gym and hadn’t given up on her dreams of being a “hero,” inspired by how sato saved her that day

sato never really saw himself as some hero, he was left many nights alone thinking about how easily he could become a villain with his quirk, so hearing that really made him happy 

he trains her as her gym coach and she eventually asks him to join her patrol this small part of the city from a gang that was currently going around doing crimes since he’s good at it anyway, saying she could use some extra hands hehe

so yeah!! he does this side gig with her where he patrols alongside her looking for gang crimes and such c:

i kid you not this was one of the hardest asks because i dont want Rtas 'Vadum to be like the Arbiter so some things might be OOC i'm so sorry-

but plz guys request more rtas' vadum x reader's bc he's secretly one of my faves

Rtas' Vadum HCs:

For Rtas', he shares a lot of similarities with the Arbiter, but I imagine Rtas' is more passionate about his feelings, and in general more open about them.

As an example, how he treats his men. The Arbiter could care less, but Rtas' showed geniune care and concern for even the grunts, which puts him apart from a lot of commanders within the Covenant itself.

When he finally ends up with you (defaulting to human!), he is no doubt overly protective. You are so much shorter than he is; you are no spartan, you are frail, prone to injury, and vulnerable. Rtas' sees it as his duty to guard you at all costs, and he takes his job VERY seriously. He always wants to be by your side, which can become suffocating rather quickly.

Yeah don't expect a lot of affection from this guy, it's rare than with Chief and the Arbiter, even when it comes to nicknames and saying 'I love you'.

Rtas' is very blunt and open about his opinions and what would be the best choice of action, so he might hurt your own feelings, albeit he never means to harm you. He's just worried about you; he wants only the best to someone who he holds so dearly to his beating hearts, even if it means he must resort to difficult actions you'll have issues with.

This sangheili will take time out his day to train you in the way of energy swords and daggers. He'll gift you your own personal weapons, and try his damn hardest to teach you everything he knows. The height, size, and weight different is a challenge in it's own right, but it taught Rtas' to be creative in his training; he learns new ways for you to use your height to take advantage of a much larger foe, and how to blind them in case you must make a quick escape.

Now I said physical affection and affection through words is rare for Rtas', but there will be rare instances where, when he's commanding ships and on the hunt for the flood, he'll let you take a seat on his lap to look out into the distant space. He'll have an arm lazily draped over your shoulders as you take in the dazzling sight. And then, he'll feel him rest his head on top of yours, mumbling a quiet "I love you."

Honestly, if you're the big nerd type to know so much lore and history, the sangheili will be pleasantly interested in what you have to offer. He'll let you ramble on for hours about random stories you've read or heard; his most favorite was the one with transforming robots, or called 'Cybertronians'. He wonders where they could potentially be found so that they can have an honorable fight.

Also I completely forgot to add in the last point, Rtas' will also teach you how to use a Ghost. He doesn't like the idea of you having to rely on one, but it's a caution.

Like John, he also has a secret plushie collection. You can often find them in his own personal quarters, which only you and him have access to. Rtas' only collects those that you give to him, so don't expect him to go out of his way to purchase an animal plush on a human colony. His favorite is of the giraffe plushie you got him when you first confessed to him.

Is not the jealous type... so he says. He's actually prone to jealousy, slighty more than John is. It confuses him to no end on what this burning feeling is in his hearts, or why the urge to confront your conversation partner is so painfully strong. He's unable to resist for long and soon enough, he's standing behind you, growling and demanding what information they're trying to get from you.

Yeah, that sends him running, and earns Rtas' a scolding.
